Just Intel things
but new z series do support it
If their cheaper chipset supported CPU oc, how could they make the consumer feel forced to buy a more expensive chipset?
Correct
Imagine if certain non-Z mobos also lowered* the boosting or removed it.

ok ok makes sense now
Also nowadays, overclocking cpu doesn't really give that much extra performance
Intel has gotten good at making their cpus boost really high from factory and squeezing most of the perf out
You can still get a little extra by removing power limits, but it isn't as much as it used to be
It's not OCing a 2.4ghz Pentium to 4GHz anymore
Yeah
true\
Or a q6600 from 2.66ish to 4ish also. That takes a beast of a cooler though & luck. --- 12400 & lower models will be the stuff to look at for "budget" rigs. The wattage alone seems really good.
@honest anchor built a hover craft. Very nice!
Hey hey hey
Haven't had an amd rig in my house since my dad used an FX 64 (3800+) or something.
tbh i went all amd cause at the time amd was at the top with low prices and performance
Lmao
hahaha my case looks like a wannabe snow white
My all amd system is still working great
Hardware cool but drivers sadge
well that time was right as 30 series cards were announced
I have undoubtedly the worst driver and card
Which?
One blue screen since June 2020
5600xt
5700xt
One blue screen in almost 2 years is fine
I’ve bluescreened many times
Nvidia moment
Still Nvidia
i bluescreened only when i built my cpu
?
my pc
Oh lol
Btw, white leds are 1000000x better than unicorn vomit.
i was thinking of cpu and typed that instead lol
Man's didn't want a prebuilt cpu smh
He handmade the pins
yeup
Soldered every single one
then bashed it in the socket with a sledgehammer
hands of a surgeon
Gamers Nexus rn
idk how but my cpu was the cause of my bluescreen and restart loop
Before they return Mobo to newegg
Or at least that's what Newegg accused him of lol
They magically sealed the box up
oh yeah i installed an exhaust fan and it wont spin 😐
Facts
nvm i just noticed the damn cable came off the pins 🤦♂️
Trying to do bluetooth fans are we
F
Yup
hey dude
Idk how to manage it better it’s annoying
I have a few outlets on the table itself I may use
Like 2
Yeah I wonder if like velcroing all that under the table would help
Yes
Never crossed my mind 😂😂
Like ever
That is so genius
get strapped or get clapped ig
😂
Cables be strapped or you get clapped, bingo. Feeling the wires on my feet would be. a trigger
I need a wireless headset my earbuds are so annoying
Like I love the feel but they are in the way
And wireless mousy and new keyboard that isn’t smashed
And new chair
Case is coming in febuary thankfully
😳
Almost wish I didn't get the Kraken Ultimate as a gift. Would've gone wireless.
Unrelated note it is so cold I’m sleeping with my sweatshirt under 2 blankets 1 weighted and also under the comforter. It’s cold bois
That’s like 5 layers
😂😂
And sweatpants
Imma prolly order an SSD tommorow. I have a chair I really really like picked out but it’s 430 dollars, no idea on a keyboard mouse or headset
Gonna get rid of this eventually 🙄
comfort 💯
Looking at that, I feel like Hank Hill when he needed the butt implants
Yeah I’ve had it for 2 years and enough Is enough
Once agai. that floor is like when Homer sees a doughnut
I just really wanna fork over the 430 for the Secretlab Titan
Like tommorow 😂
I need my checks to get like put in my account so I can
I honestly may rip off the baindaid and do that first, only like 2 weeks of work tbh
I can make it up fast
Does the Asus Rog z690-e only support ddr5?
@strong raft gotta hand it to my dad man, our whole 2nd floor and half our first floor is wood
It either takes ddr5 or ddr4, not both.
LOGITECH. yeah them. Don’t they make the best perfs period?
They'rea huge company., I had Logitech when everything was white and before "gaming" stuff was a thing. Soon as I tried Razer's copperhead & diamondback mice I was hooked. Brand almost doesn't matter now, but some keyboards have better keys than others, that's for sure.
Oh nice
My mouse is only green though... all the modern stuff often has rgb options so you pick w/e color you want
My old o.g. deathadder was blue like my keyboard, but started double clicking on button 1. Fully backlight KB would be nice for typing in the dark. Only my side macro keys are lit.
I like the G910 keyboard
I play MMOs a lot so I managed to wear out my logitech mouse in 7 months, double click. They replaced it under warranty.
G502 mouse wheel goes brrrrrr
Reason: Bad word usage
Okay appreciate it!
Should of read that before I bought a 12th Gen with ddr4 lol
Honestly ddr4 is often better than ddr5 and a lot cheaper
Ddr5 is very hard to find and expensive.
Better off just getting a mobo that uses ddr4
I hate the modern Logi logo, but they have good stuff.
It's going to take time before ddr5 catches up in performance to the best ddr4 kits. Until then, 3600c16 is still the sweet spot for price/performance, and c14 if you have 12900k.
(or any other b-die kit)
Seems popular and a decent choice. I only research peripherals once in a while. The Tarantula keeps "trucking" along
The good stuff tends to be really good, but they're bipolar AF so the bad stuff is literal e-waste.
I'd say checking a few reviews & customer feedback is smart
Non-sponsored reviews of course. There's plenty of "we'll give it to you for free if you say good things about it like x and y"
Is it thiccc?
i shoulda gotten that instead of the g640
15 by 33 Jesus Christ
but either way still a good mousepad
Yeah, desk pad > than mouse pad. Find a better excuse than mouse went off the pad.
And here I am with the mousepad that came with my windows 7 laptop. Microsoft logo and all.
