yeah but i belive there are some retertions
what is a retertion
safe mode by default just loads up the core OS, no networking, no background apps, etc
there's usually an option to boot in 'safe mode w/networking' in case you need internet access for updating drivers/apps
but other than that, it is still just the barebones core OS
yep
i was gonna say something about drivers too. i dont understand why though because windows has always installed the important ones for me
at this point in time, it's pretty good about being able to provide basic driver support for most hardware
the only thin I ever have to update are beta drivers for my gpu and the newest C++
not sure why windows doesnt automatically download the freshest C++. then again you only need if for games and certain apps
ill try safe mode first since i dont know where to go to overclock
some motherboards have overclocking in the bios. I just use radeon software and msi afterbruner since it does what i need
i cant find anywhere in the bios to overclock, so
what you trying to oc?
the CPU. it might be degraded so sips said to give it a little more voltage
some motherboards need an update ifthey do have an overclocking option
would try safe mode before overclocking
does that board have a model number on it anywhere? or is it pure OEM generic through and through?
it has a bios, the question is how full featured is it
if it's an OEM board, it might just be very limited
got a BSOD when trying to boot in safe mode.
"bad system config info"
its an asus board
nvm can't help rn
do you know what bios version it has now?
lemme see
cpu ram graphics
because the FX-6100 wasn't supported on the original bios version for that board
it got support via bios update
version 0601
ok, that's fine. it needs 0402 or later for 6100 support
those boards dont have that much voltage either. would not overclok unless you're undeervolting
yez\
still dont know where to go to do that tho
do
sena pic to the chat of yourbios
go into the Advanced Settings menu
and then CPU Configuration
er
wait
Jumper Free Configuration
that one
yes
There's an option there for CPU Over Voltage
if you can't move it off Auto, it's because the CPU won't allow it, not the BIOS
there's no jumper free config
wait i lie
its at the top :|
i cant move it off auto
it brought up a little blue box that I can type in
well, that's progress. i have no idea what you should put in there, but presumably it's a value in mV, you can try something small like 10-20 to start
the manual doesn't say what unit of power it uses for that option
well i can type up to 4 digits in there, so mv it is i guess
coughs
you are aware that you can screw things up beyond repair right @fast dust ?
personally, i would see if you can create a windows recovery disk and try and boot into that, and run some command line tools to see if you can fix a bad install
a quick question: did you assemble the board+cpu+cooler yourself or?
yes i did
Hey would anyone be willing to help me troubleshoot and diagnose this new PC build? It's a fresh build, all used parts, and has the weirdest issue I've ever seen and have no idea how to even try and figure out what's wrong.
I can download windows on the computer just fine, but after being in windows for a ferw minutes, anywhere from 4-15 minutes, my screen will go black, the PC restarts, and then i cant get back into windows and go into windows recovery. I've tested the RAM and its good. The SSD seems to be good as I took it out and put it in a different system, crystaldiskinfo says it's okay. I've reinstalled windows about 6-7 times.
Any idea about how I'd go about troubleshooting this?
Specs are: FX-6100, Asus Strix GTX 960 2gb, 1x8gb DDR3, EVGA 450BR PSU, Adata SU630 240gb, Asus M5A78L M LX Plus, random HP ODD, Rosewill Tyrfing case. Thanks in advance to anyone who helps :)
@fast dust
i'm not saying going into recovery mode on the existing install
2sec, let me just grab a picture of that board
i'm saying boot off the install USB
and open a command prompt from there
there's a tool called 'bootrec'
that has some options you can use to try and repair things like the MBR, etc
This is what I’m seeing. I can press plus or minus to reduce or increase
the ssd is a used one too right?
bruh i built my pc and csnt find my kb&m we just moved
hm.
SSD new, case and PSU refurb, everything else preowned
the MBR is what is being repaired, you aren't using that to repair anything
got a mech drive you could test with?
MBR = master boot record
i do have a spare 2TB HP i could try to use
the bad system config error is usually either bad hardware or a corrupted install
that is a simple way to rule out the ssd as being the culprit
i've tried reinstalling windows like 7 times @spiral zealot, so ive ruled out corrupt install
alright, lemme go grab the 2TB
that hasnt actually ruled out a corrupt install @fast dust
if the install media you're using is corrupted, the subsequent install will be bad too
it hasnt?
nope
and reinstalling from the same corrupted source means you'll always have a bad install
I've reinstalled it on the USB too
try and give the hdd a spin
alright
got to start narrowing down the working parts :)
try the HDD, yeah. if it is the install, it could be the USB stick itself that's going bad
i should probably set the voltage back to normal, how would i do that?
set it to auto if you can
just load defaults in the bios
or that
oh yeah, forgot about that
usually with fields like that, if you set the value to 0 it will flip back to auto
but don't quote me on that, because i'm sure there's some brand out there that would take it literally and just apply 0 voltage
welp
this is a byproduct of me being me
but i misplaced my windows USB and have no idea where it is
so give me a while
to find it
Added the two 60mm fans to the sleeper.
