its hella expensive
@fossil cedar sorry for the ping but i got a quick question and i know you will have an answer cus ur big brain and helped me with this before
is non ecc non buffered ddr3 ram just like, base ddr3, like https://www.memoryc.co.uk/16817-16gb-g-skill-ddr3-pc3-19200-2400mhz-ripjawsx-series-11-13-13-31-dual-channel-kit.html that
yes why?
just wondering
im giving my mom my old pc but im upgrading it to 16gb
since its at 8gb atm
pls dont buy that kit tho its is horribly overpriced
honestly just get a used 8gb stick imo
im getting 2
cus it has 4 2gb sticks
i got em for like £5 so iw as like, sure
but yeah im getting 2 used 8gb sticks
how much would you say 2 8gb used sticks would go for?
like a general idea
oohh
btw 4*4 is more common for ddr3 so thats also fine
so it would probably cheaper/easier to find?
possibly
Can someone Build me 1500 white pc build
On german partpicker
Gpu, cpu, ram can be from us
Preferably nvidia
do germans use euro? im not smart enough to put the pc together i just wanna know xd
Yeah
ty
does the gpu need to be white?
yes. thats why i ask
white gpu or not is probably the difference between a 3070 and a 3080
mhm
well what do you prefer
3080 strix white: 1369 euro
3080 vision: 1389.83 euro
3080 gaming oc: 883 euro
LOL
looks or performance
I said i can get gpy from us
sure
US prices
3080 vision: no
3080 white strix: $2468.60
you like those better?
3080 gaming oc: $826.49
somehow doubt that will be cheaper than buying it from within germany after shipping and import fees
https://de.pcpartpicker.com/list/PnXkjZ what i have for non white gpu
PC Builder - Intel Core i5-12400F, GeForce RTX 3080 10GB LHR, Phanteks Eclipse P400A Digital ATX Mid Tower
stock cooler?
white gpu https://de.pcpartpicker.com/list/dkHGxs
PC Builder - Intel Core i5-12400F, GeForce RTX 3070 LHR, Phanteks Eclipse P400A Digital ATX Mid Tower
not sure which one to use, 214xt isnt in stock
also not sure on ssd, sn550 750 770 mp33 and mp34 are all more expensive
mobo is kinda bad but probably fine for gaming only
gaming oc isn't bad looking in a white build, this is the side you'll see the most
not quite white but close lol
seems fine
so... you want to avoid import taxes via illegal smuggling?
My brother studies in usa he can get it
what did that change about what i just said
LOL
you're better off buying it from within germany
https://de.pcpartpicker.com/list/HVfyVw adhering more strictly to the 1500 euro budget
PC Builder - Intel Core i5-12400F, Radeon RX 6800 XT, Phanteks Eclipse P400A Digital ATX Mid Tower
@obsidian wigeon Thanks for all of the helpful info. With those limitations in mind, any laptop recommendations? I think the GE76 has two SSD slots, so I could go two 4tb RAID 0 or 8tb single (I think). Problem I am having though is that laptop base specs is like 4k because it will only allow a 30 series graphics card.. So i would be close to like 4.5k or something... Also, have to have a laptop for portability.
the heck?
i paid 1265 for my gp66 with a 3070 140w
$4000 base spec?
what is base spec, a 3060?
please dont buy from that site
ok thanks for the info.
i can't buy directly from MSI - any suggestions on supplier then?
hahaha
why
@earnest olive
i bet my $1265 laptop is within 10% of that
@earnest olive in terms of what? I need to focus on processing power
they want a 12900__ with 64gb of ram and 8tb of ssd storage, theyre fine with adding it themselves
yep
hmm, only 20% behind on cpu
20% goes a long way in the music world. that could be like 20 or more lines of plugins, samples, etc.
but yeah it's gonna be really hard to find a 12900HK with no dgpu
got it
how does the m1 max compare to the 12900hk?
