I’m sure someone will come along with a SCP:Unity mod that essentially makes the game CB but with Unity graphics
And rendering higher than 1080p

Idk what’s wrong with SCP but it literally cannot run in resolutions higher than 1080p or it just straight up breaks
old game tho
not so great engine
Where can I find a 3070
best Buy, Newegg, Ebay. All out of stock
microcenter is the easiest imo
Well, Ebay is full of scalpers so
but as vintage said those options are good if you arent by a microcenter
Newegg every night 8 PM EST
best Buy the 19th
9AM-12PM EST
Microcenter in person
best bets
Times vary
Yeah, it's been 7:30 more often now
So with the latest msrp change
in my experience microcenter is the best bet but thats based off of location snd other factors
Is nvidia raising their prices too?
you mean the FE's?
I would imagine they'd go up too because the price increase was due to import tax increase
Well, Best Buy hoards for two weeks and does massive drops
While Newegg stocks every night
and thats neither of their issues, I believe its samsungs issue more than anyones
Well, die yields are low, combined with high demand, and people needing money so they scalp. Recipe for oof
Yes
FE are made in Taiwan so theoretically the prices shouldn’t go up
That does mean that they will be more scarce though
Can someone help with a high core build suggestion
Threadripper or xeon
Need it for autocad photoshop etc
i want to say threadripper
I have a specific Rendering pc
Im thinking last gen threadripper and a 2000 series gpu
but lower end Xeon may be better
Do u think that would cut it
gpu is irrelevant
Fair
3990x is godly
it could probably be it's own GPU tbh, if made correctly
need a damn good cooler though
What
Aio or air?
AIO
Im looking at noctua’s coolers
wait
are you looking at tr or Xeon?
which specific CPU would you buy of either Threadripper or Xeon, before we answer any more questions?
Trying to keep the price down cuz i gotta build 6 identical pcs for work
Threadripper
What kind of price or core counts?
Noctua and Arctic make great coolers in general, I do not know cooling too well though
stop fallen
The set out budget is $2000 per pc
Hmmm
I suppose you could go with a 3960x and a 3070 or something
1what
i needed to ask a question
Would a 2000 series gpu cut it
yes
To save a few bucks
3950x is good too but it isnt threadripper
and IDK about Zen+ threadripper, dont have enough Zen+ expertise
You truthfully won't get a veryy good threadripper with a 2k budget
a 3960x alone is 1.5k, and thats the lowest end of Zen2 threadrippers
Thats fine i was literally just goven this project and this chat is my starting point. I’ll do my research and get back to u
you are forgetting the 2000 series threadrippers
see if you can spring for a higher budget. 2.5-3k will give us a lot more headroom
I am, because I dont have enough Zen+ expertise
Thats zen2
How bout this, can u put together a parts list if u had unlimited funds and i can see how to make it work?
im talking about TR 2000 series
thats Zen+
TR 3000 is Zen2
Wrong lol
unlimited?
no it isnt lol
Ya i’ll try to cut down as much as possible from it without compromising the cpu
😶
yes the cpu naming is bad
the order is Zen (1000-series)
Zen+ (2000-series)
Zen2 (3000-series and 4000-series)
Zen3 (5000-series)
AMD naming schemes are weird
Generally with pc parts all naming is confusing as hell
never played it, what is it?
good morning everyone
What are you connecting to?
It was fine yesterday, but for some reason it just decided to end itself today
That seems like a modem issue
Restart router or modem
When I ran the troubleshooter it said the wifi didn’t have a valid ip address
But that’s weird because all my other devices can connect to the 5g
what brand of wifi card? I've had to reinstall my drivers for mine after a windows update, was mainly on an intel branded radio
I’ll try resetting once my school is over
how many other devices?
is this pc good? (i ordered cpu and its almost here) so im not changing cpu to i5 10400 https://pcpartpicker.com/list/jybcNP
It’s an edup
My laptop and phone both work on 5g
But I’m not running it rn I’m on 2.4 for both I was just testing
get mp34
whats that
no
I’ll try installing newer drivers I only have the one that came in the usb with the card
my budgt is 700
its a better SSD
can you not exceed that for like- less than 2$?
