alright check it on both ends, they should be snug into their connection and refer to the manual if you need to know where it needs to be connected

It will definitely be recognized as a usb device if nothing is broken, and it should auto install necessary drivers once you plug it in.

it might be worth just picking up a cheap USB HDD enclosure and just pulling the drive, and seeing if you can access it via another machine

If it was already a windows formatted drive (FAT32 or NTFS) windows will be able to read it just fine

If it's from a mac or something, you'd need to connect it to another macos machine to be able to read it

If you connect it and the machine doesn't see the drive at all, it probably means that the HDD itself is dead, and that's why the machine it's in now won't boot up

the steamui.dll issue can be caused by a lot of different things, but generally it requires a full delete of any steam files that might already be installed, and trying again

#

and also making sure that you have the visual C redistributable installed as well, which you can find online or via microsoft directly

it has a bunch of application framework stuff that other apps rely on to install/run properly

SSDs are more reliable than HDDs actually

since there are no moving parts.

It's much more likely your HDD will crap out on you with clicks of death than an SSD just dying out of nowhere

I have a 7 year old SSD started using in 2013 in my computer right now that I haven’t used since 2016 reinstalled it yesterday. Works great. No data loss

oh so they asked me , hey can i use both the mother board and gpu ports. i was like hmmm i dont think that's recommended. and long story short his display only have hdmi ports. i told him his displays suck lol

Question for MSI motherboard compatibility: Crucial DDR4 --> (Newegg) BL2K16G36C16U4B vs (MSI compatibility page) BL16G36C16U4B.M16FE1 , Are these the same SKUs ? Because the MSI website doesn't list any Crucial sticks as being compatible otherwise
