saying "you just need better than recommended"
There's a lot of data missing here, I don't want people to get the wrong idea lol
it's not wrong, but it's also not telling anywhere near the full story
pretty sure my 1700x is way faster than a 4th gen i5 lol
You know the funny thing is my 2600 is 3% better than your 1700x lol
define faster
single core
1700x absolutely bodies a 2600 and any 4th gen in multi
but, 1st gen wasnt really known for their single core performance
1700x absolutely bodies a 2600 and any 4th gen in multi << this
But also, even a 2nd gen i5 (2500k) oc'd to 5.0 can wreck in many use cases
i think stock 1st gen ryzen is about on par with stock 6th gen intel IPC, yeah?
Idk, hard to compare IPC as people usually do - I'd instead look at what real performance one can expect out of running x chip at y settings/environment based on preference and use case
well, just general perfomrance of like, a R5 1600 gets about the same gaming perfomrance as something like an i5 6500
i'd say that's reasonably accurate in my experience
my friend with a 1700 was seeing similar FPS to me with my old 6700k
i think? he had a 1700, i would have to double check
True - the exceptions being rare cases of users who want to run fast XMP/OC memory
same GPU at the time
Also 6th gen is the last intel chips that can bclk non-k models >103 MHz
(which makes them overpriced used to casual consumers sometimes)
oh really? i had an i5 6500 on a Z170 board
sold it the other day
could have OC'ed it
XD
7th gen is worse - I have no idea how a 7700k usd can be worth $225 easy, sometimes 250 on ebay
Lol ya - I forgot you actually did @ me about that somewhere - I had mentioned 6th gen at the time due to one of the hwbot country cup benches being reference clock / cpu
i bet it's just cuz a lot of people don't cross shop, and someone told them "hey go get this part because it'll be cheap" and just trusted them at their word
and maybe sometimes people don't even bother checking what they can get that's brand new for not much more
just thinking because it's used they're automatically going to be saving a lot of money compared to buying new
@latent bronze mines overclocked to 3.9ghz regular its 3ghz so probably not
i had a i5 7600k overclocked to 5ghz and my 1700x at 3.9ghz is definately faster i can tell the difference. my games dont even use half my cpu
plus my i5 was just a 4 core 4 thread
im saving up for and waiting on intel 10 gen ill buy a i7 of that one
9th gen stuff is going to look really compelling when 10th gen comes out tbh
i don't expect 10th gen to be some huge generational leap in performance, and when it releases 9th gen will drop in price
not significantly, sure
not like AMD has been doing
yeah that is more of what i was getting at
lulwut
no, you were not being hyperbolic
they are over $300
7700k @ $315, 9700k @ $339
yeah, like i said, you can still go buy new 7700k's for $300+, intel doesnt drop their prices on parts or tell resellers to drop their prices after a new launch
like with the i5 8400
i guess when it's pretty much the same silicon
with the i5 8400, they didnt drop the price on the new ones, but they released the i5 9400f, and it was a lower price
i hadn't really looked in some time
i just recall that when i was looking at my 6700k, microcenter was having blowout sales on haswell cpus
and i was really compelled to get one but didn't end up doing it
guess i extrapolated that too far lol
😢 I just got an E-mail from RaidMax an my tower is Discontinued 😢
Alright ya I need a Idea for a whole new Case an it has to be a ATX Mid tower.
What type of cooling you looking to do @little osprey
Give me a Sec
@polar holly https://pcpartpicker.com/list/B2fCzN
I would like the same as the case I have but I cant find any an to get a New Case its gonna be a tight budget due to X-Mas coming up
@polar holly I was looking at this but im not sure --> https://www.newegg.com/black-raidmax-vortex-v4-atx-mid-tower/p/N82E16811156317
whats wrong with your current case
@polar holly There is a Cunk that was broken off the front an the top right side where my Liquid Cooling is at is missing a pin to hold the top in place an is making the power button not work right
For the New DOOM an Fable HD an i will not mess with intel GPU at all cause in the past i have blown through 13 chip set's
So I will only go for AMD
I was thinking a ryzen but makes sense if you want to avoid ryzen aswell
ryzen is a AMD
I really hate being on a budget
What you mean secound Hand
Are you buying it used from someone
No I brought my AMD NEW
No the graphics card
I have a 2600
No its was NEW I paid full price
Did u build ur pc already?