Worded that wrong the Asus came with ddr5 and my ddr4 don’t fit
the g640 is more than enough space for me
Yea lol so I gotta spend like $500 for ddr5 that I don’t want lol
I ain’t takin apart my pc again
I do have one of those medium size GN mod mats for my work bench. Total game changer.
If you can even find any for that price
Yea for real lol
I know swapping ram is easy, too bad it's not that simple. Similar to when ddr4 1st came out though, but worse.
All you can really do is buy a random kit when you can (they've been in newegg shuffle lol) and hope it overclocks well
100p and I had the trident royal z ram lol
That's (ususlly) good stuff*
Not every kit of royals are good. I've seen some really bad ones.
Lol yea myn worked well so didn’t complain more got it for the looks
Do you have another pc to use or what?
Alright the damage is done
I may actually cancel that and find something with RGB
Nahh lol
Rgb mousepad? Eh, why not. Especially if you play in a semi dark room.
You can try
Idk why I constantly do this
It's the gift and curse of having everything we need and want at our fingertips
One cool thing I saw recently was a wireless mouse that charges on a wireless charger, paired with a desk pad that acts as a wireless charger
Yeah Logitech has that I think
Sounds like them but idr
I like innovation like that, though. Keep finding new ways to use the new tech.
Desk pad as the charger is pretty op.
Charge your phone, keeb, and mouse at the same time
Btw thnx for linking that silver trident ram. Shows me I "saved" a decent chunk going w/ basic stuff.
Looks like the off brands have it already
Gaming Mouse Pad with Wireless Charger for iPhone 13, iPhone 12, iPhone 11, iPhone X and iPhone 8, Large Desktop Mat Pad with Wireless Charging, with Adjustable LED Light (31.49" x 11.81" x 0.47") https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B08VNDGGCY/
i think thats just a phone charger
Yeah imma return that deskpad
isnt there one where the whole thing is the charger?
Yeah
There was a razer pad I really liked too
But I may end up getting one of those charging pads
Idk
Takes up mouse room, huge L
im wired so i dont need it hyperx pulsefire haste
what mouse did you get? wireless?
Idk why it’s 50 freaking bucks but I guess I’ll find out because it’s prolly so big
Could start with a generic bigass pad for $15ish
its a good pad tho really smooth
I think I’ll like it, deskpads are nice anyways
if its the same as the g640, youll like it
I think it was GN that mentioned in a video why it took so long to get mousepads on their store. A surprising amount of engineering goes into them.
I need to think these things through because I’ve been impulse buying a lot of stuff for the PC, hell the PC itself was an impulse buy
You and me both. Been a steep slope since I got the mobo on Ebay.
Yup
Soon enough I should get out of 2008 and get a display that's not 60Hz
So I’m wondering when that keyboard will be back in stock I like lol
Wdym, they only want to sell ones that are really good or do they build some?
God I’m seeing them for like 30 bucks on eBay
Reason: Bad word usage
Keyboard prices vary dramatically
GN tries to stand by their product quality. A lot of it is designed in house. It's better to them to delay a product until it meets their standards.
60%, tenkeyless or full size?
Here's the one https://youtu.be/XL2cY1w6ktk
Buy the new GamersNexus Wireframe Mouse Mat (36" x 12") now: https://store.gamersnexus.net/products/gn-wireframe-mouse-mat (shipping immediately)
We're extremely excited to announce the GN Wireframe Mouse Mat (36" x 12", or ~91cm x 30cm). It took us 10 months of refinement and sampling to get the print quality, fabric quality, rubber customizati...
If you had a full w/ macro keys on both sides like my og Tarantula, people would understand my mouse room issue sometimes haha
Full-size
yeah i dont see people with full size kbs anymore
The G910 is a monster lol
See rn I have a full size and use the media keys all the time so it’s quite nice
i use media keys with FN lol
I should probably get a tenkeyless with my limited space... But that's money I don't need to spend. My circa 2006 keyboard from hp works fine.
redragon k552 is the tenkeyless i have
i just want a fullsize-ish keeb
like 96%
still has all the keys but more compact
just like a laptop's keyboard
So a thin bezel basically?
I'd happily not have the macros on both sides at least. That's 2" almost
Pretty neat for $44incl shipping
Redragon K552 kumara LED backlit mechanical gaming Keyboard (Black) The Redragon K552 kumara isn't your average gaming Keyboard. Not only is it over-engineered and built to take a beating, it is loaded with features including heavy duty metal and ABS Construction, double-shot injection molded key...
kb i have
Remember ign? Apparently my kb appeared in 06
oh yeah that kb is a big boi
Deffo one of the o.g. gaming keebs. Only 2 or 3 keys are soft. Membrane is nice & quiet though. What's the quietest mech keys?
The 910? Yeah
tbh idk
Your tkl one sure is popular. I guess maybe cherry mx red or similar is 1 of the quieter key types perhaps
its pretty good for a cheap kb
i think they use their version of red switches
ive seen theres also a blue switch version of my kb but i havent seen it anywhere lately
Hi there, i am planning for a dual monitor setup. I have a macbook
how do i connect my 2 monitors to the macbook?
do i need to get some usb type c hub or something?
i will be having 2 hdmi cables from my monitor right
i am little confused
@tight sorrel two hdmi ports has to be connected to the hub?
i thought we had to use a small junction box for hdmi ports and then connect that to the hub
you connect the hub to your mac via thunderbolt, then you connect 2 monitors to the hub through HDMI
Hello, I was wondering if anyone here could help me out with a building issue I am having right now
What issue are you having?
