ok team, all is good. Thank you very much for the help.
What fixed it?
new psu
yeah 🙂 Me too. I'm glad nothing else died with it too lmao.
Dead psus are always scary
Sorry this is late but yes
I have updated to windows 11
may have to reinstall everything separately again
if you downloaded 7zip before, I'd remove the app and install again
any white psu I can buy I really wanted sleeve cables but it seem it doesn't work out
Part List - AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D, Radeon RX 7900 XT, Antec C5 ARGB ATX Mid Tower
850 or 1000 for future proof i guess
You won't see the black much, the only other white options I suggest are
https://pcpartpicker.com/product/V7tLrH/msi-pro-b650-a-wifi-atx-am5-motherboard-pro-b650-a-wifi
Only if you need white pcb
https://pcpartpicker.com/product/vHNscf/asrock-b850-steel-legend-wifi-atx-am5-motherboard-b850-steel-legend-wifi
Yeah, gv1000 was $110-120 for a good while but oos sadly
Cheapest white 1000w now
https://pcpartpicker.com/product/kDvD4D/corsair-rm1000x-shift-1000-w-80-gold-certified-fully-modular-side-interface-atx-power-supply-cp-9020275-na
well i have it already built but just want all white lol
come with white cable right?
Yep
which one
Uhhh
or is it the same
Prob the steel legend
It won't make much of a difference but you get an extra m.2 and wifi 7
And i think a better imc
I will just keep my other mobo, too lazy to remove everything out, I will buy the 1050w psu
anything I should upgrade or plan to upgrade or everything in that list is fine
Stop
GF A3 now bomb
@shut rampart do not buy gf a3
so buy what lol
Any other suggestion he made
sleeve cable doesn't like my psu
Le sadge
RMe 2025 is good
@shut rampart https://pcpartpicker.com/product/h4qNnQ/lian-li-edge-gold-850-w-80-gold-certified-fully-modular-atx-power-supply-eg0850g-white
or
Corsair RM1000x SHIFT 1000 W 80+ Gold Certified Fully Modular Side Interface ATX Power Supply (CP-9020275-NA)
Cheapest one I can dee
yeah
oh
850 max
This is the cheapest nicest I can see
I wonder if I buy a new psu and plugin the sleeve cable would it work
U told me the snow was safe:p
lol both the ram and the mobo are part of the bundle with the cpu
I do not remember this
Cos I def remember saying it was a bomb
Lol
Well I guess that explains why it's cheap
We had a convo a while back abt it just being the regular gf a3 not the snow, I could be misremembering
Not saying you're wrong just pulling your leg
No, the extensions aren't compatible
Would it fit
Hmmm
It'll fit
What u mean can’t compatible?
C5 fits up to 240mm
You can't just plug extensions straight into a psu
They jumble up the pins
It'll blow up the pc

No the psu cable to the sleeve
I wonder if it’s a psu problem lol
If you keep having consistent issues with it I dare wonder
Yeah I’m going to try after I buy it
Have you tried changing the psu cables instead
No
Try
I don’t have white cable laying around
If you have spares it might do something
Oh felix, if I forgot to plug an ssd in and turned a pc on plugged in to a TV, it should still boot right?
I tried two different tvs and then realized I forgot to plug sata power in
Yes
Just won't detect
Hm weird
Welp time to buy a new psu
Nice to see the edge is a good price
@mossy venture it's basically AGL with 180mm limit, sleeved cables
Worth the $30 extra easy
Good unit like we hoped for
Go check the hwbusters review of it. He says it's quiet running
The edge or agl?
Hey anyone with Lian Li O11D Evo RGB case in here that can help me?
I'm trying to put the larger top panel back on, and I can't seem to get it to fit. It starts to slide on right, and then gets stuck on something maybe a centimeter short of being on all the way.
Can I send pictures in this chat?
I believe either Teamgroup mp44 or Klev cras c910
Yes
Ok cool, I'll send pics of the issue in a second
Part List
Not sure if mp44 Q or L is better but I think I've seen the Q reccomended more
MP44 > MP44Q > MP44L
Thanks guys
Apparently the 44 and 44Q has the same controller
Any idea where the Cras comes in? I saw someone reccomend it here a few times
No idea sorry
No worries
MP44Q is more than enough for a gaming rig anyways, and priced very close to the c910
Iirc it's a mid range nvme
So it's good enough for 99% of use cases
It's priced pretty competitively
Nvme's being back around $50/tb is nice
MP44Q goes up to 7400 read, it's pretty decently high end
Whats with these "style" options on amazon
7400 read, 6500 write, so not quite a high end but pretty close
Q is TLC at least according to pcpp
I'd take that over a 980 every day
This is for the 44Q btw
Oh teamgroup site says it's QLC
Klevv Cras c910 According to their site:
sequential
Read 5,200 MB/s
Write 4,800 MB/s
"Strictly-selected 3D TLC NAND Flash"
Is there a computer or a mini prebuilt that can beat the Mac mini in like musics (Logic Pro/garageband) and similar things? Kinda like google docs or Microsoft excel?
