Anyone know why the mounting brackets on a b450 gaming pro max won't come off?
The screw reach a high point then go back down and I can't remove them
The mounting screws for the standoffs?
Does anyone know if the Thermaltake v200 TG supports a vertical GPU?
@inland ridge sorry for not responding sooner. I can do whatever
anyone willing to help me in #graphics-cards or #old-cooling ?
Man let me try to remember
Good airflow cases
Got it
Brb
@undone shore
https://www.gamersnexus.net/tag/cases
Check the reviews
For personal preference i was checking 3 cases
-meshify c white
-P400a
Corsair 220 airflow
GamersNexus is the authority on in-depth computer hardware reviews as it pertains to gaming.
At the end went with meshify c
Thanks, I like the P400a
@severe bloom no mounting bracket for coolers
@sand falcon here’s some benchmarks from my $199.75 PC for you since you wanted them
That's actually not terrible
@fast dust you can use a program called snipping tool to copy/paste a section of the screen in windows, just type snip into the start menu
Well yeah but I didn’t want to go through the process of sending the screenshot to myself
you dont have to, can paste it right into discord 🙂
The machine probably doesn't have discord on it
ah didn't think about that dur :p
Yeah it’s for a PC flip. I don’t wanna log into discord on it
Second time I ran cinebench it gave me 910 points instead of 895
@severe bloom you dont even need snipping tool, just Alt+PrtScn does active program
I'm still annoyed that right when I decided I wanted to build a new computer.... the world went nuts, prices skyrocketed and stock is unreliable
If you want to get all of the program that works too
pc complete wanna see pics
setup i shouuld say
all i need is the last rgb fan and everything is done
Hey im just wondering should I get a video card or a graphics card?
sorry im literally brand new to PC builds, so im guessing graphics
They’re the same thing
Reason: Bad word usage
im sorry
Haha you’re good
@hallow mesa let us know your budget, country and what are you planning to do with your pc? It will be for gaming only? What games are you planning to play?
Would you need monitor, mouse and keyboard
?
Do you care about rgb,
?
Alright so im on a budget of a thousand right now, im in America, and i plan it for purely gaming. Mainly the games I'll be playing is Garry's mod, TF2, and CS:GO
I do already have a monitor mouse and keyboard
ive just really never tried to build one, always have been prebuilts
Not really
but yea I do need something that'll be able to run Garry's mod since I literally have 13k hours on it
also I do play HOI4 a lot
and other strategy games like it
Yea but I think I'm gonna go with the Ryzen 3600X core processor, since I've heard they're pretty good
and also, it's not that it's that I cant run them
it's that my computer is literally on its last legs, as I've had it for 4 years, and it's slowed down insanely
like 20-30 FPS on even some smaller games like TF2, so
Rate my build https://pcpartpicker.com/list/JjpW7T
Any tips and anything else would be appreciated
Can I get some help with building myself a PC too? I have a gaming laptop but it struggles running some higher end games like MW and Ark (on high graphics), so I’m wanting to replace it.
@hallow mesa between a 3600 and 3600x there’s no much difference in performance
A 3300x should be enough for those games too
Cheaper than the 3600
Anyone know where to get reasonably priced windows 10 key?
I could help
I have a budget of $1000-1250, not including a monitor & keyboard that I’ll need to buy. Something that could smoothly run Ark & Modern warfare without and stuttering.
Could do better than a 660p
yes you can
No let me make you a list
Much appreciated. 😸
Streaming you just wouldn't want to drop below the 3600
3600 2070 super build is what I assume
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/spfQQq
@hallow mesa
This list is just for reference, there’s some stuff you can still switch out too, for example PSU, case and.....
That's what I'd expect at the 1200$ mark
Below the 3600? Sorry I’m not sure what that means.
1660s better
I just mean wouldn't get a lower spec CPU than the ryzen 3600
I'm building my first pc soon. I hope it's works out like I want it to.
Oooh okay
ventus apparently has meh cooling
Is that the finished build?
You can probbaly fit in a 2070s
ye thats what I just saw
I feel that at the end it all comes down to your budget and what you prefer
The Gigabyte OC one at 500$
That does look like a nice build... including with the monitor
@inland ridge Thank you so much for helping me through this 😄
RoG one at 620 with taxes
Oh yeah do you need monitor
If I bought everything from that list, would that be everything I’d need to build the PC myself at home?
I would wait a little longer tbh
You would need more fans but that cost like 20 bucks more
Ye
Man that’s the hard part
Os on an USB stick that too
I’ve no idea how to get windows in a USB
I can't post a link for pcpartpicker in here. Why?
