Ok >.<
Dude the ones who build my pc gave me anxiety
They where doing things wrong
Cable management is a nightmare
You didn't build it yourself? 🤔 did it cost money to have them build it for you?
Well you get what you pay for
Dude they attach the shield on the motherboard and they put it
When they attached the heatsink it wasnt a cross style
... the wiring is the easy part
@left gazelle https://pcpartpicker.com/list/7hWt3t i would think that this is a much more reasonable build and its is around $600 cheaper the price you had before
And dont forget im a first timer
Prodigy, any reason there is a 2070 super in that list over a 5700XT?
forgot about it
Lol
whats the difference between a rtx and a rx
The 5700XT is just the better value card like $100 cheaper than the 2070 super for only a few frames difference
the rx has a clock speed of 1650 mhz
Rtx is Nvidias ray tracing GPUs which are more expensive but better and RX is AMDs line up of Radeon GPUs for a lower budget @left gazelle
im going for rtx
and the rtx has a clock spped of 1605mhz and is cheper
well go for the first link i put up
@left gazelle https://pcpartpicker.com/list/7hWt3t
The clock speeds don't matter between the two, they aren't comparable like that
Going for the RTX 2700 Super is basically paying $100 more for like 5 more FPS and Ray tracing which is in like 5 games and barely makes them look better while massively cutting FPS
Bruh
But if you really want to it's your money :)
Just wanna make sure you you are well informed about the value
2080 ti vs the best AMD GPU is like a 30 frame difference in some games
2070
Super
That's the GPU we are taking about
And in that price range the difference is barely there for a $100 difference
This is like a 50 frame difference in some games
And mostly 20 frame differences
So your paying 90 more dollars for 20 FPS increase
Which is a good deal in my opinion
Not to most people here
I’m pretty sure most people here that are looking for a mid range card like these ones would pay 90 for 20 frame increase
Especially if they will be running 1440p
that’s because most people don’t have the money
were just here to help and give advice and information
lol
Even for people with the money usually a +15% performance increase isnt worth the about +24% price increase.
But that's up to the individual, to some it's worth it and that's fine
.... Sad realization... I might have to use power tools to take apart my build...
There is a broken screw in the Blu-ray player
I'll leave the DVD player for my sister
Any cheap decent white cable extensions
🤔 still don't need such an expensive board, but whatever floats your boat
Looks good
i have an expensive board in the sense of future upgrades such as 2 way sli and more ram
cuz i plan to do rendering for school
Anyone know of a good free virus scanner
I got my computer to work again but it made me type in a code in order to unlock the computer
You'd thing the Ryzen 9 would be beefy enough for the rendering, but what do I know
Thats not my expertise
Annd it crashed
I use bit defender, but that costs money
Maybe a cable mod pre-made kit instead of custom 🤔
Ok it keeps freezing
How long have you had it?
Like 3 years
Oh RIP
What
Either it's breaking down (highly likely) or you have major virus problem (also likely)
Ok
Might be time to take the old girl out to pasture
It’s sad BC I have malware Bytes on my laptop through my school but my PC doesn’t
Damn it froze again
Have you ever cleaned the inside?
Should I put malewarebytes on a usb and copy it onto my PC
No. I have never opened it up. I guess I should do that

oof
Proper PC care my dude now I'm SURE it's hardware failer
Hell I dust mine every few months
Damn ok
And clean the filters
👍
Just ordered more parts for a new itx build
Nice
who else loves mini itx
I'm gonna make a $300 mini itx for homebrew nas
Eventually
Using the new athlon 3000G
that proccesor will be great for that
Really don't need anything more than an athlon, hell that might be overkill xD
But when most decent enough NAS cost $300+ with no drives it seems like a better idea to make my own
Yeah i built one my self using my old parts and some new drives
its the way to go just make sure you use server drives
What is that
He hasn't cleaned out his PC in 3 years so I thought that might be why it's dying
Maybe I was wrong XD
Alienware x51 R3
Could just be dying for the sake of dying
True
Time for an upgrade my dude
Or take it to a repair shop
Or upgrade...
