gimme a sec
you're not gonna wait on the new cards??
i gotta be painfully honest
im cringing
the only thing i like is the psu
@little osprey
oh okay
i just changed my mobo
ASRock B550 Pro4 mATX
and im thinking of switching to NZXT 5101 i think is what it is
or just sticking with what i have
how bout a Gigabyte B450M AORUS ELITE
ok
and its rbg gang
ive considered that before lmaop
thats what i have currently and i love it
from gigabyte?
did u need to Bios update?
ah
im scared of buying used pc parts
i'd rather return it than have it brick my system
ya me too dont worry lmao your's is gonna be all new
theres thing in my head that someone fricked it up with a virus
ok
you can exchange it for higher quality and speed
but its not worth it imo
the biggest jump in perf is from 3000 to 3200
not so much 3600
and the ram you cant find in aus
pain
oh okay then find a nice deal on some ram ig
that ram is sick tho ngl
yeah
you'd still have like $400 to spare although that is without a gpu on the build i just sent
yeah
cause you could get a 2070s for the same price as a 2060s
or just save an extra $100 and buy a 3070 brand new
then the only thing lacking is the monitor
i feel peripherals should have different budgets since they have dont directly affect performance
thats what i did so after i bought my pc
i got a nice monitor
1440p 144hz
for like $260
i found like this pretty decent perifrirals like keyboard mouse and headset combo for like 60 Aud
i can spell
its RGB
yeah but like a monitor at 1080p for a 3070 is like choking it lmao
ikr
thats why i'd get a crappy one for now and save up
you cold probably go even cheaper than the one i just sent
lmaooo
thats a couple hundred more
ikj
ya so
i have to be careful with what i pick out
worry about long term
yeah
np yw
Can a pc not boot technically from the gpu if it doesn’t have a internet connection
can some one give me their thoughts on this - https://pcpartpicker.com/list/bQhsyk
sure
Different case, get a P1 500gb, that's my thoughts @wraith trail
and used GPU pricing is weird
sooo yea
ok
and one more question
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/CCFwTC what would i do if i want to upgrade this
You can keep the PSU and HDD, maybe hold onto the 1070 for a bit, everything else can get swapped out
unless you need 32gb of ram for something, single stick of 16gb is kinda icky
3600+cheapish b550 like a ds3h
wouldn't i need a higher frequency ram
not need, but preferred
thanks for you help
@wraith trail anyways ram situation wise, you can either buy another of the same stick, or buy 2x8gb of 3600c16 ram
ok
Yeah definitely get at least two sticks, whatever total capacity you go wiht
u have any case recommendation for the first list
At that price or more expensive?
that price or less
TD500 mesh or Meshify C or P400a for 100$ range
at 60$ or so, Focus G, P300a, and Mx330-g
yup was also gonna say Meshify C
ok thanks
Focus G is a chonky looking boi
not great looking
but it does come with 2 fans at a cheapish price
Oh hey if you actually do spend $500 on the gpu and that's not just weird used pricing. I would do the 3070 when it comes out
2 months or so tho
True
Definitely worth the wait
it would dramatically change what the pc is capable of
if you are spending 500$.
for the same price
yes
if you dont want to spend that much just keep the 10 series
but if you're already spending $500 my recommendation would be to wait for 3070 unless you need your pc now
hmm interesting
2080s are around 400$ bidding on ebay
a bunch were bought at 350$
or if you want to spend less you can find a 2070 Super for 350-400
Holy bruh, really?
You mean I just bought my 2080 Super for $700 and now they’re worth like, $400 at most?
and mines white
Bruhhhh
a hydro copper was sold at 400$
Hell
at 700 you coulda got the 3080
400-450 rn
is the psu good for AU
4k gaming at over 100fps AVERAGE
oof
those are sold items
so that's actual pricing
yea thats why all the youtubers are screaming at everyone to not buy gpus
not just being bid on
there are some starting bid 300$ but ofc it's not gonna be sold that low
thats why im sellin mine to try and get 3080
at least i can make half the 3080 price back when i sell it
spend only 350 to over double my performance sounds good to me
time to play MSFS 2020
yea thats what ive seen
nice
my main selling point is that mine is white lol
not that much depreciation after a year and a half eh
might make a little more
my duke oc looks thicc
so I might get a bit more for it
@sleek kraken what case is that?