That would make a lot of sense if u did, I thought u were going to build one
@stark meteor ---> https://pcpartpicker.com/list/B2fCzN these are my Parts I have an they where all new when I brought them
Yeah I thought you didnt have any of the parts and were going to buy them
My bad
Kinda confused things up
LOL its all good it wont let me change them to brough
@latent bronze
There's 3 of the top pic
I can't seem to find anywhere they'd rationally for
Fit
What is on the other end of that
Idk, it's run through the whole case
one is Sata and the other is a fan header
@latent bronze can you send me build without speakers
Tyry
Monitor would be good for you cause 144hz is what most gamers would want
Ok so I think I can just tuck them away
Joe in every system there will always be some extra cables laying around
Since both fans I have installed are already plugged into the mobo
Yeah just confused bc my friend gave me the case like this
@worthy terrace Just letting you know for Nvidia video cards it is usually better to go with EVGA
Okiee
which is why i included it in the build
RGB strips or RGB fans
that system is using RGB light strips
@worthy terrace This is how you can one up on your boyfriend https://www.newegg.ca/rosewill-rgbf-s12003-case-fan/p/N82E16835200126
Ooooo
Ill show you what those fans are like
You can do solid colors as well but that is just to make it all flashy

Ooo
For those fans you can see from the link there is a controller to control the fan speeds and also the colors
anyone have time to talk to me about rig building? i need to build 2 rigs, one for gaming and one for rendering
if you have time, dm me
just ask here
i rather talk to someone through DMs cause i dont want to flood the chat with loads of questions
that's literally what it's here for lol
sigh i know i just hate being annoying
i, for one, will not be annoyed
After rebate the savings is only $5 anyway but I was curious
sigh alright ill ask. anyone know a good rig for both gaming and rendering but using gpu rendering. i dont want to spend like at least over 3k if at all possible.
ok when i mean 3k i meant thats my cutoff line
if i have to go over i can but i really dont want to lol
3k all in including monitors? or just 3k on the guts
just the parts
you can build a super nice rig for 3k.
yes
not the monitors etc
you really cfan lol
3k just the PC.
unless you need intel for some reason, a 3950x is probably going to be your solid choice but i'll throw something together
isnt that cpu?
3950x is top dog right now
but what about being gpu rendering
sorry if i sound anoying i apologize
you're not being annoying
i ask sometiems to o many questions
Stop being so insecure lol
better to ask a lot of questions especially if you're spending three large
true
asking questions is learning.
im surprised i havent heard the saying only stupid question is the one not asked
man honestly it's overwhelming right now, especially for people who are just starting to dip their toes into building computers
only stupid questions are the ones not asked
thing is what i want to try to avoid with this next build is having dust problems
there, happy? :p
lol box
i got a case i used that was NOT good for my dust situation in my house
i lost a hybrid cooler cause of it
had to replace it
you'll never avoid dust, but with the right case + filters.. it's easy to maintain.
you lost the hybrid cooler cause you didn't maintain it 😛
im also moving my computer over to a room with hard wood floor
true
i probably didnt take good care of it
what about maintanance?
poop, i pull mine apart once a week and hit it with duster
i am sure my walmart thinks i'm
walking on sunshine
oops
yeah that much cleaning better to invest in a small compressor
can of air expensive,.
how many times should i do maintenance on it box?
i buy in bulk
depends on how dusty it is.
what do you mean "maintenance?" dust it whenever you see dust building up
i know that
they're pretty maintenance free
i mean like making sure things are kept in good shape
ie if i get liquid cooling
as an example
arent*
NO do not do that please
i have a air compressor
electric duster just as good as can
i have a small one so im good on that
82 dollars ? hahaha
you don't want that near your computer lol
i just need to clean it more than i have
o please
air compressor best way.
neat
just make sure you have something to keep the fans from spinning, you don't want to overspin them, especially the psu
when i clean yeah
i was told that by a buddy of mine
cause it could overload the psu being not on
so do you have a color scheme in your room you're trying to not conflict with?
