Probably the legal team that wrote that. If they called out Intel specifically they could get in trouble, so they made it a broad statement.
I wonder what their definition of “high performing GPUs with lower performing CPUs” is
Probably a 4080 with a 12100 or something
Since some of the problems were with 7800X3Ds and 4090s
Which is usually fine at higher resolutions unless the game is CPU heavy like this one sounds
Alright so I have to get an 11th gen CPU when I build newer
I had bad performance with my build at like 40-50 frames, but I was GPU bottlenecked
Might just be silly optimization
Has there been a single AAA game this year without some performance issues on launch?
Too normal nowadays
so i got a new-to-me laptop today, its a significantly older msi laptop but i still love it, but for some reason it wont detect my headset microphone as mic input. i have audio coming to the headset fine, but the only microphone its using is the one built into the laptop itself
any reason why it wont work?
Probably only got channels for stereo out
If it's old it probably has a dedicated microphone/audio in jack
So you'd have to split
You might already have a splitter?
It does have two. I do not have a splitter. however, i just ordered a brand new steelseries arctis 1 headset, which should come with one, so i should be fine. Thank you.
I do have another question though - this laptops trackpad isnt the greatest and my main issue with it is that i cant use two fingers to scroll. I have to click and drag the scrollbar everytime. According to reviews on the laptop this guy had to re-enable it or something and i have absolutely no clue how, ive looked at control panel, regular settings, and nothing of the sort.
Maybe it has the kind that has you sliding your finger up and down from the side of the trackpad?
Another option is using the arrow keys, which I'm fond of
That works doesn't it?
nope
and arrow keys dont work for discord and im assuming other apps
there has to be a way to turn it back on
i mean the guy in the review did it lol
If it's a synaptic touch pad you might be able to configure it with the synaptic software
it is
can i download that from their website?
or is it built in
its an msi, let me look
i have absolutely no idea where to look, im stupid sorry lmao
this seems to be more of a shop/product site for them
than like software/drivers
MSi GL62-6QF
it is decently old, like 7 years old
but its significantly better than my current laptop LOL so im happy with it
i got it from my sis, she just bought a brand new 1800 dollar MSi, so she gave me this one
As a world leading gaming brand, MSI is the most trusted name in gaming and eSports. We stand by our principles of breakthroughs in design, and roll out the amazing gaming gear like motherboards, graphics cards, laptops and desktops.
It installs a program that starts on boot, that's the one you want
You'll find it hiding in the tray
Sneaky program (positive)
It's usually bloat, until you need it like now lol
7 year old laptop moment
My other laptops specs are a Ryzen 5 2500u, but Vega 8 (integrated) graphics
This MSi is an older model i5, but has a dedicated gtx960m. Older but the dedicated graphics smooth out the older cpu
My Aunt's laptop with a first gen i7 still runs fine
My other laptop could not run certain ROBLOX games at more than 20fps
That’s good
This thing takes 5 days to boot up so gimme a few mins
Yeah it has an HDD sadly
It’s 1tb at least, huge upgrade over my 256gb one before
Easy enough to fix
You can replace them?
Mhm
Is it difficult?
It shouldn't be
You need only a couple things, the SSD itself and a USB to SATA adapter
And you need a cloning software, namely macrium reflect
First step is defragmenting the hard drive just to get it squared away (idk if this is necessary, but that's what they all recommend)
Second step is plugging in the SSD over USB
Third step is cloning the drive using the software, making sure the drive partition from the original drive can fit in the new one (don't try it if you have ~900GB of data and a 500GB SSD)
And last step is opening the thing up to switch out the drives, after which you can keep the old drive around as a backup of that disk image or use as an external hard drive
Idunno what SSD prices are these days, but the USB adapter should be something like 9 dollars, and the software is free to use
So I’m done
And
It’s there but it’s the same as before
I tried looking at it when I first encounter this
The drivers you sent didn’t do anything there’s still no@option to change it or anything
Drivers for proprietary hardware like this can sometimes not work with newer operating systems I think
Which is doodoo
i could cry
ill be using a mouse most often
But there are times where i like to use the laptop itself
Not being able to scroll with the trackpad itself is a nightmare
One of the reasons I haven't really liked laptops
most laptops let you scroll with the mousepad
like 90% do
i guess this one really is that old
jesus
I’ll try one more time
I think every laptop I've ever had the misfortune of coming in contact with had bs driver problems
Oh me too
yea still the same
thats the screen that comes up when i open the software. its not to be found on any of the tabs or properties, and settings on the tab in the screenshot is literally just a description of different features of the touchpad
The one next to the disable button?
Yes
i waswrong it does have settings just nothing much and cant find any dual finger scrolling gesture
thats where ive been accessing it this entire time yes
Ah okay
WAIT.
WAIT.
WAIT.
i found the setitng to enable it
and i did
but its not working lol
Try a reboot after applying the setting
Okay it is working but its horrible and its inverted
I move my fingers up to go up and down to go down instead of the other way around
i dont think i can change it either
ya it is fixed into the laptop

shut
it is what it is, at least it works at all i guess
ill have it connected to a mouse most of the time but
Smart phones have us conditioned for the better method now lol
sorry back to this question if I may:
I can always use the new SSD just for storage for now,
and create a new partition for when I wanna install an OS (whether single Windows/Linux, or multiboot) later,
storage partition won't be wiped right ?
