Prices aren't too bad
Yeah I found one too they have older i5 and i7 builds for like 100-200
They carry newer stuff
They even had a few b550s, new too
Which I was surprised by since b550 is sold out almost everywhere
U guys have microcenter?
I just found out I do
I have "microbytes" lol, canada
can you guys help me build a pc i have 400-500usd budget and i dont really know what parts to pick
Go used
It's possible, but not much
how about 600?
Wait for the 4700g to come out at that budget neyja
ok thanks
You won't even need a GPU, you can worry about it later
Play on medium in the meantime lol
ikr but i really need to build like this week tho huhu im thinking 3200g but idk
Going to go sleep before I have to work in less than 8 hours
Or I guess 4600g or equivalent would be on that budget
See yall
I hate night shift😭😭, but the pay is amazing 🤑🤑
3200g is good, but if u get a GPU I heard the 3100 is better, I'm not super up to date
I wish I had a pay xD
I make like ten bucks a day with my life savings of what is now 1900 bucks lol
Investing
lol
But soon that goes to computer
i make nothing at all lol
My pay is completely random
So now I'm at ~1100, -550 for my mobo and cpu
*with tax
A server rack wearhouse is hiring tho 20 an hour
But it's full time :(
3200g or 3400g? im buying a gpu in the future
Probably 32 but I'm really not sure
You should know that with a CPU like that you won't be able to get a GPU stronger than like a 1660ish
Which is pretty powerful in its own right but, it don't do the ray trace
I wanna flight sim
dng tht one's broken too
New game look so good
yeh
Microsoft is building the matrix
Like forget about graphic design let's just upload earth
And NPCs? Pffff just use u and ur data
i think im only getting a 1050 ti tho and build a new pc when i grow old enought to get a job haha
not used haha
Lmao
Thats a 5 yr old low end card....
bruh ok
Let me not go used
so what should i pair the 3200g with?
1650 super minimum
okok
Or a 570 used
If it's too expensive then a used 1050 lol, not new
500
I5 optiplex + 1050 = 200 bucks, or less
Almost as good as a 3200 and 1050 lol
wtf is this HAHAHAH
hahaha
3200 is much better then an old i5 of course but, if your pairing it with a 1050 it's pointless
Old i7 max
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/NrvRQq new build for 699
600
But I advise going used
for more perf
what if 3400g not gonna pair with gpu then upgrade all the parts when i have the money?
1650 non super.... Noooooooo
wait
is it not lol
sorry about that I looked up 1650s in search bar instead of the filter
3400g won't benefit you anymore then a 3200g
The GPU portion will def be the limiter
In all games
Ur list is meh lol
how ?
the 1650s is the best you can get at the price
3100 is the same
b550 is future proof
need to be lvl3 to post links #ranks-and-levels
Needs a cheaper mobo, SSD is too much for this budget, and 8gb ram is probably fine
he said he is getting a new pc after
why cant i send my build
the b550 is to future proof
the ssd is fine
why get less ram when you can have more?
but
@autumn gate already said why, you need to by lvl3 to post links #roles #ranks-and-levels
oh sorry sorry
The said that this pc would be temp
@little osprey the things you cheap out on wont give enough leeway for something better
No but itl bring him closer to the actual budget
Without effecting performance much
ok I"ll bring it down 20 dollars easy
A quad core and low end GPU is fine for 8 gb, and at a 500$ budget, just get a hard drive and call it a day, I'm sure they want more then 500gb
He said 500-600
That's like two games now
im only using the pc for online class and editing playing csgo hehe
Reason: Bad word usage
Reason: Too many infractions
well then
what lmao
dang
bruh
[unban]
wont do anything tho
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/NrvRQq new build for 699
@little leaf 1650 non super?
@fast dust acident
Searched 1650s
Instead of filtered it
The list after is better
oh cool
1050 ti isn't still better than 1650?
from what I've seen it's still poop compared to 1650 super
1650 is still the best option if you dont have any power connectors and just the pcie power
what are chipsets for on mobo
a chipset is different than a socket. a socket is the size/shape/layout of a particular cpu. the chipset is what is offered with that. however, each chipset (ex. z490) is specific to a socket type (ex. LGA1200) @kind flax
chipset can sometimes determine features like slot gen and whatnot. however these things can also be throttled by a cpu
yah
for example the z490 chipset supports pcie 4.0 but the current compatible cpu (intel 10th gen) does not
the reason im asking is cuz i have a b350m mobo
and I was looking at b550m
and seeing the features they offer
and if its worth upgrading it
what are you looking for? is it something like more ram compatibility or slot gen?