so i try to keep them still while i clean
or i unhook the cables
so they dont use on the psu
cuz let's find you a nice case too lol
i usually hold the fanblade with one hand while i air blow around them so they dont spin
this one i have wasnt a good choice
what do you have now
its a corsair cube case
it wasnt a good choice. it only had One filter
and even that wasnt doing good
https://www.newegg.com/p/N82E16811147298 I use this and i have no dust issues and i am also a smoker
im hoping moving this to the wood floor room will help
cause im in a room with carpeting
eh
dust filter is under the case as well
which is usually bad for a pc with dust problems
can confirm, my pc was worse downstairs on hardwood than it is upstairs on carpet
right now the dang pc is on the carpet
eeh
hardwood collects a lot :p
it's fine, just not the most ideal
well its easier than carpeting
I'm on hardfloor, but my pc sits on a end table
like, i prefer hardwood for everything other than the fact it's really dusty
getting dush off of carpet is a PITA
so it aint sitting directly on the floor.
yeah i got 2 dogs
lol
that dont help matters lol
I have one.
uhh i dont mind it
assume for 3k you can make it function well, and look nice.
lol
i was told by someone in this discord when he asked why 2 rigs, i was getting tired of wear and tear but he mentioned if i take good care of it, use good virus protection and clean drives once a month or whatever, having one rig for gaming and rendering isnt bad
he just said make sure you have big drives for storage
lol
i know the one drive that is in this current build is getting retired. its like 5+ years old
its a 4tb drive but its on its last leg i bet
That almost sounds like zack's advice 🤔
well i game quite a bit but the main problem with storage is all the 3d files
some can get pretty big
i mean like not HUGE but if you have many, the numbers start adding up
i may invest in an external hard drive too
that way my files are not just on my pc but kept somewhere else too
Would be cheaper getting this https://www.newegg.com/rosewill-rx234-dock/p/N82E16817182145
can easy swap out hard drives than using like a lot of externals
not necessary, you will have way more than enough room to put as many SSDs as you will ever need inside
Yes but if he is just backing up files you wouldn't need more SSD's if it is just backing up
yeah for 3d work i like to have backup files
i'd imagine it would be way easier and convenient to just use cloud storage...
if you do that for work, your employer will probably want you to have backups in their cloud anyway
I have a bunch of hard drives which i back up all of my files and also if something was to happen like a power outage or something like the internet went down how will he get his files back if on the cloud
it's just a solution looking for a problem, if you're swapping out drives all the time then yeah it makes sense but
YUGE
If also using 2.5" drives you could have this for bringing into work https://www.newegg.com/orico-2139u3-bk-enclosure/p/0VN-0003-000Z5
that one is out of stock but ill try to look for one like it
I am mainly just dropping examples of what to look for
But i need one of those docks because i have a lot of hard drives i use for backing up and i am also using like a ghetto like dock which is just an enclosure without the casing
Something like this without the case https://c1.neweggimages.com/ProductImageCompressAll1280/A90R_1_20170504791922974.jpg
gotcha
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/
So I'm looking to replace the video card on my list. Any suggestions?
that's not what you need to link
huh?
Reason: Bad word usage
i would get a different cooler, and if you haven't bought that monitor yet, don't
don't bother getting a 60hz panel with that card
what do you want to do with the video card? get a better one? find a cheaper 5700xt?
i heard that specific one has a tendancy to overheat so i figured I should get one that runs cooler
that one actually comes pretty highly recommended from some people i trust pretty highly https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FQJCm7bnOfU
Sapphire's RX 5700 XT Pulse is significantly improved over the reference card. We'll bench temperatures, noise levels, and gaming. Sponsor: Go to https://Nor...
is this the same one? Someone in here linked me this and told me not to go with ithttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OJU8jKIYtS4
Support us on Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/hardwareunboxed Merch: http://crowdmade.com/hardwareunboxed Radeon RX 5700 XT - https://amzn.to/2Js33xB Radeon...
no, the video card you sent me on that list is the sapphire pulse
the motherboard in the list you sent me above is an asus TUF motherboard
so in your opinion does that build look fine then?
uh
i meant the cooler is wack
and i presume you have that monitor on that list because it's the monitor you already have?
okay
I techincally have a tv i was gonna use but Ican always just run out and buy one
it's not a priority for me atm
that video card will be wasting a lot of its strength if you're not using a high refresh rate monitor
if you're not going to do that, or don't want to bother, then you're spending a lot of money you won't be using
so i should get a different monitor too then?
i would do that, or get a less powerful video card
do you have monitor/cooler reccommendations?
I don't know if I'd go above 2k
ok let me see what i can whip up
i'll get back to you in an hour or two
need lunch now
for sure
Just use a pancake air compressor
Just either use a air dryer or purge the condensate first
@little osprey did you happen to take a look at that list?
