Nah it's easy you just put the bios file on a usb and hit the flashback button on the mobo
k but i also need a little bit more storage
I'd step down to a 5800x and grab a x300 4tb then
5800x having a nice sale at MC if you're near one
i dont need 4 more tb i only need like 1tb
ok
Wd blue 60ish$ is good iirc
is the artic liquad cooler easy to install
Bout as easy as any other aio
oh ok
Case comes with 3 front fans, aio comes with 3 fans, don't need more fans lol
i might need help building it i have been watching pc builds latley
What’s the price?
@fossil cedar is this a bad deal because a friend wants this pc
The Centurion - Redesigned for GeForce RTX 3060 Ti The Centurion (Intel) is Alexander PCs Tier 1 Premium Level gaming build. We designed this model specifically for gaming performance - though of course it will do other things well, too. The centerpiece of this system for gaming excellence is the NVidia GeForce RTX 306
360 or 380 iirc
like i said\\
That's a nice price(what the msrp should've been)
That pc you can get for 300 less and a i7 or something
How much do u think I can sell my 5600x for and get a 5800x or is it even worth it😂 I got my 5600x for 270 like a month or 2 ago
Honestly 5600x is more than enough for what I do now...
And not worth upgrading atm
Ig it's technically 380$ at mc with compatible mobo
Ntb
Yea micro center mobos cost more than Amazon I believe
I was comparing between Amazon, Newegg, and MC when I was building
Just use pcpartpicker and mc?
That's fair lol
what is a good mobo to go with 7 5800x? micro atx
Who can go in a call with me rn to help me put my ssd in my pc
Id go b550m tuf or aurous
Budget?
You didn't include a cpu cooler btw
yeah Idk about coolers at all
Whats budget
It is about my budget what it currently is I would say around 1600-1700
Okay
Do you need wifi?
yes
Okay
It's okay I'll just get you a wifi motherboard
and might at school
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/PYQg7X @spiral flame
I wonder what you change
Hmmm
Obvs i would have went atx but they had an matx to start so
is that psu powerful enough?
Ye
They originally had matx hence the case and why the msi 750w i thought it had 12v regulation issues
can I just change the case?
It wasn't an issue at all, just higher than other CWT GPU models
Think of it as good instead of exceptional, yaknow
lian li lancool 205m?
Ohh i see, btw at that stage might as well get the revo 850w it's like 114 atm
I'm pretty sure that thing is an oven
Ye, just lazy atm, and a-gf was around a hundred flat yesterday
Ahh
Fractal Design Define Mini C TG?
@stoic island am i right that the 205m is basically an oven right? Not super familiar with matx
Something like that
Yeah that's what i figured
@spiral flame what about Meshify C mini tg
Wait @spiral flame do you want matx or do you mind?
yeah I want a smaller form factor because I will be moving it fairly often
Fair enough
I would go versa h18 then
would itx work if in the future I want to build a custom loop?
yeah that is why I have pretty much settled on micro ATX
@spiral flame hey, what about something like a coolermaster H500 (no suffix) that has a handle if the only reason for mATX was moving around?
Not nzxt
Never nzxt
Coolermaster @spiral flame
The nzxt h500 kinda sucks, and doesn't have a handle lol
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/cFmBnL ok this this one how is this?
Yeah that's atx tho
But their reason for mATX was moving around
And a handle on an ATX case makes it ok to carry around
yeah it should be good
on a different server they said the mobo is real bad https://pcpartpicker.com/list/cFmBnL
its not lol
they dont know the board they just guessing by the looks id say
also fyi the 5800x is 450 so idk where youre getting for 400
my micro center has had it there for like a month
yup
nice
it is a bit much for me but they also have a 6700 xt for 900
That's too much for a 6700xt
It's because it's a slightly worse 3070 with no encoder not as good rt and not as good at mining
ye
its a slightly worse 3060 ti isnt it?
Nah slightly worse 3070
oh, i didnt know it was better than 3060 ti
Bout half way between the 2 depending on game
oh ok.
pretty good i think.
