We're still decades away from that
i think it's clear to see that we could map out a human brain in bits and bytes
but would it be us
we could program it to think like us sure and effectively it would be us
but would it be missing that "soul" element that most religions and atheists alike seem to believe in
and what's our right to say that it DOESN'T have this quote-on-quote soul?
Part of what makes us human is not only our ability to think and rationalize, but how we react to others emotionally and physically. That would be VERY difficult for a computer to emulate without processing hormones, pheromones, etc
oh certainly I agree
oh God I saw this really good movie with johnny deep in it
it was a mind upload of him in character
and eventually the computer was so advanced it 3d printed and created a body
a real flesh human body
and he put "himself" back in a body after his original died
what's not?
Transcendence
The concept of being able to upload and download our consciousness to new bodies as we see fit
That was the movie btw
and certainly
I'm buying this right this second. Which platform do you recommend?
which store should I get it in
lol master raceeee baby
Pick your favorite, steam is fine
how many major-ish game stores are there even
i know of steam and epic
and gog
and origin
Uplay
Ubisoft special store
that's one that's one
Battle net
Smaller but relevant
man I gotta say I was just going to screw around on rdr2 and darkly harass some npcs but 2 hours ago when this philosophical floor for conversation started, I wouldn't rather have spent my time any other way
speaking of PCMR
now that I have a pc
why in the world would I buy a console
I've kind of always wanted a ps or xbox
but now that I'm really getting my gears churning what would be a single reason to get either of them
I'd only get one if friends had one or there were games not available on PC
There's less of both these days
honestly just feels to me like they'd both be expensive flex decorations
frownyface.exe
I have a PS4 and a Switch but mostly for my kids
how old're they?
3 and 5
'spect
My 5 year old recently beat Epic Mickey 2, damn prodigy
again, p a r d o n
He also beat two bosses in mega man 3
bro I was playing fossil fighters when I was his age and couldn't get past a stage
I remember back when I discovered the internet
like REALLY discovered its unlimited potential
I was stuck on this game
and didn't know how to format google searches
i remember when i first crossed into learning how to search for things on google
I went from typing sentences to keywords decently fast
I paid $40 of my christmas money for this game that I was stuck in 30 minutes into the 9 hour playtime
and I was about to throw it out, metaphorically speaking, until I tried using whatever I thought the internet was back then
I think it was when I starting really using google that I got my first perspective as to what 'infinite' truly meant
Yeah once you get the concept of what the Internet is and can be, which is the sum of all human knowledge, it's awe inspiring
I'd sure say, and I can't even due my own thoughts justice on how satisfyingly mind blowing all of this is
There's literally no end to what can be learned on the Internet
And that's what's so so beautiful about it
Probably not a full version in the app
plus no dlc
As if awakening from a deep sleep, you find yourself in a strange, contradictory world of ancient ruins and advanced technology. Tasked by your creator with solving a series of increasingly complex puzzles, you must decide whether to have faith or to ask the difficult questions: Who are you? What is your purpose? And what are you going to do abo...
$7.99
22636
85
$10 worth for gold edition?
DLC is very worth playing, especially if you find the main game puzzles too easy
Steam summer sale ftw
Alright, woohoo!
Welp, I'm settled. Pulling the trigger on the buy right now
"It is said the purpose of a good book is to disturb the comfortable and comfort the disturbed. Now I know it applies to video games as well."
Yep. If you haven't asked yourself why humans are special, what makes us different, and why are machines any different, by about 1/4 of the way through the game, you're doing it wrong.
So the goal is to find humanity within robots through puzzles?
Hmm, the puzzles are a side diversion at best to give you time to comprehend and ponder the materials presented
Above all else in that game btw, think outside the box
The serpent will challenge your sense of self. Are you even human?
Alrighty, duly noted and will do! I'll be back after I finish this entire game
I have no idea what this means or implies and yet it's the coolest sentence I've ever read
See you next week then

Maybe more than a week after I recover from the psychological rearing and existential scarring I receive
Was great talking to you, be back after a while
G'night, see you around
I just pulled the trigger on it and now I got 11 days to prepare myself to play it
95% positive reviews should say it all
My wallet is hating me.
I could never play all of my games in my lifetime, I've also got at least 200 on other platforms
Kinda been burned out on games lately
I recently got out my NFSMW 05 CD and got that running
That game aged well
I'm still missing some disks I have no idea where they went
I had nolf 2 somewhere
Burnout games aged really well too
Dynamic damage is still better than most modern games
I miss Midnight Club 3 Dub Edition for the original Xbox. Was one of my most favorite games
MC 2 on ps2 was what I did a fair bit. The batman like rocket car was awesome.
Let me think... PS2... I played the hell out of GT3 and Jak/Ratchet
GT3/4 sure could suck up some time, all the tuning and stuff. NFS Hot Pursuit 2 was 1* of my top picks.
- Doesn't hurt that it had the McLaren F1 and F1 LM. good times. I need to get another ps2.