Cause I’m having a hard time finding specs that go up against the M4 chip
Not if you want it to cost less
If the application is optimised for the M4 it's very powerful
It's competitively priced too
By apple standards
Well it’s 500$ with edu discount
👀
Worth it
Idk if it could be cheaper through school
I use mine for AI
Great homelab machine tbh
It was planned for at home, but my dads “portable” computer too
oh no
I've seen it on sale for $500 before. Was on best buy though so edu discount probably wouldn't be there
not the "portable M4" setup
Well it’s from home and to his work
Can it run off usb pd
And its not like international work or whatso
Pretty sure M4 is unbeatable for the price as long as 256gb is enough for you
Nope
I think it's semi proprietary
Is it?
No no no no
everything apple is proprietary
You CAN upgrade your M4 Mac mini's storage to 2TB youself. It's not hard.

- iFixit Ma...
There are places you can buy a modded drive replacement, but it is NOT a normal m.2
They don't have a controller on the stick for the drive, it's in the CPU
External ssd enclosure?
This is what I would do. idc to open my Mac Mini
Yeah you can use external storage if you don't mind
Jeff Geerling (reputable source) used this to upgrade his drive. 2TB for $300

Orders are hot as well as Chinese New Year holiday is approaching, we will close the shipping on January 19, 2025 early morning Beijing time, you can buy as normal, but the package will be sent out after February 10, 2025 in order, please be informed. 한국 구매자에게: 개인 통관 코드를 확인할 수 있도록 성함을 한글로 기입해 주세요. Every piece of our mo
Fully proprietary except for the interface, which appears to be the same as M.2 but it's not
yeah you mentioned that the controller is on the CPU and I'm like "oh that makes sense" loll
Yep nothing but NAND packages on the stick
Your CPU dies, the whole system dies lmao
I was wondering what that lil white spot in the middle of the m.2 too was
But ya I was looking into the guts of the mini
Although the heatsink is small, it’s not like it’s a thermal power house
Though it looks aluminum heatsink
While the m4 Pro has copper and aluminum
Apple rates the base m4 chip at 65W max
M4 pro goes up to 140
As long as it's on a solid surface I wouldn't worry abt thermals
Put a PA120 on it
Oh ya that’s fine then, I couldn’t find anything about wattage anyways
Your battery died, that'll be $4000 for repairs because we can't change the battery without also swapping the motherboard which has the CPU and RAM soldered to it, and the display cable will break when we do that so you need a new display too
Passive cooled M4
Apple silicon is quite efficient
Another issue is if any of the ram dies
Apple "genius" bar vs one persian guy with an engineering degree
or some other small controller
Your ddr5 LP7500X or whatever soldered into the chip is going to cost you 200$ per 8gb
nuts
Might have to call all of the colleges in my area and see their prices 🤑
Isn’t the Mac mini like $600
The base model yes
The fact they charge an extra $200 to go from 256GB to 512GB is insane
Or $400 for 1TB
Literally 10x market price
It's proprietary
Right Apple
It looks like M.2 but it's not, they just used the same connector
What speeds are they
I mean ima be real for a casual computer user or college student it’s hard to beat a mba
So gen 4 speeds
If the mba was 512gb base it’d be even harder to beat
For the price
It’s just kinda better than comparable windows laptops
Unless you need windows
selling gpu and cpu with pickup, should I do anything to ensure they don't get messed up with static electricity or something?
mostly just wondering if I'd need antistatic bag for them
Ideally use original packaging but static electricity is not a big concern
no original packaging, but if static is not rlly that big of a deal can I store it in some box with some type of paper towels to prevent them from moving around so much?
Paper towels will shred as things shift around
If they're just picking it up in person then just a standard cardboard box works fine
Might be a good idea to wrap it with a clean towel or something temporarily until you hand it off
Next time you buy a cpu I highly recommend keeping that little plastic cpu carrier, and tossing the box
Also if you have a 3d printer, you could also 3d print a cpu carrier
Ltt does this, as well as a few other tech youtubers
That CPU clamshell sells for like $5 on its own because people always toss them out
Lmao
I've updated the design of the original CPU display case set that I posted! On top of that, a new 37.5mm x 37.5mm case has been added to the set that will fit LGA77x and LGA115x CPUs from Intel. Updated design features include a size label embedded into the case itself, chamfered corners to make the lids fit better (though they're far looser now...
