Thx
Nah my old is a dell optiplex 790 with after market parts
@jolly scaffold https://pcpartpicker.com/list/qL2PK4
its like 30 bucks over but if need me try to get at 1500 exact i can
Nah that’s fine
I gotta Pat for my Costa Rica trip and then all my pay checks are being put towards a pc
@upper condor alot ram is over priced
Get g.skill 3600
its 3 gen ryzen really needs fast speeds
For 78
Reason: Bad word usage
No rgb but much cheaper
g.skill kit has bad timings
let me re check quick
@jolly scaffold do you want RGB or don't care
if not i can make bit cheaper
Reason: Bad word usage
Reason: Too many infractions
what case should i get ? does it matter?
I don’t care the ram does seem kinda high
ok
@little osprey
Yeah
$75 for 16 gb
any how @upper condor that g,skill kit is cl 16-19-19-19-39 which is pretty bad
Wdym thats good
yeah they raising prices again
Dood
i changed over for him https://pcpartpicker.com/list/4JMsmg
16-18-18-18-38 is only slightly better than 16-19-19-19-39
It sometimes guarantees b die, but not always
Noice thanks @little osprey
If not getting pci gen 4 its dumb to buy x570
tomahawk max is perfect for ocing
manual ocing is dead on 3 gen chips anyway
if running ryzen 3000 series chip its better to just let PBO do its thing
pc part picker isn’t working for me. can someone look this up?
r5 3600
1660ti
b450 tomahawk
16 gb RAM
Budget: $700-800
Ok
i got you
@upper condor the vrm part is very overrated
the mainboards that have "bad" vrm still work just fine
yeah pls take care of that
he's missing a psu and case btw
case and psu
Oh ok
plus storage
@upper condor you pretty fast lmao
Ik
you should check out my build pic if interested
Cant get much cheaper than that though
D:
thank you @upper condor
Yep
i am waiting for better AMD high end gpu
5700xt is place holder and has more compute power than nvidia cards at moment
yup D:
would i need an optic drive ?
how would i install windows then
usb
oh okay
my hope is when AMD finally brings big navi it has HBM2E or HBM3
what’s the new gpu that they’re releasing?
@wind leaf its in price range you would not be able to afford no offense
it won't be because it won't be based on vega 20
I doubt it costs that much to manufacture those
we should proby take this talk in #graphics-cards side
Navi is like the 5500XT/5600XT/5700/5700XT , Big Navi might have some new number
oh vamps came back in lol wb vamps
now i just need to save $200
it may be a 6700
Big navi is proby more RNDA 2 than what current navi is have different numbering scheme
yes, you said what i said
i just wonder when big navi will come out hopefully at GDC
if it's RDNA2 we can expect some gains and some ray tracing
how long on average would it take to set up my pc?
if it's your first time building a PC
few hours at most
2 for cable managment
it will take like 4 hours
i have so many questions lol
cable management is something i just learned and i've been building PCs forever
like i really just started looking into pc parts yesterday
like what’s a wifi chip or wifi card
i’ve seen it mentioned a few times
allows you to use wireless
is it expensive
because not all motherboards have wifi
Depends
depends
no, they're not expensive usually
does a b450 tomahawk have one
ideally you want to have a motherboard with built in wifi
no
no it doesn't
Can someone help me?
the motherboard will have wifi in the model name probably
so i’d have to buy a wifi card or just use an ethernet cord!
WiFi xD
?*
@shut rampart whats the problem
@wind leaf yes
Is it suppose to be loss like that
Both should be up
no
i dont think it should w i g g l e
The other one is solid
it's not supposed to be loose
wiggle
Yha
The WiFi
But what kind of floor?
the floor kind
I like corsair but there are better options for price
Yeah
tbh i like corsair but as workstation user i don't want all that blingy stuff
Definitely
tbh if buying high end case i buy from inwin over corsair
Yeah
Yeah they do a good job with their cases but price tho
Yes like what the hell
Holy that's expensive for a case too?