GT4 was good too, but it didn't like my disc drive
I had Tourist Trophy (the motorcycles version of GT) with the same problem as GT4
Those later games just stopped reading
Of course now I know how to fix it, about 15 years too late
SSD or even a decent HDD would've been awesome. I never bothered since hdds back then & the ps2 ones weren't great.
Yeah I've been refurbishing fat model PS2s for that reason, the HDD compatibility is highly desirable today
You could theoretically store a copy of every game released, even region specific titles, on a single drive these days
…I really thought that said something else

same tbh
I just spent 2 hours scrolling down the under $10 summer sale with no end in sight. I can say... there are a lot of lewd anime games lol
Anyways, totally found like 7 games I've been wanting that were on sale for $1-$5
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/gwxzk9 i'm about to pull the trigger on this for unraid/nas/plex build hows this look or should i change anything. want it to last awaile
Psu, 850 g6 would be a good choice
Ram, id do 32gb 3200c16 silicon power
Unecessary
And please don't spend $210 on a 1650
yep
yeah i was reading that the 1650 would help with transcoding
@strong prawn ive already given you a list here
it won't
The igpu could do that just fine tbh
intel quicksync already does it well
ive told em
seem to have ignored me the first time
I would not buy most of this
What's the budget?
900
Would actually do this instead
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/V4X66r
PC Builder - Intel Core i3-12100
psu was on sale when bought
PC Builder - Intel Core i5-12400F
I shccee
twas just a base to work off of
also h670 for the extra lanes
since tons of drives
Aye but way cheaper board and more sata on the b660 steel legend
^
Rm 750w for 112 is a terrible price
Yeah but the board is 40$ cheaper to start with
Use that 40$ to buy 2 more sata add in cards stonks
fair enough
although they need multiple nvme slots as well
which makes that board doodoo
nvm pcpp has wierd pics
Return the psu and do this
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/WgYx2m
PC Builder - Intel Core i5-12400F, Radeon RX 6600 XT, Phanteks Eclipse G360A ATX Mid Tower
It has 2 nvme slots
ye i missed em
Did you think it had none?
Im not returning anything
Smh
Well then you overpaid for stuff but do what you have with the rest of the list
You where asking for help and best thing you could do is my list so that's why i said return
Okay
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/h9qvbK
@strong prawn
PC Builder - Intel Core i3-12100, Fractal Design Define R5 ATX Mid Tower
dont ask again
thought it had just the 1
Fair enough
Why'd you go for so expensive case?
Nvm cheapest with 8 bays
nerd
why use desktop drive for a system that will run 24/7
?
ok I just look for stuff that wont fail I lost so much data to do Synology failing do to bad boards and power supplys
x300 is very very reliable
you can go n300 if u want too tho
ok thank you
but will use my lsi hba instead of the sata expansion
as i have a few of those at home
why does pc part picker add mail in rebates
They don't, and there's a filter to exclude mir from the prices you see.
well for me they do lol
@viscid solar funny to see the PSU with the only rgb in the build
Gpu😩
They do for default but you can untick it
That's what I meant.
Does anyone know if a 650w psu is enough for a 3070fe and a 11700k? I have a 700w but it’s 80+ white and I would rather use the 650 gold that I have in my current build
What 650w is it?
EVGA supernova 650 gt
Decent unit, should be enough, I just wouldn't be overclocking that at all
K thx. I’ll try to upgrade to a 850w which should be enough once’s there’s a good deal for it. Considering getting a 1000w for future upgrades but most 1000w are still too expensive for me
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/8XBkjZ Opinions on this budget build? I already have a spare 1060 to throw in it
PC Builder - Intel Core i5-12400F, Cooler Master MasterBox Q300L TUF Gaming Edition MicroATX Mini Tower
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/f9nx2m @mossy venture changed the mobo on this, think this is better?
PC Builder - Intel Core i5-12400F, GeForce RTX 3080 12GB LHR, Corsair 4000D Airflow ATX Mid Tower
the motherboard is a little more expensive the one you had, but it does have better features that I'm okay with spending the extra buck for
Like this
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/srsDJM
PC Builder - Intel Core i5-12400F, GeForce GTX 1060 6GB, Cougar MX330-G Air ATX Mid Tower
It's just a placeholder lol
yeah lmao
Especially the psu, BQ is not great, tuf bronze is cheaper and better built
There's a reason the BQ is nicknamed the EVGA BBQ
https://pcpartpicker.com/product/32NxFT/asus-prime-b660-plus-d4-atx-lga1700-motherboard-prime-b660-plus-d4 have a look at this one
159 for b660 I wouldn't do when there's z690 pro-a at 154 tbh
Msi b660 pro wifi ddr4 is 120$
Ah b660 steel legend matx version is 110 atm iirc
I mean does it have what the one I listed have, heard it was pretty good for the price and that the Asus one was a watered down version
They're all fine for 12400f
Steel legend would be your best choice for all-white
The mATX version
if I didn't get the mobo in white, is that gigabyte board good?
It's good but I wouldn't buy a b660 at that price, not when there's cheaper options that are better value
MSI pro b660-a wifi is 120 and it's as good or better
That's solidly B tier psu, you're be fine. I somewhat suggest the future psu upgrade to definitely wait a bit (get an ATX3 model so support 40/50 series w/o using an adapter and 2-3 cables like usual)
I'll look if there's a normal wegg list instead of that io link.
