i bought a motherboard from them last year and it cam back broken and same with a spu AIO cooler
That’s either shipping or the seller
Or just bad luck
Yeah Id rather go newegg
yeah may be different there
would msi 2060 gaming z 6gb card be better with a Ryzen 5 3600x or the MSI 3070 3x oc card be better if I can win the suffle and buy the 3070
COnsidering the prices of 2060's, get a 3070 instead
Well the 2060 is 892 and the 3070 that is in the shuffle is 739
but the thing is, is being able to get the 3070
3000 or bust
Reason: Bad word usage
Yeah this pricing is crazy everything got so expensive then scalpers taking all the new cards
Any leads on places that have stocked 3070's?
None of them are in stock
prollychina
Yeah i know new egg has on it the product shuffle but my luck is crap and willnever get it
may be worth checking chinese amazon Alibaba lmao
idk, probs only on hws, of which is rather rare to get any Ampere listings scalped or not. I havent really looked at other places but I think it's near US hws except for 3080fe cuz we dont have that. Asking price of 3080fe is easily 2.8 - 3k cad
guys should i start building my motherboard components before the case and power supply arrives or wait till all is here?
Wait
one last q- if my psu is 650 and the watt usage is probably around like low 400 i'm alright correct
ok
What parts exactly? 65W Cpu can pull 150+W
I mean you could start but you'd just have to leave your mobo and all on the box and in the way of other stuff and then when you build whole thing it's just gonna better if you wait
You did what I did earlier XD
5600x and 3070 @muted patio
650W is fine if it's a good one
interesting
650W Gigabyte PGM? Nah, EVGA N1? nah. S12III Seasonic, maybe. Most everything else will be fine
What plug is this came on the case?
i mean i got a powerspec so 🤷♂️
USB 3.1/3.2 Type C for motherboard
Ok.
Powerspec is rather low end but should be OK
😓 alrighty
Your motherboard most likely doesn't have a connection for it
Still kinda new
It has one according to the manual, it's a new motherboard z590 arous elite.
My audio isn’t working on the hdmi on my mobo, what should I do?
Are you using the integrated iGPU from the processor?
Yes
Did it work before?
Nope
I'm not sure that's supported with iGPU's, I'd need to check
. i had a 750w evga in my old desktop this whole time
probably best not to reuse though huh
It's right at the bottom of the ram slots
Ok
Oh dang. I kinda assumed it would use the audio from the mobo for the hdmi port, but considering the fact it worked when I plugged in my speakers to the 3.5mm audio out you might be right
3.5mm jacks are from the onboard audio processor, typically Realtek
From what I'm reading, the iGPU needs to be set as the main boot device in the BIOS
To have the audio come from it
I’ll try that, if it doesn’t work I’ll run an aux cable
Do you have any idea on how I would do that using Msi click bios?
I don't know what heading it's under. What board
H510i pro WiFi
It’s going to go down this weekend
H510? Better not be anything more than an i3 on there
It’s an 11400...
whyyyy tho
It was what was in stock when we ordered. At least it has some form of vrm cooling...
But b560s are like 10$ more or same price
Yeah sorry sorry my b
I literally just said “what was in stock when we ordered”
Fair fair sorry didn't mean to seem that harsh 😅
F7 takes you to advanced mode where it should be under something like Onboard Devices
Like literally no boards were in stock besides this, and it doesn’t seem too bad (besides this painful Msi bios).
That's fair, is the msi bios that bad?
Even a little heatsink on the SoC vrms which was surprising
Ntb
It’s pretty bad IMO
My msi bios isn’t too bad but I have a z series board. The main thing about msi is dragon center which on some devices messes stuff up if you don’t install it
Ooof at least it aint asrock
They might have cut it down for the h board then
They did
Well I couldn’t find the setting in the bios, but I’m just gonna use an aux cable, it works with one
Sorry, I can't find a BIOS manual for that board lol
All good, thx for the help
Mushkin Pilot E is cheaper than Sabrent, save you $20. Otherwise lookd great TBH
I'll look it up bro, thanks man!
Is gpu stuff good now?
I need to haul my parts somewhere in the house so I can take a good picture to show off. (Minus the hard drive I already removed from box and placed in an external enclosure to start backing up my files from the laptop. Particularly my Steam library 'cause I ain't downloading all that again.)
definitely, (insert sarcasm) the powerful GT 710 is going for a reasonable 250usd on ebay right now
Lmao
My internet connection isn't as terrible as it was, but if I can not have to redownload several tens of GB of stuff...
My first build pc just booted 😀 one problem only one of my Ram sticks are being read out of my two
I'd reseat the RAM as a first resort. One stick probably isn't all the way in. (No biggie, it happens.)
