Okay got it in
the motherboard manual doesnt say the layout for the fpanel
I have an Ethernet cord
but this is what it should be like
This list look a bit too confusing
ah ok
Whatās a windows download usb stick? Lol I shouldāve done more research
lol it holds your os
Well u download ur os from it
8+*
I donāt, but I do have access to another computer
Hmm
Iāll pick one up tomorrow, dang I thought I had everything ready lol
well we can finish putting it together
and check to see if it boots
we can still get into the bios
Sounds good
U can still head into bios
bios tells you about your computer and has a lot of changable stuff
like you can overclock from there
The mobo os type thing
its the on board os
I wouldnāt oc tho
gpu is last
U got the SATA cables in you mobo?
Good
this is how you should plug in the cables and they should be labeled
The hdd activity led part is jus bs
On this is on the motherboard?
^
Am I going to be using the caseās wiring or the PSUās?
yup I just read it and its the same as the layout I sent
It says f panel
this is the cases wiring
Right there
Okay thanks one second
U got it?
it does take a moment especially if u have bigger hands
Almost done lol these things are tiny
Yeah true
Nice
Hd audio
yea is there audio cord?
There has to be
Yeah my last wire from the case is āHD AUDIOā
Left bottom
^
Thanks one sec
Yo @ripe wedge Imma head out its getting late at my place u keep on helping him, @long stag good luck w the build mate! Hope it turns out great!
yea cya
Thanks man ! Thanks for the help
My b itās taking longer than anticipated I was trying to have better cable management but now Iām having to twist the wire so Iām going to go back to where it was
ah ok so next
you can pull out the graphics card finally
do you know if it is a single slot or two slot?
depending on this you will want to either remove one or two of the back panel covers where the gpu slides into
you will want to use the top pcie slot (the slot the gpu goes into)
Prolly 2
anyone know why my pc is making a high pitched chirping sound?
Prolly a bird in there mate
is it while you are playing?
Itās a bird Iām telling ya
lol
no it just does it randomly throughout the day
Itās screeching for help mate help it
@hearty mist im trying to get help and be serious can you please stop
mine does it sometimes coil whine but it is a normal thing to happen but it could be something else
I honestly have no idea what it is u gotta go more detailed on the problem bro
Lmao the bird
ok so you got the gpu out?
Make sure u donāt have any in urs
no
@stoic lichen o sorry im talking to dirtylilpigboy
?
ah thats a two slot
two prongs on the bottom but also the thiccness
Gotcha
make sure you press down that little black thing on the end of the pcie slot
that holds the gpu in place
then you will want to screw the gpu into place on the case
Gotcha okay so Just to double check Iām putting this part in?
o
Lol I was confused on the sides
lol
card should go in pretty easily and the io should line up with the pieces you took off the back
Got it okay on it
also it looks like you will only need one of those 6+2 pcie cables
if this is the same card which you said 1660 ti
and I see it has the msi cover on it
i dont think it is
well they should be similar
My screwdriver might be too big RIP
u have this one right?
should still be an 8 pin
ye
Itās 8
No thumb screws :/
well just take one of those screws and screw it in with your thumb lol
or take a penny
or some coin
and screw it in
or ya know... a screwdriver
š
well some places are hard to reach lol
Itās like really tiny, I canāt unscrew the cover off
oh i forgot. he might have a swiss army knife that hopefully has a screwdriver
Alr imma go for good now catch ya later
Nooo
oh geez
we are talking about the case
Oh good thing my screw driver was too big lmao
the back of the case
Ohhhhhhhhh
Did u even take the pcie cover off?
if u try to fit the gpu into the pcie slot and u notice it hits the back of the case remove the part of the case it hits
then reuse those screws on the gpu mount
Ai peace gn
cya
this cover needs to come off
yes
good
Would I need a y splitter 1 to 2 for 3 fans?
and for this one the blue arrow is where the graphics card should go and the red are the covers you need to take off
now did u take the red arrow things off?
Okay about to take the cover off
@delicate sail there are only so many fan headers on a motherboard
I think 2 on most motherboards
2 for system and 1 for cpu
my case came with a hub
lucky
Bruh
Now I just pop the GPU in?
On it
and make sure to move that fan cable out of the way just tuck it under the fan for now inbetween the motherboard and fan
yours do look strange
I donāt see any screws and donāt wanna accidentally break it
they pop off
usually they come off one slot at a time
you have to bend them off
they are like that on cheaper cases
thats how my coolermaster mb320l was
Yep using a cooler master
u get them off?