i think ive adapted pretty well to a 60%
once you commit the extra functions to memory
its great
looks really nice and saves a ton of space too
After using 65%, I feel like 65% is the smallest you can do without weirdness
I'm still pretty annoyed of having to use fn layer for stuff like ` but I've adapted somewhat
what issues do you normally have?
actually i can see that
the weirdest thing for me is having to hold down fn while using arrow keys
i dont use them a lot other then bios because my dpi is too low but its definitely annoying
oh the
`
coders use that quite a bit dont they
I use prntscrn a lot and this doesn't have a prtscrn button too
when coding I tend to highlight blocks/lines of text a lot, so using shift+end/home/pgup/pgdown. 60% is not viable for me
65% does tend to have dedicated end/home/pgup/pgdn so that could work for you
Hi
hello
good morning
How's this for a cheap mini itx build? https://pcpartpicker.com/list/BWt7rr
GPU RAM and HDD are parts I already have
@fossil cedar we were talking about this a few days ago
Ssd for the build?
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/2Nz6nL I would do this
Ye
I do realize how much I miss the keypad on the right side of the keeb after switching to 60%, but that’s a given lol. I’ve already figured out the extra functions and stuff. Plus the only time I really use the #keypad anyways is when I typed in my pin or was making a word doc or something
Otherwise it’s not that huge a deal, I’m happy with it
i need someones help, so my pcs leds are stuck on green and id like to change them but idk how. do i change the case or install different fans in my pc? im so lost right now send helppp
i wanna do my setup purple/pink and i have mine as green currently
(fans are the only leds that are in my pc)
You probably need the software for controlling the rgb
its stuck on green, i cant change it at all. i did hours of research on my pc and its stuck on green
What fans do you have
no idea
i didnt build it, its a prebuilt
i can send you the amazon link if youd like
Sure
let me find it
amazon prebuilt
yes
D:
my dad insisted i wanted to build my own but he thinks im dumb
sooooo he bought one for me
i got a prebuilt and rebuilt it
I ordered all my parts without telling my parents and they yelled at me
well i plan on upgrading my pc once the rtx 4000 series comes out
good luck
Those fans only have green
alright is that the problem
?
You can buy different fans and sell the green ones if you want
how much could i sell em for
So getting parts from a friend 3 years ago by doing a trade with which was a motherboard, CPU and graphics card and recently it has been hard to find them on PC builders to see if my parts would work together.
I don't know what to do since it feels I'm back to square one again, I already have a case it's the newest thing I got, but everything else is old. What should I do?
i might sell them for future builds
go to the pc builder online and put in ur specs that u have
itll tell u if its compatible
I did
But it says can't find the item
Oh I can tell it's gonna be one hell of a ride
What parts do you have?
Is it your money?
Yes
Ah

Shouldn't matter then, my parents are the same way though
They also got mad when I owned 3 cars
You have weird parents. Mine would've been happy I had the money
Maybe not then
Wait your parents are judging you when you clearly have a job and live out of their house lol?
No I live in their house
No they're mad you spent money on a pc and didn't give it to them
I don't pay rent so that's why
I'm not surprised now then. Learn about a mortgage & you'll start to understand how they might feel
Classic parent move. "You should save and be responsible with your money so you can move out faster", but these days that doesn't apply nearly as much with so little housing available at prices affordable by low wage workers.
I pay for their internet and streaming services and kitchen appliances
Well then that makes more sense honestly why have 3 cars and stuff when still living with your parents
One sec I'll send the parts
I like cars
But 3
You'd win major points if you started paying rent even if it just $200/mo & slowly increase each month or 2. Just a future idea
Or just saving the money on cars and pcs for a bit til you can move out
at least imo
Cars especially, expensive yokes
I sold one of the cars
For $500
Also it was my parents idea for me to by the last 2 cars
If it was my town, moving out would be into an RV. Housing is a long wait and/or really expensive. Why I have roommates.
Ironic
Oof that's fair but who said you gotta stay in your town?
any notable difference between these 2 monitors?
Dell P2721Q vs Dell U2720Q
Many nearby towns are no different, and that would remove the 2mile commute or require new job
. Housing is like the gpu market
Not to be that guy but a 2 mile commute is miniscule lol
Exactly. I meant keeping this job in another town wouldn't be the same 2mi commute lol
I travel 2 hours a day to get to college lol
@strong raft how dare u poop me
Exactly, 2hrs a day is yikes but something like a 1hr commute is fine
I wouldn’t mind living in an RV
Say that w/o good internet
question: planning on helping my nephew build a pc (would like to be at $1,000 or under, i know, kind of tough) whats your opinions on CPU selection? i'm considering Ryzen 5 3600 or the 5600x. or should i look at intel? he wants to get into basic gameplay/video editing. but i'm sure he'd want to game a bit too and possibly stream. any suggestions?
My wifi is bad lol
1k isn’t tough lol
If gaming was higher priority I'd say 11400 or 12400. Pato will pitch in soon enough
1k is pretty decent tbh
i get that, but when you're trying to keep costs down (especially with some current pricing) for a 16 year old....1k is expensive
I think my 11600k build was $950ish. I should add it up.
I’m 16 lol
lol fair enough
Wait until b660 are fully released and then think about it imo
when are those boards expected?
11400 + ram + mobo = $300ish. That's just an example to start. Gpu is the "golden" part.
No idea homie, they’re not out to public yet apart from prebuilt
To my knowledge*
Though I don’t have a lot of that
Ryzen 5 3600 is a terrible choice in 2022, very overpriced, best bet for 1k budget is actually buying a prebuilt with the state of the graphics card market, you're in the us yeah?
