I've been saving for 2 years
could do this and build right now https://pcpartpicker.com/list/LfLCd9
PC Builder - Intel Core i3-12100F, Cougar MX330-G ATX Mid Tower
12100f enough for 3070 at 1080p
Your right I could but it is better to wait for good stuff instead of buy stuff now and not be that great
I don't like that stuff though tbh
š
I just need 200 dollars it's takin me 2 years to earn 350 dollars why b not just wait another 2
I looking for big white case to vertical mount my beautiful white strix 3090
then no point in buying the 12400
always the option of buying used
I don't trust used
then either get that list ^ or wait another 2 years
I'll wait I can just keep doing every little thing I can even though I only make like 5 a week
is 4000d big enough for vertical mounting 3090
Lian li evo
why would you buy a 3090 only to deprive it of air by vertical mounting it
what type of psycho
lemme just vertical mount my gpu
aesthetics
and cause it to suffocate a little
would a 5000D work?
MODEL: O11DEW COLOR: White MATERIAL: 4mm Aluminum 4mm Tempered Glass 1mm Steel Structure MOTHERBOARD SUPPORT: E-ATX (width: under 280mm)/ATX /M-ATX/ITX PSU SUPPORT:220mm -FAN SUPPORT: Top: 120mm Ć 3 or 140mm Ć 2 Side: 120mm Ć 3 or 140mm Ć 2 Bottom: 120mm Ć 3 or 140mm Ć 2 Rear: 120mm Ć 1 On Drive ...
that thing is huge
The vertical mount that you can buy for the evo isnāt bad while I do t have a 3090 temps stayed the same on a 3080
lina li is looks alright actually
is it white ? doesn't looks like to me lol
You can also get the upright kit for it
what
more like zotac white lol
Not sure how that would affect your temps tho
it doesn't looks like white to me idk why lol
did I mess with my monitor settings
I mean it's white but not like that
btw which pcie4 extender is good
The Phanteks Flat Line PCI-e Gen4 x16 Riser Cable unlocks the full potential of any high-end Gen4 graphics card. The dual layer design improves the performance and stability of the high bandwidth signals ensuring the system is running stable and reliable. Each individual laneway is shielded from ...
Looks good to me
Does the vertical mount youāre purchasing not come with one I thought most do
Plated through holes and all to avoid shorting issues some have had
If they do they often come with 3.0 risers, which can be a pain to set up
idk
Ahhh makes sense
Yeah because if you don't have an igpu you need to install the gpu normally, set the slot to 3.0 mode, then install the vertical mount and riser
hello all
eww pcie3
got my motherboard todayhttps://www.newegg.com/asrock-rack-romed8-2t/p/N82E16813140044?Item=N82E16813140044
will be paired with this https://www.newegg.com/amd-epyc-7252-socket-sp3/p/N82E16819113597?Item=9SIAFVFHK25471
128 pcie 4.0 lanes of goodness
i think ill get either the ram or NVME next
are those sound proof stuff on the back?
Trying to put something together for a customer who is only playing Fortnite and Roblox. The gpu and cpu are purchased
PC Builder - AMD Ryzen 9 3900XT, GeForce GTX 1660 SUPER
esp for a zotac too
also i wouldnt put a cv anywhere near half decent parts
most id put a cv with is like a igpu build
The gpu and cpu I got for free
i wish i got a 3900xt for free lol
He wants red and black which is why I chose certain items
That psu is just on a good sale that why I picked it
that psu is crap
not a good psu though
the cv is junk
Oh ok
cxf may be cheaper rn
the cxf lineup is going away so they selling them for really nice prices
hmm
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/n9CmC6 can change the psu to the 650 or 700w version as well
PC Builder - AMD Ryzen 9 3900XT, GeForce GTX 1660 SUPER, Cooler Master MasterBox MB311L ARGB MicroATX Mid Tower
but the 500 enough for 3900x and 1660s
may as well drop the hdd too
Sorry the cooler is purchased as well. $50
if its just fortnite and roblox
ah
oh right mobo
forgot that lmao
ive no clue on decent enough b550s
i doubt the usual ds3h for a 5600/x would be a good idea
the msi mag bazooka is good, right?
matx though
antec neo eco is A tier
is this a decent b550
lemme see if i can find a vrms list
i dont know enough about b550s, i didnt make many lists for cpus more demanding than 5600x before 12th gen dropped
izz explosive
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/PrMnpH unsure on mobo atm, but here
PC Builder - AMD Ryzen 9 3900XT, GeForce GTX 1660 SUPER, Cooler Master MasterBox MB311L ARGB MicroATX Mid Tower
i cannot read that
tested on a 3900x too, v close to 3900xt
wait
does that list say the pro vdh is better than bazooka?
