Power supply shortage and I ain’t finna drive 1 hour to get one from Mirco center unless I’m getting a 3600 for 150
Yeah I know looks matter, and I know you gotta keep the price down when flipping a computer, but if a consumer is going to use that PC for like 5 years, chances are that things gonna pop
Honestly, I'm thinking about giving the Maingear psu a try.
@fast dust statistically speaking, chances are it won't "pop"
I get ya but some people been using em for 3-4 years and their fine so as long as it’s finna last for 2-3 years I’m fine
The warranty correct me if I’m wrong is 7 years
@slate ice I mean maybe not pop, but you eat eBay I mean
It’s not like it’s finna go kaboom
7 year warranty on TT smart?! what world are you living in?! iirc it’s 3 years
You know what I gotta calm down.
I have “technical” 40 years on mine because I bought on leap year because that’s how it works
Lmao
My evga one
BQ but I’m getting a rmx one soon
Phew.
I was big dumb when I bought mine
Not the worst thing
Should’ve got g2
When I first started flipping I was putting insignia 520 PSUs in almost every build, that was almost 5 years ago. I put my email address on a card taped to the inside of the case. Guess how many people have called about a failed power supply.
Ehh it’s decent
Yeah same I got a freaking EVGA GD
Same I got it worse tho I bought a 75 hz thinking it’ll be fine
It was on sale and the 80+ gold rating really did it for me
Worse decision of my life
I have a 75Hz too 😂
Lol yea
I’m getting 144Hz really soon tho
Omg
Great minds think alike
TwINsIeS
anyone awake to give some idea on a build.. minus case/PS/GC? I have them atm, and waiting on 3000 series graphics...
What power supply
i have an OCZ 700w
using it atm...
i have a build in PC part pickers
basically upgrading the main components
i have a full tower, HAF 932 advance, 1050ti graphics, and the 700watt PSU
that is the parts I picked for it ... already ordered the WD NVMe since it was on sale...
I'd eventually try to upgrade that card, it's kinda bad
lots say AMD... i've had intel for years now... this one is a 2600k atm...
oh the graphics card I plan on upgrading.. but waiting for 3000 series
Having intel for years doesn’t mean it’s bad to switch
oh no.. just mentioning it...
Just because you've had something for years doesn't mean the new version of it is a good value
I haven't pressed purchase yet... but that is what I keep going back to
the parts seem to have went up during the quarantine...
Get a Ryzen 3700X
Also need factor in the cost of a cooler for Intel, which you don't have to do for most Ryzen
which chipset would the 3700x work best with?
B450 or X470 also work
Oh yeah forgot about X470
what's difference between the two? other than the 470 newer...
X470 actually older
I would get a b550 over x470
If b550 out yet?
how could that be older?? lol
Not out yet
So does X570
Just for a tighter budget really
If he can spend money on a 9700K he can get an X570
I do like the z390 intel Tomahawk MB...
Look over some X570 boards. They look good too
doing that now on pc part picker
the one I see has triple m.2's O.O most I think i'd need was 2
7TB+ gang
wait @atomic oasis wait are you going amd or intel?
you are looking at amd boards but you said your getting a i79700k
I was leaning on intel...
what the build for?
He says he wants to go Intel, by we’re trying to convince him to make the right choice 😂
but was pricing up another build with the 3700x
gaming?
gaming 95% of the time
ok what the budget?
He's looking at Intel, but we are just putting the option of AMD on the table for better value if he wants it
discord.. web browsing etc...
1k... but I have case, PSU and graphics waiting for 3000 series
AMD has some nice stuff too, have friends using AMD...
Or 3700X to save a little precious money
GPU was eyeballing the 2060 supers... but 3000 coming out later in the year...
why not go for 3900x???
There’s probably going to be a 3000 Ryz el series refresh coming real soon just fyi
Ryzen
refresh? they shine them up and label them fresher? lol sorry
Lol
No need for 3900X.
Unless you are going for productivity and need those extra cores
The 4000 is coming soon too
yeah, would be using it mostly for gaming and social media/discord type
3800X all you really need tbh
Then the intel i5 10600k is not bad if it’s mostly gaming
I’d recommend amd for everything else
them 10series intel... not seeing much high remarks for them...
