Which is better ryzen 5 3600 or 3600x
5 3600x
they are the same just buy the 3600 and overclock it
yeah the x is not a massive difference just oc it yourself
i never like overclocking my components just because i like being safe
i dont want my pc to start frying because i have my pc overclocked to play minecraft ultra hd 4k and raytraced
hey, im building my first pc, I was wondering if you guys could look over my list if i sent the pc part picker link
Anyone know of a replacement gpu the 5600xt challenger pro is out of stock
theres nothing dangerous in upgrading the frequency of the cpu they are exactly the same
@ornate solstice no case?
I have one
Mk
go ahead
I don't particularly like this with the 2070 and 3600xt
Agree
And the b450 tomahawk max isn't the best
Yeah, B550 is better.
The main reason it was was it had ryzen 3000 but now everything does
If you are getting b450, get like, an asus one with better features
ok, thanks for the advice!
Dell Optiplex and a GPU
.
^
If you want, whenever you update it @ me and I can look again or I can just revise it
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/pYHTMv @upper condor this is an updated list i made
I haven't been too into the PC building scene in the past few months; but the advice im gonna give is still relevant. Don't cheap out on a lot of part for 1 or 2 good ones, because in the end the performance will be lower. I would just get a better set of RAM,better PSU,maybe a better case and then downgrade the GPU slightly. Because you can always upgrade it later, make sure the stuff you are keeping for the longest is good.
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/Zy2kfP This is my first pc build, im not sure is this is decent or not. Please lmk if I should change something. Thanks
Which one should I buy?
For that little price difference, @ornate solstice prob 3600x unless its enough to get a better thing in another part
Looks fine to me.
Is it okay if yall checked out mine. I would appreciate it
@north hull so, you don't own any of that right?
no, I don't
B450 and Ryzen 2000 are fairly out of date to start off
1050ti IS EXTREMELY out of date
@north hull what's gonna be the purpose?
I would like to have my first pc and I wanted to build it on my own
Ok...
As in, gaming, video editing, etc?
gaming and I wanted to learn how to edit
For an ultra cheap option I would rather buy a decent used Dell Optiplex and slap a 1650 Super and a new PSU in it.
@versed rock 800$ isn't really optiplex territory imo
Optiplex more for like 400$ budget
1000 dollars is where Optiplex territory ends IMO
Eh, alright
I like everything new for 600$+ because you can actually get new stuff that'll be reusable in upgrades
I recommend Optiplexes with a 6000 series CPU and at least 16gb of RAM
Oh then that changes things
4000 series is marginally ok
The optiplexes I know are the <200$ like 4570 8gb
There are some in the 250 range with 6600s and 6700s
Higher than that might as well get a 3100 build (higher than like 600$)
Ehhh, I don't like the 3100
The multi CCX destroys any semblance of good performance it has.
4 cores 8 threads over 2 CCX units is... A bit dumb
Whereas the 3300X is an AMAZING budget CPU.
4c8t with no CCX unit complications
you can't get the 3300x tho
hi good day would like to build a desktop computer for full home office usage no gaming for a work from home business. My problem is in my searches online I keep seeing gaming pc builds and nothing about recommended specs for just regular builds. I'm not sure what processor heck any parts would be considered ok to use without blowing a budget and not end up just building a gaming pc.
Thanks for the information. I appreciate it
usually a decent gaming pc can do that stuff
why is everything going up in price
christmas
sucks
quarantine
what about black friday?
everything will be sold out
thats prob the gimmick raise the price to "drop" it for black friday then say amazing deals
wouldn't that be overspending?
One of AMD's APU's will be good for office work.
yeah strictly work pc
Like a 3200 or 3400g would be good.
oh thank you. much appreciated. I think i could start my build from there would 8gb ram be enough or go for more?
Do u do a lot of multi tasking?
currently its just jumping between various document app like pdf excel word and email but in the future could be more
8 would be enough, you could go more if you wanted.
If you think there will be more in the future I would go 16gb tho.

16gb for gaming
I guess i should stick with a b450 mb vs the older 350, 320 types
8gb for casual stuff
is a gtx 1660 and a ryzen 5 2600 a good combo?
Yeah, go B450, nothing older than that but you may wanna go B550
2700x is $210
Yes, that would be good.
