@wispy matrix I'd probably go with this https://pcpartpicker.com/list/wQLmNq
-mobo picker for decent sound chip (if your sound system isnt by 3.5mm and by USB then probs get a different board)
-RAM is decent quality but cheap
-The P1 is dramless which can make perf suck hard in some scenarios. So I chose a SSD with DRAM, even if SATA I'd recommend in general over a DRAMless NVMe
-case has limited airflow and is kinda pricy, changed it
-PSU is pricy for what it is

#

-I picked one high refreshrate monitor for competitive and one that looks nicer for standard work or immersive gaming

orchid talon
#

Does anyone know a good build for $1000 in a monitor, that’s the amount I would spend to spend and then get a k70 keybored and a good mouse with the rest of my money, I know someone that would build it

stoic island
#

for $1000 in a monitor
wdym

orchid talon
#

And a monitor

#

So like a $800 around ish PC

latent bronze
#

1080p or 1440p also the most common games you would play

#

if it is for gaming

stoic island
#

what

orchid talon
#

Fortnite mostly because I play in a lot, on Xbox, I go to my brothers to play it on his pc somtimes. But other games like rainbow, csgo, and gta

#

Is 1080p cheaper right

stoic island
#

1080p cheaper

orchid talon
#

Then most likely that

#

I also would like to stream

#

My brother has a 1660ti

stoic island
#

I'll put a list together

orchid talon
#

And I think a i5 or I7 not 100% sure

#

And i was getting good FPS on that

stoic island
#

These days are AMD days

latent bronze
#

work with that

stoic island
#

wait ecks

latent bronze
#

1660 Super and 1660 Ti you would see very little difference

stoic island
#

lemme just

orchid talon
#

Doesn’t ryzen come with a fan @latent bronze

stoic island
#

yes

#

including monitor

#

actually

#

one sec

#

picked the wrong 2060

orchid talon
#

What about like a ryzen 5 2600x?

latent bronze
#

It does come with a cooler but to some people on here they were complaining about the noise of the fan on it

teal bison
#

whats the list for? from what i understand 1080p gaming?

stoic island
#

wait nvm it works

orchid talon
#

@latent bronze and I will be able to stream fine right?

teal bison
#

also sorry for jumping in in the middle of the discussion

latent bronze
#

yep with Nvidia you will stream without any problems

stoic island
#

Drago, yes.

#

And yea, nvidia has good encoder

orchid talon
#

So ryzen 5 2600x isn’t the move

stoic island
#

not really when Ryzen 5 3600 is an option

latent bronze
#

For the games he is planning on playing the 1660 Super would be more than enough

orchid talon
#

I would hope for like 144 fps no guttering so yeah basically

stoic island
#

rainbow tho
I barely get 144fps max settings on 2070 xD

orchid talon
#

I don’t need max settings

latent bronze
#

R6S people play that on lower setting anyways

#

cause for some reason more frames is better for that game

teal bison
#

for some reason

stoic island
#

more frames is always better in competitive games

latent bronze
#

Meaning you would see people with a 2080 Super and still play the game on low settings to get 300+ fps

teal bison
#

i think it was sarcasm

stoic island
#

I lower some settings to keep it 240fps stable, on a 144hz monitor.

latent bronze
#

YoU dIdNt SaY iT sArCaStIcALlY

stoic island
#

sarcasm is wierd

#

I dont like it

sullen spoke
#

What's sarcasm

orchid talon
#

I thought FPS doesn’t really matter if you have lower hertz#

stoic island
#

jk I use it and I dont understand it

#

it doesn't

sullen spoke
#

it can make a difference

#

but not visually

latent bronze
#

Piccolo: It's called sarcasm
Goku: oooo what does that taste like

sullen spoke
#

lower frametime is always better

teal bison
#

its more cinematic

latent bronze
#

But ya for 1080p gaming with a 1660 Super would get more than 100 fps

stoic island
#

if you have higher avg, you usually have higher 0.1% lows

sullen spoke
#

lower frametime = higher fps for those who do not know

latent bronze
#

i played Fortnite and got 110 fps with my R5 2600 and a 1660

stoic island
#

NOT 144 FPS NOT ACCEPTABLE

#

jk

teal bison
#

@stoic island not all the time tho, the i5 9600k has better avgs but worse 1%s than the 3600

latent bronze
#

I am on a 72hz monitor

sullen spoke
#

I can get about 200 fps on lowish with 2070

stoic island
#

usually

latent bronze
#

cause my monitor can overclock to 72hz 😛

sullen spoke
#

my 8600k bottlenecks me in overwatch under high settings

stoic island
#

I was using that example to say lowered settings usually mean higher 0.1% lows

#

and thats why settings might be lowered

teal bison
#

im gpu bottlenecked right now, but waiting for ampere before i upgrade

sullen spoke
#

higher fps than monitor refresh can still help tho, when I play osu I click more accurately at 1800fps than I do at 240fps

stoic island
#

osu boi

sullen spoke
latent bronze
#

@orchid talon You have 2 builds to pick from and at 1080p for most of the games you will get over 100 fps on max settings