Meshify C
yeah white components is a pain lol
I just want a white version of everything so I don’t have to stick with black :(
truuuue
but
the 3000 series founders edition cards look AMAZING
i just want a white one :/
and titanium is hard to paint
It would be really hard to powder paint or spray paint FE
because of the fins
It's like how most white cards still have the heatsink black, just a white shroud
yeah exactly
thats the one i have
i wouldnt paint the heatsink that would be near impossible
yea lol
i would paint the outer trim piece
the whole look of FE is nice heatsink imo
what
tryna get a good pic
some pics look either color
look up a YT vid or something
looks more bronze in that
too lazy :P
lol
but i was thinking about painting that outer silver/bronze part
the shroud design is all about the same
just smaller on 3080 and 3070
perfect
oh right
3070 is weird in terms of cooling
but shroud still looks like the rest
those look way darker
I think that's preproduction
look at all the Nvidia photos from the announcement
should i get this moniter
see how that picture doesn't have these?
oh u right
@earnest ravine way too expensive for 1080p imo
good eye
ok
yea
so like dark bronze
3070 - $500
3080 - $700
3070 500$, 3080 700$, 3090 1500$
yeah but u could save a couple hundred and just buy a 20 or 10 sereis
if u only need 1080p
YES
but dem ultra settings in fs2020
my thoughts exactly
Crysis RTX
You know how Crysis is getting a remake with RTX?
It's gonna take back the "but can it run Crysis"
3080 better run that no problem
ikr
yo JayzTwoCents just got a 3080
now we can check the color for sure haha @stoic island
lol
well at least he can show the color accurately
I see it
im thinking about getting 1660 super as my starter gpu is it a good gpu or should i get something else
oooo
Bitwit Ltt or gamers nexus
official unboxing
color good
1660s is good but wait for 30 series the price will prolly drop
ok
GN can get hard to watch the whole vid hahaha
Fax
It’s good in the beginning
lol
or read the article
both true
Then it gets bad
I like listening to the whole video at 1x when I'm playing a game or doing other stuff
Yea that’s tru mr1111
it's soothing
nice
GUYS
ooof
Bro noooooo
big OOF
everyone building again!!!
lol
thxs @stoic island
lol
If I had questions regarding hubs for fans, and stuff, where would I ask them
probs cooling
Any good builds with the nzxt h510? Rgb with 1000-1100 budget
Why h510 @little osprey
Lol that's much easier
Building now or later
Later later on
Like a year and a half I'd have to save to build
Lol nah yea within 2 months or so
When 3600 is back in stock at cheaper again this will fit in your budget...
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/tmWnWb
Ok thanks
Anyways come again when you have all your monies
Because market keeps changing yaknow
Ight will do
Yea kinda hard to make lists if your planning on taking some time b4 building
I'm on mobile rn so I'm too lazy to grab a cheaper decent psu :p
But you can save like 30$ there with like a cx650 or smth
Does the case come in black?
Yes
550w will run it :p
Ok thanks!
As long as the PSU has 2x pcie 8 pin and is 500w+ it should be fine
Lemme get 2 number 9's a number 9 large, a number 6 wit extra dip, 2 number 45's one wit cheese and a large soda
Get a 3100 for cpu
Aegis 3200c16 is 1$ cheaper, and I like gskill over team
And you could get a better psu but br is decent enough for cheaper builds
There is no aegis
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/yJ2Kyk @stoic island I changed the case color and added more storage
@odd crypt I'm sorry?
Is it worth adding 3600mhz ram or is 3200 good?
I thought the budget was 1100$?
3600mhz is worth, I only went 3200mhz in the first list to save monies
Anything else sir?
Oh ok well I'll upgrade to 3600mhz thanks for the list again appreciate it
That works, ignore pcpp yelling at you about bios update
What's the best 3600mhz ram for 16gb?
