damn, that sounds like something is eating up all of your resources
could be malware
maybe 😵💫 idk
yes, they're different
you can trigger safe mode by spamming f8 upon booting to get into windows boot options
and in there you'll select safe mode
without networking
okay so it's not a malware
this is definitely getting weird
hmmm, yeah you might wanna check your cpu temps
is the stuttering still happening?
i suspect you might have to reinstall your gpu drivers
it sounds like it's something related to the gpu
the amd site has an auto detect tool that will help you
nice, we got it
does this affect my games?
i havent seen any stutters rn
nope, it shouldn't affect your games
no, it's just a toggle that lets you use the gpu to scale the display scaling if i remember correctly
yeah it still stutters ;(
could i get a hand picking a new cpu cooler
this is the build currently
thinking this one
I'd just save $100 and get a pahntom spirit instead.
Get this instead
https://pcpartpicker.com/product/66cgXL/thermalright-royal-pretor-130-8188-cfm-cpu-cooler-royal-pretor-130
Will outperform the noctua for 1/3rd the price
Is it batter to have pc than laptop
if you don't need the portability, a pc is always better
For what i need what you suggest parts i need
so you're interested in building a pc instead?
I can look for both the only issue that there is no space to put the mouse and keyboard but if it worth the. Price i will see
that seems like a use case for a laptop to me, if you ask me
Cuz i have everything only the pc i don’t cuz now i playing ps5
I have monitor
And i have my old wired mouse and keyboard
And speakers and headset
But I don’t know i go for laptop or pc batter for me
In price range and performance
@obsidian wigeon so maybe you can guide me in selecting the parts and so
in terms of value, a pc will beat a laptop any day
i can whip up a parts list for you with everything available in amazon and newegg
Part List - AMD Ryzen 5 5500, Arc B570, BitFenix Nova Mesh SE ATX Mid Tower
here's a little something I whipped up for as little money as I can feasibly get
Is a 4:1 intake to exhaust ratio fine if i have a couple holes and the top fans are slower
ig thats a yes
yep
that makes for a positive pressure setup, which is fine
it can attract a lot of dust though
but that's the only concession about the stup
Should i add filters to the top or bottom pair
filters are always recommended to be installed
I know but bottom right since its likely to pull more dust?
install em all lol
Thank you
i only have 2 😔
but i ahve a funny powerful air blower from ali so its fine
Question: have someone building my PC and they are running into an issue with the PSU that I can’t return over 60 days. The rep is telling me to get an entirely new PSU.
Hoping that isn’t the case and there is an alternative. It’s a 9800x3d / 9070xt build with this PSU.
This is what the rep is saying:
The power supply you provided comes with 1 PCiE 6+2 connector. This graphics card requires 2, and the MOBO has an additional slot for further stability. I recommend having a PSU with 3 connectors.
This PSU has 2 6x2 outputs available, but I cannot find an adaptor that goes from 12vhpwr cables to the standard 6+2 connector for the GPU.
ugh
youre gonna need to get custom cables for this psu
or just get a new psu entirely
is that return window over?
I bought it before Black Friday in Newegg
so im guessing thats a no?
if the return window IS over the rep is right sadly
You can ask the rep about this cable from the A-GS II line
Should be 12v 2x6 to 2x 8pin
Hey yall so I just turned on my new PC for the first time and have it connected to a monitor.
But neither monitor is working. (Both are blank screens when I should be seeing bios
Any advice?
Are the monitors on? Are the fans in the PC spinning? Are the monitors plugged into the GPU or the motherboard rear panel?
I found a couple problems😅
So my motherboard has a 12pin connector for the CPU power
It says i should connect a 8pin and a 4 pin...
But I dont have a 4 pin connector.
Can I just put a 8 pin connector into the 4pin?
Usually the cpu 8 pin connectors can break into two 4 pins. And the 4 pin would be optional anyway.
I assume this is an 8 pin and a 4 pin?
Does your motherboard have any error lights? Usually 4 little lights over by the 24 pin motherboard power connector. Or a thing that looks like 2 characters off a digital clock.
Yeah-
And OH- THE 8 PIN connectors break in half
Helpful info😅
Are both sides of the 8 pin the same?
I think so
If it matters, the pins will be different so they don't plug in
The two 4 pins are the same but they each only fit in the port one way. Just line up the clip and it'll work.
Alright time for power up round 2😁
(I also didnt have the cooling fans for the aio all connected right... thats fixed and the RGBs are also now plugged in
Alright... something is not working with the motherboard and one of the RGB on the cooler fans isnt working...
I am not a fan of these thermalroght aios😅
The lights I meant would usually be in that sort of area. The fan lights don't matter for the pc working or not.
Just scored a 16gb rx 7800xt for $270. Near mint condition, 1 yr old was a little dusty but otherwise flawless with original packaging. How'd I do?
For my next build I’m stuck between the o11 vision compact or the o11 mini d2 any recs on which to pick?