Found this because I was looking at fbm for Mac minis.. he has a m4 for 575$, checked his profile and he was selling this
What part of that is 2024 because that looks more like 2022 to me
One of the worst sticker placements ever
Not parallel with the case
Haphazardly placed
And if you look into the case
It looks like the cpu connector cable is next to the motherboard pin connector
Also wow
Just zoomed into the case
That has got to be one of the worst cable management jobs I've seen
Fr
Didn't even try
Like I’m going to keep it real
I don’t even think the motherboard connector is in the right spot
It looks so out of place
like you said not so parallel
No wonder it's marked down to $600, it basically needs to be completely rebuilt because they're clearly not good at this
It's a decent enough deal at that price but with the caveat that you should tear it down and rebuild lol
More like back from the dead with how it looks
I love the deepNOTcool cooler
should I buy it over the mac mini 😭
cause 499 + 8.375% sales is uhhh
Tbh it looks ok if you embrace fal's words
Apples to oranges comparison there
541$ vs 600 flat
Mac mini vs windows desktop is more about what you'd use it for
There has been alot of mac minis
Which year you talking about
I had to tear my pc apart last year because the cpu cooler mount on the back of my motherboard fell out when I installed the thermalright lga1700 corrector
so i'm more than willin
was talking about it earlier with the m4 for 500$
I don't think it's the right motherboard imo
cause it's obviouslt a microcenter bundle
Montech X3
G.skill ripjaws
The parts are fundamentally fine
But it's a wacky ass combo
actually
Only part I'm honestly concerned about is the mobo
this might be a mix and match old syste,
I still can't get over how they got a white PSU with white PSU cables for a completely black build asides from the psu
It looks like a 2021+ white rm
Could've been from an old pc
Assuming they bought around the launch date, but idk why they would sell the PC like a year after it was built assuming they bought it more recently
It looks like pro b650m-p
wait
The psu I also don't see the usual Corsair rm label
So I could be wrong
I see 6 pin audio
6 pin is usually a higher end codec
I love motherboards that put the wifi antennae on the bottom of the IO so it blocks a bunch of USB ports
ofc it's msi
Yep I was just coming to post
B650 p also counts
Ok so it's not total garbage board then
I think it's the P version
That actually looks decent for the price but I wish I knew the psu
cause if i'm not wrong that USED to be the 2023 board till it swapped to gigabyte
for microcenters bundle
well
there's a snippet of the psu here
OEM cables
probably from microcenter imo
were fishing for rocks while this dude pulled all of the cables from the back to the front
Does anyone if not keeping the manufacturer box an item ships in voids warranty? For a monitor to be specific.
like you're saying shipping it out in a separate box?
cause this is my personal opinion, you make a claim cause you shipped it in a different box, gets destroyed, they're going to cancel your warranty
but instead, you get to go after the shipping company you shipped it with
usually RMA requires you to ship the product in either "secure packaging" or "original packaging"
especially with monitors, just throwing it into a box isnt going to be "secure packaging" and warranty may be voided from shipping damage assuming that you didn't put all the precautions to protect the monitor (e.g. just throwing it into a cardboard box with no foam or whatever)
the panel on every type of monitor is fairly fragile
to the point that very large and heavy monitors like those samsung ultrawides kill themselves lmao
For sure, I’ll just keep it then. Rather be safe then sorry. Thanks @dusky hearth @manic cloak
@potent portal @cyan ravine sorry for ping but tell me what’s wrong in this image
Ya no worries, then again you could always lie about what happened
are they using the mobo display out instead of gpu 💀
Yup 😭
😭
wait... are they selling this because the pc performs badly
i wonder

have they been gaming on their igpu all this time and they just think their pc is faulty 😭
That seems likely from what we can see
also
Get it now! PowerSpec 750W White power supplies provide the ideal balance of price and performance. The PS 750BSM provides 750W of continuous power. Rated 80 Bronze for greater than 82% efficiency. Semi-Modular cables for flexibility that are fully sleeved. Includes a 135mm fan for quiet operation.
this is their powersupply
But for all we know the GPU died completely due to a bad PSU and the iGPU is the only way to get image
^
corsairs has the model title above it, assuming it's all microcenter built, this is the one likely
Low C tier PSU
It obviously isn't powering much but.. with cable management like that and display port on a motherboard i'm not surprised.
I wouldn't be surprised either. Half inserted cables aren't just a problem for 12VHPWR after all.
i'll see what he says in the morning
otherwise i'm probably going to avoid that piece of garbage
That's something I might go for and slap one of my spare PSUs into it and redo all the cabling and flip it for $800
Easier to sell when it's not ugly as sin
AHHHH I WAS LOOKING FOREVER FOR THIS
Other than the obvious, the wrap is still on the DP cable
OMG
Oh finally
Ok bad psu
Ok mobo didn't suck only psu suck
For spec it fine doe
That was driving me nuts
like I assumed it's a microcenter build
for all Ik he could of never stuck that DP into the graphics card
wait does the 7700x even have an igpu
alright I was going to say
I'm using mine right now for a secondary monitor
well that also answers my secondary monitor question too
Yep it's a good way to avoid the notorious high idle power draw bug on Nvidia
When you plug multiple monitors into a Nvidia GPU, there's a chance that it locks the memory clock to the highest state even when idle so it draws like 40W for nothing
Higher chances with mixed refresh rates too
Just occasional driver hiccups, get acquainted with DDU and you're fine
the only thing that makes me think that they might have used their gpu prior is that they did remove all the dust caps from the connectors
You need to remove those just to get it to fit in the case sometimes if the back slots are tight
true, that is a possibility, or maybe a friend or family built it but didnt set it up for them?