Omg
@fast dust I made $190 net gain from that RX 480 R7 2700 PC
You were right r7 is a good selling point
xD
cool
anyone still using a 580?
@wanton river Have an RX570 infront of me going into a customers build tomorrow/thursday when the rest of parts ship lol. 2nd one I've used in builds this month cause they're great cards for the price.
Wait for rtx 3000
mhm
i want a 3080ti
im willing to spend $1000-1200 on a gpu but im not paying for the stupid 3090
and so far it looks like there is no 80ti
but the 90 is titan comparable which doesnt really help with gaming for a higher cost. i would just wait til release and watch reviews but i want it asap
good point
eh screw it. ill pick up a few extra shifts and get the 90
lmaoo
My cpu is not Turning on with one power supply but with the other it is.But the problem is my gpu turns off the power supply that the cpu will not work on is a Corsair rm 850x anyone have any ideas?
if youre going to pay 1400 might as well
What cpu @rigid ibex
I ordered my pc parts today big hype
@high chasm um ur cpu cooler is sideways
no it aint lmao
i just didnt re orient the screen
that pic was taken before i downloaded cam
thats what i meant
so if i wanted to sell my pc and build a new one, is there a way i can save all my downloads?
idk if this is a build chat thing
create a system image
whats that
youtue iot
and replaced it with a hdd
🤷♂️
If I was thinking about building a new pc around this time, would I wanna just wait for amd 4000 series and GeForce 3000 series to come out? Or just one or the other, any ideas on that?
id wait
amd 4000
ye
amd 5000!
Lmaooo and gotcha thanks
but a while from now
Are they gonna release a new line of motherboards for when 4009 series comes around, how does that work exactly?
*4000
Reason: Bad word usage
the reason i bought a titan is so i dont need to upgrade to 3000 series, or just my excuse to put the titan in my i9 rig and buy the 3000 titan for this
i think its compatible with the older boards
i have a b450 and im pretty sure theyre planning to make it work with it
That’s what I heard, it was like some b450s and all b550s or something like that
Wasn’t sure cuz I couldn’t find much about it
yea
@zenith cedar lol just bought a pc for about 200 more than it would norm be
Lmaooo that’s tough, hope you like it tho
Havent even bought the gpu yet 😎
dang
how long do you think we have to wait for the i9 10th gen to go back down to $530? should i just buy my i7 10th gen now
@desert gulch i9 10900k
@weary bluff dont buy a 10900k
Are your just gaming
If so get a 10600k
And oc it
i want to game and stream. I'm either gettingi7 or i9 but idk if i should buy rn or wait
Wait
Ehat gpu will you pari with it?
@weary bluff go amd if you plan to pair it with a 3080 or 3090
around 3k ig
Yes then get amd
Pcie gen 4
@weary bluff i like both but if you wanna stream and game amd is where its at.
not really, you'll be doing NVENC encoder so CPU wont matter that much
I eould just use amd for the pcie gen 4
amd still has better speeds in everything else... except gaming and strictly gaming by minimal amounts
if i was making a rig for JUST gaming id do intel
eh intel still has a decent lead in gaming in mid-high end
gaming+streaming is basically same perf as gaming alone if you have a Nvidia GPU. If you plan to go for pure FPS, intel can win by a decent amount
OC core/ring and 4000MT/s CL16 memory
this may have changed but the last time i checked benchmarks amd was leading and not by a little i still like intel though
i just have to give cred where cred is do
That's because those benchs werent testing for pure FPS people, like people who do major comp stuff
im gonna buy intel i just want to know if i should buy an i7-10k or wait for i9-10k to go down
144hz
amd is usually a better choice at gaming but intel still has a lead
Pcie grn 4
So basically, if you have a high budget and are doing truly comp FPS then go Intel as you'd notice the difference. If not, then AMD
@weary bluff if your worried about price go with the i7
Go IBM
.-.
go sketchy chinese cpu brand
at this point ima just put a potato in my mobo
i read the article a little and that seemed fair only...at that budget why not go with the r7 3700x or r5 3600x.