Is that normall?
alright
You may wanna get B550 if you plan on upgrading in the next few years.
ah ok then I understand.
$210 is pretty good for 2700x I think.
thanks alot greatly appreciate the info and advice
Ok, no problem.
@winter tide that's almost my exact build but with a 3600 and a 1070 ti
Whats the price difference
Is it a good setup for gaming?
and the 1070ti is crazy high rn for some reason
really?
on new yeah that's because it's not made anymore
buy used
got a 1070 ti for 150 USD
does it give the code immediately when u buy it?
via email probably
if it doesn't work, amazon is incredibly good with that
atleast from my experience
ok
should i buy ps5 or build 500 dollar pc
500 what currency?
usd
really...
it really depends if you want a console or PC
yeah you can get decent medium to high settings from a 500 machine
500 including monitor and peripherals?
no
alright
i will now make a list
if you're fine buying used, I'd recommend buying a used GPU
they can be a lot cheaper
which gpu specifaclly?
a 1080
can u send the link
I'll dm it to you sure
ok
@granite barn If you're gaming 1080p with high to ultra settings at 60FPS, the 570 will be perfect.
you can afford a decently high end one considering your GPU budget is dealt with
would it just be for gaming or were you planning on streaming and/or video editing?
just gaming
I have an ASUS PRIME H270M-PLUS MB
ASUS has this notice on their site, that my RAM will be limited to 2400 MHz.:
"*. Due to Intel®️ chipset limitation, DDR4 2400MHz memory frequency is only supported by 7th Generation Intel®️ processors.Higher memory modules will run at the maximum transfer rate of DDR4 2400MHz."
with Kingston HyperX 2400 C15 2x8GB I am not sure about frequency and timing, it's about 3 years old in a store built machine. I havre 2 empty RAM slots.
I have chosen to go to 64GB as I often multi task while playing WoW. I want to keep this MB until boards with DDR5 are a thing, then build all new machine.
It seems that mixing 2 different PAIRS of RAM is tricky and requires same timing for best results, is this correct? (I want faster, not slower lol)
Since I can't locate the exact same RAM, and since apparently Intel limits due to my i7-7700, or requires ASUS, to limit the RAM speed to 2400, it seems like I should buy 64GB of the lowest cost brand name RAM and remove my existing RAM? Does this make sense?
This is what I'm looking at on Newegg.ca. I have limited my search to ships from Canada, to avoid COVID delays and border fees. https://www.newegg.ca/team-64gb-288-pin-ddr4-sdram/p/N82E16820331496
It seems like buying higher end RAM will gain me nothing, is my logic correct? I'm fine with the price but want to make a wise purchase.
woah
intel limiting ram frequency?
oh yeah I saw a video about that
xmp voiding warranty and stuff lol jeez
I would not have known if ASUS didn't have a warning. Would be sad if I bought smokin RAM to only get 2400 MHz
yeah, with lower speed ram you'll do fine intel wise you're mostly missing out on around 10 FPS but that 10 FPS would be an expensive motherboard and everything.
I don't know much about the limitations and how they work considering I haven't researched them much but if the website is saying that the ram speed is limited I'd believe it
if you want, you can always buy faster ram and use it in the future but i saw you said you're waiting for DDR5, so it might not be worth it to you
So am I right that I may as well buy the cheapest decent name RAM?
Since everything now is 2400+
Ya I considered buying fancy RAM for future, but Newegg doesn't even show any MBs yet that are DDR5, so I assume it will be a long wait.
I'm pretty sure, yeah
I wouldn't be surprised if it'll take awhile but I have no idea lol
My PC is already pretty good even after 3 years. I plan to buy a 3070 or 3080 some day when they exist, but other than that I can't see value in upgrading for tiny gains. The 3070/3080 will move to new build. I run 3*4K 55" monitors and next year will be editing 4K video, plus I want to try Microsoft Flight Sim.
@ocean tusk if you want to squeeze more life out of your system you might be interested in pin-modding the H270 to run 9th gen and 2666mhz ram
it's not for everyone but just letting you know it's possible
having more cores/threads would be good for your 4k video editing
@cursive flare looks like the GD 2019-V which is labelled as C tier, so not amazing
pov: sips bleach blocked me but opened my mag
which one would be good then?
msg
can u recommend a good gold series for around that price range pls
guys reply on mobile???