(as long as configured correctly)
If you make the storage partition on the end of the drive and leave enough room at the front to install the OS you want, then that would work
gotcha thanks
so for now I can just copy all the games installs over to the new SSD without creating a new partition
then create a new partition at the beginning of the drive for when I'm ready to install an OS
wait actually, maybe I should just do that now
because ig if I don't, I'll have to move all that storage data towards the end of the drive,
before I can create a new partition, right ?
orrr alternatively,
I can just keep the new SSD as storage-only
and use the newly freed up space on current drive for multibooting
so current TLC for OSes only, and QLC for storage only
So the question then becomes:
- If u had a 2TB TLC, and a 2TB QLC
- U wanna multi-boot Windows and Linux distros
- u wanna have storage for games and other media
How would u manage it ?
Hello all. I am back here again with another issue on my MSI laptop.
Whenever I put the computer to sleep. Like ever. Even just closing the laptop, like laptops do, when I turn it back on the screen goes absolutely crazy and doesn’t work. The only way to fix it is by force restarting it with the power button. It’s done this to my sister, who gave it to me, for awhile. I have no clue if this is a software or hardware problem but I thought I’d ask here.
It has nothing about a fix that I can see
Oh there
Reddit mobile app is weird
I just updated my drivers this morning actually
Im on the latest
😔
It still does it with the latest drivers?
Yep
Oof
if anyone knows any fix to this please ping me here, thank you
DDU can fix weird graphical issues
?ddu
DDU (Display Driver Uninstaller) Guide by Pato
https://github.com/NeweggTechie/Graphics-cards/wiki/How-to-use-DDU
If that doesn't work you might try a clean install
of windows?
Yes
i mean the laptop was just factory reset completely i dont know if she did a clean install or not
i really dont wanna do that but if it comes down to it i will
If that was a PC reset from settings then that's not a clean install, there's still old data
so ddu uninstalls and reinstalls the display driver
DDU uninstalls the GPU driver, all related settings files, and even the default driver. Then you install the latest driver.
so for instance i just installed my latest driver thorough the geforce experience software, id just do that again when i get to that step?
Yes
alright ill try that
But not through geforce experience because that'll be uninstalled
oh alright
will i need to do it from the website directly or can i redownload geforce experience
gfe comes with the drivers
its a different version
the one that comes with this laptop is absolutely outdated and horrible
i had to reinstall the latest version this morning
It can with some tweaks so when M$ stops supporting 10 in 2 years you can upgrade
https://www.nvidia.com/Download/driverResults.aspx/204474/en-us/
idk if i wanna do that
oh
sorry
i dont wanna mess anything up, when support ends support ends ig
it doesnt have tpm 2.0 and doesnt have a supported cpu or gpu, idk which
i know tpm 2.0 can be enabled but i dont know if this one has it, like at all
Microsoft will be ending security updates and only doing critical updates starting October 2025, so after a short time as more exploits are found you will be vulnerable
You don't need the tpm, there's tweaks like I said
I've seen 11 installed on a second gen intel i7
Its dumb that they end even security updates, at least keep those
its dumb that support is ending this early at all because there are SO many people cant have windows 11
and the average consumer wont be able to do the tweaks to fix it like me and you can
is it safe? like legit?
Windows 10 will be 10 years old by the time october 2025 rolls around
jesus
Windows 12 will be out by then
yes
windows 11 is fine, but i really hate how bloated it is
You can debloat it when you tweak the installer
after i try the ddu thing would you be able to walk me through that? i wanna get win 11 now honestly
I don't know if I'll have time today
It does take a few hours unless you have a really fast processor
alright no worries
specs of this thing is a core i5 6300hq, gtx 960m
8gb ram
Yeah you'd be waiting about 6 hours for the iso to extract, esd to convert to wim, configure the settings, and then convert and compress back to iso
Assuming you have a fast SSD as well
Oh my god I cuss too much
Yeah no it’s an HDD
Oof
Maybe I can make the iso for you instead lol
You don’t have to do that
It takes about 2 hours for me, most of that is waiting
It's usually better to do it yourself so you know the random internet person didn't inject any scripts to steal your data but I can if you want
Id appreciate if you did lol but like idk if I can trust or not. Nothing personal at all
It’s just the internet
Yk
But also considering you’re a mod and insanely trusted and active here
You don’t seem the type to do anything lol
I agree completely. I check source code for everything I can when I download programs lol.
Id let you do it if you wanted to
Id be waiting like 10 hours if I did it myself lmao
Alright booting into safe mode
Why do I feel like I won't be able to use a lot of programs in win11
Even worse when win12 comes around
Only old ones that haven't been updated since before 10 came out
Alrigjt running DDU now
I'm starting the ntlite program to mod the installer.
US English? Do you have Home or Pro edition? Do you need anything specific like the xbox features for game pass?
US English, Home edition, and yes absolutely include any and all Xbox features
Could you show me the options and I’ll let you know if I need it? Pls?
Yep give me a bit of time to download the latest 22H2 version, and then I need to extract and convert it.
No rush
Do you need hyper-v for virtual machines?
Wait it's a home version, not included anyway
Why would they even pack that into the home version iso
Just takes up space lol
weird
Apps you can remove/keep, lmk which you want.