is going for a xeon build over a ryzen one a bad idea? the only problems i see are furture proofing and ddr3
Going for old Xeon is a decent choice for extreme budgets
or apu
Well even old Xeon is cheaper than an APU, you just throw a really cheap GPU and PSU I it cause the rest of the system is like $20-35 bucks XD
Yeah but then you still would need to overhaul later. so i usally stay way from it personally
True
You think I could get a new case and get some new parts and transport the parts from my Alienware into the new case
ive seen some of the old xeons not perform too far off from 9900k
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/8TWcx6 like i just built that for one of my freinds for christmas as a surprise
Those are the higher end ones generally that are still kind of expensive
that is a gpu
Yeah
3GB
Ah ok
i think it was 3 or six but never buy the three they are awful and are at gddr5
or 5x
I mean if you are getting git for $50 sure but 3GB 1060 is out perform by a 1050Ti as soon as the VRAM is saturated
I am more saying most titles suffer from it
Ya think I can take out the optical drive and make more space
imagine complaining about the vram on a 50$ 1060
if i really wanted to i could flip it and get a 1650S
im more saying used market wise a ibelieve 1060 6gb sell for around 70
It's probably fine if you aren't playing anything remotely recent in the AAA tier of game
Optical drive is useless
Hey... To you it is, I got a mountain of weeb discs and star trek to watch
Ok
XD
@polar holly 1060s 6GBs are 150$ used market.
In what area
the U.S
l nah no way. i mean what area of the us
and i assume you are only on craigslist when pulling these numbers many areas have local used market outside of websites.
I dont believe i have ever bought online for used parts
..ok?
just because you use local market doesnt mean nobody would buy it off ebay for 120$
Ok I did a virus scan and nothing came up. The computer also didn’t freeze so I think I’m good
Is 44 FPS in heaven benchmark good?
Hardware?
GTX 970
Grats on your PC all of a sudden coming back to life
Thx
-that's a decent score for the 970
Take better care of it XD
Used to have one
I literally just took out the optical drive and wiggled some things
But I guess sometimes that all it needs
Then maybe a cable came loose
I’m getting a job this summer so that should help
I also might be able to sell the optical drive for like $25-$15
DVD opticals are a dime a dozen almost
We have a mountain of DVD drive e-waste in the shop
They work, but no one wants them, except me
Oh
Blu-ray drives are worth more but still noone wants them
Yep. It’s all digital now
just get a usb one tbh
They're smaller, nicer looking, etc
Usually quieter, as well
But do they burn?
Any know of a good website where I can download some more RAM /s

I was. Did you se the /s
Oh
because that would be a double wammy
Yep
I prefer an in case optical, to me dongle drives look fugly
As long as it's a nice thin one that you can easily hide the cord for
Maybe even case mod and put it inside of the case. Thin and takes less space up, more space for hdd
Ofc you'd have to figure out something for the eject button, if you didn't wanna eject from the button in file manager
I thought a few times about taking my optical dvd drive to my new build
but like, at what cost? What do I do that needs it anymore?
I watched a movie on it once, but even at that my Xbox is hooked up to the TV and plays stuff just fine
A mountain of Weeb discs and the original Star Trek collection... I have a need
lol
I have an instruction set that's on an Arduino robot set I got once that's DVD
but it's also downloadable from their site.
😠 frick
gtg doods
👋
Bye
Hi
How are we doing today ?
Good gonna do 2 builds in just a bit
Awesome !
A case swap and a build in the old case
Anything exciting
Radeon VII and a 3700X
But that's the system that's being case swapped XD
The other is a 1060 6GB and a R7 1700
Awww yizz
Did you get a deal on the proc during the Black Friday sales?