I didn't know that pin modding was a thing but sounds finicky unless there is an adapter that's plug n play. For the cost of new processors less what I could get for mine, doesn't seem worth it until I can build a substantially faster machine.
Anyone need help?
hold the message you wanna reply to

Anyone want me to review their pcpartpicker list?

@ocean tusk microcenter has had the i9-9900K brand new in box for 280-300 although i'm not sure if your H270 could handle that chip
definitely not plug and play but it doesn't seem overtly difficult either
VRMs might not be good enough for stock 9900K
Anyone want a pcpartpicker review on their list
no but i got a different question?
wwhat
???
but im pretty sure its just mods
I don't know that game
I can't play it
Cause I game on a mac
I'm buying a gaming pc though next week
whats gon be in it
Does anyone have expertise with the Asus X570 Tuf Gaming wifi
Cause I'm a noob and I have no idea were case fan RGB power goes
check the manual
Also, should I connect all the wires to the psu
It's seems good, I saw the price tag but then saw it was Canada
words of wiseom
Tier A on the tier list
@balmy patio i summon you
I don't know how I will cable manage everything
whats up
thx
lol
Contemplating if I should've gotten a prebuilt pc

just zip tie the cables together and tuck them behind the back panel, no one ever looks back there
niiice one
yeo sir
Is 80c too hot for gpu
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/Nfxv4d
Any thoughts on this build?
I'm still thinking about going for a 5900x
Not sure though
since the ryzen 3100 is 10 dollars less than the ryzen 5 2600
which cpu should i get
ok
It's a super solid cpu for games
And general work
@cyan stone id switch to a b550 to save on costs as normally people don't need the features on the x570
Yeah, 3100 is a great budget CPU overall compared to others if you're not asking for too much
Also, could just stick with stock cooler but if you're ocing that's a different story
There a particular b550 that brings some good value to the table?
Hmm
And yeah, will be pushing an overclock
There's a shadow rock 3 which I heard is similar to the DRP4 or better, and it's a lil bit taller
Keep the cooler lol
At like a 190TDP
We're comparing AMD B550 motherboards to discuss the list of best AMD Ryzen boards and their differences. Not all boards made the cut, so we narrowed it down to the most interesting.

@cyan stone
You can trust the words of tech jesus
Could someone mind make a pc for 1800 australian dollars that is capable of streaming and gaming?
@cyan stone also why are you buying windows?
Uh... do I not need windows? Lol
ebay keys
Or
Use your Microsoft account and add windows license to your pc thru it
If you already have windows linked to a Microsoft account you can have like a certain number of copies of windows on other devices
Idk how much though
Yes
well, it's a cpu 8pin power
you plug that into the 8pin socket for your CPU power on your motherboard
I already pluged one of the same things in
and then plug it into the corresponding socket on your PSU (if it's modular)
you plug in both
yes
I have 2 different wires that both have 8 pins and both say cpu
do you have a modular power supply?
Imma read my manual
Yes
My first pc build, so I'm trash
o
Mk
2nd one could be spare or for like dual CPU motherboards
Ok
What type of cable is this?
It has 2 outputs
8 pin
No description of what it is
Nice feet
Lol
Could show us what the plug part looks like
The one that connects to the PSU?
https://au.pcpartpicker.com/list/sNbYdD
Sorry it took a little while. You could go higher end but it would not even be needed. Honestly, you could go cheaper than this if you wanted.
@ember jetty does the 8 pins on the 2 connector end split into 6+2?
could you show the side with the latch?
Yes
Oh
That plug in GPU
ah, if it splits, its the cable for GPU
correct :)
Dunno why no name on it
Guess I can't use it yet
Unless there is and you haven't shown yet lmao
Untill 3070 is in stock
It says PCIe on it
What is this one with circular holes
Wish there was more of a description for each cable
It has 3 of the same ports on 1 cable
And at the end is a 4 port thingy
im thinking in the asus tuf b550m plus
Does anyone have the MSI Optix MAG274 27"? https://www.newegg.com/p/N82E16824475088?Description=1080p 144 hz monitor&cm_re=1080p_144 hz monitor-_-24-475-088-_-Product
How is it?