Not really compared to what variants offer
Yeah
plus i was buying this case to as workstation user not caring for bling just airflow and water cooling support
not bad at all
k
Yeah
Cool corsair rgb
Not the best ram but
I dont need a ton of storage though 1tb is enough
Just gaming on this
Lol
yeah just do what you need and not go overkill
I have 3 tb of games
Change mobo, ram, NVMe, case, and PSU
why
MSI x570 sucks, can get 3600 cl16 for cheaper, case is overpriced so get a cheap case with a 5 pack of RGB fans for $35, p1 NVMe has no DRAM cache, RM isn't a suitable 750w option tbh
Damn hei coming in hot
good suggestions tho
Can get x570 yes, but MSI done goof on x570
I went ASUS
yeah
still 2080s
Yeah
if plans on getting better monitor it would add up
$1050 usually for a not so bad 2080Ti
Ok lemme redo my budget
My budget is 2k
Oh yeah totally
LMAO
No monitor either
How about i just get titan v?
Yes
Nothing wlse
Titan rtx
I can just spin the fans
Yo im building my first pc and im wondering if its worth to get an m.2...mainly for gaming and school woek
Iv current part list?
Lol
Gaming aswell lol
Already have the rest of the parts just need storage
What’s your cash money budget
Lol pre-built pfff noob
Whole build €800
900 dollar
America money
Sad, prices rose. 2080Ti won't be got if you need a monitor
How much nvme
Like $130 i think
So far for a 2k build. Get upHere RGB fans for cheap
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/6xVVDx
A little slow today lol
I was thinking of getting the sabrent m.2 bcus its best price-performance
It was, NVMe prices went way up
Or you could be a gamer and just get a hard drive ecks dee
Idk biut that cooler
I’d get an ssd
im gonna get a u12s
Like a regular ssd
Waste of money
But that’s up to u
Don't go by brand, go by perf
Yeah
perf?
and noctua is good
Perfect
And is overpriced
Perfect lol
And good
Does it matter what nvme..cus someone told they were faster no matter what
They are
Yet overpriced. thermalright, scythe, etc have coolers that are basically the same noise normalized perf as Noctua for much cheaper
Noctua is just regarded as best cooling company at least Normal Cooling if talking Loops its EK or Bitspower
Thx for the help @hollow grove
Np
@little osprey with that 1500$ pc you made on pcpartpicker for me could it run a vr
@jolly scaffold yes
Alrighty
@cursive wharf
That’s cash money
I was looking at that Corsair bundle earlier today it’s a nice deal
Yeah
looks solid since you upgrading monitor and such
if were still talking about ssds samsung nvme is over priced
only thing Samsung drives that worth price are pro
but i am talking as workstation user evo stuff is over priced
Then what should i get instead
@upper condor if going spend 2k on build why b450?
he revising it again @cursive wharf
I’m diggin it
@upper condor bit better maybe add some extra storage?
I mean hey dude with the money saved that’s a lot of games you could get too
That seems like a lot
I never understood why people would get all games on nvme it seems like a waste of money to me
All of your games on a hard drive and windows on nvme
Ez dub
Gamer don't always understand pc related stuff just think faster is better
Rip everything costs like 15% more where i live(pc parts)
Yeah
Prob more lol
Why would u get a samsung nvme rip u gonna be paying royalty for that
Fr
like i said before only thing thats worth a damn is pro series thats only for workstation users
Yes
I’m a big dummy
ik
I like that
friends
btw wanna be friends
3900X lol
I have 3 and they fr suck a lot
lol
ive been wanting to jump in but its been going so long i didnt wanna read all that back log lol
dint miss much
O someone got kicked?
yeh
Darn I missed the action
i mean i understand it and i have to stop myself a loooooooot lol
He said poop
yeah now going be more careful its a little annoying
well i learned some things cause i started talking about your kick in the nitro chat
apparently its more linient over time
ooo
Not rlly
so liek if you swear 3 times you get kicked or somethin right
btw i have my boost back tmr so i my status back
yes 3
but if you swear 3 times over 3 years it doesnt kick
however if you get kicked and come back in and oopsie to soon again its a perma ban
i think mine was like 4 or 5 idk
tbh just going keep my filter on to be safe
like so if you swore a year ago, while that infraction is still there, its not goign to be used against you
well yeah thats what you're supposed to do xD
i mean it was not bad proby just not kid friendly
which i am guessing restriction is targeted for kids
Exactly
yeah i get that too
btw i have some other techy servers to go too if need let loose on bad hardware
ahh cute D:
👏
oof i have my ms2 guild server which is dead now cause i stopped playing, and then my podcast server which i just did a soft release of xD
Nice
I have 1 server with like 10 people and we gamer rage all the time lol
thats always fun lol
looks good
I hope
i mean i can tell you its going to be a powerhouse lol
Definitely
@upper condor when u searched this up for me: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/cJyhK4
There’s no cooling in the list. I assume it doesn’t need cooling?