i know people like apple a lot for music stuff
but i know nothing about apples products
Apple is the way to go for music production but he’s claiming his plugins won’t sync well
ah
Logic Pro X tho
oooh i found an i9 laptop with no dgpu
ya, the m1 has reportedly had a TON of issues with plugin compatability. Also, all of my plugins I currently have are in .dll format rather than .aax or whatever, so it would take weeks to get them all converted/re-download
Easily my favorite DAW to work with
Ahhh yeah that would do it
that looks nice
@vague oracle Ableton makes me horn
think this is much better suited to your use case
Never noticed much compatibility issues but I get what you mean about .dll to .aax
oh oops it's backordered on newegg
Lmao I tried out Ableton but it’s not really that good for the type of music I’m usually recording
it's available on amazon for $50 more though
Zenbook 14X OLED Space Edition laptop is a very special, out-of-this world laptop that commemorates the 25th anniversary of the first ASUS laptop sent into space. Zenbook 14X OLED Space Edition laptop is a prestigious special-edition design featuring stunning space-themed graphics on the lid and ...
Got it. Ya, def both have their advantages
I’m mostly doing guitar instrumentals so Logic is
overpaying for the 360hz screen and 3070ti if you're not gaming
ya for sure. they have great stock plugins as well. just don't personally enjoy the workflow as much. especially with automation and things
12900H and 12900HK is not going to make a meaningful difference in a laptop
both of them turbo up to 5ghz
doubt you will be able to overclock the 12900HK past that
@earnest olive ya, but looking at benchmarks this HK in the MSI outperforms event the M1 with creator programs
ya
the asus one is also significantly more portable
the 12900h one sips linked will most likely perform better anyways
since it has ddr4 instead of the 4800c40 ddr5 kit in the other one
and has a much better screen for non gaming tasks, although that probably doesn't matter much for music prod
wait
alright nvm it's dead
32gb LPDDR5
that means it's soldered
yiiiikes
please don't evade the filter
freak
sorry
does the MSI one I linked have additional m.2 ports? also are they soldered as well? do you know how I could check this?
is it possible to solder m.2s?
Don’t solder m.2 lol
i dont even wanna go there lol
i just wanna update SSD and Ram and move on lol (if possible)
yeh
you're looking at another $300 or so for 2x32gb ddr5 sodimms
i mean yeah, but that's not really worse than ddr4-3200c22
fair
ya, figured that would be expensive
i will be able to use it for a very long time though ideally
4 or 5 years i hope
is an SFF desktop entirely out of the question? 12900K is quite a bit better than 12900HK
and you wouldn't have to overpay for a 3070ti
sure, it's still not beating a 12900K though
SFF stands for small form factor
miniature desktop
- portable monitor
less portable than a laptop, but more customizable/upgradeable and can be more powerful
this dude said it keeps up with his desktop
and what's in his desktop? lol
a 12900HK is not going to keep up with a 12900K period
12900K has more cores that turbo higher on a higher power budget
and they're the same architecture so the 12900HK obviously has no architectural advantage
sorry not very tech savvy hence the questions
ya, i just can't have a desktop unfortunately
i'm just asking if a miniature desktop + portable monitor is completely out of the question
i know everyone is going to hound me over the cost as I could prbly afford two or 3 better desktops in terms of performance for the price, but really do need an all in one portable machine
because you say 20% is a lot in the music world, but going up to a desktop is way more than a 20% boost
ya
i mean if it's out of the question it's out of the question i'm not arguing with you about it
i don't hate laptops
people that do probably don't go outside
got it. ya no worries. do need a laptop
just presenting a possibly viable alternative in case you don't know about it
there are console-sized desktops
ya. need a screen on it ideally tbh
just makes everything easier.
so this one, since it already comes with one 32, I would just need another 32 correct? and an 8TB?
no, it'll come with 2x16gb ram
so to run 64gb you will need to replace both sticks
stop that
forgot. but ok
dang
maybe I can sell the hardware I don't need to offset cost slightly
you can't sell the 3070ti or the built in screen
ya true
you can sell the 2x16gb ram and 1tb ssd
can probably recover like $200?
would make this so much easier
well yeah, that's what desktops are for
fully customizable laptops aren't economical
customizable + economical demands modularity, and modularity commands a space premium that laptops can't afford
got it
there are some laptops that have desktop cpu sockets
but they're very expensive and still come with a soldered laptop gpu anyways
so it doesn't really help you out here
ya i saw that
and it still won't achieve full desktop performance due to cooling limitations
do you know what the best SSD for that MSI would be then? samsung maybe?