So here is more or less everything I am looking at getting for my new comp. I know I can find some of these cheaper, but for simplicity sake I just used Newegg for all. Ideas? Suggestions?
PCPartPicker Part List: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/mZ6gtp

Total: $2350.87
that 3900x is about 10% higher than msrp
Yeah, I've found it as low as 500, but those were either in-store only prices or sold out online.
and i would just get a 1 tb 970 evo and maybe a 2 tb slightly cheaper nvme drive instead of 2 ssd'
Okay so 1 SSD and upgrade the nvme to a 2tb?
well i'd keep the 1 tb 970 evo, but replace the 860 evo's with a different drive
idk much about ssd's @little osprey knows a lot
k
Honestly, as long as my OS, OBS and such are on the nvme, having my games on a regular HD is not going to really affect anything right?
yeah, but ssd's are getting pretty cheap and much faster. its smart to get a large ssd
Okay. I think Newegg has a sale on the 860's a 2tb for 240 USD
yeah even that would be 40 less than buying 2 of the 1 tb ones
Yeah
Oh, nice build, ya, I'd go 970 pro 's for new on ebay tbh. Better yet - go 280 GB 900p optane new $200-220.
Then pick up 970 evo's, SX8100's, or other similar equivalents for bulk storage and program drives.
Use wsusoffline + powershell /chocolatey scripts to install + maintain images and you're set
Okay, I am not computer illiterate, but you just hit a whole new level that I'm like "the hell did he say? Was that even English?" 😂
This is the best deal on ddr4 by $20 ... ever. I have a kit myself, worried how many I'll pick up before the sale ense. https://www.newegg.com/team-16gb-288-pin-ddr4-sdram/p/N82E16820313712
I already have the ram. Snagged it for 140 or 150, I'd have to check the invoice
lol
I've posted that link like 4 times today, it's just a good deal. I don't plan to link hunt for the rest, nor do I expect people to take my picks as word of law lol.
look for R/W for read and write speed
kk
gives me something to do when you have 6"+ of snow outside and it's still falling. lol
So other than HD's the rest of the build looks good?
yeah, you could save some money with cheaper ram but u probably like the looks of it
oh and one last thing, you can get windows keys for like $5-15 on tons of website, they work very well
Definitely bookmarking that, thanks, good reference to look up which drives are effecitvely clones, same controller, dram cache, etc
its NewMaxx's one, should be decent but its a month old so might need some changes
Definitely will.
Yeah I like the looks of it. Not going too crazy with the RGB, just enough to give it some life. Instead of just being drab grey/black/monochrome
anyone have any reccommendations for a better cooler than this?
https://pcpartpicker.com/product/Nkvbt6/scythe-choten-tuf-gaming-alliance-5117-cfm-cpu-cooler-scct-1000tuf
do you know exactly why the one I had listed is so bad?
well its not bad, but they're are better ones out there
apparently I also need a "higher refresh rate" moniter
the one i liked has an option for a second fan, and a much larger fin area to help move the heat
okay sweet
can you take a gander at my build overall? The things I was most worried about were the video card temperatures and the afforementioned monitor thing
why is the death adder $237?
I'm not sure tbh but I've already got a mouse and I was only really planning on picking up the keyborad out of all of those acsessories
oh ok
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/q4gcTC i changed some things, and i'd recommend trying to see if you can find this on sale for around this price if you want a solid 1440p 144hz monitor https://www.reddit.com/r/buildapcsales/comments/dz99u2/monitor_dell_27_gaming_monitor_s2719dgf_1440p_155/
dang, saved me a fair bit, danke
yeah, i also removed the mouse so its like $240 cheaper than without it
so it makes it look much more cheaper, but i did change some parts out
yeah I see. All the ones you chose were cheaper tho which is good imo
yeah, tried to find equal performing parts for a little bit less
yeah
sweet
144hz is a pretty big improvement over 60hz, but 155-240hz aren't super big game changers
a lot of them should be on sale for black friday, but you should buy that monitor when it goes on sale close to that when its sale before it sells out or increases price
okay for sure
also should i buy from either amazon or newegg or just pick and choose wherever I can find things cheaper?
come black friday/cyber monday that is
amazon avoid newegg unless pixio
newegg has a bad dead pixel policy
What is it?
if it has less than 8 dead pixels you can't return the monitor
Punch it so it has more
ikr
Its actually the industry standard. Manufacturers are bound by the count and distance as well. Not sure who set that up to begin with though.