Well you don't need a magnetic screw bit at all
You don’t but makes your Life easier
@little osprey download windows instalation tool, that's it
I built my PC with a Swiss army knife
Savage
And the included Noctua screwdriver thing
Mr1111 what was your budget when you started?
1600 at first
Mine was like 1500 and I’m probably over 1000 usd over
@stoic island a swiss army knife that hopefully has a screw driver in it
Then put like 500$ in upgrades
Rn to buy all the parts in my build it's 1800$ about
Including monitor
Thank you guys for the help. 😸 I’ll probably ask more eventually though since I’m still new to this.
@stoic island what was that m2 you were talking about the other night?
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/cQFvGc I think that’s current
The only thing that is not there is that my current case is not there (Corsair spec-02)
but why 90 for a cpu cooler?
@viral ore it's good!
Software: win10 + office 2019
I have a d15 and I'm very happy
well, yeah
Because my budget was kinda high
but im not sure if a 65w tdp cpu is in need of 90 dollars in cooling
My friend is currently building. Everything seems to be plugged in correctly. The motherboard is getting power but the computer isnt turning on. Either trying to jump it or with the front panel connectors plugged in correctly. Anyone have ideas?
It might last me multiple decades
I would assume it should be good for gen4 while the stock may not
i see that with the x570
And who knows if gen4 will even come with coolers
@fierce flame did he plug in the cpu power ?
And with Noctua they ship free upgrade brackets for new sockets
I'm planning for the future
This... a lot of people told me that x570 wasn’t necessary, that a b450 would do the job
So I can keep using it without having to spend a penny
Yeah it's an 8pin and 4pin together on top
:p
mr1111 wdym noctua
Noctua ftw
A cooler
I have a d15
im talking about the pcpp list juan sent
@fierce flame any post codes?
:p
Yea so Juan prob has something similar with bequiet
Does anyone know why I can't put pcpp links in the chat?
It was preference for me
@tall agate you must have a rank
I did it myself
who made it
They built it
Ah. How do I get one?
@inland ridge I think you could get a faster CL memory kit for the same price or maybe slightly higher
its not bad, just needs a few tweaks is all
@tall agate Just take the http part of the link
Ah ok
Doesnt even posy
You get ranks by talking and showing you're not a troll
This is my current build and I'm happy
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/xwPqHB
All with relevant prices
Everything else isnt turning on. But the motherboard is getting power cause the LED is on for it
pcpartpicker.com/list/VQDTgJ This will be my build in a couple months
@little leaf
Pricing
The CPU cooler is way overpriced
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/K9xpvW here is my build
I'd like to change a lot of that @tall agate :p
@fierce flame I meant like indicators of cpu / ram
What's the total budget?
About 2500
Dont know what that means sorry
I'd pull back on CPU cooler and go for 10700k or 10900k
I'll make a 2500$ list in a sec
Debug LEDs?
Mune was builded already
@viral ore Why the x570?
oh...
@fierce flame yes
Are you putting those harddrives in raid @tall agate?
i thought you were asking for opinions
I wasn't going to.
Ohhh my bad
lol, its fine
I have a few friends who built their own and didn't use raid
Probably best to just get a 4TB drive then. It's usually cheaper
I will ask for opinions after I finish upgrading my set up
I've looked at 4tb but they're slower then 2 7200rpm drives
Apex pro tkl
Meshify c
Razer viper ultimate
Rgb fans
That’s part of the upgrades
After that I will try to get a better chair and desk
The drive should read the same speed. You won't get an increase in performance with two drives unless you use raid
ah
Currently have the cheapest mouse and keyboard combination that was available when i went to microcenter
How legit is digitalkey and G2deals for windows key
eBay usually better
It was hella expensive
140 for w10 and another 120 for office 2019
I didn’t wanted to risk it
My current laptop has a cracked version on office 2013 iirc and the mofo sometimes crashes on its own while saving
Which eBay still has great buyers protection over, you can prob get that 3$ back
Meh
This is close to mine https://pcpartpicker.com/list/ would of been more if the 3080ti had been out already. It was a little cheaper as 1 m2 and the sata ssd were carry overs and lets not talk about how much I spent on water cooling. Lucky my wife <3's me
can't put cooling equiment in there but thats the heart
if you go to school, your school might give you a free office subscription when you sign into the Microsoft Store or on Microsoft Office on Microsoft's site with your school account
I didn’t mind much that money since it was a expense for business
@severe bloom it’s emty
If you have a friend that has a MSDN account (software dev) be nice to them and they can get you a key
Empty
@tall agate Do you need wifi?