3700x
Not that bad 300$
the tomahawk one looks nice
Well if it’s a really budget system I guess.. I’d go 550 if you want to future proof
B550 not even out yet
450 even though they’d say they’d give support it’s less likely that you’d get all features
3800x isn't worth it
@stoic island It's $20 off with a compatible motherboard at Micro Center
@hot falcon Like?
wish I had a micro center near me
It has nothing over a 3700x
What features would be missed out on?
Unless 3800x is the only thing in stock, 3700x is a better option
Pc gen 4
4th gen PC
Or somehow 3800x is same price as 3700x
Wow
I mean
Pcie
AMD doesn't mean budget
450 is a budget board
Not really
I didn’t say mad means budget
My dad's building a PC for his work, and picked up a 3800x over the 3700x. He isn't planning on doing any overclocking, so that extra base GHz is helpful for him
As an example
@woven crypt eh it'll boost itself and the silicon is all lottery in terms of boost clocks
I don't have my 3800x going above the rated boost clocks of 3700x
lots of places show out of stock on some items.. I trust newegg...
So in terms of both operating with no outside intervention, is there any noticeable difference between them?
Well it depends on the person, if they’re gonna upgrade soon I’d go amd so they don’t have to buy mobos every two years but there’s too many variables
Intels the one that just switched to a different socket 😂
with changing to a 3800x, and a x570 MB... only about 50 bucks difference from the i7 9700k and that MB I liked
Only gaming and high asf budget is where I might put Intel
So in terms of both operating with no outside intervention, is there any noticeable difference between them?
3060 is about to bring better graphics to a lot of people
Intel slightly better for gaming, worse for everything else (usually). And they have much higher prices compared to AMD counterparts
anyone have more information about the 3000 series cards?
3700x+b450 has no issues for much cheaper
They say they’re coming in August -September don’t know how true that is tho
Mr1 how do you feel about the B450 steel legend or B450 PRO4? (Not the micro ATX models)
X570 is just all out of stock
@stoic island a 3600 + 2080ti doesn't equal the price of a 10600k+2080s
B550 is almost here tho
Steel legend is better than pro4, but both decent boards
Maybe they’ll be cheaper at launch
@little leaf factoring Mobo costs, b450 vs z490
Are the micro ATX ones very different (other than size obviously)
ye but the 10th gen isn't fully out meaning the budget boards haven't come yet eaither
how about a threadripper?? lol 3500 bucks for one?? O.O
I have mixed threadripper feelings
If you do hardcore editing
oh yeah.. so don't need that kind of fire power sheesh
if editing is your job
3950x might save u a bit
3900x still outperforms even the 10900k in multi core
So right now it makes no sense @little leaf
i'm still rocking the 2600k 😄
Also, with how budget Intel boards lock ram freq to 2666, there's a lot of performance loss
but it's old... still decently fast with SSD's...
Anyways don't go Intel right now
^
@stoic island you saying even the 3200 speed RAM will only go up to 2666?
Well it depends on the market, that’s why intel coasted, they had no competition and upgrading for like 5% increase was just dumb. Now amd is dominating and there’s hint that these new zen 3 might hit 5ghz and will be better at overclocking so they might even lose the high end gaming crown for the first time in idk when
Like h370 b360 all of those
We can't predict the future
What we can do is look at the market right now, and make suggestions NOW
Would be amazing if we could or maybe incredibly scary
thanks for the information all... getting late here.. I'm sure i'll come back again with more questions/information 😄
Ok don't buy Intel now bai
lol
It's too late ima slep

@burnt kettle how is it like playing on a corner, I want to try it
So I have a i5 9600k should I upgrade
microcenter ive seen has cheaper 10th gen motherboards
just any 10900k is out of stock everywhere haha
@little leaf order went thru, just need to wait for Mobo to be back in stock
Nice
Oh and fixed up the area for where the desktops going
MUCH better cable management and less trash
good my desk is a mess
Lol, I mean it kinda still is, but less so
I have my xbox on a filing cabnit and my pc right next to it lol
nice lol my desk is so uncorfortable for gaming
Transferred all of my photos, I don't have a desk.....anymore
The same one
the 3600 and 570?
I couldn't cancel the GPU as it was part of a bulk order, I'd have to cancel the whole order
oof
yeah
oh well a 570 will work fine
I can't wait, went to play a new game today on steam.... Wouldn't even launch
will run most tripple A titiles at 1080p 60 fps at least
The Mobo will be in stock on the 29th so, June 12/14th at the latest I should have it
aight
Oof
It was also my old bed frame and my new bed won't fit so.....