ok fine
thats not in stock
it costs 10 dollars more than the western digital smh
thats a sata m.2
ik the card isnt too good but the card i chose is the cheapest card thatll run ol
not worth it
and is available
mp34? ive never heard of that either
team mp 34
teamgroup ssd
either way, its better than that wd blue one
Does the wd have dram?
ok its expensive dude, its 12 dollars over my budgte
it's the best ssd price/performance
it has NAND i think
it's literally 12$
ah
or a different type of flash memory
it's worth tho
its hard for m to even earn 5 dollars so no
its NAND
@tepid wind you do not have the price of case in budget
anything else i should change
or in the list rather
ok, so ill need to change?
ahh feck
$747 smh
right now is not a good time to buy parts anyway
guess im going to increase to 750$ budget and wait for ssales
and new gpus might be releasing soon(3050/ti but not confirmed)
Find out MOnday
this better?
CES
what does this mean?
The motherboard M.2 slot #1 shares bandwidth with SATA 6.0 Gb/s ports. When the M.2 slot is populated, two SATA 6.0 Gb/s ports are disabled.
That means if you put the NVME in the slot, it will disable a couple of sata ports
whats a nvme
hardrive?
is it a hardrive?
you can
but will it work
ok
which allows you to get some case fans in the budget
but i might play tarkov or american truck sim
later on, you can get a 2tb hdd for $50
the game is 10gb, no?
thats what this website says
heres what it says
Recommended
OS Windows 7/8/10 64-bit Windows 7/8/10 64-bit
CPU Intel Core 2 Duo, i3 2.4 GHz or AMD Athlon, Phenom II 2.6 GHz Intel Core i5, i7 3.2 GHz or AMD FX, Athlon 3.6 GHz

RAM 8 GB 12 GB or more
Disk space 8 GB or more 8 GB or more

soi guess 8 gb +
your specs are fine
Your motherboard has 6 sata ports
Only 2 are disabled with the M.2 drive, leaving you 4 sata ports to use other drives
this better?https://pcpartpicker.com/list/sPzWy4
ah ok
dont go above 750 for my budgt
tahnks dude
YW
$20 more but fully modular and a Tier B PSU instead of Tier D https://www.newegg.com/evga-550-b5-220-b5-0550-v1-550w/p/N82E16817438167
legit my last question then I can upgrade my PC in about a few weeks
10% difference really
i would get 3600 CL16 for $5 more
Not really worth the $100
alright did you find me nything?
$20 more but fully modular and a Tier B PSU instead of Tier D https://www.newegg.com/evga-550-b5-220-b5-0550-v1-550w/p/N82E16817438167
Looking for more too
1650 for 400$?
not wortth it
kmm ok
magnum, 3600 cl16
oof, the days of $75 3600 cl16 is gone
what is the 3600 cl16
Even the Gskill kit went from $85 to $92
Ram speed and timings
huh
oj
what are mail in rebates
so, kinda - depends if they wanna wait
???
usually a pain, but you can get money back from them, varies from who you do it
3600c16 is a complete waste of money with a gtx 1650 anyways
gain exactly 0 fps with that gpu bottleneck
so my ram no good?
probably won't even notice a difference with 2666mhz ram
get team mp34 ssd instead of team mp33
well, if it was $5 more, no just better performance for no noticeable price increase
i still ned to buy a headset, mouse, kerboard, webcam
"better performance" is a bold claim
ok fine
we are talking about a gtx 1650 here
higher ram clock doesn't do anything when you're hard gpu bottlenecked
switch to an i5-10400 and cheap b460 board
team mp34 ssd
you don't need a modular psu
i already ordered my cpu
and im not returning it
you can get a much better 550w 80+ gold psu for cheaper
well that's your loss then
could have used the money you saved on that to get a much better gpu
gtx 1070 would have been in budget with the cheaper i5
im not using i5
but if you want to be ryzen fanboy then nothing can stop you I guess
worse performance for same money
everyone tells me to use the i5 but im a ryzen fanboy so no im not using i5
What better gold PSU for cheaper? You have my interest.
silverstone essential 550w 80+ gold non modular
anyways no point helping someone who refuses advice
does it cost 85?
yea im gonna use a western digital storag
that's the modular version
Hmmm, two different PSU's
im sure it wont b that bad
non modular version is $71.47
Ahhh, trying to stick with modular
dude if you're struggling with money- don't do an 800$ PC... buy used parts and build something for closer to 400
I'm saving both of those though, thanks!
