Also by unplugged you mean psu off and no cord connected
Both
Ok
because why not lol
I’ll try that once I go upstairs
Yeah good luck. I have to run some errands and I'll probably be gone for the rest of the day lol
God Speed solder 🫡
Thanks for the advice
Did you fix it
I talked to some other people and that has a risk of damaging my board even more beyond warranty
What
Removing cmos and putting it back has no risk
I’m 99.9% sure my board is bad
Wasn’t what he said fully draining the psu
No he littelry said turn it off
But you drain it or am I misreading it
Flip the switch
Idk man
I’m like 100% sure my mobo is broken in some way
Make a bootable usb
Test on other pc
The. Broken one
USB causes bootloops too
Show video
Throw out pc
Honestly
Would it hurt putting gpu in old pc
Old and low wattage psu
Hear me out
Old psu on everything but gpu
New psu powers gpu
Easy

It would workkk and you can enjoy your new gpu atleast
No
I wouldn't be so sure yet
If it's a first build there's a high chance it's just something you've missed
Like what
I’ve done
20+ hours of troubleshooting this weekend
That would depend on how you built your pc
Like… normal
You see
The first build never works
What do the debug LEDs say?
What motherboard and cpu do you have?
Also have you tried clearing the cmos as motor said?
Yes
Aorus b650 elite ax and 9700x
Yes
do yall know a good 60 dollar case
Please give a text description
Idk what else to say
Starts at bottom left and goes to the other lights
what is the label of the led(s) that lights up
I'm thinking that too
Could be an outdated bios version
Have you tried updating bios?
I'd refrain from that first
If not that then its probably the board
One thing at a time
It'd be pretty strange if he's gone all this time without someone telling him to update the bios
Considering that it's a 9700X on a B650
Board should have flashback
It’s fully updated
Yes, F33
Yes
What debug leds light up when your pc turns on
Describe the pattern
Dram, to boot, to vga to cpu, repeat every bootloop
I think
What ram troubleshooting steps have you tried?
What ram troubleshooting steps have you tried?
What ram troubleshooting steps have you tried?
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/GD3brM monitor any good?
Part List - AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D, GeForce RTX 5080, Antec C5 ARGB ATX Mid Tower
Bro that jawn goin for like 3 bands
pardon?
Each stick in each slot in every way
Each singular stick?
Don’t have another
Could also be a motherboard issue
Psu is interesting, 5080 is MAJOR over pay, monitor is overpriced
I’m 99% sure it is
Might want to swap out the board
I can’t
That’s 200$…
I’ll just wait till microcenter
I don't know what to tell you
Philly speak
Can probably find retail for 1.9
Ah
Seller has hundreds of sale in the last few days
That's a 4070S
Ah shiz
https://www.ebay.com/itm/376085777187
now here’s something that’ll melt your connectors

$2.4
It’s actually wild bro
I’m boutta just get 4080 super for 1.2 at alibaba or 1.6 at Newegg
2020-2022 gpu market lookalike rn 💔
Also I got the microcneter bundle so I’d need to return cpu mobo and ram
Oof, call and see if they can replace the board
I’m going up this Saturday thankfully
Call ahead of time to see what you need for a replacement
I mean… idk 100% if it’s broken but I’m pretty damn sure
Just ran it and of restarted not sure if it blue screened or just crashed bc I wasn’t watching. This is what the log shows and idk what it means
haven't been using 0.13, gonna guess it's just logging which cores are being used, P for Processor, CC is probably cycle complete, if it doesn't log you ending it or an error, check event viewer and see if it crashed before it could log the error
or if the crash was unrelated to tm5
Would anyone know why my old computer will boot sometimes but then it will refuse to boot. I get stuck on the windows screen but it doesn’t have the loading wheel.
I’ve changed ram, changed drives, cleared drive and redownloaded windows, cleared cmos, changed sata cords.
should i buy a 6650xt for 240 or save for a 7600 at $280?