Ik
@dense agate is becoming the next beast in #build-pics
oh, they already got deals on amazon it seems like
is the ryzen 7 2700 better than the 5 3600?
yes
it comes with the wraith stock cooler
I wouldn't need it if I'm planning on buying one already, right?
ah, okay
you still will get it regardless it just comes with i recommend getting a better one regardless
if you want to upgrade to a better one in the future thats fine, but they include the "stock" cooler which is the default that comes with a particular cpu
okay I getchu
usually stock is fine unless you wanna OC
^
so I should go with the 5 3600?
Well its ryzen so you should always get a better cooler seing as its built for pco
ye its a good cpu
thats a good idea
but I think the deals compound if you have honey or wikibuy
I was saving an additional 12% on the one I found even with the deal
3600
Hey, anyone know if the EKWB flat resaviour/Distro block will fit in the spot between the front of the PSU shroud and front panel of the corsair obsidian 500D RGB case ? With a 360mm EK Rad in the front panel ?
question to anyone. if you sli cards together for rendering purposes, can you turn one off for gaming purposes or no?
I don't think it works that way.,
Hey I’m looking at buying this build for rust mainly could someone look it over for me and tell me if it’s a good deal or not?
Just @ me
@here
So with the shortage of the Ryzen 9 3800x I am looking at going back to Intel. I do, do things like After Effects, Sony Vegas, Sound Forge, etc. So is the core increase worth sacrificing multi-threading? Comparing 9700k to the 9900k?
3800X is Ryzen 7 is it not 🤔
But he said Ryzen 9 3800X
probably mistype
Hi guys can someone help me with my build? I'm currently looking to upgrade my ram, and I currently have a i7 8700 CPU but my ram says (ForAMD) should I still use it or should I switch it out before something goes wrong?
What type of ram ie speed timings and amount
It works for both AMD and Intel
no its fine the speed is what is advied for amd it is fine for either type of processor
Thank god, I thought I messed up.
Yes, meant 3900x
There are some 3900x on newegg atleast as of this morning
https://www.newegg.com/amd-ryzen-9-3900x/p/N82E16819113103 3900X doesn't look to be out of stock
They were sold out as of this afternoon.
We were chatting about it earlier in gen chat.
I guess they got some more in stock.
Are you sure you were looking at sold and ship by newegg or from a market place seller
Only Sold and Shipped by
There were only two listings for that proc and both were from Newegg.
yeah i have seen what your talking about sometimes it says sold out but it isnt. i have no clue as to why.
imo if you're doing video editing stuff i'd get a 3900x
I'm not into it heavily. Getting back into it, along with After Effects
Reason: Bad word usage
i agree
Remember to turn your phone sideways when filming Purge, errr I mean Black Friday insanity 😂
lol funny
4k hat mounted GoPro would be best
never going to walmart during black friday
unless you wanna fight people to show how strong you are
lmao
i will shop online 🙂
Just taser people. Less hazardous to your health. Or, just shop online in your PJ's with a cup of coffee
bro thats messed up no thanks
What the coffee or tasering people 😂
anyone been to a microcenter during blackfriday?

Okay pulling the trigger on an i7-9700k for 324 shipped. Anyone have any better ideas speak now. Please?
wait
?
nvm best deal atm
Even beats New Eggs BF ad
nearest is 8hrs away
i wanna pull the trigger on a mobo and 9600k, but i cant until next friday :c
anyone running a ASUS Prime Z390-A?
Not I. Looking around for a good mb right now. Not finding much with good raitings
from what i heard of, asus mobos are the best
Anybody able to help me figure out what I need for TB3 connectivity?
I haven't been keeping up with the tech over the past few years. I built an i5-4690k with a GTX980 5 years ago and that's been the last time I kept up with the advancements in CPUs and such. I was looking at an i9 processor, but I have read that AMD's Ryzen processors are better bang for your buck. What's the general feeling about one of these over another?
amd is by far the best performance to dollar
CPU's yes but GPU's i don't know
i don't know
When you have new GPU's out there like the 1650S that performs like a RX 580/590 i would say that would be better
how much does the 1650s cost?