Thanks
Imma get a rtx titan
Trust me, if the worst thing that went wrong with the build is a failure to insert the RAM properly... you did good. Even the pro people have that happen.
(And this is why we do not put the side panel on until we're sure no more meddling with the internals is necessary.)
My rams working fine now I’m having trouble installing windows. I don’t know where to change it to let me boot with the usb. (I’m using an msi motherboard)
usually F8 is the boot menu
Can testify, ram was not all the way in in my 29th build I’ve done
Other common mistakes that happen - forget to switch power supply on, forget to check if the power strip switch is on, plug the monitor into the mobo instead of the GPU, fail to plug a power cable in properly... Lots of little issues that are obnoxious but not the end of the world.
Heck, I had a dumb moment when the guy came to install our new cable TV service. We were trying to figure out why the TV and box wouldn't come on... Turns out I'd unplugged the power strip because we'd had a bad storm a couple of days prior and forgot to plug it back into the wall.
hey someone wanna check my build to see if i should change anything or add anything
so what is it 🤥
It's fine
Something like an 8800 GT maybe?
I'd personally grab like a revo d.f. 850w for 10-20$ more just because tho
me?
ye
aparently this is fe for 8800gt tho
looks a bit different
what
silicon motion?
What is the best monitor
for what price
200
try MSI G242
How about 300
Depends on the GPU at that point
stretch the budget a bit more and Gigabyte M27q
godly 1440p panel
but not all GPUs will have fun running 1440p
What is the best 60 keyboard
theres a lot
take a look at the drevo seer pro
rk61 is also good
i have the drevo and its pretty good
52 for gateron switches and bluetooth 5
and good rgb
Is k552 good
What is the best 60 keyboard under 70 dollar
prob rk61
Is red switch good for gaming
red or brown, your choice
the best
smh
but some people may also prefer brown
I like tactiles
because you can feel the key being pressed
most people are fine with either
i love how smooth reds are though
but seriously more people should look at the drevo keyboard
I think someone said I'm going to have to flash the BIOs on my mobo before it'll boot with my 5600x.
It's a "if it doesn't boot, just flash bios" thing
or you can choose to pre-emptively flash if you want to
MSI b550 Gaming Edge Wifi
hmm
i dont know about msi
but on my asus board
there was a sticker next to the ram slot
that said which bios it had
oh yeah that too
It mechanical better than optical
yes
mech hotswap has much more options than optical hotswap
meh
technically you could just get a mech switch with lower actuation distance with mech if you want to lol
it's kinda gimmicky
Mechanical brown is good right?
yeah
gateron brown and red are nice
jack of all trades
browns are the best to start off with imo
so did I
like holy crap they were knockoff chinese switche
like jixian or something wack
so wobbly
so rattly
What is the best mouse under 70 dollar
5’6
hmm
13 year old
what’s the average fps you would get on mc
what
My mouse
Fingertip grip it slow and hard
like 10-20fps kind of thing xD
oh ok
you should look at
viper mini
the model o
and like theres a cooler master mouse
mm711 or something
you should also ask in #peripherals-and-displays
lots of geeks there
what are you on about
Can someone help me out with a build? Here's what I have so far. I'm still not settled on the mobo.
8800gt wont even support modern games due to old directx support lol
Sell 8800 GT to retro game enthusiast
eh, they asked about minecraft so
I know
it’s just sitting in my apartments basement lol
@sudden jewel Well, let's start from the top, I wouldn't suggest the motherboard, as that specific model has a lack of fan headers, I would try to go for something like aorus b550 pro if you want to stay at the price point, something like a B550m pro-vdh wifi if you want to save a bit on the motherboard
would it actually sell? @lyric thistle
Yea I guess
for around how m
Not much
rip
Take a look at the card n see what the stickers say
@sudden jewel Next, the ram is just okay, it's a bit overpriced, but if you really wanted rgb..?
Otherwise, I would grab a ballistix kit like this
https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1548846-REG/crucial_bl2k16g36c16u4b_ballistix_32gb_16x2_3600_mhz.html
I'm fine with the RAM not being RGB, just was going for 32 GB
Next in line, the MP33 itself is a decent nuff SSD, but beware that the parametric filter might throw out wacky crappy drives at other times.
3070 you'll want to edit in pricing just so you can see total pricing, but just make sure you can get one.
Case wise, 4000d at 95$ is quite mediocre, I'd grab a td500 mesh for like 5$ more, moar fans moar cooling.
I'd not buy anything else until you get a GPU.
