WHAT
Yeah idk Phanteks build quality is great but their rgb instructions make me want to commit unalive
Oh right
The front panel has the controls
So I think the top front is actually the controller
Yeah and they work
I was able to switch the color and mode of the rgb
But there was still no rgb to the fans ;-;
do you see a sata cable sticking out of the top front
Wait, what's connected to that?
Is there a vc i can join so i can just stream this
And yea it should be connected with sata power, but if it's already working.. maybe might just need to daisy chain
the manual is really bad lol
Reason: Bad word usage
unfortunately i have not used this case before so i dunno how the controller works
Yeah I plugged the sata boi into my PSU sata and that’s what got the DRGB or whatever to work
But it didnt turn on the rgb in my fans
What about rgb wise, how is it connected?
the fans must just not be plugged in
They arent
Controller - working fan - not working - not working?
I dont know where to plug them in
@fast wagon try daisy chaining the argb fans
take a pic of all of the cables coming out of the top front of the case
Okay
maybe there is an argb male connector coming out of it
Oh there is
might have a rubber/plastic protector on it
yeah plug your fans into that then
you said you daisy chained them
My fans are male connectors
is there a female connector
Hold on
there should be 3 male 3 female
so you should be plugging in 3 males into 2 females and using the last female to the controller
wait
am i being dumb
controller male > female of fan 1
male of fan 1 > female of fan 2
male of fan 2 > female of fan 3
male of fan 3 unused
yeah there
then they should all work
yes that is a female connector at the end
so you can plug that into the controller's male connector
and it should be good
didn't work?
I’ll try turning it on again
wait that is labelled motherboard drgb 3 pin
might not be the right one since you're not using motherboard sync
Nope, doesnt work and now the rgb is off as well that was working previously
that cable is meant for connecting it to the motherboard
And my motherboard doesn’t have that header
look for a different male connector from the top front that doesn't say mobo
Plug it in where though)?
The female connector I just tried was the one that didn’t work
to the female connector from the fans daisy chains
yeah but this is a different male connector
That female connector isn’t from the fan daisy chains
No its the same one lol
There’s only one
do you not have a "hub" for the RGB wires in the back?
.
Okay
The controller male does not fit into female of fan #1
it has holes in it
the discord explicit filter is terrible
prevented me from sending a meme featuring a fully clothed person in my own server 😔
he had long sleeves and jeans too smh
ohhh it's the phanteks proprietary stuff
Thats the female connector on fan #1
yuck
if only the phanteks manual wasn't so bad
I currently have an MSI B350 Pro-VDH motherboard. It can only handle 2666Mhz on ram. If I upgrade to an Asus Z390 Pro Gaming motherboard and buy better ram what kind of improvement would I see in FPS? Or would I even see a change. I have a 1070Ti gpu.
what is your cpu
and what games are you playing at what resolution
faster system ram mostly helps when you are not gpu bottlenecked
so if you are playing esports/less graphically demanding games you will see a larger improvement than if you are playing metro exodus rtx on
i7-8700 and I play WoW and Valheim currently. Looking at possibly getting back into the Assassin's Creed series.
Hi, I need help getting a KVM setup for my personal and work laptops.
I have 2 apple monitors (both are mini display)
I have a new macbook pro (4 usb-c ports) and a lenovo yoga (2 usb-c and 2 standard usb ports)
Can you recommend a cost effective setup that would allow me to use both computers with my current monitors?
i would consider selling the cpu/mobo/ram as a bundle and going i5-10400 or so with b560 mobo
may be more cost effective and get you on a newer platform
since z390 is EOL already
it may also be easier to sell as a bundle
you could keep your old cooler or you could sell it with the bundle
this would do great
you could also pay a little extra for i5-11400 instead of i5-10400 if you want 11th gen
the difference is not that much but it may help for WoW since it has better single core
maybe raids will run more smoothly lol
also @plucky mango sorry i'm not ignoring you i just have no idea about your question i'm a desktop person
Man, I'm glad I nabbed my parts when I did. It sounds like it's going to be even more a nightmare shortly to try and build a PC.
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/BPgfZZ the two gpus are an or based on the shuffle
also the 6800 xt in the shuffle could sub in
@earnest olive now it doesn’t post lol
And there’s no light indicator on the mb to tell me what the problem is
oof
Nope reseated ram with 2/4 sticks and it boots
Im just waiting for the future ai to be able to tell me what exactly it is I’m doing wrong
So I don’t have to spend so long guessing lol
What cooler is that?