well if I buy it
either i'm buying a cheap fbm case
or i'm redesigning the whole thing
I would tidy it up
New psu
Then gpu if I needed it
If not flip the cpu, go 7500F, tidy up
Chill
I'd go either way in that situation
is it possible to build a "stream" pc for around $500? preferably less than $500 if it will still be good quality
For my next build I might change all the fans with different ones that have a higher CFM for better cooling. On pc parts you can buy extra fans it’s just Felix might’ve thought that was a stupid idea
Easy 1080p120 stream box https://pcpartpicker.com/list/qh6Bh7
Part List - AMD Ryzen 5 8500G, Cooler Master MasterBox Q300L MicroATX Mini Tower
Assuming you'd be playing the game on a separate computer and using this one just to keep the stream alive in case the gaming PC crashes, things like that
AV1 encoding too which is fantastic for streaming
he could prolly get away with a smaller boot drive too tbh or a lower wattage psu
Yes, if you wanted to pinch the pennies that's possible. I assumed there would be some recordings stored on the drive, and it's not much more than a 500GB drive anyway. As for the power supply... You could technically go cheaper but I wouldn't recommend it. Anything cheaper is going to have fixed cables, which just means a mess since you only need 24 pin and EPS.
And I'm intentionally ignoring the apevia PSUs, most of their stuff is trash
its interesting, always could go with like a 256gb boot drive and find a really cheap 1-2tb hard drive for storing streams or such
the primary reason is because when I used to stream on a 1 pc setup I would get insane packet loss, so im thinking streaming from a separate pc will fix that. The second reason is the boost in performance compared to a single pc setup.
and yea, it would have some recording on it.
You could grab a used 256gb ssd for that route but they're not too much cheaper than 1tb drives new
oh yeah theres a 1tb hard drive from seagate for 32.99
For the penny pinching route you'd definitely go for used or refurbished storage, otherwise just a new 1tb because it's the same price as a 128gb ssd+1tb hdd

Is this case good for airflow?
yeah
Cool I hope it’s compatible for 50 series ti once it get announced
There's no "GPU-case compatibility". The only thing you should worry about is for whether it fits
Hey guys I was just cleaning my PC and though that I should try what I saw in a video not long ago where if you happen to have 4 sticks of the same brand at different sizes so 2 sets 1 at 2x4 other at 2x8 and the video said that I should actually run 1 of each on each dual channel so both dual channels would have the same amount of ram is this correct?
woah
I've bought RAM for several PCs, usually different brands (trying things out, don't know what brands and models are good, etc.) I'm currently running 48GB of memory in one of my servers, two sticks I believe are G.Skill and the other two (again, I think) are HyperX Fury
Runs perfectly fine
One kit is a 2x16GB kit and the other is a 2x8GB kit
@compact light hope this helps
Note ram speeds are gonna be affected as well
But yeah mixing ram isnt as bad as it used to be
^
There still is a large possibility of the PC being unstable when mixing rams
More likely than not, you won't be able to run at XMP when mixing kits
Is my screen broken
I just turned everything on
It was fine before
No problems now it’s do this
On top of this problem downloading the updated bios, mediatek wifi drivers, Bluetooth drivers don’t work
Yes you want both channels to have the same amount of memory so it runs in proper dual channel mode. You probably won't be able to use XMP in this configuration.
the reflection doesnt help but that does look like some connection or something is faulty, perhaps the screen, perhaps the cable, idk
it was fine before now its no
not
but illl try to see if its conncted right
what do you mean by connection
connector or wire, or screen
He means the internal wire
Or connector
Lol
@dusky hearth it reminds me of what my TV looked like when it died
Lmao
lmao
but yeah that kind of artifact on the display isnt really "normal" by any means, so it has to be something going on whether it's just the lcd or lcd driver dying, or a bad signal caused by the wire or connector
everthing is connected
If you don't have a spare cable then I'd warranty it
Even if it's connected, if it's loose or faulty then it's a valid possibility
the fan cable is strdy
and the sata cable is not undone
it was working when i booted it up before too
That's not the point we're trying to say
If the cable is faulty, no matter how good you plug it in, it might not work properly lmao
Electronics die very quietly lad
It just...happens
My ram stick died the other day and I hadn't touched it for 6 months
I turned the pc off
Back on
Dead

That's just how it goes with these things
ye
On top of this problem downloading the updated bios, mediatek wifi drivers, Bluetooth drivers don’t work
7900 xtx
24gb
When it's in stock it's been around $850-900 lately
Or a used 3090
also 24gb
6800, 370 dollars for 16 gigs
is jawa.gg a scam? this is the pc im tryna buy https://www.jawa.gg/product/57892/copy-of-on-sale-custom-gaming-pc-2060
Jawa is fine, they have buyer protection similar to ebay
is that a good budget pc though?