I totally missed out
There’s always next year
Well I got the RAM, PSU for the lower end system and the new case for black friday
Thanks dook
In Cyber Monday i got the HDD for thr lower end system
The rest of the parts I already had
They are my old parts
Yeah I can’t wait to upgrade my i5 3550k
Respectable CPU but doesn't cut it for recent AAA titles
But my the time I upgrade my CPU, my 1080 will be weak sauce.
I can see why you'd want an upgrade
Yeah I’m gonna have to make a real capital investment at some point here and just upgrade everything.
I’ve always tried to do it spending the least amount possible me.
I upgraded my parts over time
As I could afford them
A decent PC is surprisingly affordable if you stretch the costs out over time
It’s not even about being affordable. I’m just cheap. Lol
Not to mention I’ve been really irritated with intel and their price gouging.
I cut my fair share of corners
It’s only as of late that they have competitive prices that even peeks my interests
Their prices might look competitive but their overall value is still bad
I think this is the most opportune time to buy an intel since AMD is putting the squeeze on intel for the short term.
Thoughts and opinions. Gigabyte Z390 Aorus Master or ASUS Maximus XI Hero? It's for an i7-9700KF build
You can get a used i7 87xx for ~$200
I'd prefer the superior performance of a 3700X in the workloads you'd expect for an 8 core
🤔 interesting my new case actually comes with an optional buzer to put a mother board for beep codes
Not gonna use it
Interesting
You'd think that would come with a board not a case lol
I've already sanity checked my temps hundreds of times
The PC puts out sooo much heat it makes me nervous but the temps are fine
I'm just not use to the amount of heat higher quality parts radiate

How I'm removing my Blu-ray Player with a broken off screw... Don't try this at home kids.
For the price, how does that compare to Nvidia?
The price tonperformance was terribad at the start, it's a bit better after almost a year of driver updates... But it's technically discontinued sooo there's that
So support for it will start to dwindle then?
The support is strong, but they are getting harder to find
The 2080 is kinda still the better buy at that price
The main thing the Radeon VII has going for it is it's asinine VRAM solution
They are around the price of 2070 Supers on newegg
It future proofs it for ultra high res textures
You sure you mean the Radeon VII and 2070 super? cause there is a massive price difference between them
Like more than $200 difference
Yeap
So should I get the XFX one instead of a Super or 5700XT?
Holy crap I'm jelly of that price
At that price the VII is the value GPU there
That's the price they needed to be to be more successful
You never need to worry about VRAM again, even if you use 8K texture packs
Nice
Not sure about the FPS with 8K textures but the VRAM can take it XD
How well do they encode for streaming?
I've heard that Radeon's encoding software is janky
Like hot garbage, lean on a Ryzen 7 for encoding
Getting an R9
Even better
With such a high end CPU just use that for encoding over any GPU encoding
AMD has so much potential to punch Nvidia, but they need a stronger software team
The vii is horrible value
Look at the xfx redeon VII on New Egg, it's stupidly underpriced
After the driver updates the VII worked better than you'd expect
And if you like high res textures modding , like really high res VII
It doesn’t look like it’s better at any rendering on the benchmark
Just nbody
Idk what that is
Yes
500 point bump is quite the improvement
My favorite MMO recently went from 60 FPS to 100
I've been seeing lots of optimizations recently
Rtx 2070 super which is cheaper has a 1000 point lead on the VII
Most VII benchmarks would be from before updates and optimizations, took them a while
I mean ot should have been optimized at launch better
But better late than never
The MSRP is still hot garbage, but after the optimizations it's actually not a terrible deal for that XFX
It may not be completely optimal but it's a lot more appealing than it has been
The joke about AMD having fine wine drivers is kinda true here XD
They just need to age a bit lol
Yep
Yea, the XFX is like $150 under MSRP
Though I am only a single user take my sudden massive performance jumps with a grain of salt
I'm just happy I'm finally getting something more worth
I also got $180 of free games with mine Soo I justified it to my self that I was buying a $520 card with some games

This 32" Curved Gaming Monitor offers QHD resolution at 144Hz refresh rate with AMD FreeSync™ technology to eliminate motion blur, frame tearing, and stuttering. The brilliant picture quali
Speaking of monitors
32" is the max size of monitor allowed at the LAN party I go to :o
https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/2890327014345358/ just found this on my local FB marketplace, does it seem like a good deal and should it play most games for a few years to come?