or am i misreading
its hard to see, pixelated when i click on it
oh no
lower is better
ok lol
do you mean cxf?
cx
it doesnt show in pcp
here then https://pcpartpicker.com/list/PrMnpH
PC Builder - AMD Ryzen 9 3900XT, GeForce GTX 1660 SUPER, Cooler Master MasterBox MB311L ARGB MicroATX Mid Tower
F
ye
Ok question what if I keep the gpu and cpu and build the a pc new. Could I do it for $1000
meaning make an all new build?
Yes. Is it possible for $1000. With cable extensions
what you can do with 1k https://pcpartpicker.com/list/6K7Yd9
PC Builder - Intel Core i5-12400F, Radeon RX 6600 XT, Cooler Master MasterBox MB311L ARGB MicroATX Mid Tower
ye, except for evga and the now super rare bb drop its like $50 cheaper or so
now i finally cant remind you to custom add a 12400 cause same price
12400 back to 190
I appreciate all the help.
12400f still 160
Is there a way to do it without the rebate?
whats the rebate on?
Gpu
Also will the cooler I have fit in there
its the cheapest 6600xt even before the rebate
what aio is it?
its a 240 or 280?
360
PC Builder - Intel Core i5-12400F, Radeon RX 6600, Corsair 4000D Airflow ATX Mid Tower
Check this out on @Newegg: ID-COOLING AURAFLOW X 360 CPU Water Cooler RGB AIO Cooler 360mm CPU Liquid Cooler 3x120mm RGB Fan, Intel 115X/2066, AMD TR4/AM4 https://www.newegg.com/id-cooling-liquid-cooling-system/p/2YM-0024-00005?Item=9SIAN1KB906232&Source=socialshare&cm_mmc=snc-social-_-sr-_-9SIAN1KB906232-_-05132022
unless rommy or ryan know a better case thatll fit a 360
tho could keep the aio for another build and get a $30 heatsink
Bios issue?
just pcp being stupid
A 360 is overkill for the 3900xt and 1660 no?
They already bought it lol I don't feel like buying it off them as I don't need it
ahh
I'll do the build you have. With the cable extensions and cooler it's still under 1000
yeah, but if they have the 360 why not
What about a 27in 1080p monitor close to $120?
wouldnt recc 1080p at 27in
id look for 24in 1080p 144hz
IPS pannel preferable i believe (please dont quote me on this, i know f all about monitors)
prolly buying used
Link?
Is that worth it?
Refurbished kinda makes me nervous as my name is going to be on it.

thats refurb?
im currently using an aoc monitor
havent had issues, but wouldny pay that much for a refurb of that
it was like $140 new when i bought it
like a year and a half ago
hey rommy
tn vs va?
VA
It's just better in almost every way
https://pcpartpicker.com/product/vdvbt6/acer-ed242qr-abidpx-236-1920x1080-144hz-monitor-ed242qr-abidpx also an option, i cannot speak for quality
on either of them
oh wait i linked the same monitor you did lmao
Maybe the table tool
and the other one the link isnt even the right price
seems like the aoc one will be decent enough
It's mine now I need a good AIO
liquid freezer ii
https://pcpartpicker.com/product/HZvdnQ/arctic-liquid-freezer-ii-280-a-rgb-689-cfm-liquid-cpu-cooler-acfre00106a https://pcpartpicker.com/product/83vdnQ/arctic-liquid-freezer-ii-420-a-rgb-689-cfm-liquid-cpu-cooler-acfre00109a https://pcpartpicker.com/product/d2fmP6/evga-clc-280-1135-cfm-liquid-cpu-cooler-400-hy-cl28-v1
any of those imo
clc is louder but obviously much cheaper
If you go CLC swap the fans for Arctic P12/P14
https://pcpartpicker.com/product/DN92FT/lian-li-galahad-aio-360-rgb-uni-fan-sl120-edition-5854-cfm-liquid-cpu-cooler-ga-360sla also good, more pricey than the 420mm though
ARCTIC Liquid Freezer II 240 seems to be the best bargain in town
ehh
oooo 420
the 280 is $7 more
PC Builder - Intel Core i5-12400F, Radeon RX 6600, Corsair 4000D Airflow ATX Mid Tower
Can somebody help me bruh this hp pc is weird donāt know how to add diff power supply
HP uses proprietary parts that don't work with any other standard parts typically.