a fair bit better than the other builds you've listed so far, i'd say this would usually be worth more around $400? so $55 more honestly is fine for already assembled
considerably better than the like $250 or whatever those parts are worth for $500 💀
Doesn't really look worth it, I think 2060 is going for around $100 now, the CPU and mobo are pretty damn old and the ram would be limited to only 2400
Yeah thats gonna struggle with quite a few games
If it had like an 8700k at that price I'd go for it
they cant do custom though since they said their mom doesnt want them to build
so a little rough
best to try to find something better still
That's 455+shipping too
oh
So extra oof
right i forgot about shipping
Definitely not my first recommendation
But at $360 I mean
yeah that would be better
On top off the screen being bugged
The water block isn’t even being acknowledged
It’s acting like the pump isn’t there
also lmao the "list price" kinda goes crazy, i dont think that prebuilt brand new was even close to that price
never ceases to amuse me the price that people put on products to make like their current price is the best deal in existence
brand new on release even with the usual prebuilt upcharge that wouldn't be over $1000 lol
even for 360 isnt that worse value than that asus
Yes, bacca's sarcasm can be hard to detect sometimes
Sorry
oh lmao
what are the modern benchmark websites nowadays? I'm looking to compare some CPU's - it's been 4 years since I've looked at hardware to build my last computer. starting up again
Have a gpu question... need advice
Anyone i can message to discuss?
I was recommended to chat with @potent portal and or @mossy venture if either of you have a min that would be awesome.
What do you need advice on?
No, they're both 7900xts, the sapphire pulse is a good model and for a more reasonable price.
I was looking to upgrade from my 3070FE and was recommended the 7900xt. But I'm struggling with which i should go with.
Sapphire is a lesser known brand since they only do AMD cards, but they're still a reputable brand
Pretty sure I'm not getting my hands on a 50 series card and I'm told this is a good option with my older tech pc
Yeah I was told about the sapphire card but is there any mega differance in the 2?
Biggest difference by far is the price
What cpu are you on?
You're definitely gonna be cpu limited, what resolution is your monitor?
1440p
Makes sense to upgrade gpu first
165hz
7900xt is still a great idea but you'll most likely be cpu limited in games, that's all
Tbh might hold on to current system and do a new build when AMD 90xx releases
Thats true, but there's also the counter argument we've no clue what tarrifs will do to the market
True
I plan to do a whole new build in the near future but would like to get a few more years out of this if I'm able
Oh also what power supply do you have?
750 but I'm able to use an 850 if a problem arises
Imo drop a gpu upgrade in, then upgrade cpu whenever you feel like spending the money, and it'll feel like a whole new pc, no need for a full new one
What model?
Corsair rm750x
Any suggestions on a non insanely priced gpu that's going to help me better then my 3070fe
Other than the 7900xt?
Oh yeah fal and mr111 are more knowledgeable than I am, no need to check again, but yeah it's the only card I recommend at that price bracket atm
I mainly sum race and FPS
If you're cool with used you could potentially find a $400-450 6900xt/6950xt
Ok last question. Are there really any difference in all the 7900xt cards?
Very minor differences, sapphire is towards the higher end of them
Ok i lied more questions lol. So price mainly reflects brand?
Not really right now, prices are inflated bc of low stock on a lot of models
Amd was originally planning for a launch early this year but delayed it a few months
Not really but ROG tax is a thing
I see what they did there.
Ok so pretty much find a 7900xt in the price range I'm comfortable paying and as long as it's a reputable brand then I should be safe to pull the trigger?
Oh man. That's going to be a rough find around me. 😕
Oh are you not us based?
Before tax
Pcpartpicker lies
Yeah
660 + 40 some in tax.
So if I find an Amazon around 700$ it's fair assuming free shipping
I dig the white would go good with my build.
sapphire is consistently good
they're pretty much the premium radeon option
all of the 7900XTs should be pretty well built anyways
that's why it's usually a good idea to just get the cheapest one
oh yeah the asrock is the cheapset one
I think I'm gunna pay the extra 40$ and get that asrock. Looks better IMO. But again thank you everyone! I greatly appreciate you all! I know enough to build my own system but not enough to k ow all the details you all helped me with!
The xfx is great
Id save the $40 personally but you can't go wrong either way
why is it hard to find SSD's larger than 2 TB right now? I thought there was a technological limitation but can't recall
they're actually really common these days
is it just me
or have the 4TBs gone back up in price
They just don't have the same price/tb as 1-2 tb drives. Not sure if that's an artificial "premium product" thing or just it's hard to fit that much nand onto the ssd
I guess $216 for the MP44Q is pretty close to the ~50/tb you spend on smaller drives
is there a mfr that is 'considered' better for mobos when looking for functional bluetooth support?