Oh my bad, the list I made was way over budget lemme fix it.
that is molex @ember jetty
Molex?
its the old standard for hdd/fans/ODD
Ah
Quick question, is a gigabyte 1660 OC barely used for 200 worth it?
the second picture, the one with a L shaped to it, is SATA power @ember jetty
It’s the 3 fan design
what is the new price of it @hardy oyster ?
Ok Sata power
I’m now sure I tried looking them up but couldn’t find any in stock
look at price history if you can find the specific model on pcpartpicker @hardy oyster
Will check rn ty
np :)
It says 450
E
Only thing it says about it is 1660 oc 6gb 3x fan with rgb I just asked for the model tho
got a picture of it?
https://www.gigabyte.com/Graphics-Card/GV-N1660GAMING-OC-6GD#kf <- that looks like it
if that one is the card in question
have a look at that link
notice how i am looking back 2 years
@hardy oyster
Sata power goes to ur hard drive
Also the sata power cable is like the molex
As does the smaller sata data cable
Sata goes into the harddrives/ssd IF you have any that are NOT installed directly on the mainboard @ember jetty
:) you are very welcome :)
Also, I haven't seen a 2012 style user name in forever
@hardy oyster based on what i linked, i dont personally think its a good deal
but it is your choice :)
RGB adds another extra level of cables
https://au.pcpartpicker.com/list/pvTfdD
Here you go
No I respect your knowledge. That’s why I came here cause I wasn’t sure about used pricing and I’ll listen to what you have to say. Thank you 🙏
you are very welcome :)
a good way to judge prices @hardy oyster is to look at the actual launch reviews of the card
you will have MSRP pricing for it there
Once again thank you very much
Linus makes everything seem so easy 😅
once again, you are very welcome @hardy oyster and good luck on the hunt for a good deal :)
Linus makes production look easy
because he has a VERY talented team :)
And experience
well, its also him knowing when he doesnt know enough
and being able to say: okay, let me ask someone
Okay anthony, you can do the overclocking
Also if I don't have anything with molex do I just tuck the cable away?
because if he didnt do that at a early point? there would not be a LMG
And the retro game stuff
https://au.pcpartpicker.com/list/PjfLcT
Actually I changed your ram .
@ember jetty yes, just store it in your psu box :)
Ok
Idk
there will be a number of cables extra when you are completely done. And storing them there, makes it more likely you will actually remember
Ok
I have to remember not to throw away the stuff
well it's gone now
at the end of it all, you should have 2 boxes @ember jetty
Yeah, keep your product boxes
your mainboard box, and your psu box
Okk
those 2 will contain all the "random" bits
and yes, IF you have the room, you can store the rest somewhere
The harddrive cage is a nuisance
in case of returns etc
Blocks all my cables
I keep all boxes in case of faults
i fold my boxes and then store them
yes, it almost sounds like i have been doing this for a while right? :D
Almost
good

dont want to sound like i know what i am talking about
that would be absolutely horrific
Wish I never bought RGB fans
Oh no
But they boost your speed by 20%
XD
Look for an rgb header on the mobo that has 3 pins that resemble what you're holding
also, while you are at it, please post your mainboard model here
i have a suspicion you will have more questions :)
yes, thats a hub for it
Cause I have 3 and my mobo has 1
wow that case has an rgb hub
you are welcome, but also thank @jagged ember
Yep
i am just lurking here:)
Both of you are big help
I would be stuck stating at the mobo power connector
Without your guy's help
I have 6 more RGB fans incoming
oh joy!
there are no stupid questions, only silly answers.
sata male power connector
Oh wait
goes in one of the sata plugs from before
its coming from the hub with the fans
its for supplying power to all of the fans etc
quite!