Get a 6700 xt
What
I see 6700 xts for under 300
I guess it varies
I guess prices went up after I got mine
i need some help with my GPU as of today whenever i play anything the usage will jump from 0% to 99% not sure why it is doing that. I am have a AMD Radeon RX 6800
and CPU is AMD Ryzen 9 5900x 12-core Processor
Have your frame rates gone down
To me it seems like your graphics card is being properly utilized
i did not keep a logged so am i not sure how i would know what it was before today
What games you play
so rn running warframe and i about 171 fps
What settings
And where in the game
high
Resolution
Where was this screenshot taken
in the options setting i click to show FPS and this just as soon as i log in
in the ship
Oh turn vsync to the off option
so by doing that it did lower the usage
Well here is what I get at 1080p with a 6700 xt 1080p high. When I look out the window its like 230 or something
So I see nothing wrong
True but there is nothing wrong with the graphics card being pegged
Just means it is being fully utilized
ok so i thought this was an issue because if want to watch say a stream or a video in the background there was a lag in the feed
And when you go into a grineer mission for example, or solo mission, gpu usage will go down
Playing with other people seems to be more demanding
Like there would be a hitch in the youtube video or what
staggering same with netflex and it was not like before today
more netflex then anything
Did you do any updates
i would see a show and i would see and hear the pauses
last time my GPU had an up was in March
it was done with the AMD Software
through there i have set to performance
Is it happening while you are playing
yes
Could be happening because the card is at 100% while playing both so there is a hitch here and there
I dont watch while I play very often at all really but I think I do remember a hitch here and there
In the video and not the game
any ideas why this could be happening
was not doing it before today
yesterday i did the same as i always do and no issues then
Hmm
actually its more Netflix i have yet to see a hitch in you tube even when i have a video at 1080p
so i would have it run on my top monitor and it is a older monitor HDMI connection to the GPU 1920x1080
refresh rate is 75hz
the monitor i game on is 2560x1440 refresh rate of 100hz DP connection
i also have a side monitor that is 1080x1920 that DP connection 100hz as well that i just use it for web search and answering messages since its connected to my phone
temp use i do not see it going over 60
Set a frame rate cap
Should go away with a frame rate cap
what should i set the side one to?
Oh my bad I meant in warframe
what should i set it to
What options are there
currently have it set 180hz
Does it show 100
nope
this is the monitor i use https://a.co/d/5yMuOhP
In competitive gaming, every frame matters. Introducing Acer's XV271U gaming monitor - the WQHD (2560 x 1440) resolution monitor that can keep up with your game play. This AMD FreeSync Premium monitor takes gameplay to the next level of smooth, the game’s frame rate is determined by your graphics...
sorry here it says 100hz refresh rate
What the hell
sorry for the confusion
Maybe the cable yoy are using is not letting you go to 180 hz
Oh oh I see
That screenshot is the secondary monitor
Set a frame rate cap of 165 hz in warframe if you can
It could be that because the gpu is maxed out that some frames are dropped from netflix
So with the cap it would leave some room for other things
here is the screenshot of the main monitor
you were correct
Ok cool
set it to 165 and its not at 99% any more
Makes sense
between 91-95
Try playing something now and see
Yeah
i just noticed it today i do not typically use Netflix when i game
mostly youtube and no issues there
so i shouldn't worry that my GPU might be breaking more like i am using to much of it?
So what I think is going on is that the other times you were playing, the gpu wasnt maxed out while the videos were playing so you never had the issue. But when in the ship, which can be gpu demanding, you notice it because there isnt headroom for the card to deliver a stable feed, but putting a frame rate cap gives it headroom to play videos because the cap is not letting it perform to its highest
Because there are scenarios where warframe can be cpu limited too
I remember leveling up in hydron and my gpu was at like 60% usage when I checked
Then i go to another tile set and it is at 100
But in the ship my cpu usage is very low and gpu usage very high
so is a general rule of always have vsync off then when i put settings on games i just put the highest and do not mess it after that
And if you ever do have any problems you can put a frame rate cap on
So yeah dont do vsync

really means a lot
Hello, what is the current best SSD 4TB+ for both M.2 or normal SSD, I need it for mainly installing games and storing some files such as gameplay videos? I need a reliable one that will last long time.
Just get something like a Crucial P3
There's also this which has a pretty good review from 2023, though techpowerup notes there are multiple versions so it could be the newer ones are cheaped out
https://linustechtips.com/topic/1492767-kingspec-xg-7000-pro-2tb-pcie-40-nvme-ssd/
There is an interesting NVMe drive out there that is has little to no information, yet it is being sold out there. The XG 7000 (sometimes labelled as XG 7000 Pro) is part of the XG Series PCIe 4.0 drives from Kingspec, a Chinese company making notorious DRAMless SSDs, but they also sell memory st...
4tb for 200$ is like
Really good
Esp at those speeds
Issue is it could be a switcheroo with worse components. I'd probably find a newer review before buying.