I will have ethernet
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/Nc6Jdm my bad :p
Running a cable from our router to my room
Cool
relatable
Ethernet ftw
I'm running cat 6
My water setup started with a Heatkiller IV TR Pro block
So I know nothing about intel motherboards, so I'm just slapping a decent brand on there
Nice
This is a round-up of the best Z490 motherboards for Intel 10-series CPUs, like the i5-10600K, i7-10700K, and i9-10900K. Ranges $150 to $750, looking at if expensive boards are really worth it.

I'm slapping together a build with z490 tomahawk

I've found them for good prices
Overclocking at all @tall agate ?
$110 for a keyboard is a bit pricey
Shhh don’t judge me for choosing razer over Logitech
I will be trying some overclocking. I want to test the limits without breaking my pc
Okay

aight I'll slap on a competent cooler then
My cpu setup can cool the sun.... lol bad sesnor reading on older win 10
Started with intel, and on a high budget build it's still marginally better
@inland ridge large budget gaming
yummy
Above 1400$ imo pure gaming intel takes over
Though not quite as large... monitor and peripherals are in that budget
What GPU are you being able to fit?
I feel@so
eh slightly over 2500, overpriced keyboard but I just slapped something in @sand falcon 2080s+10700k
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/f4C7b8
some stuff are out of stock so slapped on a price
they should be in stock somewhat soon
What's with the case?
You cut back on storage
rgb with the case seems better
Yea I did slightly
get a decent 70$ keyboard and slap in another 50$ dedicated to storage
Yeah, barracuda 4TB is $99 right now, so that will be good
yikes isn't that 5200rpm though?
I don't really know keyboards that well
7200
ah okay
you sure?
Could you find a cheaper monitor too?
I only see 5400rpm barracuda 4tb
I mean, mine is. They might be oos at that speed right now
eh that monitor is just really good
not many other 1440p 144hz monitors that I like <400$ :P
as in
You can get a k70 special edition at bestbuy for 110
I don't know any of those cheaper panels
K70 is just a good keyboard with brown switches, I like em, placeholder for now
If you have a microcenter near you https://www.microcenter.com/product/623930/aoc-cq27g2--27-wqhd-144hz-hdmi-dp-freesync-curved-led-gaming-monitor isn't a bad monitor at all
It is a good keyboard
299.99
I would have bought it but they didn’t had tkl
Went with apex pro tkl
Will try it for little bit
VG271u looks good
If I don’t like it will retuned
I'll slap that in
https://www.microcenter.com/product/621851/lenovo-g32qc--315-qhd-144hz-hdmi-dp-freesync-curved-led-gaming-monitor isn't that bad either
32inch tho
Hehe I have a 32in 1080p xD
Could also look for open box monitors
I used to have a 32" in 720p
thought it was 1080p the whole time until I started to realize how easy it was to run stuff haha
Acer Predator XB271HU bmiprz 27" WQHD (2560x1440) NVIDIA G-SYNC IPS Monitor, (Display Port & HDMI Port, 144Hz) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B06ZXZ3QBD/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apip_VX7va4CRnLNcm
380 on Black Friday
oh I was using a TV at the time lmfao
When next gen cards hit supporting latest display port and hdmi all these monitors are going to go on sale cheap
slightly changed
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/jdmX7T
what's WQHD? I thought QHD is 1440p
brah
My 2060 is a gigabyte oc pro I got on eBay for 200
WQHD is literally just QHD with an extra character that probably nobody knows what it stands for haha
lol
but is it a real 2060?
whole qhd
whole quad high definition
next gen should have these ports
tbh, i just say 1080p, 1440p, and 4k, because every other standard is practically dead
yeaa
4k @ 360hz when?
holy brap
Well.