https://fi.pcpartpicker.com/list/9d2PK4 do i need a exhaust fan
@wind leaf the 3600 comes with a cooler
Yeah
no ssd>?
oh ok thanks
you are very much missing a ssd
^^
ssd?
solid state drive
solidstate drive
its faster than a harddrive when loading things
nike
yes
you said max budget was 800 earlier but with monitor and peripherals right?
excluding monitor and peripherals
i thought he said he had those?
okay.
the monitor and peripherals are handled. i don’t have them atm. but they are not apart of this budget
well keep in mind a cheap monitor is going to be another 100 and a good cheap one is going to be at least 200
though i’m open to suggestions on what peripherals to get. Someone already suggested a monitor from newegg that i was looking for. 144hz 1 ms response time and under $200
thats good
im currently using a logitech g502e and like 30$ hyperx keyboard, both from best buy which work really well
other than that on your build, i would knock that 3600 down to a 2600 and use the extra money to buy a 2.5in ssd
but this was a while back
the g502e is 20 bucks
you can get cheap mice but they are usually cheap quality lol
the r5 2600 and the 3600.. whats the difference?
the 3600 is newer and slightly better
like 15% faster
but thats the only place i can see to knock something down without losing a lot of gaming performance and get an ssd on top without going over budget
@wind leaf the reason i have mentioned the SSD a couple of times now is that it is the single biggest upgrade to 99.999% of machines
so a 2600 is still good for streaming
yes
@foggy hazel really? Wow.
yes really.
he getting 1660ti so that be really good for streaming
it really cannot be stated enough.
i was a ssd shunner
then i broke and finally got on
and holy heck was i wrong
pc boot time is 10-15 secs to desktop
what is nvec
nvenc*
it's NVidia built in encoder for streaming
that
basically makes it easier and better to stream games
before that i blieve it was all on cpu
okay, i know the following is going to ruffle some feathers
what is the ghz
only times nvenc become dumb is when talking ryzen 9 series and above
however, that mainboard in nike's machine is way too expensive for what it is
he did for himself
feathers rustled
like i’m looking right now and I see that 4ghz is the best now
core clock
i know that it is "the" darling of reddit and all that jazz
LOL
but holy heck.
@foggy hazel you might be better off making him pcpartpicker list
i just dont like msi boards
it has hecking bad audio, no wifi, no nothing. aside from the supposedly "Superduperfantastic with a bow on it" vrm
tbh only MSI boards worth a damn is their 330 and flagship boards
I’m so sorry i have so many questions
its fine nike
and it’s easier to ask you guys instead of researching and not getting direct answers
@wind leaf nothing to be sorry about, there are no stupid questions, only silly answers
like what does overclocking mean and do
takes X part and, by the use of extra power, raises the performance.
that is what it means, and what it does
overclocking kinda been dead for while now
you can oc a 2600 to 4+ghz but you would need a better cooler than stock
i wouldn't worry about it
yeah because i see that an r5 3600 has a 3.6 GHz core clock but the 2600 has a 3.4 GHz core clock
Nike / do you need/have-a-use-for wifi btw?
i’m just trying to weigh the differences
negligable lol
@foggy hazel ??
do you use wifi or are you connected by wire?
a 2600 will so pretty much everything you need as stock
well i use both at times. the pc i’m using now is connected through ethernet
a 3600 as well but also more expensive. just a newer generation
okay, a couple of questions for you, sorry in advance if they have been asked earlier.
the machine you are building, will you ever use wifi on that? (if it has wifi that is)
yeah i’d probably use wifi on it
ok
your use case for the new machine is streaming right?
and playing fortnite mainly?
ok so i reviewed the conversation i had with a friend who knows a lot about this stuff and he told me literally the exact same thing that you guys are telling me but it was so long ago that i forgot. So i’ll go with r5 2600. he told me that the 3600 is the same but just newer and faster clock speeds.
yes
just for gaming and potentially streaming
@upper condor it does.