@fossil cedar is there anything wrong with this
Skytech from what I've heard usually run about as hot as an oven
Also that price for zen+ cpu and 1660 ti
Yike
https://www.newegg.com/abs-ala247/p/N82E16883360151 this is your best option for 1.1k unfortunately
the link is not working
Works fine for me
is it not worth it and yes the link did work
Ehh it's not really that good, what's your budget
It's just a bit overpriced
budget under 1000
Then why where you looking at a 1,100$ build?
@earnest olive yes it wouldn’t display and then it I guess decided to display I’m using my laptop because for some reason my computer broke.
My pc broke because something happened to my gpu while I was playing a game.
@earnest olive what is sus
@earnest olive Spill?
Like a drink
No when I was playing a game my screen just turned black and it didn’t turn back.
Wait……
Sure
will it mess anything up
if you have 2 sets of 3200 ram should you set it to 6400 ?
?
Bruhhh no
How's that logic even make sense
Ikr
You just have double the capacity lol
Lmao
idk double the speed ?
Why would double the capacity mean double the speed
Lmao
cause it's 4 sticks
Which means double the capacity
I mean, some spec software divides the ram speed between each stick (so 2*8 3200mhz reads as 1600mhz). Fair assumption from someone with little knowledge about parts.
That's not how it works either
DDR stands for Double Data Rate
Which means that the real speed is 1600 mhz
But effective speed is 3200 mhz
It's just a word salad is all it is
Ik ik, I’m just saying how it reads so why one might assume that 4*8 3200mhz = 6400mhz lol
Ram is confusing
So one stick of 3200 is 1600 mhz then? Mmmmmmm

there's some fun things that we'll have to sort out in terms of what's correct

not sure if you've seen it before, but it's quite a good video I'd say
So we stick with what's most regularly used

that time stamp is fun (That like 2 minutes gives the reasoning against sticking with the current 3600mhz thing)
The thing is, you can disagree with it all you want. Until it starts being advertised in MT/s instead of MHz, all we gonna do is confuse most people.
(the 20 seconds after that section in the video)
anyways, point is, good video, I agree with it, you may not, but it does give the proper terminology and the reasoning behind using the proper terminology.
You should know how little time we have to educate every single person that comes in here that everything they know about ram (terminology wise) is wrong.
It's not that I don't agree with the video, it's about trying to educate everyone that comes in here about how ram is labeled incorrectly.
Except, I would say we can save a good amount of time if we just start using mt/s as the terminology at the list building stage, to safe time later about confusion about mhz after building, and questioning xmp
And well, people will understand that 3600mt/s coincides with that '3600mhz' kit they've been eyeing, for those that don't understand the difference
But well, it's an interesting topic either way, and until the entire community gets together to resolve the miscommunication, we kind of have to go with using both units for now.
You and I both know that the vast majority of people who come here don't care about what the proper word is, they just want their PC to be faster than the last one they built so they can out FPS their buddy's system. XD
oh of course, I'm talking about innocently introducing the terminology to them so it's easier to clean up later, if possible. Although that doesn't help with the usual "WHY IS MY RAM RUNNING AT HALF SPEED ACCORDING TO CPUZ"
or just dont use units
we usually dont, we just say "3200" or "3600", makes it easy
then if they question it we answer
eh, it's this scenario I'm currently catering to, but maybe
theres only so much you can educate people on when helping em
that thing is something best left unsaid, unless they ask
unless you're ok with spending 10 minutes explaining it, then its fine
ye, my belief is that we can save that 10 minutes but still get the proper reasoning across via using the correct units
but who knows
Plz explain what coom means
uh, the only 3080 that's 700$ is FE
and FE is hard as heck to get
3080 tuf is prob going to retail for 1200
and that's retail, not like ebay or anything
according to a stock checker I use, 1050$ recently, still way above 700$
So. . . 3600 MHz is good or what?