Will a single card in next gen be able to do that i doubt it maybe a 3090 titan or whatever they are going to call it
brap
I should but it can push warzone max graphics with rtx just fine
So should we see a card able to do that we will see new monitors as well, hoping so bc current monitors will get cheap
HDMI 2.0 can also do 1440p 144Hz
Lol I feel behind i don’t even own a display port cord xD
Lol
Can plug more monitors in with display port 😄 lol
i use DP on all 3 of my monitors
I have HDMI on one of my monitors (it doesn't have DP lol)
Chill
Stop
pgo
pgo
Lol
Prague
Spaghetti
China
@sand falcon Is this one a bit better? pcpartpicker.com/list/kJy6f9
Petition
Again, 120mm rad not worth
Z490 gaming edge a bit high end eh
no need for extra thermal paste
970 evo expensive
Mp34 better for price to performance
RTX 2060 is very underpowered for 1440p @tall agate
best get at least 2070 super
and 3$ windows keys
that's a lot of power lol
Yeah only get a 970 evo if you can get it on sale. I only have them bc I got my first one a long time ago when it was the best choice and the pro one I got bc it was on sale at microcenter 1tb for 179 back in january
Hey I building in a month or so and I'm going to use a 1660s and upgrade later down the line, I play a lot of open world games and really when the game looks nice so I have narrowed it down to 2 monitors the aoc 24g2 and the pixio px27h, the aoc is a 1080p 144hz ips panel, and the pixio is a 1440p 95hz ips panel, I don't believe I'm going to be getting into the 100+ fps on most of the games I'm going to be playing so is it okay to get a slower refresh monitor sense I shouldn't be needing 144hz very often if at all
Well monitors can be a fairly long term investment
Yes indeed, I've never really worked with anything more than 60hz so I don't know if I need more than the 95hz offered and once I find a good deal on a higher end graphics card Ill like to have a better image quality so that's why I was considering the pixio
Oh and also
1080p and 1440p have a difference
@olive briar you can get 100+fps on 1080p with a 1660 super
but not really 95fps on 1440p
(ultra settings avg in games)
Do you have any suggestions for a good monitor with g-sync for a price?
Most freesync monitors have G-sync
and again I suggest you take a look at this list @tall agate
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/MPzJdm
change the keyboard mouse headset around as you'd like
maybe go for a 2070 super if you need to save the money
but at least a 2070 super, with 2080 super being ideal
just not the evga black
how much will rtx 3080 be if it comes out
At least the price of a 2080 if not more
I assume it will be close to the titan pricing
how much is the titan?
is titan good for gaming and streaming or just one or the other
all i know is its hella expensive
Yeah you hit it
Is this a good pcpartslist? I was wondering if this is a good list for some light steaming and gaming and also some light school homework on the side. Any help or feedback would be appreciated! https://pcpartpicker.com/list/WLFLNq And also what can I change to make the pc better?
I just changed it to be a MSI GeForce RTX 2060 Super 8gb GPU
What kind of homework?
What will you be studying in school?
So not mechenical engineering
So looking over this, the ssd is odd. I'll have to check it out real quick
I need a strong pc for College. I'm majoring in Photo Imaging which includes photography/photo editing and video editing and processing
The 970evo is one of the leaders for highend M.2 right now.
970 Evo is overpriced unless you get it on a good sale
The ADATA seems decent. A tad pricey, but it's decent,
970evo is very expensive
More expensive than the team drives
@spiral flax You might consider just using the stock cooler
Later on for my setup I'll be adding an xbox to it. I already have a 32" tv to mount once my build is done
Well 970 evo is just expensive
Also, your case already comes with fans, so you don't really need more
with no performance gain
SN750 beats it in everything
sustained read write
sequential read write
Durability?
That's one thing that samsung has had in their favour for a bit, though it seems like most people are catching up
So when my pc goes to sleep, is there a way to wake it up using my enter key. It works on my dads pc but I have to wake up my pc using the power switch.
How good is the Crucial P1 M.2
I have seen team force recommended
Wait you have to use the power button wtf that's wierd I can use any key
For 1tb I would listen to @stoic island https://www.newegg.com/western-digital-black-sn750-nvme-1tb/p/N82E16820250110 that price can't be beaten for the performance
It will be a bit slower
It's almost sus
Is this better Bob? pcpartpicker.com/list/xNsd7T
120mm rad
expensive motherboard
expensive high latency ram
still low end gpu
can get windows 10 pro key for 3$
Do you know of any settings for it @humble rivet
and keyboard is meh
It's a 2060Super. I need the most bang for the buck.
What Mr1111 said. The list he did earlier is pretty good
I can slap in a 2070s to my earlier list and get more leftover money
2080s is not great price to perf
I still need money for camera gear and money for car insurance and maintenance.
@woven wedge do you know if the usb power still works while it's a sleep?
@spiral flax https://pcpartpicker.com/list/xVL8cq
I shaved some of the extra price off
Hi
oh whisper m is still in stock eh
Sometimes systems have USB power in sleep, some don't
Yeah ik
Yes my rgb turns on but nothing on the pc turns on
If you plug in a mouse does it light up?
My razer tri you naga didn’t do anything when I re plugged it in while off. Brobably cause the rgb is set to turn off when the screen is off.