@weary bluff what gpu
most likely a 3000 series
same my pc isnt finished yet
3080(Ti)?
id also suggest going with a 3600, but i linked that to say that intel is a decent amount ahead if money isnt really a priority
no ti prob too much
focus on GPU before CPU
i have an r7 3700x (first time ive gone amd
ill get something around $600
no, dont go Intel then
@weary bluff lmao 600
go AMD and add $200 to your GPU budget
And u want a 10900k
what should i do with this crap ive been given it has an i5-6500 no gpu 8 gigs ddr4 ram at 2400
sell it
its stupid filthy too
^
i wouold have to clean it and replace the case
if you cant use it at least try to make money off it
i would probably loose money
basically: clean it up, add some cheap colored LEDs, profit
maybe
if i sold it like i should id only make maybe 100 bucks profit
id send pictures of it but you know
buy a used RX470 for like $80, three RGB fans for $30, and sell it for like $450 - $550
i couldnt do that to anybody
especialy because im at a point in this where my reviews matter
tru
i flipped an i5-6500 Dell build with a 750Ti for $350
someone out there will buy whatever you put together
im not big on selling people who dont know hat they're buying somehting i know is crap
and i flipped an i7-6700, non K, with 16GB ram and an RX 570 for $550, just threw it in a white fractal case with some white ring LED's
the i5-6500 would be a solid machine with a GPU upgrade, so for $350 plus $100 on ebay, they have a solid 1080p machine
i understand that but 500 might be a little overkill. especially for a machine id have about 200 in
well I've got business in the morning ima head out
i dont see the issue with selling like that
if they pay extra, they need to do the research
so they can get a good deal
Hey guys ive talked about this issue before but have no idea where to even go from here
On this new, freshly built system, i can install windows just fine, but, after about a few minutes or so while in windows, my screen flickers, then the PC restarts, and windows goes into recovery mode. Cant get back into windows.
I've tried using a different hard drive, different ram, different PSU, different motherboard, different windows install usbs, but not matter what, nothing seems to work.
Anybody know what could possibly be causing this issue? Maybe walk me through some troubleshooting steps?
Thanks so much for anyone who helps.
Specs:
FX-6100
1x8gb DDR3
Asus Strix GTX 960 2gb
EVGA 450 BR
Adata SU630 240gb
Asus M5A78L-MLXPLUS
well
naturally when im discussing something on here you add to it something that is hella factual and something i didnt know so i dont think i can help
you didnt say if you tried diff CPU
oh, i did not
yea
i do have an athlon X2 II 270 or smth i can try out
id try that
if you changed so much stuff, most likely CPU
uninstall and reinstall windows
i am praying with all my heart the CPU sint the problem. I would like, cry or somwthing, if it is
is that cpu expensive?
uninstall and reinstall windows
I have easily done this 10+ times
try 20+ times?
that or case is shorting something random
im testing it outside of the case rn
test bench or smth?
is that cpu expensive?
not really. FX-6100. like pretty old. people just overprice them cause it has "six cores"
"six" cores rather
oh
""""""""Six"""""""
yeah p much
when my "six" core processor has 3
so you have no warranty for it if its broken
yes. bought all used. and it just so happens that the only thing i cant return/replace readily is the CPU
F
dang that sucks
F
trying new cpu rn
ok
lol
ok phew it does
i didnt want to have to gut my other system to get the athlon 245 thats in there
so its the cpu?
that seems like the best bet as to what it is right now
but im testing to see if it is
dang that sucks
Wish me luck
that cpu fan looks sick tho
what is it?