It was oos on amazon when I ordered
at least before taxes
That’s not hard with an 11400
iK
I'd recommend just a pilot e or sn550 or something instead for the ssd btw
Y’all know which is better? The 11500 or 3400g
Both in terms of igpu and cpu power
And is 11500 worth 50 cad more
I totally didn’t know that the 3400g was so good and got the 11500 and just realized
Actually it’s like 80 dollars more since I got a separate cooler
3400g has the better igpu iirc but I'd recommend the 11500
New Ryzen APUs are coming soon that will be faster with better iGPU
3400g as a cpu is actually relatively terrible, it just has a great iGPU
Oh ok how come?
Lol oof I just started building my pc
The CPU is Zen+
And prob gonna use igpu for a while
Even though 3xxx suggests it's Zen 2
pp
The 3400g would be better?
With no GPU, yes, once you put a GPU in there, 11500 slaps it
I saw it was OEM only until later though?
Eh
That’s good to hear
I5 gomma be worse short term but better once you get gpu yes
But it’s gonna be worse for a while since gpu so hard to get lol
I'd rather do that tbh
How easy is it to break the i5s pins?
Intels pins are on the mobo
You know what people will do though. They buy the PC for the GPU and strip and sell the other parts 😂
Just be a bit careful and you'll be g
The default cooler?
Yea
I wouldn't throw away just incase
Was wondering why the box was so big lol didn’t realize it had cooler inside
But get a gammaxx 400, id cooling se 224xt or vetroo v5 for it
Yeah. Keep it as a backup, but it would struggle with the stock settings.
Yea I got a 400
I mean, I'm assuming same situation as 4000 APUs
Yeah or incase you need to rma
Ok but i got a separate cooler so I should be good
Btw which gpu do y’all think is easiest to get?
Yes but i wouldn't throw away the default cooler just incase you need to return or want to sell 2nd hand or incase the other one fails
Yep
Shuffle is completely luck based
Chances would bd product/people entered for that product
Yea ik but how many people usually enter, for example the 3060
The kinda lower end
Ones
They haven't released any info on specifics for anything
That information is not available
Methods for what?
anything that they can afford they are probs entering
Refresh after first tag of the yellow button and it resets you
Oh
So shuffle basically only way to get gpu
Other than second hand
Or some sort of automation
Your best option is a local store, I'd call shuffle a distant second
best buy drop and fantastic luck
zotac and bestbuy are best sites to buy a card imo
but zotac you have to get lucky with connections
zotac
Yea I was thinking that but there really aren’t any in Canada
Open box Zotac hasn't existed in like a year
How difficult is it lol
Do u have to set up a notification thing
You need to be faster than the bots hitting the yellow button, then you have to hit it again after a delay
Welp so basically impossible
shuffle is us only too
Since how can u be faster than a bot
And then checkout in seconds as well since being in your cart is not a reservation
ahh
Ugh current market
Ba
Bs
Any good notification sites u guys recommend?
Now in stock kinda works but idk why but the noti is delayed
Google a stock drop Discord, we can't link other channels here
you could always try evga when the 3080 ti comes out they drop once iirc
Oh yea lol
Prob depending on your power situation
That should be fine
check the model, either through the receipt, box or label on the psu
w1? br?
Don't be putting a 3080 on a 650W PSU
I mean, really should check the model but go for it
tbh my 3070 runs on an 600w evga w1 but wouldnt reccomend
3060 should work on 550 right
11500
Yea ik lemme go check
Lol it’s a cx
SHoul dbe fine
revolution df 850w
And what r the differences
Revolution d.f. 850w
Oh how much is it?
120-130$
I’m not gonna get it but might consider down the line
Woah that’s actually not too bad
Mine was 90 cad
550w cx
Cx decent
TXm, the modern one, great, tx, the like 7 years old one, bad
try get at least a 600w tbh
Yea ik but couldn’t find one that looks reliable
And mine was pretty good price, plus I’m not gonna go hard core
3060 prob my max gpu
Maybe more down the line but rn yk
Didn’t vintageracer say 550 was enough?