G.skill ripjaw v 3600c16 at 70$
Ok thanks
Best price to perf
Thanks 👍
"best" 3600mhz ram would be some ridiculous 3600c13 ram or something
That works
lol
Linux
Random question; I’m looking to upgrade the processor on my fiancé’s pc, and was wondering if you guy have any deal spot. She currently has an i5 6600, which means that 7th gen is the best I could slap in there. Thing is, the 7600 is kind of expensive for being 3 gens old at this point. I’d rather not swap out her whole motherboard/processor combo if i don’t have to...
ello
oh no links bruh lmao
i might buy this build i made and a 360hz monitor thoughts?
@timber swallow get a 10600k/10700k, 4000MT/s CL16 or 3600MT/s CL14 RAM, and potentially a 3080. Also what's with the large amount of RAM? If going workstation then go AMD. Can also save money on Win key that are like $15 instead of the $150+
ooooo THANK U
where can i get the win key
also im using this for modeling video editing comp fn mc val streaming rl ow
@cursive wharf ^
so it's gaming and workstation
win key: https://shawnix.company.site/
What's the priority for it?
how much modeling/video editing? Streaming is easy due to the NVENC encoder in the Nvidia GPU
And yeah
rather actually, what kind of modeling/video editing? Depending on that is whether you need 16gb / 32gb of RAM. 32gb of very high end RAM might be quite a pricy purchase
a little bit
i don't do it rn
cause idrk how to
but i wanna learn and for school im doing 3d modeling
like CAD stuff?
I assume more like 7 - 9 years? I'd take a guess after that long it'd feel like a garbage PC compared to what'd be out by then
yeha, high end RAM is expensive. Almost 3x as much as that standard RAM, gain about 6% - 10% perf on the high FPS (as in not CPU/GPU limited). Can get it cheaper if you know how to tune frequency and timings for RAM
super fast RAM give more perf for high cost.
can make decent fast RAM be super fast RAM if you're PC smart for less money
@timber swallow how over budget is this build? Do note that mobo is subject to change, I have little knowledge on Intel boards so idk what one is good.
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/7DYP27
Holy ram
lmao
well, plans for 360Hz display, RAM can get upto a 10% perf boost with no CPU/GPU bottleneck
lol
That's prob really good b die
oh
problem with 10600k, I think it has a worse IMC on average then 10900k
Eh, it's to be expected to be lower bin yaknow
OEM/retail allows for multiple reinstalls of the OS from an upgrade
if you upgrade your mobo Windows will count that as a reinstall
ohh
so OEM means if you upgrade mobo then you buy new OS
ok
also when you build it come back here so we can try to give you a basic CPU OC. That way RAM isnt as wasted, cuz without it it kinda is a waste
does that 2.5k budget include monitor?
yes
then spend it on that first
ook
360Hz display will be expensive
If you plan to go 240Hz, you can downgrade a fair few things tbh
I'd more then likely say switch over to AMD Ryzen for 240Hz as it gives enough perf to be close enough to the display refresh rate.
As for PSU, 750w isnt really needed. Should be fine with 700w. Considering you arent super into PCs I dont think you'll do a very large OC
you can, but it'll be worse
The SSD chosen in my list was the cheapest NVMe with good specs. You can go SATA and find a cheap and good SATA drive. Tho given you're doing a lot of work then idk about that
ive been in the pcpp discord all day too
that's how i got the first discord i showed u
the first list
not discord
im dumb lmao
eh, tis is fine. We are slowly getting through it
lmaoo
@cursive wharf what this mean The G.Skill Ripjaws V 32 GB (4 x 8 GB) DDR4-4000 CL15 Memory operating voltage of 1.5 V exceeds the Intel Comet Lake CPU recommended maximum of 1.35 V+5% (1.417 V). This memory module may run at a reduced clock rate to meet the 1.35 V voltage recommendation, or may require running at a voltage greater than the Intel recommended maximum.
xmp usually runs at 1.35V aka intel recommended
Intel only recommends so much voltage for the RAM. As it's very high end RAM it requires a lot of voltage, over Intel's recommended spec. However running 1.5v is still quite safe on a RAM stick or Intels IMC (Integrated Memory Controller) with a heatsink
and to get it to run at 1.35v it might run at a lower mhz like 3600 or something
depends on the die but yeah for good kits it should be fine at 1.5
isn't two sticks of 8gb of ram better than 4 of 4gb
@cursive wharf srry for so many pings lmao
yeah its preferred
Is this good? https://pcpartpicker.com/list/LZX6Gc
@timber swallow it would be 2x16gb vs 4x8gb in this case. While preferred the 2x16gb kits cost more, I went with the cheapest high performance kit available
Hei
hie
nuclear can u help me
ive got band rn sorry
@wraith trail just ask your question, if people want to help/know the answer/have the time. They will answer.