PSU wise, Revolution D.F. 850w is higher quality and Cheaper.
hello i am new to pc building i was wondering if it would be hurt or help cpu temps if rad 240mm was on top and 1 fan was pushing and 1 fan pulling may be a stupid question i just am not shore?
Ifbtop, both exhaust
I currently have a R9 390X which will work until I can get a GPU at roughly MSRP, so I'm not super concerned there.
Heat should go out of the case not back in ;)
fair
right i thought the same but that is why i was wondering if it would be more optimal is 1 of the fans was sucking in cool air just didnt know thought..
Nope.
but ok good deal thank you!
👍
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/BsyM7X
i think i made a 5600x + 3070 build with a monitor for it's not completely wasted on with some actually decent parts for $1500
might get it who knows
yeah but keep in mind that all the other 3070s besides the founders edition which is pretty hard to get are all like $600-750
yea i know
FE is in the list so I assume they're going for FE lel
which is more bang for the buckl 3060ti or 3070
3060 ti imo
3060 ti for 1440p or under
ok
or i can go 3060 ti and spend more wisely
hey it's $100 more to work with
well just gotta camp bestbuy
or get scalped

lol
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/qNJLgt here we go
actually better stuff
oh wait it's $70 yikes
or sn550 for like 12$ less
and also, 3600c16 ram might be close in pricing
iirc just 90$
gimme back our 50$ 3200c16 and 75$ 3600c16
kinda
i guess
i think
like $8 off
ballistix 3600c16 calls out to you
wait when was this a thing
well it is apparent i have some memory issues
those were the good old days
ahah see what i did there
hehe
Ok, with those edits I'm sitting right about at $1500, which is where I wanted to be.
No
why 850w
also damn td500 is cheap rn
pog
For 3070
MP33 is so bad, Mushkin Pilot E, only need 650W for that GPU,
I saw LTT's benchmarks and it seemed these GPUs could spike in power usage
I've heard very conflicting information on how much is needed. Ok, so that was only for the higher end ones?
Better SSD recommendation?
Mushkin Pilot E
I was pretty sure that that's what I had initially. Idk why it's this one now
Another $15 for a whole lot more performance
Ok
Would it be worth it to keep the 850 for upgradeability?
At that price, it's not much more than a lot of Gold 650-750s
Also, the reason I don't have more storage or a monitor is because I plan on using my current ones until I can upgrade more.
i was wondering if anyone know when the next batch of 3060 will be avaliable?
nope
not that a 3060 is any good in general
at least, compared to the rest of the 3000 series
and 2000 series...
2060 super
The 3060 is equivalent to a 2070 non super
In my testing at least
Depends on the game, sometimes 2060 super
Depends on the game, sometimes 2070 super
Overall from the vast marjority of reviewers, 2060 super
should i instead get a 3070?
id go 3060ti tbh
No, 3060TI is the sweet spot
its best dollar to perf card in that range
~10% less performance than 3070
3060ti for sure yeah
but much less cost
ofc, 3060 is big upgrade if ur coming from like a 750
in those cases maybe worth more
If you can get a cheaper 3060 like the under $400 ones, may be worth
Oh really, well let me look this up and see
Mine is quite literally performing at the same level as my 2070
Granted I OC’d both of them as anyone would
why the wink 🤨
why not the wink

It does have pretty good oc headroom
Oh I got most of my GPUs early
lucky
Like for example
On September 17th when the 3080 came out and nvidia website crashed
Scalpers had that stuff up for only $100+ markup back then
Which funny enough is way less than current tariff MSRP
Oh how times have changed
$500 oof
sheeesh
No
Micro center be overcharging
in short, frickin awful price
Well, those have been discontinued for almost a year
That's what happens with discontinued products
My friend bought in order to try to sell for more so he can buy a 3080 for himself
But he can't find a buyer
yep
Hw said he'll refund it if no one buys it
no one actually wants a 2060 for 500 bucks
Well yeah because that's what they're going for on Ebay
i'm now having the issue of not knowing the first thing to play
i updated all my drivers and everything and here i am
empty inside
downloading flight sim which will take almost 2 hours
You could play this segue to our sponsor
yeah some ass wanted to scalp it harder to get money off it
kinda backfired
instant karma lmfao
Remember when you could, like, buy a graphics card at MSRP? Just imagine...
Not for 2k....ouch..
i mean for like 1k you can get better perf...