Get rid of cortana
I never use cortana and i absolutely hate it
Everything else looks good, keep everything but cortana
Please and thank you
AYY DDU FIXED THE ISSUE
Fal’cie coming in with the clutch as always
Glad to hear it. Figured that would do it.
So you want to keep all the ones like news, weather, maps, etc?
Yes please
k
Will this be a clean install of windows and i lose all my data/files/apps?
Or will i be able to keep those
If not, its fine, i dont mind reinstalling everything
it just takes awhile
You can do it either way
It can do an "upgrade" install that will keep your personal data (some programs may need to be reinstalled but data intact)
That's awesome
And this will run perfectly fine on my laptop?
Sorry for asking so many questions, I'm just making sure because I've heard like
Issues in the past with people doing this
In theory yes it'll be fine
There's always the chance of hiccups when you upgrade an OS
Of course
I just feel like there'd be more of a chance since i'm doing it not legitimately through windows
This is the legit installer, I'm just removing things you don't need and telling it to skip checking compatibility
Ahhhh
I see
So, I take it ill just install the iso file onto my usb stick, and then boot to that through advanced restart?
Oh wow
Done processing, compressing now
Ok done compressing, now I need to upload it. I'll DM the link when I'm done.
Thank you very much
has anyone here successfully used the Intel Unison app between iPhone and Windows 11? im having issues
anyone know anything about why my safe boot says it's active on the bios (it's highlighted in dark tho) and valorant won't launch bc it says it's not safe booted
i had the same problem it was annoying. type in msinfo32 into your windows search bar and look for the secure boot
(should say off)
you have to go into your bios, set secure boot into custom and reset keys
thats what i had to do at least
1st step is just to see if its the same problem :)
okoki
it says secure boot state "off"
how do I do that
whats your motherboard
Restart and keep pressing delete and f2
Not sure which it is
find the advanced mode, should be one of the function keys
then look for "boot"
okok I'm there
go to key management?
i dont know how asus works sorry
look for something that says reset keys
Ye you go to key management and clear everything
How do I solve? 😩
I don't get what's wrong with my MC server... I opened TCP and UDP ports on my firewall and router too. I'm getting this error after having my router IP changed but everything else is untouched, as well as my computer's ip.
So then why is port 25565 not working?
Check if anything else is using the port, it's trying to take exclusive control of the port so if something else is using it then it'll fail.
Check this out too https://www.minecraftforum.net/forums/support/server-support-and/1940465-solution-failed-to-bind-to-port
So I lately have seen a lot of posts about the "Failed to bind to port..." message so I decided to post a solution for all of those.
Just to make sure: Th...
Tried a bunch of things yesterday, I just solved by using port 25566 instead, I'll see what's in the thread to see how it's solved
Im trying to connect to the internet but my wifi card wont work as its not showing up and when i install drivers for it and click update and it says they installed the wifi still isnt showing up and ethernet is just plain out not showing up
Are the devices showing up in device manager at all
my Logs now look like:```
04/05/2023 17:37:35 [ERROR] The module settings couldn't be loaded, please check the file for corruptions.
it's DD/MM/YYYY
You need this and a usb, if you have any specific issues feel free to ask https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10
hello is here anybody who can help me with packet loss? i will really grateful, if someone fix it i will pay money i swear.. i trying to fix it much hours.
No money changes hands here but describe the problem and how you've tried to fix it so far
-windows
hello , after i broke my windows for trying to switch my ssd from mbr to gpt, i have formated the ssd and install a fresh windows. Until now is goot but i have only a single problem, ryzen master application does not want to install back on my ryzen 9 pc. What can i do? i just gives me an error that my ryzen instalation is prohibited from instaling on this system.
Install your chipset drivers first
What motherboard do you have? I'll grab the right driver
i have an gigabyte b550 aorus pro ac and i have tryed to install the chipset from the support site and still no go.
Background: I have used chrome for a while. All of a sudden the browser stopped playing sound. It doesn't show up in my audio mixer at all but the tabs say they are playing sound. Switched to Firefox and that worked for a bit until the same issue happened. Then I swapped to Opera GX and that worked for a week until the same issue occurred. No applications have exclusive use over my audio device. I have tried to update audio drivers to the newest versions, perform system updates, clean uninstall and reinstall the browsers, nothing has worked. I can hear sound for every other application (including Edge browser) except for the above mentioned browsers which no longer show up in my audio mixer/volume settings. Not sure what to do from here. Any help/advice is appreciated. Thanks (just @ me)
It could be that windows had become corrupted
just did a clean install yesterday, didn't work
Whats a normal idle VRAM usage number? I'm using like, 4GB just on desktop with like file explorer open
Looking at the usage seems like AMDRSERV.exe uses the most. Might’ve had desktop recording on
That was it. Down to 1.5GB now which seems fine
@distant cedar give this a shot.
HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\LowRegistry\Audio\PolicyConfig\PropertyStore
This is the full file path that is only partially showing in the screenshot.
To move windows, from 1 drive to another, is simple right? Or do I need to download xyz programs?
Use macrium reflect
Ah so I cant just copy pasta my files into new drive. This looks a lil confusing lol
Yeah copy paste won't work for hidden or system files
It's fairly simple to copy with the program though. Select the drive to copy, click copy, tell it where to copy, and wait.
hmm macrium reflect, have different download links, called "free trials" am I lookin at the right thing?