@night iron p600
What made you go with the color white? @wide sparrow
Uniqueness@night iron

Should I use PC part picker and post a link here to see if my build is good for Apex Legends PC?
Did someone @ me
Look it up.
I am planning on building a pc in the coming months essentially from scratch. I have a budget around 700 dollars and i think prolly gonna be buying most of the stuff on black Friday. any tips on what to get around that price range?
Okay @wide sparrow
building a pc for 144hz 2k gaming looking for a stable build.. thoughts? is this how you post here?
@bold glen advice given "now" is close to useless for buying at that point.
the link instead is preferred @small kraken :)
wdym
(look in the yellow box when you are editing the list)
that part @bold glen
2sec, that bug should have been fixed
the link you tried to post, was the right one
i didnt post a link
mmm it says that links are not allowed
sorry @bold glen my eyes are blind today :)
i meant @small kraken above :)
sorry about that
and give me a sec on the bot eating your link @small kraken
i have someone looking into it right now, for now, please send me the link, and i will post on behalf of you
@bold glen re: advice given now: Prices and parts will have changed to a fairly big degree by then.
Oh, we just need to also add ca.pcpartpicker.com
ok
@celest horizon and all the other countries too then
obviously
on behalf of @small kraken https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/list/WTGXCL
can anyone help me finish picking parts for a new build
smol case with feet
@granite delta not sure
I think there was a cheaper b550 mobo that ive seen but id need to check again
I mean that one is good
maybe
I say maybe because im not a product reviewer and dont have all these parts at my disposal lol
should I wait for cyber monday or you think it's a good deal now?
I just want your opinion
you're a smart lad
ASUS ChromeBox 2 i7-5500u 2.4GHz 4GB 16GB SSD Chrome OS Mini Desktop PC i want to upgrade ssd fro 16 gb to 120 gb, what is the part name?
any idea?
im assuming you are looking for a sata ssd? or does it have an m.2 slot? @plain cedar
@granite delta im going to look at that exact model give me a sec
m.2
tytytyy
i was looking and i saw m.2 2242ssd and also saw 2280 m.2ssd
which one is compatible?
im not sure id need to look it up
please check
@plain cedar is it an ASUS chromebox 2 (CN62)?
ASUS ChromeBox 2 i7-5500u 2.4GHz 4GB 16GB SSD Chrome OS Mini Desktop PC
@granite delta the mobo doesnt look too bad
what would you recommend for around that price range?
Brand:
ASUS
Connectivity: HDMI
RAM Size: 4 GB Processor Speed: 2.4 GHz
Model:
CHROMEBOX2-G015U
Processor: Intel Core i7 5th Gen.
SSD Capacity: 16 GB Storage Type: SSD (Solid State Drive)
Form Factor: Mini Pc MPN:
CHROMEBOX2-G015U
UPC:
Does not apply
why chromebook
@plain cedar 2242 is generally for laptops
ok
its a shorter standard for the same connector
i have chrome box mini pc
Brand:
ASUS
Connectivity: HDMI
RAM Size: 4 GB Processor Speed: 2.4 GHz
Model:
CHROMEBOX2-G015U
Processor: Intel Core i7 5th Gen.
SSD Capacity: 16 GB Storage Type: SSD (Solid State Drive)
Form Factor: Mini Pc MPN:
CHROMEBOX2-G015U
UPC:
Does not apply
i wrote all model and everything
<- see the screws there
the connector is on the right, and the 3 screws are for the 3 sizes :)
i think it is 2 inch
@granite delta I dont have any recommendations because I havent bought one before but Id think it would be an good enough motherboard for most people but it is also a M-atx mobo so keep that in mind if you are getting a mid tower aka ATX case it might look odd in a big case
okie
so many weird brands for m.2 2242 ssds
looking for some on amazon/newegg
https://www.newegg.com/p/1Z4-0015-000V6?Description=m.2 2242 128gb&cm_re=m.2_2242 128gb-_-9SIA6ZPAZY9289-_-Product this was the only one I could find that is a recognizable brand
but its overpriced for $128gb
are there any good sides on having more than one pcie slot?