Yeah, go back to 3600 C16 ram and save the extra skrilla for a 3080 cuz you'll need it
What does MT/s mean?
yea
But both are 3600. . . Pc building is confusing. It's like rocket science, but smaller.
its a little complicated to explain
well the difference is latency
2 milliseconds of latency is the different
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/jVq9mk is this fine
along with the different die most likely
yes
Does 2 milliseconds really make a big difference?
not rly, especially not for the price
it's fine except you're over $2500 because the AIO price isn't showing
well, the closest actual estimate is like 2 nanoseconds, and technically not that, it's 2 cycles
Thank you oh wise one.
that's where you get down into the nitty gritty stuff
its 122
I'm seriously thankful. This thing is so difficult to get into.
its out there for those who have the money to splurge on that stuff
yeah pc stuff is difficult at first, i was there about a year ago lol
basically, 3600c16 good
yea
for being lazy, refer to this chart, not great, but you know what, it allows you to be lazy and get a rough idea
I always wanted to get into PC building but never had the money, and now that I did I had to get some paperwork done which cost a crap ton. XD
transfer speed on the top, cas latency on the side
xD
What does the numbers mean on the left?
doies 5600 c7 even exist yet on ddr4?
cas latency
prob never will
nah youre all good
their latency usually higher
never be afraid to ask questions here lol
questions good
it's just sometimes hard to think who knows the answer to your question
yea
Some times I'm bad at asking questions or just slow. XD
@celest horizon can you confirm that AMD uses a 'dumb' silicon interposer for infinity fabric?
I don't know what you're asking
yes i can confirm
process? Like what process node?
do you know EMIB?
Are you asking what process node the i/o die uses?
tryna think of how to word question
basically, SDF plane, where is it, on-die? silicon interposer under die?
Wanna see my current setup? OwO
hm
Or someone in the lab server
Or ask brutus, he'd probably know
Reading this convo is making me realize I still have a really long way to go to even be somewhat knowledgeable in electrical engineering lmao
Like this is the first time I’m ever hearing of EMIB
But then again I’m only 17 so it’s to be expected
don't worry about it
I'm doing dumb research
for dumb reasons
I don't know why I'm doing it, I just want to
Screw it I’m joining you in this research
I’m interested and bored at the same time
@vague oracle here's where to start, the video is nice
https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/foundry/emib.html
anyways
now to figure out who to ask
screw it, I'll just DM one of them
This kind of stuff is a narrow specialization of electrical engineering, probably won't even see much curriculum close to that in undergrad
Could take classes on it if you choose
I'm definitely going into EE, but yea
now that I think about it, it's a very simple question I can probably google
does zen use silicon interposer xD
That’s the first thing that came up when I searched up EMIB
I’m looking through it now
god damn it google only made it more confusing
"Intel’s recent FOVEROS technology and AMD’s Zen 2 microarchitecture indicate that the 2.5D IC technology is no longer an alternative to the traditional 2D ICs, but a new trend in SoC design."
I guess it's not dumb silicon interposer
guess I need to look at 3d fabric again
What is a good cheap PC with NO RGB for the 11400?
And do you guys believe that RGB is for kids?
What’s cheap to me may not be cheap to you
entire pc or are you looking for a cooler or....?
Imo RGB can look good if it’s done right, if it’s random colors everywhere it’s for a kid and looks tacky
Entire
Cuz I made one with the microcenter builder for 561 which is pretty cheap.
No gpu btw
I did. Got better price on Microcenter.
In the future I'll probably get a 3060. If they are ever in stock.
I’d only get a 3060 if you can get it for close to MSRP, if you get it for 500 you’re paying for something barely better than a 2060 super
Go for a 3060ti or higher
Yeah, go for a 3060TI instead
30% more performance for not a lot more money from a retailer
That's what I meant
2026 is a safe date.
Spring, to be more specific.
3060ti that was just mentioned?
are you talking to me?
Yes
oh well i was wondering because i might just go red instead of green
and idk the compared card to the 3070
Asus and MSI
In that order
ok
But, you'd better ask someone more knowledgeable 😄 It's been years since my last non nvidia gpu
ok. also which one is better price to performance
imma be playing alot of triple A titles
radeon has better price to pure performance
but it lacks in features serverly
so it really depends on what you're going for
I am not sure about the 6700, it says it's worse than 3070, by far, yet the price tag is not different.
So it doesn't seem a good investment
what says its worse?
well the tests ive seen shows 6700xt winning over average
uh what's a good computer between the budget of 500-1500?
for what
tf2
id just get a 11400f and 3060ti build for like 1100ish
the first result 😄
That's your issue
User benchmark sucks ass
Worst website ever
Highly biased and untrustworthy
uh
Ask anybody here and they'll agree
You are most probably right 😄
Are you able to build your own or are you looking for a prebuilt?