Sometimes there's adapters for the main power and such but you'll still need to figure out how to mount it.
Iām in pain
Bought this pc in hope to just put the gpu in and psu
nope psu weird as freak
M01-F1033W
Yep that's HPs "kinda sorta 12VO" power supply. No adapters exist because the motherboard wouldn't know how to tell the PSU to turn on.
Now, one option you do have is to use the new power supply only for the GPU. You can jump the power on pins and use the on/off switch on the back to, well, turn it on and off.
That's obviously less than ideal and very janky but it'll get you running
I think L05757-800 is the highest power unit available for that PC, https://www.sparepartworld.com/laptop-spare-parts/internal-power-supplies/internal-power-supplies-l05757-800-46423360
HP Desktop-PC power supply L05757-800 ⢠new ā original ā accurate suitable ā immediately available ā
Eco zen is c tier btw
Is there any reason Iām getting DisplayPort no signal after it worked for the pass 30 min?
I rebooted so many times and unplugged everything but just canāt seem to get to the bios page again
Whatās a good software for checking temps on ram and cpu and gpu
Thank you, is it cpu tdie or tctl
Iām not sure exactly what the correct cpu temps are
Both matter, it's 2 different spots on the cpu.
Go by whichever happens to be higher.
Ok ok thank you
I guess blowing on it made it work
Nice, glad you got it figured out
Should I do upgrade or custom installation? Idk if thereās a preferable one
Custom since you don't have an OS to upgrade
Then you can just select the unallocated space and tell it to install
It'll build all the partitions it needs
Thanks
Would a 650w power supply support a 5900x and 3070?
It would be pushing it but it's possible at stock
For gaming? 3D
5900x is cheaper rn
Is there a big performance difference for them? I 3d model and game
Itās not significant but there is a difference the 5900x is better for productivity
But still a solid option for gaming
Yeah if you're using it for modeling and use the CPU to render it's better to have more cores.
Ok I'll get that then
Quick question
Might as well get an 800w supply as well
I'd recommend this https://pcpartpicker.com/product/WxZzK8/msi-mpg-a-gf-850-w-80-gold-certified-fully-modular-atx-power-supply-mpg-a850gf
It doesn't have the driver for your wifi, just skip for now and install it later
Done! Everything will be here by Monday I'm hyped
Sweet! Let us know how it goes for you
@potent portal sorry if itās a dumb question but how do I install the driver?
leadex 3 gold $10 cheaper and comes with a $10 gc š
Yeah but he wanted amazon
ah ok thats good then
Download on another computer or your phone and copy it by USB, do you need the link to it?
Yes please
What motherboard model?
Uh let me find the name
MSI MPG Z690 EDGE WIFI DDR4 LGA 1700 ATX Intel Motherboard
not on pcpp at least
If you have a non-F CPU, graphics https://download.msi.com/dvr_exe/mb/intel_vga_adl.zip
No internet access
So download all 3 links onto usb?
ah
Also I have a K that means I should download the 4th too right
Yes and yes
Ok thanks
I also gave the Windows 11 links on the assumption you were installing that
Which is recommended with the K processors
Well 12600 non k has no e cores so I'd windows 10 on that but 12600 non k is pretty pointless unless same price or like 10$ more than 12400
Yeah that one is just a higher clocked 12400
$25 for factory OC
Better igp
Thats basically it
And a tiny bit more clock speed
get rekt! This has been going on forever. E8400 3ghz E8500 3.16ghz E8600 3.33ghz
Does anyone know if i can update my bios using a usb formatted as exFAT instead of FAT32? Windows 10 doesnt give the option for fat32 anymore apparently
For fat 32 you need to format the usb to 32gb or less
And you need fat32
thanks
Hey so I've been told that clocks don't matter when buying a cpu, but then people talk about their clocks why?
Say three people have the same cpu, I'll use 12600k as an example
One boosts up to 4.7, one to 4.8, and one to 5.1 (no clue if these are accurate possibilities, just using random numbers)
The one that boosts to 5.1 will most likely be better
But a 10600k that boosts to 5.5 will still be much worse than a 12600k at 4.8
But why? I don't understand why you need better clocks?