@earnest olive
https://www.newegg.com/corsair-4tb-mp600-pro-lpx/p/N82E16820236838 2 of these probably, heatsink might not fit in laptop though
not sure how well they would run without heatsink
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08MT67VPV might be better to just save money and get gen 3 drives
not sure how much music production cares about ssd sequential performance
ok i think i have one PICe 4.0 slot and one 3.0 slot. you think i should get one of each and RAID 0 them?
it has 2 pcie 4.0 slots
i know next to nothing about raid but i'd imagine raiding a gen 4 and gen 3 drive isn't the best idea
maybe i was reading an outdated reddit post
could be the 2021 or 2020 model
so you just think two gen 3 would be fine rather than two gen 4? cost vs efficiency type deal?
well its a story of $899.98 vs $1199.98
gotcha. i guess SSD "speed" is just read and write speeds right? nothing related to CPU performance necessarily?
like i said, i don't know how much ssd sequential performance matters for music production
and i also don't know if the ssd heatsinks will fit in the laptop (probably not) or how well those ssds would run without the heatsinks
https://www.newegg.com/titanium-micro-4tb-th4985/p/0D9-00F1-00022? @earnest olive this a bad model of ssd?
im confused why its $200 less than other gen 4 ssds
never heard of the brand
not seeing any reputable reviews on it
phison e16 controller should be fine
but uhh
there are some red flags here
it says it's a gen 3 drive with 4985 mb/s sequential
and then on the packaging it says gen 4
the performance claims are pretty low for gen 4
iops on any size below 4tb are awful
idk, it's hard to say without reputable reviews
Shoot someone help me. My power got cut off randomly while my pc was on.
Now I am unable to turn it on. It would just flicker the lights on for half a second then turn dark again.
What should I do?
Unplug the big black power cable from the back of the computer. ...
Hold the 'on'/power button your computer.
Wait 5 seconds.
Press the power button to 'turn off' your computer.
Plug in the big black power cable from the back of the computer again.
"big black power cable" 😭
😂😂
Alright I’ll try that thank you.
So I press the on button while it’s not plugged in?
Wait do I press it twice?
hold the off button while its unplugged for 5 seconds
Well guys after a factory reset and only installing one RGB control software 1/4 of my ram sticks still doesn't light up, RMA time
i honestly have no clue why, it was my quick google fix
Do you know how I can find places that fixes computers?
wait until pato is on next, or someone else smarter
Look up “computer repair near me”
yeah ^
but you should wait until someone else replies first
do you know what power supply it is? @icy crater
im curious
Also, is it plugged directly into the wall?
eek
Rosewill what
Agh can I sue pg&e. 😤
There's some rosewills that are b tier muffin
Lemme check.
i didnt mean that
yeah
If you're lucky, it could just be the psu dead
i use a surge protector because im too spooked lol
amazon?
You buy one
I hope my computer’s files didn’t die. 😭
i bought one because my power goes out 24/7
Is it those surge strips?
it can be both
Hm will a power strip be alright to plug my pc into?
If it has a surge protector
well what would the point of one be then
?
My pc is plugged into a power strip
just own it to look at lol
same
Been like that for over a year and a half
has been for 4 years lol
I mean high power things.
Like microwave ovens and stuff.
well
thats a diff story
im sure they would still be fine
but like
completely diff from a pc xd
some microwaves take like 1200watts
xd
Ahh I see I’m not very familiar with these stuff haha and I’m like super paranoid of damaging stuff.
even something like that is fine
but you can get ones that are like 20 plugs
i wouldnt recommend plugging 20 things into it tho
Gotchaa I’ll get something like that then.
Should always have a PC plugged into a surge protector
especially if your area is highly prone to power outages
Nice
W
Idk what happened but when I messaged my friend to help me look at it.
He said
"send me a video of the problem"
And it turned back on. 😭 😭
Thank you guys I'm definitely going to get a surge protector.