Lmao what
Yep, it was like a bunk bed, but the lower bunk was a desk
I did change my mobo btw @little leaf
ASUS ROG Crosshair VI Hero (WI-FI AC) AMD Ryzen AM4 DDR4 M.2 USB 3.1 ATX X370 Motherboard with onboard 802.11AC WIFI and AURA Sync RGB Lighting https://www.amazon.com/dp/B072LX7WLN/ref=cm_sw_r_other_apa_i_Jy3YEbW8FNS3R
No, got it from a friend who did, bit never used it
Like box is unopened kind of never used
I ordered a b450, but then he said, "hey I got this you can take, never will use it".
He bought it when he was building his PC w/o knowing it was AMD, he got an Intel cpu
Why?
Is it not compatible with a 3600?
@little leaf ?
@little osprey did you get it for free?
Yes
Is it compatible? Or just bad quality
Ahhh
I also might need a bio update
Well I won't be planning to go 4th gen soon anyways
...bio update....never did that before
That'll be fun
ye that might be hard
if you don't have a compatible cpu with the board atm
because I don't think you can update the bios without being able to boot the pc
but I may be wrong cause I've never done it
Well I'm getting CPU before the Mobo so.
I'm picking it up after everything else arrives
@celest horizon that's the funniest build I've seen in a while lolll
something just feels off about it lmfaoo
Finally, someone is talking about build pics outside of that channel lol
I know how to use this server lol
I wish Discord had a comment system and allow for photos only
That would be cool
I wish I could submit a feature I'd like to see lol
I bet it would get them away from changing the UI so much (especially on mobile)
like, give them an actual project people would like and could use haha
not that I control what they put into this app
Lol
@little osprey that's one of the boards with bios flashback without using a CPU
🤪
so i wonder if 3000 series nvidia comes out prob september how long for hydrocopper 3080ti haha
@stoic island what do you mean?
Something similar to this
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iTkXunUAriE
In this demonstration, we’ll show you how to use Flash BIOS Button with MSI motherboard.
Ahh
So I’m thinking about building a pc but don’t know to much about parts
@austere condor saw you on setup montage
@little osprey so what are you trying to do with it
Gaming pc but have about a 1500 limit
play around with this
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/
I'll make you a list in a bit
Also, when are you building it?
Because the longer you can wait, the better
Around Christmas or feb of next year
Oh then you should wait to make a list
If you just want to know how to build, LTT made some build guides
Gamers nexus is a great source of information and news
My thermal paste came, could whoever helped me a few days ago maybe give me a few pointers?
I think I got it all down just want to make sure
Any reason on why waiting is better @stoic island
Corona jacking prices up
new parts releasing q4 this year
Corona making things go out of stock
Christmas is a good time
My dad hit the motherboard of my laptop with pliers, how will I know if it effected anything
reinstall it
the samsung 49 inch crg9 is back in stock at few places think im gonna sell my cgh90 and get that one
@stoic island do you remember that pcpp list you helped me make for my friend like 2 weeks ago?
Oh well that's not actually important lol. He literally just texted me and told me he bought a ibuypower pre-built
Nobody atm
I tried so hard
tell them they'll regret it
He just wouldn't listen
Flex on them with your pc
Buy spec wise, theirs is better lmao
how much did they spend lmfao
1,600
and u?
Uh idk its been a long journey. Probably about that much but I started with i5 6400
lol
Now I have a 3600 and everything else is new besides my gpu
Thats next 😉
I'm gonna hold out for 3000 series and be like 💥 3070
make sure to flex on them
Will do
Mine looks better rn lmao
Uuug I hate windows now
Every 5 minutes or so it’s giving a BSOD and can’t figure out how to repair its self
And each BSOD is a different message each time…uuuuug!

Yea windows is being fing stupid now, won’t even let me get into repair mode with out a BSOD
Does some one recommend a cool case
Td500 mesh @turbid river
Thanks just getting recommendations

I heard new update has had issues for people
Unless you have a bad overclock, if stock do a recovery to previous
I have no issues with my windows 10 pro 64bit
What version you running?