Clocks matter, but not between different cpus
You can't compare a worse cpu with a higher clock speed to a better cpu with a lower clock speed and except the worse cpu to be better
Since performance is more than just clock speed
Pato will explain better than I can
Instructions per clock(ipc) improve per gen
Maybe this will be a better example
What does (do?) IPCs change
clocks are meaningless when comparing 2 different cpus because of other changes that make a MUCH MUCH bigger impact on perf, but clock speed is a great way to compare many of the same cpu
My 3600 boosts to 4.5 ghz. Your 5600x might only boost to 4.2
But your 5600x is still a good bit better, since there's more than just clock speeds that make up overall performance
But my 3600 4.5ghz will most likely be better than a 3600 at 4.2 ghz
They're improvements in architecture
Ipc is how many tasks your cpu can do per clock cycle
So if you have an ipc of 1 you can to 1 task per 1hz
Ok so then the reason people don't shop by clock is because of different architectures
Right?
Yes
Then why present clock speed at all?
It's pretty important info to know for one if your cpu is acting normal, for 2 as rawr said you can use it to compare single core performance of cpus within the same gen
So it's for benchmarking? And system checks?
No not benchmarking, it's like if you're shopping you can compare them
if you're comparing two cpus from the same architecture that's when clock speed is a relevant metric
look at i7-12700 vs i7-12700K and you'll instantly get a pretty good understanding of the (stock) performance difference
Anyone have recommendations for around $600 -$700 pc for 1080p gaming like valorant/fortnite (performance mode) 144fps and 1080p apex all low settings 60fps
PC Builder - Intel Core i3-12100F, Radeon RX 6600, Cougar MX330-G ATX Mid Tower
@uneven gulch
though amd cards have some issues with fortnite sometimes
so maybe used 1660s or smthn along those lines would be a better idea
PC Builder - Intel Core i3-12100F, Radeon RX 6600, Cougar MX330 ATX Mid Tower
Is the i3 12100 any good?
For low gpus yes
depends
12100 can handle 3060 and 3060ti I think

1070ti
12100f good enough for 3070 ti at 1080p
3080 at 1440p, though if youre spending that much on a gpu please get a better cpu
Will it be good for a 1070ti
So 12400f is more than enough
p12s
How much?

p360a
Yeah
PC Builder - Intel Core i3-12100F, Phanteks Eclipse P360A ATX Mid Tower
Is that psu completely necessary
i aws wrong about the psu
one sec
B
Ok
That's alright
PC Builder - Intel Core i3-12100F, Phanteks Eclipse P360A ATX Mid Tower
I can buy everything but te motherboard
Putting 1200 with a 3060 ti would be a rude to the 3060 ti, that's basically putting it with a 2080 super
Why?
Ok
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/PQFTMb any other changes to this
PC Builder - Intel Core i3-12100F, Phanteks Eclipse P360A ATX Mid Tower
Yes white case I have the gpu and my budget was 600 but I like this price
But is there stuff that is more expensive than it ahould
Thatās gunna be tight depending on what gpu you have
1070tj
for your budget i wouldnt buy an $80 case, but if you want white it might be one of the best priced ones that isnt terrible
Ti
P360a from what I have seen is a good case
No but if you can spend a small bit more you're gonna be a lot better off future proof and quality of life wise
What should I change
@fossil cedar I can always upgrade to
I'd do this
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/Vj3C8r
PC Builder - Intel Core i5-12400F, Phanteks Eclipse P360A ATX Mid Tower
That board you had doesn't give you any upgrade path
How?
And you're usually better off for example getting a bit better board and cpu now and you won't have to upgrade
Because it's super low end
H610
Might be able to handle a 13th gen i3 but that's about it
theyre a minor who cant get a job, they wont be upgrading for a while
Yes
Well then upgrading is almost building a new pc tbh
Only things you can keep are power supply and case and ssd as you'll need to get ddr5 ram for any upgrade after this etc
And probably the cooler if they release a bracket for it
The build I have can run 1080p gaming with a 1070ti right?
Because when I get old enough and get a job I'll just upgrade
12400F can handle even 3070ti no worries about 1070ti
12100F also can handle 1070ti easily
I know this build isn't meant for like 5 years long term
12400f can handle a 3090 ti lol
Just until I get a job
Tbh I wouldn't get 12400F with 3090ti lmao
i wouldnt get a 3090 ti period
Then I'll most likely sell that pc and build a new one
Currently using 12900k with white strix 3090
If I can game on that build I'll be happy
12400 is decent cpu that will last for few years without any issue
What about 12100f
Umm it's better than old gen i7 cpus so I guess it will hold for long too
It's supposedly good for gaming
theyre a minor who cant get a job
and is paying for the pc themself
12100 is gonna show it's age a lot faster, 12400 will buy you an extra few years imo

i agree with you, but they cant get the money for it at the moment
They said they had a budget of 600
they have 400 or so atm
Ah
@vapid jolt here you go then
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/YWMpKp
PC Builder - Intel Core i3-12100F, Cougar MX330 ATX Mid Tower
I only need 85 to get the other list
I forgot I have a 10 dollar amazon gift card
So that won't take to long
No where long as 300 would
Yeah but that list you can almost buy rn
Granted by the time you get the money, list would need to be retooled a bit
Why?