Home edition free trial yes
so it'll copy the whole drive, not just the files I want per say?
Correct, that way it copies the boot loader and you can boot from the new drive
And if theirs programs / pictures/videos etc on per say that storage along w/ windows. It will copy all of that to said new ssd drive I select, than Id have to manually delete things I dont want, right?
Yes
dumb question, but cant I just uninstall windows and reinstall on fresh ssd?
thats doing the samething, right, w/o cloning etc?
Personally, I'd delete the stuff you don't want before cloning the drive. That way the useless stuff isn't making the cloning process longer and once it's been done, you are set.
That and moving stuff off the drive that you do want, but don't want to bother having on the drive, takes a little time but whatever
Got it fixed! turns out what solved it was going into the volume mixer and resetting sound for all audio devices & apps. Not really sure why that fixed it but illl def keep this saved to try if it happens again
Anyone have any ideas what these devices could be based on their system location? I've gotten drivers for everything I can think of. Had a aftermarket 5.25 inch usb hub put in but it looks like all the hubs show up in device manager (motherboard included).
Go to the details tab and select hardware IDs
looks kinda garbled
8086 is an Intel device
Device ID A74F
Intel GNA scoring accelerator
You'll find it on your motherboard driver page @quartz crescent
Not really
its wierd, for some reason MSI didnt have the drivers listed in the "other" category unless I switched it to WIN 11, must be why I missed them last time.
Hello, Can someone please let me know if it is possible to upgrade windows 10 1511 to 21h2 or 22h2 in a way that does not involve formatting the entire pc or losing any data?
Simple. Download the update assistant or an iso file for the update you want.
Run either one of those and you'll get the update
Oh I wasn't really sure if update assistant would work for such an old version but thank you! I will give both of these a try
Anyone knowledgeable in windows server? Trying to access a file but for some reason I can’t map the network drive even though it’s using the original desktop router and server. Idk how the permissions work in this windows server 2008 system
How is the file being shared on the network? Mapping network drives works best with SMB
hi so i need urgent help again, im reinstalling my windows because i had a problem with xbox services and windows crashes while its INSTALLING and idk what i can do cause i cant finish installing windows like that, its always IRQL bsod and kernel security check, any help on these please?
Clear CMOS, and if you still have issues then you have a hardware problem.
do you know which component could be the issue? ill try clearing the cmos too thanks
ok thanks
by drive you mean storage? and if so how can i check both of my device, i got an m.2 ssd and a hard drive, is there any way to check them if they're damaged or something?
Try installing to the m.2 without the hard drive attached, that'll rule out the hard drive
You can check memory by taking out all sticks but one, and if it still fails try a different one
yeah im going to get a friend's ram rn
i tested mine months ago but it didnt really change but i dont have anything to lose trying my friend's ram
I guess that’s what im trying to figure out, I was able to connect to the directory via network file location as smb but some of the applications need the original connection as a network drive which keeps failing everytime I try to connect. I believe it was a domain controller error
im trying this but on the installer says i cant use my ssd to install windows on, it says the drive selected is GPT style
Delete any partitions on it and tell it to install to unallocated space
Oh I remember this...
it counts the ssd itself as a partition
and some MSR reserved storage which idk what that is
Anything you can click and then the delete button lights up, do that
I don't know what you're talking about
Is this in the windows installer still?
Please do I'm confused
Right that's not the drive, that's a partition
"Espacio sin asignar" is unallocated space, the whole drive should be that
so which of those 2 should i select
Both of the top 2 ones
Delete them
Then the whole drive will be unallocated, select the unallocated space and hit next
the unallocated space should the the bottom one right
because if it is it dosent let me select it for use
Correct
After you delete the top 2 ones they will all become the same single unallocated space
ok
it worked
thank you
it worked but
it still blue screens
im gonna have to take it somewhere
thanks for the help either way
Ok yeah you've still got a hardware problem. Was this with your friend's memory kit you were running too?
It's either the SSD or the motherboard then probably
It's possible if it's an AM4 ryzen CPU and there's a bent pin
But bad CPUs are EXTREMELY rare
i might as well just take it out to check
Is it an AM4 CPU?
If so it's easy to check for bent pins, look at them straight on from the side and they should line up perfectly
Anything else modern would have the pins on the motherboard, which are much smaller and more fragile, while also being harder to tell if damaged
wasn't sure where to post this, i guess its windows and mobo software I have a 500gb nvme and 2 1 tb nvme, I have raid setup on the 2 1tb nvme and want to install windows on the 500 gb nvme. asrock z790 pg lightning mb, do i need to install the driver for floppy during windows install or is that only if windows is included in the raid? wasn't seeing the 1 tb raid after setting it up
Since you're not installing windows on the raid volume you don't need the driver during the install, but you do need the driver if you're doing hardware (assisted) raid from the Intel chipset to use it in windows.
so I need RST for the way I want to do it? cant just do MOBO raid?
Raid through the motherboard bios needs a driver
Which the RST handles
Since windows is already installed you don't need the floppy image
k thanks! will give it a go, first time doing it with a boot and 2 extra drives usually just do 2 1 tb nvmes and the floppy
Hey
So I’m installing a fresh windows on my brothers PC on a USB stick I’m at this screen
Then it finishes and restarts but then it goes right back to the “startup windows “ and it makes me reinstall windows again?