#

GTA V it is meh with their settings

orchid talon
#

Well I don’t need max setting

#

Pros and most play on really low settings

latent bronze
#

Well depending on the game

sharp blaze
#

What motherboard will pair well with a Ryzen 3700x and 2070 super?

foggy hazel
#

just about any b450/470 board, and all x570 chipset boards

#

@sharp blaze see above, and also, what budget do you have for it?

vivid atlas
latent bronze
#

@foggy hazel even a A320 would pair with it

#

and the A320's has PBO2 as well

foggy hazel
#

yes, some of them, the few that has been updated. But, chipset etc is not exactly looking super hot I/O wise on the 320 @latent bronze

#

and a 3700x + 2070 super is not exactly scraping the bottom of the budget :)

latent bronze
#

Well i saw a video of a 3600 with a A320 do a little better than with a X570

foggy hazel
#

yes, i saw you link it a while back. And i personally think it is silly idea to pair across that many generations.

#

yes, it is nice and all IF you have the board already, but for a new build? no.

latent bronze
#

Well it can depend sometimes when someone wants a high end type of system but a very limited budget

foggy hazel
#

there are other things can be moved around before then

#

no need to back them into a potential corner like that

hearty fern
#

A320, what a gamer move

old charm
#

is there any way to fix a stripped usb port?

hearty fern
#

Is it onboard, or front panel?

#

Yes to both for the most part, 2nd one is much easier

old charm
#

if you mean is it connected to the motherboard no its not

#

its part of the case

foggy hazel
#

front usb = cable connection from the mainboard to the case

old charm
#

then yes that's what it is

foggy hazel
#

those are generally fixable

upper condor
#

@old charm have a look at the wire connecting it to the case

foggy hazel
#

IF you can get to the contact itself (in the case)

old charm
#

no i mean its not a wire connection issue

#

like

foggy hazel
#

depending on case, you can just order a new one

hearty fern
#

You can replace that

old charm
#

the actual physical usb port part got messed up

foggy hazel
#

i know @old charm

old charm
#

okay

hearty fern
#

The port, not the header, replacement is easy

old charm
#

excellent

foggy hazel
#

lookup your case, and see if replacement parts are available

#

that is the first step

#

second is figuring out "how" to get access to it

#

again, depending on case, this can either be easy or a PITA

upper condor
#

@old charm what happened to it?

hearty fern
#

It was destroyed

upper condor
#

Yes, but how

hearty fern
#

Stripped

old charm
#

I put this in

hearty fern
#

Oof

old charm
#

i don't know when this actually happened cuz it was fine when i put it in

#

and then i pulled it out and it was like that

#

i think I put it in backwards initially

hearty fern
#

Crunchy

old charm
#

its the xobx controller i use all the time

#

i dont know if that blue in there is part of the controller or it actually phstically ripped the stuff out of hte usb

foggy hazel
#

simple way to find out, look at the other part :)

#

because that "just" looks like a broken connector from the other

#

it happens

old charm
#

im pretty sure its part of the controller

hearty fern
#

Blue is usb 3.0, so its the ports broken part

old charm
#

it slides right in

hearty fern
#

Black is 2.0

old charm
#

that's what i thought originally

#

you're probably right

#

damn

hearty fern
#

Yeah, you need to get that out

old charm
#

i got it already

hearty fern
#

Oh

foggy hazel
#

@hearty fern except in all the cases where those colours dont mean that :)

hearty fern
#

Well, there aren't xbox controllers with blue tabs

old charm
#

I don't suppose its as easy as sliding it back in...

hearty fern
#

Unless its a really special color scheme

foggy hazel
#

@old charm take a picture of the port you had it plugged into

hearty fern
#

And you can see the jagged part anyways

#

My cosmos 1000 had a stripped usb port or 2

#

Never fixed bc no reason to

old charm
#

s'that good enough?

foggy hazel
#

aye

#

you "just" pulled the plastic part out

#

as i said, lookup your case, search for replacement parts for it (that is the simple way around it)

old charm
#

I'll probably end up doing that

foggy hazel
#

and after that, it is a question of figuring out how easy it is to swap it

#

IF it is a decent case, it is normally quite simple (unplug connector internally in the case, pull the front panel, unscrew a pcb, screw in new pcb, plug in cable internally)

#

as mentioned, generally, it is fairly simple.

@upper condor do those incompatible warnings matter at all?

latent bronze

nope

upper condor
#

Nope

orchid ermine
sullen spoke
#

you forgot to put storage and a psu @orchid ermine

#

also if you are working on a budget the stock cooler that comes with the cpu is sufficient

#

no need for a pricey aio

dull axle
icy plume
#

don't cheap out on the PSU

dull axle
#

okay gotcha

icy plume
#

in the pins, there's a PSU tier list from LTT

#

look at that and decide accordingly

#

and if you can afford to, upgrade your keyboard, but before that, change your memory from 1x16 to 2x8

#

and if you're gonna buy a microphone anyways, than spend that $50 on headphones rather than a headset

dull axle
#

well the motherboard is a 2 slot, so I got confused and good point on the headphones

icy plume
#

it's a 2 slot, so you'll have just enough room to put in dual-channel memory

sullen spoke
#

do you need the network card?