I don't like curved monitors but damn that first one's curve is minimal I could live with it
It’s a i7-7700k it has the specs in the ad
What do you not have ?
For 900 that's not a bad deal overall if you don't have any accessories
I don’t have a PC been wanting to one for a while but haven’t had the $$
That's actually a pretty fair deal
Ah, if you don't have monitors or anything else that's not a bad deal
The PC alone would be meh for that, but the bundle would be hard to beat
Not a bad machine for even high settings 1440p
And some 4K, maybe not in newer titles
I’ve been wanting something that’s gonna be a decent upgrade to the ol’ Xbox one S In terms of performance and that I’m not going to have to upgrade to play games in a year. But I can’t decide if I want to wait for the next gen so prices come down a bit more and just build my own.
That PC will definitely be a lot better than that Xbox
Honestly, that buyndle for $900 will keep you happy for quite a while
It shouldnt need a upgrade for awhile.
Waiting to buy new hardware is always a losing battle
unless you want to
Since XBox games can be played on PC no reason not to get it
only certain ones can be
anything can be played if you try hard enough
Uh, Xbox Game Store has quite a few games in it. There's not a whole lot that can't TBH
That doesnt help at all
I haven't had an optical drive for probably 7 years lol
Then you aren't try hard enough
How’s this
It's a bit of a process to rip games and convert them for legal emulation
But it's doable
yes but most games now are multiplayer titles not allowing that function with a emulator
@trim heron looks good, I'd have to check that monitor cause that price range can get you a really bad monitor if you aren't careful
Well my friend has one and it seems pretty good
He hasn’t had to many problems so far but if you have any suggestions I’d take them
That's a 4ms panel. Might have some ghosting issues in games with a lot of movement
The size is also kinda small, but it's mostly a good panel
It's a decent budget monitor for the ultra low end
Wait so if I own games on Xbox I can play them on PC?
Sometimes
no SSD 😢
can you possibly swing for a 500GB SSD? @trim heron about the same price as the 2TB HDD. then you can add a HDD later for extra storage
Would that be better?
it also depends if he needs that storage.
But if not it would be better to have a ssd
SSD makes a huge difference in how fast a computer feels
also you won't be loading maps for 2 minutes longer than everyone else when you play multiplayer games
It is a nice to have but not a need to have
i guess it's technically only about 3x faster
it also depends on the type if it is nvme or sata
NVMe is like another 5x faster it's nuts
think it's like 175MB/s for HDD, 500MB/s for SATA, 2000MB/s for NVMe
2000-3000MB/s
depends
gen4?
gen 4 pcie
ah i didn't realize there were drives using it yet, damn
yeah they came out almost instantly as x570 dropped
I run one as a boot drive and a game drive
It's not just bandwidth, it's also seek times. Virtually non-existent
oh true
accurate. i would never reccomend one unless they have a massive budget but its amazing
once you include seek times aren't SSDs like 10x faster than HDD?