Allegedly uses the same components as an mp44
Until they are found to be using a different controller or different nand, it's fine
There is one XG7000 entry saying QLC and a different controller
The XG7000 Pro entry also says a different layer count for the TLC but that could be because the pro entry is older than the others
This would personally make me pass tbh, thanks for pointing that out. Probably a much cheaper model
im mildly concerned about the firmware quality imho
when it comes to cheap brands
cuz nand is nand, but firmware matters
Damn thats something nobody talks about
we've seen samsung mess it up enough times
Right but that LTT forum post used one and was fairly detailed in their testing, not just theoreticals. However if they tested the high quality tlc version the cheap qlc one could be much worse
okay, that's a bit assuring
My Samsung OEM pm981 wants to burn up and die
My 970 evo plus goes hard
a cheap nvme ssd is always faster than sata
a bit too broadly generalized but hey
To be fair, the entry for QLC says it is only a variant of the 4tb
hmm
The guy wanted a 4tb drive tho
If it was 2tb I'd probably have just reccomended a cras c910 or mp44whatever
I always forget Q vs L
i have mp33 myself
the only known map issues have been fixed
plenty good for gaymez
there were some map + 232l ymtc issues but fixed through firmware updates
It seems the cheaper brands sometime sneak QLC into 4tb models
that's perfect
Im still on pcie 3 nvme
anyways since there's a known qlc 4tb version, don't get it
It hink it was the mp44 that does qlc on the 4tb
Probably why it's the cheapest 4tb lol
Team clearly marks it as mp44q
separate from the mp44
no known qlc mp44
and then s for small for the 2230 stuff
ye worse controller worse nand and lower rated speed
hey i just made this build the cpu, mobo and ram come in a bundle and the currency is cad$ so does anyone have feedback on it and how i could make a better computer for cheaper? https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/list/x7PKMC
Part List - AMD Ryzen 5 9600X, Radeon RX 7800 XT
try to see if that bundle comes with other ram kits lol
360 usd isn't bad considering microcenter doesn't exist in canada
theres also this one, the ram is better
definitely
Could do ~$130 7500F, $150 mobo, $80 ram for under $400
Ohhhh wait that's cad not usd
ye so like 360usd
Ah ok lol that's much more reasonable
and according to tom's hardware pretty hard to beat the 9600X in value to performance
7500F is great. But with that bundle the 9600x seems pretty good
I mean Intel 13th gen is getting pretty cheap now, and there's stuff you can get on aliexpress for pretty good value, and usually 7600x bundles are better priced than 9600x bundles
it's good but there can be better value depending on the market
anyways canadian GPU prices still looks pretty bad, 7800xt isn't optimal but doesn't look like you have a much better option anywhere else, backordered 5070 is theorhetically fine but probably too much work and too much added headaches until Nvidia fixes the current driver issues, 9070s are quite overpriced
Is it normal to have 2?
Something has to be wrong with my gpu and I have no clue what
Just got this new pc and its been having issues since bootup
what CPU do you have
7700
that's the iGPU being listed
so its fine
Idk what else to do with this pc
its been the biggest headache ever
Its either the blurry Fortnite or the screen effects
blurry fortnite is 95% game settings and/or display settings in general
and the other screen effects I still don't really see it, unless it's the artifact looking thing that makes me think it's your display cable
ive switched it and its the same thing pretty much
iirc turning off tsr and other upscaling methods and changing 3d resolution did help a lot
oh and prob want to try vsync and/or gsync
also the easiest way to figure out if it's software or hardware would be to just record in-game footage with any capture software, if the recording looks fine, it's monitor settings, if recording looks wrong, it's in-game settings
would swap display cables for that
yeah I did that yesterday, still doing it just not as bad
may be monitor issue with the port then
anyways you can record with instant replay on adrenaline, once you enable desktop capture and window capture, go in-game, do something that causes artifacts and fortnite looking weird, record it, and check the recording and see if it looks weird on the recording or not, can go frame by frame there to see if what the game is giving you looks right or not
what should I do abt the fortnite settings
do whatever you have right now or what looked best so far
what we don't want on in general:
motion blur, TSR, FSR, DLSS, anything super resolution, anything upscaling, anything 3d resolution below 100%, anything resolution below monitor resolution, TAA, anything frame generation
are there some optimal settings I could put on?