It has airflow now.
I also swapped the Corsair fan that was in the front of the case with a 140mm Noctua.
I have many uses for this computer so I want it cool.
Also I swapped the stock Intel thingy out with that tower cooler. It looks like it's a basic air cooler but believe me when I say that little Phantex cooler can get a 6700K to 4.5Ghz with no problems.
I need help with frames problems with gaming, is this the place to ask?
yep
@cloud grove the dust filter can also go under the top panel
im rockin
ryzen 5 2600
RTX 2070 super
16gb 3000mhz (capped at 2133 because mobo wont let me boot going higher)
So i stream and my previous gpu was the 166o super, which was an excellent beginner card imo, so i saved up and got the 2070 super, which was probably not worth the money. but alas, i bought the card to have better frames on call of duty. but im seeing the same frames, exact same. so I need help figuring out why? is it my ram? do i need 32gb ram? or do i need a better cpu? is it ryzen? i know you dont get as many frames as intel
do you have a frame cap in place?
no
multi its like 100-150 on most maps. which is exactly what i got on the 1660, if not a little worse
warzone its 80-130 max.
1920x1080? i think lemme check
whats your monitors refresh rate
144hz
do you have Vsync on
I turn it off, it makes my streams choppy
makes sense. do you stream with CPU or GPU?
GPU encoder. Nvenc new
This is probably a stupid question, but i'm only using one M.2 and there was a blue film i had to peel off of the MB heatsink, do i need to remove that film from the heatsink of the second m.2 port as well?
my friend gets close to 190 frames and hes on an i-7..with the exact same 2070 super
my ram sits idle at 40 percent usage, im curious if ram would help? or is an issue?
try downloading MSI afterburner and running the game. monitor thet temps, usage, etc
@midnight pelican yeah, ive been opening and messing around with cable management, so i put them all on the outside. they were catching when putting panels back on
once im completely done with it, ill put them all back in. just easier this way lol
Could you guys make me a build for my friend?
He is switching from a 2017 MacBook Pro 13 inch
He has a monitor and peripherals
His budget is between 800-1000
He said he wants to play games like gta V
should i be sticking to amd or get an i9
I got a new hdd and it keeps going in to bios menu how do i stop that
@fading acorn depends if you are gonna be spending alot on gpu too. intel really isnt worth it until you start getting into 2080s territory
yeah i’d wanna upgrade cpu n gpu
you are on amd mobo right?
Anybody have the razer nommo pro?
What do i have to do now
Anyone have any experience with the asus tuf gaming MB
whoever was just asking about the case in build-pics, it's the Corsair 275R
the messages got deleted before i could catch the name
@little osprey did you initialize it in windows so you can use it?
I already downloaded windows
@little osprey so what's the issue
And create partitions
Its not going back to the desktop its just error after error and now stuck in a boot loop
After you installed windows? You just have the one hdd in there?
Is the HDD empty?
Is it set to ACHI?
And what is your boot order?
Yeah you got partitions?
The hdd is not empty
What else is on the drive
Like how you got the setup? SSD for windows then hdd for everything else?
Games windows and other game things photos
No i was using a laptop hdd then just got a new hdd desktop
So you got one hdd now with a fresh windows on it correct?
The desktop hdd is sending me to bios and its clean the laptop hdd is in boot loop but the laptop one is with windows and everything
Yes
So like Ryan said what is the boot order of the drives?
Could it be trying to boot to the new drive instead of the laptop drive?
Im trying but the desktop is not detected
What do you mean? Bios is not part of windows
And error and back to bios
The desktop one dose this
The desktop hdd not detected
Yeah just restart tab del f12 f8 or whichever is your Mobo bios key
Yeah so you see where it says boot order num 1 set to your Ethernet adapter?
It's trying to pxe boot right meow so you need to change to the laptop hdd
You can prob turn off lan pxe boot option too as you don't need that at home
Where does it say boot order
1 is the new desktop hdd 2 was laptop hdd
So don't enable number 2. You just want to boot to the laptop hdd so change number 1 to laptop hdd
Take pic before you exit
So should i disable the desktop hdd
is it a good time to buy a CPU cooler?