I had an issue with a preview build not long ago
I wont touch preview lol
Worth upgrade monitor from samsung cgh90 3840x1080 144hz 1ms to crg9 5120x1440 120hz 4ms
Any suggestions
But driving on a 1080ti
I'm gonna upgrade to 3080ti hydrocopper whenever those come out, I got mine for 899 the newer model was out of stock but back now 1299
Alright
Both 49 inch just would have to sell current if I did hah
I put on offer up for 750 they selling for 999 now and guy was like 500 bucks I said not selling half price no thanks
Its like a month old but past return time
I have a reason for running them, otherwise I wouldn't
Maybe not worth it loss of money and even max settings lots of games cant hit 144hz unless it's like doom lol
4.15 mil pixels at 32x9 aspect ratio it's more than 2k
The other would be like 7.5mil pixels
If you can't hit the 120hz on the other monitor then don't get it
Might as well wait
Odessy c9
G9
I'm sorry lol
Bigger curve 240hz 1ms
5120x1440 as well
I wonder how much longer of a wait after sept for a hydro copper variant to release 3080ti
hydro copper is questionable
hopefully they'll fix current hydro copper issues with the new one
I'd only want that if there ends up with issues then have to swap card to stock
Then rma blah blah
ah wait nvm, was thinking of hydro X. Anyways Hydro X has a leaking issue, so not exactly small issue
Hydro Copper is $200 overpriced as well
True but its convenient as well
buy a air cooled GPU + block for cheaper
Its not hard to put block on but pain to take off n do over again
it isnt that much more work
Well thermal pads tho
Gotta make sure not to fk up old ones
Then again maybe I'd switch back to loop just for cpu, that extra 10c increase overall temp could keep cpu cooler. And have a hybrid gpu like how the kingpin is
kinda hard to do that to the point of being unusable. You can tear a pad in half and still use it just by putting them next to each other and have them stock close to each other
Will just see.. but from 1080ti would be great upgrade 2080ti def not worth
Gaaa sucks waiting I just wanna get n pop right in
2080Ti wouldnt be so bad if it wasnt so damn expensive
few months ago I was wondering if I should go 1080Ti SLI as I also have a 1080Ti
I have quick disconnect for gpu so just take tubes off n put on n bam
Yea sli unless forced for most part isnt supported
And major decline of support
I had 2 980ti with corsair adaptor 120mm h55s
While back
It's pretty much divison 2, n star citizen
would need a new case tho. My reservoir is currently under my GPU with just about no other space to put it
pfft. Spelling? What's that
That case has alot of room
yeah, but too pricy for what it is
Well look at the air variant
Front fans too
I had but liked the look of corsair air 740 so returned
Also am in CAD, so prices have a 1.4x multiplier
If the corsair xd5 was better q/a that actually fit nicely in front of case
But I had 3 all noisy or grindy drained 3 times
Cheaper than the ek ones
pfft, EK be the king of overrated and overpriced
Lol yes but 1st fill no issues quiet
good quality ye, but still way too damn pricy
$260 for a full RGB copper custom loop, CPU/GPU combo with 360/240mm rad
https://www.aliexpress.com/item/32899782878.html?spm=a2g0o.productlist.0.0.5cf562285UYWPR
Smarter Shopping, Better Living! Aliexpress.com
and quality is good
And corsair came with power jumper and 120 140 mounting platrs
Until someone beats Bykski in pricing (maybe Barrow at some point), then Bykski is the no. one option I'd choose
I have 2x st30 alphacool eads 240 and 360
I think EK is like $700 for a full RGB loop isnt it?
I'm thinking of switching the 360 to 60mm xflow so less tube and thicker
Don't remember
Meh no kit needed
It's near 600$
no kit is "needed", but does decrease price a lot of the time
Yea
Corsair costs 800 if you count fan and fan controller price was what I remember
Corsair fans r expensive n loud, either cougar vortex or noctua nf12s
honestly, just Arctic tho
Arctic fans are great
cheap-o
Actually hei does the bykski kit come with fans?
yeah
decent ones at least. idk noise to RPM graph
I mean just noise and airflow
the controller is kinda meh cuz no PWM controller and only 3 fan speeds
but I can run on lowest speed with about 360mm rad space (240mm+120mm) and good temps
also low noise
PSU fan and HDDs are louder
my psui fan only really goes on when pc starts n then its off lol
I personally like the corsair hydrox linup
Mine works great
if they had better quality control it would be better
next revision I hope is good
@potent prairie your pump isnt chirpy or loud?