550W is recommended
should be anyway
But aren’t those all over estimated
Not really
And I only have 11500
Why do people always skimp on the power?
ohh somewhere said 550w min
Like, that's what makes everything work
Lol
Literally
Don’t get how a gpu only needs 300w and needs 600 in total
No way
$1000 CPU but cry about $100 PSU
they take into account a 100w tdp or so processor tho
People think "oh Dell only puts a 330W power supply in their PCs, 400 should be more than enough"
Oh yea but how come?
Power transients are a thing
65W Intel CPU can pull 200W
These are why
Yea
TDP is irrelevant
MY LIFE IS A LIEEEE
yeah
Oh ok
May add up
What about locked cpus
Also, it's not good to run a PSU at 100%
Yea it’s suggested at 80?
They can still pull well over TDP
@muted patio unless it's a good psu, then it can pull overload without much issues
still, rule of thumb @stoic island, dont go over if you dont absolutely are forced to
Of course
Because good PSUs can pull overload, I use power draw testing directly
(without accounting too much for spikes)
Since spikes can be dealt with assuming ocp not wack
aye aye
Because the "not good to run at 100%" bit is usually what makes people buy PSUs rated for 1.5x what they're actually pulling :(
Ya, it's in-between
less if possible
So use the actual rating on the PSU, trust the manufacturer for once xD
it runs on a curve
What
yeah
unless you are dealing with some really sketchy models
Ofc
and/or really old models
but i mean its no harm to run less than 80 means less likely for psu fan to ramp up to i think
i vaguely seem to remember HardOCP having a psu on their test bench that had a triple peak on the efficiency curve
or something equally silly
the conclusion was something along the lines of: Set it on fire IF you have bought it
Efficiency curve of the CWT GPU, which revo d.f. is built off of
I know crappy image but eh
Nice
anyone know what would cause this fan to blink red like this when the pc is in off state?
mobo is the proper shade of pink and the fan in question works properly when pc is on
yeah that makes sense but what causes that? is it just the mobo's fault
RGB tech isn't perfect. I'd say the motherboard yeah.
could it be because case fans are daisy chained off of it? the case fans don't light up at all when it's off
the LEDs pull power from the 3 or 4 pin connector, im sure theres enough power present on the header to light up the LEDs
Even when it's off though?
the board isnt off, theres power running through it
it could be a board issue, where theres power leakage where there shouldnt be
We were told it's off
or just a quirk of the board
happens in both off and sleep
Which is why I think it's a power issue with the board
or the fan could do this in every system and its just defective or poorly designed
my own pc has the option to keep rgb on while pc is off and it has no trouble powering all 8 fans
My Corsair fans default to green
even though the fans are using splitters through 2 headers
When off
this pc has 2 case fans daisy chained off of the cpu fan's argb connector
the case fans don't light up when pc is off
is there a second one of these fans, and is it plugged into the board the same way as the problematic one?
no this is the cpu fan so don't have another
try it in a different board maybe
it all works perfectly fine when on
don't have another board to test
not particularly interested in taking apart gf's pc while she needs it lol
it's not a huge problem just wondering why it's happening/if i did something wrong
don't have one
really?
your a techie/mod assist here who builds computers and really smort
I'd just call it an RGB quirk, it seems wasteful to me to have it in a C state instead of off to me
I have 3 lol
order one now lmao
i've never needed a multimeter for a pc build
i use em all the time for working with PSUs
and for poking around funny issues such as these
Why 3 lol?
bc you lose one, buy another, then find it again lmao
Fair lol
would it possibly have anything to do with the daisy chains? i kinda don't think so cause my board has no trouble with that
no
One for my car, one for small jobs I don't need exact measurements for, and one that is precise to 4 decimal places
unless they end up in a powered fan hub, or something else thats not a fan header
Don't see why the daisy chaining would be a problem
no all of them are connected to mobo 5v argb
Didn't you say 2 argb headers though?