Market changes constantly
One day a deal is there, next day it's gone
Any list we make now is most likely going to become worse value in a week
is the 97% health something to worry about?
this is a brand new boot drive, well it was 1.5 years ago when I built this rig.
should I be worried? my brothers have boot SSDs that have more hours and more power on count but are still 100%
it should probably be noted that the 2 ssds my brothers have are different brand
This feels wrong lol
this is the same brand SSD just 2tb for games and stuff and it doesnt have any issue.
I wouldn't worry at all
smaller drives naturally go through more write cycles than larger ones, especially if the small one is a boot drive
and using what you've given, it would take about 22 years for the 250gb drive to reach 0% health
i think you'll have moved on to another drive within that timeframe
More than likely lol, thank you for the response!
On that smaller drive is that thermal throttle a problem? The one at the bottom?
Iām sorry I havenāt learnt how to read crystal disk yet.
you've never reached thermal throttle it looks like
Ah ok, even though the worst says 100?
yeah, judging by how other values say worst is 100
even though it doesn't make sense
if you really wanted to test it, just get a storage benchmark app and run it for a while
and observe temps
but usually it's never an issue unless the drive is hot garbage lol
Alright.
How many tbs read data can ssds typically use? It looks like games use a lot of read data
Whatās the abbreviation for that again? Tbr maybe?
read/write endurance or something
oh interesting
I didnāt find anything on my 2tb but it says the 1 tb version gets around 400tbw
I would assume the 2tb would have 600-800tbw even at 400tbw I donāt think I can possibley hit that limit
maybe after like 2 decades
Iāll hopefully have an m.2 by then xD
The reason I didnāt go with an m.2 here is because back then I genuinely thought they were the same speed as a 2.5inch ssd. Turns out far from it.
The pcie version anyway. I donāt know much about the m.2 2280 or whatever it is
non-sata nvme very good
Is that what the pcie one is?
Or is that the 22089 slot
2280, fat fingers on a phone lol
2280 is really just the size of the drive
pcie ones just convert pcie to m.2
M.2 is the name of the connector, which can be either nvme or sata
but obviously m.2 and nvme are kinda used interchangeably for a lotta people lol
Nvme is different from original pcie actually. There's very few pcie ssds but they using different protocol
I can buy all parts but the motherboard should I order the other parts
Sounds about right for a 250gb drive tbh
85 dollars away
tbh id probably prefer an FE card over other models
lol
Why
is this good deal
aesthetics mainly lol
just wondering
I dont really care about overclocking in my personal system either
Fe ugly ngl
:(
NO
Not horrible, not the best I've seen
I actually really like how it looks, a lot more than pretty much any other one
plus it matches the look of my evga clc
well amazon wise
Its just "whatever"
Like, it's not a bad price if you need one, but Newegg has def had some cheaper ones by quite a bit
well ik this but i cant get money off amazon
Ye I heard
well we have 3070 for $629 i was trying to see if we could get a upgrade for cheap but seems 3080 is $999
we got 3070 Ti for $699
I was trying to replace my cooler but realized new coolers backplate not sitting well
which is so dumb i used to be able to have a choice but ig bc its such a large order idk
Also lga1700 socket lock is so scary lol
lol
It needs too much pressure to lock it lol
it's harder than older gens
Well I'm not sure about this backplate
whats the issue
it's not fitting well I guess
oh
Looks pretty clean imo
okay
so youre telling me
with that ugly ass 12 pin adapter into a normal pcie 8/6+2 cable, it looks good?
Fe is ugliest card ever

On 3060 ti/3070 it's just 1 8 pin
Installing noctua fan to b660m mobo is nightmare
ugly af tbh
Actually it doesn't fit
The 1 8 pin looks fine imo
maybe
Also up until a few days ago they were the only cards that did FHR but that's useless now
ye
nicehash cracked it
it was only a matter of time tbh, im surprised LHR lasted that long
Nb miner cracked it too
Can I buy the parts I have the money for
Don't do that
Why though
chance of dead components and you wouldnt know
xD
I just need 85 dollars for the motherboard then I can get it
Alright Noctua fan is useless for b660m mobo
noctua fan is useless in any situation tbh
T30 gang gang
My friend got noctua for his build and I really can't set it up
Backplate not fully sitting in
Have you double check the manual
all 4 legs can't sit
Yeah there's only small spacers for it which is looks like not tall enough
Another issue is in front
This cap tho
Don't need to take stock backplate off or anything?