Lucky mf
Which one do you like looking at more
It's been one deal after another. Same dude sold me a r5 5600, b550 aorus pro v2 mobo, a 650w evga psu and 32 gb ddr4 vengeance rgb pro all for $250. I already had a case and storage so I got a 1440 capable pc for well under $700🤷♂️
I gotta build a budget build for a customer for only $500
It’s tough now that ram is sky high
$500 is crazy mid rampocalypse id be telling them about opitplex's 😂
For real
Part List - AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D, Radeon RX 7900 XTX
how do I make this cheaper and better in some parts, I already have a case, it is ATX mid tower and alr got some ram
gotta keep the ryzen 7 9800x3d doe
playing not heavy 3d games, like war robots frontiers
and minecraft modded survival
You can go cheaper on the motherboard. Do you already have the psu or why is there an sff model that's ridiculously priced? And I'd get a 9070xt or a 5070ti instead of a 7900xtx.
5070ti worth?
no, I dont have the PSU
someone told me this was good enoughh?
All three of those are about even for performance. The 9070xt gets you fsr 4 and the 5070ti is another step up from there with dlss. And yeah the montech II is fine and good value.
Are there any motherboard features you specifically care about? https://pcpartpicker.com/product/sRG2FT/asus-tuf-gaming-b850-plus-wifi-atx-am5-motherboard-tuf-gaming-b850-plus-wifi This is a solid midrange sort of board. If you want usb 4 ports or something with more than 3 m.2 slots then you'd want to look at x870e.
for motherboards, not rlly, I will most likely only use one HDD, SSD and m.2
would likke atleast 3 usb 4 ports
I don't think there is anything with more than two. What do you need so many for?

Unless you are connecting an external drive or dock or something then the extra bandwidth is pretty pointless.
oo I see then, lol
https://pcpartpicker.com/product/KT88TW/asus-tuf-gaming-x870-plus-wifi-atx-am5-motherboard-tuf-gaming-x870-plus-wifi This one is a pretty good deal too. Just pay attention because one of the m.2 slots will cut the gpu's bandwidth in half. It has 4 m.2 slots though so that's not a big issue to avoid that specific one unless you need it.
lowk the mini cus the fan tilt it has on the bottom but the vision is beeter put tgt
ill prolly go w the vision anyway
I'm looking to upgrade or replace my PC.
Country: United States
Budget: Approx. $3,000 (Can go higher if needed, but prefer not to)
Use: Gaming, especially very demanding games.
Resolution: 3440 x 1440 Ultrawide (21:9 Aspect Ratio)
Aesthetic: Doesn't matter too much, but prefer Black with RGB lights
Condition: New
I'd prefer a prebuilt PC, just because I don't know squat about building a PC, and don't want to risk damaging it or setting it up incorrectly.
I want a really powerful PC with a Ryzen CPU, and RTX GPU. 2+TB SSD, 32GB+ RAM.
I play a lot of different games, including VR games, and want it to be able to run anything at the highest settings without issue.
Do you live near a microcenter? At those budget points you can price in their building service if you really can't build it yourself, although we'd still recommend that you build it yourself for the experience if not for saving the money
Another option is going for the upcharge for accidental damage warranty from whatever vendor, if you feel uncomfortable doing it without some backup
General idea is probably a 9800x3d/b850/32gb 6000c36 ish, using microcenter bundle if possible, 360mm aio, 2tb or 4tb decent gen 4 drive depending on price, 5080, decent case with 360mm top mount, and a decent 850/1000w PSU with 12v 2x6, should come out to around $2000-2500, I'll make a list in the morning if no one gets to it
What can we help with
No. The closest one is 4 hours away.
I live in southern Florida.
But I've also heard conflicting information regarding RAM prices, and heard from some people that buying pre-built might be best right now due to rising prices.
Only from models that haven't updated their prices since, which is basically non-existent now
It was viable for a bit when ram prices were rising rapidly and pre built prices didn't always increase accordingly
I'll try to make a list in a bit, not having a microcenter is unfortunate
Neglected to mention that I DO currently already have a gaming PC, and I bought it prebuilt on Newegg several years ago.
https://www.newegg.com/abs-master-gaming-desktop-nvidia-geforce-rtx-3060-intel-core-i5-10400f-16gb-ddr4-512-gb-sata-ssd-ali489/p/N82E16883360084?tpk=1&item=N82E16883360084
If absolutely necessary, I can have my sister fly out to help me put it together. She built her own PC, and has experience with tech components.
Yea uh that wouldn't really be necessary, I would recommend getting them on a call and helping you build though
Honestly, it's the CPU that scares me the most
AMD uses LGA instead of PGA now so you can't break the pins on the cpu anymore so it's not that bad
Example build list, I'm on mobile rn so I can't check for bundled deals, that'd usually shave off another $100, and if you have time to try to get a msrp card, that shaves another $300 off.
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/VwgRpK
Part List - AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D, GeForce RTX 5080, Phanteks Eclipse G370A ATX Mid Tower
Comparable prebuilt option (refurb)
https://www.newegg.com/p/N82E16883360785C
This is the one I've been looking at. And it's new instead of refurbished.
https://www.newegg.com/abs-kaze-ii-ruby-gaming-desktop-geforce-rtx-5080-amd-ryzen-7-9800x3d-team-t-force-delta-rgb-32gb-2x16gb-288-pin-pc-ram-ddr5-6400-pc5-51200-ram-2tb-nvme-ssd-kiir9800x3d5080-black/p/N82E16883360943
Any particular reason it wouldn't be as viable?