Intel is actually the budget option atm
Isn’t that 1660 hp prebuilt not meant to be that bad? Prolly gotta change a few parts like ram and cooler tho
yeah, US. hoping to get him either a 3050 or 3060
I doubt they need a 3060 just sayin
If they’re doing basic editing and gaming/streaming you can do that on lower end cards
Prolly best until pato sends a prebuilt link
3050 is looking to be worse than a 1660 super/2060 so I'd aim for one of those instead, the only way you'd be able to fit a 3060 in that budget would be you get extremely lucky and get one for less than 450$
@gloomy pivot
https://www.newegg.com/abs-ali587/p/N82E16883360222 your best option
Case is meh but yeah apart from that pretty good
cool. appreciate all the help. i built my first pc in october of 2020. 16gb ram, x570 mobo, ryzen 5 3600 (quickly upgraded to 5600x) and an aorus RTX 3070. so idk how much the market has changed since then.
Yeah market is always changing
i know i'd like to get him at least 16gb of ram though. and try to future proof his graphics card as best as possible
This is what you're looking for ^
whats the price on them
that build comes out to be more than my original pcpartpicker build i did for him. (granted i'd have to finagle his windows)
16gb of ram is like £50 nowadays lol
oh i know.
I mean feel free to send the pc part picker but the problem is finding a graphics card that good for good enough price, could be waiting months or longer
yeah i feel ya on that.
also quality of some parts could be worse
i know its tough to snag them, but i had really good luck during the initial months of the 3070 and 3080
managed to pick up (5) 3070s and (1) 3080 for mine and some friends builds somehow by using inventory trackers.
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/HWymdD current pcpartpicker list (obviously missing a gpu)
If you want to try that route it's up to you
i've got time to figure out his part list yet. he's gotta save up money first
but i'll definitely look into the intel build.
@fossil cedar
Motherboard is MSI 990FXA gaming, graphics card MSI Radeon Rx gaming X BG and CPU still trying to find out what it is still
I'd change basically every thing hold on
3600 loses to 10400
and is more expensive
good to know
My 11400 thrashes anything I throw at it
i was probably looking more so at the 3600 because thats what i've built so far. and if i recall it handles multi-processing better. but i'm sure i'm just overlooking/overanalyzing things
It’s also quite a bit cheaper lol
@fossil cedar CPU is AMD FX-9590 Octa-core (8 Core)
do you know if that comes with a stock cooler?
Yes but I’d get a cheap tower cooler
That’s what I did
i think the stock cooler on it is less than par, but you could go for an 11400f or 10400/f and still have better performance/value, and get a heatsink and still be cheaper than a 3600 msrp
Intel's new i5-11400 CPU is one of the best-positioned potential rivals to AMD's long-standing $200 dominance -- except this time, AMD doesn't have anything new in that range.
Sponsor: Buy Thermal Grizzly Kryonaut paste on Amazon (https://geni.us/JMVNtOE) or Hydronaut paste for water cooling (Amazon - https://geni.us/Fsray)
Watch our Intel i5-1...
not to mention its impossible to find a 3600 at msrp anymore new
because its a non current cpu
youd have to buy used, which would be find
11400 is your best bet right now price wise
you can find one for 150 used
@gloomy pivot the stock cooler works but it’s best to get a cheap tower cooler
cool. this is all great info. thank you all
@gloomy pivot
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/skYNLP
Ohh well if they don't have the money you can only try guestimate what parts to use as prices etc will change
@gloomy pivot even something crappy like the one I’m using keeps it under 60c all core in prime 95
right, but its easier for him to get his parents approval if he has an approximate price breakdown. plus i can save him a little money by selling him my parts and upgrading some of my stuff lol
Should be fine
Like how you sent me a list and then 2 weeks later I got a sudden burst of money lol
for the video card, i'd probably try to find something less expensive. (i know the market is trash right now though)
Right well i mean total is gonna be the same 🤷♂️
I thought they had a 1k budget?
@gloomy pivot my 1070 can play all games that I play at 60+FPS on max like rust etc
more like $1k max.
1k around but doesn’t want to spend all if possible
this exactly
@gloomy pivot go for something like I have, in my bio, if you can find all us parts for under 1k
@fossil cedar okay cool
Change case etc if you don’t wanna cheap out
i'll check it out, thank you
Idk if it’s private but that should work
it works
i had some on my build and got fed up with them lol
Well then the cheapest gpu i would include would be the rx 6600( new that is) gtx 1070/2060 super/1080 would also be decent options but obviously for less money
i have the same memory in my build. probably gonna sell him mine for $40 and bump myself up to 32gb
Fair that would save like 10$ yeah
Idk if it’s in stock or if it’s good price
But it was in tech deals a few days ago
Yesterday*
its overpriced
That price is garbage
i would barely pay that for a 6600xt
I’m not from the us so it says out of stock or it’s overpriced as heck cus tax and shipping
6600 is i think 2060 performance
well, i appreciate all the help guys. i gotta run to the store before i get my kid from school
Adios compadre
heyo
I need help building a 1000 US dollor computer
What do you need?
anyone know when there bringing back the abs master gaming pc
I need a computer that can do basic gaming
Just the computer with no other peripherals
what would the absolute best pc build be?