150$ - 160$
hm
well
still, the best budget option is probably an rx570
for mid range
mid to high
mid
But you're always sitting
it is still strong but with more and more demanding games coming out it doesn't look all that great
no zack is always running from the back pains he will have in the future
mkay
well
my 1050ti could handle mid to high graphics settings
and the rx570 is 70% faster
wait it is
its a great card
where are you getting 70% faster?
the 570 is between 1060 and 1070 right
570 is more towards the 3gb 1060
side note- there are a few 1060 variants
why
I take the stuff on userbenchmark with a grain of salt
Do not use userbenchmark to compare different GPUs
zack it has always been 30% and i know i looked on there when i bought the 570
what should i use instead
I'm gonna ask a mod mod if I can pin thatlol
3dmark timespy, fire strike, port royal,
superposition
best of all - real in game benchmark comparisons from sites like :
guru3d
tomshardware
Oh, to clarify - even thogh userbenchmark's gpu tests are still kinda "under construction" - I still think
Their tests are *usually* useful when comparing identical parts
Any opinions on this?
3700x
Scythe mugen 5 rev.b
2x8 3200C14 b-die (hopefully overclocking to 3733)
Oh right
Lol thx
Wait how do I send it without it saying u need to log in
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/ will it work?
Nope nvm
You can see in the url itself what it links to https://pcpartpicker.com/user/UCAUCA/saved/W8nPnQ
If you edit a list, you need to save and overwrite the current build , ensuring private is unchecked to update it for others to see.
RX 5700 XT is best mid range card and best bang for your buck
Fight me
2070S is only 3% better FPS average but $100 more expensive
Bring it @little osprey
game on
And at least with that crytek demo the 5700 XT performs software ray tracing around the same level as a 2060 non S, but there's more to be seen of that since it's just a demo
lol?

Like get whichever just don't let ray-tracing be a deciding factor AT ALL

If you like ray tracing and have done your research so you know what kind of performance to expect in the your hopeful use case - absolutely go for it.
"I can't believe people buy 2080 ti'or 5700xt's and don't even touch CUDA/OpenCL , what a joke"
lmao u should of seen this guy
somebody was trashing a Radeon 7 for like $560 saying how useless the vram and OpenCL support was, saying how CUDA is the only good compatibility
Looking for spec advice for a gaming PC. Here's what I'm looking at:

thanks
👍
are the GHz on your processor really that important?
like the difference between 3.6 GHz and 6.0GHz?
I don’t know the difference really, but I would watch some videos on it if I were you
its like the speed on which a cpu operates at
the faster, the more performance
a very basic explanation
Okay, that’s really good to know thanks
@drowsy yacht For like 10$ less you can get the GTX 1650 Super which is better than the RX 570
@old charm it does matter
it depends on what you use your pc for
if you use multi thread programs, the processors youll be looking at might not have the highest GHz but they will have a ton of cores/threads
if you do things like gaming that dont need 8+ cores, youll see processors with 6-8 cores and 12-16 threads with a high GHz
@latent bronze this one?
https://www.ebay.com/itm/MSI-GeForce-GTX-1650-SUPER-VENTUS-XS-OC-Graphics-Card-PCI-E-VR-4K-HDR-Ready/323988817838?hash=item4b6f3d07ae:g:xrEAAOSw7Zdd2BMF
@old charm Id say more this one https://www.newegg.com/evga-geforce-gtx-1650-super-04g-p4-1357-kr/p/N82E16814487482
@lime forge ever since Nvidia released that card it actually does matter now
are the regular one and the "super" the same thing?
If there is a GPU that performs between a 580 and 590 it is more worth getting
normal and super are totally different
You really should read all the conversation again zack
I think he is talking about an earlier conservation before cpu one
Yeah then idk what he is talking about lol
Well i answered this one https://i.gyazo.com/d45e2e509d5c2fe4ecd74a5ac2f28791.png
yes but if there is something far better for a little more money it would be best to get that
its not 'far better'
it is between a 580 and 590 so that is "far better"
...