I probably should've mentioned sooner that I know very little about PC parts, and how they all work. A lot of things I read about it go over my head.
Personally I'm a little suspicious of airflow for that case but the parts and price look fine
For a prebuilt that is
hi i just bought a new DUTZO C330 TG RGB cabinet i came with 6 fans and i have a ROG STRIX B460-G GAMING motherboard and a this PSU
i dont know what brand or any thing about it so i just send a pic in the ibb.co link this is my first build so i dont know to much about how to connect the fans i have tryed connecting them to the motherboard but found nothing
the fans er rgb
btw
Have a second build sitting around, think of posting for sale what should I ask for?
Prices in screenshots are accurate for the used/new parts that went into this. I haven't even installed windows so the the new parts are still technically unused
900$
https://www.ebay.com/itm/146919861680 for reference
you could sell it for 850$ if you want it to sell quickly
Cool I might try to find a cheap monitor to go with it and throw in a mouse and key board, do a whole set up for like $1,200 maybe? I sold something similar not long ago with a 5600x and a 3060ti for $1,000
if youre fine with scamming ppl then sure you can try for it
I dont see how a complete 1440 set up for $1,200 is a scam.. people around me are selling ryzen 5 3600 with a 1660 super for like $600+
People don’t know pricing
the pc is worth a bit under 900$, a cheap monitor + keyboard/mouse isnt 300$... so youd be overcharging
The minor up charge is for a plug and play ready pc set up. By cheap monitor I meant sub $150 and I have a $90 Logitech keyboard I dont like that would go with it and a mouse is a mouse to start anything in the $20 range is fine
So idk i definitely need to make a little profit on it but I dont want to screw anyone over
still, youre overcharging ppl for nothing
Also not like im not negotiable, $1,200 would just be the list price
hey man you do you
id just sell it for 1100 or so, since that reference pc hasnt been sold in a while, so youd be chargin about 350$ for a monitor, kb and mouse...
Do $90 and Logitech keyboard even belong in the same sentence
Fair enough, I usually have no problem negotiating, I just list kinda high to cut down on the is this available messages and people window shopping on a budget🤷♂️ genuinely not out to screw anyine over but also trying to get all that I can for what I sell. A good deal is when both parties feel like they could have done slightly better😂
I dont make the prices 🤷♂️
I was being conservative with $90
Christ
Yeah i didnt pay that, I got a deal on that and another keyboard, I almost crapped on myself when I got home and looked it up😅
Anyone know how to fix or why my red cpu light is on my mobo
try reinstalling your cpu
what are your specs
How do we do that
5600x and a 4080
My pc doesn’t load up everything on lights and fans
But not loading
is it custom built?
Yep
CPU: AMD Ryzen 9 9950X3D
Motherboard: MSI X870-E Pro WiFi
Ram: Corsair revngeance 2x32 CL-30 6000mhz
GPU: PNY 5080 16gb
Power Supply: Lian li 1000w 80 gold edge
Cooler: Arctic Liquid Freezer III 360 Pro
OS: Windows 11 Pro
Storage: T170 ssd 2tb
Anything I should upgrade from the micro center, this is my current build atm
lol
Same storage?
T170 or a diff ssd
Up to you.
Cheapest stuff will usually work for your build
Cause I kinda want one without heatsink cause my mb comes with a heatsink
lol
I’ll get another gen 5 ssd
Honestly isn’t the Samsung pro 9100 pro the best?

Are these the gens or the pcie slot
I’m a little unfamiliar with PCIe slots
Gens
Ahh I see
Worst game is literally 3.5s
Damm ok I’ll look into that thank you
Anything else I should upgrade
Idk if I should trade in my 5080 for a 5090
Might be a waste
Nah, you’d be wasting money
Honestly I’d just go with a gen 3 from cheapest on pcpp
Understandable
Is my mobo fine?
Yeah
Everything is fine
Your ram is meh but it’s pointless to change for something similar at the prices they are now
What is wrong with my ram?
Corsair has quality issues with ram
Speeds/timings tend to be meh, but they’re such a small difference that it’s pointless to change
Oh yikes
youve got nothign you need to upgrade 😭
I want the best of the best
x870 has issues where too many ssds can cause less lanes to gpus
you have that
I thought that was only 850
Without breaking my card

nooo
x870 has usb 4 which makes it even worse
O
I am giving the wrong advice
Idk if I can return it and get a 4tb one
Get my wife a new cpu while you’re there
Alr thank you
What about this one? It's $650 off right now.
It's a downgrade in CPU and GPU, especially for gaming
😔 😭
I'm trying to find a really good one, but the last one you were concerned about airflow.
I haven't had any overheating issues with my current PC, and I don't want to start with my new one.
I hope that isn’t your location you’re leaking
Wym? There's no way to identify my location by anything I posted 😂
If you mean the thing that says "ship to Bedford" that is not accurate lmao Bedford is almost an hour away from me
Even if you could find me im not concerned😂🤣 I wish a mf would try me, thats that shi I dream of 🤣🤣
Just checking
I appreciate the concern tho bro💪🔥💯
I hate that a lot of sites just want to leak your zip code and name on every webpage
Yeah i use browsers that "hide" my location for that reason lmao
whats your current pc
if you dont play anything intensive dont upgrade rn
its the worst possible time to upgrade and it will be for a while
I do. And a lot of games especially lately have been really difficult to run properly. Some I can't even run above around 40fps at lowest settings, like Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora.
