like the purge
for fallen and floppa too
@crisp bolt If you would've said yes I would say definitely the two fan. Even without overclocking though the 5950x does get pretty toasty so it would be nice to get the 2 fan. It probably wouldn't be an issue going with the single fan though.
@cold jewel understood 🙂
all crime is legal until the general chat is fixed
@crisp bolt What memory sticks do you have?
tell that to mee6
@crisp bolt What memory sticks do you have?
@cold jewel G.Skill Ripjaws V 32 GB (2 x 16 GB) DDR4-3600 CL16 Memory
fix
@cold jewel do remember, d15 only fits 32mm under 2nd fan in normal setup
Which is like
No ram sticks
Ripjaws are 42mm high
Yeah I keep forgetting about that..
Should I get the 1660super 1660 ti or 2060 super with a 3600xt
@crisp bolt Due to the size of the d15 and your memory sticks height you won't be able to run that with your memory sticks.
@small osprey barely
@crisp bolt Due to the size of the d15 and your memory sticks height you won't be able to run that with your memory sticks.
@cold jewel ok understood
Because cheaper fans afaik
You think the U12a would be a better recommendation for him? @stoic island
hmmmm
what fans do the d15 have
@crisp bolt Check the style of the U12a that would be another alternative that is similar to the d15.
Nf a15
and thats worse?
I think that is the reason I didn't buy the D15 myself ahah
@crisp bolt Check the style of the U12a that would be another alternative that is similar to the d15.
@cold jewel sure. will do 🙂
It is a great cooler just some can't use it :l
Such as me ahha
I don't care either way though I planned on water blocking either way. EK for the win
@stoic island only thing is will it fit in a td500 mesh
yea
i can take off the second fan
Why wouldn't it fit in the case? It would be dependent on the ram
so im not too worried about that
Then just buy a d15s lol
@cold jewel some cases suck
And only have 155mm clearance
Ahem p400a
how much cheaper is the d15s
TD500 is large enough isn't it?
i think so
but idk
so thats why im asking
and ram is either gskill ripjaws
which is pretty tall
or crucial ballatix
or trident z neo (maybe)
D15s cheaper by 10$
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
hmm
well neos are supposedly same height as ripjaws
so i think ill be fine
i could raise or just remove second fan
@small osprey you sure
Afaik it's like 45-50mm
ripjaws are 40 i thought
Anyways either way there's no way you're fitting it under second fan
@small osprey I'm saying neos
Ripjaws is 42mm
Mhm
My focus g has 167mm clearance
And it has a bit of trouble closing side panel with bootleg fan placement
^
@small osprey there's no case fan mount with space for 150mm fan >:p
Shouldn't break if so it has warranty xD
u never know ¯_(ツ)_/¯
Why not just get the smaller one?
because
xD
@small osprey you know how good Noctua fan certifications usually are right
¯_(ツ)_/¯
They're crazy
if i get lower ram
It's like 15 years of non stop use
Yeah noctua is known for amazing fans
i put the other one on
Lemme check to make sure
alright
Bc pretty sure a12x25 has like 150000 hours of constant spin certified
Cya
A15
It's like mean time to failure or something
Not certified but really god damn good
mhm
Basically all noctua fans have an extreme long running time to the point where you won't even need to replace them.
xD
Hey Joe
What's up?
No worries
So do Samsungs typically last long? Cause I just read that they have a 1 year limited warranty. But the other monitor has a 3 year :/
Unless I bought a purchase protection plan...
on a used monitor?
Is that possible on newegg or is that only possible with a new one
Depends usually on the panel...
:l
But one Samsung monitors they are generally pretty good.
Should easily last quite a few years.
That's what I'm thinking..
But can a purchase protection plan be applied to a used monitor?
If you are worried about that I'd honestly just buy it new for the $100 extra.
You might be able to apply a purchase protection plan but I'm not truly sure. It'd probably be better to just buy it brand new though.
I just don't get why Samsung would offer a Small warranty. Like You see a toyota nowadays and its 36k miles
Like your paying the money
Well Samsung generally builds great panels. Nothing should go wrong with it. I mean unless you hit it with something it should be fine for a good long while.
Hey idk where to put this but I have a prebuilt (yes I know that is a sin) and I want to know what wattage my power supply is. The sticker isn't there btw. The parts are an i5-9400f, 1660ti, asrock mobo and 16gb of ram. (It's an ibuypower btw)
prebuilt is good for value
Yah I got it for Black Friday last year
Nice
I'm also gonna upgrade this year and I want to know what my power supply is so I can know if I need to upgrade it
Nothing wrong with a pre built if you get it for a good price 🙂
Yeah I originally wanted the Archangel pc but they wouldn't ship it to Illinois for some reason
Ah
Huh
Oof that's weird
ikr
Lol they hate Illinois
@strong sand If you open it up and look at the power supply it should show a tag of some sort on which you can look up.
Oh really?
Yes
I hate it too, taxes are high. Recommend moving to texas. Just need to be good at programming :l
Also colds are brutal
dont come here
Deep dish sucks
Dunno why the PC wouldn't be shipped there
Oof
I have been considering on getting a laptop considering black friday coming up
Asus Tuf A15 :D
Microcenter had a i5 lenovo for $500?
I am editing on 8GB XD
Any good values? Just like for college work
Keep in mind depending on the way the PSU is mounted it may be hiding the tag. It might need removed from the PC. @strong sand
Does anyone know a good motherboard for a AMD RYZEN 7 3800X 8-Core
WiFi or non? @static plume
Non
Price range?
Mmm like any where from 300 or 200 preferably 250 or less
With or without tax
Without or with doesn't matter
I'm looking for the x570 tuf gaming without wifi not sure why it is so hard to find
Give me a sec
Actually nvm they are both the same price ish
Without wifi or with WiFi does that matter ?
...
There you go I found the one without WiFi.
Without wifi or with WiFi does that matter ?
@static plume For me it would. Who has Ethernet jacks all around their home?!
Well you will need ethernet to plug into the PC if you don't have the wifi model
Gotcha that's what I thought , thank you !
No problem
That is the one with WiFi @static plume
They are both good motherboards.
Ok thanks
Yep
ok so i need help again so i had my pc tower running and i cant even dowload anything without it (cpu goes to 100 percent and then shuts down ) what can i do to fix this
What CPU?
Its a AMD cpu i believe
It could possibly be thermal throttling and hitting a peak then shutting down.
Is it overclocked?
no its not overclocked
is there a cooler?
what do u mean a cooler ?
CPU cooler