LIke I just dont understand why this is happening to my pc
It should be all new
optimising performance is going to be separate from testing this
blame game developers being lazy
Is it because its too nice??
every game now wants to have upscaling and framgen so they don't have to do optimization
so that it looks 'good enough' when you can't get that performance natively
should I look up 9070XT settings then?
what
for fortnite
just do medium settings, disable anything upscaling or taa or whatever and go from there
the point right now is not to get optimized settings yet, you can do that later once the game looks good
you can look around r/f TAA to see some of the stuff that happens with TAA and some with upscaling and how that affects image quality
would link it but server filter
anyways first record gameplay and check the recording, that way you can isolate if it's something to do with the monitor or actually just game settings, go from there and either mess with monitor or game settings
those are still the most likely possibilities
It looks fine right now ish
playable
I dont inderstand why i couldnt look up best fortnite 9070 xt settings
shouldnt it be the same??
Best is gonna be subjective and you really shouldn't be looking at what other people likes without figuring out what you don't like first
like for example framgen plus turning down 3d resolution is going to get you the best fps possible but it looks terrible
You can look at and try other people's settings but don't be surprised if something in their settings makes it look bad in your opinion, and just be prepared to change that setting, after you figure out what you don't like
I just dont want it fuzzy anymore
Why are you trying to hyper optimise for a specific gpu
We've already told him how to make it not blurry but I guess reading through each Fortnite option is too much
This with a used gpu
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/TPWB9C
cpu link
https://a.aliexpress.com/_mO24moL
Part List - AMD Ryzen 5 7500F, BitFenix Nova Mesh M ARGB MicroATX Mini Tower
Can swap case if you prefer a diff aesthetic
$330ish for gpu probably means a 6700xt
If you can stretch budget for a $400-450 gpu you might be able to snag a 3080/6800xt/7800xt
Fuzzy? Sounds like you have like fsr performance enabled
We've already told him to turn of any TAA, TSR, DLSS, XESS, FSR, and set resolution to 100%

Who made that listing
cuz
With a 6700xt should I go 1440p or a 1080p monitor
What games do you play
So would you say mostly competitive games
Yeah
What’s your budget for a monitor
?
Around 130
Seen the acer nitro 1440p for around that didn’t know if I should get that or a 1080p though
You want a monitor with a high refresh rate for competitive games
Anything north of 144hz
Okay thank you
Is upgrading to 4000mhz even worth it when I have 3600 ram?
Most people won’t notice the difference.
It seems there isn’t much of a difference between cl30 and 36 but the guys showing the difference did not show 0.1% lows
This is my build would having the 5800XT make a significant improvement than the one I currently have ?
No, not really
Besides a 5700X3D would probably be cheaper
And provide a bigger uplift (assuming you also upgrade the GPU/
@tawny violet I was told it would if I wanted to game & stream so i figured I'd ask you guys first
Yeah i plan on upgrading my gpu today as well just dont know what yet
The 5700X3D would be a significantly better pick for you
The 5800XT is just a slightly binned 5800X
The 5700X3D has 3d Vcache which is godlike for gaming
What would be a better uplift to go with for GPU?
Yeah 5700x3d is still able to do quite a bit more multi core compared to the 5600x despite the lower clocks
Would be better overall
What monitor you got rn
I think he was saying it because of the price
240Htz
240hz what tho
I know i looked and i was like... 😭😭😭
1080p?
Yeah sorry!
To stream and game ?
I got a 6700xt and it is at that 200hz area, until I go 1440p and the frame rates go down
I always drop frames when i try to stream and game at the same time
You aren’t giving enough headroom for your graphics card to do both gaming and streaming properly
So you need to set a frame rate cap
How do i go about that
It is in the game settings but you have to know what frame rates you typically get so you can lower it
So lets say you get 170 fps
Damn son

Im saying 😭
Are your stream settings too demanding?
Its DeadbyDaylight so i dont really like to think so lol
My bad I meant stream settings
Oh i misread
Bit rate, encoder quality etc
Possibly
But my stream comes out blurry if i tweak it down
Which i understand that would be more on the internet speed
40 and thats all my internet provider offers with their top speeds☹️
Have you ever checked task manager while streaming to see if you are hitting that limit
I always have task manage up when i do and my GPU will always be 100% and CPU sometimes gets up there as well
Damn if the cpu is getting pegged then maybe that could be what it is
So would you say this wouldn't be a bad option?
Imo internet shouldn’t be a problem because streams aren’t too high of a bit rate
I know its a banger deal but I still think you should consider the x3d
How much more is it
What about for GPU with the specs that I have?