Im on my phone else id do a list
im open to suggestions i just dont want something over 2200
thats my budget
use case?
like gaming, productivity?
a mix of both
@hollow juniper im a bit busy rn but heres a white build i made a while ago thats probably not the greatest for current prices, someone can probably edit it if they want https://pcpartpicker.com/list/rwm9dD
id prolly go pilot e 1tb and a cheaper mobo, with a 850 watt revo d.f. for more headroom and its cheaper lol
👍
im going to save some budget and put the build in an h510

the fire in that emoji is the absolute fire coolness of the case

ok
i spent like a minute trying to figure that sentence out
anyways is the 6700xt worth the $80 bump over the 3060 ti or the $20 cut from the 3070?
i can fit all of them in my budget if i screw around with it enough
time to get scalped
nah 6700 xt is kind of a weird price point since its closer performance to a 3060 ti
but with that price bump
plus if you care at all about rtx or dlss then ur gonna want an nvidia card anyways
gonna upscale to 1440p on minecraft when native 1440 will still max out the monitor let's gooooo
about 2 weeks into my hunt i got a zotac 3060
i kinda stopped trying from january to february
for how much?
i actively avoided zotacs for the poor pricing to perf
550, was 480 before taxes/shipping. its pretty rough but it does amazingly in my games
hmm
and doesnt get too hot
yeah evga is gold
insane
evga is really nice in that regard
especially because its a big boi
like beefy cooler
but i mean in this market you get what you can yknow
frr
how do you queue for evga
then how do
ok
then how am i supposed to get a card for close to msrp then
i use falcodrins server/stream to get alerts for stuff
bestbuy @little osprey
time to get beaten out buy people who can click faster than me
hell yea
yeah bestbuy is just pure luck of whether or not queue lets you through
i was so close to getting a 3070 fe but it pulled a quick one on me in checkout by saying no pickup within 250 miles and no shipping
soooo
what am i gon do
if i have to wait till 2023 to get a gpu
i will lose it
well like i said falcodrins server and stream is pretty good for alerts
but if you arent able to be at your computer a lot to receive alerts and stuff then its gonna be super hard
also if you live near a microcenter then you may be able to get one if you go super early in the morning
3 hours away go brrrr
wake up at 2am go hahahaaaa
no sleep gaming
just for the 3080
goddamn ok
just go to whatever city its in and get a hotel room, then go there at midnight and wait ez

...
@storm goblet so what do you want to do with your pc and what budget?
well looking around 550, just moderate gaming and binging
Right well while the 3400g is a decent apu it's quite overpriced
i got an antec nx400 case
unfortunately no
Also what do you consider moderate gaming? Like what types of games?
maybe either cod, or overwatch, stuff not so big but not so small
maybe just a few other low demanding games
honestly im down to try either intel or amd
just trying to avoid gpu due to the fact shortage rose the prices
Also the 3400g being that price is ew as it's way more than it's worth
Yeah, i mean the 3400g has the best integrated gpu atm and even still it's not gonna be anywhere near as good as a 150$ used gpu off of ebay or something but that's kinda hard to find so very understandable, lemme see what i can do
ok thank you
Okay sorry for delay but https://pcpartpicker.com/list/rBX82V
oh its fine
The graphics might be slightly worse but the 3400g is 2x it's original pricing just doesn't seem right paying that much
meaning ill be able to use 1080p right
You can also swap the cooler for a vetroo v5 or an id cooling se 224xt if you want
oh alr
Probs 1080p 45-60fps i guess depending on game
ig thats pretty good
But 3400g would probs be about the same
yeah, ill use it til shortage is out
Cool
ty
what is the best budget mother board for gaming and streaming
looking to build my first pc and i want to make sure i do it right
@inland linden try smth like this, the main thing is the GPU, not a lot of stock anywhere, 800cad is just an estimate of what you can get it at, if it's too expensive, try 3060ti.
https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/list/Fh4zLP
wack
CPU is 3 years old
motherboard same issue
crappi GPU
and paying a bit too much on other bits
Ram is overpriced
ok thanks i dont know much so that is really helpfull
Sure 9700k might have more cores, but 11400 is newer and with HT
https://www.cpubenchmark.net/compare/Intel-i7-9700K-vs-Intel-i5-11400F/3335vs4226
So, I'd take 11400 over 9700k
and the 11400 is cheaper
HT?
anyways, look at the ca.pcpartpicker.com list I gave you
hyperthreading
Intel calls it SMT or whatever
ok i will replace my list with yours
just take care with the GPU in my list
GPU situation is very wacky
but any 30xx GPU will slap a 1050ti
and 11400 has an iGPU you could theoretically use for a while until you find a decent GPU
r/hws will likely be your friend
for comparing random GPUs, good utility:
https://www.videocardbenchmark.net/singleCompare.php
Hey guys what’s up with intel
Like the new gen
Haven’t been able to track there benchmarks
5900x are in stock for MSRP
@stoic island does the case play a major role?