pwm, argb female, argb male
i connected the argb female of the cpu fan to the mobo
and then daisy chained the case fans off of the argb male
i saw enermax, and just assumed the LEDs were powered off the fan header lmao
it's argb not red led
If you've got all 4 daisy chained on one header you might want to get a powered hub, usually 3 is the soft limit
there's actually occasionally a light green flash alongside the red flashes which makes me think it's trying to do pink
since pink is deep red + a little bit of green and blue
in terms of rgb mixing
but yeah all the lighting works fine when the pc is on
all i can say for sure is that there is some rogue power while the system is in the off state, and its coming from somewhere
iirc i have 2 case fans daisy chained to the cpu header and then one case fan connected to its own header
could be a board design flaw, who knows
but the case fan connected to its own header also has no light
well the board is supposed to support lighting on while board is off
so it could be overdrawing power off the ARGB header maybe but i doubt it
If it's 2 separate headers power isn't the problem, and it's probably just a quirk with the board
overdraw? it seems like underdraw
well, overdraw from the perspective of the board, as in the board might not be in a state to supply that much power
Perhaps the board isn't able to give the full 1A in the "off" C state
for some reason
poking around in bios rn cause she started painting lol
Maybe you could try doing 2 fans on each RGB header instead of 3 and 1? Then the header doesn't need to give as much juice
well the case fan that has its own header is still completely dark in off state
i disconnected the daisy chained fans and same thing
as an experiment i tried daisy chaining the cpu fan to one of the case fans and connecting case fan to mobo directly
same thing
so maybe just a quirk of this fan
should I get a prebuilt rn
Pretty good idea tbh
*If the price is right
Yes ofc ^
Hey guys. Im new to this kind of stuff and i was wondering if anyone could help me. I need to see if my storage is compatible with all my other stuff and if not what should I get instead to make compatible?
thanks
Wait, did the nzxt starter pc build price go up?
Yes, due to the GPU shortage
The shortage has very little to do with miners tbh
It's primarily a huge spike in demand because everyone is working from home and needs new PCs
Pair that with the new gen of GPUs being WAY better than many previous generational gaps, which is another factor in the demand spike
Miners have only gotten between 5-10% of the stock of GPUs according to many estimates
I'm probably going to do my build this weekend. I have stuff I need to do during the week.
Nice! It's about time, but it pays to be patient
10-20 series was a much wider performance gap tho wasn't it
1080 non ti about the same as a 2060 Super
LOL no
Not even close
Besides, the super was more of an afterthought after Nvidia saw AMD creeping up
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
It's like a 20% difference between the 1080 ti and 2060 super https://www.gpucheck.com/compare/nvidia-geforce-rtx-2060-super-vs-nvidia-geforce-gtx-1080-ti/intel-core-i7-8700k-3-70ghz-vs-intel-core-i7-7700k-4-20ghz/
Especially at high resolution
Oh wait you said NON ti, that's what I get for skimming...
Yeah those ones are pretty comparable you're right about that
Non super 2060 is pretty similar too
Below 1080 non ti but not far below
That's a huge improvement from 10-20
Going from 2060S to 3060 ti is more of a jump than that though
1060 gang where you at?
3060 ti is roughly a 2080 (not super)
Tru
JuSt OvErClOcK yOuR 2060 tO mAtCh A 3090
GeForce 210 beats 2060 😤
you gotta consider that the 1650 and 1660 exist, 2060 msrp is almost as high as 1070 msrp
1660 is a closer competitor to the 1060
with a much tamer performance jump
4712 from the 1060, 5822 from the 1660, 8094 from the 2060
i've seen 7.1k on 1070
7.1k > 8.1k not a huge jump
right here
nice
i used a 1060 for 5 months as a temporary gpu
do i count?
it was an overclocking champ
got it to 2.2ghz
Laptop 1660ti right here
How does it make sense that a mobile 1660 ti is better performance than a desktop 1060 6GB, but it uses so much less power? I know the technical answer, it's just baffling to me
whats ur build
hi, sorry if this is a very noob question or something, but i'm trying to build my first pc using pc part picker and i realized i don't really now what to look in certain parts
so my question is, how can i tell what are good parts to get? i'm sorry if this doesn't make much sense i don't have much of an idea what i am doing :/
16/20 series was a big improvement
Turing?