Almost
you are supposed to take them off before you put the motherboard in but they can come off with the mobo in
so š¤·āāļø
Yeah the mobo is getting in the way
Almost got them
Got it
Bent the metal in between them slightly tho
Itās even for the most part
Will do
u get it in?
Should it click in?
yes
Doesnāt seem to want to go all the way down
but its not a huge click
Got it
did u open the tab on the right hand side of the slot?
did you move back the black thing?
yea the tab
you just press down on it
its on the end of the pcie slot
Iām not 100 about the tab but I canāt pull the GPU out now
Let me try to remove it and check
ah ok yea good to check
Thereās only the one tab right?
Itās in
On it
let me know once youve screwed it into place
ok now do u have the power cable with the 6+2 pin connector?
that will go in the side of the card facing outwards
Dope thereās this extra wire should I just hide it?
Also I have an RBG strip can I just plug that into the RGB header?
discord died for me lol
is the connector like .... or . ..
oh ok its just rgb
yea so the one side that looks like like something goes in is the side
u good
hold on let me look at the manual
do u have modular psu or no?
4
the rgb header
this is the motherboard manual
it looked to be non modular @unborn solstice
those are probably less confusing for beginners but once u realize u dont need like 5 molex connectors theyre pretty annoying lol
Just double checking I should just hide these?
yea thats useless for you
dope
thats useless for everybody
Okay putting the RGB in and then we can test it out
yep
yep
is this your first boot or were u just installing a new gpu?
first boot
oh ok
his first pc build
then it might turn on and off a couple times. dont freak out
so lets hope he won the silicon lottery
or it might take a minute to post
post meaning like get to the splash screen where it says asus
for rgb? @long stag
Yeah lol I canāt seem to find it
I was looking at that but what is 3
up near ram
now for the really stressful part
Okay about to put the panels back on
Lol okay about to plug in then
š
thats good
Let me plug in the hdmi
eh
yep
Hmm the hdmi is detecting that itās connected to anything
not*?
u gotta plug into gpu
try a different slot on the gpu
wait
nvm
it only has 1 hdmi
just let it run for a min
are all your lights and fans going?
what is the light on the mobo
Alright bros on a scale of 1-10 how good is the GeForce GTX 1660 Super?
wait are there like 4 leds on the mobo and one is lit
they say stuff under/next to them?
send pic
im guessing the 24
Alright bros on a scale of 1-10 how good is the GeForce GTX 1660 Super?
6/10
Iām installing it rn so Iāll let you know @clear fjord
Oh ok
Okay let me check the 24
oh ok thats a good led
@clear fjord its a good card for 1080p gaming
Ya thatās what ima be doing so
look up some reviews for it /performance benchmarks
Itās with a ryzen 7
not good that his fans arnt spinning
ah then it will be fine
ryzen 7 is powerful enough
even 1st gen ryzen
The 24 pin is in all the way I believe
Ok thx Iām new to this so Iāll probably need your guys help š
i meant good led as in its not a troubleshooting one
Youāre in good hands @ripe wedge has literally just help me build my first PC
wait
ive helped my other friend build before too
i know
With some help from simp
maybe
And some other guy who is gone
@unborn solstice what ya thinkin
try plugging the other 6+2 in
Ya this is mine first too Iām waiting for the ssd to come in
o yea for the cpu power?
Pcie is GPU?
worth a try
im aware
š¤·āāļø I guess try it
Iāll just plug it in anyways only thing we got so far
so the 24 pin should be in charge of the fans and stuff while the 8 is for supplemental cpu power
so if it was a cord issue it woukd probably be that but theres no sense in not checking both
Okay, also I canāt get the first 6+8 out itās in there tight
Okay will do
Okay dumb question how do I get this thing out
Rip okay Iāll be a little more forceful with it
but be careful not pulling by plugs
grab it by the plastic not the wiresp
yea not by wires I mean
Is there like a clip I need to push or anything
Reason: Bad word usage
It wonāt move lol
did u feel like u forced it on when u first installed it?
is there a clip?
Lmao how did I do that
i thought yhat too but zoom in
couldnt see it cuz had to full size image lol
yeah lol
its on right
Okay Iāll keep trying to get it off
but not clicked in all the way
Maybe it being so hard to take out in indicative of an issue
Should I push it in more?