Like the CPU isn't just bear is it?
yes there is
Keep in mind depending on the way the PSU is mounted it may be hiding the tag. It might need removed from the PC. @strong sand
@cold jewel ok thanks
it just started i bought it off someone who said it had some issues i got windows re installed and then i thought it was running good and boom right when i went to download something boom shuts down
my husband said it was peaking but
we dont know how to fix it
Do you know how to boot into Bios? Alot of bios screens show the voltage, temperature, etc.. of the CPU.
yes i do but it takes me a few tries 1 moment ill brb
Kk
It says 1.428
holy
Cpu core
Do you know the CPU name?
It should show it somewhere in Bios. For some CPUs that is a safe voltage but for others that is quite over the top.
AMD Ryzen 7 3800X 8 core processor
hrm

So it shouldn't be either of those
I'd assume it isn't software related since you said you reinstalled it all
It could possibly just be a bad CPU and or motherboard. It could also very well be bad memory as that can cause weird issues like that. I don't think it would necessarily spike the CPU to 100% like that though.
Is it only when you download something? @raw sparrow
Yes or installing
You can do everything else fine though?
Pretty much

https://pcpartpicker.com/user/bjarmstrong08/saved/#view=HLsNcf
Hey so I’m pretty set on my build for right now except for a GPU. Any suggestions?
Hmm I'm honestly not that sure. Maybe @stoic island might know. It can be quite a few things it does sound like a bad piece of hard ware though.
Most likely the motherboard, cpu, memory, and or hdd / ssd
If you can somehow install https://www.cpuid.com/softwares/hwmonitor.html on a USB and then plug it in to install on the PC I might be able to help you a little more. I'm not sure how locked up it is though.
Guys, I plan on building this pc as just a normal not over the top cheap pc. I want it to be a eh pc and upgrade parts later on? How well would this setup work?
@indigo stratus Ditch the cooler. It comes with a good cooler
Ok. Any recommendations for a GPU?
Radeon 6800, 6800xt drop Wednesday
looks fine
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/c3yPF8 I just want to know the performance of this setup, ik it'll be pretty bad but I want a low end computer for rn
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/WJv9cT 60hz is second monitor and main is 144hz 1080p i know its overkill but this is my first and last build so yea GPU is 3080/6800XT good?
Good to know
also you can get windows keys for like 5$ on ebay
So there’s nothing you’d change for my build
Evening
Like what I want one with wifi
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/WJv9cT 60hz is second monitor and main is 144hz 1080p i know its overkill but this is my first and last build so yea GPU is 3080/6800XT thoughts?
I dont recommend that ram, cooler, or psu
ALOT of people said cooler and ram is good psu is overkill because this my last build
@little osprey cooler is good, ram is overpriced because of rgb, I'd get a Enermax Revolution D.F. at 850w for same tier of quality while getting multirail
Pretty sure focus plus gx is single rail
Anyways
My actual concern is with that SSD
do i go Ryzen 9 5900x plus 3080 or i9 10900k plus 3080
SN550 kinda sucks
@little osprey get a Team MP34 at least, 107$ for 1tb.
Dram is good
@unique grove Depends on what you do, likely 5900x.
kk cause i have a preorder for the 5900x question is how long will it take for me to get it in hand
hopefully really december but with my luck it will come like 2021 lmao
@stoic island opinion on this? ik out of stock but im not buying for the next couple months, just gathering rresearch rn
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/fjRWt8 would I need a ryzen 9 instead of ryzen 7
How is my pc list https://pcpartpicker.com/list/mQbZJf
What fans