Wait what's the architectures called lol
their performance is pretty close and the gtx 1060 doesn't use much power to begin with (120W), but the 1660ti is on tsmc 12nm while 1060 is on tsmc 16nm
10, 20
the node jump is probably a pretty large part of the efficiency bump
Like I said, I know the technical answer, but it's just crazy how fast technology improves
my midrange laptop's gpu solidly beats my first build's 1080ti
the 1080ti took 370W to deliver 10.4k time spy
this 3070M takes 130W to deliver 11.2k
quite a leap
I have a GTX 970, mobile 1650 ti is probably close
Is ryzen master the only way for me to oc my 5600x? Because the installer isn't installing anything and isk what to so
use bios
what workload are you doing that you want to manual oc
Ok not that close lol
manual oc will decrease your gaming performance so only do manual oc if you have a production workload in mind
Not doing anything too crazy I am just doing some video editing and rendering some stuff
ah okay
Figured I'd give it a try
yeah you are good to manual oc then
i just ask cause a lot of people try when they're just gaming
@potent portal
progress
You kinda need to do your own research to see what's good, although someone in here can give you recommendations for parts that are good
Even if it gave u performance I don't think it would help me run 1440p rtx mc without Upscaling
you will be 100% gpu bound in that lol
cries in 3060ti xD
my 3080 is brought to its knees running minecraft rtx with dlss on
i see, thank you
it was very amusing seeing it slammed against the 370W PL to play minecraft of all games
Yeah, I am waiting for next pay check to get a 3080 and sell 3060ti cuz 40fps mc aint it
my 3600X + 3080 did 190 fps at 1440p with rtx on
that was with dlss but i don't think you should only be getting 40 fps without dlss
Rip
i see a 3060ti doing 60 fps at 4k ultra rtx + dlss
Also congrats on 1st dose kek
That sounds about right if I turn on dlss I get 90-120
Yep, just "Upscaling"
wonder what native is when turning it on at 4k
Has to be like 1080
i don't actually own minecraft or i'd do some more testing
i had a customer that wanted me to install minecraft on their pc for them
so i used their microsoft account to test rtx minecraft on my own pc
lol
wonder how my 3070M would do
Big brain
it's weaker than a desktop 3060ti
I told my ps4 friends to try it lol
and i have it hooked up to my 1440p165 monitor right now
Oh wait u cant
usually if i'm on my laptop it means i'm somewhere where i don't have a ton of time for single player gaming lol
Laptop id imagine would be good for travel or LAN party type things
This is why you need mini itx tower
Kek no
i am not going to shove my 3080 into a mini itx case
too big
this is my temporary setup
I’m considering building a mini itx rig with 11500 and putting a cheap card in later for travel
it's alright
laptop is pretty powerful not really missing my pc that much
i got it for "free"
laughs in uhd620
Wait
filed it as an education expense
yeah... i definitely need a 3070 laptop for school

College paying?
so looking at desktop 3060ti benchmark
Hmm can high schoolers get education expenses jk lol
the desktop 3060ti gets 11.9k in time spy graphics score
and my laptop 3070 gets 11.1k
Ooh
so it's not that far off
the laptop's cpu is slightly better than a desktop i5-10400
Same
still comet lake 6c/12t but with higher boost
sustains 4.3ghz all core and boosts up to 5ghz sometimes
@earnest olive you will be happy to know I got a i5 11400 instead of a r5 5600x
Ew
while i5-10400 sustains 4ghz all core with 4.3ghz max boost
5ghz on a laptop processor wait
good job
lol
yeah i've only actually seen it hit 5ghz once though
usually it doesn't boost higher than 4.7
Some bad binned 10600ks struggling to get 5ghz oc
5600x better, cuz u gotta root for the underdog
True
well it's actually possible to use laptop cpu in desktop mobo
aliexpress engineers figured it out
5ghz on laptop is sexy
they also took it a step further and put 9th gen laptop cpu in 7th gen desktop mobo
Dam
Yeah that's pog
and this is the overclockable laptop chip so with good cooler you could make it match a 9900K
Idk y but it reminds me of a project car
gotta love aliexpress engineers
they actually got their modded laptop chip to 5ghz on 8c/16t lol
the madmen beat a 9900K
on a mobo that only supports up to a 7700K
and the cpu only costs $182
very very impressive
lol
the reviews are all in really broken english and posted by russians
My favorite cpu, Intel 0000
not sure if google translate or bought a click farm
yeah that happens because it's an engineering sample
kind of impressive that cpu-z detects the original laptop socket (BGA1440)
i9-9980HK
Wild
i wouldn't actually buy this product or recommend buying it
cause you gotta do stuff like custom bios to get it to run
and maybe pin mod your socket as well
Lol yeah no way xd
but it's a cool feat of engineering
could be an interesting way to breath new life into an older Z170 board though
or Z270
Is @potent portal here o3o?
some of the z270 boards have pretty overbuilt vrms that can handle a 9900k but are locked to 7th gen
he was earlier, not anymore
why?