1000$ isn’t a lot for a pc :/
1000$ pc with all parts on msrp that’d be a good pc lol
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/skYNLP
If you want to tryyy get a GPU I'd do this
Or you could get this
https://www.newegg.com/abs-ali600/p/N82E16883360235
I'd do this if you don't mind open box though
https://www.newegg.com/abs-ala218-master/p/N82E16883102989R
@sick tree this applies to you too
just ordered a sick ass pc
ok
6000 mhz ram kinda nice
Ddr5 overpriced
@fossil cedar i want intel tho
ikr
Doesn't matter
intel is better
yee
yk i want good stuff
No,
very yes
i5 11600k is a prime example
Compared to what amd cpu tho lol?
i found the one
CPU: Intel Core i5-11400F 2.6GHz (4.4GHz Turbo) 6-Core 12-Thread
GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060 (Brand May Vary)
Motherboard: Gigabyte B560
RAM: 16GB (2x8GB) DDR4 3000Mhz
SSD: 512GB Intel 670P M.2 NVMe SSD
CPU Cooler: RGB CPU Cooler
PSU: 550W Gold
Case: DEEPCOOL MATREXX 50
Operating System: Windows 10 Home
Free Upgrade to Windows 11* (when available, see below)
Dimension: 18.90" x 8.27" x 17.32"
WiFi: Yes
Bluetooth: Yes
VR Ready: Yes
ez
Lol but it's more money alright enjoy wasting your money
guess what is 1,050
That's one of the ones pato linked but anyways
Yeah okay if you don't wanna buy open box sure but the 3600 will perform within like 5% of the 11400
Yeah that too lmao
Yeah but 3600 2060 for under 900
3000 vs 3200 is pretty minimal tbf
Oh. that would be a better buy
open box tho tbf
Yeah but i literally said if you don't mind open box in the message, also i think open box is worth like 200$ savings
I'm responding to cameron saying better buy than the 11400 build, but yea
Yeah usually give 1 not open box if it's possible in budget
yeye, 2 options for the buyer
But buying the non open box just cuz intel is dumb if you don't mind open box
11600k performs the same as 5600x
And required more spensive mobo lol
Did I waste money going threadripper?
what do you do with your pc
and what threadripper did you buy?
Depends what you do yeah
If you only game 1000000000000000000000%
if you game, then pretty much every threadripper loses to like a 3600 in gaming
1950x with intentions on half gaming half structural engineering and blender
how much did that cost you?
and i dont think 50x cpus are threadrippers, unless 1000 series was different
i wasnt into tech when it was mainstream
Depends when you bought it and if you needed the pcie lanes and how much it costed
1950x was
ah
what 200$ can get you now vs your cpu
new
more like 180$
but thats single core
When did you buy it tho?
And if it was recently yeah.....
4 months ago? I've been getting parts here and there
That's horrible
If you can return the parts
Also yeah your friend did you a bit dirty
Aw man
yes
is this a decent build https://pcpartpicker.com/list/gdQd8J
What gpu would you be planning to put in this system in the future?
I'd def change Mobo, cooler, ram tho
And ssd
Right but does he plan on adding a gpu down the line?
I do not know
Because unless he's planning a 3090ti or something, there isn't much need for a 850w
Bitfenix 750 is like 60 bucks and just as good quality
You just won't get modularity or white sleeved cables
I put a 850w power supply just in case if he dose in the future
I'd ask your friend tho what he plans on doing to the system in the future
Because if he doesn't plan on throwing a dgpu in, may as well get a prebuilt with a dgpu
Where do i go to see the monitor recommendations? I dont see any under peripherals for a while
Uhhh ask us
G24f if 1080
Are there any 4k monitors with high refresh rate under $800?
Oh dang, @stoic island you can answer this
I'm not well versed with that high end of monitors
But honestly anything you recommend too ill check out too
I prefer that but im okay with other things.. mostly looking for hdr and higher than 120 hz refresh
Also is 1440 a big difference than 1080?
Rx5600xt.. i plan on upgrading to a 3000 series nvidia
Do 1080p unless you're buying a better gpu rn
G24f is also a great 1080p option
g24f when on sale good
Yeah
Ahh what brand is that?
Gigabyte
Gotcha
Any curved monitors come to mind by any chance?
GTEK F2740C 27-Inch Curved Frameless Gaming Monitor Full HD 1920 x 1080P, 1800R, VA 1ms, 240Hz, FreeSync, Speakers, DisplayPort/HDMI/Type-C, VESA https://www.amazon.com/dp/B095W1ZRYZ/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_XSGJRCS5WX18XBGY7BM2?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
Hows this one?
M27u m32u. 4k tanks fps so, eh. M27Q is the go-to around here. Not like 1080p is bad either, cheaper and gives higher fps. I'd take 2x1080 over a single 1440p setup
Guys what’s the recommended psu wattage for 3060
It doesn't use that much. A 550W psu could handle it with a little room for overclocking, 650W if you want to be super safe
That's assuming a 100W+ processor. If less like 65W, 550W is plenty
Do you have the gpu already? If not prebuilt might be the way to go
Quick question, what's the smallest mATX case I can get that will fit a 240 rad?
Smallest in what dimension? Height, length, width, or overall?
@potent portal if your free is there a way u can build a pc list for liek 1500
Like overall, I could take a higher height to compensate for a smaller width
Yeah let me get to my pc, I'm mobile rn
Ok thx
The actual smallest mATX case that will fit a 240mm rad is very expensive
Sliger Designs is a manufacturing company based in the United States specializing in computer cases and systems.
See if the nr200p fits your needs
Great, thank you both for your help.
Why would someone want green switches on a keyboard, like are switches only for sound/clickiness?
Not at all
Switches are for comfort, feel, personal preference
Many people do buy certain ones for the sound but feel and comfort is super important also
I had gotten a keyboard before i knew anything about pc building, i still know NOTHING about switches.. i like the feel but the clicking is more annoying than I originally thought
What switch do you think would be best
No switch is the best
I want clicky but not REALLY loud clicky
I like the feel of green but hate the loud clicks.. is there a switch similar to green but less loud
For a budget build that can still perform well, you can do this plus whatever gpu you can find. This will work for up to a 3070/6700XT.