Take out the USB when it reboots
Quick question, installing windows when a 2nd windows drive is already present changes the bootloader to ask which one you want to boot. Is there a way to get rid of that or does it just fix itself after wiping one of them
Yeah you can delete the bootloader entry in msconfig
question, if i add another nvme ssd to my laptop that has windows on it would it corrupt the laptop?
No
You'd have to open disk management to initialize the disk and create a partition to use it
awesome ty
Ty
Is there any way to change the default Firefox Bookmarks Manager view ?
It's always "Other Bookmarks" for me
Is there a link to download windows 10 media tool for usb for new pc?
Also do u need to install bios on a seperate usb as well?
Or do u just need one usb for windows and update bios
After you install Windows 10 you can format the USB drive or use another one to update your motherboard's BIOS.
So after windows 10 took is installed onto the usb
I just plug the usb into one of the ports in the back of the case?
And spam delete key?
I don’t need to install anything else on a diff usb to load up and update bios correct?
Just the windows 10 on usb
Correct, you don't even need Windows 10 to update the BIOS.
No
Like
To install windows basically
Brand new pc
I just now found out
I don’t need a second usb
Bios already comes with motherboard
Just plug in usb with windows 10
Spam delete key
Then update bios THEN setup windows 10
Done
Which port do I plug the usb in?
Figured it out
But bro
Pc not turning on
Spamming delete key
Bios isn’t appearing
What motherboard and CPU?
You might need to update bios to support a newer CPU. The port right next to the button, with the white box around it. You'll take your USB with the renamed bios file, plug into that port, and press and hold the flashback button. It'll take several minutes to flash.
ASRock B650M-HDV/M.2 Micro ATX AM5
AMD ryzen7 7800x
8 core
Does anyone know how I can configure my wifi 6 network card to run wifi 6 instead of 3?
I plugged the windows usb into that port with the white box
Am I supposed to plug it into the one next to it?
Is that the issue?
I obviously have to update bios no matter what lmao that’s what im tryna figure out but the monitor WONT turn on and bios is not appearing after I spam both delete and f2 different times
Hmm that should be supported out of the box. It's still worth updating because that'll clear the CMOS in the process.
There's no such thing as WiFi 3
That's device list
Not wifi standard
Don't worry about it, it's simply a name windows chose to give it
Then why does my board say wifi 6 capable? Just curious
If you go into connection properties it'll tell you what protocol it's using
^
It says wifi 4 (802.11n)
It's running at a reduced speed then, probably because either the router doesn't support WiFi 6 or the signal is too bad
That sounds like router is too old
5 as in 5 years old router?
Mhmm
Because that's too old
I knew it 😅😅
WiFi 6 launched 2-3 Years ago
My mother(the one in charge of finances) has been saying it's fine because it was top of the time when we bought it
No, but when my download speeds hit 1Kbps....
With a rare max of 1 Mbps when I'm in the same room...
All of our systems are like that
She just doesn't notice because she's on Facebook or reddit...
There's a separate issue for that then, it's probably too close to something metal or something is blocking it
Or interference from the microwave
I'm between the router and microwave
And there's multiple walls between me and the microwave
And probably 3 ft between me and the router
Do I need to put the usb into the port next to the one it’s plugged in?
No the one you circled is correct
I was about to find the update you need and tell you what to rename the file to but my power went out
Tried turning on pc so many times build still doesn’t appear
Ah
So yeah if someone else could look that up 😅
All I’ve installed so far is windows 10 media key on that specific usb
Since I heard bios alr came with my motherboard I didn’t need to download anything related to that on another usb
Just windows on one usb and plug it in
Which I did and turned on pc multiple times, spammed either delete key or f2
No results of bios appearing on monitor
It's a good idea to update the bios anyway, since that solves the problem of the motherboard and CPU destroying each other
Literally, not figuratively
No that’s what I’m tryna do lmao
I’m literally trying to get bios to appear on monitor
This is why I’m here lolol
I’m saying how ppl told me I don’t need to install anything bios related on another usb
And how I just need windows media on one usb and plug it in
Done all of that
Now when I turn on the pc
Bios doesn’t appear on monitor
I need it to appear and show up so that I can see it with my two eyeballs in order to update it lmao
But nothing is working
No that's what flashback is for, you don't need to turn it on to update
My power just came back online so I'll get the update and instructions in a second
Don’t ppl turn their pc on
Then bios appears on their monitor
Then they update it
Then windows gets setup
Then they use it
I don’t get it lmao
Literally every video I’ve ever watched displayed ppl updating bios on monitor
That's an entirely different method, you'll be using flashback
Why don’t I need to plug the usb in the port and just do it on monitor
Like almost everyone else
It’s it because my motherboard is different
Your motherboard has the extra feature of flashback
It's an external programmer that writes directly to your bios chip without turning on the system
That's what needs to be done in this case
Bruh
Because you're not getting it to post
So doing it on the monitor is not possible as of now
Correct
Omg
Because there's no display
HOW TO: Bios Update Without CPU for Ryzen. Step by step bios update on Ryzen 5000 Motherboards. Bios Flashback / Q Flash Plus.
-- Expand Description for More --
NOTE: Rename the bios file on your USB Thumb Drive (make sure the drive is formatted as FAT32). Each manufacturer uses a different name (double check this with your motherboard manual...