Oh final question (knowing me this isn't the last), are there places that sell rgb strips, or things that can just add to the case?
If you on phone open it in Google it will show correctly
I mean what's your budget?
1300
trying to buy everything from newegg?
Don't really need an AIO for a 12400F
Thats what I learned from these people lol
Yeah friend also said that but I was like it will look better
I mean yeah
but if you want a good computer for 1300 you could save by getting a normal cooler
hold on one sec
3050 could go for the EVGA model as well would cost less and 2 fans is more than enough
For 1300$ you could use more things into the system like more storage
or a better gpu...
This is miles better
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/Zjtzk9
PC Builder - Intel Core i5-12400F, GeForce RTX 3070 LHR, Cougar MX330-G Air ATX Mid Tower
Thanks I appreciate that lol
But yeah Das is right about that, you were def spending way to much on the mobo
when you could move that money into other things
like a 3070
Mobo, ram, case, cooler, a few things lol
LOL
Thank you I will look into it
Np 👍
So much options it’s crazy
Like I decided to just stick with the Gigabyte b660, even though it's pricy, some other friends were also recommending me that mobo over the asus one.
$1513.38 🙂
Does anybody know/can help me on how to connect to Wifi on a computer without an OS. I’m new to building computers and need a little help.
I couldn't find it on part picker lol
PC Builder - Intel Core i5-12400F, GeForce RTX 3060, Corsair 5000D AIRFLOW ATX Mid Tower
does it have usb bios flashback or???
Id rather go Bazooka than a Pro model @cyan ravine
Don't have to worry about the whole installing the I/O shield
and looks better
It'll be updated enough, don't worry about that
🙂
I've yet to hear of a single B660 that didn't support 12400 out of the box
You could, but I wouldn't use a G5 if a tuf bronze is there.
I would also avoid vengeance ram like the plague

G5 is a B tier PSU
that's why I asked this lol
Is it? Oh then it's alright then, I was recalling it as c tier my b
Does anybody know/can help me on how to connect to Wifi on a computer without an OS. I was told I need it to download my OS. I’m new to building computers and need a little help.
Download the os on another pc
The guys original list as well has RGB memory which is why i put RGB memory in my list
Then stick it on a usb and put that into the new pc
Also i went for 3600MHz CL16
I have done that, then what? Just download it with an activation key?
does that corsair case from with fans?
Would still pick like, silicon power rgb or something else. Vengeance mixes ic's so it's unreliable
You don't even need a key to install windows, that can be later. Boot to/from the windows usb and install windows, somewhere through the install hit "activate later"
I can't even keep up with the conversation
LOL
So I can have windows work and game on my computer without an activation key?
You should be able to set up the usb to load windows installer on the new pc and then run it there to do the install lol
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/tpqjJM Changed the memory for even tighter timings and more RGB lol
PC Builder - Intel Core i5-12400F, GeForce RTX 3060, Corsair 5000D AIRFLOW ATX Mid Tower
Ok thanks y’all. I appreciate the help.
The wifi drivers will load up with the installer
@cyan ravine Does the the Corsair 4000D Airflow case have fans? or do I need to get some. (also are they rgb fans lol)
So I don’t need to connect to Wifi before installing OS?
Comes with to black fans
mmm
4000D/5000D usually comes with 1 or 2 black fans
It is full RGB and CL14
https://pcpartpicker.com/product/TBfFf7/team-t-force-delta-rgb-16-gb-2-x-8-gb-ddr4-3600-cl18-memory-tf4d416g3600hc18jdc01

I paid less for my 32GB of 3600c16 ballistix, lol
Hence why i said tighter timings lol
Also I would opt for 3200 on 12400F because SA voltage is locked so no guarantee 3600 runs
I paid $110 for 16gb RGB B-die lmfao
Let alone 3600 c14
do you know any good rgb strips I could put in that case?
did I see
Not for corsair cases
170 dollar ram
I keep thinking about this sort of https://www.newegg.com/oloy-16gb-288-pin-ddr4-sdram/p/N82E16820821426
You did
Rip
the f
Ez-diyfab have some nice cheap frosted strips on amazon if those are worth a look
I'm over rgb these days tho
who thought that was a reasonable price?
@astral holly try ez-diyfab on amazon
and achieve your purpose easily?
Not bad at all
now that's reasonable
You know you guys take it too serious even when i tend to end it with"lol"
shells out 170 for ram
B DIE BDIE BDIE. jk
B DEAD
https://www.amazon.com/EZDIY-FAB-LED-Addressable-Motherboard-Lighting/dp/B08BRGL9D5?ref_=ast_sto_dp ?
can that go around the whole case?
Wasn't it only like 2 years ago when all memory was like 150$ for 16gb?
if you buy enough yeah
I don't know about the width but when I was obsessed with rgb these were cheap and looked really good. Phanteks neons are another option
There was a point during the shortage where memory got expensive but crucial was always cheap, under $100 for 16gb 3600c16 often
Ballistonks
BallStix
Could of been 2019 then cause i remember at one point when there was a memory shortage and prices were crazy
The 32GB of 3200c16 was $90ish a few months back.