Not to be stashed away
not unless you want to dig it out later after a lot of cursing
XD
but if you cable manage decently, you should not have trouble...
emphasis on the if
cable managing is hard work
very true Wide :)
:)
@foggy hazel how bad is it to get a 120gb ssd
wait until you have it all in and managed :)
@whole harbor its not bad, just potentially annoying space wise
just check if it has dram
super important in a small capacity like that
Wats dram
it allows your ssd to maintain it's speed as the drive fills up
Ooh I have 2gb barracuda
without dram, your ssd will slow down as you fill it up
Can u check fot dram
i will look
:🍆
Only reason I am building new pc is because my laptop with the 960m has broken fans, and only pulls 30fps on assassin's creed syndicate
oohh
Tuff
Why would P1 have dram but p2 doesn't
cost cutting
cause of stuff
ssd does not have dram
Oof
Inland Professional Sata does not
Which do i get
120gb ssd
check this out if you aren't sure about your SSD
Does ram make up for dram?
no
Oop
nope
at this point true it shouldn't be an immediate concern
and yes, i know Wide, there is HMB etc
I'm trying to cable manage now
worry about it after the build boots lol
i.e. me regretting my NVME boot drive being garbage
1030 is worse than certain integrated gpus lol
this is true
however, a 1030 vs no integrated, is infinitely more useful @next kestrel :)
that is true
it'll still run mc shaders
I also need a placeholder to edit videos with
@jagged ember is there any $15-$25 120gb ssd that have dram?
hmm
skip out on the 2tb HDD @whole harbor and buy an actual ssd instead
i can try looking, but i agree with naed
@foggy hazel which one
then save up and add the 2rb hdd later
get a bigger capacity ssd instead
sn750/mp34/sx 8200 pro
Mp34, SN750, or a crucial P1 if you're on a budget
whichever is cheapest
sx8200pro got worse controller recently tho naed
it's not on the same level as the former 2 anymore :(
thank you for reminding me about that
really sucks they did that
aye
ah, the dreaded pins
fpanel
Whats the cheapest
One plugs into hub
front panel pins yes
I use my manual to figure out which of those things go where
oh
Thx xd
big preesh
it has the speaker in the same block
Me confused
and ALL the led connectors
So I put HDD sideways?
Pins
ah
just plug them into the right pin, i don't think orientation of the lettering on it matters
Ok
honestly i can't figure out a way to explain how to plug these pins in
@jagged ember simplest is perhaps like this:
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/jJfBqp @jagged ember
have the person focus on 1 pin at a time
and simply go from there
IF i am on a voice call with someone assembling
i have them confirm that a specific pin is number 1
nice, su800 is a good budget ssd
and then it just becomes a "put what you are holding at pin number X" game
Lel
budget
Is it 7200rpm?
that's an ssd dulvn
What is, IN VDG
naed big brain
what is it twisted with @ember jetty ?
imagine how many promotions you'd get as a customer service lol
no thank you, been there, have the container of t-shirts Wide
Umm
oof fair enough
aye. its rgb
RGB*
just like before
where does it come from?
or rather, it should be at least :)
picture?
and i imagine that comes from the hub too?
so, it goes to the mainboard fan controller bits
heck that is pretty weird for a fan controller
@ember jetty what parts did you get for your first pc?
@ember jetty very close to where you connected the RGB on the mainboard
there should be a fan controller plug
so, my question is this: where did you connect the other part of that cable?
Hmm?
Umm
The white RGB thing
No other RGB header has a in VDG input
Non that I can see at least
a bit up and to the LEFT, there are 2 fan controller connectors
right next to a different RGB connector (that is also white. and NO that does not work with your RGB stuff)
Thoughts on this? https://pcpartpicker.com/list/cQdQdD
Help please. Build a new PC today. It's was running perfectly until it crashed and turned off by itself. It's now in a bootloop.
SPECS:
-ROG B550-A (Updated bios already)
-R5 5600x
-850W EVGA
-16gb ADATA XPG 3200
-RTX 3070FE
I already reset cmos
And unseated one ram slot
dont take the CPU one of those two @ember jetty
Would you say the Ryzen 5 3600 will work with not much issues with the 3070? @ember jetty
3600 will be fine with the 3070
Umm, it might have partial bottleneck, I have no idea what I am saying
Don't listen to me
Yea
literally
aye
The XT? @jagged ember , or were you replying to someone else there.
3600XT is same price as 3600
Wideus help?
The wire looks like it is dangerously stretching
@ember jetty the one you are supposed to use is the one that is closest to the white RGB pins up there
650w is enough
Yea 750 should be max
yes, like that
The wire is stretching
and?
Partially
Mmmmm
Is that ok?