Naw, not unless I crank up the speed manually
i have microcenter 15 mins from me all 3 were loud
best to give it a rating, louder then HDDs, case fans at given RPM, etc
because "loud" is subjective
The fans can get pretty loud, I wouldn't do corsair fans again
I don't notice them over my fans on my quiet curve
grinding and last one was loud loud.. like really loud
i wouldnt lower the rpm on the pump at all
I mean my fans can get loud too. But that is running at higher RPMs that I dont need
atleast they took them back
Well I need em high until I get some new thermal paste
The TIM that comes on the gpu block is crap.
Hei, thoughts on the XPG core reactor? I remember a good review on it and it's tier A.
never looked into the reviews of it
I'll go check again then
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07Z8J1973
Does it say "this item requires special handling and cannot be shipped to your selected location" for you?
i had to put my ek in back of the case because the bracket they sell would be too low and in way of gpu
Discord is preventing me from posting my PCP link...
ye, but Im also in CAD which probably is like "doesnt ship to your location" anyways
hmm looks like loose load regulation, not a huge issue afaik
ouch
you went for the samsung ssd...
im amazed the 10900k is sold out
expensive and not great case :p
mem should bump up to 3600 if you can afford as well
I mean only 1.67% deviation on 12v rail. Well within the 5% deviation
worse then other options, but more then good enough
I've already ordered these parts, but memory, and pcie4 M.2 are on my upgrade path.
I thought going for LPX would allow me to fit a big air cooler.
I mean
your case is pretty damn small so
or not
huh
weird
so it really is just a short h510 xD
Why did you go itx..?
H200 is pretty big for an ITX.
I intend on carrying this PC on flights. International student.
Could have gone smaller.
i used to have the corsair 250d, that was a awesome small case and could fit a 240 aio in it too
lol well ya said small
anyways
oh even better small build they dont sell the case anymore
Only issue I see with my case is the lack of gpu airflow as I have got an ATX PSU.
big cooler and traveling don't go together well at all
corsair 380t
Yeah, I am sticking with Prism for now. We'll see how it goes.
lemme find my itx list I made a while back
I don't plan on overclocking or anything just yet.
I like the H100 ¯_(ツ)_/¯
good thing you caught that mobo while it was in stock, that went out of stock pretty quickly iirc
I haven't got it yet, it is on pre-order.
ah
Only the mobo and PSU are yet to arrive, and PSU is expected June 1st.
I ordered through BLT. I read that they are reputable.
BLT..?
Bottom Line Telecommunications
Bacon Lettuce and Tomato! Lol
not a sandwich ahaha
They aren't listed on PCPP price listings, but I come across them from google searches.
www.amway.com is probably ok to! Lol
Really quick to reply to messages. So far I have had positive experience with BLT.
newegg got my money for ram because microcenter didnt have trident z
lol
Newegg got my money because no microcenter for at least 3 hours in any direction
and also Newegg has good prices anyways
i love how close microcenter is
Has anyone ordered from Amway before?
micro center 40 min away from me
microcenter actually has better prices in most things
not samsung bdie ones
they have the slower trident z lol
😢
you went b die?
I go to tustin
3600cl16 b die or 3200cl14
How much of a difference would 3600 make, really?
they have 3600 now and 1 4000 but thats different brand
over 3200
amd bigger difference in memory performance
3600 is usually good place for ryzen 3rd gen chips
Yeah, I've got a 3700x
I hear that Ryzen 3 doesn't care that much from some sources, and that it does from others.
what cl on it
see mine was expensive for 3600 cl15 trident z
i have it ocd to 4000mhz 16 16 16 36
yea its lemme get u link of new egg
i got 2 kits
and that overclocked amazingly
there is a rgb version thats 100 bucks more, and apparently a cl14 version too
cas latency
yea theres a cl14 one
didnt know about the cl15 one
I have a cl16 trident z neo djr 32gb kit
thats like 16 19 19 39 or something
idk didnt seam to perform well in benchmarks n tests i did
Yea I got the 16-19-19-39 kit, works fine for me
my ripjaws 3200 were just as good
I haven't looked into this too much, but mine says 16-18-18-36
Don't know if that's good or not. I plan on upgrading from 16GB to 32 GB anyways as that's what my laptop has now.