I'm monkey when it comes to building pc
So prebuilt?
yeah
Ight
Lemme find one real quick
Hmm I can't find like any 3060ti prebuilts under 1.5k lol
mm
I'll keep looking for a bit
Yup, other websites that aren't user based give the 6700 as winners
Yea
if u can't find one give me the link to the closest to 1500
I mean they're both great cards
And trade blows
3070 still beats the 6700 in some games
But overall I'm guessing 6700 will win
But then you gotta consider the value in the extra features on the 3070
Hmm Id try looking again in like a week and see if they come back in stock
hey all i am having trouble, my 4+4 wont fit into my motherboard ? it'll fit on the 8 pin side but the 8 pin is supposed to go into the power supply itself (so says the motherboard book and power book)
???
pics
will those odd shaped pins go right into the square female side? cause im just saying this based on the shape of the pins
Those look like the cpu pins so should be up the top left of the board
Yeah they totally fit, it just didn't look like it would
Things are usually labled on the board and psu as well btw keep an eye out for markings
Thank you😅
Np :)
Also I just put the finishing touches on my first pc build but I don't get the windows flash drive till tomorrow, can I still turn it on and see if it works? Or would that be bad
You can go into bios yeah
I've got this cable, if I understand correctly it is for if I wanna use a controller for rgb which I don't. Do I need to cover this somehow or can I leave it loose in the case?
Cool thank you lol
Np
No alll the cable mess
I mean things look nicer when managed so
Might as well shove it somewhere neatly to keep things clean
So I have an interesting question. I have a piece of acrylic argb glass that I want to put on the video card. This is the FE card, so nothing is exposed but I was thinking of some kind of bumpers to set it on top of the card (vibration absorption, stability, etc). Does anyone have any ideas or recommendations? I was thinking like clear silicon bumpers that can be used with ovens or something to tolerate the heat.
With the fe there really isn't much good places to put acrylic, as you mostly either block heatsync or fans..
Depends on which fe card as iirc the design from 3060 ti and 3080 are different like
and @fossil cedar , it's a custom cut glass from V1Tech for backplate lighting. It came with magnets and adhesive but really that's only for cards with more of an exposed back (magnets on the screws, etc). So it's not blocking the fan at all. The fan design is one on the bottom and one on the top (3080, 3090 etc)
That sounds like it would just block the top fan tbh
But mb I'm not imaging right idk
This might help:
Now I'm more confused lol
lemme see, the backplate should be flipped, but basically it's cut to match the dimension of the card and its set to allow the fan to blow through. ..
yeh
like that.
that's how its cooler is designed
the card has a small raised ridge (silver trim), it can set on top of there...I'm thinking of putting heat resistant silicon bumpers under the coverplate...so it sits on top of the card, without melting, and still allow heat to pass through.
card will never hit above 90C, even tho some rated silicon for ovens can go to 500F
keeping that case cool should help. Didn't know if anyone has any good recommendations for heat resistant bumpers tho...or I would be the first
it will interfere with the cooling
the whole point of the Fe cooler design is that that area is meant to be a heatsink for the bottom fan to pass through
you're going to block off all that
but if looks > performance to you
I used a polypropylene lid to put a figurine on top of my gpu
@uneven oar
this is how nvidia designed the cooler to work
thanks, i might have to rethink what I want to do then.
mine only has a small passthrough area so i was able to do this
if you made the backplate standoffs tall enough it probably wouldn't impede cooling too much, but at that point it doesn't look good anymore
Yeah that's what i figured lol cuz fe cards backplate is basically a fin stack
yeah they had to do something different to be able to cool 320w in a small form factor
no room for good ol triple axial
I mean the fins are not covered at all. running idle it's at 41C
still...it's a think
yeah just sittin on there
i'm not familiar with FE temps
oh directly on top?
nvm don't put load then
backplates can get pretty hot
ill run a test with it off when i get a chance, see if the idle temps get lower
And its running 4k and 1440p
my 3080 idles at like 28C when my room is 25C
@urban trellisgo to nvidia control panel
manage 3d settings
set "DSR - Factors" to Off
And in fortnite it lets me set it to 4k and 1440p at 60 hz but when i go to 1080 p my screen is black
fans dont run on mine
oh ok
it is off?
