If you need hevc extentions for windows, copy paste the following into a browser to get them from Microsoft store for free - ms-windows-store://pdp/?ProductId=9n4wgh0z6vhq

Download and run Windows_System_Scan_and_Fix_Ultimate_V3.bat to scan and fix any windows system corruptions you might have. After its done you can decide to reboot to apply fixes if any by pressing "1" or you can close out by hitting the "2" key

The above mentioned file runs the following in command prompt with admin privileges one line at a time
sfc/scannow
dism /online /cleanup-image /checkhealth
dism /online /cleanup-image /scanhealth
dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth

Steps to create bootable Windows installer from Mac/Linux:
Grab latest install .iso file
Rename the install.iso to install.img
Wipe partition table of your USB using gparted (Linux) or Diskutil (Mac)
Run this command, replacing the "if" and "of" path and disk path to the ones matching your system:
sudo dd if=/path/to/install.img of=/dev/sda bs=1M
Reboot, and the USB should show up as a bootable device

Hello there, I have a question about the JVM. My Minecraft runs very poorly on my laptop despite not using half of the resources allocated to the JVM/available.
I have not played my game (that got a lot of mods) for months because I do not often have time for this, but I remember my game to be smoother than what you can see on the picture. I have 8GB of my 16GB allocated to the JVM + 2GB for the heap.
Does anyone know if it is possible to force my game to run smoother considering the amount of resources left on the table, or should I blame the JVM limitations and think my expectations again ? Any piece of information would be appreciated.

If I take let us say TESV, my game slows down when my CPU and GPU hit 97% usage.

Ok first time posting here but I have hit a dead end with what i’m trying to do.
So i have a PC that i’m putting together with spare parts from a few upgrades i did previously, post to bios and can select boot drives just fine. install windows from a thumb drive onto an SSD, installer works fine but when I went to boot windows it said no bootable device detected. Went through a bunch of troubleshooting and windows repair from the thumb drive and it still didn’t fix it, went to install windows from the same thumb drive using a computer that already has windows on an nvme drive but was installing on the first ssd after a format and now main computer is giving me the same issue for the nvme drive; changed nothing on the nvme drive.

The Windows boot partition is protected, even in recovery mode. You basically need to format it and build from scratch.

You know, one other thing you can check is the bios settings. Make sure things like secure boot are off.

That's actually a really good indicator of the problem

You have to install Windows with the CSM off or else it installs in legacy mode

Also make sure the drives are not on raid mode

If the drive is attached to the system during install, when it goes to install the boot loader it'll detect all the available operating systems and overwrite their boot sectors

I did not say the opposite. I was actually stating that a game using 97% is an expected behaviour when it is not reaching expected performance. Like I know why my Skyrim would not hit 60FPS with a s***ton of mods pushing it past eight times its original size if it already uses 97% of the resources available. What is not normal, is a 64bits application that does not and still performs like crap.

Without a TPM you can't upgrade to 11 without risking M$ disallowing updates on your system. Windows 10 is fully supported until October 2025.

And according to him it just in general runs extremely slow, which is strange considering he just upgraded from a AMD 2200U cpu and his new device should have much better hardware capabilities with 12 gigs of ram and the cpu

Yeah, as in not going to recovery mode. Boot the windows install disk and follow the prompts normally.

I remember this happening

I think that's why some parts of windows were scattered

I had the 2 disks plugged in

And for some reason it wouldn't work with one of them

My memory is very vague because I only had to do it once

That looks like the wrong disk. Windows was on the one that didn't have the 15mb partition at the front

Unless there's nothing worth saving and you want to use that one anyway

Great! That should set it up properly. Once it's done and you're on the desktop, you can put the other drive back in and format the D: drive so then that one is fresh too and doesn't conflict

Does anyone know how to avoid the one generation gap of processors for windows 11 I have a laptop it has a i3 7th gen and windows 11 requires i3 8th gen and I think if it was allowed to install it the laptop would double maybe even triple it’s performance

If not does anyone know how to figure out why a 1970’s driver would be on that said laptop 😂

And help me figure out how that driver should be updated to its most recent

There's ways to install 11 on unsupported hardware but the performance is really bad and you won't get all the updates

I’ve reinstalled windows 10

Before I reinstalled windows 10 I spent like 20 hours messing with the settings to get the best performance then reinstalled it then spent like another 20 hours getting it to the latest windows 10

When I increased the performance within settings it made it a little bit better I reinstalled windows 10 that made it faster then updating windows 10 made it even faster but all the games I could play before on it didn’t run as smoothly

They can preload your BIOS with bloatware and force it to install

Do you mean OEM? Those can be weird with licensing depending on what kind the manufacturer used.
The same key can't be used on two PCs but besides that you can change accounts no problem.