Do anyone know if this one is surge protected?
I can't find anything about it.
just search on amazon "surge protector"
if it is a surge protector it will say in the name
get one that has a higher joule rating
thousands of joules at least
don't get a cheap low joule rating one
because one lightning strike or something might be more than enough to break through
I was recommended this build https://pcpartpicker.com/list/L2tVwc and was wondering if there were any graphics card alternatives with similar performance that was ~$100 cheaper (budget of 1.6k but need to spend the rest on monitor, peripherals and probably some case fans)
theres a few minor changes id make
one sec
PC Builder - Intel Core i5-12400F, Radeon RX 6700 XT, Phanteks Eclipse P360A ATX Mid Tower
also, if youre on a budget
go for the mx330-g air
for case
wait i just saw the psu
that makes no sense for this build
whats the perf comparison between the first and the second?
whats the total budget btw?
1.6k, prolly 1.2k for the pc
does that mobo have wifi?
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/cWKqhk bit under budget, if you want better change the gpu to 6750xt
PC Builder - Intel Core i5-12400F, Radeon RX 6700 XT, Phanteks Eclipse P360A ATX Mid Tower
ill grab a mobo with wifi in a moment
https://pcpartpicker.com/product/pzstt6/msi-mag-b660m-mortar-wifi-ddr4-micro-atx-lga1700-motherboard-mag-b660m-mortar-wifi-ddr4 or https://pcpartpicker.com/product/34kWGX/msi-pro-b660m-a-wifi-ddr4-micro-atx-lga1700-motherboard-pro-b660m-a-wifi-ddr4
you’ve case fan recommendations?
p12s
Thanks 😊
If you did want to pay $40ish... https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B0012YLTR6
@torn mesa just to clarify, do this one
with the wifi mobo you choose
can do either 3070 or 6750xt if youd like
hi hi I was wondering if anyone could help me pick parts for a pc to build?
whats the budget, what country do you live in, and whats the point of the pc
The US and for gaming. To run games like COD. Would like to keep the price around 1500$ but max 2000$
opinions on this? https://pcpartpicker.com/list/NPGJtn
PC Builder - Intel Core i7-12700F, GeForce RTX 3080 12GB LHR, Phanteks Eclipse G360A ATX Mid Tower
if you want cheaper https://pcpartpicker.com/list/t9v44s
PC Builder - Intel Core i5-12400F, GeForce RTX 3080 12GB LHR, Phanteks Eclipse G360A ATX Mid Tower
It looks good! I appreciate it 🙂
depends on the prices
if youre paying those prices for it, its awful
not particularly, you also dont need the extra fans since you case comes with 2 140mm and 1 120mm
it would just be a waste imo
you can do this for MUCH less
and 10x better
im looking for around 3k after taxes
hyper212 for 3700x
why are you going with the 3900xt?
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/NPGJtn this one
PC Builder - Intel Core i7-12700F, GeForce RTX 3080 12GB LHR, Phanteks Eclipse G360A ATX Mid Tower
they said 3k so the might wanna go more top tier, even though the one they just linked was worse
editing it rn
also is it just me or do other people like the look of the glacier one
like the phanteks aio
idk why i love the look of it
can you send a link to one around 2.5-3k?
they are doing it rn
it is really hard to spend that much on a pc for gaming
is it to much?
yeah, unless you go with a 12900ks etc
at that point, youre spending money on very small gains
^^
...
im not answering that
i want to try and get 500 fps
it can probably run like 8 instances of fortnite at once
ok thanks
that is unrealistic
500fps is also pointless
240hz is also pointless for most people
if you wanted a top of the line "gaming" pc https://pcpartpicker.com/list/pxQdxs
PC Builder - Intel Core i9-12900KF, GeForce RTX 3080 12GB LHR, Corsair 7000D AIRFLOW ATX Full Tower
but you wont notice a difference between that and the other list for gaming
i was gonna ask if the 420 fit but it is the 7000d not the 4000d
thats why i was gonna ask why xd
yeah 5000d fits 360
👀
motherboard has left the chat
oops lmao
xd
It'd be a pro z690-A from msi or something similar
PC Builder - Intel Core i9-12900KF, GeForce RTX 3080 12GB LHR, Corsair 7000D AIRFLOW ATX Full Tower
@molten ferry also dont buy a windows 11 key xd
Anyone have a good deal for the best Nvidia GPU $550 can buy?