Trinity
Okay
@little leaf
We ended up giving up
Tried a different power supply didn't work
Tried jumping but he didn't have a screwdriver big enough to jump
Ggs
Yeah its all dependent on the board. My MSI Creator has 3 ports that will stay on and let you charge a device or leave the leds on the mouse on but the rest are all off. my asus board that died all ports were on when it was off
Found it I think
Nice
Thanks for the link @humble rivet
can confirm it did work
@stoic island just did a user benchmark test and got this
UserBenchmarks: Game 78%, Desk 65%, Work 64%
CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 3600 - 82.8%
GPU: Nvidia RTX 2060 - 84.5%
SSD: Samsung 970 Evo NVMe PCIe M.2 500GB - 229.6%
HDD: WD Blue 1TB (2012) - 100.6%
RAM: G.SKILL Ripjaws V DDR4 3200 C16 2x8GB - 86.6%
MBD: MSI B450 TOMAHAWK MAX (MS-7C02)
Can you give the link?
What happened with the SSD?
all fairly normal
im not sure but the benchmark through Samsung magician says its great
also is it generally ok to oc a monitor
i would like to get a little more than 75 out of the one i have
I've never heard of it killing a monitor but idk
https://www.newegg.com/msi-geforce-rtx-2060-rtx-2060-gaming-z-6g/p/N82E16814137379?Item=N82E16814137379 Hey im just wondering is this a good graphics card to get? I honestly am eyeing this, if it's bad, any suggestions for one at a similair price?
I wouldnt get that one, either pay 40 bucks more for a 2060 super or 60 bucks less for a 2060 ko.
Your essentially paying 60 dollars for lights on that one
Alright, thank you man

big stonks lmao
it's the same price as this one video card that was only 3 gig memory

¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Very big stonks
What are you using it for?
Mainly heavy gaming, like I am getting into more bigger games like Ark, and garrys mod mainly
garrys mod is big only cause I play with a shitload of mods
Are you planning to stream?
As in purple stream site funny? Cause if so I do it a bit, yea
Also you might want to delete that one word. Mods don't like it
oh yea
well damn
Nvm lol
Ya, if you can find a 2060super in stock id go with that
does limit 20 per person mean it has a good stock
also it has a 15 dollar off thing, so
pog
Uhhh probably lol
Np
Im interested in building my first pc but ive heard that prices atm are skyrocketing is there much truth to that?
oh ok awesome! would it be smarter to wait a couple of more weeks or would it be safe to go ahead and start ordering parts now?
well rn, psu is quite hard to come by if you want one in the common 550 - 750 range
if you want gold 80+
but if you're okkay with brozne, I think it'll be easier
the rest is fine
also, if you go ryzen, b550 release is tomorrow
oh ok thank you very much for the help
Wait as long as you can :P
Can someone send me links to something I can build with a $200 budget😭 I just need help
That might work
Everything you need for 200?
Optiplex has everything
Oh
You just need a gpu for gaming
Optiplex is one of those dell work PCs with like Intel i3 4--- chips
Ohhhh optiplex as in those school computers
Plus ram and motherboard and storage and PSU
Yea
For example this
https://www.ebay.com/itm/Dell-Optiplex-3020-MT-Core-i3-4130-500-GB-HDD-8-GB-PC3-RAM-Win10-WiFi/143627841950?hash=item2170e2f19e:g:axoAAOSwERFePGAa
Plus say
Like this rx570
https://www.ebay.com/itm/MSI-Radeon-RX-570-Gaming-X-4GB-Graphics-Card-Used/223762365249?hash=item341946bb41%3Ag%3AD2MAAOSwMoZd2DkX&LH_BIN=1
@agile cloak that will give you a decent enough experience
Just a few more hours, and the build can begin. Then the not fun part of installing windows.
Heck, even an RX 560 would be decent compared to what I have
If that leads to a cheaper price than the 570...if not, then just go with the 570 ofc
just a quick question that i can't seem to get a straight answer on from google. i currently have a 500gb ssd as my storage on my current build. doing my new build once my parts come in. I want to keep all my files and apps and windows and transfer it to my new PC. assuming compatibility, can i just plug in my old ssd into my new build and keep all my data? or would i have to find some method of transferring it to a new ssd?
don't need any problems haha. just want to know how to get my new build running with all my files and data from my previous build.
If it's a new motherboard you will definitely need to reactivate windows. I put an old HHD with a new build never ran into issues. Though my computer now is a brand new build.
I'm not sure how that would work
Would installed programs function properly?
On both C and E, F, G etc. Drives
Yes, never had issues. Still the same HHD, just new system. Programs installed on an a HHD stay on the HHD. Just have to reactivate windows.