(literally a few months ago)
You're having a memory shortage right now
I love the marketing
RENDER IN HIGHER RESOLUTION AND DO MORE BETTER AND MORE RELIABLY
@cyan ravine you have to admit for 10$ more this looks a lot better than the board you picked out
Silicon Power DDR4 32GB (16GBx2) Zenith RGB RAM Gaming 3200MHz (PC4 25600) 288-pin C16 1.35V UDIMM Desktop Memory Module - Low Voltage SP032GXLZU320BDD https://a.co/1SUHxqq
This one's for $97 for 32GB of RGB RAM
Render in higher resolutions. Witness realistic pictures and smooth transitions. End choppy animation and catastrophic lag. Handle complex tasks with ease. Browse unlimited tabs and multitask like a pro. Do what you love faster with confidence. Sound like a dream? The new XPOWER Gaming DDR4 makes...
WITNESS REALISTIC PICTURES
Either is fine. Steel legend is $10 cheaper than that if you want looks
I would of went for that but then people go crazy when they look at an ASRock board lol
Sorry 20
Yeah but it's a 12400f
You aren't running a K sku or i9 on it lol
Mid range asrock = fine for low end

i9 12900 though is still a 65w chip lol
Sips isn't gonna like me for that
assrock
Except it's actually more like 210W lol
At base clock*, maybe (and/or under 30% load)
Max turbo power goes up to 202
Lets just slap this i9 in it then https://ark.intel.com/content/www/us/en/ark/products/134601/intel-core-i912900t-processor-30m-cache-up-to-4-90-ghz.html
Close enough, that's still way more than 65 lol
Europe and japan only rn?
Aliexpress
Some sellers on there though i have seen sell within the US and would have 4 to 16 days until you would get it
@cyan ravine Lets both just agree on that we picked out boards better than a Asus Prime

Ok
I found a used CPU locally from me for 60$ and i am thinking of buying it
i7 4770S
Just showing the specs of it
I wonder if a 5500 XT would bottleneck it lol
hard to say which is the worse "bottleneck", haha. btw: (my "3770" was only $35). Nah, 4770(S) probably isn't worth $60
60$ Canadian
Have to say it since most people tend to think i mean US
which that would be around 46$ US
Also it would be fun to test out a S model from the past
oh I see, just a bit lower base clock and the moderate 84 to 65w tdp change. Depending on mobo & if it's like 3rd gen then you could probably also adjust the boot clock up 300ish mhz
actually....cross that 🙂
Can someone recommend a good vertical gaming monitor? I want it to be 27" or lower and 144 hz. Tag me or dm with ideas plz
By vertical you mean it can rotate 180°?
for some reason renaming my other PC causes it to not display out when it boots to windows lol
Would a 1050 TI 4gb out perform a 1060 3gb modle?
Would rhe performance be close or would the 1060 3gb just be better overall
Techpowerup says 1060-3gb is 30% faster
Ah ty
I'm just thinking for the future if it would be smarter for me to buy a 30 or 40 series when it comes out or just buy a 2060 or something. I don't really game that much and don't see why I should spend the extra bit of money. The most intense game on my pc I play is rust and that's more cpu intensive.
RX 6600s are pretty cheap on ebay
2060 might end up cheaper than the newer stuff, but also not a great "value". 3050 same thing, well at least the prices I've seen for it usually.
technichally $255 after mir https://pcpartpicker.com/product/M9ytt6/msi-radeon-rx-6600-8-gb-mech-2x-video-card-rx-6600-mech-2x-8g
But is it worth spending the extra $50 on the performance when I may not need it?
Ig the counter argument I'd what if I choose to play games that need the extra performance
Is part of how I feel, $50 "now" would be easier than perhaps regretting it later and switching to a better gpu wouldn't be simply throwing $50 at it. Sure at the time I could've saved around 25% or $100ish on a 1070, but pfft. Live a little.
$50ish spread out over months and months, that's nothin imo.
Lmfao
I'm just trying to think cuz rn I got pc's one with a 1060 and another with a 1050ti, one of em much worse than the other, so I may just build a $500 system and throw the 1060 in that and replace the old 1060 pc with the 1050ti
It will atleast save me a few bucks
Like $200
I wish their was a way to share an Amazon list cuz half the parts don't work on pc par picker with mobile Amazon links
opinions? https://pcpartpicker.com/list/qMV7C6
PC Builder - Intel Core i5-12400F, Cougar MX330-G Air ATX Mid Tower
Yeah I had somthin pretty similar to that
ssd price is meh, was down to $62 before
I went with a ryzen 5 5500 I think and abit of a cheaper case
Only like $30 less though for thst build
Is there an all black mobo for same price?