Like 100 right
Yeah 100 more
Well how much are you willing to spend? In my opinion I think its ok for what you have
1500
Well you can resell the 5600x and then spend roughly the same amount as the 5800xt ya feel me
Oh damn I thought you were tryna get something for as cheap as possible
1500 is a whole pc
Yeah i want to get a 50 series or 9070 XT
Stock for those kinda brutal rn

Otherwise i might buy this 4070 super that my cousin has
I can make a list for you in a bit
Hes checking the dimensions for me if it'll fit in my case
Maybe someone else might beat me to it
this could be a play if he'l sell it to you for a reasonable price
Okay
with $1500 I'd probably go for a new am5 build rather than upgrading your am4 build
So getting a new mobo and get ddr5?
Whats a solid am5 build
probably something like this, plus whatever (likely used) gpu you end up finding
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/HLby9C
Part List - AMD Ryzen 7 7700, SAMA ARGB-Q5 MicroATX Mini Tower
might be able to get a 7700 for cheaper via aliexpress, used, or a bundle somewhere
everything after the ? can go
In games it is not much faster, but it is in other workloads
So encoding for example
Oh fr
Oh wow
Yeah that goes hard
@obsidian wigeon idk if you remember me but i got new ram because my pc wasn't posting. It's not posting still 😵💫
Corrupt windows file or maybe Nvidia or something?
This was my old post if anyone else can help. Idk if foxy is around: So i am completely stuck and don't know what to do anymore. So pretty much I gave my girlfriend my old pc to play her games on while I do my own thing. I had it working and she was playing on it. On Monday she was playing on it on and off all day. Probably turning it on and off everytime she would stop playing it. She called me the first time saying that windows was saying her pin was wrong when it was exactly right to login in. So she changed it and got in and started playing it. Then a few hours later she turned it off again to take a nap. After the nap she tried to get back on and it wouldn't even post and the keyboard and mouse wouldn't turn on. I reset the cmos and I got it to post into the bios. But right after the bios goes away it goes black again.
Could it be a cpu problem? 🤔
if there aren't any important files on it I'd probably just wipe and do a fresh windows install
Is that my only option? Because idk what all i have on here still.
maybe a windows repair via usb or something? not sure
the combination of the pin issue and it not going past bios just makes me think windows is cooked
What you can do is take the drive out and put it in an enclosure to pull out whatever is on there
Do you also think it's windows?
I just thought about it. And I don't think i have anything I need on it. I haven't used it for over a year now.
I might just wipe it
It's just crazy that the keyboard or mouse isn't lighting up either. Would windows be causing that aswell?
That is certainly strange
So were you able to go into bios more than once after that
If you can repeatedly go into bios then it might be windows
I have to reset cmos to get into bios. Otherwise it won't post
So you have to do that every time to go into bios
It might not be windows then if that is the case
Would one of my ssd be bad?
I dont think so because you would not have to reset cmos all the time
If you had a bricked drive it would probably not boot into windows or if it would it would be crashing constantly or in read only mode
Try this
I don't think it's the cpu or motherboard because it wouldn't turn on at all if they were bad.
Reset the cmos again but go into the ram settings and make sure that you are running at base speeds
Depends. It could turn on but wont do anything
Depends on what is broken
Show memory speed option
What is the speed of the kit
3600
Ok try that
Do I need to do anything else?
Lets just try that for now
Save changes and reset?
I guess that 120 drive is the windows drive
Yup
I've had it for a long time
Show csm and secure boot
I mean that stuff is probably on already but just to be sure
Alr boot and see what happens
Where did you see secure boot?
It was below csm
But I assume its on already
Since thats the default setting anyway
It looks like i can choose it
Boot now? Lol
Yea
It looks like other OS disables secure boot if I'm reading it right.
Going for it
That's a nope
Nutty
What now?
Yeah try that
Pressed F1 and it took me right back to here
So it still does it
Really weird how default settings dont work
Ok what if you try putting the ram in different slots
What if i do this?
No way!
I mightve gotten it
If i did the discord settings and went straight into it
Like if I didn't save the settings
Weird I wonder what setting was messing things up.
Haven't seen this post before. Are they forcing me to go to windows 11 now?
2400 lmao
Ok so I guess the ram speed is what is triggering it
You said you got new ram
Are both kits 3600
Yes
Both say 3600
I'm scared I'm gonna mess things up. So I need to have a buddy hold my hand now ig. Lol
Yes I've done this before but not taking risks lol
Uh actually I don't remember this part at all. Lmao
Well it looks like i haven't updated my bios since 2022 😅😂
Welp it keeps saying this and idk why... so I'm gonna go to bed now.
Sorry I was gone
You put that asus b450 file on a fat32 drive and update it
Maybe it didn’t flash because of the drive format

Be like that sometimes
Mine is old too
Like year and a half
Bot removed it too fast I couldn’t read it

I hate it with a passion!