WIth how cheap SSD's are now, there is literally no reason not to have one
$25 for a Samsung 250gb
i mean gen4 pcie nvme drives
Even those are fairly affordabe
i believe 1tb is 200+
it's about 50% more, comparing corsair gen3 to gen4 1TB drives
just make sure it has cooling on it or it will throttle the drive
$125 for gen3 TLC drive, $185 for gen4 TLC drive
But still, HDD compared to any SSD is poo
Of course
I have a 4 TB internal drive for storage, 8TB external USB 3 for backup
But I also have 3TB of SSD lol
i'm on 1Gb fiber and i don't keep a movie library or anything, so i don't even have a use for my HDDs anymore
ah, yeah that'll do it
yeah i am at 3tb of nvme storage and my nas. I will alawys have a need for them as backups
i dont trust any drives
My MX500 OS drive is starting to age, time to replace it soon
i would use my HDD for backup but I don't have a 3.5" bay
i replaced mine just recently when i was doing a replacement of my cpu. I dont keep any in my tower. as that isnt a backup its still just storage
backups i always want seperated from the users
true
Or a NAS box
yeah they are nice to have. and can be made for decently cheap outside of the drives
i built mine out of parts that i have upgraded out of
apart from buying true nas drives
which are a must
yeah
I pikced up the 8 TB External for like $130 on a super sale
yeah i have l have 24 tb backup nas. i think in new parts it was 600
i guess i could get a 2 bay nas and drop my old HDD in it for now, then eventually get a couple drives 2-4TB drives and put them in RAID in it
just make sure you are getting server grade drives if your building a nas
yeah
like heres what i run
mind only new parts that are for it are the drives
ohh and theres a 256gb ssd in there
damn, you already upgraded out of an 8700k? that's what's in main build still
in my*
Its a badass cpu but i got a free 9900k from my work for holiday bonus
nice
my holiday bonus was not getting laid off, they just laid off like half our office
yeah i hear that often and its always terrible. i am lucky as our workshop is 6 people when it should be like 20
what software are you running the NAS with? i'm tempted to get a Synology NAS just because the software looks so great
i see
We used to have freenas before and it was also good
I did it, used a used a grinder to flatten the broken screw and pull out the optical, again "Kids, Don't try this at home"
the screws that come with some components these days are scary cheap
You know you are either doing it very wrong or very right when power tools come into play in PC building
😂
like MSI monitors, i think the screws they use are literally made of cheese
i haven't put together an MSI monitor without chowdering at least one screw head before
The screw head completely snapped off this Blu-ray player
did you put it in with power tools too or something? 😂
A grinder was the only solution
And no, just a manual screw driver lol
But since it was in I didn't care fornlike a year
But now I have to care cause I'm case swapping
And I'm not buying a new Blu-ray player
thankfully i was too young when disks were a thing to bother buying any
so i haven't had a disk drive in like 8 years
maybe only 5 idk
just moved my computer into a meshify C last week so i couldn't even if i wanted to now
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TwEOvTNtwO0 this is safe?
This is a video on how to modify your computers AIO (all in one) water cooler! I mostly show how to change the tubes on them because that is a process the majority of AIOs have in common. Having clear tubes means you can see the water in the system, and if you dye it a cool ...
my aios hella basic so if i could spice it up a lil then
¯_(ツ)_/¯
Hey guys quick question. I restarted my PC but my monitors are not coming on
I'm what to do
@stark siren i like the destiny ghost shell above your pc in #build-pics. the original vanguard shell
I would not wish building in this case on anyone... But I did it, it's a snug fit for all my parts and a Blu-ray drive
Like absolutely no chearence left for many of the parts
Build in the inwin a1
Stupid case. The Qi charger didn’t even work
RMA a case that took forever to build in because the only cool feature it had didn’t work.
I'm never buying a compact mid tower again
I don’t know what case I’ll build in next. I kind of want to just start building my own
Thanks @winged hollow
got myself a tower now I just need hardware
i won a 2700x ryzen amd on amd twitch stream an hour ago what mb should i get? MSI? asrock?
Get the asrock deskmini!
my dad thinks the components I have attatched weigh too much for my motherboard so he told me to have it laying down all the time
Done with the 2nd build of the day, far easier to do
okay i just bought a bolster for $12 lol
You're supposed to use anime figures to hold up your GPU
Since my case is now shorter from front to back I had take off the top half of my GPU stand of and stick in ontop of the harddrive cage
Hope my thermals stay decent in the smaller case
🤔
I'll have to play some BDO
the stock cooler is fine on Ryzen
K
just not really good for overclocking, especially on 2nd gen
K
🤔 my GPU seems to be running significantly cooler in the smaller case, I hope it stays that way with longer play
4 degrees cooler so far, that's pretty good
How do I fix so that the temp isn’t 80c and the gpu isn’t 97
reapply thermal paste if you haven't in a while
got a pic of the build?