I hate the green lol
PC Builder - Intel Core i5-12400F, Cougar MX330-G Air ATX Mid Tower
yeah i get that
while its a great mobo, the green is terrible
slightly worse mobo, but it has wifi and isnt ugly
and still perfectly fine for a 12400f
Team T-FORCE VULCAN Z 32GB (2 x 16GB) 288-Pin PC RAM DDR4 3200 (PC4 25600) Intel XMP 2.0 Desktop Memory Model TLZGD432G3200HC16FDC01 https://www.newegg.com/team-32gb-288-pin-ddr4-sdram/p/N82E16820331618?Item=N82E16820331618&Source=socialshare&cm_mmc=snc-social-_-sr-_-20-331-618-_-07052022
Slightly cheaper ram 😅
^
sub timings are a lot worse, its worth the extra 5 for the better subtimings
what do you want rgb on?
Nothing, I want no rgb, I hate it. I wanted more of a blackout look
stock is fine
it's not bad
not very good but it's made to cool the cpu just enough
if the case is good enough
besides with the rgb cooler bacca put in there, you can just not plug the rgb cable
and you won't have any rgb
You mean primary timings
Is trident z rgb ram better than vengeance pro rgb? Wondering what I should get
corsair makes ass ram
Subs are set by the board (except for some like tRC which are rarely set by xmp profiles)
theyre known for mixing dies in the same kits
they have good bins, yet still mix dies in the same kits
meaning they are capable of making kits that wont even run xmp
Corsair has some good super high end stuff
@mossy venture https://pcpartpicker.com/list/vHX44s
PC Builder - Intel Core i5-12400F, Deepcool MACUBE 110 MicroATX Mini Tower
But their budget/mid range is just meh
Corsair have that 6600c34 kit iirc
Much more to my color liking
i wouldnt get that case
;-;
Tldr don't get Corsair unless you know what you're getting into
Corsair ram isn’t the best for performance, but looks though 👀
I go ebay dumpster diving for unbinned Corsair kits occasionally
But that's d5, and probably costs a fortune
I've found some S8B, N8B and H4A and S4E
Any good black matx cases in that price range?
All under $50/16gb
The MX330 is a good case
opinions on the one i just linked?
though i think its full atx
Too tall for me, looks like slendermans brother
Literally "dumpster", since looking for corsair
https://pcpartpicker.com/product/vDhmP6/cooler-master-masterbox-mb311l-argb-microatx-mid-tower-case-mcb-b311l-kgnn-s02 what aboutt his, and dont plug the rgb in?
Gskill only use c-die in their begger bins (for the most part)
Corsair has much more variety
I have some decent rip5 cjr
I think there is a model that is more open in the front
the case just looks tall in pics tbh
That might not be bad
most mid towers look fine
Others don't have easy IC idenfication so I can't tell how good they are
i believe that is it
I like that one alot aswhell
that looks alright
If i was to pick out a coolermaster case for under 100 i would go with the NR600
It the looks man xd I need the blackout
I need help I just turned on a brand new build and my pc fans aren't turning on they are all plugged in the CPU fan isn't turning on eather
If I can get a build with blackout for under 600 I'll be happy, I have gpu
https://pcpartpicker.com/product/dgndnQ/thermaltake-versa-h18-microatx-mini-tower-case-ca-1j4-00s1wn-01 this is also decent, this or the matrexx one works
Are you sure you plugged in your fans in the right area's?
Cause CPU fan only goes in one spot
Not bad, just abit of rgb that ticks me off
h18 doesnt have any rgb
Wrong lonk
it has no rgb lol
Strip on front?
mb311l wont have rgb if you dont plug the fan rgb headers in
they want cheaper
Ah
PC Builder - Intel Core i5-12400F, Deepcool MATREXX 40 MicroATX Mid Tower
K there's rhe final build mr Forg
looks good
Mb311L also kinda bad for some stuff
It was decent when it was like
50/40$
I feel like at the price it is now there's better
[As someone who has owned the case]
oh nvm mb
saw the amazon price first
I'd also get the G model personally
Turns out I really need those fans
Playing apex at max settings sounds fun till the glass on the pc can cook a steak
Remove glass
pure mindset of 5800x owner lmfao
I mean if it's over ambient are you even trying?
I know, but... I like when I play games and it sits at 40c
do you think 48c is not a good temperature under gaming load for a 12600K?
and for the record, i am currently gaming with 37c cpu temp
genshin?
Single ccx?
💀
5600x and 5800x are single ccx
basically really small area where most of the heat is
so heat density can become an issue
I see
i want to test genshin fps unlocker mod on an alt account
but i feel like if i taste high fps genshin i won't be able to go back
i think youll need a better gpu first
true
Same thing happened with me and elden ring widescreen and fps unlock
It's soo much better
Widescreen elden ring would look epic af
yeah i just don't want to risk getting banned for game modification lol
Full on movie mode
elden ring doubt they care
you saw when i maxed out the 3090 with genshin right?
yea
You just need to play offline to be safe
Since it will probably trigger EAC
i see
as it is i play genshin with my cpu in power saver mode, monitor at 60hz, and gpu mining while gaming
💀
coping with 60 fps
Since the new coop mod runs on its own servers you can run without eac and modded
It's sweet
the game is 99% single player right?