Same process for B650
You should still read the SOP because it gives more details like what to rename the file to
Nvm
So when everything is done from those instructions and I turn on the pc the monitor will appear?
If it doesn't there's another issue, like a power cable isn't connected properly
Everything is connected where it’s supposed to be connected and is tightly connected
So it should turn on if everything is done
If the light flashed for a while and stopped, it should have completed successfully so you can try to boot again
Yk what
I’ll do it tmrw
Need a stress free night
From stupid pc stuff
Feel like if I bought a diff motherboard, this problem wouldn’t even exist rn
would’ve prob alr been done setup everything running
It is what it is
Buy stuff for the first time then u learn lolol
All the AM5 boards should in theory work with all the X processors out of the box
Welp
Tough
But there is that small issue of the CPUs literally exploding
Idk abt that chief
Ppl so far said pc SHOULDNT explode
that’s why I have it placed on top of my desk instead of under
I would need more fans to do that lmao
Also dust and particles not Great for it
Just a better move in general
It shouldn't you're right, it takes a bit of time for the damage to get that far
Plus it’s noted that if it does even get near that point
The parts will literally shut down instead of blowing up
So the pc would just turn dead instead of exploding
Atleast I make it out alive 👍
Well that was the issue. They should have shut down instead of blowing up, but they didn't.
Newer bios versions fix that at least
No clue dawg
That’s what I’ve been told
Just don’t mf burn and blow up while I play games lmao that’s all I ask
@vestal ibex so I plug in the usb with bios first?
Then after mb updates bios
I plug in the usb with windows and boot up the pc?
Wtf
Can’t rename it to its motherboard name
Says it’s too long
Tf
It's supposed to be renamed to CREATIVE.ROM, capitals and all
And you can use the same USB drive for both windows and bios if you want
Well damn
Messed it all up gotta use another usb
Do you rename the file or the application?
The zip is the file that appears when u download bios?
It appears as winrar
I extracted that winrar file
Yes
Rename the B65HDV_1.24.AS02.ROM file to CREATIVE.ROM
Doesn’t exist
Only shows RX7900XTX_24GB_Default_OC
The file is named that
When I click on it
The application is also named that
What application are you talking about
Ok so
I downloaded the lastest bios update from the motherboard website
Then a winrar file appeared
I extracted that winrar file into the usb file
This
I have no idea where you got that file
Downloaded from the website
From the website
ASRock
Motherboard
Supply
Latest bios update
Download
If that's a bios update then it's a vbios update for a GPU
Download the one I linked
Yes
Ok
Now the motherboard file is in the usb file
Now I rename that mb file to CREATIVE.ROM?
Yes
Ok, now you put the USB into the port we talked about on the motherboard before, do NOT turn on the PC, and press the BIOS_FLBK button next to the USB port. Hold the button until the light starts flashing, it'll flash for a few minutes.
Around there yeah
Then boot pc up?
Yes
and then I don’t need to spam delete or f2
On keyboard
Because bios alr setup
Right?
Correct, the bios will have default settings that are fine
Ok
Can I download windows 10 media tool on this same exact usb file as well
Like u said earlier it can hold both bios update and windows
So after I boot it up it should take me straight to windows setup
Yes
Perfect
Now let’s try and SEE if it actually works lmao
This is what it finally looks like
Now I take usb out and plug it into pc?
That looks wrong actually
And do the thing
.
oh f
What now
I literally installed windows media tool from the site
And moved the file into usb
Idk how to extract windows
So I just dragged it in
Run the media creation tool and it walks you through making the USB drive
Yes drag that back to your downloads or desktop
Then run it
Tell it you want to make installation media and point it to that USB drive
Then it downloads and copies the install data, and makes the USB drive bootable
goodneess
So it’s just finishing up progress rn
But any more steps after that?
Besides plugging it in?
It looked like the update file didn't get copied correctly so you'll copy this file to the USB drive
Bro what
It just got done setting up lmao
Now do I move the same windows media file over to usb?
Or do I need to do more extracting
Now it shows this
Tf
Do I just drag windows 10 into it now
The USB drive is not bootable and you need to boot to it on the computer you would like to install Windows on.
what
I just put the bios file into the usb file
That’s what they told me to do
So do I need to drag the windows media file into the usb or no?
No you're done with the tool, now you plug into the computer and update bios, then when it's done and you turn it on it should go straight to the USB to install windows
Wait
So
This is what it looks like rn
Is that what it’s supposed to be like?
Did you copy the CREATIVE.ROM file because it's not in that picture
.
I already had that file
In the usb
After I setup the windows thing
It turned into that
The entire usb file turned into what that image is
Yes and the windows USB setup erased the drive during the process
So you need to copy the file again, I have it here for convenience
Yes
I don’t need to drag the windows file to the usb?
For convenience I already extracted and renamed the file
No need for the setup file any more
So I just click on that file u sent?
You'll drag that file to the USB
Right
Then I go in my files and drag it
Ok
Done
Now is that what it’s supposed to look like?
Perfect
It now has it in there
Ok
Now I just plug it in
Press that button thing
And wait how many mins?