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/3Xjnmk
If there's any specific needs like more storage lmk
Cxm known to coil whine btw
For that same price you can get a bitfenix 750
Recently bought this pc. I am trying to get the deep cool cf120 fans to show up in the rgb fusion 2.0 app currently the only way to control the rgb of the intake and exhaust fans is to use the button on the top of the case. Any suggestions on what to do? I have a connector that came with the pc that has controls on it for the fans but not sure if that has anything to do with it. https://www.newegg.ca/abs-ali597/p/N82E16883360232?Item=N82E16883360232
hey my friend that had the alienware pc got it fixed and when he went into a game random pixels on his monitor started showing and i told him to update his gpu driver since they were outdated and i told him to restart it and now his screen is black and his keyboared and mouse are not turning on.What is the problem
Did it come with a gigabyte motherboard? RGB fusion only works with that brand
yup, gigabyte b560 ds3h ac Y1
I was able to get my new corsair ram, the cpu cooler fan, and the gpu light working with rgb fusion just not the external fans
fans might not be addressable
Ok, check the manual for where the rgb connectors are and see if anything is plugged into them
hey my friend that had the alienware pc got it fixed and when he went into a game random pixels on his monitor started showing and i told him to update his gpu driver since they were outdated and i told him to restart it and now his screen is black and his keyboared and mouse are not turning on.What could be the problem?
CF120, I see the link
ok
trying to find where the rgb connectors are on the motherboard, sorry new to computers and appreciate your help
They're addressable for sure but still make sure them or the hub are connected to the board
Ok I'll look too
I found the sys fan connectors on the mb
You've got one addressable and one standard rgb connector at the top right
If your cpu fan took the argb (3 pin) then the fans are not connected to the board
See if the controller they're on has a connector for the board. If there's an open slot you can plug the cpu fan into the controller and the controller into the board to control all of them.
If there's no open slot or no motherboard connector, you might need to get another hub
You referring to the D_LED1 and LED C1 ports?
The D_LED1 port is a 3 prong port and has nothing connected to it, the LED_C1 port does have something connected to it
Is it your cpu fan that's on C1?
I would imagine so, it goes beyond the case at the back
Might need to take off the back cover of the case to take a better look
I missing that weird cable but idk how to find it lol it's argb cable but other side is just 2pin connector
Got a bunch of cables that came in the box
Can confirm it is my cpu fan that is connected to the C1 port
Ok, the case fans are not connected to the board then. Is there a way to connect the controller to the board? Maybe one of those spare cables
Ok, what do you mean by controller
Here's that link you tried to put
https://youtu.be/IPh-NLys_xU
Fix for the stupid rainbow RGB seizure lights when you first set up an ABS prebuilt PC from Newegg.
Please watch this video if you are having trouble getting the lights to change at all: https://youtu.be/Qe1EcTTnq5g
Yup
Also, if I get it connected, could I use the asus or icue software instead of the Rgb fusion?
The controller (aka hub) is what the rgb on the fans are connected to right now
Ohh ok, it’s the thing on the back at the top that has a rectangle shape with 3 cords coming out of it
Icue maybe but idr if it requires a corsair product to work
Ok, I can figure that out after too
You could use something open source like signalrgb or openrgb
Gotcha
The cf120c fans I have say 12v on them, however the connector has a 5v slot on it
A 5V D0V
Probably 12v dc for the fan itself, and 5v for the rgb
Ok
So the next step is to find a way to connect the controller (hub) to the D_LED1 port on the motherboard?
Yes
This has helped me narrow down the issue
There’s also a sticker at the bottom of the case that’s wrapped around a cord that says “unplug the connector if you use the motherboard to control the lighting
The cord is a SATA 5V cord that the stickers connected to
Yeah that'll be for extra power, which isn't necessary unless you have more than 4 rgb fans to connect to one header
Ok
I just got my ABS Gladiator prebuilt, and the case fans are either on or off, not controlled by temperature. Is there a way to change this?
it’s somewhat triggering my tinnitus
Switch the fans to dc mode in bios instead of pwm
While you're in there enable xmp (docp on asus)
XMP 1 or 2
Whichever is higher, often 2
Ok. I’ll do that here in a second when I finish downloading a game
When you enter a newegg shuffle for like 3000 series.. do you have the option of making payments or you have to buy outright? Im a little confused
You have whatever options you normally have in newegg checkout. When you win it's just added to your cart.
Ooohhhhh thanks i am new to this so I appreciate that.. i didnt know id youd have to hurry up and buy it
Newegg usually allows paypal, so you can likely do the pay in 4 deal or some normal monthly plan.
ye
gotta be fast
Is it 24 hours now? I thought it was 4
Been a bit since I entered
yeah, i think so
I found a cord that has the argb end to it in the box of cords that came with the pc
The two ends of it are connected to a vdg
Did so, and I can’t get the fans to do a gradual ramp up, it’s either off or 60%+
What fans are they and what motherboard?
ROG STRIX Z590-E and idk what fans
the fans that come in the Rosewill SPECTRA D100 Case
It's hard to tell but does that come with a fan hub?
not sure. never opened the back
The manual says nothing about one but I see what looks like one in pics
i can open the back and check
If there's a hub make sure only the motherboard connector is plugged in and not additional molex/sata power
Yup that's a hub alright
No sata or molex
The one that says power, trace that cable and see where it goes
It goes into molex
Ok, try without that molex connected. The motherboard should be able to handle 4-6 fans per header on its own.