My last 3 computers (technically 2) have had weird issues where even with bluetooth adapters they never worked.
I used setup a lot of computers for work, and the computers out of box that they used... they never had issues with bluetooth
For some reference, I've gone through 2 different USB bluetooth mfr's, I've done pretty much every level of troubleshooting I could imagine on my previous computers. I basically gave up on my current one and decided if it doesn't work, i just won't use the cool bluetooth peripherals I have.
But every time there's a useful bluetooth feature, I have to miss out (like calling from my phone on my computer using phone link).
feel like all i see from motherboards are intel, realtek, mediatek
and of them if i had to choose I have better experience with intel
hmm that's funny i think that's the only type of mobo i've never explicitly purchased.... and those are the ones i see the most at work...
i mean most of the ones used in motherboards aren't the most amazing but they work
all i use bt for is controllers and hadphones
i don't actually see any intel options here...
I have this cool bluetooth connected wireless mouse that goes on as finger rings
works great when i go on vacation, would like to use it while I'm laying in bed.
i mean the baked in wifi is usually just any regular wifi card its usually just hiding under something for aesthetic reasons
wfi don't even work on this pc, but I didn't care since I'm alwayus wired
so are you looking for a card or a new mobo
@analog hearth i feel like i remember something with dell not working with ventoy correctly
Just had to select Grub 2 apparently
ok, good that you got it working
I changed my mind on Arch and went to Manjaro. I pulled a classic "uninstalling the French language" (sudo rm -fr /*) for fun and installed Fedora
nice
Running updates. I might have a third "daily" laptop now 💀
500 usd for a case?
For the whole pc
They have a budget of $500usd, prebuilt only since their parents don't want them to custom build, and they want it to also have a white case
just hite case with hite parts
white*
]they ont lie ebay either because f bad past experience
usually on that budget, parts will be a hodge podge of anything somebody could afford
so youre probably not going to get all white
i meant white case not white parts
mb
sorry for bad spelling i was typing on a steam deck
theyre really strict (even though its my money)
Yeah they've asked several times over the course of a few days since we still couldn't find one that was good enough value and matches the requirements
Would have been alot easier if they could do custom
i found this one but its not very good
https://www.jawa.gg/product/47262/nvidia-gtx-gaming-pc-clean-white-build-with-ryzen-5
CPU Brand: AMD, CPU Series: Ryzen 5, CPU Model: Ryzen 5 2600, CPU Socket: AM4, CPU Core count: 6 cores, CPU Cooler Type: Air, CPU Cooler Socket: AM4, GPU Chipset: Nvidia, GPU Brand: Nvidia, GPU Series: GeForce GTX 1070, GPU Memory: 8GB, Memory Capacity: 16GB, Memory Type: DDR4, Memory Form Factor: DIMM (Desktop), Internal Storage Capacity: 512GB...
Meh, ryzen 2000 kinda mid, though I guess you could upgrade to 5000 in the future
Mid single core
Mid single threaded*
wait what if i can build it only if the cpu and gpu arent used
Also that price isn't good
i asked them again and they gave in but the gpu and cpu cant be used since thats the big parts of the pc
but those are the best ones to get used
Normally people do the complete opposite lol
you can easily get screwed on a motherboard
yeah, used GPU is a lot less sus than used power supply haha
ik thats what i said but they said no
so everything thats safe to be used (thats not gpu or cpu) can be used, like used case and stuff
this is confusing. your parents are telling you what to do with your own money? mine would let me make my own mistakes
i know idk why
Young
you should go convince them to let you make your own mistakes
idk how
so will it be possible to one with somthig like a 2060 or around it?
or a 1660 super
the rtx tax is huge. a 1080ti is like $150 used and its better than the 2060
but its kind of hard not to get these either of these used
and the 1080 is almost 10 years old, and its losing driver support soon
amazon used is good btw because its amazon
but it has just about the worst used prices ever
idk i see a 1660 for 138
idk, im bad at low budget stuff. i just convince people to raise their budget until i can get them a 4060 or something
No, not really
no i meant its good fr y parents so they et me use tat
Oh
for my parents so they letme use it*
Well, Amazon is fine I guess but it's similar to eBay in trustworthiness and has worse value most of the time
oh im new to pcs sorry
oh thank yo
well the things i can go for: used anything besides cpu and gpu (for some reason) and white case
500 budget
Nah who's still buying 2060s 😭😭
broke ppl
mood
like me
also mood
What type of gaming are you trying to do?