Yes and no, you want as much airflow as possible which will keep your temps lower though
i like the cases with a glass display what do you recommend
Yes
A corsair 4000d airlfow
Although the one mr1111 put has a glass panel
ok thanks everyone appreciate y'all for putting up with my noobie questions
Well, I thought I'd locked into a decent sub 300 dollar board in the x570 taichi or strix now I'm second guessing again cuz weirdly the former may not work with the ram on its way -_-;; wonder how the heck a board can work with 3200 or 4000 ram but not 3600?
Although maybe basing my mobo off ram I won in a giveaway that I haven't even received yet is a dumb idea
It can dw, also what cpu are you using and why would you go x570 instead of b550?
Does anybody know any scalpers in ontario canada
✨ebay✨
Guys what’s a really good gpu for now
Like not that expensive
Cause I’ll will wait till the 39 series come In Stock
30
None
If it supports 4000, it should support 3600
What's your definition of not that expensive? Also anything you will buy that's not 3000 or rx 6000 will have to be used from ebay or something
I know it won't make much difference but I want thje extra PCI lanes, and the price doesn't strike me as that much difference.
Yeah I'm just confused crucial doesn't seem to think so.
Yeah I think crucial didn't bother to test it or something
seems like whatever board I look at, someone praises and someone craps on, only "ultimate" boards are like 500-1000
only other issue with the taichi is apperantly the vrm fan curve is odd and may get loud
X570 is honestly overkill tho but yeah, it'll work
If you're worried about VRM, B550 did better in that department. X570 was a learning curve
Main thing, and I admit I'm not clear on this, I want the vid card and two m.2's to be max possible speed. My understanding is b550's will have 2 of the three but one slower m.2. I understand in practice I likely won't even notice. But I'm kinda future proofing a tad.
X570 for gen 4 speeds both m.2s then
That's literally one of two differences between B550/X570
You won't notice the difference between gen 3 and 4 drives TBH
Only your wallet will
XD
Even then you won't
Depends on application
Sequential reads and writes are real world performance, most Gen 4 drives have the same as Gen 3. Actually needing a Gen 4 drive is a rather niche case
I want that 2 sec start up
oh my god i just realized how TINY itx is holy
it's more of a 2 years from now thing.
Look into 8L SFF
Even smaller
Even 2 years from now it won't matter much
You'll still have the same CPU, etc to process that data. Loading times, etc, will still rely on other components that won't be upgraded
you might as well use htpc at that point
AM4 is end of life, next generation CPU's have a different socket
I wonder if they're going straight to AM5 or AM4+
Yea that's what I thought, there's been mixed rumors
Well, AMD themselves said AM5 so I'm running with that
guys is this enough thermal paste i'm kinda worried i didn't put enough
idk, i think you need a bit more
until you can't get into bios because system boots too quickly
Oh lol
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/xTrFLP anything you'd change?
Currently at 3.8s, I can deal with it
Or something near that, haven't timed it correctly
technically at this point I've ordered everything but the cooler and mobo
it's a reused part, and I'm not sure I chose the right one. I'll be buying another, any suggestions?
basically I bought a cheap add in card for m.2 off wish and plugged the cheapest m.2 in it... still loads faster than any other drive in my system.
I was planning to keep apps/os on it, but get another for games/cache
the hitachi is also a re-used, obv for the steam library/projects
hmm that m.2 is cheap straight from wd
yeah that's what i thought too
lol
5950x is more of a workstation CPU
For people who need many fast cores but do not want to pay for HEDT
Or for people who don't need all of the PCIe lanes
yeah, I'd take a 5950 for some of my dev work but it'd be overkill 95% of the time
partly why I stepped down to the 5900x which is still probably overkill
some production software is better about using all the cores, and having sooooo maaaaany is nice. But arguably few cores with higher mhz is better most the time
@worn wave what do he man by pcie lanes
hardware and whatnot gets accessed by pcie lanes, more lanes, more+faster access... an oversimplifcation...
in every cpu there's a limited amount of pcie lanes that the mobo can use, pcie gen 4 ssds take up 4 lanes and 16x slots take up 16 lanes, etc etc
I M using this pc for gaming
So I would get 5900x
And I think it has 3 pcie lanes right
nah, you'd be just fine with a 5800x or 5600x even
yes, iirc the 5000 series has 24 pcie lanes
just get Gen 3 drives unless you're doing rendering or something
Ok
j
i just wanna get a 5600x but can't find any in stooock dude
my mc has like 25+ :\
5900/5950x are much harder to get
is there a way to know when 30 series graphics cards restock
I had to punch 4 people for my 5900x
Stock servers or some websites have alert systems
thank you
you can get on a waiting list with shopblt.com but it'll take fooooorever
right, now i just need to find a 3070 at a reasonable price and my build should be fine
i just want a 2060, 1080, or a 30 series
Whats the best intel chip to pair with the 3080 without breaking the bank?