Okay on it
Idk if it clicked but it moved a little
No fan movement when I turn it on
;/
thinking
Also if yāall are busy no need to stay ! I feel guilty lol
Finally got it out
Why was that so difficult
Should that pin look like that?
kinda blurry but is the metal on the inside not there on that one?
is the metal stuck on the pin on the board?
Is there actually a wire in the socket?
I thought that was normal hold up
https://www.reddit.com/r/pcmasterrace/comments/98a4mc/the_24_pin_power_connector_of_my_power_supply/
Look at it from the other side where the wires are clamped in
its normal
o dang
You were right thereās no wire there
i never noticed that
mine had one missing too but it worked fine
shouldnt it be a 23 pin then?
I suppose
Yeemt
Should I just plug it back in and maybe that would fix it?
I mean wouldnt hurt
shouldnt unless one pulled loose from the back
yep shouldnt affect it
i have class in 6 hours and i cant sleep. this sucks
hmm
Donāt stay up for my sake
I have a laptop unfortunately
o
F
was gonna suggest using a psu from another system
could just be a bad psu
doesnt seem like anything else would be plugged in wrong
Dang, just ordered this thing too
what brand/model?
Should I get a different psu
its a thermal take something right?
ooh thats a nono
lol
yea I would get something like an evga 450W bronze
C4
or like a corsair cv450
Ohhhh so when that dude said it was a bomb he meant literal bomb earlier
Evga br cxm 450
Lmao
cuz they can work fine for some people
Don't bring Thermaltake smarts to class, lest you be arrested for terrorism
I recommend the corsair CV450 or like a evga br 450
its bad to buy below bronze
most of the small wires go to the mobo anyway
Forsure, and how much wattage
450 minimum
power efficiency
theyre efficiency ratings
Efficiency, doesn't mean too much in terms of quality
Gotcha
each one is like a 2% difference
but also thermal take doesnt make good psus
psu so smart it stopped itself before it had a chance to blow up
ah ok thats good
if it was new its the 3600 but they still sell the 2600
it would have been around $110 range probably
the 3600 is around $160 range
Gotcha, yeah I got the cheaper one I think
Was on a budget
Obviously that screwed me bc if this stupid PSU lol
Would getting 600 be fine too? Or is it overkill
A bit
Gotcha thanks
500 watts can run pretty high specs
For single CPU single GPU, and normal amount of peripherals/drives
Thatās good to know Iāll probably just get 500ish then
Gotcha Iām looking for some rn
fps, like time, is relative
Like flight sim with 1080p
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-SwF7vRewfQ @clear fjord
Nvidia GTX 1660 Super vs RTX 2060, 1080p Gaming
Gigabyte GeForce RTX 2060 6GB
ZOTAC GeForce GTX 1660 SUPER 6GB
intel core i7-8700K OC
Games:
āŗ 00:01 - Gears of War 5
āŗ 00:58 - Control
āŗ 02:03 - World War Z
āŗ 03:00 - Far Cry New Dawn
āŗ 04:02 - Assassin's Creed Odyssey
āŗ 05:1...
flight sim wont be great
but it will be alright
because flight sim is hard to run
Well this is like my fist so I can always upgrade the pc to like a better gpu I wonāt be running flight sim on ultra high graphics I just want to to be smooth you know?
*first
Lol donāt wanna have to replace another battery so Iām just going to buy the one you sent
Jake could you read mine?
Just made the purchase thanks for the help today @ripe wedge
Also thank you @unborn solstice
Ok thank you
yea it will
I can play gtx max settings like 70 fps on a ryzen 3 1300x /gtx 970
1080p
50-70
Ok thank you

neither the sentence or the logic makes a lick of sense @little osprey
ok
yo
need a case
that has
3 x 120mm on front to mount my 360mm rad, 2/3 x 120mm on top, 1 x 120mm on back - Fans
Be able to vertically mount my gpu (if i need to buy a bracket then i dont mind)
RGB to shine, want it looking hot
got a budget of £250

@ripe wedge u guys finish the build?
@rustic sandal what u need
I need a mini itx case for around $50, but at least one rgb fan if possible. I could buy more though if needed. Also need help cutting down this list
Whatās like the cheapest 1tb hdd
lower rating as well?