100w advertised TDP
i just dont get how a CPU could bork up windows so bad but whatever
worth a try anyways
yea
yams whats happening
same PC
imma work on my ram things ina bit
cool
what havent you tried so far
CPU. thats what im trying now
and GPU
but i highly doubt it'd be that. that's a last resort
welp good luck
thanks
my aio is coming in 2 days at least
good for you
so hyped free aio
im in windows
just gotta leave it at teh desktop
and wait
wait until it either crashes or like 30 minutes
how'd you get a free aio @wary geode
unethical methods
i got this okay so mercari new account 5$ i sent a link from my main 10$ off 5$ to post 20$ after the fist purchease 20$ to myself the aio is 37 mercari gave me 10$
yes unethical ill say
not to mention got 5$ off for using paypal so i got another thing in my account
so i got paid 12.75$ and i get a coolermaster v2
that isnt bad
welp
it happened again
with a different CPU
how
the heck
ughhhh
ok ill come back to this tomorrow
I’ve tried recreating the usb 3 times and on 2 different flash drives
The only bing left is GPU
Gonna try to replace GPU
Then as a last resort
Try installing win 10 home instead of pro
The windows website duh
lol just gotta make sure
Lol i done even know where else I’d get it
im sure there are other areas
well idk what is wrong
its hard to thing its a gpu issue
i did have an issue like this
where i set the speed of my ram accidentally higher than what i bought
That’s weird
yea
My ram is running at stock 1600 or 1333MHz in bios. Can’t remember which
gotcha
And I’ve tried clearing CMOS, so that resets BIOS to default so that can’t be the issue
Seriously
like i said i had issues with gpus where compalibilty is a issue
So I’m gonna do my last resort tries
its weird i know but it oes happemn
Yeah gonna throw a 650TI or 8600 GTS in there so it basically has guaranteed support
i can explain futhermore if youd like but it probably wont make sense
i know a fair mount about gpus and its a internal issue
its the thing i most confident with
i mainly just know the things that make up them i dont focus on internal tinkering
Gonna try those things tomorrow -_-
Hopefully gonna have a lot of free time tomorrow cause online school is wacky
facts
oof
chemistry is putting blocks together
im in kindergarden
ok imma test my things now and file a rma
@errant berry which ap physics are u in?
Another friend of mine is thinking about getting a $500-600 starter PC build
Any good lists?
Me in geometry and biology lol
good for u guys btw. i started college with 31 ap credits and its a huge boost. they even gave me a small scholarship because i was a good student or something
yes?
ooh paper
@unborn solstice any good 500-600 builds?
the part on top (last picture) is too big to fit in there
@errant berry which ap physics are u in?
@unborn solstice im in the base class but kinematics already messing me up lol
but the other similar part on the manual does fits but it says it’s not supposed to be there
what should i do?
i have a $800 build im making for my cousin i could recise
revise*
kinematics is nice because everything works off of each other. once u get to e&m stuff gets a bit wild
but you went in to college with 31 ap credits
Ok koo Koo that would be good
ill let u in on a secret
ap foreign languages are the best
15 credits from spanish alone
There’s an ap exam for it that you could register for still I’m pretty sure
ah
depends on the college youre looking at
you should check their website first
@little osprey i dont really have much bc most of the stuff might change depending on new gpu prices
Oh I see
@still mesa that part in the pic looks like the one that goes on the back just to cover the exposed back of the mobo
Ye I totally forgot lol my b @unborn solstice
What's the meaning? I need an explanation
ampere is who the new 3000 series gpus are named after. just like turing and pascal
Can
Can
@still mesa you found a solution?
if not: then here is how you fit that retention bracket: First, the inner holes (closest to the CPU) are where the bolts go.
Second: It is put in from the back of the board (just in case that isnt clear)
note: the reason it currently doesnt align is because your bolts are in the position for the old 1366 socket.
yeaa i did
but i need help again
i am trying to put my radiator of my water cooling there but my RAM won’t let it because there’s not enough space
what can i do?
There are other fans of the case that won’t let me
Movr them then
@fading acorn paying nvme prices for non nvme m.2 ssd?
why 4133 cl19?
spending $113 on case fans for a 3600 and 2060S?
on a 3600?
C tier psu
monitor seems overpriced for what it offers
my 1440p 165hz monitor was barely more expensive than that
also
spending $113 on fans just to get a case with poor airflow
at least get the mesh version of it
and yeah you won't be able to hit 4133mhz ram in coupled mode on basically any 3600
but it'll probably manual tune down to like 3800 cl16
just get a td500 mesh
it is mesh version
From reading around, I read that any 10th gen intel core CPU will support 128gb of ram to include the I3 and I5 m. Is this correct?
???? Which 10th gens??? The I5, I7s or the I9s??