#

The motherboard has a gigabit ethernet port already

modern shadow
#

hows this for $700 budget? (I already have a ventus OC 1650)

sullen spoke
#

on a budget like that I'd recommend getting a AMD cpu and motherboard instead of intel

icy plume
#

^

modern shadow
#

I feel like getting a intel, thanks

dull axle
#

it does? I'm a little dumb. also I thought putting ram right next to each other was a sin

sullen spoke
#

you can get a Ryzen 5 3600 and like a b450 mobo or something

#

amd has much better performance for the price

icy plume
#

you do you, just know that ryzen has better bang for the buck

#

robert, dual-channel ram is pretty much always better, as far as i know

sullen spoke
#

In a 4 slot mobo, dual channel is usually always in slots 2 and 4

modern shadow
#

it says "the motherboard M.2 slot #3 shares bandwidth with SATA 6.0 Gb/s ports. When the M.2 slot is populated, two SATA 6.0 Gb/s ports are disabled."

sullen spoke
#

that's normal. basically means it shares a lane with the sata ports

#

only an issue if you have a lot of drives, but you can always make sure you are using the right ports

dull axle
modern shadow
#

what is this? Some AMD B450 chipset motherboards may need a BIOS update prior to using Matisse CPUs. Upgrading the BIOS may require a different CPU that is supported by older BIOS revisions.

sullen spoke
#

it isn't a problem for most people. basically the B450 boards need a bios update to run 3rd gen ryzen. Newer shipped boards should have the bios already updated

#

you can always contact seller to ensure that it is updated

modern shadow
#

okay thanks guys, i will note that

modern shadow
#

Just a question: is the WD blue m.2 good?

sullen spoke
#

I have a wd blue m.2 and I like it

#

Hasn't failed me

modern shadow
#

also about the fractual design G

#

Another thing: should i get micro ATX or ATX

sullen spoke
#

whatever can fit in your case

stoic island
#

Focus G is a good budget case

sullen spoke
#

micro atx or itx is usually for smaller form factor builds

stoic island
#

I have it, its nice

modern shadow
#

but micro ATX is cheaper right? I thought it still mostly have everything on a ATX mobo

#

Does it have less OC or compatibility?

sullen spoke
#

it is really up to the model mobo, but usually matx or itx has fewer pcie slots or m.2 slots, that kind of stuff

modern shadow
#

Okay thanks dude I might post the build in pcpcartpicker soon!

upper condor

Why do you need ssd?

wide sparrow

upper condor

Hdd is a lot cheaper, and you can get really good ones that have decent speed for half the price

lyric thistle

I'd suggest looking at WD Blue, just check prices and options

wide sparrow

Yeah but they're slow and

lyric thistle

Wow that's a long time

#

but loading screens in high capacity games is an issue for HDD

#

I don't want to wait 1 minute

I'll pair it with a sabrent R 1tb

upper condor

For cheaper than 2tb rocket

wide sparrow

Yeah but only 1tb

oh well

I'll just...add a 2tb ssd later (:

upper condor

@upper condor 88$ plus tax

@austere condor yah, I have that plugged in

id recommend looking up a video of the case

Ok, I will do that

Thank you

latent bronze

@austere condor I still see some using molex

they are corsair LL200mm or ML200's

if they are still using molex

#

thats sad

latent bronze
#

I stick with my Rosewill fans which does use Sata

languid dune
#

Does anyone know what power supply I should get if I have a ryzen 9 and 2080 super?
@little osprey What specific ryzen 9? 3900x or 3950x?

#

From an educated guess I would say roughly a 850 watt system just to be safe.

#

In theory you could maybe get away with a 650 watt PSU but with the hardware you are going to be rocking I would be safe and get a larger PSU.

foggy hazel
#

650 is plenty

languid dune
#

Even though the power consumption was low at 326 watts this GPU wasn't being stressed and you are most likely have a different CPU and component parts

#

I know

#

but im a guy who is....

#

i dont know what to say

#

safety guy

#

My point is I don't want a low celing roof just in case but that's just me

foggy hazel
#

650 gives you a lot of room

languid dune
#

I guess you could do that

foggy hazel
#

but, there is nothing wrong as such with getting a higher wattage psu

#

what matters is getting one that is actually decent, no matter what wattage you decide on.

languid dune
#

I just like to...you know think a bit of the future. I don't want to say future proof but I don't want to constantly keep changing PSU if you get me and Naed is right. Get a decent quality PSU--you don't want to have your system die because of some Chinese-bootleg PSU.

little osprey
#

My uncle just got me Corsair 3200mhz ram 16gb rgb but my motherboard can only handle up to 2400mhz would it be fine to put in the 3200mhz since I don’t want to be mean and tell him to return it or it is a bad idea and just tell him the truth?

stoic island
#

@little osprey What motherboard and CPU do you have?

it wont damage anything

little osprey

Ok thanks so much that just took that off my head

viral ore

it is extremely likely that the ram will run at 3200 tho

weak raft

quick question will the b450m steel legend work with ryzen 5 3600 out of box?