Lol
Well I'm going to bed so I'll have to figure out the drive situation the next time I'm free.
I don't remember what I said but it was probably something like that
Nah thats pretty brutal
All good
Update on the rig that loves crashing as much as I love Dr Pepper. I finally had some time so I updated bios to the latest from msi for the x670p WiFi and ran some Apex Legends. It was fine for a bit but I changed the option for Vsync from triple buffered to off and after I applied it my pc froze and crashed with a millisecond flash of a blue screen 2 seconds later, then I got a solid white VGA light on with no boot. Any ideas? Is it my gpu crashing and blue screening my pc?
I did buy the gpu used supposed to be excellent condition from a supposedly trustworthy seller but still i think its a reference model of something from power color so its got to be old
PowerColor Rx 6700xt reference gpu
All I did was right click on my background 😭
Can someone help me with a 400$ pc build
For gaming?
Your best bet will likely be a used office PC that can fit a gpu
That’s what I thought
Or maybe just a used build off of fb marketplace or craigslist
Issue with the office PC route is that you're often limited to a gpu that doesn't need a pcie plug
Is this a monitor issue or pc issue?
no more rgb/fan control software for a while lmao

record it and see what's on the footage
if it shows up on the footage, software, if not, hardware
either way most likely monitor
I'd borrow a different monitor and cable from someone to test with
or get something you can easily return, or bring the PC to someone with another working monitor and test it there
i recognize the comic in th background of the thumbnail
classic xkcd
Did you try rma your i5
I did get the RMA started, no message back though
How long has it been
Damn bruh they aired yo ass
Ikr 😭
What I was gonna say was they would swap it out for you and then you can sell the new cpu
Then swap over
Are you on ddr5
Ddr4 😭
Ah
That’s kinda why I want to switch
Same situation as me
7800 xt is a good card, good enough to wait for prices to drop to upgrade later
Probably 9070 in the future
Well I’d like to sell it now cause people are always trying to find a used card at a good price, I could sell it for what I got basically
This deadass sounds like a scam but I could literally ship you one
I work at UPS lmao
Nahh I don’t have the budget for it
I appreciate it
It is great value but I don’t play the newest games. I don’t really need it
Even a 9060 xt would be very fast for me
😭
They have a 7900xt for 600$ if I buy a CPU but
It’s out of stock, 100$ more for something that’s close to 2x performance
my microcenter has the b650 gaming X AX V2 for 81$ open box, there’s like 8 of them that are like that saying “incomplete”. I could buy a used 7800x3d for 350$, and buy 6000 cl36 for 60$, totaling to 497.75 after tax, or I just buy all brand new for 541.86
Is anyone willing to review my build list and tell me if the parts are compatible and what else I will need with it?
yes
please post parts list
Do you want a picture or the link?
that is uhh
tell you what
what's your budget
and what are you going to use the pc for
and I'll whip up a new list for you
Just general use. I will be using it for normal people stuff, home automation, security, as well as possibly some entry level gaming. I’m not looking to go crazy at all. Just need a pc that is decent
Budget less than 1000 would be great but 1200-1500 is doable.
I really wouldn’t be gaming on it any time soon so gaming isn’t really needed. I could always build another if I want to do that.
ok that makes things a lot easier
the current market for graphics card is...
very stupid
cards that used to be $300 go for $500-600
Wow
what would the normal workload be like?
Normal would be just using it to work along with homepass and such. My 3d printer. And I may use it to go back to school if I decide to go back to further my degree
may I suggest a laptop?
what will you be streaming?
With like Emby. Some stuff would be in 4k
I was looking at 12th gen i7’s
so it's more of a home server kinda machine?
Exactly
Okay
14600K at $212 has 14 cores around the same price as a 12th gen i7
so if you're say
running a proxmox server on it
you'll have plenty of cores to run vms
Okay
how many 3.5" drive bays would you prefer?
2 or 3 would do the trick but would it be better to go with 2.5 for the SSD’s?
You are the smart one here lol just a thought
I would start with just one but I’ll probably end up with 2
I'll select a case with two 3.5" drive bays
the motherboard has enough slots for 3 NVMe ssds
Okay
possibly more
and that would be
Part List - Intel Core i5-14600K, SAMA 3509 ATX Mid Tower
$658.57
it's actually practically identical to your first list
but half the price
Oh dang that’s much better lol
plus you get more cores
oh yeah there's no gpu
I've also delibrately selected an intel cpu with an integrated graphics
since Intel's QSV is very efficient at encoding/decoding video
great for streaming
Okay, so no gpu needed?
unless you want to game on it
Nope that’s good for me.
would you be running the pc 24/7 actually
I might swap out the power supply if that's the case
Yes it could be on for long periods of time
You’re the best. Now what extra stuff will I need?