Also itās 34 now for the wd blue
but beware CXM has coil whine issues
its micro atx. not mini itx
ohhh oops
adorable so smol
for only $2 more you can get a T force vulcan SSD, which has dram
dram is like ram but with a d
got it
why do you want mini itx
just get the 3600x at that point lol
oh yeah. 3600X only like $10 more or smth
why tho
and Iām just gonna build a mini pc, bc I have a super compact zotac 2060
Try to make some money
So what mobo should I get and what case
the smol nzxt one
you can still use the mini 2060 in a normal size build
I know but Iāve never built a mini
should I just forget it and build normally
maybe a micro build but not mini
i really dont like mini itx
too compact, too expensive
true
si
build a cadboard box
it wont. its still dual fan
have to level up to 3, or you can just remove the http:// part
do you need wifi?
ur list is 1023 without the gpu, whats the total cost
so whats the total amount you wanna spend on this pc
i noticed you went for a 1080p monitor. what gpu were you thinking about getting?
3000 series
why
like which 3000 series
we know very little about these gpus, they technically havent even been officially announced by nvidia
also its a bit smarter to get a 1440p monitor if you're getting a 3000 series card
if you have the budget and you want 1440p gaming then go for it
or, get a cheaper card and stick with a 1080p monitor
which, on his budget, and considering it was also a 240hz monitor, is the better idea
1440p 240hz is way to expensive
thoughts on this?
obv you can get whatever case you want
and the gpu is just what i would suggest if you were to buy it rn
@cloud oasis
1080p on 27 inches looks mediocre
the difference between 240 and 280hz wont be very noticable
thats a good psu, but it just costs more for little benefit
motherboard is fine, but once again, your paying an extra 40 dollars for not much
the A80 is alright, gut the extra 3 dollars for the MP34 is definetly worth it
you cant post links here btw
there ya go
Here's my build list. I'd like to do some podcast editing and streaming on it, and in the future I'd like to do some overclocking.
I would appreciate feedback!
ryzen doesnt overclock very well
sticking with PBO2 actually performs better in some cases than a manual oc
Do you think I should go with an intel k series instead then?
are you looking to overclock for funsies, or for performance
I'm pretty new to this, so just for funsies
nice
the issue is that, going with a comparable intel chip, while wanting to overclock will cost you another 200 minimum

the 10600k is 100 dollars more than the 3600
z490 boards are 50-100 dollars more than their amd counterparts
INTEL
and the intel cpu doesnt come with a cpu cooler
Yeah if I did that I would have to go without some of the other nice things on the list
yeah
I think I'll stick with AMD for now so I can still get the other goodies
however, the 3600x is only 7 dollars more
x
Now that's an avengers level threat
As everyone here knows, the true key to performance is Rainbow RGB
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/XzX7zN doesnt have a gpu cause i heard new gpus coming soon if they dont then i waited unneeded time lol
@karmic anchor please keep the jokes to #general-chat
better perfs
the ssd you picked was mediocre for the price, especially with the MP34 being only 6 dollars more for better perf
for gaming
like 4 fps
Cool cool thanks
lol
they both perform about the same but 2070 or 2060 super works much better for streaming
@little osprey because it is a different price bracket.
oh well
Yeah I went for the Sapphire Pulse edition because I've heard those are the best/most consistant
and the ram i changed to has better latency, something that really helps ryzen chips due to their terrible memory latency
yeah, sapphire makes some solid cards
tho
and no @next kestrel 5600xt is competing with 2060 (not the Super variant)
I'm going to stick with the B550 mb though I think, unless there is a reason I shouldn't
and 5600xt ~ 2060 super
the 5600xt is the reason that the 2060 was reduced in MSRP from 350 to 300
it might have been just the 5700 tho
The 5600XT is also much more pricier then 1660S pricing
aye
the only difference between the b450 and b550 variants of the DS3H is literally the chipset and PCIe 4.0 board compatability
because it was originally intended to slot in between the 1660 variants and the 2060 (re: what Hei said)
the boards are basically the same, and you would only be paying extra for a chipset with features you dont need
The Sapphire Pulse is the card sent for early reviews (according to userbenchmark.com)
It's the best performing but costs a little bit more, from what I understand
@viral ore thanks for all the help and advice. This is such a friendly community when you're not playing Fall Guys lmao
ok @jovial mason
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/yGV8n7
this is a bare minimum system. for what you need, this will do perfectly fine. if theres anything more you want, like a cooler looking gpu, or a larger monitor, it will cost extra.