Wanted him to help me with my pcpartpicker build he helped me with a few weeks ago
link it
I decided I wanted to get a full tower for my build mkay
I was saying mkay when you said link it.
do you have to go ryzen
as a 5600x owner it's really not worth it over i5-11400
hence my name
and especially not at the $390 price tag in this list
i regret even paying $300 for it
So it's cheaper?
yeah practically identical performance but for like $180
Oh right i-5 that's intel right?
you will need to get a cooler for it
but the 5600x won't run well on stock cooler anyways
Yeah not doing a cooler
Not into the liquid cooling stuff
I'm mainly interested in a full tower that will go well with rgb
did you specifically want your ram to be red
because the black version of the exact same ram is like 20 cents more
and if you're doing rgb black is a lot better than red
the black rgb version of the same ram is another $16
also going intel will not stop you from going rgb
you can grab a cheap rgb tower cooler for the cpu
A full tower?
...yes, you can go intel in a full tower
atx standard has been around for like 30 years
Well my cruddy laptop is intel so I might stick with intel anyway
brand is irrelevant just buy good product for price
good product for price currently happens to be i5-11400
Though when I see i5 I see i7, and i9, and feel like is i5 that good o3o?
this cpu cooler costs only $25 and will do a much better job of cooling than that crappy amd stock cooler
i3 is good
That looks pretty nice honestly
i3/i5/i7/i9 doesn't matter
look at individual product
i3-10105 beats i7-4790 and matches i7-6700
10105?
i5-11400 beats i7-8700 and imo beats i7-9700 too
Didn't know that was a sku
yeah they made a comet lake refresh for the 11th gen "i3s"
there are no real 11th gen i3s
just 10th gen clocked 100mhz higher and put a 5 on the end of the sku name
Neat
hmm well uhh where do I find that cooler on pcpartpicker?
i am changing your part list for you
K thanks
I plan on buying parts from cheapest to highest starting next month
All the way to october
strongly recommend against doing that
find gpu first due to shortage
buy everything else at once even if you need to wait a while to save up enough money
you don't want to hold onto a mobo for 5 months to finally build and find out it's defective and past return window
mobo?
motherboard
Don't really have the funds to buy a gpu right now, and wanted to build a pc in time when pso2:ngs comes out.
So I can play with friends.
how graphically intensive is it
perhaps you can get an i5-11500 first for the upgraded integrated graphics and play it on the integrated graphics
while you wait for gpu
that's another advantage of intel, having integrated graphics in midrange-high end cpus
amd only puts integrated graphics in low end cpus
oh that is not intensive at all
should be playable on the integrated graphics of the i5-11500, albeit not perfectly
but it will still be playable while you save up for GPU
I like being able to play it without lag, and issues.
Kind of tired of this stuff as I've been playing on laptops for most of my life
what are the specs of your current laptop
intel upgraded their integrated graphics pretty substantially this gen
can actually do some decent light gaming on it
it's still not amazing but it's a lot better
you'll be able to get your pc up and running before you can afford the gpu and then just slot in upgrade later
hmm going to assume that a laptop with a 7100u has no dedicated graphics
so the integrated graphics of the i5-11500 should be about 3 times stronger than your laptop's graphics
and on the cpu side it will be 6.6 times stronger
Nah
It's minimum
it won't be a perfect experience but it will definitely beat the laptop
the point is that you can get the pc running earlier
and add a gpu later painlessly
and it will still be a substantial upgrade over your laptop before you put in the gpu
Still gonna have to lower settings until you get the gpu
Do all these specs work with a 3060ti gpu?
absolutely
Uhd 750 is good but not 950 good
it's still a massive upgrade lol
Fosho
something is better than nothing
I don't like hearing that sound ominous
to be clear i am not saying the integrated graphics of the 11500 is going to be a beast at gaming
but it will be a lot better than your laptop
and will be nice to have your pc running while you wait for a gpu
I do honestly agree on this
and don't underestimate how long it will take to get a gpu
some people have been searching for one for 7-8 months by now
silicon shortage is brutal
it took me 5 months to buy my 3080
having the integrated graphics of the i5-11500 will be a nice stopgap
Mind helping me pick a full tower as well
the one in this list is fine
unless you want a different one for aesthetic reasons
Uhh I just want a full tower
sure but it's going to cost a LOT more
I know
A irl friend recommended me get one for upgrades in the future as he also did a mid tower, but it bit him in the rear end.