Ok
@scenic turret before you boot, plug in a usb with windows media image into your rear usb port and boot from it
The IFixit kit is amazing
ifixit best fixit
True, but tweezers so useful
lol tru tho if you already have a set of those tools you don't need an ifixit
Already created boot drive. It ran smoothly for an 1hr and just decide to crash after Minecraft rtx
Now bootlooping
rip minecraft rtx broke pc
still, my advice stands
plug it into a usb2.0 port in the back and boot from it
Lol
Ok
I wonder if your processor said nah and decided to die after RTX mc. It’s a joke btw
btw @ember jetty could you take a picture that shows all of your mainboard?
can you guys help me build a pc around $700?
gaming pc
prebuilds are also fine
i need everything besides a keyboard, mouse, and headset
@ember jetty okay, so. you know all those cables you have coming out the same cutout?
there are holes that are much more practical to use @ember jetty
I should move it ok!
you can improve the storage on that build, but i think there's enough leeway for a monitor and keeb and mouse
you should have plenty of length
hi, can you guys help me build a pc that is around $1400-1500
the hole you are using currently, should be for the GPU power cables and nothing else
@plush bough https://pcpartpicker.com/list/3d84dD if you can get your hands on 6800XT and the 5600x
thx
also, what is that?
it's a bit over budget tho lol
and what is wrapped around it?
It's own wire
that looks weird
Are you making a list or actually building?
yeah, i'd pull that one through
could you take a close up of that section @ember jetty ?
I just redid it
oki
think of the back of the case as the attic where you store as much random stuff as possible
that is what the space there is for afterall :)
U mean here?
tecc tip #naed: hide your cables in the back of your case
Reason: Bad word usage
As long as the panel closes its fine
aye
aye @ember jetty
Can someone help me with a Budjet bulid
how budget
Can somebody please make @weary stirrup compaa build with a budget around 600 usd
That big lump of wire
Ok
Is it for gaming?
your call @ember jetty
I have 600 USD build
600USD
Does it have 3100 and 1650 super?
599 usd
it's technically 580 usd
but it's got a 3600xt and a 5600xt GPU
alas, only a 1tb boot drive
@jagged ember the gpu price isnt included
oh, damn i didn't notice that LOL
Hah yeah
never mind me, then
Get a better psu
Get the super variant of the 1650
Also the 3100 is better than the 2600 for gaming
And it's cheaper
Also a cheap 512gb ssd
1050ti
Im going to go now
ouch 600 is hard to make a build for
Naed
I can make one tomorrow
Does this look ok?
With a 512gb ssd
See ya
I'm on mobile rn
Ooh cool RGB ram
better @ember jetty
Why show off that ram when you have an ampere gpu?
now you just need the remaining parts
Can anyone sell me a 3070 for 550 or less
Unseated ram, unseated gpu, reset CMOS already
All I need now is my GPU
did you try doing what i suggested already?
Changing out my cablemod with original cable to see if thats the issue
Could I power it on rn?
it wouldn't even boot into the USB?
@ember jetty what cpu you have?
3700X
try plugging the USB with your windows installer into another USB port
Ok
Hm.
You might have to go big navi
K
Me?
If you're on about CPU + navi performance, that only works for Zen 3 and RX 6000
6800 xt isnt as good as 3080 but it still kicks 2080 ti butt and it's $50 less than the 3080
Yea you
I can only spend 550$ on gpu
Yeah, 6800XT is good enough if you're not gonna be using GPU for streaming or RTX
Yeah
Maybe find a used 2080 ti
Yeah, but DLSS is eh, only used for RTX
I strem
Or 2080 super
good luck getting normal prices for last gen tho
all of them are now limited edition
Lol
yeah
It's so dumb
literally same price as a 3600XT
Umm
Or 5600XT
I smell smoke
3600xt is bad
Far better
oo that's true the 5600xt
Uh oh
I think I did something wrong
Switched out cablemod and attempting to reinstall via different port
Unless you're an OCer
Turn off pc and unplug psu
Still bootlooping
Unless it is the fan spinning sound
really weird the pc isn't booting from your windows installer usb
I already turned off the pc and unplug multiple times to unseat modules again
Omg
Just uhh, turn off PC if you are smelling smoke @ember jetty
The fans smell like Vietnam factory
it's like caviar