More if they're the new 2A headers
So, turn off the computer and have it rely on the tiny 2 pin power thing?
It's only 2 pins on the mb connector? Hmm. And that's plugged into the board chassis fan connector right?
I think so
If it's only the 2 pins I'm thinking that's just pwm and tachometer and the power is needed in that case.
Also switching that header to pwm is probably smart
Ah, maybe there's a knob or button used for fan speed?
Only reset and LED
That really should be connected to the board. Reset is often wired as the rgb pattern change button.
What's the connector plugged into the hub mb port say on it? Might need to pull it off to read it
Should I just invest in some fans then?
No by this point I'm 90% convinced there's a wiring error. Worst case the hub is bad.
I have no clue how to take the front panel off to view it
You don't need to. Just the plug that's in the fan hub mb port. The writing on it will tell us what they plugged it into.
Below the gpu there’s nothing plugged into the case fan headers
I've seen a few cases on my Google search where they plugged the status led in instead of the reset switch so other errors are possible
I'm looking at this
It looks like the reset sw plug which is incorrect. Pull it out a little and see
i had a case where reset and power got switched
Do I need to turn off the computer first?
This would be a case of the pwm/tach being switched with the reset lol
thought the case was just bad cause i could short the power pins to turn on the pc manually but power button didnt work
Yes have it off
just tried pressing reset button randomly and was very surprised when it turned on lol
no problems after switching the jumpers, power button worked fine
sometimes it's just the smallest things that you don't expect
@potent portal you free to vc and guide me thru?
1 cool thing about most Gigabyte mobos is the power button right on the mobo 🤘
This deffo doesn't seem correct, agreed
I don't do vc and my wife is sleeping next to me
That little cable with the +- on it, just pull it out a little to see what it says.
My hunch is it says reset sw
“LED SW”
?
so the front power led is powered by the hub, lol.
maybe for higher end boards
What do I do?
Even better, the fan speed is being controlled by the led
that's a common feature on high end boards but you won't see that on midrange/low end boards from any brand
power buttons aren't even a standard feature on a lot of $200+ boards
I guess my near decade old z77x-ud3H is semi-high-end? haha
i have an asus z87-k that doesn't have one and an asus z87 strix maximus hero that has one
How do I make it so I can adjust the speeds?
There's usually a bunch of cables that come with the pc right? Look for one that has a fan header on one end that can plug in where that led sw cable is now.
Lemme check the stuff in my boxes
looks like a pretty high end board for its time
pretty sure it would make light work of a 3770K
I think the only 1 higher was like the ud5h or something with a slightly better vrm heatsink setup. Funny thing is it was probably only $150 max
prices do be going up
There’s no 2-pin things in the cables given
Nothing that looks like a 3/4 pin fan header on one end?
found a $450 mobo with no power button
this is the ud5H . both could* do ddr 3 at 2800ish.
this one I think
Top or bottom
middle pic
I’m going to need a step by step walkthrough of how to do this
ddr3-2800 on ivy bridge seems unlikely
Nah that's rgb
i can't boot above 2400 on my haswell
oops
yep, that's why it says "oc".
I have the molex one
Or
I don’t have those.
Ok. I'd contact newegg and get them to send you either a replacement cable for the missing one or a new hub.
It may be in the mobo
Just kHX1866 at cl10, wimpy I know. got the 1st 16GB a long time ago then a year or so ago found another 16GB kit for $40 so I figured why not
Possible, worth looking
If it is it would be under the radiator
which mobo?
Z590-E
tried tightening timings? 👀
not really
. I was gonna try to get a "cheap" 3770K to mess with also.
After new rig I can go crazy w/ this one, or I could try some suggested stuff.
What do you want me to do?
None of the fans are plugged into any cassis port and are instead plugged into a front panel IO
Chassis fan 2 and 3 are empty, and 1 has the radiator fan
3 pin under cpu, a cable or a header like these?
My mind got a bit boggled
That’s the CPU pins. And I can’t get to them since they’re under a radiator
idk, but i'd think that hub to mobo connection can go to almost any normal fan header. I'm not too familiar w/ using a fan hub though.
The rosewill fans use a 5 pin connector
lol darn, I feel like the specific needed cable is missing.
At the top I see one thing plugged in
A 4 pin
Next to the cpu fan socket
That’s the one that’s plugged into the hub
I'm perplexed.
I changed it back to PWM on the bios and I have the option to set the speed to 0
But they’re a bit louder now
the fans also may be min speed capped

I wish there was an M24F if you get me. Dual monitors w/ 1 as a spankin new 144/165Hz hoopty will be a good start.
There's g24f
adds to wishlist - Pretty recent production, good option. Most of NE reviews are fine. The backlight bleed seems average anyways for 1 person
Are there monitors that look the same bit would have different refresh rate, for people that like a matching set up?
Idc about how mine looks because it's kinda just whatever I have, but it'd be cool to be able to have three matching monitors without having to spend the price of a gaming monitor on all three
Asking out of curiosity, not planning on buying
If you want real monitor reviews look at rtings
I mean you could probably find similar bezel sizes and stuff?
thought so
Two 75Hz options from NE. Don't seem to save all that much unless I'm missing a bunch. My lcd was $130ish, but a few years ago.
my 1440p 75hz was 120 used
From my quick search, that ASUS is the lowest priced lcd NE has that's at least 1080p/24". We could always (possibly) remove the stock stands and get a $35ish dual arm stand of some sort. Of course r/hardwareswap or something opens up many more options. idk.