Alright neat
Hmm
Got me curious what kind of Windows key I have
It's something you can identify by its structure, right?
i might do a backup just incase. have a lot of important stuff on my ssd. can't afford to lose it
Should do that anyway lol
i can probably just buy a cheap hdd for that right?
No matter what your doing, its always a good idea to back up your data. I use cloud back up.
yeah i guess cloud backup is better in some ways
No worry about corrupt data, when using cloud storage. Physical drives run the risk of corrupting your data
Theres slot just do your research. Go with what you feel is best for your needs and price point.
Could I get someone to rate a build that was suggested to me?
Hey what's a good build with a budget of 1500
@Shadow_bullet#8206 https://pcpartpicker.com/list/Ds86f9
@Shadow_bullet#8206 https://pcpartpicker.com/list/Ds86f9
@stark quail
@little leaf https://pcpartpicker.com/list/mcMLNq i came up with this (need 32gb ram for rendering, video editing, school work, and gaming)
Also getting some fans that are like 20-30 5 kit
Been reading reviews on ebay for windows 10, and man that's some scary stuff. Will be having nightmares now. More than willing to pay 140$ for windows 10 home, from Microsoft.
Can't believe people are willing to risk that.
@little osprey no windows ten for 140 bucks is a rip off even rom windows lol
I got windows for 5 bucks
Surprised it works
Works fine and works fine for all the other pcs I built
Not from ebay but not from microsoft or any where near the price point of 140
Yea, but was it from a Microsoft authorized retailer
No
So no Microsoft support then?
I mean I guess not but why would you need microsoft support?
@stark quail let me fix that for you
The price of some of those parts are absurd
Okay thanks
more rgb

Nitro
rgb 😂
How do I make this setup look better
@ionic osprey start with a match. j/kget somee rgb rocks like i got
woah
i cant seem to post picks of my rgb rocks
All these am4 socket motherboards are out of stock? Should I go with the b550 since it just released? @.me
yeah they seem fine. What does it mean when I see in the specs that the max refreshrate the hdmi can support is 60hz? In the https://www.gigabyte.com/Motherboard/B550-AORUS-ELITE-rev-10/sp#sp
I was noticing the same thing
Was gonna get the asus tuf, new egg sells for 190, but out of stock. Only place it's Amazon for 375
Was thinking of switching to the gigabyte auros pro wifi for 270 at that point
oh yeah, tysm
i dont have bluetooth???
any help why??
my dad was saying i needa get a card for all of that
is that correct
If you didn't buy a mobo that has it... just get a usb stick, or a pcle card if you like
Sounds about right
how can i tell if my mb has it
I'd go with the stick. Bluetooth is fairly low bandwidth
What motherboars do you have?
rog strix b450-f gaming
Looks like no bluetooth
thats v v v sad
Usually, the wifi mobos also have bluetooth built in
yea true i mean i use ether net so i didnt think i needed a card for wifi but i should have got one cause now i no have bluetooth
Any changes y’all think I should do for this submerge liquid build
That's the only reason I got the wifi version of my board.
But yeah, that link I sent is a good option. Bluetooth 5.0 dongles are more pricey
yea true is there a stick with wifi and bluetooth
There are
Yeah. If you're getting one with wifi anyways, you should look for 802.11ac
okay is the one i linked good
It's overpriced
the one I linked is the same thing (also from a reputable brand) for $8 less
You don't need a card. USB works fine
ASUS Dual Band 802.11AC Wireless-AC2100 Pci-E Bluetooth 5 Gigabit WiFi Adapter, 160MHz Support (Pce-AC58BT) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07P61CK87/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_zM65Eb4PQKDMM
You could but I like having all my USB ports
That is bluetooth 5 which is a bonus
She needed Wi-Fi and Bluetooth but if you just need Bluetooth that usb will be fine
imma just get bluetooth
Well if he changes his mind that’s a pretty decent card and does great for both Wi-Fi and Bluetooth.