3060ti, 3070, anything
3060 ti
though id go 6750xt for that budget
https://www.newegg.com/gigabyte-geforce-rtx-3070-gv-n3070gaming-oc-8gd/p/N82E16814932449? Would this be worth it
which one shall I get though
wdym
its worth the extra $50
What monitor are you pairing it with
4k 60hz (Graphic design, not gaming)
yeah honestly
God knows I wont be using this 3070 after I upgrade
where do I even resell, anyways?
Good site tips?
if youre not doing anything intense, just get a 3060
https://www.amazon.com/AOC-U2790VQ-3840x2160-Frameless-DisplayPort/dp/B07LBM2DCC/ref=sr_1_3?crid=DX7F3VTQ36YY&keywords=aoc+4k+monitor&qid=1656376213&s=electronics&sprefix=aoc+4k+monito%2Celectronics%2C321&sr=1-3 Best budget, Thoughts though?
AOC U2790VQ displays stunningly sharp images at 4K UHD resolution in a 27-inch size where every detail is clear. Its UHD resolution makes multitasking or working with large windows with ease. Its IPS panel ensures accurate color displayed while viewing from a wide range of angles while producing ...
Why so
msi?
if you dont need the perf, why bother
mid model, but fine on a 3060
This too
well to be fair there would be some 4k rdr2 on occasion
4k gaming is kinda a meme
4k rdr2 story mode on easy for the visuals
At 27 inches it's really hard to tell the difference between 4k and 1440p
hmmm
if going 4k, get a 31 or 32in monitor imo
G32q if it exists
m32q is nice, but thats a high refresh monitor
But that's not for graphic design
Yeah I don't know a good colour accurate one that isn't way over budget
neither is g32q
I would try rtings to get a gauge in this price range
seconded
Ima have a look myself
i'd say max 350
could also get a g27q
that'll be tough
Max 350 you can do m27q
m27q not worth atm
gotta be 4k
why?
Eh
brother's distinctly adamant about it
His money, so who am I to question it
even after being consulted about 4k game memery
he wants a 4k monitor
But thoughts on this, guys?
check rtings for monitor review
okay brief summary
ew 4k monitor for gaming?
seems good for games and work
ew
@jagged ember
I agree, but read what I said
agreed again
given this though, thoughts on the one I linkeed?
i'd just go with rtings lol
what things should I look out for?
google rtings
and search the monitor
and look at what they reviews on that monitor
by model number?
Most of the rtings reviews are biased towards games or otherwise they suggest oled's or qled's for 4k so I'm not getting any good picks yet
Ironically M32U and M28U are both appearing a lot here lol
and you're disagreeing that oleds or qleds are the superior panel tech?
Ofc not, they're way out of budget
what is the budget

wtf
4k still isn't viable for gaming, even a 3090 has trouble keeping more than 60-90ish fps in many games
no built in speakers
agreed
built in speakers stink
I'm going to reiterate I'm in the 1440p camp here but if the person who wants it insists on 4K with their money then it's not really our call
yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep
You forgot about 3090ti smh
They're good to have for troubleshooting
any good speaker recommendations, folks?
You're right, you can get a whole 5 more fps on that
Hell yea
S3221QS keeps coming up on rtings but it seems meh to me
pls dont shoot me
Dell
i have a wife and children

klipsch ones are pretty nice
I just suggest no tiny "computer speakers" anymore. Instead, this sort of set https://www.amazon.com/Klipsch-R-41M-Powerful-Detailed-Bookshelf/dp/B07FKH3VPV/
yum
z533 arent tiny >:(
yeah but they look good
studio/bookshelf speakers is really what you want
The audiophile weirdos in #peripherals-and-displays would know the answer to the speaker question
you can casually buy 1

they usually come with but are removeable i think
Weird but I'll allow it. Cover literally just mainly is protection from dust & fingers.