this is like, the cheapest i can get it without sacrificing quality or performance in some way
is there anything specific you want to change about it?
also, the monitor i switched to is actually one i use daily, and i love it
however it is a bit smaller
What are my options if my CPU red light is on when I turn my build on
It's brand new, opened it 5 minutes ago, and it's not installed wrong
@main mango how do you know you installed correctly
But it means the cpu isnt working properly
Because all you do is pull the lever up, line it up snug, and lever back down
I don't know what I could have possibly done wrong
Doesnt mean you havent done something wrong
You want to simplify it as much as possible
I forgot to plug in CPU power good bye forever friends
Put me in the hall of shame I am dead
Farewell don't be as stupid as me
Didnt we tell you that yesterday
As long as you didn't plug anything in the wrong port you should still be fine
Yep optimal dead chat hour is back
Always same time
lol
Ccccccccc
please keep stuff like that in the #general-chat
My PC has 1 8gb ram stick. Im waiting for my other 8 gb stick to come in. Installing the RAM is no problem but is there anything I need to do in the bios to make sure my pc is operating with all 16 gbs of ram?
It should pick it up on it's own. You may need to adjust timings and such though.
Okay thank you! @little osprey
So not a headset
I like the looks
Covers the keyboard with mouse
Kk
I need to find a new mouse mat. My current one has the backing peeling off.
@hearty mist couldnt boot it. We suspect a bad psu...
Hmm
it was a thermaltake bomb psu
Was it used?
no but it was a bad one
Well it should still work
oof
smart 80+ has a really bad rep for really bad failures
shorting everything kinda failures
it was getting some power because a light came on but it was the only light and its fans didnt spin
it was like the rgb light
on the mobo
Got u, tag me when u guys continue the build.
@stoic island btw we are talking about someone elses pc that we were helping here
just for context
Hey sorry not totally sure where to send this but does anyone have any suggestions for me? My graphics drivers won't install. I'm running windows 10 with a Geforce graphics card and nothing other than the browser can run. It seems like it's just using the basic motherboard graphics
kk
thanks
Did you plug your monitor into the GPU or the Motherboard @ancient plinth
into the gpu
also @ripe wedge this is like the default troubleshooting chat imo
o lol
yeah, gen said graphics
my computer says there is an error with the graphics card drivers but won't install the new ones
Why's that?
what was the error?
How are you trying to install the drivers, and what GPU?
just make sure
yes
So what does Geforce experience say?
you might have been trying to install the wrong drivers
Geforce says the correct drivers have been installed buyt when I go to device manager on windows it says there is stll an error
icky
i can't rn because the moniter stopped conecting so I'm working from laptop rn
could also try getting drivers this way
I do that and it says drivers are up to date
Then it should be fine
but graphics still don't work
did you build the pc yourself or was it a prebuilt?
Next, Monitor drivers maybe?
Built it myself. Games just say graphics are incompatible or just run really slow
weird
how could I check those?
did you make sure to plug in a pcie cable into the graphics card?
intel i-9000
uhh..
?
i9-9900k?
ah an i5
could thatbe the problem?
what graphics card is it?
and no the i5 should be fine
even if it is an i5-2400 you can still game on it
grahics card is geforce rtx 2060
ah the 2060
Prebuilt or built it yourself
built myself
where'd you get the gpu
where did ya buy it from
gonna make sure this isn't one of those wish 20$ gpus
I'm not sure. LEt me check
Because that would be really weird otherwise
Drivers should be good, everything are detected, but can't run games
okay I can do once I get the moniter working
so do you know where you bought it from?
Also you can get aida64/hwinfo64 and just take a look at everything
bought it off the zotac website
zotac sells off their website??? lemme see
There's also an outside chance the GPU either arrived DOA or just died.
@cold sorrel it booted
and they got drivers on
I bought my gpu off zotacs website too lol
i think sotre.zotac.com
my card was only sold on their website
*store
huh
MSI Asus and EVGA all direct you to buy from retailers iirc
guess zotac sold from their own store
yep thats it
@stoic island also didnt have to pay tax. paid through paypal
but yea it could be its just a dead card
I'll just run the program ya'll talked about when I get the moniter up and running again. Thnx for the advice
but if you could get us that error it would help because we can research the error code