USB can be split out indefinitely
Yeah but I prefer to not have a usb hub or anything else external. A splitter doesn’t give that single port your on more bandwidth
okay so i just need bluetooth
so is there a usb hub i can buy to put in my computer and not havit it on the outside
Yeah
Yes something like NZXT Internal USB Hub - Expands 5 USB 2.0 Ports - Sleek Multifunctional Design - Molex Connection - Plug and Play https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01IFGFTJ2/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_Hd75EbCNYA06Z
Google internal USB hub. It basically plugs into the front panel header and has a nother header on the output
It has more headers and some ports
does it have fan ports cause i wanna add more fans
ahh so maybe i just get the usb and plug it in to the fron cause you cant really see the front where my pc is sitting cause i wanna add one or 2 more fans to my build
iCUE Commander PRO Smart RGB Lighting and Fan Speed Controller (CL-9011110-WW) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0725HP1J2/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_4e75Eb4NQ2BBF has usb headers but no ports
okay cool thankis
You can also get fan connector splitters, but that will draw more power from the mobo fan connectors
Would you take a 500gb ssd and 2tb hdd or 1tb ssd?
Games, 1tb nvme :D
Sata
That's a bit tougher
would a 500GB M.2 be enough for installing Win 10 and whatever miscellaneous programs I'd need? or should I go 250?
What programs?
Chrome, Razer software for my Keyboard that sorta thing. I've heard people recommend 250GB or 500GB M.2s for Windows 10 and whatever else you'd need
even if not all of it would be used
You can install win10 on 128GB if you need to, but if you want games, you want 500GB+
I'm doing a 2TB SSD for games
Probably could do 256GB easy then
my original plan was to get a 2TB Nvme M.2 for Windows 10 and Games, but the one I found has bad reviews
Which was it?
Adata XPG SX8200 Pro
reviews said it didn't get advertised speeds and a good number of people had it die on them pretty quick
No drive will get the advertised speeds in standard loads. The speeds they list are for the Absolute optimum situation
Durability though is a potential issue
Hey im just wondering if this is a solid build (sorry that it's on google docs) My budget is 1k..
https://docs.google.com/document/d/1Pxsf9ev71B88b_UYIeo3M7NSGSWWQPOnI4h5Qz4TYFw/edit?usp=sharing

im super new to pc building so..
@sand falcon
Can you recommend me a good 250 or 256 GB M.2? It has to be M interface though
Does the motheboard only support that?
mp34 is a good cheap one. WDs blacks are good for a slightly more expensive drive
Yeah
Are there any of the newly released mobos that have built in wifi for cheap?
So you looking for b550, b450, or x570?
What CPU?
5 3600
b450 will be fine then. When they're in stock, you can get a board with wifi for ~80-100 bucks
Oh and would also prefer a nvme slot, it's fine if there isn't any, I have an external adapter
Almost all b450 will have an nvme slot
All the ones I know of do, but there might be some weird one that doesn't
Ok
just check the board specs and you'll be fine 👍
these are my choices for a Boot Drive
I'm inclined to go with Team Group as I'm trying to make my build as budget as I can
i think for a little extra you can get 500gb https://www.newegg.com/western-digital-black-sn750-nvme-500gb/p/N82E16820250109
dat heatsink model doe lol
500GB seems a bit much for what I'll be using it for though
however the 250 model is nice
Can I get linked a good thermal paste?
@hallow mesa just look up Arctic MX-4 on Newegg or wtv. It’s cheap and very good.
speaking of, would it be a good idea to wipe off the CPU cooler that comes with my Ryzen 7 3700x and use a different thermal paste?
Unless you’re having temperature problems with the included paste no need @mortal void
fair enough
also WOW my Mobo sold out quick. It had a restock earlier but now its gone
real question is, 32 or 16 Gigs of RAM?
most people only need 16
if you are doing tasks that are more ram heavy then you would get 32
well I'd just be gaming
then 16 is enough
It was more for future-proofing than anything
Future proofing is a lie
gasp
Gold Rush the Game needs 16
oof
thats alot
same with Beam.NG
I imagine Cyberpunk will also need 16Gigs
yeah but not 32 gigs
and, chances are you have 4 ram slots, so if you get 166gb, that's most likely going to be a 2x8gb kit, so if you for some reason do need to upgrade, just buy another 2x8gb kit
the issue is if something new like ddr5 comes out, then getting more ddr4 wouldn't be futureproofing
exactly
funny you mention DDR5 actually lmao
it supposed to come this year
but likely won't
It'll most likely come this year, but wont get utilized by much of anything until next year
F
I can't type today IG
but also counter argument. I need 32 gigs so I can open more than 3 chrome tabs at once
umm. FYI 32GB only allows for 1 chrome tab
real question is Grey or Red RAM sticks
Damn delivery, less than two miles away. And it seems to be taking forever to show up.
grey
Red
ew
lol
I'm going with the B450 Tomahawk Max. Either/or would look good
what will you be doing?