@lunar rover i dont think you would need a new gpu
Ok if you say so
@cold jewel im back and I got the cpuid downloaded on my pc
And i am installing the amd ryzen 5 stock cooler
or @stoic island I don't know if u have read the chat ur were tagged in a bit earlier
Do i have to remove the black brackets?
Ah cool cool. Open it and view the voltages and temperature of the CPU.
Try to recreate the problem and see if it randomly reboots.
Check manual
it says 34.29 for the value min is at 25.98 and max is at 35.33
For the CPU temperature?
Look for the voltages and see the min / max value of those.
Temperature looks perfectly normal
What cooler?
voltage 1019
1.019?
yes
That seems normal as well
Try to download something and watch the voltage see how far it spikes up
I personally think it is a motherboard or drive issue
More of so leaning on the motherboard
Nice
Not sure
1 min
Kk
I scratched up 50 bucks
amd cooler I believe
Stock?
You know the model?
Eh should be fine
@raw sparrow did you buy it or did it come in box
Stock is fine
Scrapy got it used
Oh
yes
but It seems to be running fine
Take a pic?
Either way it should be fine with prime 95. Would probably thermal shut down anyhow.
I have a pic of what it sorta looks like
I doubt it'd get to 95C anyhow
P95 ^
hai
Take a pic if you can
Ah
That's stock
Wraith prism
Yep
@cold jewel CPUs generally don't crash just from overheating tbh
They just throttle
whats a good 1080p or 1440p 240hz curved monitor (can be ultrawide doesnt matter)
@cold jewel CPUs generally don't crash just from overheating tbh
@stoic island dont they auto shut down or something?
Sometimes they do but I think it'd take a lot right?
I've never gotten my CPU that hot before I'm an over clocker though aha
Question about something not in manuals 😅: is it normal if the 4 screws on the stock cooler dont line up well with the holes on the mobo?
Check manual maybe
D15 sux
Theres nothing there about that 😥
so than what else could be my issue the motherboard ?
@raw sparrow we don't know
Run the prime 95
It can be literally anything atm
And watch the hwmonitor
Ram could be bad
Cpu could be bad
Power delivery could be bad
Drive could be bad
Drivers could be bad
Gpu could be bad
Who knows
ooof
We're trying to narrow it down
user could be bad
literally everything could be bad
xD
warranty could be bad
That's why we are tryna get you to run P95
case even maybe
Indeed
I remember I had a webcam that everytime the desk would bump I'd blue screen
Ahaha that was fun
^
tell me what I need to do
xD
3070 dealers end up making bazaars
do I join or do I just do stress testing ?
Stress testing
Stress test lol
build pics broke
We're not forcing you to dedicate your pc to finding prime numbers smh
high power or maximum power test ?
what should I be watching for ?
Does it crash
it hasn't yet
If it doesn't crash in a minute or so, good enough for now
Whatever the top left button is called, and stop all workers
CPU for now should be good
Memory test next perhaps? @stoic island
Large FFT should stress the memory controller / ram
okay ]
FurMark - GPU stress test and graphics card benchmark
Ya
how long does it run for ?
Until you stop it
the gpu seems stable between 70 and 71 celcius
No
day 1 billion of not having either a 5 5600x or a 3070
Not new for 400$
@little osprey wait till black friday
Youll find good deals
And might be able to get like a $550
Pc for $400
@stoic island do I keep it running still ?
ok
@stoic island should I try to install a game now or is there more testing to be done ?
Memtest86 if you have a spare usb drive
^
I don't but is it able to be installed on the pc?
Wouldnt this be a good build? https://youtu.be/dSJzlgFk4rw
Welcome to my latest PC build! This time it's a $750 streaming/gaming PC. This video is a full build guide and I hope you guys enjoy it.
This video is in partnership with Micro Center.