I cant even find the max ram cap
i7 and up supports faster ram up to 2933 mhz
i5 supports 2666. but i cant find anything that states max usuable capacity
Yea that’s why I’m a little confused, don’t want to get a cpu more powerful than I intent to build up the other components but also don’t want to get something too weak but the ram I’m looking to getting to
I mean an i7 is usually pretty safe
they arent too expensive and give good performance
most ram in a standard desktop config i hear is like 64 gigs
Thanks I’ll probably go with that, is unlocked a must? I don’t think I have the know how to overclock it myself right now
so beyond that is unknown for desktop rigs unless you go high end desktop
Unlocked gives alot more flexability
I just got a motherboard that supports 128 so that’s what I’m looking at for the memories
allright. yea thats why I mentioned mobo earlier. I had thought it was a motherboard limit
but unlocked i7 is what i would personally choose
unless you wanted to go amd
depending what your doing
I think the intel I7 will be good enough. Upgrading from an office desktop turned gaming desktop that only runs 16gb of ram so anything better than that is an upgrade for me
than yea. unlocked i7. unless your doing some high end editing or something i wouldnt go more than 32 gigs ram
@little osprey ssd over priced
@unkempt jolt lmao all game only use like 8-10 gigs of ram
Ram is not deciding factor in gaming
I mean all of this stuff has been made and bought already
Most you need for gaming is 16
@unkempt jolt if you get a i7 10700k and anything lower than a 2080ti
I will be very
Very
Disappointed
Also games only need 16gbs of ram idk what your on
The cpu and gpu are definitely the thing holding u back
better water it a lil like your other plants
Bois I need some help i think I’m gonna start upgrading my pc and I’m starting with my cpu and gpu, I’m thinking about getting the AMD Ryzen 5 3600X 6-Core as a cpu and a AMD Radeon RED Dragon RX 580 8GB GDDR5 1 x DL as a gpu
Idk which chat to put this in cus one is gpu and the other is cpu but yerrr
Also my budget is limited and I’m not super techy
2 questions
how much are u willing to spend and what do u use this pc for?
@safe heart
Gaming and video editing and around a total of 500
I’m at school atm so I’d tell you my current specs but idk them off the top of my head
@safe heart do you focus more on gaming or editing?
500$ for processor+gpu?
i think so
Ye frous
1650 is bad lmao
I’m pretty sure rn I have a 1660
Not sure if that’s tru doe
a ryzen 3600 is like 200 bucks with the rest 300 you can get a 1660 super
Yeah
he's not building from ground up lmao
oh nvm
Idk off the top of my head I’m at school atm
oh lol
treat your pc with more respect
if you have a ryzen 5 3600 then you should probably just get a 2070 non-super lmao
dunno
all I know 2070 is all around better for streaming too
2060 is $400 and is beaten by 5700xt but 2070 can contest it pretty well
so you should then pair your ryzen 5 3600 with 2070 SUPER?
ryzen 5 3600 basically does for most gpus
pairing amd with amd feels better tbh
but a 5700xt is a better choice instaed of a 2070
If you don't stream
Brb I gotta pay attention in class
5700xt > 2070 in gaming perf
will 2070 SUPER be better for rendering, video editing, and stuff?
guys he said $500
Wait for Nvidia 3rd gen
for both
You just need to wait like 5 days
other prices will drop
Leaks doesn't mean the truth
ram and ssd will drop maybe
i rather wait for big navi tbh
i was planning to buy a GPU that is good for video editing and stuffs..
just wait
video editing is a highly intensive cpu task
Can have GPU Accel too tho.
i watched one of your yt videos and the recordings were sometimes in like 3 fps
Both CPU and GPU needs to be good.
well yes but just watch a vid and youll see
Oh the gameplay was 3fps?
indeed
i don't think i have the budget for the big navi and 3000 series though
big navi prices arent leaked yet
if your pc is already decent enough just wait a bit for the rtx 3000 series cards to release
and the leaks migh not be true
Didn't you say you can spend 500$ on a GPU? 3060 is almost certainly under 500$
i am thinking about having ryzen 5 3600 with 2070 SUPER as of the moment
Just wait til 3000 series
It's what 5 days until the announcement
Might be a good idea to grab a 3700x for editing
okay.. will try to wait this september
but 3700 is way more expensive than 3600 and i can't afford that much
But every generation typically moves up a step, so the 400$ 2060 card was about the same as the 500$ 1070 card, and the 400$ 2060 super card was about the same as the 500$ 2070 card
Just saying
Btw what's total budget
I'll make a list
@midnight vine what's your current PC, and how much are you willing to spend?