steel legend is just an overpriced Pro4 tbh

@wide sparrow why extra RGB fans wheres already those front fans on the TD500?

upper condor
#

Any reason for ram or psu?

stoic island
#

oh wait

upper condor
#

Rgb

#

Thermaltake

stoic island
#

theres 3 empty fan slots

#

I forgot

#

that PSU is nice but you can go down to 650w

wide sparrow
#

3 fans for air cooler

stoic island
#

bruh why

upper condor
#

Really

wide sparrow
#

push and pull

stoic island
#

those 3 fans are case fans you mean

upper condor
#

Why get the black one then

wide sparrow
#

and RGB

#

xd

upper condor
#

Oh nvm

wide sparrow
#

well

upper condor
#

Get 3 pack of mf120

#

Cheaper

#

And aura sync

wide sparrow

Oh boy. Link me up

stoic island

they're not cheaper

wide sparrow

But does it have good static pressure?

wide sparrow

Mmmmm

OK that's enough (●__●)

#

So dont get it because of not having 4 pins

foggy stag
#

Anything wrong with this as a sub $800 build?

stoic island
#

Get ripjaw v 3600mhz cl16 for like 10$ more

#

I'm not too familiar with the PSU but I think it's okay

#

Consult the tier list in pinned messages

wide sparrow
latent bronze
#

If the cooler master case has a fan control box better make sure it would be compatible with the fans you picked

wide sparrow
#

How would I know?

latent bronze
#

You'd look at the case and fan headers

little osprey
#

Dont get a cooler master case @wide sparrow

#

There quality is meh

#

Their

latent bronze
#

Depends on the case

little osprey
#

Usually cm isnt the greatest

wide sparrow
#

this case didn't even come out yet

little osprey
#

There fans and such are bad

latent bronze
wide sparrow
#

Mmmm

latent bronze
#

I am using a Cooler Master fan on my CPU cooler and it is working out great and silent

little osprey
#

Too much plastic

#

For 90 you can get an h500

wide sparrow
little osprey
#

Or any fractal case

wide sparrow
#

Does it come with case fans and in white?

latent bronze
#

The H500 from NZXT comes with 2 non RGB fans

#

@little osprey Also you have to be more specific when saying H500 cause there is one from NZXT and one from Cooler Master

little osprey
#

H510 nzxt

#

So @wide sparrow you want rgb to the max?

wide sparrow
#

😏

little osprey
#

Yeah you can get the h510 in white

latent bronze
#

Also the case JP picked is all white

little osprey
#

The fans will be black

wide sparrow
#

Oh no

latent bronze
#

inside is black on the H510

little osprey
wide sparrow
#

But the airflow?

#

And cable management?

latent bronze
#

Id suggest my case but for fans are proprietary

#

the 4 included is more than enough since i never had any heating issues

#

Cable management as well is very good

wide sparrow
little osprey
#

H510 is good for airflow

cursive wharf
#

@foggy stag https://pcpartpicker.com/list/DYc26R
-mobo: picked due to sound chip, amount of M2 ports, amount of USB ports, PCIe ports
-ram: picked due to 3600 CL16 for barely more
-ssd: picked due to most not needing NVMe and trying to save money for other components
-hdd: picked due to 2tb being barely more then 1tb
-gpu: picked due to 1660 non Super being overpriced and basically same price as a 1660 Super
-case: it was cheap and budget was already at limit
-psu: picked due to BR not being too great. CX is usually the cheapest PSU that is good

little osprey
#

As gamers nexus finds

latent bronze
#

So Hei did you see the new video from Hardware Unboxed that says that Tom's Hardware doesn't do their tests right

little osprey
#

Really

#

In what ways @latent bronze

cursive wharf
#

Many people do tests in Toms Hardware. Tests for PSUs, CPU coolers, CPUs, GPUs, etc

little osprey
#

I can't watch rn

#

Give me a quick summary if you will

latent bronze
#

Pretty much the new MSI X570 boards heat up too much on Ryzen 9's and Tom's says that it is cool but they're using a 3700X instead

#

Also that you shouldn't be using Ryzen 9's on that X570

wide sparrow
#

Oh boy

cursive wharf
#

But as said, T HW is made of a team, one mess up from a single author doesn't say much about it in general

wide sparrow
#

now I want to get the steel instead of the tuff gaming

latent bronze
#

he pointed out more than one mess up from a single author

#

ASRock Steel Legend?

