I figured out the problem. The motherboard needed a bios update to use a gen 3 ryzen. Just popped a gen 2 in, bios showed up, and updated. Thanks for the help

does switching display cables from hdmi to dp affect anything? while I was on my old setup (gt710) I was using my main monitor (asus vg259, 144hz) with its stock hdmi cable. when I installed the new gpu, i switched it to my second monitor's (philips 243, 75hz) dp cable thinking it would give me higher refresh rate (not knowing you can set screen refresh rate in windows at the time). could it be possible that the dp cable couldn't handle the 144hz monitor because it was designed for 75?
i just switched both display cables back to their intended monitors and it might just be a placebo effect but i feel like it's running somewhat better
heaven crashed once, but relaunched and it was fine, twin saga still froze on me but i ran other stuff after it froze and nothing else was crashing, have yet to try twin saga again
i'm also sending an email to msi and seeing what they think

Motherboards debug lights show everything is detected, but the GPU isn't when it's pulled out.