this looks pretty cute
bit strange tho
i didnt realise monitors could come with smart tv xd
That's a tv at this point
thats what im saying xd
epic 4k gaming on 90 inch QLED Samsung $7,000 TV
Yep. VA & 60hz, basically all that makes it not a normal smart tv.
(and speakers being even worse)
Lol
Experience the new HUAWEI MateView GT 27-inch curved monitor with 2K resolution, gaming-level 165-Hz refresh rate, and cinematic colour.
nice design
i didnt even realise some of these brands made monitors
oh yeah ur right
It's a 2k high refresh at 27" so it's already better
If trying to "be a tv", it better have more than 2 hdmi 1 DP, lol
i honestly cant find the ports @jagged ember
also no that is not an activate windows
thats fake
Maybe it doesn't have ports, maybe you just stare at the stock footage
well idk lol

wireless hdmi
magsafe pc
oh i know where the ports are
Guess what, it uses BT
🤣
tf is bt xd?
okay screw this I'm buying a macbook
Haha BT monitor
😭
inside it?
so its just a cover
mmhm
Actually potentially a decent idea for the person receiving it
Lol
magnetic
magneto
W/ his helmet*
this is the way
Hs student here been working got quite a bit of money what's a good budget for gaming/content creation nowadays?
$1500 gets you a very nice mid-high range PC build
Not particularly, that just moves you to the high end stuff
rgb*
Past around 2k you pay more for looks than performance, yes like rgb
rgb adds frames
Any have lists on hand? I have just a normal 1080p 165hz monitor
PC Builder - Intel Core i7-12700F, GeForce RTX 3080 12GB LHR, Phanteks Eclipse G360A ATX Mid Tower
forg made that
Ok koo I'll look at it now
if you wanted more aesthetic there is 300 dollars to play with in that
no 12th gen intel
Intel is better price/performance
^
Fs fs
I'd recc g27q for monitor
If you want 1440p
I mean, m27q is $100 more than g27q atm, so if they don't I'm not sure what to suggest
Monitors are not my thing
G27qc
Lol
You'd do a better job than me derping around rtings tho
I’m looking for someone that might be able to help me out with some pc tech support for a friend? if you are interested to help feel free to DM me i have a link for his detailed explanation on the problem on reddit.
DM me the link and I'll put it here, but I'm not able to help beyond that right now
Proxy is tough anyways. Should get that friend here.
are 1080ti's still good cards?
They're "good" in that they're currently cheaper than the 3060 which has replaced them in performance, but the official driver support for 10 series will likely be ending in the next year or two.
thank you

Can you overclock the i5-12400f?
No but yes
If i remember correctly
You can bclk oc with certain motherboards
But I believe all of those are z690s, and make no sense to run a 12400 on
few b660
Ah
Would the ASRock B660M be one of the boards that would alow it?
Yes and no
Technically no
But possible yes
Dude XD
No
Also it's a right pain to do it that way anyway

Thoughts
It's a computer, that's for sure.
Want a mobo with wifi?
And I'm guessing manual price means you've already bought?
No, thats the current price of the item in us
Okay but that's not relevant?
Do you need wifi?
Whats the option without wifi
Looking for a cpu equal to or better than 3600 for under 200
If anyone has recommendations lmk
200 USD that is
Amd not intel
3060ti really worth the extra money over a 3060 for light gaming
12400 is better choice unless you already own an am4 board
@stuck juniper do you have someone visiting the us soon or something? Because idk where you're getting a 3070 vision for 610€
My brother studies in us
But I'd do this

If you need wifi
Ahh
5600
6600xt or 6650xt
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/cWKqhk is there a better psu? I’ve an extra 50-100 usd
evga gt should do the job
EVGA Supernova 750 GT, 80 Plus Gold 750W, Fully Modular, Auto Eco Mode with FDB Fan, 7 Year Warranty, Includes Power ON Self Tester, Compact 150mm Size, Power Supply 220-GT-0750-Y1 https://a.co/d/a6R5AWg
This one?