#

if that is it it's a good board

wide sparrow
#

Yes

#

looks better as well

#

more white NYEHE

little osprey
#

Or the asus prime x570

#

Is even better

#

@wide sparrow

wide sparrow
#

But at what cost

#

Ah yes....but no WiFi

latent bronze
#

You can always buy a PCIE WiFi adapter for your system

#

One that can also be a lot better than the on board one's

wide sparrow
#

You're right

latent bronze
cursive wharf
#

x570 steel legend is good

little osprey
wide sparrow
#

Mmmmm

latent bronze
#

But does it have WiFi included

#

and on sale for a limited time

#

Also RGB is so little on it

#

Oh and only 1 M.2 shield on the Asus board

wide sparrow
#

Mmm expensive

#

I'll get that instead just for the looks lol

#

Even tho its 50 dollars more

#

Vram must be amazing on this

latent bronze
#

If i was in your shoes i would still go with the ASRock board

wide sparrow
#

Which one in particular

latent bronze
#

Remember that ASRock board has a WiFi antenna

wide sparrow
#

tru

latent bronze
#

And don't forget that Asus board is only on sale for like a day or two so you have no idea how much it would be after

cursive wharf
#

Prime P is usually $150

wide sparrow
#

Eeeh

#

I'll just stay with the tuff gaming to save some cash

latent bronze
#

ASrock i would still go for so you're in your theme

wide sparrow
#

Crap

#

asrock it is

#

If something goes wrong I'll return it

cursive wharf
#

Asrock x570 and TUF x570 are basically the same. So get whichever I guess

little osprey
#

Asrock bios is not the greatest @wide sparrow

#

Asus is much better

#

The tuf will be alot better

latent bronze
#

That's funny

little osprey
#

What is @latent bronze

latent bronze
#

Saying that ASRock bios is not that great

sullen spoke
#

I’ve only used bios on that popular cheap asrock board and it was a nightmare

#

Mostly because it had basically no features

latent bronze
#

Ya but for all the modern boards has features

#

Even their A320 boards has features lol

sullen spoke
#

Very few

foggy hazel

IF the board works and you are not OC'ing, it really does not matter one bit

sullen spoke

True

#

I am just a freak that likes to be able to see everything

little osprey
#

I've worked with all the major mb brands and by far asrock was the worst

#

@latent bronze

#

Asus was the best

upper condor
#

@little osprey it all depends on the mobo and user

little osprey
#

True but why steer someone towards something you know isnt that great

Because it couldve improved.... when did u last use asrock?

little osprey

@sullen spoke so true

upper condor

Asrock bios looks fine

little osprey

Asrock is even worse than gigabyte

Which is a low bar

sullen spoke

I love my asus mobo

I had a maximus apex motherboard and it was awesome

sullen spoke
#

I have Maximus x hero

little osprey

Asus bios is the best

#

I have gigabyte rn and its awful

#

But asrock was worse

wide sparrow
#

Ooof

#

Don't make me not build my PC

little osprey
#

Go with asus where available

#

Asus software is also better than competitors

upper condor
#

@wide sparrow dont listen to him 100% obvs an asus fanboy

little osprey
#

Lol

#

I have a gigabyte motherboard

olive kraken
#

I have a similar ish question

wide sparrow
#

Yooo.....i don't know what to believe in anymore 😭

little osprey
#

Asrock fanboy

wide sparrow
#

Ooo

upper condor
#

I have an msi mobo.....

little osprey
#

I'm neutral

upper condor
#

And gigabyte dual bios can be helpful

#

Msi's is pretty good imo

little osprey
#

Dosent help their bios tho

#

Msi is pretty good

upper condor
#

Doesn't*

little osprey
#

Not as good as asus tho

upper condor
#

I like how msi has a simple mode, and advanced

little osprey
#

Sorry for spelling lol

#

All of then have that

upper condor
#

But msis is better

little osprey
#

No asus

#

Asus has better quality

olive kraken
#

Asus X570 plus (wifi) or gigabyte Aorus Elite x570 wifi or msi x570 mpg gaming edge

#

:(

upper condor
#

@olive kraken what fits budget best

little osprey
#

Asus

upper condor
#

Wait nvm all similarly priced

olive kraken
#

I can fit all of them just fine

little osprey
#

I forget which one but one of msi's motherboards has vrm cooling issues

#

There was an article about it

cursive wharf
#

What do you use it for? Gaming edge's only good thing is the network chip

blissful garden
#

asus more like asus

cursive wharf
#

apart from that Gaming edge kinda sucks

little osprey
#

Asus=best

olive kraken
#

I'm in between 2 builds, one relies on aesthetics but less performance like dropping gpu and CPU or Full on performance which kicks up CPU and GPU by a lot but then I go with stuffi don't like

little osprey
#

Asrock=a ss

olive kraken
#

Gaming only and light CAD

upper condor
#

These are bios

#

All are fine

cursive wharf
#

best what? best price to perf? Sometimes. best quality no matter what? Eh

little osprey
#

Asus has best performance

upper condor
#

No it doesnt.

cursive wharf
#

why?

upper condor
#

There are better boards

#

@cursive wharf hes an asus fanboy

little osprey
#

I'm not

foggy hazel
#

@little osprey that is very much a question of what metric you are looking at

upper condor
#

Then why do you keep saying its the best when its not?

little osprey
#

How is it not?

upper condor
#

There are board that are higher quality

#

Thats what I mean

little osprey
#

Obviously

foggy hazel
#

the boards, IF actually running ACTUAL stock, perform so closely that it doesnt matter, UNLESS you are trying to go for a benchmark record.