7nm?
@wind leaf okay, give me a couple of minutes
And the 2nd gen uses 14 right?
i will bash up a pcpartpicker list for you
thanks
@upper condor 12nm
and so what does the clock speed affect?
i share a pc with my uncle and cousins atm. It’s an i7-8700k but it has integrated graphics 😭. It has 16gb of ram and everything
no i’m not buying that
o
it’s too expensive
We’re saying just use that but with a good gpu
when the r5 2600 has faster clock speed
ohh sorry 😅
Yeah i’ve been told it’s a good cpu
@wind leaf you got the ability to join a voice chat?
i am asking because a bunch of these questions could be answered fairly quickly in voice
whichever one you join
WOW
what are they designing lol
A pc
budget board
are you asking for opinions @upper condor
ahh ok
oof i cant understand naed at all
LOL
i just jumped in
no its the accent i have a big issue with even slight accents due to deafness
but that may change soon lol
thanks
sorry i got a lot of background noise here so im typing instead xD
yep
help
@mossy citrus intel makes some
vamp why dont you use push to talk instead of muting yourself every time
@upper condor not much of that is a good choice to recommend. CPU cooler is overpriced, SSD sucks, case has bad airflow, PSU isn't that great
@cursive wharf solid/cheap-ish budget psu, 450 watt. Suggestions?
idk what to get 0_0
Corsair CX? Is lacking in PCIe connectors tho
ima go eat and set up in the shack ill be back on in a bit
Think it has only one 6+2
hm
Also something else I just noticed, why 2600 and not 1600AF?
Idk just doing it for nike
helpp
what do you need help with @mossy citrus
i need to find a m.2 wificard
Like M2 e slot or whatever it's called?
yea
Don't really know anything sadly
oof
i think bekora or demonmit helped before
@muted patio @austere condor ca n u guys help me find a m.2 wifi card pls?
@latent bronze
M.2 WiFi card?
@hollow grove like this (idk if it's good)
https://www.amazon.ca/Dualband-Wireless-Bluetooth-Notebook-Advertising/dp/B07PFCR6T6/ref=asc_df_B07PFCR6T6/?tag=googlemobshop-20
Hey, Im looking for a good graphics card but i dont actually dont know too much about them. My pc has a Geforce GTX 660 rn and i dont know what i should look for
what budget?
more like what is your psu, and other pc components 😛
ya that might be a little important lol
Just ordered some new toys
AMD Ryzen 5 3600
MSI B450 TOMAHAWK MAX
G.SKILL Ripjaws V Series 32 GB
nice
Guys I’m building a budget pc and I’m wondering if I should buy a ryzen 5 3600 or 3600x
OMG I FOUND THE FUNNIEST HOW TO BUILD A PC VIDEO😂😂😂
wait nvm it shows the thumbnail of the vud
i was bout to rick roll all of yall
hello
i see
hello there
i was wondering if anybody can help me with making a pc build
sure bud
my budget is $1,650
not sure
oh and what are you using it for?
i plan it to use it for like a couple things tbh
watching stuff on it , play fighting games and work and streaming
any specific color in mind?
any color is cool
pink
@coarse coral welcome to the o11 master race
rip
@teal bison Why those SSDs tho? Get the nice ones, not the cheap ones
@teal bison cool
isnt sabrent a good brand?
Also why extra case fans?
Sabrent Rocket non Q
comparing specs they were a lot better than similarly priced nvmes
case airflow sucks yes, but it works best in negative pressure
ya i wasnt sure on the case
As for SSD I'd get this
https://pcpartpicker.com/product/GJkgXL/pioneer-1-tb-m2-2280-nvme-solid-state-drive-aps-se20g-1t
Less fancy looking on advertising, but same quality on everything but having better NAND
What’s a good case that’s not NZXT
i think the focus g is good right?
@cursive wharf correct me if im wrong i dont know much about cases
focus G is alright, a bit sucky compared to competition as it doesnt have tempered glass when other not so known brands do for the same price
what do you recommend around that price? what about the p300?