the backplate wouldn't block any airflow if the fans are off
uhh
are you sure you have a 1080p monitor
lol
yea the box legit says
and on my desktop it works 1080p 144 hz but in fortntie my screen goes black
and its looking for a different input
like it switches to dp and other hdmi when i launch fortnite
and when i click my windows button my screen comes bk
https://www.guru3d.com/files-details/display-driver-uninstaller-download.html
https://www.nvidia.com/Download/driverResults.aspx/175537/en-us
Here you can Download Display Driver Uninstaller, this Display Driver Uninstaller is a driver removal utility that can help you completely uninstall AMD/NVIDIA graphics card drivers and packages from your system, with...
install DDU and newest nvidia drivers
disconnect from internet
run DDU and remove nvidia driver
restart
Oh yea ive use ddu before
and then install newest nvidia drivers
k yea ill try that
then reconnect to internet
I overclocked my monitor is that an issue
Right, it only turns on when a game turns on by default
i set it back to 144 after it wasnt working
my gpu has zero rpm as well
but it's annoying
i'm running dual monitor with one at 1440p165 so it idles hot
yeah it can be initally..good headphones drown out the slight noise
hovers between 59-60C
and 60C is when the fans turn on regardless of load
so it just keeps turning the fans on and off
which is bad for the longevity of the motors and also really freaking annoying to hear
so i just override it with 50% fan speed minimum, which is quieter than hearing them turn on
oh yuck that's not good. Maybe put cold drinks in front of the case to suck in the colder air lol
it just idles hot when there's a 1440p165 monitor that it needs to power
either way 50% fan speed is quiet enough that it won't bother me
have to strain to hear it at all
ok so I unisntalled driver and im downloading new driver
you're supposed to download new driver before you uninstall the old one
and do it all while not connected to internet
y tho
when connected to internet windows update will auto search for and install a much older driver ver 432
not the same thing
no like acc disabled
I have that disabled as well
why...?
so when you plug in a new keyboard it doesn't work until you manually install a new driver?
wdym
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/cFmBnL how is this list but a 3070 ti?
I do lmao i dont have geforce experience for screenshot
lemme snd picture
you literally don't even know what i'm talking about
doesnt work
seems fine
how can you be this dense
on the 10th what sites should i have open to try to score one?
i hate it when people ask for help and then continuously try to act smarter than everyone else
3070 ti
nah im just saying i have updates disabled for windows even for drivers
every one of them, and shuffle
not sure can't say i have been paying attention to the launch at all
you are literally not even talking about the same thing
but you keep insisting on wasting everyone's time by saying it over and over
cringe
all I can think of is best buy, and newegg what are more?
ok im done reinstalling driver imma restart now
andorama, b&h, amazon, gamestop
then the list is andorama, amazon, gamestop
heh. Is that true tho? thought we got past that crap generations ago
b&h didn't get the memo
further reading
wow, smdh. That's disgusting. Lessee linkie readie time
👀
so yeah @spiral flame the list is newegg, best buy, andorama, amazon, gamestop.
I'm trying to get a bootable copy of windows into my flash drive, but it's been stuck on 20% for a long time, am I just being impatient or is this taking longer than it should
thanks I'll avoid b&h
Ok so i found the porblem was my monitor
its working at 1080 p with display port
but not with hdmi
its so weird anyone please help
That's soo sad wtf
*Had segregated bathrooms
Still sad tho
I the lawsuit started last week so not that long ago
Oof
It's from 2016.......
Oh lol
still I won't be shoping there
bro this is so weird
what
my monitor is working with display port in fortnite
but when i use hdmi i see desktop but when i open fort my screen goes black and witches to different inputs
but when i set it to 4k it works even on hdmi like wtf
and I tried it on my other pc with hdmi and it worked in 144 hz 1080 p
like wtf is this
is it under warranty?
i just got it today lmfao
'cause it seems loke you might want it replaced
hold up imma try without a driver
Try a different cable?
ive tried 2 different hdmis and a display port
it works with display port at 144 hz
but thats from a diff pc
should I buy a hdmi 2.0 and try with that?
and it works 144 hz on my desktop but it doesnt in fortnite
acc it works now
hey everyone i'm having a hard time deciding between two builds and i would love if anyone could give me some insight on whats good and bad if im missing anything or if there is something i can cut cost on
Sure, pcpartpicker links are great for this is you have one
i have a google doc link is that ok?