cursive wharf
#

b450 board? Well Carbon Pro AC is the best out of b450. Why?
M2 ports, network chip, sound chip, USB ports, RGB headers, PCIe slots, etc

upper condor
#

@little osprey name why asus is better

#

And ill believe you

olive kraken
upper condor
#

@olive krakenone sec

little osprey
#

The bios is easier to navigate

#

The boards I've had from them are better quality imo

upper condor
#

@olive kraken u12, bitfenix whisper

cursive wharf
#

lol. So just because BIOS looks better literally all other things about the board dont matter?

foggy hazel
#

@little osprey question: how much time do you spend in the bios?

little osprey
#

The quality of boards is better too

#

Alot

#

@foggy hazel

#

I oc alot

upper condor
little osprey
#

Intel amd you name it

cursive wharf
#

@upper condor @olive kraken Newegg should have a better deal on the Whisper

foggy hazel
#

then give that as the context @little osprey

upper condor
#

Plus, you pretty much just oc ram in bios

foggy hazel
#

an OC board choice makes no logical choice from the non-oc users POV

little osprey
#

I also have experience with all of them

upper condor
#

And thats because its slow at stock

#

Cpu and gpu can be oc'ed with software

foggy hazel
#

as do i Deadshot, as do i.

#

and it really really doesnt matter one bit for a non-oc user [edit: -s]

little osprey
#

True

foggy hazel
#

context matters.

upper condor
#

@little osprey also ryzen automatically overclocks when needed, to a certain extent

little osprey
#

My most stable boards have been in this order asus msi gigabyte asrock

#

I onow

#

Know

foggy hazel
#

i dont know why people (not you specifically Deadshot) in general have such a hard time giving context for their statements.

little osprey
#

But the scores vary from board to board

#

From stock

foggy hazel
#

99.999% of all debates here are because people dont give context for their statements.

little osprey
#

Different amd motherboards affect clocks differently

foggy hazel
#

because "stock" is not actually "stock"

little osprey
#

Like my gigabyte auto did pbo

#

And other things

foggy hazel
#

it is what makes mainboard comparisons on the intel side an exercise in futility.

upper condor
#

Which is bad? Because you said you hate it

little osprey
#

No

olive kraken
#

Distraught me trying to understand this whole argument

little osprey
#

I'm just saying different boards on amd perform different when stock

upper condor
#

@olive krakendid u see my list?

olive kraken
#

Oui

cursive wharf
#

@little osprey b450 Strix F cant do an OCed 3900x very well, but a MSI b450 Carbon Pro AC can

little osprey
#

My gigabyte board had memory issues

cursive wharf
#

So Asus isnt better

foggy hazel
#

@olive kraken you can easily get by with a 650w psu

little osprey
#

That's b450

cursive wharf
#

yet we take the best of the two b450

little osprey
#

Whixh is budget

cursive wharf
#

"Asus is always best"

olive kraken
#

I might get a 2080ti tho

upper condor
#

Budget? Why

little osprey
#

With an enthusiast cpu

upper condor
#

B450 has very good options

olive kraken
#

Depends on how much OT I'm willing to do

cursive wharf
#

oh doesnt matter because that's budget

upper condor
#

B450 isnt budget, its good value

little osprey
#

B450 isnt the top teir

#

It's meant for like ryzen 5 and below

upper condor
#

No

cursive wharf
#

You're now contradicting yourself
We are taking the top tier of b450 which you just said that Asus is always best

upper condor
#

Its not

cursive wharf
#

So, is Asus or isnt Asus always best?

upper condor
#

Again, a b450 pro carbon can run a 3900X

foggy hazel
#

i would recommend that people stick to 1 debate at a time.

little osprey
#

Depends

#

Where did you get your info

foggy hazel
#

or you wont ever get any actual debate going.

cursive wharf
#

a well researched spreadsheet

little osprey
#

I don't click links

cursive wharf
#

well if you dont want to get disproven by facts then go ahead

#

If you dont want to go by actual sources then sure, anything is possible because who cares about proof

little osprey
#

Just tell me where you got that spreadsheet

#

Like who made it

upper condor
#

A reddit user

cursive wharf
little osprey
#

Didnt Tom's hardware just get roasted by hardware unboxed

latent bronze
#

So @little osprey you admit Asus is bad then

little osprey
#

No lol

cursive wharf
#

and there are still three other sources?

wide sparrow
#

Good spreadsheet. Most of these boards do well with 3700x or 8

little osprey
#

Because a b450 board got beat

wide sparrow
#

not 3950 tho

little osprey
#

Still 12 cores

upper condor
#

Duh

#

3900 is possible

little osprey
#

I'm just saying that b450 is budget

#

Not meant for major ocing

latent bronze
upper condor
#

Its not though

#

B450 isnt budget

#

A320 is

cursive wharf
#

You said Asus is ALWAYS best
Did you note the always?