11500/11600
i5 would be fine with 3080?
You're not doing 1080p yeah?
my bios time is 6.7
hmm, Gigabyte X570 Aorus Elite AM4 ATX AMD Motherboard how does one feel about this board... I could save 150 😮
no, trying to decide what to get for my 5900x
?
i got a x570 tomahawk for my 5900x just some input
i like the bios navigatio of the msi/asus options vs gig, i got a b550i pro ax as well
i hate the look of the waterblock though
Corsairs AIO's are meh cooling performance
ek-aio basic does exist
depends on your chassis i guess if your using a prior build in that regard too
Yea the plan is 1080p, possibly 2k in the future
A 308 0for 1080p?
CPU will be your slow point for high FPS then
:/
i got the arctic 280mm from newegg IMO 1 plug solution, and im runnig p14s push pull
i dont like running i cue, razer, or cam period
and gigabyte rgb suite is pretty sus
ive heard cam sucks but ive never used it
NZXT cam is terrible
rgb fuzio
I'm guessing you want high FPS Esports type gaming yeah?
I was thinking i7 range, i just dont want to spend $450+ on some state of the art i9
wondering if i should get the 3080 and upgrade to 4k down the line
You're going for high FPS esports gaming yeah?
Yes thats the goal
its ironic how amd uses 130w tdp in warzone per ex across 12-16c. Yields equitable fps...but then you got intel at 200+w and the need for a 850w psu+ with quality 12v rails
You'll need a beefy CPU then, high FPS 1080p leans on CPU more than GPU
Alright so what would you recommend for high fps gaming 1080p for now, mid range for 2k in future?
more or less, an important aspect is.....how long can you get out of a 5+ghz 6c intel on z490 or z590. B4 you play "other games" in general games outside of fps twitch shooters in a vast game library....
5800x/5900x/3060TI/3070
bc the OC 6c intels also use the most wattage per core period
Doesn't mean you need an 850W PSU to feed them
so if youre using a previously used psu with a 3080 and are jumping to a 10th+gen intel....IJS the degredation aspects of 12v rails
pending psu quality
Not necessarily
I mean CPU wise
5800x/5900x for the single core IPC
Unless you already have an Intel board and need an Intel CPU
like 5900x and my 3070 strix has my psu at lower temp/efficiency just bc i got a size larger than i needed granted at more cost...its a "long run" aspect for upgrading to a bigger gpu or etc if it looses 50-100w on 12v over 5 years
perhaps intel lga 1700 or am5
but 11400f has velocity boost for some nice value proposition builds
I don’t yet, just gauging my options at the moment.
For high FPS 1080p gaming, I'd recommend AMD over Intel for IPC and performance
Since it leans on CPU rather than GPU
If it was 1440p or 4K, it wouldn't be an issue.
Considering some cards on the market and came across "blower" style gpus. Curious design. Would any of you folks consider this viable? reliable? RTX 2080 btw
it depends on the specific games fps wise like cs:go certain others still heavily favor intel and with a z series mobo the 11400f still hits 5ghz+ on single-2c. for its price point amd cannot come close at 160$
Not for hte current pricing
and it leads to more budget for gpu bearing all other components are the same ram/ssd psu etc
or even a nicer monitor
It'd be a used. Dude's selling it for $900 negotiable. I just want a build
No
GASP
Way too much
Yeah? Thought so too
What choice is there tho? Raffle for a chance? How viable is that
only blowers that work these days are the new big navi cards
the 2080 fe barely worked as is
Yeah it was new(er) wasn't it?
Or a best buy drop
How would I even find myself in that golden opportunity?
Stop thinking of money in terms of money, think of it as hours of your life. How many hours are you overpaying for that GPU?
Fair point
its true i mean i have the money but i wont over pay
^
ironically once things settle next gen will be soon to launch
with equally met scarcity
and 3000 will be discontinued
hopefully by then the rdna2 onboard apus can manage 300+fps in cs:go at 720p
Is there secret access to finding out when these drops will happen/occur? In the market for an MSRP GPU 😂
Just saying, 2080 is worth like 500-600 normally, 700$ if you're desperate and a good model :p
sum miner/buyer/buying discord
@cloud bloom generally, Tuesday, Thursday, or Friday for best buy drops
i wont cross myself with the like
I should say for 3000 series too
Yes
oh?
at like 6am?