currently i have i5-7400 with 1050Ti and am planning to buy an Ryzen 5 3600 with 2070 SUPER
What are you willing to spend
And what else is in the PC
You can't just slap a 3600 into a lga1151 motherboard
Or expect a 2070 super to run off some 300w psu
So more information would be nice
i already bought a mobo that's good for AMD 3rd gen at most then a 750W PSU
i am just concerned with what processor and GPU to buy
There's a lot of things people can overlook
Ryzen 3 (2+?) shouldn’t be that much of an improvement, btw
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
For editing Zen 2 would be better already so
I mean 6c12t vs 4c4t isn't even a competition
@midnight vine anyways I'm also interested in the ram
Ryzen likes much faster ram than Intel
What motherboard?
Asus TUF B450M Plus since it is the only available mobo we have here as of the moment
And what ram?
I have 8GB 3200MHz RAM x 2 sticks
Yea try to get at some crucial 3600c16 2x8 GB kits
and go with 3700x?
your forgetting rgb >:c
i need some help. my cooler master h500 case came with 2x 200mm rgb fans but they run on 5v ARGB (3 pin) and my mobo only has 4 pin. i could just run my cpu cooler off my mobo but then they wouldnt match the fans 100% and that would bug me. is there some 5v ARGB controller that uses usb so i could run everything off of that or what should i do i need help first time ive ran into this issue i thought 4pin 12v was standard XD
@midnight vine yea sorry was gone, 3700x is better for editing.
I haven't seen any usb adapter that could do that. Your case should of come with a little sata powered argb switch for the front fans tho
it does thats what im using it just doesnt match my cpu cooler or ram
none of my rgb is in sync right now and it doesnt help that polychrome sync doesnt detect my ram
isnt 4 pin connectors able to take 3 pins too
i just built this and its not complete yet waiting for that 3000 series but i want my rgb in order
@errant berry not rgb
@errant berry no it cant@
Ya, I ran my pc like that for a while until I upgraded motherboards. I think it might be possible to get a 3 pin argb to 4 pin rgb cabel, however the fans will only be able to run as rgb fans
RGB 3 pin is 5v
ive already looked into that it wouldnt work
4 pin is 12v
How much would a home-built server cost
Anyways something like this?
https://www.coolermaster.com/catalog/coolers/rgb-accessories/argb-led-small-controller/#image-Item2
Some quick googling
how would i be able to get that to sync with my cpu/ram
3pin DC fan plugs into 4pin pwm fan header just fine
Software should work
I'm on mobile atm so can't easily check
Same
Okay according to product page there's "1 cable to sync with motherboard"
that has a usb plugin couldnt i take that connect my fans to it, but use the usb control and do the same with my cpu so they all run off of my mobo
i plan on doing liquid cooling soon i just have to get a little more cash
Liquid cooling isn't always the best :D
i know
I love my Noctua d15
but im using a stock cooler
ive seen where the higher end noctuas cool the cpu better than the best luiquid cooler its more so that the luiquid cooler also acts as fans to help cool the rest of my build
and if i ever wanted to sell people are more likely to pay a premium for liquid cooling
You know that the rad slows the airflow right
Anyways you do you, people like buying kewl watercooling
only if you take normal fans off for the rad
but yes im aware that is has less airflow than standard fans
im not
Arctic freezer ii is amazing for the price
i was thinking about the cooler master ml240 v2
That's the cheap one I haven't looked into so I dunno
anything is better than a stock cooler though
Arctic freezer II remains my suggestion for any and all AIO needs
I'm always perf > looks
If you want a good looking build, I'm not the person you want in chat >:D
im big perf vs build
its moreso that my case came with the rgb and amd stock cooler has rgb so if its there i want it to look normal
i just want it all a solid purple
ive gotta do more work ill be back later
I can understand wanting to spend on aesthetics
but some people are really ridiculous about it
no, your ryzen 5 3400G doesn't need a custom loop and $200 of rgb case fans
lmao facts
I've had customers demand rgb fans and strips in a $300 build and I'm just like... no
you can have a $300 build that runs games and looks basic... or you can have a $300 build that looks fancy and barely runs windows 7
yeah absolutely
I wouldn't go for $200 of corsair rgb case fans
but led strips for sure
you can get 2 for $17 and a motherboard that belongs in a $1k build is likely to have an rgb header
if you really want RGB fans the most cost effective way is to go for a case like P400A or TD500 mesh
It's okay
both really solid cases for $100 that come with 3 argb fans and a controller
but not amazing for rgb <1000$
the value of the fans alone are like $50 probably
I wouldn't go for $200 of corsair rgb case fans
@earnest olive ya those fans are a waste i got the deepcool cf120
its like 50 for a 3 pack
and its the ones that came with my case
well
true
the rgb fans hei usually suggest from asiahorse is like 30$ for 3 fans
$17 of led strips is enough to light up the whole PC like a display case
they seem messy tho if you dont know how to manage the cables
i dont
so thats why i just went with the fans
do your fans come with merged cables
the ones in the td500 come with a fan splitter and rgb header splitter so you only need 1 of each header
Motherboard - MSI x570 Tomahawk Wifi
CPU- Ryzen 9 3900x
im just looking for help finding out if one of the nzxt kraken cpu coolers is compatable.