this pc appears to be cloud based with the only drive just for boot. is that correct? if so, why are u upgrading the storage? is there something you absolutely need offline?
the mini pc^
@plain cedar
@granite delta fitting more stuff
this one is a bit better
for price
I mean it isnt incredibly fast but is somewhat fast
@granite delta gpus, wifi cards, capture cards, m.2 drives, etc
^
ok
I guess but sli is kinda dead
i mean x16 in most cases doesnt even get half filled. its really just better for splitting bandwidth
Uh
very specific
idk if you could fit that into 940$ without getting some things a bit cheaper
which list should i get? lance said the white
build since the other one would be harder to transfer into an aesthetic build https://pcpartpicker.com/user/KrayyonHD/saved/dGTzf7 for a 3070 or https://pcpartpicker.com/list/mLwGWb for a 3080
build check please... More ram? different mobo? haha no way i meant to take that off
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/YKRJvW this the build fellas
hello again @small kraken sorry for you getting lost in the shuffle earlier
checking your build over atm
no worries.. revised the build a bit. i think itll work well .. just loooking to game at 2k 144.. my worries would be mobo and ram
@vital warren when your cpu cooler is more than the mobo lol
i would personally go with 2* 16 of the ripjaws, they are 160-ish vs the 105-ish for the 2 *8 kit
ok i just didnt want to go over kill .. but i like it
cl 16 is clock speed? turnover speed.. should i try different ram? i was just keeping it low profile with less rbg..
CL 16 is Cas Latency
simple answer: just nod your head and say yes

as for the PSU, i would recommend that you grab something like this
i am personally very much NOT a fan of the CXM you had on there
as for the mainboard, its solid @small kraken
but do remember, you can get a windows license for a good deal less than what you have on the list.
Alright thanks a lot for your help.. here it is .. maybe the B550 mobo idea? my friend steered me away from it 😒 . but it will work with the gen 2 usb-c on the case. does it that even matter? is using an adapter on the x570 janky? it says compatibly issue.
@small kraken what did your friend say was wrong with b550?
Also, pretty sure DRP4 comes with thermal paste
unless it doesn't..?
too tired
nothing really he just said x570 is newer better
lmfao did he say x570 works with gen 2 usb-c on the case?
noo he sug a cheaper case
because there isn't any USB 3.1 headers on the mobo
Yea cheaper case
I agree with cheaper case tbh
@small kraken tell him B550 released after x570 released
kk
like a few months earlier if he wants to be technical about that
newer doesn't mean better anyways
its all good
What's the use for the PCIe 4.0 drive?
btw with cases, I'm a guy that slaps in a TD 500 mesh, and if people want a different case, as long as it looks like it has airflow, go for it.
td500 mesh is just so good in most situations :P
am i making good use of that corsair drive
I'm asking you that
because most people won't
Unless you're doing huge file transfers daily for some reason
SN750/MP34/other decent NVMe drive with dram works
970 is usually overpriced as heck
noted
Anyways I'd go with B550 if I hadn't said that yet
Coolermaster TD500 mesh is good
the mp600 IS a nice drive
Just not for the average user
but as Mr1111 is saying, it kinda needs to have a use
yea i just want a solid gaming rig
i generally overlook it when it is in a list, because i DO have a use for it
so i see it as normal :)
Naed, what do you do that uses one?
simulation and vm work
hmm it must've been someone else I was thinking of that had a setup for audio stuff
Yea I was curious because I assume you could make use of it with lots of audio
aye, anything that requires a nice amount of moving actual data
Question
@small kraken at a glance, the sx8200 pro is the cheapest decent drive with dram
https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/product/zR3H99/adata-sx8200-1-tb-m2-2280-solid-state-drive-asx8200pnp-1tt-c
silly answer?
Naed don't tell me you've caught the silly
I got like 200-250 for ram, cpu (amd), and a psu lol
its 04:52 in the morning, what do you think?