Yeah but I'd make sure your real name isn't tied to the account or it'll be visible
Create a new document and edit with others at the same time -- from your computer, phone or tablet. Get stuff done with or without an internet connection. Use Docs to edit Word files. Free from Google.
@muted patio yes it is mee6 just didnt like the link
Right, you need have a couple more levels before you can post links 😉
yeah im still a rook 😅
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/4M8vy4
is this a pretty good build
See above
List isn't public, requires special access
Can you put it on PCPartpicker instead?
yeah ill do that
so the motherboard on the build is good? i've heard a lot of people say it's not really good
VRM is fine, VRM temps are fine. Don't see any reason you'll have issues with it
Change the AIO to an EK 360mm or Arctic Freezer II 360mm. Same price much better cooling.
3600 C16 ram should be the same price and slightly faster
Power supply is a bit overkill but leaves room to upgrade.
Otherwise looks good
ok cool thanks for the input 😊
YW
my fans dont turn on unless i put them on full speed mode
Check your fan curve/profile
GPU or PC?
i am not using a custom one
Ohh yeah if it's just gpu and its idle then that's the way it's supposed to be
Go into the bios
i have never changed the curve
Well your default one might be 💩
Are they 3 pin or 4 pin?
Also all the fans plugged in properly and set to dc/voltage
On a 4 pin header?
they came with my case
For EVGA, is their 3080ti going to be available for purchase on june 3rd, or is it only opening the notification queue?
There are no details yet, probably tomorrow when the ebargo lifts
Ok listen I am going to be realistic. I want a good pc and I would love to spend 1.5k on one but if I'm being g honest with myself this will be my first pc and I think $500 USD is good price range for start. Can anyone here maybe take a little extra time to make me a part list? Like actually look at the stuff on the list and see if you would recommend. If not its okay I just want to get something to game on not stream.
prob could get a decent igpu build
here's a decent-ish start
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/LD9pwz
@stoic island tysm like actually this looks good
:)
Will it be a good pc to run games like MC
yea
Great man you literally the best you have helped me so much
hello, i am new to the computer world and purchased a Pre build and am not satisfied with the performance it is a B550 Gaming X V2 // ryzen 7 3700x //3070gpu and i am trying to get more FPS while gaming should i upgrade to ryzen 9 5900x. if i were to to do so, would i notice a drastic change in performance? or would i need to change the Motherboard out as well or does that affect performance at all?
Like whenever I need a build you always help
:)
What games and what FPS? Also, got a link to the prebuilt so we can see specs?
What performance issues are you running into atm?
yeye, main worry about prebuilt specs is if it's only single stick of ram
If I had to guess, low/slow ram
My 3700x/3070 combination is 1440p 120+ FPS in a lot of games
"currently getting around 100 fps on warzone which is really the only game i play at the moment https://www.ibuypower.com/Store/Gaming-RDY-EMRRG206"
Hahah everyone gets bad fps in warzone
Pretty much
The ram is a bit slow but not terrible
I don't see anything too out of whack there except the cooler
I just cap my 2080 super to 90 fps at 2k and it runs fine
and the case
Which is probably limiting CPU performance
and the GPU design
jordan and i are friends and i am currently getting 130+ frames on I7 9900k on 2070 No OC
120mm AIO and 3200 mhz ram are most likely the culprits
Turn the resolution scale down
(That 3070 heatsink looks really thin)
It's probably a gigabyte or MSI model
Wouldn't say ram is the issue. Would be bsod more
???
Check in bios and see if it's running at 3200
@stoic island I did this one also is it better or worse than the one you showed me
You aren't going to notice a difference in a couple hundred mhz
Ram speed makes a difference on Ryzen, 3200-3600 is 5-10% or more FPS in some cases, game dependent
intel stomp all over that
Kk just wanted to check
wonder where you're getting a 1050ti for 100$
Ty again @stoic island
they're like 300$ on amazon nowadays
Daym
(even though it's worth like 75$)
1050TI 2 GB??