Also you should use quotes when quoting
so should i go with the super over the radeon rx?
what games do you play
uhh
I guess mostly a mix of everything
except like shooters
and sports games
lots of fighting games
I like soulsborne games too
This is also for future games as well cause while the RX 570 would be good now how would you know it would be good next year and remember a lot of tests for the 1650S isn't even with proper drivers yet and does far better than the RX 570 and yes 10-20 fps more is far better
I am a complete greenhorn who knows next to nothing about pc stuff but is tired of playing on console/paying for online
@old charm It would be better to get the EVGA one on Newegg cause one EVGA has better support and also you would have a warranty on top of that
and am tired of having potato pc's
the 1650S would last for a good 3 to 4 years before you would need to really replace it
it's also a couple hundred dollars cheapr from what I've seen so far
The key thing @old charm is you want to future proof your system so for whatever games would come out you would be ready for it
Yeah, tbh that's what I am going for right now
@latent bronze can i send you my build?
sure give me a minute cause i am also cooking
for sure
1650s is not any more futureproof than the rx570
theyre somewhat close in performance
lol somewhat close that is funny zack
i'd go for a cxm 2019 psu, you can get a 750w 80+ gold for around the same price
you forget that everyone that tested the 1650S used beta drivers so it is not 100% but gives 10 to 20 more fps than a 8gb RX 570
@old charm You could also save a little more money going with this board and it is Ryzen 3000 ready https://pcpartpicker.com/product/jcYQzy/msi-b450-tomahawk-max-atx-am4-motherboard-b450-tomahawk-max
@old charm yeah that one
Reason: Bad word usage
holy crap
changing those saved me $400
lol
well
actually that's cuz there's no video card in there right now
I can't find the super on there but it would still only put me at like 900-1000
it was $1,200 before
and like $1,500 before that
I mean my starting budget was 2k so I can still splurge
o
Never know what he would want as well in 2 to 3 years
You do know he can overclock the memory as well and keep the RGB
@round flare isn't the 1660 super 30$ cheaper?
ye you could also go 1660s
I'm just lazy to find it on pcpp
you could get the evga one as well but it's out of stock rn
just replace the ti with that and the total comes out under 1k
https://www.newegg.com/evga-geforce-gtx-1660-super-06g-p4-1068-kr/p/N82E16814487479 its not out of stock
dammit
I have a 1k credit limmit
lol
gonna have to use my debit card a little
well I mean with Black friday/cyber monday deals it will be under that actually
is a $90 keyboard worth?
Depends
it might just be because it has RBG
Yes usually
oh, okay
Check the switch type
If it has a detachable rest
corsair is nice but kind of overpriced
So it aint a complete bad price
I would jus get one that is backlit red switches and sum udder stuf
that sounds kinda cool
depends which switches they want
do you want loud and clicky?
or silent
or just in between
I guess it doesn't matter that much to me
Could always get the hybrid box posted for 20$
Well hybrids are a mix of the 2
I'm not really sure what a "mechanical" keyboard even means really
oof
the descriptions for that keyboard say mechanical feel membrane
https://www.newegg.com/p/N82E16823201108?Item=N82E16823201108&cm_sp=homepage_dailydeals-_-p2_23-201-108-_-11232019 20$ and worth it in my opinion
idk what hybrid is
I hear a lot of good thing about redragon
they make cheap mecha keyboards
my friend has that one and loves it
mecha membrane is a sin
So are nacho's but people still buy them 😛
no nachos are good
but not with olives those suck
Alright, so how does this look?
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/XLMz7T
hybrid you mean
like either get a cheap membrane or a mechanical
Well 20$ right there is cheap
Team Group is known to work very well with Ryzen
like every brand of ram works with 2/3000 ryzen
Spend a little more for a real mechanical rgb keyboard
The original memory he has is still very good and 10$ less than the one you picked
But trident z rgb 😭
Would perform no different and they are both RGB still
@ nuclear - Every brand can* work, but non3600 takes a few settings changes to get that nice 1:1 on zen2.
Not hard at all - but some people aren't really about poking around in bios haha
do you guys reccommend getting virus protection or a vpn?
if youre smart, virus protection isnt necessary
yeah
You know the NSA bypasses a VPN
I only emulate like N64, PS2 ,Gamecube
What no SNES?
my bro got me the SNES thing you plug into your TV like last christmas
or my bday I don't remember
If it is like the knock off SNES mini/classic about 80% of the games are not originals and copies
You should try on PC Bloodstained
i just finished the game
30 hours of playing it and i didn't 100% the game
i got like 60% of the game completed from items and such
I am building a 4K video editing rig and maybe do some gaming, been many years... should I wait for Black Friday or Boxing Day?

whatcha guys think??
you need a dedicated rig for video editing?