How do I make it work
Fair enough, seemed like a weird time considering you normally say you're getting off for the night at like 7pm et
Do you need iGPU or just a CPU
you search for muppet chef, and then you repeat what he says until it works.
🛌
It's doable with 3100+aegis 3200c16+BR500
Like the Swedish chef from muppets?
~210$ I believe
The rock?
that would be Chief
3100 has stock cooler :D
Anyways Naed, Good night to the both of us, you should try to get back in bed if you can :P
Gn guys lol
but but, factory must grow!
You must seize the means of production!
It is a duty bestowed upon you by the Factorio gods!
Well, have a good rest-of-the-morning
likewise
When you just spent all your money upgrading your CPU and mobo and now the new Graphics cards come out but your too poor to afford one

Omg
@vivid flume is my friend
Hello, I'm Making my first build and my plan was to use a EVGA 650 GQ but it's been out of stock for ages. Now my plan is to use a EVGA 750 GQ. I think they are the same size. You guys think I can switch them out?
Oh, thx 😅
Hello can any help me do a build on pcpartpicker for a gaming and streaming pc 900$ or less
I cant help with pcpartpicker but I know newegg has pc build lists for that price range if you are interested.
Ok thanks I’ll check it out
Hello, Im new around here, Hoping you might help me with some advice on choosing a graphics card for my HP ELITE C2D. It has a Pentium (R) Dual core CPU E6600@ 3.6ghtz. I upgraded Ram cards to 8 GB.
[1:52 AM]
Thank you for your time.
You're gonna have to stick to a card that doesn't need external power and uses < ~35 watts
If you upgrade the psu, you could get the rx580 or equivalent
Guys I really need help.I'm Making my first build and my plan was to use a EVGA 650 GQ but it's been out of stock for ages. Now my plan is to use a EVGA 750 GQ. I think they are the same size. You guys think I can switch them out?
Yes @long bear
what do you guys think of this build?
3D Artist, prop modeling for video games, with a budget of $800, I still need to purchase keyboard, mouse, and monitor
I will be using photoshop, substance painter, zBrush, 3DS Max, Maya, Blender, Unity Engine, Unreal 4, 5
Can’t see the build
Yeah you can lol it's in the link
I don't think you need an x570 mobo
You wouldnt be gaining anything from it
B550 is cheaper
And if you're going AMD it's better to get 3600 ram
Like this
https://pcpartpicker.com/product/jBZzK8/gskill-ripjaws-v-16-gb-2-x-8-gb-ddr4-3600-memory-f4-3600c16d-16gvkc
I just overclocked mine to 3600
@worn hatch I have several questions about your post in #build-pics
- is that a Malm desk?
- are you using the cable management tray with that Malm desk?
- which monitor arm is that, and are you using it as a clamp mount?
@tame copper that build looks sick bro
Especially since it’s your first and cable management is good
@cinder tusk pls dont get a 1650 with a dual core
you need a new cpu before gpu
would just get an older prebuilt and slap a 570 in it
with a 3rd gen i5
It's like a school computer lol
Hey everyone! So I have been debating ever since the reveal of the new RTX cards whether or not I should buy one. I have an RTX 2070 Super in right now and the only question I have is will it fit? I have an NZXT H500 case and an ASRock Steel Legend X570 motherboard. I noticed there is BARELY enough clearance between my card and the back I/O ports on the board. Do you think 3080 would fit width wise?
to this i ask, do you actually need a 3080? because then it warrants the questions of how and where to sell your 2070 super; do you game enough on hard titles to run; what resolution do you play at; will the 3080 even be a valid enough upgrade for you to go to that after your 2070 super and furthermore, which 3080 are you getting if you were to get one cause the sizes differ from manufacturer to manufacturer
and to add not even to gaming, but would you even use the 3080 for other applications such as streaming/creatives/workstation
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/ptGnt6 https://pcpartpicker.com/list/QTNgbv which one is better
Well I play esports for a college and I was thinking about getting a 4K monitor because I think I am going to get the Xbox Series X also. I play Microsoft Flight Sim 2020 on my free time but I also play Call of Duty and eventually the new Call of Duty when that launches. I might start to stream also and for some class I am going to need to render some videos for an animation class I am taking. I am more worried about my motherboard clearance than anything else. I just think for $700 it would be a good deal. I also have a couple people already interested in my 2070 Super for their builds. @autumn wolf
for esports i presume youre playing at 1080p which, a 2070 super is more than fine. dont know what you plan to use the 4k monitor for though i assume not high competitive gameplay but will say a 3080 would be better than a 2070 super for it, the titles you mentioned, a 2070 super is fine. streaming, both are fine unless nvidia just comes out with a new nvenc for the 30 cards, and for rending, a 2070 super is fine as well unless youre doing some serious animation of larger projects
for clearance, again, that all depends on which model 3080 you go with
and what you have in your case already
width of the card is fine, length of the card is what you should be worried about
I would just be getting the founders edition if anything because that's what 2070 super I have.