I'd still just suggest this
https://www.ebay.com/itm/165837789704?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=FD6px4KaRcK&sssrc=4429486&ssuid=r8em-zv_qyc&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY
nothing too heavy, just valo, minecraft, and roblox
and a little marvel rivals but if it has bad fps its ok
just something to start me off with to upgrade in the future
You could also buy a white case with the extra money from buying that prebuilt
You won't really find anything that's upgradable as far as pre builts go in this budget
i said i could build it
used everything besides gpu and cpu
Not much savings in that front either
this seems good, could i put it in a white case?
Most money saved is from the cpu and gpu
i know idk why they needed me to not get those used
if this is good for the budget i might be able to get it and get a white case if i ask
Can't
OEM build i believe, means mobo psu and case are all incompatible without eachother
damn
Ok there's two options for building yourself
Either an 8000 series cpu with an igpu, it's about on par with a 1650. It can handle some gaming, but nothing intense. You can just drop a gpu in down the line and swap cpus, and you have a whole new pc
Or you can build a pc focused on best overall performance now, but not much of an upgrade path
I would recommend the upgrade path so when your parents stop caring about buying used GPUs, you can buy one to upgrade
ill do the upgrade one
Part List - AMD Ryzen 5 8600G, Vetroo M05 MicroATX Mid Tower
is intergrated grapihcs good? i thought it was bad
With tax its over budget tho
Amds newest igpus are decent
Modern igpus can honestly run quite a bit, I can run hitman 3 on the igpu on the 6900hs that I have lmao
Theyre still behind a decent gpu, but they can handle light games
i can buy a used case, i could cut some down from that
Can definitely run valorant, minecraft and similar
@crimson zinc
Do you have that rm750e link?
Might be a little difficult to find a used white case?
Hold
is there anything to cut budget?
Newegg has a combo savings event going on, I'll get a pcpartpicker list in a sec
ok
Alright so on newegg, add the 8600g, b850m-x, asrock cl750g, and this case to your cart
Total is $410
Wait sorry
Not the b850m-x
Gigabyte B650m gaming wifi
can u make it a pc part picker list for convenience
im too lazy
damn
Part List - AMD Ryzen 5 8600G, Vetroo M05 MicroATX Mid Tower
whats the newegg links?
You can just add the cpu, mobo, and psu to your cart on newegg
I need help, I’m trying to fix the endless problems with my new tower, the first being the motherboard, why won’t it let me update my bios
Discount will come off automatically
why is the psu say 0 dollars
The psu and mobo price are factored into the cpus price i set at $344
oh okay
Because they are $344 for all three
😔
so my amazon cart should be 98 bucks?
Yes, just the ram and case
okay
Ssd and the rest is on newegg
ty man i got an extra 50 is there anything i should upgrade or is that good
444.58 with taxes and shipping
can i buy this pc case instead for better airflow? https://a.co/d/jjOHMCs since i have extra
or is the one i got rn good
@mossy venture
As long as it fits everything go for it
Won't make a difference performance wise
I'd spend the extra on more storage or ram personally
okay
It's your money tho
nono ill upgrade those
ill check if 32 gigs of ram and maybe a terabyte of ram will fit my budget
For the ram all you'll need to do is add a second stick later on
storage*
Or you can get a 32gb 6000c30 kit for $80
Actually one sec
I think it comes out cheaper with the newegg combo
there is a prebuilt for nearly 800$ if you got the extra 300$ to spend! 😭
which one is cheaper to upgrade, ram or storage?
ill upgrade the cheaper one first and save money for the more expensive or later
Honestly either is easy enough, but I'm fiddling around with smthn rq
Theyre both just adding another stick, instead of having to replace something
right but if i start with 512 then upgrade to a terabyte wont i have to reinstall windows and what not?
ohh
So the 7600x has a free 1tb ssd on newegg
It has an igpu, but far far worse than the 8600g
It is about 20-25% better cpu wise though, meaning you won't have to swap cpu, and it has some better sales than the 8600g does it looks like
ill stick with the 8600g
Alr
my steam deck has 256 and im fine with that so
512 gigs should be enough for now
so i should get 32 gigs of ddr5 ram?
Idk if you can spend more than this without going too close to $500 before taxes
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/BYsMTM
Part List - AMD Ryzen 5 8600G, Vetroo M05 MicroATX Mid Tower
is the 8600G a bundle on newegg?
w price (with taxes and shipping) thank you
is there a link for the newegg combo?
Gotta just add the parts individually or on the newegg combo builder
ohhh alright
@sage thunder if i'm correct you didn't want to buy off of aliexpress right?
this is my setup, i got a white deskmat and a white mouse coming. im using the steam deck docked in the photo and ill put my pc in that space under it
i wouldnt personally mind but my parents probably would i got strict parents
they think its stupid
so i cant buy tech off aliexpress
the thing above my moniter was where my tv used to be before i got the new desk so ignore that
7 percent
agh well it's pointless what i'll tell you but aliexpress has 86.19 8400f + the same board you have for 116.99 just no CMOS battery (cause battery goes boom in air shipments)
would of been 217$ after tax
dang
is there a displayport cable i can buy of aliexpress for like 5 dollars? im using hdmi rn so its capped at 60 hertz when i have a 144 hertz moniter
i'm sure there's a DP like that or even on amazon
8600 is a good deal better than 8400 iirc
is the 8400f crappy?
theyre all 7 or above
on amazon
cause I was thinking whatever extra money he had could allocate to a GPU
Its not good
8600g and 8400f aren't too far off eachother
Basically a neutered 8600g
8400f is more restricted but perf wise it's like 5% worse iirc
Isn’t it 2 disabled cores?