What processor?
What GPU?
What cooling method?
Way too little information here
What load is that running also?
What fans you running in that case?
2 Cool master 1 roweel fans and 1 other idk
Size? Configuration?
a picture would help
120m and 3 intake 1 outtake
seriously
Air is stalling in the case, you need 2 in and two out at least
If you only have 4
Look like that
The top one you have as an intake?
Yes
3in? please flip that top fan to out, thatss your problem
YAS
Ok out that it?
Should help a ton
yea flip it around
Ya, so it's blowing OUT instead of IN
Hot air rises, get that hot air out of the case
Ah make sense
surprisingly using a different case has me between 2 and 7 degrees cooler, only thing changed was the case XD
Plus you've got too much positive pressure with three blowing in and only one out. The air is just staying in the case.
hot air rises, you are pushing it back down
not much, finished my 2 builds 😄
im just downloading everything
I'm quite happy with the look and surprisingly the new thermals of my main
What is your current build
kinda sad that even with 2 optical bays there is no clearance for a 2nd optical, it would but right up against the MB power
Upgrade that GPU first
I would upgrade either the gpu or mobo
I'd ssay Mobo
mobo
motherboard
your just going to need to upgrade it before you can upgrade your cpu
an*
o.o BDO is sitting at 70C on the GPU... it was 78C in the last case
I love this case
it sucks to build in, but it's a good case
BDO is a bank in our place
is that underload
wait
I would never use a hybrid drive personally
should i upgrade my storage first?
my laptop had a hybrid... was not fun
Oh rly
im only sitting on 500gb
SSd's are $25. Get a large HDD for storage if you have to and then get a 250gb SSD
it doesnt have enough cache ssd to hold most games or anything else so its just as bad as a hdd for more money
Hybrid drive jsut means there is an SSD cache, and it's sooo small it's constantly refilled, meaning REALLY slow load times overall
how can i test my pc?
get the free version of 3D Mark
Okay
your better going with a ssd boot drive and a hdd mass store drive
Do you think I should just get like a 500 gn ssd
Gb*
And then later on get a hard drive
where?
What happens when you have all outtake
no air movement
that would be a good idea. do you have a part list.
@jaunty karma on steam look up 3DMark, then fnd the Download Demo button on the right
Yah hold on
that's a nice PC test
I have a amazon list and pc part picker
depending on the case some are made for positive pressure others are made for nuteral nut negative isnt to advised
link the partpicker one
what budget do you have
is six case fans overkill?
I use 5 case fans, so no
i have 12 in one build so no
im very happy with my build 😄
that Aero Cool, looks like it will be Aero ON FIRE....
dude i needed a 20 meter lan cable for my pc
HORRIBLE airflow
Got any better cases
Rakk Hunit
around $40
jsut built in it
building in it SUCKS, but it's cheap and has good air flow for the price
cooler master?
though it will need a few extra fans
I think my new build has decent cable management... just don't take of the back panel, takes an army to cram it back on XD
Wait
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/v7ckf9 @trim heron
tahs a littler more well rounded
Oh I’ll check that out
Best mouse pad
hey I used a chess board as a mouse pad for 5 years
I built my own for a long while
Ok well do you think I can get away with only 500 gb for a while
Or should I do what you put on the list
nah if you only need 500gb do that
13$
got mine for $30
looks good
if you're looking to upgrade later on, a 550w power supply won't be enough
id get at least a 650w
what GPU?