No purchase necessa...
It's a boot from usb thing
Your picture didn’t show up #build-pics @meager pumice
possible
i made a 2600 2060 list for 840
mine had a 500
@stoic island so now I should be able to install games correct or Is there still a chance of it crashing ?
Hmm
Well the issue hasn't be solved
yeaaa
@raw sparrow We have not done anything that stops crashing, this is only debugging
Im waiting for cyber monday
I dont have a micro center near me so
Yea
I dont think black friday is an option for me

@meager pumice where the pic?

see @weak field just did it
@hoary lichen look online
just a ss of the discord background lol
ya
||yes||
hehe
hrm!
Hm.

I have 500 bucks saved up
250 to go

@weak field how much do you think the prices will drop on black friday or cyber monday

Idk man
800 can get you rtx 2060 performance if you cut corners
But that’s only without monitor probably
Then get a 1660 super
6800 available in 2 days
You’ll have 500 for the rest of ur stuff
5700
If you want a 2060
Nah 5600xt is behind 2060
Go 30 bucks above
Yea
5700 xt = 2070
Yea
I know where to down load nvidia drivers but
Where do i download radeon drivers

Im dumb
Reason: Bad word usage
Reason: Too many infractions
I wouldnt know that
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/m3YxHz this is the pc im building, im upgrading basically every part from a prebuild i bought except im not replacing the hdd psu or gpu, i do want to get a 1660 super soon tho, anyway is it good or nah
@hoary cloak why b450
Imma ask this why the hell are you getting a 1050Ti for that build
its the motherboard i have already
Why TT smart
Also why are you buying windows for 105$ 😭😭
@hoary cloak you should start using the marked as purchased thing lmao
You can get it for 23 bucks
200$ headset lol
Makes things a LOT less confusing
@stoic island yeah my b
Why the web cam tho
i already have it
AOL should run fine
@hoary lichen @little osprey calm down on the language'
dont do that
yes

this is build chat ppl
lmao
any rule breakers here?
You might be able to get cheaper ram @hoary cloak
I think its called
Hold up
Gotta check
dog i really need to find out how to turn on purchased already
Lol