Or do I wait until light turns off
Until the light stops flashing
Yes
Ok
And it should go straight to windows setup
Yes
should I plug my mouse and keyboard in as well
Or after
Everything
Or does it even matter
Either way
Ok
Doesn't matter much
I need to go again, I was just checking in on things here real quick
I'm still at work after all
Ok
LIGHTS ARE FLASHING
unlike last time where green light stayed bold
This time green light is actually flashing
And blinking
Now just gotta play the waiting game
Usb flash Lights have completely turned off
Ima take usb out and turn on pc
Nothing still popping up on monitor….
Do you have the video cable plugged into the GPU or the motherboard?
It should be in the GPU.
Make sure the monitor is on the correct input as well.
Yes it’s connected to the gpu
Everything connected where it’s supposed to be
Turn it on again?
Plugged into the farthest left of the 4
The 2 right are for diff cables
The one next to the port it’s currently plug fits it tho
That's an incredibly rare thing. The GTX 900 series was able to support 4k monitors.
BRUH I FINALLY GOT THE MONITOR TO RUN ON
ALL THIS TIME ALL I HAD TO DO WAS ACTUALLY CLICK THE BUTTON BEHIND THE MONITOR THAT TURNS IT ON
omg
I actually feel like the dumbest idiot on this planet
Lmaooo
Hey man, be glad that was all it was
That was not all it was
No sh
android question because i don't use android. I have a samsung tablet that "only prints to samsung printers" I need to print a sensitive email and screenshots will not work. There is also no save to pdf option. Is there any app I can get to add printing functionality? From the looks of it this tablet hasn't been opened in 9 years so maybe an older app
I also cannot forward the email because the account is shut down
Dang that would have been my first suggestion, HP printers let you send an email to your printer to print files lol.
@last gorge You can't install the printer apps from the play store?
After 2 days I finally figured out a way to do it. Downloading apps wouldn't work because although the search works the connection would fail everytime you try to download anything not to mention there were no apps for hp, brother or xerox. What I ended up doing was saving each email as a .eml then emailing it from a different email on the device and then opening it in outlook on mac to print
The play store probably needed an update before it would work right
Weird the apps weren't on the store too, maybe the android version was too old
yeah that's what I assumed. it is running android 4
@vestal ibex hi ive got a question thats been bothering me, i sent it to a repair shop to get my pc checked out and they tried other hardware with it but the guy tested every component with his' and worked, but he couldnt try another motherboard and cpu, he told me the issue is most likley the motherboard but it still concerns me that maybe its the cpu and i dont really wanna waste 200 dollars on the new motherboard without being 100% sure, is there any way to see if the cpu is the issue?
Is the motherboard still under warranty? If so you wouldn't be wasting any money claiming that warranty.
If it's not in warranty then I'd say it's the motherboard with 99.9% certainty. CPU failure is incredibly uncommon.
nope, he told me the same thing, i bought it in 2020 i tried contacting the page but they charge and cnt replace it cause warranty's gone, he also told me the same about CPU failure
Today I moved my home server from the 2nd router to the 1st one, connected via ethernet, but there's an issue: the pc connects fine if it has an automatic assigned IP but if I try to set it to static (network and internet>ethernet>properties>ipv4 config) i input it's previous IP (192.168.1.78), subnet mask (255.255.255.0) and default gateway (192.168.1.254) like this it disconnects from the internet, takes about 2 minutes to show "connected" but there's actually no internet connection. How do I solve this? I've already tried uninstalling the device but apparently didn't work
Btw does "uninstalling" the device (the ethernet adapter) restore it's config settings to the default ones?
Because I changed them when it was connected to the other router to optimise the connection, I used most of the settings show in the video < https://youtu.be/6KVuhK0lkFc
Maybe there something I've changed that doesn't make it work properly
A quick and easy guide to fix all the lag and packet loss issues on the system end to rule out any problems related to your pc. If you still have issues after following this tutorial, the culprit is likely your router/user/ISP
How are the two routers connected? Is the first one connected to (or a combo with) the modem, and then the second router set to wireless bridge mode with the DHCP server disabled?
2nd router is connected to the 1st one via ethernet
Ok, is it in bridge mode?
It would bridge the two networks together and the primary one would handle everything related to addressing
If you've got two different networks with the same local IP subnet then there's your problem
Uhmm I still don't get it
I know it worked like 2 months ago when I didn't set up the second router
But now that I put it back to the 1st one doesn't work anymore
Ok. Let's say you've got 2 networks with the same 192.168.1.0-255 local address. A device plugged into router 2 asks "where is 192.168.1.100?" And router 2 responds "I don't know, I'll ask the Internet" which means the request gets sent to router 1. Router 1 says "192.168.1.100 is here, I have it." And sends that info back to router 2 and the requesting device. It appears to function normally.
Now flip it. The requesting device is on router 1.
"Where is 192.168.1.100?"
Router 1 responds "I don't know, and neither does the Internet. Connection not possible." Even though 192.168.1.100 is attached to router 2.
It's also possible to double assign an address like this causing further problems.
"Where is 192.168.1.100?"
"It's local, I have it. Here they are."
Device responds "wtf is this I wasn't expecting that connection" and kills the process.
Okey I kind of got that, but then why do all the other devices work fine, doesn't matter if they're connected to router 1 or 2
Without seeing a network map including devices and their assigned DHCP and static addresses I couldn't tell you specifically why. It would be a bad idea sharing that too lol.
Setting router 2 to wireless bridge mode will probably fix everything.