it's like all my pain and suffering about building in it was worth it
Radeon VII
was running at like 78C in the game before
oh, yeah that's cool for a 300W card
what would you change and what case do you choose for this build? https://pcpartpicker.com/list/LTWrMc
i had to run my case in negative pressure just to get my 2070 down to 70C full load
who knew a smaller more compact case would give me better thermals, it looks MORE restrictive
lol
it's the EVGA xc ultra+ though, it's way overclocked so it generally runs hot
yeah this meshify C has been pretty restrictive but mainly cause i have a 280 rad in front
i think it could do fine in positive pressure if i had the radiator on the exhaust
so the GPU could get more fresh air in
cause right now it's relying on the negative pressure to suck air in the holes in the back of the case to give the GPU enough air
my wifi sucks T^T
i like how with my glass side panel you can just see the optical drive jutting into the top XD
it's the odd thing out in the PC lol
any game suggestions\
Reason: Bad word usage
game suggestions for crappy wifi?
terraria, that's cheap and fun
use wired on your PC XD
hi everyone
Im getting a warning on startup that my cpu fan is failing and may cause overheating
isnt that what he just said
im trying to find the correct replacement fan onnewegg. but do you think i might need an entire cooler?
What cooler do you have now?
pic of the cooler?
not sure. it came stock on my hp desktop pc
Is this a good $1000 ish build?
CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 2700
Motherboard: MSI B450 Tomohawk
Memory: Corsair Vengence 16 gb (2 x 8gb)

i7 6700t 2.8ghz
@steep elbow what Mhz does your ram have?
i recommend to change your power supply to CMX
-For the price of that super get a 5700XT. Better performance. RTX is poo on the 2060
I'm guessing 5700xt is better for VR as well
can i just change the fan or do i need the entire cooler?
cant get to it to shoot a pic
are u using a phone?
no im typing on my laptop unfortunately
that explains it
Without knowing what the cooler looks like or what size the fan is, we can't really help
Could be 80mm, 120mm or stock intel fan
it looks pretty simple from my memory. sqare with fins fan on top of that
There's 80mm, 90mm and 120mm
gotcha
so i need to find out the meaurement and replace as needed
Case fan has 3 pins and mb has 4
Can I still use it? Or do I need to put it in a certain way
@twin hare for the price of that 2060 go 5700XT. Trust me, I own a 2060 lol
As for a case, get something that you want to look at. With at least 4 fans
can you guy suggest a good editing build that wont break the bank? under 1000? possible?
editing 4k foootage and not major rendering
like what i dont know nothing about cases @muted patio
NZXT makes nice cases, as does Lian Li
@topaz mauve the MB has 4 pins because the 4th pin is for PWM control of fans. 3 pin fans work on the same header but just don't use the 4th pin
they are keyed so they go in the right way
make a note of which header you put it in because you'll want to go into the BIOS and set that fan to voltage control instead of PWM since it's 3 pin
looks like an ASUS board, the best ones are CHA_FAN headers
So don't use the 4th from the bottom or 4th from the top @indigo thicket?
it will only fit one way, but it'll be the top pin that won't be used
can i stream on my pc?
got it thanks
can my pc handle streaming?
you can stream on almost any PC if you've got the upload bandwidth
oki
if you want to stream a game it'll depend on the game ofc
... that's just untrue
i've seen people stream 720p from laptops just fine
if your hardware is too weak to encode and game at the same time you will have a very bad time streaming
yeah, but he wasn't specific
Rainbow6?
streaming shooters is pretty demanding
depends on the Shooter
no idea what kind of load R6 is XD
CSGO will run on a potato, that's easily streamable with Software encoding
MOST of these titles will be fine with software encoding on a ryzen 5
you'll need to do a test to see if your internet can keep up as well, you need a high bitrate for shooters
use the x264 encoder in OBS with minimum 6000 Kb/s and you should do fine
if your internet keeps up
Is streamlabs ok?
Why is my gpu 98?
Amd
@shut rampart did you swap that fan around to be an out fan?