I’d say Corsair carbide 275r. It’s clean 70 bucks and it’s a mid tower
iirc that is pretty closed off tho
It has a tempered glass
This + an extra $7 case fan
https://pcpartpicker.com/product/zhjJ7P/cougar-mx330-g-atx-mid-tower-case-mx330-g
Also I meant airflow wise
is there a big difference between a hyper 212 evo and the stock 3600 cooler? is it worth the 35?
like i know the stock coolers arent great but for just 35 is the evo a good deal or not much of an upgrade?
Well, 212 is overpriced anyways. A simple $20 cooler is better then the 212
Gammaxx 400
ok, and that is worth getting?
Should i get a 1tb NVME m.2 for $100 or a 500gb sata m.2 for $65
Well, just never get a M2 SATA as it get hard to upgrade and reuse. Also I doubt that NVMe has DRAM cache so it's semi sucky most likely
So the 1tb
Well, which model?
Cuz a good 1tb 2.5" SATA is $81
While I cant find a decent NVMe for less then $125
Crucial p1
That lacks DRAM cache, so it can "die" hard in some scenarios
Any good m.2 then?
Doesn't Pioneer do a lot of audio equipment
what do you think about the TCSunBow X3 SSDs. Ive heard good and bad
its fine for budget . but not that good but its decent..
what about WD Blue?
x3 is pretty good, not lacking in DRAM cache and has a decent controller. Generally speaking you're not going to need more then what an X3 provides. Tho a WD Blue 3D NAND, Crucial MX500, and a couple others are better and if found for the same price then are worth it. If not for the same price, kinda just throwing money to get perf you wont notice
can someone explain to me what hevc/avc encoding recording stuff i could never understand it i see it in obs and radeon settings
ping me plz
High Efficiency Video Coding (HEVC), also known as H.265 and MPEG-H Part 2, is a video compression standard, designed as a successor to the widely used Advanced Video Coding (AVC, H.264, or MPEG-4 Part 10). In comparison to AVC, HEVC offers from 25% to 50% better data compres...
Advanced Video Coding (AVC), also referred to as H.264 or MPEG-4 Part 10, Advanced Video Coding (MPEG-4 AVC), is a video compression standard based on block-oriented, motion-compensated integer-DCT coding. It is by far the most commonly used format for the recording, compress...
video compression
H.264 best most of the time
which one is better? https://pcpartpicker.com/list/jtmhk6
@rare ice g pro wireless
some people in pcmr said razer viper ultimate is better?
pcmr is full of doodoo
I use a g pro wireless
the only real downside is the side buttons are kinda high on it
but doesnt matter much when you get used to it ingame
150 FOR A MOUSE WOW!
yes but very quality
I have small hands so ig it's fine
would you rather have 1080p 240hz or 1440p 144hz?
would these all be worth buying in your opinion? https://pcpartpicker.com/list/mspL4n
lmao
150$ mouse pro gamer mouse
is that list good though?
is this better combo than 4k60hz + 1080p 240hz?
it doesnt make any sense for me 150$ for a mouse
The monitor has no usb hub
but are the monitors a better combo than 4k60hz + 1080p 240hz?
don't worry about the mouse
I'm more concerned about the monitors
its fine
ok
unless you really like 4k
well I have a 2070s and a r7 3700x so it probs wont get 4k60fps ultra in newer games
but I can play them at 1440p at above 60fps
nc
but do you think this is the better option over 1080p 240hz?
4k doesnt reall make sense for me.. in gaming.. i like atleast wqhd
i need to focus in game
thats fine aslong you still get your frames
target frames
240hz lot of room for freesync range .. so you dont have to worry about soome games had bugs when the fps is out of freesync range
nvidia can drive freesync now
I'll buy the 1440p 144hz first and decide what I want for a second?
I'll also decide if I need a wireless mouse
it won't bc I'll know?
the ones with batteries?
yes
wireless?
i see no battery but thats because of mousepad stuff like The Razer Mamba HyperFlux
that mouse is recharable?
yes
yeah
i want the 2nd screen same as the first screen xD
my eyes gets dizzy if other seems slow in my eyes
costs more money and I don't see a point in a second 1440p 144hz
that’s one way to do that lol
would the 1440p 144hz also be good for competitive shooters though?
as well as single player games?