I'm just waiting for the QD-OLED panel to be available locally so I can grab that beauty
Say 70%
Previous souls games had much more online stuff in the form of covenants
haven't played it myself, watched my friend play a bit
What is the best rgb aio I can get for under 200
Ye I’m going to ditch my h150i here soon for the Galahad
Yeah the RGB one exists but it's just one solid color at a time per fan which usually isn't too desired
I wanted to make a comment about white builds, but I realized it might seem racist.
Gotcha, I would just get the rgb-less version myself I think
That's what I did and upgraded to argb later
Why?
because I didn't want argb at first.
Well I was asking why you got A-RGB eventually
I could have went with rgb, but I also want the option to change colors whenever I feel like it.
plus I also have my rear fan set to change colors as my cpu gets hotter than I like.. and my gpu bracket does the same for gpu
Until I can get some new fans for my pc what could be an alternative
I was thinking of getting a 3080ti. And playing 4k on games like siege but I know 1440p is probably what I'll end up running on other games like Cyberpunk to get the best FPS at max quality. Would it still be a good idea to go 4k or stay at 2k for monitors?
Am I able to use this chat for questions and help?
Absolutely
Is it okay if you daisy chain 2 argb (fan) connectors with a graphics card argb connector into one arbg header
So I just built my first pc yesterday got it up and running and was working fine went into the bios to turn on secure boot (for some weird problem with valorant and windows 11) f10 save and restarted then after it restarted and was loading back up I lost display, keyboard mouse and also my headset my pc is still on but none of the above I turned off and u plugged pc and tried to reset cmos by removing battery and nothing had changed can anyone help?
Should be fine yeah
Did you make sure to also unplug the pc from the wall when taking out the cmos battery?
And how long did you wait before putting it back in
Yea unplugged and waited like 3-4 min
Right time to start checking power connections etc then
Also try with different display cable/port
Any suggestions on which connections Besides the 24 and 8 on my mb I’ve already tried those and I’ve also tried a different display port also tried an hdmi port
I’m just lost as to why I don’t have keyboard and mouse as well
specs?
also when u say loading back up what do u mean exavtly
Ryzen 9 5900x
3070
X570aorus mb
32gb of ddr4 3600 (4x8)
I loaded into the bios to try and turn on secure boot for valorant cuz for whatever reason it needs it I pressed f10 to save and restart my pc restarted was loading back into windows then I lost the display and all USB ports so my keyboard mouse and headset aren’t working anymore (no rgb)
How long did u wait
Wdym?
how long did you wait after it restarted?
After it restarted and was loading back in I waited probably 3-4 min after I lost the rgb to my keyboard mouse and I lost my display
My pc after reboot
For about 5 seconds while windows was loading up I could see the windows logo and the swirling circle
And I had keyboard and mouse until display went out when the display went out I lost the keyboard and mouse as well
and whenever you start the pc, you get some sort of display?
Nope
After that happened I get no more display
But all rgb in my pc is lit up all the fans gpu and the motherboard rgb
So everything is getting power but my USB ports and the display isn’t receiving a signal
you dont even see the gigabyte logo?
Nope I’m getting nothing on screen
Since this started when you changed a bios setting you could try clearing cmos and seeing if it'll boot
Give it plenty of time when you try to boot it
Tried to clear cmos once already I’m trying a second time rn
By any chance do u know if clearing cmos will change the version of the bios or is it just the settings?
It only resets the settings
Solid still 0 progress nothing has changed at all
Ye CMOS is just stores date/time/etc
Anyone got anymore suggestions for me cmos reset didn’t work ram and connections are all plugged in but still no display or usb power from the motherboard or case
Do i need muffler bearings for my fans
Just buy some fans. You can choose more expensive ones that in some cases will move more air at lower noise levels, or get cheaper fans that are a bit louder and/or move less air (or in some cases are just cheaper)
Do I need muffler bearings? My friend mentioned it
Lol
I don't really have anything to add unless you're asking for specific fan recommendations.
Hehehe
He’s screwing with you
The second oldest car joke in the book second to blinker fluid
adding muffler bearings is like doing an oil change on your tires
Considering my bad temps on this 3600x + arctic freezer 34 eSports duo I was wondering if the thermal paste I applied a few time ago was good: amount and "pattern" or if it is just this summer that makes temps go insane
Could be just mounting pressure
I personally do the spread method of applying thermal paste, but I'd guess it's more about the mount or case personally
Looks like a Jackson Pollock. Next time just do a big dot in the middle. It's square and cooler pressure will spread it out. Any extra time than that and you could/should just spread it like Brauer and I. Don't care if it's excessive for Intel, and I then wipe along the very edge so nothing goes off the ihs.
Yeah, better a bit too much paste than too little (assuming you're using a standard non-conductive paste)
Okey
It'll be fun to deal w/ a cpu that doesn't peak at literally 65w or less.
Fans are like a one size fits all right?
I knew it bro
No, there are different fan sizes. What case do you have?