You can if there is an option
Yeah turn the realtek to disabled
So you sure the windows boot manager is the laptop hdd correct?
So try to save and exit and see what happens
After blue screen it repeats the thing in vid turns of
Maybe it died?
It turns on gigabyte logo and off and again
It was working perfectly fine before I tried to connect a gpu
Try unplugging the other hard drive and go back in bios and make sure it's on the laptop hdd again
Then try again
Then I download driver and gose in recovery mode and boot loop
Its a GeForce gtx 460
PSU?
When it goes to recovery mode and you hit continue to windows what happens?
It Goes out of it back to boot loop
I did something this is from the desktop hdd
The one that says 298.0gb is desktop hdd the other one is laptop one
You don't need to be in raid mode
Something isn't right or something is dead it seems like
Do you have another GPU to try?
Or try to reinstall windows on laptop hdd
I don’t have any other gpu and i dont have a different pc to do that
What cpu you got
Do you have a video connection on the motherboard?
At the moment it looks like this the mother board has built in gpu
Did you take the GPU out?
Try and boot with the GPU taken out and the monitor hooked to the motherboard
It was like that when i was trying to boot
I feel like something is dying or windows install has become corrupt
So I'm looking into getting my first gaming pc and I found a few that (since i am new to this whole thing) I would like to have their specs rated for their price and which one would be best. I will copy&paste their specs and prices.
I had severe boot loops a couple months ago and it turned out to be a dying cpu. Never seen that before and wound up making a new pc basically just trying to figure out the issue
What is their specs rated for their price
This one is $999.99
AMD Ryzen 5 3600 - 16GB Memory - NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060 SUPER - 500GB SSD
@little osprey try a fresh windows install if you can with just the laptop hdd installed no other drives
Not always depending on price
Unless your gonna spend 2k
The laptop one just goes in boot loop i think il try getting a pre installed windows in a hdd or ssd
This one is $999
AMD Ryzen 7 3700X Processor
16GB Memory NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060 6GB Graphics 240GB SSD, 1TB HD
Honestly 500 to 700 you might be able to find a good deal at bestbuy or something
Well at a glance getting a 3700x and more storage for the same price is better all things being equal (which they may not be)
But less gpu
It's a non super
And we don't know what speed ram is
What psu it is
Ah true, overlooked that, good point
Yeah, as I said all things aren't equal. Quality of warranty support could vary a LOT too. If you are buying a prebuilt quality of support is important
This one seems like it might be good. $949
AMD Ryzen 5 3600 - 16GB Memory - AMD Radeon RX 5600 XT - 1TB HDD + 500GB SSD
According to the more in depth specs ram is 3000mHz crucial ballistic, and Asus prime b550M-a is the mobo. The case I'll show an image of it when I can post pictures
Does anyone know where i can get a pre instal windows on a hdd or ssd
Or anything like that
Where can I post pics? The rules seem to say I cant post any pictures unless I own said pic
Go in the image thin lm the left corner of text box
you can post pics of your rig in #build-pics , otherwise you can't post links/pics in any other channel until you hit level 3
does anyone know any good cheap gaming pcs
Well I built my for under 700$
cheap is relative, what's your budget and are you looking for prebuilt, or build it yourself?
either would work for me and like under 600 probably
I can give u what I built its pretty good
@little osprey they don't sell preimaged hdd's or ssd's
How did you get windows in the first place
I used the one on laptop i just took out the one from laptop
How do i stop a boot loop
You can get windows on a USB now a days from Microsoft's website. It's called the Media Creation Tool but you need to put a key in to activate
I bet now that you say that the windows install is the issue. You took it from the laptop and now you want to boot in another computer and it doesnt have the right drivers.
It's using the old laptop drivers instead of trying to install the new drivers
No i when I built my pc i took my laptop apart to get the hdd out i have bin using that for 2 months untill now
The laptop might have the windows serial key on the bottom
Don't know dude might be dead like I was saying
Yeah it might
Put your ear to it and see if it's making a clicking noise
No
No noise
So how much is one usb
Should i take part the laptop hdd to see if its fine
Or is that a rely dumb idae
I need help with some cords
How it looks like
Um really blurry try again
That’s from the power supply I think it’s a fan header do I plug it into one?