Ok will do thanks for the tip
Ya I could do pcpartpicker but was looking for advice
Also this would be a better case https://www.newegg.com/black-rosewill-spectra-c100-atx-mid-tower/p/N82E16811147289
I want to put a dvd burner in it
Use an external instead trust me
um what
And they even sell enclosures for DVD drives to make it external
But I already own 2 brand new internal, and a drive that reads old 360 games haha
ya I know ... but then it needs to go somewhere
first one looks to have very little airflow and the second is just retro
with what parts
I listed them above
then got chirped for TEXT wall
Is the 2070 super really that much better?
I haven
I know what you listed but was asking zack for what parts he used with that cooler master case cause really i have a good feeling with the parts you want will cause heating issues
if you're going for the normal 2070
you might as well go 5700xt
if you're going 2070s then yeah it's worth
Just think of the 2070 Super as a low price underclocked 2080
doing some research to see the differences
I dont need crazy top of the line but I want a good computer for video editing and some gaming
yeah then the 2070s is perfect for you
great gaming card
should be great workstation card too
wow the RX 5700 XT looks pretty good
But he also wants 4K editing 😛
should be good for that too
I mean you won't see a massive gap between 5700xt and 2070
unless he wants to go all out and go 2080ti
$100 more for 6-10% more performance
yep
2070 super to 5700 xt
what do you guys recommend for a cpu cooler for a i7 9700K
water or air
water, liquid or air
Plan on overclocking?
Corsair Hydro Series H100i PRO Low Noise 240mm RGB Water/Liquid CPU Cooler 240mm (CW-9060033-WW) Support Intel 2066, AMD ...
I don't know... with the spec set it seems that I shouldn't have to
I hear it's really good
cheap too
lot of great video reviews on this https://www.newegg.com/p/N82E16835099003
I could of gotten it for 50$ awhile back but because of the case and fans i own i would be using 2 fan control boxes
how do I know what size I need for the i7 9700K
For an AIO it is the size of your case
How do I know if all of these parts work well together?
The case i was suggesting would work well with almost anything
that is why i was suggesting external DVD drives

Na I just want one internal DVD RW drive
you know NAS is pretty much a network drive right
I forgot the meaning of it
i actually have about (9) 1 or 2 TB drives
so I will just throw a few of them in there
for storage
M.2 for games
I am surprised there aren't more people that want to help me build a beast of a PC
haha
They're all busy in general chat talking about god knows what
is it worth it to buy now or should I wait till black friday/cyber monday?
I was wondering the same!
some places like Newegg and Microcenter are doing pre black friday sales
pretty much making sales on certain smaller items first before making bigger sales
is there anywhere that shows what the normal prices for things would be? I can't tell if a lot of these are actually deals or not
pcpartpicker has a price tracker for parts when you look them up
are they gonna put unsold stuff from this pre-black friday on sale for actual friday? can't decide if I should pull the trigger on 500d se now or later
I can’t find the brief conversation I had from yesterday and I don’t remember but here’s the parts list, I think somebody said something about a more powerful power supply? I also just found a deal for a 750w which is less than I wouldn’t wanted but for that little money I might go for it
this is great
Awesome, thanks
Would it be a bad idea to get a 750w if I’m overclocking?
I know it’s not much of an overclocker but I’d still like to try to push up the cpu a few hundred MHz and the GPU up to at least 2.1ghz, if I get a lucky bin I might be able to pull 2.3 but that seems unlikely
Also the ram up to 3733
Oh that’s fantastic
Thank you
Oh wow I just found an 850 for $80 off, it’s $70 on Monday
Well, I found a new egg cyber Monday ad that says it’s gonna be $70
What is that red thing on the case
It's where my MOBO screws on
@little osprey guessing the case dont have holes for wiring it behind the case?
i ran all my wires in the back
supposed to route all the cables on the bottom and thread them through the sides
Ok unhooking everything
I mean basically get everything to the back and pull them taught enough that they won’t break things but will have minimal exposure, then in the back just organize them vertically and horizontally and well dissipated so u can do as little finger gymnastics as possible if u ever change things
No scratch the well dissipated actually
Not really sure what I meant by that
Basically try to keep things to vertical and horizontal lines and just keep doing what ur doing, what u have there is great so just do that with everything
Oh also I just found a 3800x for $340, is it worth it for the bin?
Actually
I also found a 3700x for $305 and they bin so specifically nvm
Although apparently the 3800x has 150mhz extra overclocking headroom
extra cables you can tie them up together and tuck them under where your drives are