#

now you're changing your statement?

little osprey
#

Lol ok pretty sure that was foe bios

#

For

upper condor
#

@little osprey why is b450 budget

little osprey
#

Because it like 100$

foggy hazel
#

@upper condor technically, b450 is the budget line

upper condor
#

And?

little osprey
#

If b450 wasnt budget what is the purpose of x470

upper condor
#

Its literally the same as x570, it was the predecessor of b450

foggy hazel
#

if you want a different name, you can call it mainstream.

little osprey
#

Is b450 better than x470?

upper condor
#

No

#

X470 is better

foggy hazel
#

it is NOT the same as x570

cursive wharf
upper condor
#

Not same

subtle halo
#

xD why would they make 470 then xD

foggy hazel
#

not even remotely close @upper condor

upper condor
#

I mean it holds the same place

foggy hazel
#

no. they dont.

upper condor
#

Like, 2nd gen compatibility right?

#

It was the first board with it

#

Or am I wrong

foggy hazel
#

their feature sets are very far apart

wide sparrow
#

Asus overall has the best performance for vrm

little osprey
#

So true

#

Vrms are also not as good

#

Form b450 to x470

foggy hazel
#

@upper condor also, context context context :)

little osprey
#

From

upper condor
#

@foggy hazel I know they are very different, wasnt comparing quality

#

My bad

latent bronze
#

Asus makes good boards but the best that is going a little too far

cursive wharf
#

^

latent bronze
#

Also takes a lot for Hei to agree with me on something

upper condor
#

Meant as in x470 was holding the same place as x570, the first with 2nd gen/3rd gen compatibility @foggy hazel

cursive wharf
#

lol, true

foggy hazel
#

yes, because high-end gets updated first (generally)

upper condor
#

Mhm

foggy hazel
#

it is part of what you pay for with the parts.

little osprey
#

The more you pay the more you get in most situations

foggy hazel
#

but, that is still only talking about the comp. and that is very much a debate in a vacuum

upper condor
#

@little osprey there is a point if diminishing returns always

true comet
#

Hey chat - thoughts about I7 9700k vs I5 9600k?

little osprey
#

True

#

Take the 2080 ti

cursive wharf
#

For what workload?

little osprey
#

Its price to performance is bad

upper condor
#

Horrible*

little osprey
#

But still is the best

upper condor
#

2080s is much better value

foggy hazel
#

unless you need what it offers, then it is very competitive.

little osprey

Unless your crazy and get a titan

@true comet i7 is definately better, just depends on your budget

little osprey

I think I've build like 10 pcs now

upper condor

Naed has been building longer than ive been alive

@little osprey naed has probably built like 300000000

little osprey
#

Idk I dont like the 9700k

cursive wharf
#

"300000000" lol

little osprey

The 9700k dosent have hyperthreading

foggy hazel

i dont want to know if i have built that many @upper condor

subtle halo

Naed has been building longer than ive been alive
@upper condor naed makes all the prebuilt system in the whole world hahaa

little osprey

I'd wait till 10 gen comes out

upper condor

Lol yeah

subtle halo

naed ftw

little osprey

10 gen supposedly brings back hyperthreading

foggy hazel

this week so far is 16 machines or so

upper condor

What do you do naed

upper condor

If its not broken, dont fix it

true comet

Wrong chat.... im an idiot

foggy hazel

can we NOT get into politics :)

upper condor

Yep

little osprey

I mean the eu controls countries

upper condor

Shhhhh

Theres a rule about this I believe

foggy hazel
#

@true comet if you want, you can send me a pm

true comet

upper condor

Rule 5

subtle halo

ow

little osprey

700 is kinda high

subtle halo

spicy

little osprey

You could probably cut back

upper condor
#

Plus, what psu exactly?

true comet
#

I have a 700 now

little osprey
#

true comet
#

just bought

little osprey
#

Then keep it

cursive wharf
#

So first off what is the workload

true comet
#

but its knock off I think

cursive wharf
#

also what is the PSU model

#

just cuz it's 700w 80+ gold doesnt mean it's good

upper condor
#

I like how we are all debating and then the second someone needs help we are all spamming them😆

cursive wharf
#

normal people stop a debate by cutting them off and saying that is enough
we just do it by having someone ask for help

true comet
#

Apevia ATX sp600Watt (sorry not 700)

foggy hazel
cursive wharf
#

Yee I'd change that PSU, kinda dangerous

upper condor

Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

#

but I am not a pro

rich void
#

An aio almost as expensive as your CPU seems unnecessary. Could just bump up to a better processor with that money

upper condor
true comet
#

the Aio i was more on looks (comes with a $$)

#

Now this may be a very stupid statement - but after searching the web the Parts i had displays are "top 5" to work with one another -- IE CPU, Motherboard, AIO, Ram etc

upper condor
#

More expensive

true comet
#

so any changes go over my head - with this being said if a change is recommend would anyone mind explaining the reasoning?

upper condor
#

Yep

rich void
#

That's up to you. My focus would be performance, so for $400 I'd look at like a 3700x, or you could get a less expensive cooler

upper condor
#

@true comet aio is kinda useless, air coolers have same performance

true comet
#

now I was bouncing off the idea I7 9700k vs I6 9600k

#

@upper condor thank you for that

#

I5*

upper condor
#

I7 is just more cores

true comet
#

which I believe is my current builds issue 2 cores i5

#

drops fps hard

cursive wharf
#

what is the build for?