Send one more but less blur
It’s gunna be blurry it’s a 4 pin cable
I’m mad I’m to broke to afford one
This one
Yeah that one
I dont think u need to plug in
yeah, the front panel connectors might be switched around
I think they are I don’t know u want another picture?
if you check your MB manual it will tell you which pins are for the power switch, you can short them with a screwdriver and make sure the system starts up
Yeah
if it does, then you can connect the front panel headers and try again
Send how u set them up
Is there only those ones ore is there more
There’s only those
what motherboard do you have?
Msi mpg z390 gaming edge ac
It might be the power one
There’s a cord called power sw
Dose it show how it hose on the under the cables
move the power sw up
Goes
to the 2 pins above it
Yeah thats what the problem i think
Wht u got ander power led is it hd
the power sw should be on the 2 pins next to the power LED ones
so it should be Pwr LED - Pwr LED - Power Sw - missing pin
and then the 2 HDD LED pins underneath the power LED pins
And under power led is hd and under power sw is reset
Move the power sw up one
yeah it should be on the 2 pins that are right above it in that pic
everything else looks fine
LETS GO
Yo do you guys think I could add a motherboard with all that graphics cards and the cpu you and all that to a all in one desktop?
@unkempt ibex you're gonna have to use MSI mystic lights for mobo rgb
Oh okay so if my cpu cooler and my front fans arnt in sync mystic light will make it? #
i'm betting the CM logo is rgb
@exotic marten hey remember when u ask (is it set to ACHI ) is AHCI the same thing because i have that
and any rad fans
did the cooler and radiator fans have 2 cables that came off them? one for fan headers, and another cable with a 3 pin connector?
something like this? https://images-na.ssl-images-amazon.com/images/I/71sMsGIz%2ByL._AC_SL1500_.jpg
@little osprey yes typed too fast
Oh good il set that
Hey guys, quick question. Would you OC an "office" PC?
I'm basically building some PCs for my workspace but the PCs themselves will be used by teens. They will be streaming and playing games mostly.
I just don't think, a 15 yo learning about computers and streaming for the first time on a PC will gain anything major from OC. And since I dont know how the maintenance will be
For longevity, I wouldn't.
If someone is curious what it means and how to do it, it's a great learning experience to learn how to dial in multipliers and bus speeds and voltage and all that. But I wouldn't run any of them OC'd full time.
That was my exact thought. Because my boss seems to be really excited about PCs but he's doesn't really understand them as much as I'd like
@spiral zealot thx
You could always designate one of the machines the OC test bench, heh. If anyone wants to learn about it, they can use that machine and pull up a GamersNexus video or something like that and take notes, make some changes, etc. That way if a machine does crap out, it's limited to that specific one.
That makes a lot of sense, I'll speak to him about it
@exotic marten it didn’t work
But it did something
Instead of having one laptop hdd option it was 2 same thing but split one Doesn’t have windows boot manager second one dose
Did you try with no other drives enabled
Not yet
Witch one the one with boot manager or witout
Because with out it dose a random thing not a boot loop tho it makes the screen black and with boot loop
@little osprey what specs
Does your PC have
AMD Ryzen 5 2400G with Radeon Vega Graphics 3.60
sorry i didnt mean to send yet
Do you have a dedicated gpu?
3.60 GHz 8 GB ram64 bit with a 1060evga geforce graphics card
Ok ok
Reason: Bad word usage
?
*** i spent 1000$ on this because i didnt know anything about computers lol
Bruh
yeah lmao
big F for me
First thing you need to do is get more/faster ram imo
alrighty what should i go with because probably with any money i get from Christmas ill be upgrading then ( im 16)
Get a ripjaws 16GB 3200mhz kit
alright ill write that down
That might not be the cheapest though by the time christmas roles around
i was thinking of getting the EVGA rtx 2060 super as a upgrade from what i have but i heard that i have to see if its compatable with my motherboard?
and yeah i agree so ill probably wait till its onsale afterwards
Get 3000 series if you're waiting for Christmas
What motherboard do you have?
If it wasn't that would be super weird
Yeah
i have absolutely no clue lol
He already has a 1060 in it though@sand falcon
So I figure it will work
Yeah
do i need to upgrade my cpu?
No
alright thank you everyone for your help
Maybe a fancy figure
I had thoughts of getting a fractal design meshify s2
It just doesn't feel done.
@little osprey Wow
I still like the looks of this system when I had my RX-580 in here
my 2070 super destroys the 580 though
Heatpipes 👀
now that 580 is in my FX system XD
if I paired the 580 with my FX 9590 I wonder what would happen :?