No wires or thermal paste or anything? That would do it all
Okay
we could make the build smaller if you'd like
Nope I’m cool with that. That’s a great price and it sounds like it would work well
All the wires come with?
since you get to install more SSDs with that Z790 motherboard
yes
Okay cool. How do I get around paying for windows?
well that's the best part
you don't have to do anything
you just download the ISO from the official website
install windows as normal
and just not activate it
you'll have a watermark in the corner but there are ways to get rid of it
Okay awesome. I pm’d you. I will let you know how the build goes. I really appreciate the help
Thank you
Hey quick question: should the assassin spirit 120 evo be enough cooling for a ryzen 9 7950x3D? Looking for a second and third opinion because i'm getting mixed feedback.
Get aio
Its too late i just need to know how important itll be to upgrade
yo
i need some help
i have 5 thermalright c12 fans that use up about 0.2 amps per fan. i have a gigabyte x ax mobo and was wondering i require a argb hub as i dont wanna overload the headers
the motherboard has teo argb headers
I have been trying my hardest to do research for the perfect pc and got great recommendations from here, but a couple people recommended this build to me, what do you guys think?
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/Rj2NDj
(Previous two builds I had saved)
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/PF8wpK (Should be first build concept)
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/MJffGJ (Should be second build concept)
Need to know which exact mobo, there's many x ax models, but generally it's 1a per header, so if you have 2 headers you'll be fine
Part List - AMD Ryzen 5 5500, Radeon RX 580
How can I make this 350$?
I’m building it for a friend and the eh have a tiny budget
Looking at the first list, it's generally fine, a good number of places where you can save money without losing much, like north xl is a good but very expensive case, if you like the looks and are willing to pay, it's fine. You can save ~$50 on the mobo without losing much, you can get a 850w core reactor ii and save $40 there, etc
Go used lol
AliExpress maybe
Idk
U should look at the list
And see if there’s anything I can get for cheaper
Having a budget in that range makes anything new not very good value lol
Used or AliExpress parts is gonna be how you get good value
Yea
One option might be just going iGPU only
Like cloud gaming?
Current gen AMD igpus are decent enough for light games
And then you can use cloud gaming for anything intensive
The most intensive game they want to do is cod
please take your time on responding since you are also talking with someone else and I am in no rush, but as long as it is within budget i am fine with it, so other then savings here and there you think it looks good?
Cod ain't gonna work well on iGPU so I'd try to get something used local if you could, maybe look around for something refurb
I live in the middle of no where
A lot of part selection is going to come down to what offers better value for the price, but in general just be very careful with making sure you get a GPU at a reasonable price
Part List - AMD Ryzen 5 5500, Radeon RX 580, Zalman T3 PLUS MicroATX Mid Tower
shoot i forgot to mention i have a 3 fan argb aio
also thermalright
The 580 isn't even driver supported anymore
9070xt at MSRP ($600) is incredible value, but the only real ones in stock online are gonna be ~$900 and not worth it
Does it work ?
The ryzen 5 3600 would be a better pick
Alr
I have been told that as well, thank you. One final thing, I was told that this build is about same power (giving up like 10% cpu power), but a couple hundred cheaper, could you recommend it over the previous one I gave?
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/MCDNDj (New cheaper list)
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/Rj2NDj (Previous list you looked at)
It’s not zen3 and it’s only 1$ less
It will work but with any newer games you will likely have some bugs/performance issues, just what happens with these really old gpus now. So I'd recommend getting a better gpu, RX 6600 would be a good cheap option
3600 has gen4 pcie and 16mb more cache
Budget is meant to be 350$ and it’s for older games
So it’s better?
