My friend bought a X570 Phantom Gaming 4S motherboard. Is that compatible with the 5000 series CPU? The website shows it is

Any idea how to update BIOS without a compatible CPU? I know this mobo doesn’t include a flash button that I am aware of

if you don't have a flash button and you don't have a compatible cpu

the only way is to pull out the bios chip, use a chip programmer to flash it, then solder it back onto the board

so basically

buy a compatible cpu

you can also try to get one of those AMD boot kits where they send you some garbage APU to flash bios then you have to return it

Or take it to a Microcenter if you live near one