My FX system isn't done yet though
I just got to get the 24 pin cable in
sometime in the next week or two
I think I have some old photos of my FX build
I miss my old house and setup though
My new room is horrible compared to my old room.
Cool

Need some help troubleshooting my build
If y'all could take a look, it would be much appreciated
@little osprey technically violence would work but we do not condone that here
Oh no
He's buying a prebuilt pc that comes with an i-7 processor which I would assume is an older gen and some graphics card that he claims can run rtx but it isn't an rtx card for about $700 he said
@little osprey offer to build him a custom PC at price
I wish 😂 I've told him that I have a buddy that would help him
But he says he wants a prebuilt and that he'll upgrade it himself 🤷♂️
He knows that prebuilts aren't always easily upgradable?
Yes
But he claims he can do it
So idk tbh 😂
I've never built a PC but I knew buying a prebuilt was bad
Curious if someone can help me figure out where i need to upgrade my pc to do dual video output? I put together a real cheap pc for minecraft with my gf, drawing and just doing basic computer stuff but looks like my oc currently has only 1 video output (HDMI) but was hoping to do dual so i can pull up reference images as my graphics tablet is a monitor so it takes HDMI as well
Will a GPU help or am i looking at a new motherboard?
Ain't looking to put too much in as im no gamer either
you want to connect two monitors to your pc?
Yup
what kind of pc do you have rn
I have a monitor graphics tablet and a regular old viewsonic i just bought
is it just a prebuilt, or did you build it yourself?
Built it myself
so does it have a dedicated graphics card?
I believe the graphics is supposed to be built into the motherboard
Like i said, cheaper build
can you take a pic of the rear of your pc?
Put in #build-pics
:(
My E450 is completely locked down :)
How do I download windows on a desktop hdd that’s completely empty
No upgrade path
How long do prebuilts tend to last? A year?
What kinda cord would i be looking at running through that then?
Look up Compaq CQ2024 and show that to your friend lol
Also oof, when i told my dad my budget he suggest a prebuilt and i was like
No
Depends on the prebuilt
I can always upgrade mine
a displayport cable
Some die within a week, but I've got a 25yo or so still trucking
but make sure your monitor can use one
Ion know I'ma look forward to the day he rages and says he wishes he built his own
No displayport on the monitor but im guessing a displayport to HDMI might do the trick?
eh
for his purposes, its fine
a lot of hdmi caps fps
oh ok
for his purposes, its just a digital signal
Oh God
@sand falcon this the one he buying
Ryzen 3 at $600 😭
Yea
but considering its all new parts, its not bad
It's cheap
i would rather get a used 570 for like 90 bux tho lmao
You're gonna want to upgrade pretty much everything in there though
I don't like cyberpower or iBuypower their builds look to cheap tbh
Fr tho @sand falcon
Thanks a ton man
My dad's a little old school so he doesn't know everything. Also like i said im not too torn on graphics and the likes. The heaviest games I'm doing are minecraft lol
Also my from scratch build was 600 on the nose but half the specs are twice that of those on that prebuilt
My dad helped me piece it but was easy as pie
"Also my from scratch build was 600 on the nose but half the specs are twice that of those on that prebuilt" LOL @spiral shore
At that point you're just paying for someone to put it together and for some fancy lights that matcg
Honestly
Mine has a RGB motherboard and ram though so mine's got bling too
Minecraft gang
These companies lure you in with the fancy rgb
But in all reality it is really bad
I can only imagine wut the back panel looks like with wire management
Pretty much any part you want they got an RGB version of
Or if you don't like that buy some light strips off amazon for $20
Probably adequate
I still gotta buy puck lights since my apartment came with a shelf but also my junk wont fit on them so i gotta get a 2x3 cube organizer
Im gonna have the gayest damn room you ever did see
Rgb puck lights
Lol
Bone disco time
Anyway I gotta head out gotta wake up in about 7 hours for school lol
Talk to u later @spiral shore
Hopefully we can pick up on our conversation tomorrow 😂
Fair enough

idk could be a bios config or the cards vbios
the card might have a mining bios on it
just because the system has a GPU installed doesn't mean it will use it to display
check the card for a physical vbios switch
I assume this is your reddit post
@austere condor how do you make these PCs for so cheap? Are you buying old parts somewhere?
yep
that latest PC i posted i didnt pay for
someone paid me to build it for them
Huh, eBay?
can someone explain why a white version of a cpu cooler is more expensive
Because white isn't a PC part color standard, factory's have to go out of their way to produce white versions, same reason black used to cost a premium
But now everything is black standard so it's not costly anymore
Also pro tip, don't ask Reddit for help, for anything, ever xD
I'm looking for help finding a good mid ranged reasonably priced laptop to begin game development. Is there anybody here willing to help be?
ki
@winter light what is a reasonable price?