300 for a 1050ti jeebus
Xd
Ya
with the gf116 iirc?
Just find a 980ti 6GB on ebay
It totally is yeah
how does a 120mm aio have anything to do with speed performance i am just curios i am also new to pc
thermals
The cooler the PC the higher the boost clocks
The hotter it gets, the more it slows down
ahh ok makes since
120mm AIO isn't really sufficient and gets beat by good air coolers
If it's a crappy aio, the CPU might be hitting thermal limits, and therefore be thermal throttling, therefore lower frequency, therefore lower performance
I mean tdp is at least 100c so he shouldn't even be throttling
And Warzone leans on the CPU a lot
wat
'tdp is at least 100c'
has NOTHING to do with throttling and everything to do with boosting
Is his temps over 100c?
bruh
CPU's lower clocks without thermal throttling
Once they hit 75-80C the clocks start going down
Not really unless the power plan is set to balanced or something lower
thermal throttling is like dropping below base clocks
how do i check cpu temp?
hwinfo64
HWINFO64
Yes I know what throttling is. These CPUs designed to work fine at 80c. Not recommeding though
And at 80c you're losing clock speed
ye, boosting behavior takes into account temp
is that just a program that can be searched and downlaoded?
Yep
They work fine but not as good as they work at 60c, since they lose some clock speed
HWINFO64? https://www.hwinfo.com/download/
remember, base clock on a 3700x is 3.6ghz, boosting beyond that, like say 4.2ghz normally, is boosting, higher temps means the CPU boosts less, down closer to 3.6ghz, and if you go over 95c, it would thermal throttle and drop even below 3.6ghz.
Exactly
Yea, installer, any mirror
👍
But what are his temps with the 120 aio
I'm still a bit suspicious of the GPU design lol, so thin
that's what we're checking...
I'd expect that particular 120mm AIO to be on par with or worse than the factory Wraith Prism cooler.
I don't really don't see an issue here. 100fps in warzone is plenty
Granted cooling needs to be upgraded
Plenty for you, not for them.
@stoic island brooooo if you could can you add like headset mouse keyboard chair and desk? Cause rn I dont have any of those I play on 2011 dell laptop with 2 cores and 4GB RAM
@shrewd fjord what's the budget for those?
Yeah turn down resolution scale for more fps
Mmmm let's say 300 or is that not realistic
I can't really speak for chair and desk, since I'd just reccomend you physically go to an ikea or home depot or something and try things out and find what you like and fit in your room
@exotic marten understood but...im on an i7 with 2070 and i get 130 plus on 1080 we just figured he should be getting more than me considering the hardware?
but 300 for headset mouse keyboard would be reasonable
@stoic island k do that then please if you could
You need to start with the game settings first
I really appreciate you taking time from your day to do this for me
@shrewd fjord do this real quick for mice
https://www.rocketjumpninja.com/products/mice
:)
I realize a 3070 rips but warzone sucks so you need to start there
lol k
Palm
Yea wrong link lmao @shrewd fjord
https://www.rocketjumpninja.com/mouse-search
but that'll tell you nice mice that'll work for your hand
anyways, is hwinfo64 running with sensors only?
kk
How about this? @stoic island
Amazon.com: Logitech G502 HERO High Performance Wired Gaming Mouse, HERO 25K Sensor, 25,600 DPI, RGB, Adjustable Weights, 11 Programmable Buttons, On-Board Memory, PC / Mac: Computers & Accessories
I go back to work can you put list together of mouse keyboard and headset oh and monitor
g502 works
No tests, no results, no opinions XD
@shrewd fjord for keeb, I'd grab a Keychron c2 hotswap with gateron browns for ~65$ on amazon to start off, and for headset, I would suggest a drop PC37x for 120$, for monitor, I would try to grab a g242 for ~190$ if possible
Would you be able to tell
No tests, no results, no opinions
Can't tell anything until we have benchmarks
Ok than if I get lucky I’ll get one and than decide if I want or not than return it
Also
Is it going to be on nvidia only
Or will people be able to but it on Newegg etc
Ok
i think he is having issues getting this hwinfo64 program running can one of you all take a direct message and do a screen share i am not familiar with this at all please?