iirc the memory tests I did on speeds and all are fine
3600cl16
so you might've just got a bad kit
yea djr isn't good at OCing
but it's much cheaper
maybe idk, but i didnt need rgb anyways
but its great that it went up just by bumping timing by 1
it's like 300$ for b die 32gb trident z neo lol
I got 32gb at about 150$
yea only difference is lows are better little more efficent
kinda just chasing numbers i guess
yea at some point it is just chasing numbers lol
but the inland premium 2tb m.2 is awesome not as much write as samsung evo plus but 3400 read 2900 write
and its 10c less temp
I like recommending the mp34 for cheap great nvme drive at 1tb
sabrent rocket usually for 2tb drives
yea that rocket looked decent
I had a question about M.2 drives. I was going to go with an ASrock mobo which only had one M.2 drive bay on the rear of the mobo. Would a 970 overheat back there?
B550 boards look pretty nice
dunno
At least the ones I’ve seen so far
970 runs around 40ish in operation so it should be fine
depends what you wanna spend
Ah dang it. I should have gone with that mobo when it was available then.
do the sabrent rocket 2tb is like 230 or something
I had already bought the 970 as it had the most ratings. I will be doing a lot of video editing and moving around files and stuff.
true but price for price
I got the 1 TB for 180, which I know is like $50 higher than other 1 TB M.2 drives.
samsung is expensive i use for os just 500gb m.2 evo plus
n like said 2tb inland m.2
samsung is just expensive for no real reason imo
other drives match it in endurance and speed
I have a second M.2 bay on the rear of my mobo. Will the Inland one be fine without a heatsink?
yea it will be ok
What sort of activities would bring up the temps of the drive? surely not gaming?
no gaming the os does more
thats why 970 evo plus runs hotter i bet cause os running and processes
i mean i got the board heatsinks with my z390 asus maximus
video editing and such would heat it up more
and 970 is around 40s and inland is 30
it only really heats up when you're trying to read and write a lot
Yeah, I'll be using the 1 TB as my primary drive. I thought that it has a cache which increases lifespan and price.
the sticker on it is a heat transfer lol
yea
There's no disadvantage to using one drive for OS and applications, right?
but im serious they say to not remove the info sticker, obviously besides warranty
Like I wouldn't need to partition and stuff?
no i just did separate because more filled the slower iops get
but its plenty fast either way
partition only if you plan on reinstalling every once in a while
yea I kinda removed my sticker on my drive didn't realize it voided warranty
oops
Reinstalling as in Windows, or applications?
windows
alot of time its best to just reinstall after a while keep it fresh
but if you dont plan then dont bother partition
or virus
makes sense. This is a long-term build, so I might partition it to make servicing easier.
Thanks for the info
i prob have no need for my 500gb 850 evo, and 120 evo ssds lol they r just sitting empty right now since 2tb m.2
120 was os while back when i had 4790k
well have fun all going to play star citizen
I’m looking to get a 1200watt Rog cpu what do you think
yea
Is more watts better or worse
Strix 650w seems decent
watts means little in PSU quality
voltage regulation/ripple, transient response, protections, cap quality, noise, fan quality, etc
What are you trying to make, and what's the budget?
Ok lll have to look at my cpu and my budget is not much right now
So y’all recommend 650W
550w/650w is the most 99% of people need
B450?
z390 Gene
yea
B450i Aorus pro wifi, whenever it goes back into stock.
Made a list for myself, thoughts? https://pcpartpicker.com/list/txkF9G
just for fun
looks good to me
ikr
this was a 700$ build I made, what, a week or 2 ago?
https://pcpartpicker.com/user/Mr1111/saved/#view=Rx6ZZL
Make it so people can modify it to fit price and needs
idk anymore on this one https://pcpartpicker.com/list/yFHHjp
For if you got 50000+
this is my reasonable-big-build
https://pcpartpicker.com/user/Mr1111/saved/sqpnLk
well hei isnt 7f42 only 32 cores or smth
I remember the 2sp one being the only one at 64 cores
So umm, I think I corrupted one of my hard drives, is this a good place or should I go to #storage-devices ?
go ahead anywhere
apparently the F series seems meh. 7F72 is 24c
7H12 is 64c
these names AMD... why?
where??? holy heck i wanna do that
From relatives
Got the HP desktop from one relative and everything else from another relative.