Yup
no im not using used parts
been doing non modular for most of my builds
i want brand new
@arctic jungle guy willfully ignores advice just don't bother
not worth your time brother
Ey, let it go. They want what they want
but if you're struggling that much to raise more than 700$- no offense but you don't really have a choice
ur probably right
I need to find me some used gtx 1070s and 1080s
Reason: Bad word usage
oh feck
gpu shortage is hurting
Hurting big now with import taxes too
My 2060 is going for 3-$400 on ebay used
And it's not even a super
@tepid wind stooop spamming the link
yeah it's a really bad time to run pc building business lol
this better?https://pcpartpicker.com/list/LMyyQD
I'm getting so many customers and it sucks trying to find gpus
no
I'm trying to buy up multiple gpus in the $200-400 range just to have stock
why
just use used parts
no
Ask lili for her 1080s
i want brand new
then stop asking @tepid wind
but is it good tho?
not really
is she trying to sell her 1080s?
even if it was used parts
@hollow grail
I live close enough to her that I could pick them up
sell us ur GPUs
Something something rule 9 I think
oh right
I dunno if she wants to sell them
sorry I just woke up xd
quick @earnest olive make a gc
could go with i5 tho
and save 40 buckos
also b450? what about b550?
bruh
dude
Donk 🙄
no
xd
i already ordered a cpu
return it
Should be going with a cheaper b450 tbf
and im not returning
@arctic jungle my bad, just scrolled up lol
U ordered a year old cpu for above original msrp
could've at least got a good cpu for 200$
dude im a ryzen fanboy youre not gonna convince me to use a i5
lol
dude ur a weirdo im not going to help u save money
x
d
im not asking about saving money
you are though
Even though you'll get better gaming performance due to more GPU budget? 1650 non super is terrible
im not doing this
I mean
how can i save 50 dollars off on a psu
you won't change your build because you say you can't afford it, but you won't change your parts to fix it when we're telling you how to fix it?
enjoy having half of the gaming performance you could have had for literally the same amount of money
Evga bstock, 500BR
by shaving 50$ off the cpu
Save 50 dollars on cpu and put it into psu
i never said i cant afford it
i'll go quote you
go
here's one
What are you using this PC for?
here's another
you said no even though it became 2$ over ur budegt
here
ok fine you got me
???
?
but im not changin my cpu
"I won't buy a better ssd for $5 more"
"I won't buy a similar cpu for $55 less"

What component affects gaming perf the most in a gaming machine?
he said that he already got the cpu tho
They already bought the CPU, stop the dead horse beating.
Dude, you know last gen intel had higher core clocks, right? Plus better single thread...
returning exists
im not returning
9th gen?
it is quite trash imo
unless you find it for really good deal
i love omen voice lines im sotty
that saved money on cpu could upgrade the 1650 to a 1070
9700k is 200$
how much could i sell a 1050ti for
or even a 1070ti
better than 3600 for 200$
poggers
at microcenter
Yeah, but there are deals to be had lol. I got an i7 35% under msrp
i5-10400 + 1070ti vs ryzen 5 3600 + 1650 would be a slaughter
Not now of course
yea, i think my pc is good, i dont even wanna ask
With stocks...
I just got my Asus Dark Hero board ordered, kinda stuck on what memory to get to pair it w/ my Ryzen 9 5950x, in my current i7-4960x system, i've got 64GB of ram, depending on what i'm doing i can use up to 70-75% of it, the boards max is 128GB, not sure if if I should get 4*16, and be done, or get 2 *32 to preserve upgrade-ability if i ever need it in the future, any thoughts on that?