There are both differences in fan height/length and fan width
Phanteks p300
Got some 120mm fans
It says on the phanteks website that it takes 120mm fans I'm pretty sure
Ok, yeah it can take 4 120mm fans or 3 140s
Thank God
I would be surprised if you ran into any issues with fan width, I that's more common for itx builds
Most fans are 25mm thick
That's what these fans are
Yeah should be good
👍🏾
I'd do front intake, top and rear exhaust
The "ugly" part of the fan (with the sticker indicating the fan specs) points in the direction of airflow
So on the front I'd put that side of the fan facing in toward the PC, and on the back a I'd put it facing the outside of the case
That's kinda difficult to understand without a visual representation 🥲
It's a different manufacturer, but I'm not aware of one that bucks this convention
I changed my PC parts again lol https://pcpartpicker.com/list/ZT7Kcb (this is the ssd in the thing, not the wd one: https://www.newegg.com/neo-forza-1tb-nfp035/p/0D9-007T-00040?Item=9SIAC0EGVD5636)
PC Builder - Intel Core i5-12400F, Phanteks Eclipse G360A ATX Mid Tower
is it worth that price?
I would get the p360a over that case
Aside from that, looks alright
214xt also a good alternative to that heatsink
🙂
P360a or 4000d airflow actually
99% of "120mm" fans are the common 25mm thick. Funny enough phanteks is also 1 company that has a good thicker fan called the T30, 30mm thick and great for radiators or really thick heatsinks.
My pc is a heat trap
The T30 is good for everything tbh
I have no idea where my fans plug into
There’s CPU Fan and usually labeled SysFan or Fan1,2,x with 4 pin headers on them
My thing is 3 pins
Male or female connector
Those look fine
From that pic you will generally plug the 3 pin plug into the left 3 pins in the header
Your motherboard user manual will tell you specifically where but that’s generally how it will go in
It's gonna need a bit of force
Don’t force it
And I'm scared it's gonna mess it up
Could just be a stiff plug
Try to work it down slowly
Some things are just going to be stiff, that’s normal
I had it plugged in but my brother took it out and I can't get it back in
Then just push harder god damnit
@kindred pawn there’s generally several fan headers on a motherboard, you could try using a different one
It be working
Good job!
Your YouTuber bet
Yep, for the unenlightened:
Very much appreciated my brother says it goes against what he was taught in school 😂
On the top right pic a 4pin fan could actually work on a 3pin header, just so happens 3pin headers are rare* these days of course. The "4th" wire is for pwm. At least it's good most decent mobos have 4+ headers
Yep
Wait so if that's the only plug available
Where do the other 2 fan plugs supposed to go
Like the power one
Can someone help me my pc is freezing
Can you rephrase? No way there's only 1 fan header. Cha_fan & sys_fan are the same. Cpu_fan of course for the cpu. Might also have to buy a fan splitter cable.
Cha_fan is chassis fan is it not?
On some fans you can daisy chain them together, otherwise you plug them into different fan headers on the motherboard.
If they have RGB, boards also have RGB headers (sometimes called rainbow headers) as well.
But those are different plugs.
I'm pretty sure the 3 plugs are being used 😭
By other fans probably :p
Splitters work
Where does this go
looks like sata power
It's for my fan adapter
might be sata powered
Your psu should have a cable that looks something like this
Got it
It be lighting up noa
Would y'all trust COMeap?
Im looking for a 90 degree 8pin vga power cable adapter thing
there's this for dual 8 pin cards
https://www.evga.com/products/productlist.aspx?type=17
Nah i only need single 8 pin
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/WB8nd9 is 750w okay for this build
PC Builder - Intel Core i5-12400F, GeForce RTX 3080 12GB LHR, Lian Li LANCOOL 205M MicroATX Mid Tower
that looks good
id get the 850w g6 tbh
or the 850 GT on evga b stock
actually the case has a solid front panel
take a look at p200a or nr200p
Do you want matx?
I mean the Lian Li case in there is mATX, and I think the p200a is also mATX
Yeah but is there a specific reason why an matx case?
smaller?
Ok
Hmm
Also agree with Bacca, if you haven't bought the G6 psu yet, it's 85 for an 850W one on evga's own website rn
750W still perfectly fine there though, it's just a value suggestion
?
gt is a bit worse, but its still a great psu
More importantly GT is $50
yea, misread the size of case you went with
the issue with it is that is has a solid front panel, which is awful for airflow
the mb311l is a good matx case
so the p200a a good choice
tho it is mitx
oh yeah it is lol
PC Builder - Intel Core i5-12400F, GeForce RTX 3080 12GB LHR, Cooler Master MasterBox MB311L ARGB MicroATX Mid Tower
yeah, looks good
I can go to sleep now.....
yo whats the best motherboard and cpu i could get for like under 170?
12100f and h610
yea thats like 210 tho
i dont mind that
ay great thanks man
Look for a 12100f used
Also while the mobo is ass, $185 before tax https://pcpartpicker.com/list/jnM7rr
PC Builder - Intel Core i3-12100F
Is 12100 the lowest/cheapest 12thgen quadcore? I was gonna bring up the G7200 but pretty sure* it's dual core. I give another vote for 12100(F), would be worth it.
g7400 = 2c/4t
Yea yikes, $80 & if budget was really a big deal then the 10100F is $11 less and obviously 4c/8t. Apparently 12100F is also $106 at newegg right now.