Tomie on game
cpu mobo ram and im reusing gpu psu
I mean he also had a javis pfp
When ever i see those I usually think its a fortnite kid
Any experienced builders here?
does the 5600xt have drivers and heat issues? @arctic jungle
@hoary cloak when editing the list, see the gear next to each item?
@stoic island
Marked as purchased there
does the 5600xt have drivers and heat issues? @arctic jungle
@whole harbor wat
ifk
i dont think so
thanks
Someone said smthintn abt it
it shouldn't like its 2020
@stoic island does the 5600xt have driver/heat issues
Heat depends on the model
no
Driver is fine
Is the model i was getting fine?
Anyone know if b550 is better tham x570. I watched a Linus Techtip video he said he belived b550 are the future, but from what i can tell most use x570 motherboards. Trying to get the best one for streaming/video edits.
well rip
x570 has more features imo
Ill just get a better one on black friday
@stable stone b550 and x570 chipset difference is just chipset pcie 4.0 lanes
B550 had CPU pcie 4.0 lanes for first m.2 slot and pcie slot

There's also the herd mentality of "gotta spend 300$ because the more expensive the better"
@stoic island should i get sapphire?
@stoic island which one
@stoic island what about the rx5700xt XFX Thicc II Ultra?
Anyone know if b550 is better tham x570. I watched a Linus Techtip video he said he belived b550 are the future, but from what i can tell most use x570 motherboards. Trying to get the best one for streaming/video edits.
@stable stone x570 has more features, but b550 takes the important ones and puts it on one board
pcie4?
What does the chipset give you extra
well
B550 gets pcie 4.0 for GPU and first m.2
Just saying that's misleading ;)
im sorry if im wrong
It's not just "x570 more features"
can someone please make build for 400 dollars i already have my gpu
Because a good amount of b550 boards can beat x570 boards for feature at the same price
@stoic island should i stick with a 5600xt or 1660 supe
5600xt
Jayz2cents said b550 makes no sense but BitWit and Linus said b550 is better
@stable stone should be fine
@obsidian temple I want to hear Jay's argument lmao
B550 no sense eh
What about 100$ budget for a board
@stoic island whats the best 5600xt brand?
@obsidian temple keep in mind that Jayz doesnt make much sense either
and it all evens out
its the one called 'worth the compromises over x570?' or something
Lol
@whole harbor don't go msi or Asus or reference
And don't go blower (obviously), and it's fine
Whats refference
i thinnk they meant *for reference
oh
Ok
ohhh
It was blower for rdna
will 6800 founders edition be worth it?