Imagine i5 10400 and 5600xt
nice, like i said
if you find it for a good deal, 9th gen is absolute worth
nothing to imagine
good combo
for lightly threaded games
time to buy my motherboard and ram
@rotund leaf might as well go 2x32, shouldn't be a significant price difference
My micro centers have gt 1030’s
well don't do 2x32 if it's rgb
defeats the point
I dont need RGB
but
rgb give moar perfomance
what memory topology does the board have
it's a joke lmao
it's x570
4 dimms has lower performance than 2 dimms on most boards
so 4 on the right
Yup
its a 4 slot, dual channel board, x570 chipset etc etc
that is not what memory topology means
o?
daisy chain vs t-topology
Dual rank, single rank, etc
ooh
Ryzen does weird things with 4 dimms
Man, can't get any nice timings with 4 dimms past 3200. On bdie, can only do 3200-14-14-14-14. Doing 3400-14-14-14-14 is unstable. Could do 3800-16-16-16-16 with two dimms
either way you should just do 2x32 if you think you'll ever need to upgrade to 128gb
okay confirmed that board is daisy chain
definitely do 2x32
only thing i can find in my 2min of looking is that it has "OptiMEM III" memory something or other, that sounds like a pure marketing term tho
thank you everyone for helping me 🙂
am4 motherboard spreadsheet says it's daisy chain
I dont see that in my search, you must have searched for something different then I did lol
Thank you for taking our advice and saving tons of money 😀
Anyone know where I can find info on static pressure curves vs temps for rads?
ok, thanks!! now off to the QVL to see what memory I can get
can someone help me decide if the stuff im getting to build a pc is good? my friend helped me out with picking out parts but i just want someone else's opinion on if it's worth it. my parts include AMD RYZEN 3 3600 6-Core
ASUS RTX 2060 SUPER
16gb ddr4 Crucial Ballistix ram
MSI B550 Gaming Plus
SuperNOVA 650 G3, 80 Plus Gold 650W, Fully Modular, Eco Mode with New HDB Fan
NZXT H510i Tower Case
IPS Ultra-Thin Zero Frame Monitor
you mean...2060 super?
rgb boosting my ram to 99999999mhz?!?!?!
hums, seems i'm stuck w/ CMK64GX4M2D3600C18 since I can't find the other 2x 32 kits for sale anywhere listed in the QVL for 3600 memory.
I know, I just want to get parts that I know will work w/o the guess/hope factor, plus I want to be a tad lazy and not have to return anything if its not dead/bad
but what would be a good 2x32 kit to pair w/ the 5950x ignoring the QVL?
wow those kits are spendy
I use this in my Ryzen X570 build with no issues. https://www.newegg.com/g-skill-64gb-288-pin-ddr4-sdram/p/N82E16820374066?Item=N82E16820374066&Description=3600 C16&cm_re=3600_C16-_-20-374-066-_-Product&quicklink=true
Nice, i'm using ripjaws in my current build, pretty solid memory sticks
is the 3600/4000 more/less important then the timings? like if I can get a 3600@ 16-22-22-42 or 4000@ 18-22-22-42 ?
I think those are roughly equal performance wise.
I heard something about how the new infini-fabric(something like that) in the Zen3's that you'd want to keep something at at 1:1 but I can't find back where I was reading that, is why i was looking at the 4000 version vs the 3600
Well
2000 FCLK is unreliable right now
and not guaranteed for all processors
So you can buy the 4000 mhz but may only get to 3800, etc with 1900 FCLK
BIOS updates are coming that are supposed to help but still not guaranteed
humms.. that's good to know. its easier to underclock then overclock.. I'll have to take this info and mull over it
The good news is with the 4000 running at 3800
You could probably tighten the timings too
Yep, and I'm seeing RAM prices start to go up also
I'll think it over while I pick out cases and decide how much m.2 storage I want for my OS and current game drive
Good idea
and decide if I want to retire my last 2 spindle drives
i built a NAS for my backups
Then you don't need platters lol
i need to replace them w/ like SSDs then (a 4TB and 5TB) since I can't get my nas's performance to be anything near useable for anything other then cold storage
@hollow grail you're up!
LOL
Wat you need
i just built a new pc
and it’s running with the led on and the fans running
it won’t show a display
Did you flash bios for 5600x
how do i do that
What board
It's gonna be annoying, but unplug everything except cpu 8 pin and mobo 24pin
bruh
download the newest bios off asus and put into a usb drive (empty) then stick into flashback usb port
even the power switch?
it won’t even show a display though
And then with a spare flash drive, go to MSI's website, download the bios, and rename the bios file to MSI.ROM
Also does Asus have a b550-a?