Either you hold out for longer or you squeeze the wallet, since ram is like 40% of the entire build lol
I would say this is better value than the ryzen build you sent earlier, since the 5070 ti is really not far behind the 5080
But at the same time, you cannot upgrade that cpu any further
AM5 likely has two generations left
But I have a feeling that you will be gpu limited regardless
I mean that's the same case, same potential issue lol
A lot of cases where manufacturers have a solid piece and only side channels for front fans to pull air through have issues
It is not as egregious as side intakes
@high kestrel are you near any microcenter?
Mr1111 already asked me that. The closest one is 4 hours away.
hm
I live in southern Florida
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/TMmfsp if you build it yourself you can save quite a lot of money, and you get quality components
Part List - AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D, Radeon RX 9070 XT, Phanteks Eclipse G370A ATX Mid Tower
get cheaper ram
it is NOT worth it for over 6000mts
saves 10$ for worse timings
and cl32
you do realize its still 10ns
and its the cheapest 10ns
theres a 12ns but its close in price
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/fDRNkf nah bro this the one fr
Part List - AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D, Radeon RX 9070 XT, Phanteks Eclipse G370A ATX Mid Tower
ewaste ram
doesn't look like you can even buy that ram lmao
Can't be shipped to anywhere in the US
bruh
can't tell where it's locked to
either way 6400c32 is fine
current gen chips will run it at xmp just fine
if you get unlucky with last gen, just lower it to 6000c30
thats not what I was worried about
i just meant like maybe get 6000 cl36 or lower for less but it turns out that kit is somehow the best available
sure drop to 6400c38 to save the ~$20 but there are literally no options below that
nothing that's worth buying*
If 6000c36 existed for cheaper, then it would be good, but it doesn't exist for cheaper
i said that
This is NOT that lmao
Does this one seem better?
The case, yes, but the hardware is still a pretty big downgrade
Devin said the games are demanding
So probably more gpu limited
In that case the difference is not that big considering 5070 ti is not too far from 5080
Less than 10% perf diff I believe on the 5070ti to 5080 perf
Might see at most 17% at 4k tho
B580
Hey yall, I just got a 5070TI graphics card I am installing on a clean install.
I got it hooked up to a 2x6 Power cable (the 12 pin 600w one) and its on the motherboard. But I haven't gotten it to actually turn on yet
I am using a seperate power port and cord that I didnt try before and it still isnt working.
I havent gone through bios yet but the motherboard gives the little red light saying the GPU is wrong.
Should I pull the GPU out and try re-seating it?
.
OK, so I re-seated the GPU and it did try to spool up.
But when the fans kick on, they start rubbing on the case.
So we are thinking of just holding up the graphics card with some bolts...
Or something...
So if I put that little bolt thing under it it holds it up enough I think
We are getting creative with eNgInEeRiNg a solution
So I might have to take a grinder and trim a small portion of the metal sheet out maybe?
So...
So on the motherboard it shows a red light saying the GPU is wrong.
And in the Bios the GPU is identified in the PCIE1_1 Slot which is its current location
So that seems correct
But its not seeing its a graphics card...
Ill try booting into windows and then updating drivers...
Alright... gonna try moving the Graphics card then...
It might be because its in the wrong slot.
Alright...
So it turns out it was just because all the drivers were outdated.
Like updating drivers fixed everything🤗
Average gpu issue
I should’ve looked at this chat sooner
Because obiously drivers are the solution to life
First idea to anything being wrong is updating everything as possible
Lol yeah I see that
Check your bios while you’re at it
To bad windows now requires online setup
Uh- how do I check bios?
Now i got windows so
Go to your bios(spam delete key after you restart), and check the bios version on screen
Ill check that out when I get back to the PC
How do I boot from bios then just F12 and say boot drom drive or just restart?
Check your walmarts locally. The WD SN5000 SSD 2TB for $124 (pretax) was restocked.
Hey yall, so I am now using my new Motherboards built in Bluetooth and it seems to not work very well
For some reason my mouse was having a hard time connecting to it using its built in Bluetooth lol. Not sure why
The board is a X870 from Gigabyte
Eagle series motherboard
Have you installed Bluetooth drivers?
I used driver easy to update all drivers
Tho there are like 2 that didnt update...
Manually download the bluetooth driver from the mobo website and double check the antennas are connected correctly
How do I make sure the antennas are connected right? I just pushed em into the port
I mean its a bit loose tbh
Bluetooth is also just kinda meh
If your mouse has a 2.4g dongle I'd recommend that
Na mine is pushed in.
I just checked there is no way to screw it in
Oh- gotcha. I am not sure why they even have built in Bluetooth if it sucks anyway
Should I just get a seperate wifi card? Lol
Abandon the motherboards connection suite.
It's cheap, low power, (usually) easy to use
But also high latency and can be finnicky especially on windows
Bluetooth just sucks. I use wired for everything but mouse and a dedicated 2.4 dongle for that. Bluetooth can also decide to cause itself problems if you use more than one bluetooth device at a time, with a headset + mic combo counting as two because bluetooth is just that bad.