I'm willing to spend about 700 - 800
Hello
hello
@winter light try to search with 1650 ti and 16gb ram
@DrPaashaas thank you. I will do that
Can anyone assist me with windows install on a asus rog strix B450-F. I installed windows with a usb the pc rebooted now I have an error. I cant send pictures yet or I would post it
can acer nitro 5 run new games such as cyberpunk 2077 and vampire the masquerades?
Ryzen 5 3600, RX580, 500GB SSD with old 1TB HDD, 16GB ram
650W PSU
ive been told to wait for new ryzen and to get 1660 super
should i?
idk the specs for the new ryzen
imo go for the 1660s tho
maybe the 1660 ti if you can
@crude glen do you need a machine "right now"?
this might sound weird, dont worry about it until you are 2-3 weeks away from actually ordering.
true
Ive just got £112 on amazon so i wanted to use it to get parts
save it
mhm
i am very serious about that
I could re use my case and HDD
you will get better value from saving that money for now
I have £300 rn
Im selling 2 fallout 4 special editions and an xbox one for about £250 at best so will it be enough?
3 minutes ago you had 112£
why are you in such a rush?
Im not
I just wanna sell my xbox b4 the series x comes out
it wont hurt you to have it in a account :)
because the price will drop alot
Hey @crude glen you have to be a weeb right?
Nice
No, just wanted to know
..
@crude glen if you want to sell the Xbox do it, then stick the money in an account as Naed said and wait to buy all the parts at once
@fickle sail love the weathering on the front panel
@foggy hazel thanks man. Lots of hours into that thing. The entire case minus the glass itself is distressed
nifty!
Are all disk readers loud?
@fickle sail do you have a side on photo of the back panel (basically the first photo, but straight on the panel instead of angled)
@little osprey context is a good thing :)
so with that in mind, what do you actually mean by that question?
I put in a driver disk and it sound like a helicopter is flying right over my house
you are talking about a cdrom/dvd drive?
Yes
Mines a huge brick one
the external usb based ones that are normally used with laptops are generally quiet
Just bought it from a mom and pop shop
It's an internal sata brick
I'd take a picture, but it's plugged in and being used
Ok
I'm looking to get a full mod psu, but I'm wanting to buy from local stores. There's one where the only full mod they carry is 1200w and higher. The 1200w is around 100$, I'm running 500w rn. Is there a downside to getting the 1200w?
It may be bigger
And longer
Check the tier of it
And effiency rating if you really care
@little osprey
@desert gulch I have a thermaltake smart 500W
From what I'm told, can't get much worse
But it was some EVGA psu
Check the tier of it
Should be a, b, etc
A+ is the best
Is it a longer psu?
Cause you could have problems fitting it in your case if it is
I have room for a longer one, and idk not at the store rn
1200w evga seems p good
@little osprey what system is using 1200 watts
3090
jk
i think he just wants to future proof
and with it being a good price...
hes asking why not
1200w for $100 bucks?? What is it?
What efficiency rating
Dam 1200 gold good deal
Don't know about longetivity on EVGA psus but I know seasonics be goin forever
@desert gulch nah, not future proofing. Just need a full modular psu and trying to go local seller
I'm currently trying to look at 2 air coolers for my CPU, for when I overclock my system, and I'm having issues figuring out whether or not they clear the heatsinks on my 4 Corsair Vengeance RGB Pro DDR4 RAM sticks. (the coolers in question are the Noctua NH-D15 Chromax.Black, and be quiet's Dark Rock Pro 4)
Can anyone help me with this issue, please?
@plain cloak both would have second fan interfering with ram sticks on standard config
depending on case clearance you can move the fan
you can also get options such as the NH-D15s, which is the same cooler except without the second fan that interferes with the ram sticks
NH-D15 on default config allows for 32mm
yeah, I was looking into an NH-D15 for that reason, cause someone told me about it
DRP4 allows for 40mm
but I still don't know if that'd clear my RAM
and Corsair Vengeance RGB Pro is 51mm tall according to hexus
on the NH-D15s it would have no problem as without the second fan, there is 64mm of clearance
but on the DRP4 there is only ~47mm of clearance on the DRP4 even without the second fan
so the NH-D15 would clear it without the front fan
ok, what about the DRP4 without the front fan
Doesn't clear
ok
would taking the front fan off the NH-D15 have any negative impact on cooling my CPU if I was to OC it?