Thought it was just MSI
oh its asus right
Do you have msi or Asus
yea rename it
read the manual
Either way, unplugging everything is universal
do i unplug the nvme and hdd also?
first unplug everything, read the manual for instructions, then follow that stuff
Don't think it's necessary to unplug storage, but your choice
Cpu should be out though
Lmao I found it for you
@short ruin https://edgeup.asus.com/2020/guide-update-your-asus-motherboards-bios-for-amd-ryzen-5000-series-processors/
Aparently they have a bios file renamer that's a program
you can use that
From Asus:
https://www.asus.com/support/FAQ/1038568
yea go to ur mobo's support page
then download the bios thing
extract it
and u should have a bios and a renamer thingy
I just tried to post a link to the ROG asus website for him and i got told it wasn't allowed
you are rookie can't post links yet
Ngl kind of funny that Asus has a standalone program with the sole purpose of renaming the file
seems overkill to me
i have no clue what i’m doing
have you worked in IT help desk before?
go read the page
i did
So, do you have a spare flash drive formatted with fat32
And some other device to download the bios files onto the flash drive
I thought asus boards came with a bootable 5000 series bios
wait it could be an older board nvm im dumb
No brand does
Boards came out before the processor did
I think Dark Hero might be the only board that has guaranteed Zen 3 support
i don’t know what a formatted flash drive is
so plug ur flash drive into ur pc
If you plug it in, and you can move files onto it, it's formatted.
Out of box new flash drives need to be formatted
so i just go to a laptop and plug in said flash drive
then it tells u whether its fat32 or whatever
Yes, go to Asus' website, grab the bios, extract it, use the bios renamer program, move the bios onto usb drive.
i go to the website and look up bios?
but i don’t have an OS yet
dont u have a laptop
oh yea
i thought it mean an OS on my desktop
do i download the latest bios firmware?
yep
and then what do i do after i put it onto the flash drive
Extract the folder
how do i do that
on my laptop?
Yes
ok
Open the extracted folder
okay
kool
And the c7p.cap or whatever file is what you want on the usb
@brave hare boxing day good sales?
Hell yea
Very nice
Saved over 100 Canadian bux
I’m always impressed with how well Newegg packs their stuff
I mean like
So many buubles
Did you pop the bubbles?
Lmao
Bubble popping fun
My cat hates those
@stoic island
Yes?
that’s what is says
Do you have the .cap file
Yea press any key
And then move the cap file onto the flash drive, that's the file you want on the flash drive
i clicked a key and it left it
Ya
so now what do i do?
does the flash drive need to be empty?
I'm gonna go check which ports is the flashback port in the manual
is says bios on it
Found it
Ok don’t worry bois mobo still sealed
Yumi
Alright
Now, make sure everything except cpu 8 pin and mobo 24pin is unplugged
The PSU is on and plugged in
i unplug my keyboard and mouse too?
And then plug the usb drive to the right port, press it down for 3 seconds until it flashes 3 times
Probably should
Yes
What
I think so yea
Everything should be out of the PC
The PSU should be on
Like cpu should be out
Gpu should be out
oh i have to take out the cpu?
Yea
Mm
i have to unplug the fans too right
Mhm
Naed had a guy whose bios wouldn't flashback until they unplugged front panel connectors
Strange
So the less possible failures, the better
Unplug everything to be safe
even the front panel connectors right
Except cpu 8 pin power and mobo 24pin power
look at that beautiful thermal coverage
Oh lol
do i have to pull out the m.2?
@stoic island
@stoic island
@small osprey
@small osprey
Assuming so considering they said unplug everything
Yes you should
okay
why does my cpu power need to be plugged in when my cpu isn’t in
@small osprey
To power parts of the board the BIOS needs so you can update it
Vintage did you get a promotion?
he did
Oh nice congrats man
Plug the usb drive into usb slot with bios written on
and Mod Assists
got it
TY
the power supply needs to be on right
Yea
the flash drive is blinking now
how would i do it if i didn’t have a flash button
Uh oh
what’s uh oh
Flashback ablitity quite useful
how long do i have to wait
That i dont know
until it stops blinking?
@stoic island
there should be a motherboard light on that's either flashing or solid color, yeah?