No any extra backplate there
I don't think that metal part is removable
Maybe I'm wrong
I never tried to remove it
@potent portal just an FYI the ram you sent me a while back out of stock it was on back order but newegg never got the shipment
I don't think that metal plate is removable
It's usually attached with adhesive, it'll come off with a little effort
Wait is it removable
lol
Are you sure lol it's my friend's build and I don't want to ruin it lol
Just try not to gouge the board when you go to peel it off
Here's some tips https://www.reddit.com/r/homelab/comments/5ewyeo/best_way_to_remove_stuck_on_cpu_cooler_backplate/
15 votes and 7 comments so far on Reddit
Those are just torx screws though right
Holds the plate to the standoffs
Sure if you wanted. If it's a good price right now no reason not to for that part.
Should I suggest him to replace cooler
It's 10 dollars off right now
A lot of coolers use the standard Intel standoffs to attach to
I will try to tighten screws little harder to see if plate can bend
I think it worked lol tightened screws harder and all legs looks like sitting on mobo now
Only problem is this cap now
Alright it actually not hitting but there's only like 1mm space between them
Guitar pick barely fitting between that matal bar and capacitor
Aio gang
you can absolutely get a defective case
ever had to dismantle a completed build after realizing the case has dead usb ports/audio/power button?
i have
the chance is not high, but it's also not 0
your call whether you want to take the gamble
Those are stock psu cables, I have the extensions coming in soon and I have 9 fans also coming soon Iām gunna run the rad in a push pull
okay, good
Thatās actually why right now I have the side glass taken off because it was getting spicy
well yeah, the only air your gpu is getting is recycled warm air from the cpu aio
lmao
with side panel off at least the gpu fans can pull air directly from outside
lmao my pc rn
K ty
Ty
hey
so I just finished building my sister a computer
the gpu turns on for a second, fans start up and there is a white led near the pcie that turns on and then after a few seconds it turns off, the fans stop spinning and the mobo spits out a vga error code
Did you plug the GPU power in? Happens all the time
yeah it's in, I tried replugging it in and still the same issue
Try another PCIe slot
I don't think it'll fit in another PCIe slot
I'm gonna throw the gpu in my PC just to see if that's the issue
Good idea
Ok so it's not the GPU
yep
What GPU and what motherboard?
I can't take the gpu out rn because windows decided to update š
And are you using a riser cable?
D4?
Try updating the bios using flashback https://dlcdnets.asus.com/pub/ASUS/mb/BIOS/ROG-STRIX-B660-A-GAMING-WIFI-D4-ASUS-1402.zip
š
was gonna say, fans stopping is expected behavior, if the boot fails but pc doesn't lose power usually the gpu fans will keep spinning
no like
vga error + fan stop can mean bad monitor cable
I replugged in that cable multiple times
I swapped the pcie cable
with another one since the psu is modular
yeah, faulty power cable would also cause it, although that's rare
At least you got it figured out
^
Just bought RAM, fans and GPU letsgooo
@earnest olive do u remember how u helped me setup my fans
how do i set them up on the cpu
on the ak620 to help the airflow
is it 1 or 2 fans
2
since you have rear intake as your main CPU air supply
configure them so they're intaking that way
dang i dont think this gon fit
You can flip the fans instead of the whole cooler
putting cooler on
It depends, did the cooler come with slightly longer screws to account for mounting with the bracket between?
Came w really long for fan to rad and really short
Smol screw too short to mount to bracket
Need a bit longer so should bracket go in middle?
You can try to put the bracket in the middle but don't put too much torque when screwing it down, or it'll bend the radiator
Oki
Does fan airflow usually go towards the logo or
So if logo on the front air goes front to back or
And screws too short to mount in between
@potent portal
The air will flow from the open side of the fan to the side with the frame
So how fit rad and fans?
The frame side of the fan will go up if it's top mounted
If it's front mounted frame side towards the radiator
Building a new pc, havent touched pc building in a couple years, usually a intel guy, but not being picky rn, not familiar with amd sockets for mother board, so a amd 5000 series can fit into a X570? or it depends on the 5900X/5700X etc?