Budget really only allows for igpu rn and I think 8600g has a decently better igpu
Is it?
i'm still looking into what the igpu compares to but alr
can anyone link a good DP cable on ali for 5 bucks
From Reddit “The 8400F is pretty poor value, it’s an APU with the graphics cores fused off and has a host of limitations on connectivity and PCI-E lanes.”
itll be a good upgrade from a hdmi
wait
It won't make a difference, hdmi is fine
what about ports that only have hdmi ports
HDMI is fine for even a 4090 lmao
but my 144 hertz moniter is capped at 60 hertz
Thats probably your current pc or whatever you're outputting from
Yeah wait 8400f doesn't even have an igpu I don't think
It doesnt
likely with an xbox if you have?
Thats what the f is
and ive never experienced anything over 60 fps
trust me it isn't much different
im using a steam deck lcd 256 rn
oh
that's probably the reason too
people make it a big deal tho
I’ve used a 75hz monitor for years
i mean ive gotten like 900 fps on my steam deck but i only have 60 hertz so
on low graphics in the void
on mc
minecraft is capped at 60fps btw
for base minecraft it should be
fr
turn off vsync 😭
Boeing if I set you to unlimited does your rolls royce engines explode and we get an inquiry to your death
I swear I read smth about minecraft being capped at 60
Royce RB211 does not explode
You underestimate a monkey with tools (me)
it's been off 😭
It's a 747 not an McDonnell Douglas sabotaged plane (737 max)
dont play on a switch then bro 😭🙏
Again I am a monkey with a toolbox
i'd never buy any game on the switch except pokemon or smash bros
school pc btw
No you’re a pic with a hat
how do i get him off
OI
Y'all still in school?
inspect element only works on edge on the school pcs for some reason
they blocked it
im in computing class in that phoot
Check if Christian mingle or farmers only is blocked
photo*
it is trust
Then check if you can buy a bride from Russia
Cuz my schools didn’t block that
windows is much less efficient than steam os
Is it the apevia prestige that's the cheapest recommended psu?
Yes
im getting it mainly for more games on windows and whatnot
That or abn650
more tweaking tools for other devices on windows
3070 max
I thought i'd be able to cut corners using a 8400f for the build but it's like a spare 65-75$ for a gpu 😭
mkfs.ext4 /dev/sda1
Don't cut corners
You end up with two corners
Instead of one
god dammit
Don’t cut corners with that
it makes sense
At that point, go 7500f
damn you boeing
they raised the prices on the 7500f btw
either cause the 7400f started to exist or something happened
sudo rm -fr ./* yourself NOW!
it's like an extra 20-25$ now
It's a troll metaphor but it's true
$127
Cheaping out where you shouldn't will cost you more long term
That'll be $14.99
All the Ali CPUs have been going up
but it's sold out
plus it's only like 90 sold
guys i heard sudo rm -fr ./* improves my performence on my steam deck because it deletes the french pack that bloatware im gonna try it
why is my screen black
SZCPU has 8600G for $152 before coupons
https://a.aliexpress.com/_mLB8IWr
thing is he can't get anything from aliexpress 😭 it was a what if kinda thing
Ah
is my build still good in terms of budget build?
yes the very original one
believe this one
do you plan on getting 32gb or 16?
16 x 2
so 32
oh
what the
Yeah they seem better, I last checked about a week ago and they seemed oddly high
so do i get this instead of the original one that was in my cart?
cheaper and same speeds n what so
no clue if it's hynix though
I don't have the knowledge on that
Should be with those timings
whats hynix mean… 😢
SP likes M die
Memory chip manufacturer, Hynix makes chips that overclock really well on DDR5
the company who makes the memory
there's hynix, samsung and a few others
I think atleast, maybe for DDR4
On DDR5, as long as it's not Samsung it's good
Samsung has pretty weak performance
Samsung fell off
so is that samsung?
B die is the new C die
Phones, nand, everything they made is mid
I'm placing them below apple in terms of value
is this samsung or no
The ones that everyone has shown so far should all be Hynix
okay
i love my 15 😼
Your what
Most people here know generally how to avoid them. Samsung is common on 6000c36 kits so we target C32 or C30
thanks u saved me like 15 bucks
I meant computers not phones
do you plan on using wifi or Ethernet
Hey guys
incase im too lazy to plug in my ethernet