Wait for that light to go out
ok
And hopefully it works
and try to turn it on
yea ik
mmmhmm
says 8 minutes on Asus' website
ok
Ok guys I need help, I’m doing my first ever solo build and have the lian li razer 011 dynamic and the only system header cable I have is the power sw cable, I don’t know where the other cables are or if they are needed please advice , @ me if you have an answer , Thankyou !
Lemme look at that case
Should have power switch and a reset switch too
Oh that's nice, manual link broken lol
Is a power sw all I need tho, if it doesn’t have a reset switch will it still work?
It'll work yeah
Ok Thankyou
You'll just have to hold down the power switch to reset it
Ok great and you just use 2 pins of the 9 pin system header and that’s fine?
Thankyou!
ok the light is off, now what do i do @stoic island
ye
okay thanks
it’s on again but still showing no display
@small osprey
@stoic island
If you were going to build a decent gaming computer with a 5900x as a starting point. What gpu and mobo would you go with?
pp
any motherboard lights on?
Are you plugged into the graphics card and not the motherboard?
the boot and vga lights are on
Ah
check power cables on the gpu
is the graphics card installed and powered?
storage
how did this happen
Hi, there. Not sure if I'm in the right place at all, just found this forum on NewEgg's website. I work at a Real Estate brokerage and Ive been tasked with building/finding a basic PC to do steady administrative work and be great for 3-4 years of work. Would a build with a current gen i5, 8gb ddr4, and a 256 or 500 HDD or SSD suffice? Could someone point me in the right direction?
yes
For light administrative work you dont need much more than that
go for an SSD though, as those load times get annoying no matter what you are doing
what does the boot light mean? and what does vga mean @stoic island
Thank you, @wanton cliff Confirms I'm on the right path. Cheers!
they’re all plugged in
@short ruin no screen at all ?
nope
Pictures of GPU with power cables?
There ya go
lol
wondering if i can get some help with the pc i'm trying to put together? got a asus rog crosshair viii hero & ryzen 9 3900x. i put it mostly together outside the case and the machine would boot but i'd get a "usb over current detected" when the only things plugged in was a mouse & keyboard ( that i've used fine on other machines ). after putting into the case it doesn't even post, getting q-codes d6 d7 and 55
what does this mean
proof modular psus are bad
jkjk
Modular PSUs are actually really useful
Just had to use one for something and oh boy the lack of cable clutter was amazing
Is it possible to use a separate PSU for every part in your PC?
Yes with a few tricks
two PSUs in one system?
Yep
Yes
Just gotta manually turn the other one on with a jumper
Overclockers do it all the time
Lit
2 1600w Supernovas for your 3990x and dual 3090s, respectively
Oh that reminds me
My friend @hollow basin is somehow running his system (3600x, 2080) on a ThermalTake 500w white certified PSU
Not all thermaltakes are bad
sounds right
I’m cracked.
I've had one for 5 years now but it's an FSP unit
Yeah but it’s white certified
Smart 500w white
means nothing really.
Doesn’t that mean it only carries about 460w from the wall or whatever
And Nevermind that, the 2080 minimum recommended specs is a 650w
Is it really?
Boys. OCd to 2.15 ghz
Yes
Big W
Also last night we were talking about how Seasonic makes really really good or really really bad PSUs, right?
I was told that Seasonic overbuilds and a 650w unit can effectively give you about 700w of performance
How true is this?
.
Sure
Damn really?
Focus golds are good
I mean, I wouldn't push it though
Think I’d be safe with a 3080?
a 2080ti for $330 is good right? assuming it's real
Heat is bad for the caps inside
Heck yes
Yeah, $330 for that is pretty good
nice
also, @wanton cliff that's just called overload, all good PSUs can do that
Assuming it’s real, which is probs is considering the existence of the 3070
Never heard of that before
Ok so the focus gold units are good
Just how good though?
gm and gx, new ones, yea
old ones had issues with I think tripping ocp on high transient response gpus
will my 550W psu be good enough for the 10400 and 2080ti
Would my 650w Focus Plus Gold be able to withstand a 3080 and 3800x?
Probably
10400 more like 70w
@blazing aurora I think so, 10600k and 2080ti was max 440w~ power draw in blender
Ah
I’m confusing you two
Both have Yoshi as your PFP
I thought you were both the same person lol
same name color too
transients can hit 450W briefly