With the correct bios versions, almost any Ryzen CPU will work on almost any AM4 board
Unless the board came out years after the CPU did, then they may have dropped support
But if you're looking at 5000 series you'd want to look at B550 boards probably. They have all the features 95% of people will want.
Question again
How clean thermal paste, how much apply (I have a 3g tube) and any specific pattern
If I remember right about thermal paste, you don't need alot, you can kinda make a thin singular layer of it on top of the CPU
on a 5800x?
I usually do an X pattern
x would be reccomended yeah for 5800x
just make sure its enough to cover the whole top of cpu (ihs)
you can pre spread it even if you want
Nvm cooler came w it on it
WTF
Neither set of standoffs fit what do
@desert gulch
what cooler is it?
Kraken x63
The right standoffs still isn't contacting the cpu
The one that thread into the mobo
is the original stock am4 bracket on the board?
It's a hp omen mobo
The top standoff has wrong thread and bottom is too long
@wheat coral you think itll have them?
normal am4 holes
oh god
yeah
So which standoff cause longer ones don't make contact w cpu
no idea, ive never retrofitted an oem board with a kracken
you answered your own question
longer ones dont work so obviously smaller
Smaller the threads are too big for the mobo and knobs for the cpu
are cpu fans intake
the stock fans
return the cooler and yell at hp
But
I got this case to fit this cooler and can't afford new movo
Mobo
Old cooler don't fit
wut
In case cause too short of tubes
Old cooler tubes are too short and on this cooler no standoff fit
if you did get a new board itd probs need new psu too
Cannot afford
yea
Can I just not use standoffs
Did you use the backplate that came with the cooler
its a omen board with a 5800x and looks to be 1200/1700 mounting holes according to floppa
so its not very standard
Measure the distance between the holes in mm
I have no way to do that
Not even with your phone? There's apps for quick estimated measurements
Between holes of what
Mobo and aio when its on the cpu or between posts on the mobo?
On the motherboard, the holes the backplate is supposed to go through
Backplate of the aio?
Yes, where the backplate goes
Okay
I'm getting food give me like 10 mins and I'm gonna see if this place has standoffs
It's weird, it uses Intel size plate and screws but is amd
But also has standoffs sticking off
Of the mobo, like tall boys
Does the Intel backplate that came with the cooler fit the motherboard?
Yis
But the standoffs are just a little too tall, maybe 1 or 2 mm
I mighty try just taking the standoffs off the old aio and seeing if they'll work
Reason: Bad word usage
It'll be bish but it worth
Does the cooler that originally came with the computer have what looks like a metal circle sticking off the rest of it?
On the bottom where it attaches to the cpu
No, it's all 1 piece I believe
Like this
Hp omen 140 aio
2.4/10
Yep they have Dell Cooler Puck 2.0, now in square form
If the old standoffs don't fit, you'd need a new motherboard
And probably power supply if HP made that proprietary too
Shouldn't be it's a coolermaster
coolermaster doesnt have much say with HP with anything with the motherboard and power supply
HP but yeah same deal
im thinking he means the psu is a coolermaster
idk what they use in the omens these days
oh yeah hp and dell
same thing basically
What model omen is it? I can tell you what proprietary parts they used.
I'll go out on a limb and say the motherboard, power supply, and case are all proprietary form factors
What's the new case you got for it?
do you know to fix the boot light on a motherboard, because there is nothing booting on my monitor
Boot light is usually no bootable device detected
Meaning it passed all the checks
So double check you have the video cables in the right places and the monitor is on the right input
i did and nothing is popping up
You have to be green first
Keep talking In general chat
You've got the video cable on the GPU?
If so you can try flashing the bios if your board has flashback
it is on the gpu rn, and how should i flash it
What model motherboard is it
You think clear CMOS is worth a shot?
couldn't hurt
May as well before flashing bios imo
But it'll reset when they update anyway
msi z590 unify
Good you have a flash bios button
Let me grab details
The bios flash port is the one between the usb c and ethernet
Yes that's the right one
Also, h510 case cause I like how clean it is
And is this enough cpu contact
@potent portal I made it work
Took the spring screws from the old aio and it works
AB is "bios waiting for user input"
If you plug in with HDMI instead of DP it might work properly, there's certain motherboard and GPU combos that might need an update to both firmwares to get working with DP on bios.