oh you cant post links
look at the nzxt website @fleet portal
those two statements do not align.
what
basically, if you dont know. dont say. :)
What's the most expensive pc ever created?
something we dont know about.
hmmmmmm
think about it like this: The definition of PC is different to people. And as an example: a Epyc or Xeon build used in some cornercase workflow for someones private setup. would most likely take the price for THIS generation.
what's an epyc
my god 64 cores
8P xeon system is going to be way more expensive for sure
new ssd or new ram
which again loops back to the "Definition" staement above @earnest olive
actually depends on how fast ur. ram is and how much storage ur ssd has
@little osprey
oh
and speeds
no
he has different speed ram and different brand ram
i would reccomend he go that route
and get like a 256 gig ssd with the leftover money
it'll just copy the lowest speed and loosest timings out of all of the modules
@earnest olive i tried it just crashs its some green stick 8gb with 2x8 corsair vengeance
just gon get new ram
minecraft
idk man rust and minecraft
idk i had no problem running minecraft server with 16gb
yeah same
minecraft uses like what 4gb? lol
get the ssd for windows and minecraft
Reason: Bad word usage
@still roost no you
check ur ram usage while running minecraft and if it really uses all 16 gigs all the time then get 2 new sticks
and if it doesnt get an ssd
@little osprey
anybody got any suggetions, i wanna put up any rgb strip but i dont want to ruin my wall/ moniters finish
vinyl wrap to protect the monitors finish and a light adhesive tape should be fine for your wall @little osprey
Thx
Having trouble POSTing a pretty simple PC build and not sure what to try next.
I've built a few custom PCs, so it's not my first, but I'm not an expert or even close.
I'm reusing an old HP pavilion case, and putting in a Gigabyte B450M DS3H with a Ryzen 3200G, a single 8GB DDR4 3600.
Using a new 500W PSU and a 256GB SSD, and a GTX 1050 for graphics that I already had and have tested.
Sometimes the system doesn't even power on (i.e., no fans, no motherboard lights). But if it does then I get nothing on the monitor. I am using the GPU HDMI on my normal work monitor that I know works. There is an orange light on the motherboard, and it's solid which I think is a good sign, though the manual doesn't specify. There are no beeps on the motherboard either. (I do know that a blinking orange light is probably bad - I had that happen after doing a test of moving the RAM to a different slot as well as trying to boot without the GPU).
Not sure what to do or try next. Any suggestions?
@hearty scarab well the orange light is standard looks for the board make aure everything is pulgged in so it isnt shorting and make sure the psu switxh is on
Yup - PSU turned on - and once the fans/lights startup then nothing else happens. Everything seems solidly plugged in.
Clear cmos
im looking for a graphics card that does not require external power, aka PCI power. in the 100-120 dollar range. does anyone have any recommendations
what even is that card lol
Tried clearing CMOS, nothing changed.
ive never heard of that
GTX 1650 @final orchid
ok ill look at that card
its about 140 on amazon for the ddr5
so is a pci card just any normal card
do you think this card could run ms flight simulator
like it goes in a pcie slot
Uhh
None of the no-external-power cards are particularly powerful
It's above minimum specs, sooo you might be able to run it on low
do you think the Radeon RX 570 would run medium?