As far as I don't share my public IP it should be fine
I had already tried that when I set it up but my main one doesn't support this function + they don't work too well together because they're complete different routers
Alternatively if you can't set bridge mode for whatever reason, make the routers different network subnets. E.G. 192.168.1.0 /24 and 192.168.2.0 /24
That'll avoid the routers getting confused. And disable the firewall on router 2.
How do I do those two things? :)
What model is router 2
Fritzbox 7530
If I remember correctly
Tomorrow I'll try to solve some other way first because I know they used to work no problem when I moved the pc from one router to the other
Then if I can't get it to work I'll just do what you said
My first router-modem allows me to set up some stuff relative to DHCP, should I check it out?
I find it hilarious that this thing advertises 300Mb DSL, which doesn't exist
I could also go with a dynamic io because all of my devices never get a new one assigned
I think it does exist
Or maybe I'm wrong
It might exist technically speaking but it requires you to rewire all the telephone lines in the house and the poles to the ISP
If you don't do that you're probably limited to 3Mb or 6Mb
It's also very short range
You need to be within 1KM of the terminal to get 100Mb
Oh
But I guess it could be limited to 300mbps on the dsl port, the rest goes up to 1gbps (like when you hook it up to another router)
Yeah it can "technically" do 300 on the phone modem DSL port but only when connected short range to other devices that also support it
Gigabit ports for ethernet would be how most people use it
My modem is connected with copper cable, oxidized, half eaten, and laying behind a baseboard but I still manage to get 190 download
And 20 upload
Ok, tanks. I'll check tomorrow if I'm able to get it to connect and I'll let you know.
Well.. good night
my cousin's pc is stuck in the BSOD critical process died loop
I tried to fix windows with a clean boot usb
but it doesn't let me
I can't even reset the computer
Sounds more like a hardware error
That's the first thing I'd try but it could be any critical hardware like that
At what stage is the installer failing?
so it didnt work if I clicked the repair your computer option
so I installed windows again
and then it was like I need to restart to complete and it hung on the bios screen
Ok so the installer thought it completed and then it crashed on boot
Sounds like the drive yeah
Ok so i tried it again and it actually went through this time
prompted me to enter the email and went through more setupo
so im gonna pray that this works because I want to play diablo lol
For my server static IP I simply used the DHCP setting provided by the 1st router, I'm not going to change stuff on the other router right now, it requires a bunch of time I don't really have, I'll try another day if I need to. Thanks btw
Bro why does my pc keep disconnecting from my Ethernet
I set every power saving option for Ethernet to disabled, uninstalled and reinstalled drivers, ran command prompt
And I still get randomly disconnected when I’m playing games or running programs
Could be the ethernet cable, router, provider etc
I know in my case that was the fault of the very nature of wireless connections. I used the t-mobile home internet and I couldn't keep a stable connection because once in a while ping would spike so high I would disconnect.
Ethernet cable is fine tho
Perfectly working condition and plugged into the right area
Router also fine
Everything outside of the pc is fine
It’s the pc itself disconnecting from the internet randomly while I’m running games or applications
Then I have to either troubleshoot it to fix it or it makes me do a full reboot to reconnect again
And yk when u in the middle of a game that’s a major issue
Ping wouldn’t be a problem for me but now sometimes it RANDOMLY spikes to outrageous amounts
I literally have no solution to this annoying problem
New pc that I can barely use
All because of internet issues
It's one of 3 things then probably. The cable, the ports (both pc and router), or a bad ethernet adapter entirely which you usually have to get a new motherboard to fix, with a warranty replacement, or exchange where you bought it if you're within 30 days of purchase.
Bro
The actual f
Ik for sure it’s not the ports or the motherboard
It’s the pc not recognizing it sometimes and just randomly disconnecting
It’s weird
It’s like a bug or something
Every driver is installed and updated
Honestly
It might….be the cable
Might
Heard sometimes the cable could be broken or dead or just not functional
So I might have to buy a new Ethernet cable
Smh
There goes another 8 bucks lol
And how do you know that for sure? Have you tried it on another router entirely and it worked?
Tried what
Your pc
Right so how do you know for sure it's not the motherboard?
Fiber internet
Idk
How do I tell it’s the motherboard
Switch the port on the router you're plugged into, try a new cable, then it has to be the motherboard if it still doesn't work
So basically get a new Ethernet cable
It happens. They can get 99% of the boards off the line perfect, but 1% of the boards they make still numbers in the thousands.
What i might just do
Damn
So not only am I the unluckiest person on this planet
But now also the unluckiest to every buy pc parts
Lmao
Can never catch a break
So I just happened to buy that .0001% faulty motherboard
Unlucky yes, but I've seen someone get 3 different motherboards from 3 different brands and all were bad lol
Out of all ppl who purchased the same exact board
Outrageous
This is just insane
Lmao
Speechless
Start with the cable before you start cursing your luck too much
I should rly just hire someone or pay some random pc expert to literally purchase everything I need for a pc and just assemble it and set it up for me
Because this is stupid ridiculous
Nah I already know my luck is in shambles
I might just go with the cable option
Maybe a faulty Ethernet cable
What motherboard do you have
That literally won't change you getting a doa motherboard lol
Or one with some defect of any kind
Try the cable first indeed
Could drivers be an issue?
Not if they reinstalled several times
So nobody can avoid this then
Lmao
Nice
What’s doa