I got all that other stuff because this relative works in an office and just had it lying around
i hate my school
I was in their state this weekend so they gave it to me (:
they threw away like 40 monitors
Why Meep
i helped
Oh noo
yeah my school upgraded monitors to ips panels
Nicee
Sponsor my school please MSI
idk something like this
I think my school has like 10 computers with 1080 for cad
1070 maybe
Dang
damn
wow ok
uuug I am hating windows right now
:p
they also gave us "gaming" keyboards
Don’t become a Linux fanboy
I can't hate windows because I don't have other options :p
ubuntu is fun and games until you want to play games
hey i need some advice on a vertical gpu mount anyone got a suggestion 0r know of one that is good for the pc oll dynamic
Im not a fanboy of Linux, but I honestly never had any issues that I could not resolve with a quick run with the terminal, where with windows its been consistently one issue after another on the current PC I am on....and its a clean fresh install so.......
should just be 1080 i would think
Probably 1080 or 720p
And probably only 60Hz
All you need then is something that can do 1080p 60 fps
Any higher FPS and you won’t be able to see it because if your monitor
I don’t think 1650s can run 4K ultra settings...
i'd avoid getting a 4k monitor, even if you could run 60fps good settings you could get a 240hz for the same price
2060 ko or 5600 XT for $300 budget
CX550 with gtx 1660 boom
lmao
Games are supposed to be fun and there’s a slim chance of winning... I don’t see why you’d do it my man
so he can buy an actual rig 💯
i dont like the game i just want money
u ever won b4?
Huh
More than i ever got out of a game ... other than massive enjoyment.
Better than a kick in the pants I guess
fr
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/9t6Tx6 umm my budget is 1.2k can someone fix (@ me playing games)
@wispy matrix is this for gaming?
Prices are off btw
best buy stock don't work with pcpp very well
for example the tomahawk max is out of stock
i tried fitting my budget in
H510 is out of stock in best buy
MWE gold is out of stock in best buy
best buy got robbed?
this is pricing without best buy
🤔 would a 2070 benefit streaming more because of better nvenc or the more cores
somebody should test that ngl
well mr111 im not at my money i need tho but i can wait untill it gets back in stock also
v2
Make a new list when you have the money
everything changes in price and stock daily now
@stoic island probs go for 2060S rather then 2070 non S
heatsink on that Ventus is small
Eh
Was too lazy to check 2060s stock lemme ser
@cursive wharf perf wise I thought 2070 was still slightly ahead..?
I was thinking Nvidia heat doesn't really matter as much
80c instead of 70c doesn't matter as much
Not like 5700xt and you get 120c junction on a bad cooler :p
I mean, probs is the same for Nvidia tbh
Anyways even accounting for boost I thought 2070 was better?
but Nvidia doesnt have any sensor for junction
2070 is better if on a decent cooler. Ventus doesnt have a good cooler
So it's close to the same tbh
I'd just get a quieter GPU anyways rather then worry over 5 fps starting from ~100 fps
Eh I'm the kinda person to want 140 instead of 135 :p
I find that noise is more noticeable over the small FPS difference and I usually prioritize that
Noise isnt that bad. But as an enthusiast I must say "yes" to as quiet as possible, unless it's delta fans. Then as loud as possible
Delta fans?
The super high RPM server fans
Ah

ye
Ima get a new mic got a stand picked out on Newegg but should I get the hyperX mic
What is better Ryzen 9 or the I9 intel core
depends on what you want to do
as usual, intel is better for gaming while ryzen is for everything else
Intel is best at grilling
Hey is 560$ a reasonable price for the 2070?
yes, for a mid to high end model
no
as that isnt a 2070 Super
even then, 2070 Supers should be around $500 - $520
wait
2070s is that cheap?
oh my bad
i've been thinking with prices in my region, not us
would https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07F8LV1BY that, work with https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07N2DQCY2 those?
guise first timer build question please 🙇♂️
Global site for my ASRock X399 Taichi shows that latest BIOS 3.90 requires Bridge BIOS 2.30
so that means even if it's my first time assembling the PC, if the current BIOS version is lower than 2.30,
I can't skip and would still need to do a bridge BIOS update first before going latest BIOS, correct ?
Also ASRock says they don't take responsibility for BIOS updates, how high's the risk of bricking the board ?