The 5500 is the one of the worst zen3 chips, on average 3600 beats it
Assuming bundled deal, it's just a matter of what bundles are available at any time, there's some 9800x3d bundles out there too, look around at microcenter if you live near one
Yeah thats what they recommended, I live about 2 hours away from one but if the deals are seriously worth it I would be willing to drive that far
the 5500 has like 1/2 the l3 cache which really hurts it. The 3600 is better
And no gen4 for drives and gpus
5500 only good for memory OC since it's just a cut down 5600G
Monolithic
On average 5500 is still better, it's a whole step below anything Zen 3 and it loses to 3600 in some benches, but it still better on average
$140 rx580 is also not good at all. I'd grab a 5700xt for $100-120
No mesh shader just get rx 6600
2hrs isn't terrible, look around for bundles available at your specific store with 7800x3d/9800x3d
those are more expensive and this dude is trying to spend $350
yeah alright
thanks a bunch
If there's no 9800x3d bundles and there are good 7800x3d bundles, then yea going 7800x3d makes more sense
$350 is console money
But if there's 9800x3d bundles within like $100-150 of 7800x3d bundles, it's more of a toss up of what you want
Just save at least $500 can easily get a console killer that is worth it for that much
7800x3d bundle is 500$ rn 👀
Trying to play cod and only having 500gb of storage....? I don't think that's going to end well
9800x3d bundle is 650-700 rn, not worth it imo
I'm just gonna leave it up to them and what bundles they have available to them at their local microcenter
How do I add that drive to the build
It’s not coming up when I look it up
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/9sVTDj can someone add a motherboard and ssd that keeps the price under 375?
Part List - AMD Ryzen 5 3600, Radeon RX 580, Zalman T3 PLUS MicroATX Mid Tower
A little above is fine
U can also change the case or any other parts to save
Yup at best it is a 3600
Strange addition really
I think this is the absolute lowest you can really go. You're far better off buying used
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/bN2NDj
Part List - AMD Ryzen 5 3600, Radeon RX 580, Zalman T3 PLUS MicroATX Mid Tower
Below 375 def gotta go used
Ok I’ll look into used then
What game are you trying to play
It’s for a friend and it’s mainly Minecraft Fortnite rocket league
And they said cod but that’s not doable in this budget
They have one so I’m not sure why they want pc
Other than to do Minecraft Java
I will tmmr
I really wouldn’t get a pc at that low of a budget
It’s possible yeah, just will be worse than console
in 2024 sure
not in 2025
the market is so screwed you can't get cheap builds like that
Yeah
I dunno if lowend used market is really that bad tho'
even at peak 2025 it's difficult to get a $400 build t tbh
No
trimmed link https://www.newegg.com/p/3D5-002D-00071
No no no no
https://www.newegg.com/p/3D5-002D-00071?
shortened
I have no clue what the cpu is
4100
A ryzen 3?
Not good
Yea I thought
there's also an A320 in there so
not like it can run much better cpus anyways
just stick with console really
budget builds is one thing
budget builds in 2025 is another
^
but if you get a pc this budget you're wasting $300 for console-like epxrience which
is quite literally a waste of money considering you have a console
A 400$ pc is gonna be worse than a decent console
Nah
New Gen console yeah
I mean in current
well it is possible in current market conditions tbh
but there's going to be a lot of corners cutting
so much that I'm not going to recommend it
I lowkey don't think used lowend is that affected
A 400$ pc can beat a series x?
absolutely
no lmao
with all used parts
Isn’t series x like good tho
it's not that good lmao
series X is roughly an rx 6700
see it's possible it's just extremely annoying to find the parts
if you can find a 5700XT for $160 or so
Yeah no way a 400$ pc is beating that
a 5700XT is not close to a series X lol\
I’m seeing it’s equal to a 6800 and a 3700x
nah, the gpu is closest to a 6700 non xt
Ah
RTX 2080 might be possible
will have to gimp the hell out of the main pc
used 6700 might be around 2080 price tbh
actually series X might be closer to 6700t and ps5 is non xt
https://www.ebay.com/itm/205423293178?_skw=rtx+RX+6700&LH_ItemCondition=4
https://www.ebay.com/itm/186382892541?_skw=dell+precision+e5+26&var=694433137987
insanity build
dead end platform
pretty sure that cpu is gonna get destroyed by zen 3
multi thread it still kinda holds up
but single thread it'll get absolutely screwed
and even then, 200+250 is not 400
I'm just showing how it's possible
also the $200 dell is only 256gb
it's not meant to be an actual recommendation
it just shows that if you browse the used market enough you may find a combination of parts that may resemble the performance of a console
that would depend on a lot of luck
but it's not impossible for $400
not the most scientific but this shows that intel getting pretty whooped by the 3600
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=azdJWYRiBmE
Ryzen 5 3600 [VERSUS] Xeon E5-2640 v3 , with RTX 2080 Ti at 1080p
#ryzen53600 #xeon #rtx2080ti
that's not the point
It just shows that it's possible to get a console-ish experience for $400
not that the specific parts I chose were actually viable
I'd believe 450, definitely 500
plus now that i'm looking at ebay listings, there are $350 series X consoles
facebook marketplace might have better results but that's a very regional based market