It usually looks something like this, which needs to be screwed in, but sometimes manufacturers use weird standards
Bluetooth is just the easiest standard that doesn't need any hardware, 2.4ghz is better any time it's available
Lol but there isnt any other real wireless option
Thats the antenna
Huh- do any motherboards come with that?
I mean the antenna is compatible with up to wifi 7.
Anyway I am gonna go spend like 200 on mouse and keyboard
The push pin instead of screws are fairly common on current gen motherboards.
pcs can you or someone knowledgeable check my list or build cores?
anyone know anything bout laptops? tryna get a decent lil laptop for like $400 max budget mainly for work, multitasking and just something that can run simple things like modded minecraft, valorant, cs2, and rocket league would love some help :D
Send it here
or this, (refurbished). better graphics I think
overspending hella on the fans imo but that's up to you
could probably go for a 2tb ssd
9800x3d unless you really need the 9900
save a bit on the motherboard as well
oh shoot I been seeing a bunch 4800h or 5825U on newegg for much higher but all the reviews say it breaks quickly, im assuming the 7730U is greater and but it makes me wonder, are those on the egg selling higher because their aesthetic? idk much when it comes to laptops tbh I just got a desktop and that was prebuilt I appreciate this assistance takin time out of your day, if you dont mind, do you have any advice for me regarding what Im looking for in that earlier comment? like idk maybe $400 is too little, or tips on how to search intelligently, if not no worries at all, this is already huge help!
7730U is actually basically the same as a 5825U. The graphics might not be quite enough for Valorant, CS, and RL.
interesting, should I up my budget?
you might get better value out of ~$500
i see, what kinda specs should I be lookin for at that range? sorry for my oblivion
tried using ai but its taking me in circles and I dont exactly trust it too much
16gb ram and the best cpu you can find
i'm not super knowledgeable on the newer laptop cpus though
valid, i'll have to keep searching, its mainly for work but since I'll be far from my desktop I'd like to be able to maybe play RL with some friends every now and then
ty ill check this one out too, reddits not loving it too much lool
but tysm
Part List - AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D, Radeon RX 9070 XT, Lian Li O11 VISION COMPACT ATX Mid Tower
couple cheaper fan options in there if you want. Didn't see an exact clone of the lian li ones
Oh yee I js didn’t change it
Thank you
Would the aurous x870 be better? Not the x870e but the base model?
motherboard isnt too important tbh. you could even go for a b650 but you may need to update bios for the 9800x3d to work
I was gonna ask if this was zen 3+ but that is the 7735u
Horrid naming scheme
Definitely right I js like the look of the aurous one that’s basically it
2.4ghz in this circumstance is more about a separate dongle that is already paired between the mouse and the dongle using 2.4ghz for communication, it's a feature of the mouse, not the motherboard
Bought this for the back of my case but it's way to long and a bit wide
Is it worth trying to cute the magnets and mesh to make it fit? Or should I buy a new diy mesh kit with magnets?
I mean, you can just use tape lmao
Tape the filter to the pc?
Or the magnets to the mesh?
The filter is surprising sticking onto the back of the pc but the bottom half is not contacting because in the middle there is the pcie cover which buldges out
No need to have mesh on the back
There’s only one fan there and probably at a lower rpm too
The majority will be coming from the bottom which has a filter
If you are doing rear intake, then that fan will be like a third or even a quarter of your total intake volume depending on the speed of your fans
But if you still want to do it anyway, then you can cut the mesh in half, yes
About the magnets though
If each side has its own piece, then you can just omit the long ones
🫡 Gotcha yeah it's rear intake
So I would remove the long side magnets, bottom magnet, then cut it to be shorter, then put the bottom magnet back on?
So in that picture
You could just remove the side ones
If each side has its own magnet
Probably does
what is going on 'ere
Oh I see the separation
Yeah you don’t need to cut them
Trying to figure out how to shorten my mesh filter
You could but you don’t need to
Why tho'
Are the magnets really thin?
Uhh kind of?
It has a sticky thing when I try to remove it idk if it's glue or something
Ah
Aesthetics 😔
I guess you either cut through them or just run the intake at a lower rpm if you are concerned about dust
aesthetics on the back of the case
I can see it while sitting at my monitor
It's safe to cut through it?
sure its safe but you better do it right cause you cant reverse it
I really want to do that but I'm just paranoid
Oh lol I just found the one you got
Hm not really
It did come sort of folded when it arrived
But I stacked something heavy on it and got rid of it
To make sure you do it right the first time I guess you can get to measuring
Ok so I can just cut through the magnets?
Also another issue it's a little to wide too so I might need to trim some of the side too 💀
Screw it diy it is
Honestly I would just run a lower rpm without a filter for convenience
Unless you want to do the diy mesh then go for it
anybody know why my PC would stop giving display, and only some USB devices (keyboard and headphone) would stop working? nothing visually wrong on the pc, it was shipped a couple states but everything is plugged in correctly and nothing is visually wrong.
Ahh I want to but I really want mesh for peace of mind
Is there a debug led on the motherboard
no
Nice, I don’t have one either and it costed $200

Ughh but I need 110 x 120mm I think cause side too wide too
Is it posting
posting?