No need, that psu is perfect for it
You can get a better one but not much need
If you did want a better one
Nice A tier single rail iirc
I need help
On the o11 air mini, with air cooling. Should I use side exhaust, intake, or none at all. I’m building atm. Can’t wait!!
General rule is front/side intake, rear/top exhaust
cheap to you might be $200 and 500 to someone else
I mean the cheaper the better
But 500 max
I need it for school and work
Mostly will be used for programming
I own a am4 board yes
I considered swapping but not 100% sure as the cost will go up another 100
For the board
what board?
B450
thats a chipset, not a board
But can handle 5000 series
ah
One sec
make sure you update bios before taking the current cpu out
Check this out on @Newegg: ASRock B450M/AC AM4 AMD Promontory B450 SATA 6Gb/s Micro ATX AMD Motherboard https://www.newegg.com/asrock-b450m-ac/p/N82E16813157880?Item=N82E16813157880&Source=socialshare&cm_mmc=snc-social-_-sr-_-13-157-880-_-06282022
Ofcourse
ive got the b550 version of that
Says it is out of stock for me
bios versions change
I bought it like two years ago
youll need to update it again
if you havent updated in 2 years, it needs an update to run a 5600
Yep still latest
then it wont support 5000 series
Well, I updated it like once aside from 2 years ago
Was like half a year to a year ago
Supports AMD AM4 Socket Ryzen™ 2000, 3000, 4000 G-Series, 5000 and 5000 G-Series Desktop Processors; Supports DDR4 3200+ (OC); 1 PCIe 3.0 x16, 1 PCIe 2.0 x16; AMD Quad CrossFireX™; Graphics Output: HDMI; 7.1 CH HD Audio (Realtek ALC892 Audio Codec), ELNA Audio Caps; 4 SATA3, 1 Ultra M.2 (PCIe Gen3 x4)*; 6 x USB 3.1 Gen1 (2 Front, 4 Rear); Realte...
My memory bank is a mess so let me double check when I bought it
your mobo cant ru a 5600
since it released after the latest bios update
itd run a 5600x though
The 5600 is before the x tho?
They dont add letters after?
5600x has been out since i believe 2019
You're sure that's the right motherboard?
id look for a used 5600x imo
@potent portal
Oh my bad
I only bought it a year ago
The one processor of note I see is not supported is the 5800X3D
So I probably did update in the past 6 months
based on release date of the bios, it cant support a 5600 or 5700x though
unless for whatever reason that had pre access to whatever support is needed for the bios version
The agesa code is released before the processors
Yeah, how else would they validate support lol
The 5600x is better than 5600 isnt it?
Slightly but not worth it for gamers
Ok
Like 3%
I just use for gaming and watching anime
Nothing noticeable
So not a major thing
Nah, not worth the extra $
Yea
When I ask r/buildapc recently they're practically trying to tell me to buy a new board and a intel cpu that my nephew coincidentally has and my 3500x ran better than it
Was a 4core recommendation
Ideally you'd have a more updated agesa code with some of the fixes and stability improvements they've done but it is what it is
Yeah
I mean if its enough to break it they'd update it soon
what should i upgrade on my pc next any suggestions my budget is $500 or less current specs
we would have to know what your currentl build is
Btw is that somewhere on the site I sent?
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/ just plug your specs into this and we can then suggest upgrades
PC Builder
Also whats the dif between r5 3600 and the matisse version?
?
I see a matisse version running around unless its just talking thats the generic
Says matisse after 3600
thats just the generation that 3000 series was, no?
also yeah that was just it's code name
I see it in listings sometimes
Yes, click where it says "CPU support list"
Ah ok
And yeah I think thats the 3000 series model type aside from g series
Looking at the list
Hey, I’m looking for an upgrade to my pc fans. I’m looking to lower the temperature a bit and will have to buy better fans to get that. I don’t have a price range but I want it to be fans and not water cooling. DM me or tag me with suggestions please.
whats your case?
Dang my board supports almost every cpu
Or atleast that I know of
Yep. Newer versions won't support certain older CPUs but the 400 series is good about that. My MSI X470 has full support for every AM4 chip.