Yes
The cooler is good but the gpu is bad
Use to be 85 during game and now 70 during games
Helped a lot but idk why gpu is dying
How do i know if its in or out
@shut rampart your GPU seems to be in the 60s on temp
Is that good?
it's very good
that number on the left is not temp, that's % of the GPU processing being used
My fans are spinning counter clock wise
Ok but I don’t want to use all of it
Suppose to use all of it?
yes
OOOH I’m dumb
telling it to use less is basically limiting the frame rate
But my eyes cant handle it
it's the catchup and mustard cables XD
Size itself is decent. Tho fin density, heatpipe quality, direct contact with heatpipe, and fan quality are all unknowns to me cuz you didnt really specify the coolers
is an AIO better than Air Cooler for CPUs?
compatibility and looks yes, price no, performance same (depending on cooler)
to get aio performance on an air cooler youre gonna be sacrificing looks a LOT
air coolers are just so ugly
imo
depends on the application. air coolers can look pretty neat in a horizontal case (like a thermaltake core series for instance)
an aio would look pretty awkward in my case for instance
but other than that, what zack said
tho i should also mention longevity. air coolers can last a lifetime as the heatsink itself has no moving parts and fans can be changed very easily
So, I just installed a new motherboard (MSI MEG x570 ACE) and a new CPU (Ryzen 9 3900x). Is it normal for this setup to run a MemTest86 on first boot or did it detect something wrong with my RAM or CPU and it's preemptively checking to make sure everything is good?
Which cpu? 9700k or 3800x for streaming/ editing/ gaming
Dumb question:
Forgot to add my gpu cable for my power supply, and I'm using a rtx 2060 super FE
There's no slots on my PSU that say for the gpu specifically
It’s the 6+2 pcie
Okay, so I'm using another 8 pin psu cable right?
And the side that has the splitting of the 8 pin into a 2x4 is the side that'll go to the gpu right?
No I’m 75% sure that the 6+2 side is the one that goes into the gpu
Some wires say in on them or you could just look in the manual
all the manual says is safety hazards lol XD
Oof
I would put the 2x4 Into the psu
Don’t take my word because I’ve never build a pc before but that’s just my knowledge
Whoah dud you're still building!?!?!?!?!?
I had to stop to go to work today
VG279?
Yeah the boxes look the same XD
Are I using an aio or air cooler also what cpu do u have
Ryzen 5 3600, Cooler master 212 black edition
$1400
1400 for the entire setup including monitors and other things
I already have a monitor and a mouse so the only other peripherals I need is a keyboard
If you're looking for a good, rigid full keyboard, highly recommend the hyper x alloy origins
Rn I’m planning on the redragon k555 indrha
Indrah*
What mb are u using
Rn I’m planning on the ASRock steel legend but idk
Asus tuf x570 wifi
I was looking at that one for a bit
Not very much storage
Ik
I’m getting 1 TB and then planning on upgrading
Personally idk how I would feel with only 500Gb
I had issues on PS4 with space and pc files are much larger
So should I get a 1 tb ssd?
I would
The western digital 1 TB m.2 is a good one
U can get an hard drive if u want
Personally
I like to stick with SSD however
Fastest and more reliable
I don’t have my pc yet I should in a few months but I just have done way to much research before hand
Thanks
I’m going for a higher end than u are so it’s gonna be a bit longer wait for me
Yah lol
Use the link dont put pcitures
Getting high idle temps I believe. 3900x with a h115i PRO AIO. Using AS5. Sitting between 49-60c
cleaned and reapplied paste also
Pump at 100%?
I've got the EVGA CLC 360 and sit at 30C idel
Idle
Should be lower
Have the icue set at extreme. That's all the control I have
should i get the i9 9900k or the ryzen 7 3800x instead
plan on gaming and streaming
Between those two, the 9900K is the better processor
Should be compared with the 3900x
should i get the 3900x or 9900k then
Can someone make me a build for about 1100 USD - for gaming ? ty
I have no preferences except that I do want an ssd as boot drive and at least 16 gb of ram
Anyone good videos on how to build a pc? Recenty received all my parts.
The verge made a decent video
Hmmm my friends warned me not to watch that one.
Ok tysm.