144Hz is good for competitive shooters
yeah
Im looking at buying a GPU and curious what one should i get... this is my first time building a PC
Here is the build I am currently trying to do (excluding a GPU), the tower and the CPU Cooler have already been gifted to me
GeForce GTX 1660 TI
GeForce GTX 2060
Radeon RX 5600 XT
Radeon RX 5700
Max Price for GPU is 360$
Im essentially looking for a GPU that is the best bang for my buck, Thank you all!
how do i go about choosing which (insert gpu here) though cause theres plenty from different manufacturers?
this one is on sale
so you already have the cpu
I actually probably wont get the gpu until around mid-late february but thanks for the input
i only have the tower and Fan Cooler right now
Its a process
how come?
ehh i want it to have upgradability
a320 xD
and i like the way it looks
i see only a 20$ difference
vs a 70 dollar b450
there are more b450 boards than just 1
thats fair sorry lol
lmao, its fine
what would be my advantages in getting the x470
ill look into the B450 though i just liked the way asus presented the 470 on their site seemed pretty nice to me lol
depends on which b450 you buy
ive used this phenominal board 3 times now
its not only the cheapest
but it just
works
on a budget
just no overclocking
lmao
im trying to oc
@magic rune get the 1600AF, change CPU cooler cuz 212 is overpriced, change RAM cuz it's overpriced, same with SSD, and same with PSU
he already has the cpu cooler
its free
also, im working on it
no need to bombard him
start with one component
work your way down
we will say about 850-1K
I mostly just give, short and concise info on what to change. Not in a rude way (or at least try)
and thats totally fine, but then people continue to ask questions like, what psu?
what motherboard
whats a 1600AF, i dont see it anywhere
I give all info of what to change at first, then work down the line
so, do you wanna overclock for the fun of it, or are you trying to get performance?
performance
getting better parts to run at stock speeds is faster at your budget than overpaying for overclocking components
im kinda set on getting a ryzen 2600 or x chip
mayyyybeee we can see after
also, i assume your primarily gaming?
cause essentially some of the lower cost items will most likely end up being gifts to me cause birthday coming up
yessir
so the ram you chose is actually perfect, because its a good price for the specs
i just wanna say i agree on the OC. its a fun project but on the 2600 or 3600 its not really neccesary at that point cause it wont bottleneck at 2070, only reason you need more power is if you go 2080+ rn.
thank you @sacred obsidian for the input:)
well 1 i doubt hes doing that, and 2, depends on the game. csgo prob will not have an issue 😛
idk what hes planning to play tho lol
ehh things like OW, Destiny 2, Diablo 3, maybe warframe like im just getting into pc gaming cause i need something not console
ive had my fair share of that
wont matter for this build, but there still are lows to consider on a 240Hz
age2DE
@cursive wharf need input on CXM 2015 450W
and im not super picky about like running ultra settings vs high xD
CXM has issues with coil whine
@magic rune does noise bother you?
i dissable shadows sometimes xD if i play fps
like, a little noise
because shadow added blind spot
not too much
epic
also hei oc still wont matter unless you also oc the gpu, and even then a 1660 oc'd prob still wont hit 240hz lol
I mean a low hum is much different then a high pitch squeel
this is true lol
So I generally advised against CXM
when you want to push more fps but your gpu keeps whining ...
but not really bad
haha
or maybe you've just interacted with me to much and it spread
i dont understand him
idk, doesnt seem like a good quality camera/mic tbh
o lol
i hear the hum
but i do want a 500gb for my OS and other stuff
480GB SATA SSD vs 256GB NVMe, about same price
I'd personally go SATA tbh
and like static charge
id rather have an nvme
1:12
and lose half the boot drive storage?
do explain lol
$65 for 512gb nvme
Well it's 256GB vs 480GB. The smaller drive is faster. however only under heavy workloads you'll notice it
which NVMe?
WD blue SN550
lacks DRAM cache, so can be a bit weird on perf
and how well are these brands compared to name brands? assuming these are things you have used in the past and its been well for you
tbh name brands are kinda a scam. Just look at proper reviews and specs, then at some reviews for perf, then at longterm reviews for life expectancy
Like an example. Two of the cheapest half tb drives here. With name brand you'd expect Kingston to be better. But it's actually one of the worst SSDs on the market and the other one is a pretty decent SSD
lacks DRAM but has HMB, so perf isnt horrible
x3 nuzzles, pounces on you, uwu you so warm
UwO
If you really want to, cheapest DRAM NVMe is $70