There's a beta bios version 2.90 for your board I missed, scroll down on the bios release page
That includes agesa 1.2.0.6b which is quite recent
Instead of 1.2.0.2 which is from a year ago
rip, I dont have a cpu until put new in
Also what I meant by matisse label
Matisse is just the codename for the 3000 series architecture
Oh I might have 2.90 installed, not 100% sure though, cause I was thinking their was a 2.80 or something like that I installed but top said latest was 2.70 so I might but not 100% sure installed 2.90
2.90 is from 3 months ago
Ayyyy, I can save up for whatever I want
There probably was a 2.80 between
Prob
What board would you rec I upgrade to if I upgraded boards? Without having to update
Cause getting new cpu cause have to
Old one broke pins
It's hard to avoid updating bios even on the latest boards. The best you could do is get one with flashback. Different brands call it different things but it allows you to update bios without a CPU even installed.
Odds are good if you have 2.80 it'll work with a 5600 though
I have a Phanteks Eclipse P300A case
i5 10th gen, Deep Cool GammaXX400V2 heatsink but I have a different fan on it, the stock one crapped out
what temps are you getting?
and are the gpu temps fine?
Right below 40 for most of the components, but the GPU goes up to 75 and I mainly want to lower that one
And the sound bc it gets kind of loud
that is hard to fix with more fans
you could change thermal paste and pads, could possibly change fans depending on the type of noise, could set a different fan curve, could undervolt
I also have 2 other fans that sit in the AIO spot, their just some cheap RGB ones
The front of the case
nvm
lol
I don't want to undervolt, and like I said its mainly the GPU I want to lower. The CPU is only slightly above what I am aiming for but I also know its hard to keep a PC cool on just fans.
Do you have any recommendations for good fans?
hmm
Okay, well thanks for the suggestions, I will look into changing the thermal paste/pads
undervolting is way easier than doing that
I have a rtx 2080 and it won’t fit in my case
Then you need a new case or a new GPU, or maybe a Dremel
Agreed especially when I have what I call update syndrome where I have to have the latest versions of stuff
Gaming or what?
are you in the us?
gaming
im also ok if you go over the budget as long as i get better performance
no
ima make u one rq
Which region then so we can pick local deals
hk
So under 8000 HKD?
its 350 above but itll deliver https://pcpartpicker.com/list/xCjNv3
PC Builder - Intel Core i5-12600KF, GeForce RTX 3060, Corsair 4000D Airflow ATX Mid Tower
u can check this one out aswell but itll perform much worse
PC Builder - Intel Core i3-12100F, GeForce GTX 1660 SUPER, Corsair 4000D Airflow ATX Mid Tower
RAM price go down? Thats pretty cheap for a 4400
vipers are just affordable and good
Oh
its b die aswell
B die?
yea
Meaning?
Oh
Best overclocking memory yeah
I have a 3600 16gb
Its clocking though could use work
I forget, was it higher or lower CL that is better?
So my 16GB C18 is bad?
3600 c18 is average
How big of a difference would a c16 3200 make?
That's going the wrong way
Said lower is better for C tho
Hang on there's a latency chart I need to find
Should pin it
wait
basically
in terms of latency
200 mhz = 1 cl
so
3600 mhz cl 18 is same as 3200 mhz cl 16
Oh ok
There’s a loose formula you can use but the nanosecond difference out about the same
just giving a starting point ig
Im just wondering if it make a big difference in performance
It won’t
Oc to what exactly?
18-21-22-22-42 is what i have
If you're on AMD then frequency matters first up to about 3600-3800, then cas after that
I have the c18 3600
what ramn
Im on amd yes
Corsair
Reason: Bad word usage
My exact RAM
u prob have bad binned b die or c die
But when I bought was 105$
Ok so if you're on 5000 series then 3600 c16 is kinda the sweet spot for performance/price ratio but not really worth upgrading to from your current
3600 c14 is expensive but would be excellent
C18
I have c18
You could go for a higher clock speed kit like that and overclock it yes but if you're not comfortable doing that then 3600 c14 kit is ideal
yea
thats about 2k usd?
Ive never overclocked before so I'd need a guide on it
You should pin that fal