(referring to FE ampere GPUs)
or random/itermittant
Generally mid-day
EST?
they dont offer warranties though on GPU huh
8-10 AM PST generally
wat
There's no set day or time, that's why stock watching discords are nice
Also yes they do
@livid canopy specific warranty info per company
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/u/0/d/1kfLWcuVdauptOIAgHc2THuDj2-gvQQLipNmCCx1FaNI/htmlview#gid=0
Oh FE has like 5 year iirc
Lemme find it
Warranty is through nVidia
i guess i bought a 2 year whoopsie plan for mine at MC or my 2nd
Not the seller (Nvidia does warranty, not best buy or micro center)
traded the BB one anyhow
Never buy third party warranties
MC offers it bc if i claim it they can re-sell as refurb
They're garbage
usually you can go "i got a whoopsie plan" and oh woopsie its discontinued and get purchase power back
like 5700xt strix owners that never learned how to disable 0 rpm mode
evga warranty is actually so good
lmao
I believe there has been a drop on both of those days
Monday maybe twice and Wednesday only once
now that the msrp/embargo is raised do you still think its worth buying a 3080 at its current price point
should i wait for the next-er gen for 4k 60+ gaming
considering i got a 3070 FE at msrp, and a 3070 Strix for 650
I’ve tried posting it once but duplicated text
id almost have to sell both just to afford a 3080 ti
3070 strix is 770 I believe
Not worth it if you already have 3070
y i got both at msrp in nov
oct
bt now that the embargo is in place as well as raised msrp its so QQ
i had always planned to trade up to one+cash ofc bt its like double the price of a 3070
@stoic island Wednesday drop not Monday
plus i dont own a cx tv....buying a 4k gpu means nvidia and cx tv
Where's the future drop timeline ? :p
Fun
@cloud bloom they do drops when they get stock and we can't exactly predict that
Now it’s just Thursday Friday tho
yall expect the next nvidia flagship to be a samsung chip LUL
Not time yet
Wait 5 minutes
do the BB drops show availability online? or a certain time of day?
TY all for the pro tips btw
Bb drop usually around 9 am pst
As you can see from the past drop
Cool
On Thursday or Friday
newegg shuffle countdown up - thanks all
Whoa that's trippy, the exact tuf 3060 model I saw at a local shop yesterday is on the shuffle
That thing has such an overbuilt cooler for a midrange model lol
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/GbPZ7X This is my build- is there an equally as good RAM I could use that would save me money (RGB doesn’t matter) and same with the SSD card.
Thanks. Someone else actually recommended that Pilot E is that as good as the one I have now?
@muted patio 3700x
@muted patio to be fair I’m not over clocking any of them hence why we went cheapest but im glad you said my pc my moms is going to be the 10600 and just lots of chrome use
Yeah, B460 limits ram speeds, snag a B560 if you can
Lol
i think revolution d.f. is cheaper
should perform more or less the same
also case?
Just looked at casing. Thinking abt Corsair iCUE 4000X RGB ATX Mid tower case
4000D airflow, the X has a glass front
The x is still fine , there is only 3-4c different between them so if you dont realy care about 3-4c and you want glass front its fine
@muted patio my mom is getting my pny xlr8 2600 ram so motherboard fits criteria and I upgraded to tuff gaming tforce 3000 ram for my ryzens system
Now I just need upgrade graphics card from this old 460:(
For the 3700x? That's awfully slow
Radeon RX 460 or Nvidia GTX 460?
@potent portal gtx 460
@muted patio only game I have is la noir since graphics card is old
Still slow ram for the 3700x, should be around 3600 mhz.
3200 minimum I'd say, but with a gtx 460 it won't matter much. You'll want to get better memory ASAP though.
im looking for a decent priced dual hdmi graphics card i dont need anything more then a 2080 ram is later
2060/70/80 have all been discontinued, used is the only choice and those are overpriced
Better off going for a new 3060 or something
once the shortage is over we will see what the prices are but im only playing la noir as of now my 460 would be fine but my friend is possibly going to buy it
i am not trying to argue im honestly trying to see what benefit would i get from upgrading both ram and graphics card to max spec for a system just playing la noir and surfing internet and ripping my dvds to my plex server
I left the pc building/gaming world for like 10 years, end of 2020 was not the best time to decide to come back 😛
3600 is far from the max for Ryzen, it's more of an "ideal" point
it's not fro playing La Noir now, it's for playing better things later lol
Just like your GPU
Depending on what program you're using ripping DVDs could even be faster with faster memory/gpu
makemkv and dvdfab at the same time
Those would certainly benefit from fast memory
And if I'm not mistaken makemkv has GPU acceleration options
well i guess ill see what difference i get from 2600 to 3000 for now and hopefully part shortage will get better what ram exactly do you recommend and are you sure myx570 can handle it i got mixed answers when intially building my system
Your X570 will hand 4000+ mhz ram
Ryzen 3000 RAM frequency, latency, uclock, mclock, and fclock matter more than anything else for the R9 3900X, 3700X, and 3600. We're looking for the best RAM for Ryzen.