Hair over a C-note for a good quad core, nice times we live in.
12100f has been $106 for a good while
H610 is soo meh lol
When the ds3h b660 is soo cheap
Gigabyte
I built my pc but nothing is turning on and idk what to do
Yeah, is the psu switched to on?
Yeah everything was plugged in and the psu was turned on but it’s still not starting up
Does it power on?
Nope nothing happens
Motherboard lights turn on?
Nope genuinely nothing happens and I made sure everything was plugged in
Is the power supply on?
Plugged into the wall?
I assume you're using the case switch to try an power on, is that connected too?
Psu is on, I plugged it into the wall, and case switch didn’t do anything either
Tried manually shorting the pins to turn it on?
I’m ngl this is my first time building a computer so I have no clue what that means
Is the outlet working?
Some pics of the PSU and cables plugged into the motherboard are probably necessary at this point
Show where the front connectors are attached on the motherboard
Make sure you put them correctly
like the 24 pin and 8 pin that stuff?
No, the front panel connectors, a bunch of thin cables running to the top/front of ur case
Make sure they're connected on jfp1 connector (unless your mb has a different name for it but I guess not...)
Yep made sure to do it with the right + and -
Oke
The psu switch was also on
Good but not too much
Let me think what else could be...
I’m not sure if I did something wrong or something is wrong with one of the parts
Is CPU fan connector plugged?
Yep it is
👍
Are all connectors like 24 pin 8pin... Connected nicely?
Squish em down
Don't break anything ofc
i think everything is all good they arent wiggling around and i cant push them down anymore from when ifirst dd
did
Ok
Try pressing power button for a few sec
But like the pc doesn't even give a sign of life?
No lights? Fan spinning for a split second??...
Nope nothing even for a split second
Uff
Does that mean I should check out the psu?
Try unplugging something like GPU
It could be the problem but that's the last thing we want to think it's broken
I don’t even have the gpu in right now since I’m just tryna to get it to turn on
Unless you have another laying around you can try with that
I unfortunately do not have a psu lying around to use
Ok
Should I like bring it in to a computer repair store or something?
No
They'll make you pay (no good)
Is it a modular PSU?
If yes check both sides of the cables
It’s semi
One other thing you can try is unplugging PSU from wall plug and wait 1-2mins
Check cables then
This worked on my school PCs when they didn't turn on

This is kinda dumb, but did you double check that the wall outlet is working?
Can use a phone charger to double check that it has power
you can stick a fork in the outlet and if it pops then you know it was receiving power (dont)
The power outlet not working would be the last thing I'd expect
Sure, but if nothing is happening it's worth verifying the simple stuff
Troubleshooting considers everything even down to a stupid level.
Could be as simple as it being a switched outlet and the guy turned the switch off. I definitely did that when my office was flipped around.
Yeah I know
Just like when I plugged the front panel connectors on a completely different connctor (not the jfp1)
💀
I switched it to a outlet that has something plugged in so I know that’s not the problem
Still nothing...
He connected them correctly
I don’t see a pic.
That’s CPU fan.
.
I asked for JFP1.
That’s also not what I asked for.
That’s usb header and a fan header.
I’m wanting to see his connections for power switch etc
Ah only half of the pic loaded for me that’s why
Was only seeing this part of the pic
Lol
@gentle shale
Can I just send you my pc part picker list?
Yes
PC Builder - Intel Core i7-9700KF, GeForce RTX 3060
Still can't see what the problem could be with this build... Are all the components new?
Or are they from a previous build?
Yep all bought off websites
Completely new?
Yep!
Would be to jump two pins on the 24pin and see if the fan starts spinning
No don’t do that….
If it’s not safe don’t bother recommending it dude, come on now.
those parts were bought recently?
if so yikes, 9th gen cpu in 2022 for that much is crazy bad
Price is irrelevant to his issue
i know
Dudes here for help troubleshooting not to be lectured
but if it's broken like this i would just return it and make new build
that is better
@gentle shale I would suggest you unplug (your pc obviously first) and verify you really did plug the right connectors to the right pins on JFP1
He may also have paid the parts much less that what's listed on pcpp
yeah, likely
Yeah, that's why I said its dangerous, he could jump the wrong pins and 🔥
Then don’t recommend stupid crap if you know it’s dangerous.
You don’t know this guys skill level.
Ik
At this point I think it's the PSU
I just said that if he wants to take the risk, it's not the best idea, he only would have needed to jump 2 pins with a cable nothing else
If you do things correctly you won't die.
-psu won't die too
Good for you.
What works for you might not work for him.
If you have to follow up your own advice with “it’s not safe” or “it’s dangerous” it doesn’t belong on this server.
were you talking about jumping the PSU to test if it works?
Yeah
yea thats not dangerous
That's what I meant, if you jump the right ones nothing happens
The fan should start spinning

yea its not complicated at all
@olive cypress don’t act smug, you didn’t bother following up anything you said with a resource.
@leaden mauve thank you for the video.
Now I can learn something today 😁
yea np
So you just wanted me to send a video on how to jum the PSU pins?
Could have just asked which pins, how that worked or whatever...