Gaming
I can usually have Chrome open with a game simultaneously and it'll run fine
well theres Discord to add as well
yeah it would be fine
12GB is actually the real minimum you should go
but 12GB is weird to put in a system, so it's really just best to go 16GB
You need more than that. A windows install will take 30GB+
Yup
well the reason I was thinking of putting 32gigs was something a friend told me
"i have 16 gigs of ram and just having my pc on with only discord steam and chrome open and its taking up 30% of my memory to then open up siege would put me almost at my max"
tomahawk max isnt that great tbh
due to single NVMe M2, poor sound chip, lack of WiFi, and such compared to other boards at same price
I'm actually not sure how much installing will take... Probably not much but idk
Windows just copies data for a most part
tomahawk max isnt that great tbh
@cursive wharf
It has 2 RGB Headers which is what I need for CPU Cooler and PC Case, don't care about Wi-Fi as both my PS4 and Current PC are both on Ethernet
I chose it because it has what I need
are you getting 12v or 5v?
There are two standard for RGB headers after all
and you need to make sure about getting the correct one
the regular Pro 4 would be better suited
my PC case comes with 3 Fans
and the Pro4-F doesn't seem like it has enough
theres also the issue of both not supporting my R7 3700x out of the box
may need a BIOS update
what is the best cpu for gaming rn?
BIOS is updated at factory. Zen2 BIOSes have been out for one long while. With stock being out then renewed from most likely factory almost 24/7, you'd be hard pressed to get an old BIOS
okay
thanks
these are my choices if I were to go with something other than Tomahawk Max
thoughts? opinions?
I'm inclined to go with the b450M Pro4
Go with the new B550
that's what im gonna use in my build
and it's actually super reliable I've heard
like more reliable than some of these pro gaming ones that they have for sale
can't
B550 isn't guaranteed to have the same price to perf as b450
@tender sparrow Do you get issues with your card?
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/c9r2Dx thoughts for a 900 dollar streaming build?
question:
The PC Case I want has front panel USB-C 3.1 Gen 2 and USB 3.0
I need an Adapter for my front panel USB-C to work.
If I use an Adapter will it deactivate the front panel USB 3.0?
Specs of the Motherboard I chose:
6 USB 3.1 Gen1 (2 Front, 4 Rear)
1 x USB 3.1 Gen1 Header (Supports 2 USB 3.1 Gen1 ports)
Its no biggie if I can't use the USB-C on the Front. But I'd like to without giving issues to other USB Ports
@mortal void
ping somebody like Hei or another techie
they'd probably understand better what ur trying to do
but like, I don't wanna be a bother lol
When you have all the parts except for the motherboard. and when you ordered the bother. It was sold out, so you have to wait, I DUNNNO, another week will all your parts in your room waiting. the feeling sucks so bad
@exotic trellis happened to me
did you get you order asap?
I got all the parts for a build for friend and am still waiting for mobo
2 weeks
Its been 2 weeks without the mobo now for me, and i called today that newegg doesnt have the mobo so theyre trying to contact another manufacturer to get the mobo i ordered.
omg, i aint tryning wait that long
I updated my pcpartpicker build is it better? https://pcpartpicker.com/list/tHJvGc
^^^^^
Y not?
That MOtherboard
i thought you were going to flip to the 3600 after you linked it earlier
Ok ok chill out I’ll change it
@normal sail do you have a budgrt?
Just want something for gaming and YT
500gb mp34
we suggested 3600+2070S before, original part list was around $1.3k
Case p300a mesh if its in stock
none of us put together a list, we just said 3600+2070S would be better than the 9900k combo
because if you're gonna go 9900K you have to go balls out with the rest of the system as well
otherwise it's a waste
I might not get a new gpu Squid
Ok is this better: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/qzgDvW
@normal sail something like this - https://pcpartpicker.com/list/wrsRtp - can play with it a bit, that specific set of memory i don't have any experiene with, but it's CL14 3200
I'd go down to a 2070S and a 500W PSU
you can get a windows key cheap, i wouldn't pay full msrp for one
but yeah if you want to save like $200-250, you can drop to a 2070S
ew RGB Ram lol
Difference between 2070/2080 isn't much
@mortal void It looks cool
@spiral zealot ik. That’s just the list for the components
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/H9Zgf9 scaled down to a 2070S and a 650W 80+ gold PSU
I think I’ll stick with ur latest list, but with a 2080s instead
Thanks @spiral zealot
@little leaf I might not get a 1660
@spiral zealot I edited your list to my liking, and here it is: https://pcpartpicker.com/user/MercyXTD/saved/znL3ZL
list is private
maybe
...
that list looks good though
Sorry I went to eat lunch