I mean why not a d15s, saves you 10$ if you don't need the front fan xD
ofc it'll take some cooling off but it'll still be good
or u could get the u12a
it looks good tho+ a12x25
looking for something black btw, as it'll match my build better lol
that's an AIO, right
wait hold up
the front fan on the NH-D15 is a 140mm, right?
cause if so.. couldn't I just replace that 140mm with a 120mm, and just raise the 120mm up a little, so it clears the RAM's heatsinks?
no
you do remember noctua fans are mostly beige right?
anyways, it's a 150mm fan, hence the "nf-a15"
What are the minimum specs for streaming
Mmm
afaik the mounting is for 140mm
don't quite remember
the mounting thing uses these holes
that's the a15
u can mount a 140x140, 140x150, or 120x120
so I CAN mount 120mm fans on it
yeah
140x150x25 (with 120mm mounting holes), 140x140x25 (with 120mm mounting holes), 120x120x25
ya
I wonder if I could put a 120mm black fan on the front, then move that 140mm to the back..
(btw I have an MSI MAG B550 Tomahawk as my motherboard)
(so I can only hope that cooler will fit... lol)
mobo and cpu cooler usually don't have compatibility issues
ok
I have a D15 slapped on a MSI B450 gaming pro carbon ac
Ram clearence
And case clearence
Is what you have to worry about when using new cooler
but would the NH-D15 Chromax.Black fit on my board with the front 140mm fan moved to the back of the cooler without hitting the massive heatsink on the board's I/O?
Did you get that i3 10100 from microcenter today? @wary geode
Check the case clearence
No
the case wouldn't be an issue, I'm just wanting to make sure the cooler with the front fan on the back will fit
It will hit
I did it on mine
I think the tomahawk has a bigger heatsink than my pro carbon ac
My fan moved to the back is like up right against the acrylic side panel from standing on vrm
@plain cloak what case?
Lian Li's Lancool II
you'll have a bit more space than I did
tbh I love newegg for listing specs so easily
You should be able to do it and move the fan to the back
ok.. so my motherboard should allow that?
Here's my build with fan moved to back
you see how the back fan is nudged up like 8cm
by the VRM heatsink
your case has a higher listed case clearance for CPU coolers than mine
Mine barely fits basically
well Ik, but I mean if that huge heatsink on the back of my board will allow it to fit
lemme get you a side-by-side
Still got dat neo
What are the minimum specs for streaming
depends on the game
Pretty good
@plain cloak since both heatsinks are about as tall as io shield, I'll just show io shields, tomahawk:
cant find good pic for pro carbon ac...
but they're pretty similar sized
it should work
ok.. so that won't be an issue if I put the front 140mm fan on the back, then put a 120mm on the front in the place of the 140mm
??
why do you need a 120mm
you're just moving the front fan to the back
@plain cloak I mean if you want 3 fans stuck on there ig you could?
but anyways do remember moving the fan to the back is slightly bootleg
It doesn't tell you that you should do it, but it makes sense and fits sooo
.-. Ik that
Hey
ya
Any were between 2.7 ghz the and 3.5 ghz for the games I want to stream
@robust plover what games
Will a 13 9100f work I have a budget of 650 for pc
@robust plover don't just look at frequency lol
bulldozer could go 5ghz and not beat a stock 3600 at 4ghz lel
J would use like a 3100-3600 and 1650s
3100+1650s should work
So can I get a good streaming pc for 650 dollars
Decent enough
without monitor
Just set yiur expectations
A display
If you dont mind could you send me a pc part picker list for a good 650 dollar streaming pc if you want
Do you need monitor?
Thanks what about the compatible issue
pcpp being dumb with bios update
You sure
Yes
The time that warning would be relevant is about a year ago
as long as you're not buying a used board someone bought from more than a year ago and never updated bios on
it's gonna have F40 or higher
Ok do I need a 2tb hdd
it's nice to have
if you want to record vod to store somewhere
or get some big boi games
like MW at like 200gb
Ok sorry for so many questions what is a good streaming software
Yea
Easy setuo
if you want something really low-effort, the Nvidia built in thing that comes with Nvidia experience
What size screw driver do u need to bulid a pc
it's good enough if you just want to have some fun streaming
Ok do I need to buy windows
5$ windows key from ebay, or software-codes.com
Is it safe
What size screw driver do I need to bulid a pc
there's been a few people on this discord that bought from software-codes.com and got it
I got mine from ebay
I dunno, just get a few different sized bits @nova axle
@foggy hazel can you answer about the specific screw sizes usually?