Normally exhaust in a standard case
So back and top fans are exhaust, oki
Yeah they are
Give them a wiggle
Might need to lift from the opposite side of the cable
Beginning and end of antennas
Where would I screw these, they were connected to the front
The 2 bare metal parts
Anywhere you like that they can fit
Is that the omen prebuilt neat
And which side is #1, it's marked on one of the cables
Nah it's just hard to see
Yeah the antennas can go pretty much anywhere
Ideally up higher for better signal
The one on the right is the new light controller and the other is the old, do I still need the old?
Where would light input go
And fan control. Cause this one does both
If you're still using the 5 pin fans from the omen you'll need that old controller
Did they just... not solder pins for the rgb headers
WTF HP
Yeah
I just put in the new fans tho
So no way to use new rgb controller then?
P7 6 pin and p7 2 pin is gpu connectors right
You can use the controller, you just might have to wire it to your reset button to toggle the color modes. If they're A-RGB (3 pin) RGB then it wouldn't work on that board even if it had the pins.
Yeah that's the 5V 3 pin RGB, the board you have only has 12V 4 pin pads, so it wouldn't work even if you soldered pins in
Is this the hub? https://www.amazon.com/novonest-case-Fan-for-N106/dp/B0931Y61BR?th=1
Because if so you can just use the remote control it has
Did that Allen key set come in 3 pack? :P I think I have the same ones.
Harbor freight special
Wym? And yes
I got the 5 pack of 120mm fans, was 30$
You'll be able to control the RGB using the remote then, but not with the motherboard.
Fan speeds too it looks like
Bleh fan speed. I'm still learning curves.
I think I'm in the wrong for having my exhaust rpm the same as my intake.
Sweet I'm tired of the fans being insanely loud when it's barely pulling any load
If you have an even number of intake and exhaust then yes intake should run a little faster, especially if they have a rad on them
2 intake 2 exhaust yeah
I meant that for Reo, mb should have done a reply
The krakens connect to a usb header
It has a micro USB on one end and a 9 pin on the other for the aiolight, but that's being taken by the rgb/fan controller
USB headder?
You only have the one 9 pin?
If it takes all 8 it's easier to put the 2 in first
I didn't see anywhere that the fan controller had a 9 pin
If it does you can leave it off and just use the remote
Ah that goes to the front USB ports
Then the other one is front audio
The one on the right looks like usb c?
I doubt your board has that but if it does awesome
Where would it be I have no clue
i think it's c
Ye
1 USB 1 audio jack and one usbc
front audio is usually like the bottom of the board near the left side at lest the boards i seen, you have to look at the board instrutuions
It's from a HP š
I'm switching cases it was a pre-built š
Front audio is a maybe
USB ports is usally between bottom middle to bottom right, left of the pw,rs, led... front case stuff
USB C header looks like this btw
4+4
ya that one is tight even on my pc
Does it matter which side is which
It'll only fit one way
On the cable the side that splits into 4+4 is the mobo side
You can get PCIe cards that add extra USB 2.0 and C headers if you want to make full use of the case
I'm saving for a new mobo so it's okay
Any matte black mobos that will be good for my specs? Amd ofc
Found audio
That board is pleasing to look at.
Just I think usb and c connections left for the front io
Do I plug the display port and hdmi into the gpu?
Yes
Thank u
At this point if I found a 3060ti for around 400$ I could've built my own for cheaper and much better
Alternative if you don't like the look of the other one, this one has less patterns and more black but costs more https://pcpartpicker.com/product/7yhmP6/gigabyte-b550-aorus-elite-v2-atx-am4-motherboard-b550-aorus-elite-v2
You're basically having to build from scratch twice now though
In terms of psu cables
Gpu and mobo
I just wanted to get the pc upgrade ram and cooler n be good
But ofc 280mm aio don't fit in 30l omen case
So new case. Might as well get new rgb fans too right
Don't work
New mobo time!
CPU gets the 4+4 we discussed, you got the 6+2 for the GPU, and the 24 pin for main power. Then there's just sata power for the fan hub and cpu cooler, plus any sata drives you might have.
So from aio a sata cable to it
Yes
That gives the cooler extra power in case the cpu fan header can't give enough, which I doubt it could
Sata goes to Sata, where does 3 pin go and the other is rgb
3 pin goes to the cpu fan header, which is probably a 4 pin header but can still take 3 pin
Where would that be
Usually near the cpu
And what 2 pins on the front header are the power button pins
Top right-ish
Pump/fan?
The 3 pin goes to the one labeled that right
Cause that's where I put it
No, the cpu one, it's only to avoid the "cpu fan broken" warning when you start the computer
If nothing is in that header it thinks the fan is broken