true comet
#

Gaming

#

@upper condor I am liking the second build lingo and pricing

cursive wharf
#

If just gaming then get R5 3600 and dont get Intel

true comet
#

Any ideas to performance difference?

cursive wharf
#

less stuttering

true comet
#

Mind is made up on intel @cursive wharf

#

unless it shouldnt be

upper condor
#

It shouldnt

cursive wharf
#

AMD gives better perf, like it's simply better for the same price or cheaper

true comet
#

Now with this in the mix its a whole new game. Ultimately I am trying to create a beast gaming pc roughly 1k (I already have GPU so 1k additional)

#

High Frames potential to run mixer streams would be nice - and visually pleasing

upper condor
#

Mixer cringe twitch good

cursive wharf
#

I mean with 1k you can get a full PC with a 2060S/5700 which is better then your current one

true comet
#

switched off twitch - more retention on mixer

#

@cursive wharf I purchased a 1660ti as an upgrade (went wrong) so i have that as a GPU - I am literally open to anything outside of that

#

Im coming into a very hefty commission check so again money isnt the problem I would just like to spend 1k

cursive wharf
#

Can you return it? Not really a well suited card for the budget

true comet
#

Possibly, but I did use it for a week

#

I ordered on amazon roughly 2.5weeks agoi

upper condor
#

Still returnable

#

As long as no dust and looks nice

true comet
#

box is trashed...

cursive wharf
#

I'd suggest that then work with the 1.2k or so budget you'll have for the entire PC

true comet
#

like literally in the trash

#

gone

wispy matrix
#

I would do 1.2k budget I might get my computer parts sometime around the first week of March or the 2nd week

true comet
#

so ill have a 1.3k budget

#

So now the question I ask you chat. Any reccomendations for a 1.3k comp build

upper condor
#

I really would help @true comet, but its late and I wanna sleep

#

Good luck

true comet
#

@upper condor Thanks for the help thus far I believe my purchase will be paused until I figure this out. Ill be a frequent flyer here!

cursive wharf
#

@wispy matrix Do the same build above but use a 3600 instead of 3700x

wispy matrix
#

Hei

cursive wharf
#

yes?

wispy matrix
#

Nvm it was lower price

#

Back to the drawing board

cursive wharf
#

you also said nothing about monitors

wispy matrix
#

You sure

#

“Can someone help me find cheap dual monitors to stay under budget” this is from past chat

cursive wharf
#

a while back yes. But I dont see every message and remember them all

true comet
#

pulled into a work call

#

will check shortly @cursive wharf

cursive wharf
#

@wispy matrix I'd go with this https://pcpartpicker.com/list/b7DBzN
-mobo: TUF Pro has a better sound chip, more M2 slots, more PCIe slots
-SSD: That's still a SATA SSD, even if M2. This makes it harder to upgrade to NVMe later as now it's harder to reuse the drive due to limited number of M2 ports. Also perf doesnt change for a form factor premium
-case: only comes with one case fan, so got one that comes with two

wispy matrix
#

I’m going around the 1200 mark

cursive wharf
#

RAM can OC to 3466/3600 CL16 and case is slightly cheaper

silk helm
#

Not sure where would be the best place to ask for advice, so I guess I'll just ask here

#

My laptop that I got back in 2016 recently went out and I'm considering getting a new one

sacred obsidian
#

do you want/need the portability?

silk helm
#

I do

#

I was wondering if it was necessary to get a new gaming laptop or if it was possible to just build a desktop and use remote access when I'm out of town?

sacred obsidian
#

oof

#

so

#

there is pc to pc streaming, but its bad for gaming

#

there is also streaming services through like, nvidia or steam

#

but its not always good

#

you have to have good internet access and even then im not sure how they work

#

so it would be easier to get a good or at least decent gaming laptop

silk helm
#

I'm mainly a casual gamer (LoL and Arena) but I definitely want something that I can play MHW on

sacred obsidian
#

monster hunter world?

silk helm
#

Yeah

sacred obsidian
#

so you're going to want a better laptop then. its either get a good gaming laptop or take the risk of streaming. but im also not savy in streaming pc to pc. thats something i plan on looking into later lol

#

but again, streaming also requires a good connection. so you'd need access to a good internet connection to stream it to playable levels, which can be an issue. with a gaming laptop you'd be able to play anywhere.

silk helm
#

I'm inexperienced in building PC'S to say the least, but I know building your own is cheaper than having one prebuilt

sacred obsidian
#

that is desktop only though.

silk helm
#

Though it's near impossible to build a gaming laptop

true comet
#

@cursive wharf just finished working

silk helm
#

Because of the nature of the parts

true comet
#

just took a look at the build

#

looking mighty fine from what I can say

sacred obsidian
#

there was a "portable" desktop tier laptop esque case i saw a loooong time ago but i cant find it anymore and its super big, bulky, heavy, and not practical lol. it was essentually a case on its side with a screen lol

#

but yeah, building your own laptop is pretty much impossible and if you could do it it would probably end up being more expensive.