Z20?
d32 pro
Like monitor has a display
The mesh bumps a hook where you use to pull off the tempered glass panel.
Send a picture of the computer
Could be many reasons why there is no post
like of the inside? of mb and shit?
I have a feeling it can slide under it
Yeah mb lol
dont mind bracket
Is the monitor plugged into the graphics card
Ahh just tried it was almost able to but still like 3-4 mm too wide
Is it a prebuilt rave?
Yes
If it's from a big company you should try to get a replacement
Try a cmos reset real quick
not new its like a few years old
Ahh darn that's tricky then
jus said its few years old
Can’t do that for a cmos reset. Either there are a couple pins you short to do it, or press a button somewhere, or take out the battery
Is this board from msi
o
and uh
lemme check
Ahh oops I can't read lol
i actually dunno where mb is from cause prebuilt
uh
i lied, its gigabyte
a b650m c v2
Ok so there are the reset pins next to the fan header on the bottom
This is below your graphics card
Try to get a screwdriver down there and push on it for a few seconds

ok
@icy crater is ur pc built
If u can’t get to it then you can take out the graphics card
pc off right
Yeah
and push down between the two pins or on top of both
Use a screwdriver or something similar to bridge the two pins
Few seconds
it no turn on
Hmm
See how the two reset pins are in between the headers
nah like i did that too
but then it wouldnt turn on
and then i hit the button after it wouldnt, and it did for like a second then turned off again
done that a few times, unplugged everything from PSU and replugged
i have reseated ram, gpu, and PSU cables
I’m thinking something might be faulty then
You ever take out a cpu before?
i mean i assume the mb is cooked since USB devices and the video aint workin
nah
Actually let’s try something
Idk if it will work
Try getting a usb drive and put a new bios version on it
Plug the drive in and hit that flash button
uh
i can see if i can try that, if it doesnt work ima jus take it to a shop to get it looked at and repaired, thanks
It probably could the board, since the cmos reset is making it behave differently

this could work as a last resort
Yeah
Did u just join wegg lol
Yes!
Sorry I never updated you on the nobara situation
I think I might stick on windows for a bit, we found the bigsteam option and are playing games there right now. I'm just worried nobara will be too much of a headache
Do you mean big picture
The console-like steam setup
Also all good, no rush
Just curious because you were planning that build out for a good bit
yeah lmao
how's it been
Oh yeah, big picture mode
Yeah I'm really happy the building was very stressful but really fun
Only ran into small issues like my atx psu is too big so I can put the cable cover and the pcie cover screws weren't screwing back in
But honestly those aren't too big of a deal
Just need to fix that mess filter situation and wait for a 1440p monitor to go on sale 💀
Steam has no issues on linux
You would only have problems if you play games like apex
All good, I first joined this server years and years ago for giveaways
During my giveaway gary era
I never won a single thing after years of being a giveaway gary
Ahh yeah I know I meant like the headache of partitions and stuff
Ah
The installer nobara uses already makes the necessary partitions and folders by default
welcome in
Better to go with a B580
Ok for some reason b580 prices are trash rn
Is power consumption/case space a concern? Cause you could get a really good older card thatll perform better but might be bigger and definitely consume more power
It's for a sff build
Ideally I wanted to find a 3050 6gb so I can go with a 200watt psu but haven't been able to
oh with that in mind then yeah a 5050 is fine
are the giveaways only in the US?
just make sure you buy from a reputable seller
Some are some aren't
itll say in the terms and conditions
What's the consensus between 4060 and 5050? Is 4060 generally the better one?
If the prices are close then 4060 is still better in raw performance
5050 may be better with a lower price and newer dlss frame gen
4060 also consumes slightly less power
115w vs 130w

Probably
what
This was years ago

Like 2018-2020
Tru…
Was only able to find 4060 for 250$
Ok grandpa lets get you to bed
I might have to go 5050
jk
Fr
thats an alr price
if you can go used, $250 gets you an rx 6700xt
Ahh I can't I'm looking for sff parts
i mean there are fairly small dual fan 6700xts
I'll have to get 300 😭
5050 is 130w
you should anyway
4060 slightly edges out 5050
wait are you trying to run the whole build off of 200w lmao
4060 ref spec is 115w
Yeah I was trying to
Cause I was looking for 3050 6gb lp
i mean, it could work with a 65w cpu
Ez
Ok I will try the $230 5050 I think
that can go up to 88 youd need to limit power in bios
They have a MPG B550I GAMING EDGE WIFI for $100 too they said
A seller from hardwareswap
huh i know nothing about that
Ohh how do I do that?
is there a reason you're trying to do this with 200W? I really doubt that saves much money and you would get way better performance from a 6700xt or something similar
Is that something from bios?
It's for a sff build for my friend
yeah you can set the power limit in bios
Can't fit a 6700xt I was just trying to save on the psu if I was able to get a 3050 lp
so tiny
Cute card
When I undervolted my 6700 xt I had it going from 130w-160
Typically 130-140
The power was more variable because I couldn’t cap it below 174
At least on the card I had
Smol
tomshardware review on tthe 5050 shows it at an average power of 117w at 1080p
not sure if I would trust that with a 65w cpu on a 200w psu
because there will be transient higher draws
i dont either
Oh I forgot there is a 4060 lp
Curve optimizer on the 5600 does wonders
Cut the cores power draw in half
Here is another one for 240 https://www.ebay.com/itm/326729676181
I don't even see an sfx psu on pcpp that's under 250W
oh flex atx
Do you think the 300watt from seasonic is any good?