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/ptGnt6 https://pcpartpicker.com/list/QTNgbv which one is better
for the length of the card, the 3080 will fit assuming you dont have a rad in the front
@ someone
Can I get some feedback on my 4k 60hz AAA Build? My first SFF build, so I'm pretty excited. I plan to use a 2080 TI or 3080 depending on price, availability, and benchmarks. I believe either FE version will work. pcpartpicker.com/list/pKRKCL
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/ptGnt6 https://pcpartpicker.com/list/QTNgbv which one is better
@ someone
on behalf of @mild trout https://pcpartpicker.com/list/pKRKCL <- see above for his question.
@earnest ravine only one of those is actually a machine.
one has a mainboard and cpu, the other ... not so much
so back to the planning stage you go :)
@foggy hazel big takes aways were length is the only concern so triple check that, and 3080 would be a better choice for 4k.
all dimensions of the GPU matter for the m1
because it is that "tight" a build.
but yeah, reviews and going to be quite illuminating for figuring out which card type you can actually use
the 20xx cards will fit, that is not the challenge :)
ya
its a question how the 30xx FE cards cooler will behave that i am personally very curious about
most of the 3080s outside of the ones i listed most likely wont fit due to height
behave in a case like that is my point.
yea
aye, the vendors seem to be going bonkers in all dimensions this time around
then again, it IS a fair deal of heat
probably be safer to grab a normal cooler until we can get how info how they work
we should have all the info we need by the 15th
What is the height of the card? The distance from the PCI port to the top of the card or the ports to the opposite end of the card?
sligerjack said they were gonna get cards to test with their cases so hopefully that should give us some info
from pcie connector and "up"
^
from the ports to the "end" is the length
and yes, it makes bugger all logical sense
but for height im talking about thickness
example: the 3090 FE is 3 slots "thick"
isn't that considered the width?
and it is normal height (it does not seem to go above the bracket
and M1 can do <2.5 slots?
depends if its vertical mount, if the card is laying flat it would be height
thickness = width = number of slots it takes up
Nachos, you do know what the m1 is right?
yes
ok :)
m1 supports 317mm dual slot gpus
aye
@foggy hazel 😏
pcpartpicker.com/list/kHXysk can someone tell me if this is good. (replace 2070s with 3070)
also on a related note on the m1 topic heres a wip list for compatibility in the m1 https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1E94FbF5jPqeyPATUQOTzgY82_sJUpEWIsZKHQI0dIhg/edit#gid=1365900885
@stone meteor whjats the purpose of the build?
Im going to video edit, game stream, and play games
@foggy hazel do you have any suggestions on a case similar to the M1 that would provide a little more flexibility? After measuring out the 304 the box design has lost its luster.
Mostly video edit
@mild trout sm560
@mild trout the 304 is the gateway for that segment, and the only one that is reasonably priced imo
Major question, when are you planning to build, and what's upper limit of budget? @stone meteor
so back to that other build ur spending a lot on looks and get at least a 3070
the rest are, just like the m1, quickly going into the exotic
Probably around black Friday @stoic island
just wait then
Then I'd wait to make the final list until about that time
AMD 4th gen chips should be coming soon
ye
1-1½ week before then
Ok thx guys
its not that we dont want to make a build list, but it is just a bit of a pointless thing right now :)
yea
@stone meteor anyways some advice based on the list you sent so far, try to get 3600mhz cl16 ram not cl18, a good NVMe SSD like SN750 500gb or MP34 512gb, and ion+760w or other good PSUs might be cheaper
Idk if you do video editing wouldn't you want more storage?