@obsidian temple don't know until we get reviews
@stoic island https://pcpartpicker.com/list/fCG89N
tell me if this is a bad idea: Im gonna try and buy 6800 on launch day (if i can) and wait for reviews. if its good, i'll use it in my build, if its not better value than 3070, i'll return it and wait for 3070 to come in stock
i dont want to sell the card for more because I hate it when people do that
6800 closely competes with 3080 and 2080ti
Imma just see the prices on black friday
the prices might be good, but thew stock wont
should read into it
If I get a fully modular power supply do I have to buy cables for it?
no
So no cables?
they come with cables
can buy sleeved cables from cable mod tho
i recently learned that you cant buy extentions and justplug those in because every psu company uses different connectors
so you basically have to order them from cable mod with the specific psu connectors
bruh they're called extensions for a reason smh
uhhh
extensions are universal
there are sleeved cables that you plug directly into psu where you have to be mindful that it's actually made for your psu with the correct pinout
and then there's extensions that just go on the end that's supposed to go into your mobo/gpu
those ends are universal so extensions are as well
ye, but im talking about plugging directly into a fully modular psu's connectors
ofc the extentions are universal lmao, its not like theres proprietary pcie or 24 pin connectors
well
there the 12 pin
well... you did say extensions
well, i thought that i could just plug extensions into a fully modular psu at first
at least for some of the cables, because the others wouldnt reach
extensions are named extensions because they extend 😛
also, the lian li strimers do be lookin kinda clean doe
💸
Hey guys im gonna order some parts for this build thoughts? I have the case already
storage is subject to change cause of newegg bundles tbh
@frozen axle NH-D15 is a good cooler but please do not spend $221 on it
you should also look for a 4x8 GB kit instead of 2x2x8
and you should go with a B550 mobo
you're running a single gen 3 ssd, even B550 is more than enough
B550 can do 1 pcie4 x16 gpu, 1 pcie4 x4 ssd, 1 pcie3 x4 ssd, which is enough for most people
something i do actually actively use
would you prefer one with sata port on the bottom for cable management? i have a hard drive too so that was one of my considerations looking for a B550 board for myself
yes actually!
i was also thinking about my cpu choice and was thinking that it wasnt worth it
and that a 5600x would be more worth but im not sure
depends really, for gaming a 5600X is indeed much better value proposition
well the monitor i am getting is also the 4k variant
4K actually decreases CPU load relatively
because you're much more likely to GPU limited at 4K
yeah
which is why i was thinking about the 5600x
but im not too sure i would like to see some benchmarks tbh
but no one really posts cpu benchmarks at 4k not a large difference i know but my target fps on triple a is 60 and esports proabbly 1440p 144hz is very doable
hm, seems like there are no B550 boards that have a sata port on the bottom as well as a usb 3.2 gen 2 header
but there are plenty that have the usb 3.2 gen 2 header
so i was thinking about the 5800x as well if i do go down to 1440p for esports titles
alright ill look more into it if anything i dont mind one ugly cable
the gaming performance difference between 5600x and 5800x is negligible
and both will easily do multiples of 144 fps in esports
were you specifically looking for integrated wifi?
nah if im spending htis much definitely ethernet
just asking because you chose a wifi board
i didnt know if there was a non wifi variant of it mb i just picked it because of the frequency of the 220 it goes for on NE and amazon sometimes
is my choice of case fans alright?
Dont care too much for RGB to be frank nice to have but not necessary
the reasons you want to get a 4x8 kit is because
- the XMP validation on 2x8 kits is not guaranteed to work when you add 2 more sticks
- uncommon, but same model 2x8 kits are not guaranteed to have the same die type underneath (i believe corsair vengeance lpx does this more than others)
then again, XMP is never truly guaranteed, but it's more likely if you get a proper 4x8 kit
ah alright
you may also want to consider 2x16 as it performs better on the majority of boards due to memory topology
hm i thought zen 3 does much better with the quad channel
most AM4 motherboards daisy chain the memory traces so it takes longer to get to the first and third sticks than it does to get to the second and fourth
more latency
consumer platform does not have quad channel
it's dual channel even if you have 4 dimms, it's just 2 dimms per channel
if you're referring to the GN video, it's nothing new, it's called rank interleaving, and 2x16 gives you the same effect
dual rank vs. single rank, putting 2 single rank dimms in one channel basically gives you the effect of dual rank
so you could then consider this kit
reasons to go 4x8... mostly looks i guess
yeah might do that over the gskill cause of the slightly taller heatsink
although some boards have different topology so there is no penalty with 4x8
it's very slightly better
i mean, 2x16 is better than 4x8
every time i look back on my build i develop new concerns for compatibility and uses
cause of psu connectors, cpu at 4k what to get, etc
the board only has 8 pin cpu power so you will be fine
you only need more than 8 pins for extreme overclocking with exotic cooling anyways
so don't think too much about that
even the boards with 12-16 pin cpu power will run fine on 8
alright
having bios flashback ensures you can drop in your 5000 series chip without needing a 3000 chip to bios update
yeah its nice to have welcome on msi boards
i would strongly recommend the 5600X over the 5800X for 4K gaming
honestly, even the 3600 shouldn't bottleneck you at all
even if i were to drop down to 1440p i would have no problems right hitting the target 144fps on like COD and whatnot
mostly the reason to buy 5800X is if you're doing non gaming tasks on it as well
light streaming?
streaming you'll probably be using NVENC anyways
And CAD work shouldnt be a huge problem right
mainly for just 3d printing not HUGE projects
small bits and models at a time
as long as your projects aren't massive the 5600X will do fine
alright
but if you can afford the 5800X it doesn't hurt
ill consider it with availability tbh
i was thinking about the 5900x but i know i wont get it anytime soon tbh with how b&h did preorders and it being oos in miliseconds
also its a bit too much and unnecessary for what i do
not running vms or video editing etc
just cad work
looking at the 5600X + 3080 benchmark it shows around 155-160 FPS in warzone at 1440p
ultra settings
oh alright thanks!
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/8Kg9cT
dont mean to interrupt, feel free to ignore this for now, but would this be a good list for a friend's 1300$ budget?
whats a good budget wifi card
get a 5600X over a 3700X if you can unless the main priority is non-gaming
5600X is almost as good as 3700X in multi-threaded workloads and quite a bit better in gaming
alright i think im good for now cya thanks a lot for the help and nice amber pfp
ty!
although it's the wraith stealth and not the wraith prism
but the 5600X draws even less power than the 3600 so it should be fine
in any case, it'll at least be fine until he saves up $35 for a cooler
strongly recommend going the Cougar MX330-G Air instead
it's like $4 more and you get the same case with 2 more fans
they also have white leds if that matters
this board actually does have a hardware bios flash button
so shouldn't be any issues getting a 5600X in there
ty
so yeah as long as you don't mind being on the lookout for a 5600X go for it over the 3700X
other than that looks good