5050 and 5600 is ok with 300 right?
85 sold where is bro getting these https://www.ebay.com/itm/326875804295
Wth
😭
Saw a guy selling bunches of ram kits the other day on facebook marketplace
Whole table stacked with 32gb kits
I would trust a 300W unit at ~60% load over a 200W at 90% anyday
Wait so undervolted made it go up?
It depended on the workload
UGH that enhance one with 3050 6gb is so ideal
Typically sat in a range between 130-145w
The power varied more because I couldn’t cap it below 174w with the card I had
I know this is sfx not flexatx but
https://www.ebay.com/itm/366127924944
yes
How was dealing with drivers? What drivers would I need to download?
I had no issues with drivers
like, I didn't have to install any
it doesn't have wifi or BT which are probably the most common drivers to need
Ohh it doesn't? 😭
might look into 4060 laptop pricing too tbh
idk what the total cost of the PC will be but I saw a laptop with a 4060 for like $500 the other day
gets you a monitor and keyboard included too
laptop 4060 is probably a little slower? not sure
Fr
yes
laptop gpus are always slower
well
if the cores and power draw (*and thus cooling and clocks) are the same then perf should be
nope
with such a low power card the laptop version might keep up
naw
that's sorta by definition. But idk what the cooling allows for power draw wise
It’s like a whole tier below the desktop
Like 5090 mobile is slower than a 5080 desktop
Truth
oh do laptops only come with M chips now
hmm looks like it's been that way for a while so nvm
yup desktop 4060 is AD106 while laptop is AD107, fairly big core difference too
kinda scummy to drop the -M if there's a core difference
Aw that sucks. I got no chance 😭
Ooh that's not bad
They stopped doing them almost entirely
Very rarely is there one
So it don’t really matter anyway
5050 is better is it not
It’s the one card that finally outbeat a 1080ti
At base model
Only in cyberjunk it beats the 4060
they are now listed as "laptop gpu" now
so rtx 5060 desktop is well, 5060
laptop? 5060 laptop gpu
so there's not much confusion if you read a lil bit
For $250 not a bad card since it performs similarly to a 2080 and matches perf closely to the b580 but was cut short in vram department as per usual
eh, it's a 1080p card, 8gb isn't the end of the world
also i'd like to add
a fully specced 4060 laptop is only 5-10% slower than the desktop 4060
same for 5060
and 5050
it's only when you start to look at xx70 is when things are vastly different
due to the cuda core count, tdp, and vram being different
just because it's a laptop doesn't mean it's that bad like some ppl make it out to be

I assume there is more variance though because of different power limits in different designs
I did use a bad example but it has always been the case, where the laptops were much behind
Unless the 50 and 60s were always close and I don’t remember
What about prior archs
Ah ok
just gotta watch out for the laptops that cheap out on cooling
those are the nasty surprises
thankfully the abundance of reviews online makes it less daunting
Ok that makes more sense
but it can easily fool someone unsuspecting
Yeah too much variation with laptop performance
laptops are like prebuilts but you gamble even more
Like that acer I keep looking at, worse than others because of the lower tdp, which is not explicitly stated anywhere, and only briefly mentioned in some reviews, not all
You have to research a lot for laptops, especially now
with all the rebranding, yep
I also thought the one I was looking at was ips, but is actually oled
I also feel like there are more laptop skus too, not just chip names
certain configs of the same lineup are also pretty odd
So many variations even with the same name
Exactly
like i saw a review of legion 5 pro
the 5070 variant had more power budget for the cpu
5070ti? more to the gpu
The old hp I am getting rid of has so many variations, all named hp pavilion 15 gaming laptops
Laptop moment
some skus are also so subtle in changes
i wish oems would be honest about specs
how much tdp, what's the tgp
I tried getting spare parts but they don’t fit because one will be for ch-blahblah and another for cx-whatever and other models. But it is all “hp pavilion 15 gaming laptop”
hp is the worst contender when it comes to laptop names
Mine has two heatpipes for both the cpu and gpu
Both are nearly throttling after ptm application
This is so peak
Like they both share the same two heatpipes and the fin stack is very tiny
Nah this is the gaming laptop with 20 models
ah
my old asus gaming laptop also has cooling issues lmao
the one my bro still uses
the gpu would get so hot it throttles its vram too

gotta love old laptops and trash cooling
Well at least that aspect seems to have gotten better, at least to me
they have gotten better as a whole
Hey I found this PC for like 400$

I wanna buy it because I already have an RTX 3070
And plus I have 8GBS of RAM
Yeah it might sound like a bad deal actually but in my country it's not that bad
uhhhhh
well 9700 is not bad still, but
it would depend on the parts you already have
Go for it
whats worse, 3 pin dc fans or molex fans
Molex
thats good
R9 5900x with 5070ti? I shouldnt need to upgrade anything for at least like 5 years right?