If that does happen, how likely can you unbrick it ?
you cant unbrick it
it's fairly painless as long as you have the correct bios file for the motherboard you're trying to update.
you cant unbrick it
@sudden turret oh noes 😱
it's fairly painless as long as you have the correct bios file for the motherboard you're trying to update.
looks like I'll have to either just stay with stock BIOS,
and only update to known stable version (if I can find it) if there's issue with stock
yeah if there are no issues, really no need to update
but if you do, can always come back here and we can verify you have the proper file.

@sudden turret thanks a lot 🙇♂️
any suggestions on this list some of the prices are a bit off https://pcpartpicker.com/list/9KLvQq
please do not get a hyper x microphone @turbid river
even if i havent heard it, which i have and its very bad, they arent even an audio company lol
@copper mason most current gen bios flash utilities are pretty straight forward and stable. Put the new BIOS file on usb drive, boot into BIOS, go to the flash utility and click the go button. 99% of the time you're only going to brick the board if for some reason you cut power during the flash.
The only mobo manufacturer I've dealt with where BIOS flashing was nerve racking and not very intuitive was NZXT on the N7 mobos

@slate ice great additional insights thanks 🙏
I heard bad things about ASRock's BIOS, but also that it gets more frequently updated
I build/flash ASrock boards pretty regularly (flashing backward is the only way to overclock the Athlon 200GE) it's very simple.
Just make sure you USB drive is blank except for the BIOS file. Asrock BIOS downloads are usually a .zip file, so extract it first, and copy the .rom file onto the USB stick. Then just do what I said above.
i’m mounting two fans here at the back, should i mount them such that the cables go through that top left grommet or should i have the cables run down the left side of the case?
Top left grommet will probably look a lot better but left side might have better functionality... if you’re plugging the fans into the motherboard and not a fan hub or molex connectors
@copper mason @sudden turret correction to the bricking... You can't unbrick it without special hardware. Tho, said hardware isn't that pricy either.
https://www.amazon.com/Organizer-Socket-Adpter-Programmer-CH341A/dp/B07R5LPTYM
It's hard tho
Complicated
If I'm building a threadripper 3960x 128 ddr4 tiny graphics card. What kind of PSU am I looking at?
Wdym by tiny graphics card?
I'll upgrade later, but my budget runs out there
I'm thinking gtx 1050 ti for now... And in the future...
Maybe $600 range later? Idk
As in like RTX 2070 in the future?
sounds like theyd end up with a 3060
Oh yeah or a 3060
Yeah
or rdna2
How much power would a 3060 suck?
So maybe like a 550 or 650w
I could really go that low?
I didn't realize
Make sure it’s a decent model too, like Corsair RMx or something
If you cheap out on your power supply and get something bad it could cost you
if it was an intel 24 core the cpu alone would probably do 500w lol, on ryzen you good though, id get a 650 at least tho
Yeah no problem
I've got a cooler master 850 in my upstairs build
What model
It's been an Awesome psu
cooler master probly be not terrible atleast, itd probly be fine
Cooler master has a reputation of being “meh”
Don’t know if id fully trust one with wattage that high
yeah, so it will work, and not blow up, sounds like what they looking for lol
Well if it’s been used for a while previously...
yeah true i guess
Yeah, it's 'silent pro' gotta be 9 yrs old now
Yikes 9 years old?
I would not trust that thing anymore
Especially if the warranty is gone
it will start turning off rather than damage anything though right?could upgrade it then
Bronze plus lol
It definitely could damage stuff though
Any thing else is hurried in the case
Wdym
is it recomend to change psus once they hit warranty or something? whats the recomended like, lifespan for a decent unit?
Look at the warranty
If it’s 3 years, chances are it’ll live for 3 years
If it’s 12 years, chances are it’ll live 12 years
And so on
yeah mk cool
So fractal designs PSU are available... How is EVGA?
Don’t look at power supplies based on brand
Everything depends on the model
certain brands will assure you your pc wont be the one to explode though, there is that lol
For example, EVGA P2 is considered to be one of the best non-HEDT PSUs
but then EVGA N1 is just dangerous
Yeah I was about to say something about the N1
Interesting, k. Didn't realize
oh dangerous? damn
It bad
is there no company that at least makes no dangerous models? i thiught evga seasonic and corsair were good like that
I mean
SeaSonic is generally okay