Hello everyone
I have a dillema, and wondering if I could get some recommendations or opinions on a motherboard question.
don't ask if you can ask your question, just ask it
ok
smh they should make that a rule
Ban anyone that asks the question if they can ask a question smh smh
that's a little bit harsh
:(
I am building a PC for my daughter and my choices for motherboards are the Gigabyte x570 AORUS master or the ASUS AMD AM4 Pro WS X570-Ace which is the better board for doing rendering, and graphic art, animation projects. Oh by the way I will be installing the Ryzen 9 CPU
is there a specific reason why those are your only choices?
first question, do you have more than 1 gpu or more than 1 gen 4 nvme ssd?
No just the ones I was leading towards plus I am trying to not go over my budget for the entire build. Do you have a better recommendation.
plus this is her first computer and she can always upgrade later if she needs to.
from what i know, x570 boards tend to be a bit overpriced if you dont need the features that they give, a b550 board would most likely be a better option
x570 aorus master is a nice lookin board tho
no I do not have more than 1 gpu
also, buying your daughter this nice of a first pc? where can i apply to be your son
any specific motherboard features you're looking for?
like the guy up there wanted a usb 3.2 gen 2 header
lol well she is going to collaege for computer animation and will be graduating next year so I wanted to give her a computer she could use for her projects.
ah fair enough I was 6 when I got my first pc so I wasn't doing any rendering just maplestory
So would I be bottle necking if I use 8 gigs of ram?
Not looking for anything other than a board with good speed lot of storage capability and that would be good for what she will be using it for.
i mean, i dont see why you wouldnt go for 16 gigs
so do you need more than 1 gen 4 ssd? @spare wraith
B550 boards can do 1 gen 4 ssd, 1 gen 3 ssd, and then multiple sata drives
X570 is useful if you intend to run multiple gen 4 ssd
but at that point you're looking at frankly absurd amounts of money on storage
just want to save you some money if possible
so the x570 is like overkill unless I intend on buying more ssd
Difference with 8GB and 16GB is a big one, but I wouldn't call it a bottleneck for lower end systems
Thank you this is what I needed to know.
yeah you can run a 2TB gen 4 nvme on a B550 board
computer animation sounds like it'd be very storage-intesive, no idea if thats true but if it is the SSD has a chance to not be used as much maybe
and then another 2TB gen 3 nvme
@brazen slate would I have a lower end system?
yes
Ok
but 16 gigs ois only like, another 10$
😔
ig ye
This my 1st build
yes it is very storage intensive
8gb ram only makes sense in builds under $200 budget nowadays
16GB to 32GB though 😔😔 30-50$ more
a lot of $200-300 pcs have 16gb ram
i dont think those kinds of budgets exist
It exists
thats when you go for a dell optiplex or smth lmao
How
It's called craigslist