Weird question. My friends have told me it’s not possible to tear a laptop apart and turn it into a tower PC. Is that true? Would I have to replace certain parts like the motherboard and the core to make that a reality? Or can I take the necessary parts needed and switch up the wiring to make what I want?
I’m just starting to get into PC building, and haven’t selected where I want to go with it
you would have to build a new pc
You'd have to replace every part
the ram, motherboard, gpu are different, the cpu is soldered into the motherboard (in pretty much all recent laptops)
every part is different to work at a different level
😧 oh well, back to the drawing board lol
whats your budget?
also whats your laptop?
1500 starting. That’s the basic stuff w/o The graphics card is a whole different ballpark for that.
2019 Dell G7 7590
You in the us?
1500 is enough for a pc with a good gpu
if thats usd that is
#usa
Okay then you can get a 3060 ti/3070 prebuilt
if you go pre built you can get one of those ^^ for 1500
That’s what I was looking at. That’s my goal rn, up to 2k on a flex moment depending on a couple personal things
LyteGaming is where I’m looking as of right now
ABS on newegg
I’ll be honest, I hadn’t heard of NE until today. 30 minutes ago lol
But I’ll look when I wake up later today
2k for monitor pc keeb and mouse?
pato will prolly find one for you
I have a monitor, mouse, and other basic stuff like a headset already. Dual monitors with a 1660S
The built-in then a separate by HDMI
1500-2k
Ahh okay
I love the Corsair stuff, it’s been super dependable and reliable for me
If you don't mind open box
https://www.newegg.com/abs-ali581-gladiator/p/N82E16883360216R?item=N82E16883360216R
If you don't want open box
https://www.newegg.com/abs-ali554/p/N82E16883360184
ABS on newegg is the only pre built company i trust that has reasonable prices
-someone who bought a non ABS build a while ago
and regretted it
And as a brand corsair only really make some good stuff including some power supplies and some cases
Open box is a huge plus imo, I work at Best Buy and I’ve had no issues at all with OB items
Perfect, I'd get the open box model then
RN, I have a mouse and headset. Great product for that
I'd replace the cooler with a thermalright peerless assasin 120 but it's not 100% neeccesary
I’d hardly know enough about that 😅
I only recently found interest in building and light streaming
Also. Ty for this, this gives me a great starting point to start a search
No problem
It's just the cooler is a tad underpowered for the cpu shouldn't be major worry tho
aaah okay. I deal with overheating daily with my laptop. The CPU fan is failing and my cooling stand isn’t keeping up. I’m going to have the system dusted and cleaned soon though. I’m hoping that helps. It’s an underpowered laptop, but it works for what I need it too.
I will say, the NE site is a… little busy 😅
Also. Ryzen v Intel. What’s better? I’ve been Intel as long as I can remember.
neither is better
I’ve trusted my laptops to Intel power for as long as I can remember
It’s literally just preference?
amd is just as good, and amd is probably going to lead the charge on laptops till next gen
because they just dropped 6000 series mobile processors
theyll definitely lead laptops that use integrated graphics
intels mobile chips are coming out soon for their current gen i believe
as for desktop
intel is currently better, because intel has much newer chips

And Intel just dropped the 11 for tower, right?
12400 beats 5600x in both price and performance i believe
12th
Damn
Intel's laptop 12th gen stuff is gonna be pretty good probably, so decent competition through 2022.
And then there’s the X-Rated vers of the 12 series
not the igpus though
those are going to be the same as always
11th gen was just ohh crap we need to release a gen, get 10th gen and make the i9 have 2 less cores
tho ig with nvidia bringing out 2050 and mx550/570 well see
2050 looks good imo
Damn, wish I could pull my laptop apart and build from that but oh well
They've been teasing a way to accelerate their new dgpu line by having the igpu work too. Should be interesting.
Sounds like it yeah, I haven't seen anything on that
I wonder how that'll work
I'm going apu since I need a good battery life, otherwise I'd probably have just bought a 1650 laptop already
But I'll check out battery life on the 2050/mx laptops too, and compare performance
i probably don't have a need for batt life myself
i just want max perf myself lel
I'm partially getting the laptop for school
but the 680M is promising
especially since it could easily end up in laptops with usb pd
Pd?
power delivery
you just charge and power the laptop with a smol usb pd brick
600$ is mining profits
connects through usb c
yeah
they're like not bigger than a phone's charger
ones that has like 65w or something charging
Do you think that dgpu laptops might have that too?
but pretty compact compared to bricks
Like the 2050 laptops
Got it
Ah yes the not confusing at all new usb spec, usb 3.2 gen 2x2 type c revision 2.1
still easier to understand than monitor names
And amd naming
5700xt 5700g 3600xt 5600xt 5600x
amd naming is very easy tbh
When you know pcs it is
No, monitor names don't change usb does appeantly
look at intel naming
For someone who doesn't or is just getting into it it's confusing
Also hdmi 2.1 means nothing now
Hdmi 2.1a 😳
Worse, 6 core laptop i5 but 4c laptop i7
12th gen i7s
The only mobile i7s I can remember are the 750s and 800s
And the jumble of random numbers g whatever
i seem to have missed this
Nah, HDMI 2.1 should've been a good bit better, but they screwed up the branding
Hi guys so I got 2 LG 144hz monitor both are QHD, 27''(IPS) and a 32'', the 27'' got g sync but the 32'' doesnt support g-sync and I dont know which monitor i should use as a main one.
Whichever you prefer
Both should be g sync compatible
Test both as your main
thats true i the only thing is it took abit of work to swap between the two because i hook them up wtih a monitor stance
Ah
sr is this a reply to my comment or someone above me?
To you
oh lovely
