@finite carbon Likely yes. Alot of motherboards weren't sent with the compatible bios version to add in the 5000 series amd processors. You need a processor in the older gen ryzen families that you can flash the bios with. I remember someone said AMD can send you a loaner cpu to update it but might take some time.