@stoic island okay! Thank you!
Also, a decent motherboard that comes included with wifi like a X570-plus wifi is going to be cheaper than buying a wireless adapter+board
or is it being stored on the cloud
Cloud
usually video editing is a fast ssd and cloud
and I doubt you need an ethernet card, most motherboards have 2.5g ethernet
I also have a 8tb external hdd
@toxic plume fractal 804?
7200rpm i think
External storage is external storage, it is what it is
@toxic plume fractal 804?
@foggy hazel yep. Thinking about tossing a 1tb SSD in for an l2arc as well
running the asrack c2550
would not be a bad idea, you seem to be running full drive setup
"asrack c2550" <- that is not a name you see around here normally
Is this a good 700$ budget
they are lovely boards, just a shame about that bug they found in the cpu
what bug?
Example somewhat improved list @stone meteor
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/kBb2gJ
@deep skiff @toxic plume https://www.servethehome.com/intel-atom-c2000-series-bug-quiet/
that one
did i say cpu?, i did. that is my mistake.
Just an example of what I believe should be changed
hm
mine actually had that bug, and asrock replaced the board free of charge
so basically it makes the product fail?
out of warranty too
its a shame it happened, because intel has not really done anything quite like that family since then
good on asrock :)
and ofc good for you :)
side note: have you seen this one? https://www.asrockrack.com/general/productdetail.asp?Model=EPYC3451D4I2-2T#Specifications
thats for you @toxic plume
I will say asrock has had some of the most willing, and helpful support i've encountered.
dual OCulink
8i's that is
re: asrock: especially on their more "unique" boards, i have never had a problem with them
as in, they honor warranty above and beyond
Man, that is one "epyc" board. But i honestly think way too much overkill for home use.
Plus, i'd have to start using backplanes and expanders, and i just don't feel like dealing with all that.
oh yes :D
the 804 is already a beefy container for a home system
the next logical step would be to get a small rack and hide it away somewhere
@deep skiff I’ll check out the sliger in just a few
was runnin the 304 for ~4 years, so here's to hoping the 804 lasts another 4
level1techs (Wendel) has a review of it
the case itself wont go anywhere @toxic plume :)
@foggy hazel I remove these screws to attach the ergotron right?
the sliger is nice but kinda expensive, nr200p is pretty solid too and much cheaper
aye
thats the vesa mount screws @mild trout
also, on the topic of GPU measurement
is d1/2 depth?
d2= backplate
Looks like D1 is heatsink (and d2 backplate)
D1 = pcb+cooler
yea but does the d stand for depth or is it just unrelated
Fair enough
its depth/thickness
however, it is generally in your interest to use the combined D1+D2 number
because if that fits, the actual card will fit
I think D1 is just useful for checking if it blocks other PCIe slots
aye aye
Are there cases where D2 would matter other than vert mount?
there are also "some" abominations that have a fairly thick D2
ah
because ofc there is
@foggy hazel you available to video chat? The orientation on the mount is a bit confusing
aye, give me a moment
You'll have to use DMs btw
Tloc, that command is disabled in this channel.
Dm me if this is even good https://pcpartpicker.com/user/Guccigamer25/saved/#view=ffPQ6h
says permission denied
@foggy hazel i pretty i put the wrong code because those part list arn't even mine
that's whatever list you clicked "edit" on last
or the last list you were editing
Is this any good? Also what would be a good water cooler for the cpu?
that was what @earnest ravine posted
interesting
kinda weird
@pliant wren link plz? Gotta see price to see if it makes sense.
https://newegg.io/0aa0ffa doesn't include the graphics card which is $500, the cost of some of these parts might be cheaper for me, i only used newegg to organize everything together
Yea alright as expected 970evo and 860evo are both overpriced
@pliant wren I'd go with something like a MP34/SN750/SX8200 pro or similar for the NVMe SSD
and you could just grab another P1 1tb for extra storage
anyone have a 3rd Gen i5 CPU layin around, that you want to sell?
can you link where i can get those ssds the cheapest @stoic island
No selling on this server @cinder tusk