There's extremely noticeable differences even going from 3200 to 3600
@potent portal you think ill notice a difference from 2600 to 3000
to be fair my intial system was a pentium g620 so everything is already way better
Yes, that means the Infinity Fabric (which is directly related to CPU performance) is going from 1300 to 1500 MHz, a 10% performance difference is possible there
its a start then and when this crazy parts market balnces maybe then i can go with those trident z or something i am bad at cable mangement so switching everything to tuff gaming helps appearence a little better hahahaha
Yeah it's not something that will make much difference until you upgrade later anyway, but video conversion times will be helped with faster memory so keep that in mind. 2600 memory will keep that processor from nearing its potential.
@potent portal that pny xlr8 is going to my moms 10600k i upgraded to tforce tuff 3000
Looks like you'd benefit from a better case too, that would seriously help make cable management easier
not many good cases with 5.25 bay anymore the lian li case does help keep things cool always cold to the touch good ol brushed aluminum
just wish they didnt use clip in motherboard stand offs since no one sells replacements
there's the mx330g-air as well for cheap
Also Metallic Gear, made by Phanteks but cheap
Does the metallic gear have a 5.25 bay though?
Doesnt look like Metallic Gear has 5.25 drive bays
props to you all for not being angry over me keeping disc drive i have gotten a lot of slack for that
That's a totally valid need, even today. Some people are just stubborn.
only thing yall said that im really not sure of is top of the line graphics card that would really hurt financially i would need to also upgrade my 750 watt power supply but its also not a good time to buy so i need to wait for market to return antways :/
they say what 1000 watt minimum for a 3000 series card
who says that
Cuz it's crap
750W will do 3070 EZPZ
Maybe even 3080 depending on the brand and model
i belive i saw it on a linus tech tips video but i could be wrong
A 3060 would be perfectly happy on a 650W
I think something was misunderstood
3060 could get away with 550W TBH
3060TI needs a bit more
If you're referring to when they were talking about the super high transient power spikes, driver updates have helped with that
850w is handling my 3090 just fine, so i'd imagine 750 could handle most other 30 series cards. definitely don't need 1000
anyone able to verify i can display to 2 hdmi ports on the 3070?
Yes. My 3060 has 2 hdmi and 3 displayport even. Double check each model though, sometimes they change it.
No but get a Displayport to HDMI cable
3070's have only 1 HDMI for the most part
and 4 DP
Or 3 DP
But HDMI to DP cable is like, $10
So don't worry about HDMI ports at all for the most part
Official 3070 spec
Interesting, most, if not all, of the ones I've seen only have 1
Like I said, each vendor is totally able to change it
yall would really hate to hear this but in case you havnt noticed a lot of my setup is free hand me downs the case the graphics card so my monitors are an amazing 42inch smart tv (1080p comparted to my old 720 20 inch mind is blown) and a 32 inch tv all free
Still, conversion cables are cheap
Yeah, especially if it's just digital-digital like dp-hdmi
if i can convert 1 dp to hdmi to display my 2 monitor setup then i will wait for market to stabalize how much is a 3070 suppose to cost before scalpers jacked price?
Here's the modified spec of my 3060 model
I still find it hilarious that they tried to put the 12 pin adapter on such a low power card
so what is the price suppose to be? and it should come with a coverter from 6 pin to 8 pin? the 460 uses 2 6 pins
Yo udon't want to use converter cables like that. For example, 6 pin is good for 125 watts while 8 pin is good for 200
Converting a lower capacity connector to a higher capacity one can lead to issues
ill have to check my box for power supply later then corsair hopefully considered that
Im' sure they did
Most 6 pin cables have the two extra pins already on them
just tucked out of the way
Most everything includes at least one 8 pin these days
i guess im stuck waiting for the 3070 or 3060 to sell for a proper price
then maybe ram and or case these darn disc drive cables hahahaha
Gonna be waiting an extremely long time
You can get a 3070 for 600
hey sorry if im bothering yall but will my 460 be enough for my friend to run flight simulator 2020, gta v, and minecraft?
Mmmm, no
Well, the other two yes
minecraft maybe not
FS 2020 no yeah
it's a radeon card
msi gtx 460
oh