Case screw sizes seem pretty standard across the board
along with standoffs
Okay thx
can anyone help me i bought a hdd from newegg and it wont initialize i moved its sata ports 4 times and it still wont read it only my ssd works
it says unknown on the disk management but on bios it recognizes it
The cpu is 130 on newegg
Also.. what did you mean when you said "but anyways do remember moving the fan to the back is slightly bootleg," @stoic island
Never mind
Read what I wrote below that
The manual doesn't tell you to do it, but it also works
Should be
People did testing with where they mounted both fans iirc, there was minimal difference as long as the fans were facing the right way
Do I need a m.2 ssd or can I got with a regular one
Either
what would an additional 120mm fan in place of the front 140mm fan do? Wouldn't that increase airflow?
M.2 NVMe SSDs offer performance gains over SATA 2.5in SSDs. (Ofc m.2 SATA SSDs are about the same as 2.5in SATA)
There is dimishing returns lol
Can't stick 10 fans in a case and the cooling gain keeps going up
So I can go with a ssd
I'd suggest no because that might mess with the airflow
@robust plover price wise it's making more and more sense to grab a m.2 SSD, and also easier to set up.
ok
Esp a crucial P1/P2
Cheap
Ok
If you're looking at SATA SSDs you're looking at p1p2 price range
Like 60$ for 500gb
Diminishing returns again
Matters for me but guess not for most
2000mb/s to 3000mb/s read write is really hard to notice for the usual person
Even for larger file transfers
@stoic island I appreciate it man thanks
I do file transfers in like 2-3tbs
I ordered a cpu and they sent it to a different city lmao
Rip
Oof
Logistics systems are a mess
Yup
@nova axle @stoic island #2 phillips works fine for you. As long as you are just doing a normal assembly
and yes @stoic island, the screws are fairly standard nowadays
Alright thanks Naed, sorry if I got you at a bad time in your timezone
can i put a funko figurine on top of my graphics card?
thank the many tentacled god of technicians that 5.25 drives are not really a thing anymore, because those had a tendency to come with fairly random sized screws
@stoic island dont worry about it, you cannot force me to answer and i dont have discord audible on the phone :)
As long as it can withstand a decent temperature and doesn't really block airflow it should be fine afaik.
Heh alright
No idea how big your figurine is
As long as it's not like stretching across your case
just a standard funko of Chewbacca
Going to throw him in there once put a different cpu cooler in
It chilling in there for a while for some pics should be fine, as long as it doesn't like melt at 100c or something
Yw
so when I take out my usb flash drive and turn of my pc, it shows bios. I did everything i was just playing my game
@foggy hazel thx
Anyone have suggestions for a $1000-1200 in canadian gaming set up(after tax) I’m Trynna get into pc gaming that’s why I’m join yin’s of giveaways and stuff
canadian dollars?
No
Those are all fine
Just the pic is what I’m concerned about
Pc*
Yeah canadian dollars
Ok thanks?
Sorry didn’t mean the question mark
I had a pc chosen already and wanna know how good it’d be and what I should tweak
1000cad should get you 3100+1660s with 2x8gb ram and 500gb of SSD storage as a mininum imo
Ok
I got 3600+1660s with 2x8gb ram and 500gb ssd+2tb hdd with a decent case and a good PSU
I can’t send a link to the pc part picker
mr1 how you draw on screenshots
Also you'll want to be using ca.pcpartpicker.com and not pcpartpicker.com because one uses CAD as default currency and one uses USD
I use lightshot
it's just a simple thing for me as an alternative to snipping tool or sharex
Ahh ok
cant send links until ur level 3
remove the https:// and itll work
First, that's in USD
Ik
and all the listed parts use US retailers
prices are different in canada
shipping is different
that's why you should use ca.pcpartpicker.com :D
anyways
Ok I’ll check on the cad site
@stoic island y u no use b550 mobo so you don’t have to flash the bios
B450 will come ryzen 3000 ready
ig
its like, difficult to find a b450 that doesnt support ryzen 3000 now
unless you get old stock
ca..com/list/HyqyYH
dude roasted 90% of the choices 😳
it’s a budget list right?
What would you recommend instead?
the list I sent earlier
“old part” lmao
Ok
What about a cooling fan?
ryzen 5 comes with one
you could get a cheaper 1660s at best buy or amazon
for like 230-240