like $160 more
what kind of upgrade needs a full atx tower lol
i slapped a 3080 and a 3070 into the same mid tower
and i also have a monitor inside it
and 8 fans
dunno what more you could need
I just want a full tower
Doesn't matter the cost
With the way gpu prices are this is basically nothing
I am now, for a bit
Heyo
Was hear looking for yah
get an O11 dynamic xl and load it up with your own rgb fans
5000D airflow is a mid tower
Oh right, it's just a massive mid tower 😂
I won't be doing ATX
if you're really stubborn about getting a full tower just grab an O11 and stuff 9 rgb fans in it
No upgrades that I would need to justify
Won't buying the rgb fans seperate would cost more?
well
no not really
considering how quickly the prices of these full towers go up
Yeah the O11 dynamic xl is probably your best choice
i didn't see any with good airflow for below $400 that have preinstalled rgb fans lol
P500a
that's a mid tower
Also, why would that be?
I assume just eATX support but
yeah i have no idea
Mid towers can support eATX too
but he's very set on a full tower
P500a is practically a full tower
Newegg says full tower
i crammed an unreasonable amount of stuff into my mid tower lol
but pwetty
It's just
Why does o11 get called full tower
When p500a doesn't
Both support eATX
Hell, p500a supports dual systems
I don't think o11 supports dual systems
I don't feel like there's a true standard for these things, mostly marketing I guess
Yea mid and full tower doesn't have any standard to em
Like how eATX standards are wack
Well Fal'Cie since you helped me first I will follow what you recommend
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/3CHgj2 also i5 helped me adjust some things
Pick whatever you like out of these, doesn't need to be from my recommendations
Recommended i5 over a ryzen 5600
I was about to say, that's about the only reason for that lol
they don't have the gpu on hand and they are stuck on a laptop with an i3-7100U
UHD 750 is fairly decent
i5-11500 is a good way to get running
then drop in a gpu painlessly once they find one
Still gets beaten by comparable vega graphics, but decent
destroys their laptop in both cpu and igpu department
Hm, core GM is weird
well yeah but then you either have to get a 3400g or play the aliexpress oem seller lottery with no warranty
and if you get a 3400g you have to gamble on a b550 board working
No good reviews, supposed to be a cut-down focus, but only thing we know is a crappy sleeve fan
or screw your upgradability with a b450
my laptop specs lol
Or wait a few months for new chips
No data on caps
i have a 650 core gm
What are you running on it?
handled sustained 610W of gpu power no problem
no fan noise or anything
i have my 3080 and 3070 mining on it which is usually 340W but one time after the rig restarted afterburner decided not to auto apply settings and i left it mining at stock for 20 minutes before i noticed
Dunno, says Hong Hua Sleeve bearing fan on the spreadsheet, oh well
umm I still haven't decided on a full tower yet. I guess I'll go with the 229 thingy, or that cheap full tower i5 talked about
I'm just slightly concerned about what caps are in there, but if you have had it for a while, I guess we can assume it's okay for now
yeah it has been driving my 3080+3070 24/7 for over a month now
Just not fun when there's no good reviews or data on it
So you said p500a is practically a full tower right?
it is supposedly tier B
uses some russian reviews as the basis
P500a is really nice, you can see all the specs on expansion and all
and it has a teardown
google translated russian review lol
wait
aren't you russian?
can you read the original? LOL
Any normal atx case should allow you to upgrade just fine, but P500a does support some really nice stuff like eATX boards
No
Wrong nation
Lol
where are you from?
Different nation
the review says the main capacitor is manufactured by hitachi in the 500W version and nippon chemi-con in the 650w version
Won't lie I even looked at websites that did comparisons for mid tower to full towers, and they usually give the same answer.
has OPP, UVP/OVP, OCP, SCP, and OTP
Did they test them?
yeah
i linked the translated review if you want to see for yourself
full teardown and testing
What's the triggering point for ocp? Just making sure
I'm on mobile atm lel
Sounds decent
so 793W and 625W respectively
this looks good
less than 1% deviation from 12V at any load level
Wish they'd just slap the data on the spreadsheet smh
Oh yea, what about hold up time
good efficiency
i'm running it right near the peak
total system power around 360W
Efficiency is kinda given but yea
well
the google translation breaks some of the tests from displaying properly
but i cannot read the original
anyways everything points to it being an excellent budget psu
will have no issue with a single 3060ti
i would trust it with a 3080 depending on the cpu
and that's just for wattage reasons rather than quality reasons
seasonic has a pretty good track record not like we're talking about an untested raidmax