It does
Yea 570 takes a 6pin
mhm
im using an rx550 right now i might upgrade my PSU first then look into graphics cards
Yes
does anyone know of any power supply units that are in the price range of 100-120 dollars lmao
bronze is ok. id perfer a gold
alright ill trust you lmao
i dont see it
ok i see it now just had to load in
Russian
So - I tried resetting CMOS - what to try next? I can't get anything on-screen.
It's wild how expensive PSUs got this year. I remember paying like $115 or less maybe for my RMx 750 snow edition
how much is it now
Looking to get an Asus Liquid CPU cooler since all my other Components are Aura SYNC but I noticed that newegg website does not have any that support intel LGA 1200 socket blocks. Would another LGA socket fan like the 1151 fit? Or is it really socket specific cooling systems?
According to Noctua 1151 and 1200 are the same socket size and all
just different pins
Thanks
Makes sense, that why I asked but I would had figured the Newegg website would not be limiting in their search bars if parts still fit different socket types
Hey Im trying to build a system that will slam through After effects and cinema 4d
anyone have experience with the lian li lancool 2 case
@rough wasp budget?
Over 3K
Im trying to download drivers for this motherboard but theres no option for windows 10, only windows 7. What should I do?
@atomic harness yes my roommate has a Lancool 2 i built for him
my front rgb isn’t working but I have sata and argb plugged in so I can’t figure out what i’m doing wrong
@elfin burrow
not working at all? like even if you use the built in buttons on case?
yeah like it’s not even lighting up
check the pins between the front panel that comes off and the connector, make sure one is not slightly bent?
the pins on the mobo?
@rough wasp https://pcpartpicker.com/list/QKf2HB maybe something like this
no, the front panel has pins that will contact a connector when you reattach it to the case
dunno how much storage/ram you need so i went with 128gb ram, 1tb ssd + 4tb hdd
can knock the cpu down to a 3960X to reduce price
definitely get a second opinion on something of this scale though
can I dm you so I can send picture @elfin burrow
i chose the 2060 KO because higher end GPU scaling has diminishing returns in these kind of workloads compared to gaming (source Puget Systems)
while cpu scaling does drop off in after effects, cinema 4d doesn't stop scaling with cores, so the 3970X is mostly there for that
I am at work @atomic harness so can't really focus on chatting, just figured i would give some ideas
no problem
cinema 4d rarely requires more than 64gb of ram, but after effects can even go above 128gb in extreme cases, so 128gb of ram doesn't seem overkill here
the cooler i chose can go into the case top mounted, so you'd have the 3 stock intake fans, 1 extra fan in the rear, and then the 360mm radiator on top, so cooling should be well taken care of
the mobo and psu do the job, not much else to say about those
hope this helps
Himm Thanks @earnest olive that looks like a nice build! Ill look it over more
Glad I could help but definitely get a second opinion on such a large purchase
Does anyone know where I can go to get help with a custom desktop that won't POST? I've cleared CMOS, I have power on, nothing on display.
did you plug in things correctly @hearty scarab
Hi I just upgraded my pc cpu and motherboard but when I turn it on a red light turns on next to my cpu does anyone know the cause of this cpu brand new
And it does not post
that means your cpu is not responding to the motherbopard did you plug in the cpu cable?
if not you got a DOA CPU
@rigid ibex
I will send a pic in #build-pics
I believe everything is plugged in. How can I tell if it's the CPU or motherboard?
Ah.. I wish there were threads in build chat. You're responding to Ark Plays.
ok so thats not allowing to boot please check if you plugged in the cables
im responding to you too @hearty scarab
There are no beeps. I am fairly sure everything is plugged in. I'll setup a video
I have the two large connectors to the mboard, the power connector to the gpu, power to the ssd. RAM is seated. CPU is locked down under heatsink/fan
good
Will video.
ok thats fine ark please now check the cpu and fan is it turning on
and is the aio actually pumping waterr
So will my cpu fan make it not turn on
did you put it in aio pump or cpu fan
yeas theres a difference between plugging it in cpu fan and aio pump
Ok that is what I did then I have no idea how to hook it up
the ll120 fan goes to cpu fan and aio to aio pump
left side near sys 1
you can plug aio pump to sys 1 too
or cpu opt
cpu opt = aio pump
cpu fan + the fans on the aio
So I plugged in the pump into fan
pump goes into cpu opt
Rip I will switch it
lol
Becouse I can’t plug in the cpu cable with out
What lmao
I see