I mean… cpu is def on the much slower side
Idk abt 5 years
I'd probably opt for a 5700x3d or 5800x3d
Or am5. But with ram pricing the way it is idk
They’re usually crazily priced
Well there is that 9600x ram combo
It comes with a 240 aio, which is not necessary for that cpu, but still
For 385 those three would be pretty good in this market
At least motherboards are cheap now
So I guess with that deal and the cheaper boards makes it not so much more than upgrading last year
only a bit more than what either of those cpus would cost
True, but it would make more sense to spend that on something newer
mhm
yeah
and you can sell a 5900x for a good amount, plus am4 mobo/ddr4 ram
probably would be cheaper then getting a 5800x3d
Wait do they already have the 5900x?
Asking if a build you already have is good for 5 years is odd to me
If my motherboard doesn't have a front io usb-c header, what adapter should I get?
It says it has: 4 USB 3.2 and 2 USB 2.0 in the rear; Front 1 USB 3.2, 1 USB 2.0
whats the usb c for
For the front panel
for what
what are you plugging in
Wait what?
what are you plugging in to the port
what device are you using that needs a usbc connection
Trying to figure out what adapter I should get
Not sure atm just want to have it usable
get a cheapo usba to usbc adapter
A lot of mobile inputs need usb c to usb c
yes ik, but they didnt answer the question
Is that the right board? Because it has one.
Uhh not sure but the motherboard website doesn't mention it
What are mobile inputs?
Various
Too many to name
Oh as in like usb docks?
Kinda yeah
Ah gotcha thanks, yeah not 100% sure what my friend needs to use it for but just want to make sure it works.
I've been pc building for years but I can't figure out what's wrong with my build.
Asus TUF B850M-PLUS WIFi
AMD Ryzen 7 9800x3D
G.Skill Flare X5 DDR5 6000 32GB (F5-6000J3636F16GX2-FX5)
EVGA 3080 FTW3
ASUS ROG Strix Platinum 1000watt PSU
Turns on, lights and fans but no display.
try to use the igpu and see if that works
Which light stays on?
Looks like led 2
Its in slot A1 and B1
Its working now. Apparently it would not boot with A1 and b1. Boots fine in A2 and B2 ram slots
yeah A2/B2 are the first slots
Bought the gpu sag bracket before i knew my gpu clearance is about 2 millimetres so i guess its for show now
Is a 5070 for 500 a good find? No box but still in the antistatic bag n has connectors
Yes
Actually give it to me
I'd rather just pay the extra $50 for a new card with a warranty. A 10% discount for used isn't enough imo.
give it to roomba for instant mod promotion

Brand new
In the antistatic wrap
Asus TUF 5070
I'd try to find out if Asus still do warranty by serial number rather than requiring a receipt or online order confirmation.
are mods supposed to just disappear forever lol
Wym
Tomie is active in mod chat
And was hella active
Tomie has the most XP in the server
By a mile
is there any upgrade i can do? im currently on a am4 platform and have a B450 TUF Gaming v2 mobo paired with a Ryzen 7 3700x with the stock air cooler, 16 gb ram from Corsair Dominator Pro, and a rtx 4060
just keep with your current pc, its a really bad time to upgrade
it is a bad time to upgrade, but if u wanted to, i'd maybe get a better CPU
Maybe you can upgrade your monitor to OLED as well or a nicer chair
its not a huge huge upgrade and WOW thats expensive
i don't think it's SUPER pricy
but the definition of "worth it for the money" argument is a messy one
Yeah
https://www.newegg.com/amd-ryzen-7-5000-series-ryzen-7-5800xt-vermeer-socket-am4-desktop-cpu-processor/p/N82E16819113846?item=N82E16819113846 I'd probably just get that instead. Maybe you can find someone to pay more than $30 for the mouse and come out ahead too.
That is $200, $220 -$20 discount code and + free mouse.
Ah ok
You'd probably want to upgrade the gpu and cpu at the same time imo
i was js thinking an cpu and aio upgrade tbh
Nah you can do an air cooler
i can js ts is so loud and when playing a games its gets faster i js want it to be quiet
Cpu upgrade alone probably won't net you much performance. Maybe in eSports titles with low settings.
why get an air cooler when cheap aios exist
https://pcpartpicker.com/product/k7ZWGX/thermalright-aqua-elite-argb-v6-7084-cfm-liquid-cpu-cooler-aqua-elite-360-argb-black-v6 such better cooling performance for not much more
ong i want a lcd screen too lol
https://pcpartpicker.com/product/sxP8TW/thermalright-frozen-warframe-argb-7084-cfm-liquid-cpu-cooler-frozen-warframe-360-black-argb act this is better
Best pre built for 1200?
whats the primary difference of slight changes in fan speed and size
or is it the fan speed and size
i shouldve reworded it better
relative to each other which ones the quietest, the coolest, budget
i would say all of them are reletivly quit
quiet
i would also say that they all have diffrent size heatsinks
Peerless assassin < royal knight <<< royal pretor
Pretor beats basically every air cooler
i got a thermalright air cooler on my 7800x3d and it keeps it hella cool
i found this for 1200 what do yall think i dont think i can find much better https://www.newegg.com/abs-cyclone-aqua-gaming-desktop-geforce-rtx-5060-intel-core-i7-14700f-32gb-2x16gb-ddr5-1tb-nvme-ssd-black/p/N82E16883360950