It better be good for some partners to list them for more money than a 3090 by a LOT
@stoic island he is having to make an account and all that jazz
excuse me what
@green laurel did he accidentally click something else?
hwinfo does NOT need an account
I don't think hwinfo even has an account system
can he screen share with you possibly?
@green laurel give him this link
https://www.hwinfo.com/files/hwi_704.exe
i dont know what i am looking at so i cant help him
ok and top right corner click download..right?
if you use that link, it should just automatically start the download
vintage I just posted that link xD
I saw that LMAO
lol
@green laurelgive him this specific link again
https://www.hwinfo.com/files/hwi_704.exe
not the other one
might be because browser discord
Actually
Even clicking on the link in the drop down on the website just redirects me to the website
No download
wat
Yeah, that one just boops me back to the website also. Wonder if Ad blocker is interfering with it?
Download HWiNFO64 - a 64-bit Professional System Information and Diagnostics Tool..7
My adblocker isn't doing anything to it
it keeps popping up another page over and over
I thought you used ublock origin too vintage?
No, it let some things through my other one doesn't
huh
welp, techspot too
https://www.techspot.com/downloads/5245-hwinfo64.html
various mirrors for the same thing
I wonder if my adblocker is actually helping by taking away ads that looks like the right download xD
ok thanks for the help we will get results under load and be back for more lol
I use portable over installer
Hmmm can we maybe get a lower cost headset. I want to try and stay close to 300
Okay thanks man you the best
both with integrated graphics
Ok
3200 mhz ram
3060
Anything uswd is ridiculously priced
simultaneous multi-threading
Ok
intel calls it hyper threading
for that is amd a good brand for smt?
what
Intel just calls their multi-threading hyper threading, so technically AMD is the only one that calls it smt.....?
if you want a cpu with smt
get a cpu wth smt
lol
doesn't matter if it's intel or amd
I suggest you dont do that again
pg13
inappropriate jokes require nuance and cloaking
this is not nuanced, get outta here
It was I think wasn't it?
bye bye topic
Ok
wonder if you could use a meizu dong with a kph30i
the pc I ordered gets here in a little under a week
nice, what is it?
q87m-e board with an i5-4460, 8gb ram
did not know 4460 existed
What's a cheap gaming CPU but good proformence?
simple but it will get me compatibility with parts I have
lol
is it ark being dumb or
pretty sure it is
aren't the q chipsets made for business applications?
cause they have com ports n tpu stuff
or whatever it's called
Is apple going to come out with a gaming mac?
no probably not
meh, I usually just trust ark for dealing with old things
trusted platform module thing?
¯_(ツ)_/¯
look at Asus page for cpu compatibility it should say on there
10100
i3
~100 usd
4c8t
ah might need bios update?
can you overclock a integrated graphics?
if it's shipped with the CPU in it the seller's likely already updated the bios lol
9x series chipsets ship with haswell refresh support which is why I was looking at getting a ga-h97m-d3h
but this seller has nicely priced basic computers with decent 8x series asus boards
most of the listings I find for h97ms are from china lol
lel
I mean you can overclock integrated graphics maybe a little but never really done it
I dont know the difference between the G and the GE
It's not out yet, won't be released until August 5th.
need to wait for some benchmarks to show up
isnt the GE out already tho?
It's out for OEM's but you can't buy one retail until August 5th. Might be able to get a gray market from China or something before then.
yeah
Ok
he could be gettting an oem
did you just watch LTTs video on it?
or saw AMD earlier?
I'd rather wait for real benchmarks than take what AMD says at face value XD
^
^
Ryzen 5 Vega 11?
Is that a good CPU\GPU?
Earlier you said you wanted a cheap, budget gaming machine, that means Intel
5700G won't be cheap, $300 or something
Not sure if this is the right channel to ask this, BUT I just purchased an Eclipse P500A DRGB Case (from Newegg) and I have a MSI B350M Gaming pro motherboard, I was wondering if there was a way to connect the RGB fans that came with the case (3 pin RGB connector) to the motherboard (4 pin RGB connector) to be able to control the RGB colors?
