- Keyboard is a pass. Barely any major brand gaming keyboards are worth buying at all. People don't go to brands like Corsair or MSI for good keyboards. This one I suggested came from a number of keyboard enthusiasts who build them for a living. Bridge75 and Rainy75. Both way better.
- The monitor is probably the most divisive part if I'm honest. This pc is way overspec for the monitor and committing to this screen, you'd have the same fps results just about with a $900 pc vs the $1500 odd one I put there. Both would show 165hz 1080p. So it's a complete bottleneck for the pc. The OLED I put is an endgame choice. Way way better. Colour, response and latency performance, the monitor is equivalent to several gpu upgrades on it's own. OLED is 1000% worth it if you can afford it
Welcome to ask if you have more questions but I was very specific in the choices for the budget, unless there's some specific need I'm missing here I really wouldn't change anything

@cyan ravine Felix can you make me a gamerboi 7900gre build
Green as much as possible
Budget?
Part List - AMD Ryzen 5 7600, Radeon RX 7900 GRE, SAMA ARGB-Q5 MicroATX Mini Tower
$1500 let’s say
Part List - AMD Ryzen 5 7600, Radeon RX 7900 GRE, Montech XR ATX Mid Tower
Okay I see now thank you :), also what the OC mean on the gpu you put in the list?

So it wouldn’t hurt anything right? Also is there an all black with rgb version of your list that you gave to me? If it’s too much don’t worry about it.
Part List - AMD Ryzen 5 7600, Radeon RX 7900 GRE, Montech XR ATX Mid Tower
13600k was on sale for $170 but went oos
7600 is a much better choice unless it went on a similar sale
I trust Bacca's suggestions so if you want all black this is an option^
New psu on the market?
Atx 3.0 mwe gold from what I can tell
Tbf going with a psu we know more about for $5 more isn't a bad idea
I like adding atx 3.0/12 vpwhr in just for reusability
Oh damn that's a really good list
Assuming the use case is just gaming judging by the cpu
M482 seems new, $100 for 2tb of that is great
It's a cheaper version of the og m482 but I haven't researched it yet
G50 at $106 is a good ssd
What’s the over clock for?
Also for the cpu cooler, I don’t know if you would know the answer to this or not, pcpartpicker says it doesn’t know if the cpu cooler has enough clearance for the ram?
I can tell you it does
Okay thank you 😁
You can move the fan to the other side so it's completely clear
Oh okay I didn’t know that, I thought it had to be in a certain way
It's ok lad, there is a whole encyclopaedia to learn
Easier to google or ask, I know
Lol
Yeah I hate asking so many questions but that’s how you gotta learn I guess 😅
We have a build video in the pins
It'll teach you what to do
Very long but chaptered, so you don't need to watch all of it, just what you need
Is it the one by Linus?
Ye that's the one
Okay I’ll save that in my notes so I can find it when I need to
It lists e27t as the controller still so I'm guessing it's the same but with cheaper nand like ymtc 232l or something instead of BiCS6
What model would have been put its place? I’m asking because I’m saving the list for until I come back and I’ll just check to see if everything is still okay to go ahead and buy it..
Sapphire Pulse
Usually the best option.
also sorry I didn’t see your response earlier, there was a lot going on 😅
May I ask what’s the problem with the xfx one?
Like how loud? 😅
Just noisy in general, not saying like jet engine but you’d obviously hear some whir up
Imagine like a microwave kinda loud?
It’s not going to be loud, but it’s the same loudness as the mmmmmmmmmm
Microwaves are all kinds of loud and quiet
💀
Some like a hmmmmmm
Others BWAHHHHHH
😭

😅
I think a gong is better
I ain't heard of a gong graphics card
Okay so pretty loud
No
It's literally like if you had headphones on you'd barely know
Like, old console kinda whirr, levels
Hmm idk I’ll have to keep doing some research on exactly what I want, luckily I still have to save up while I do so
A simple fan
Desk fan
Idk
The ones that you turn on to cool yourself down
It’s not loud but it’s noticeably louder than most
Okay that’s a lot better comparison 😂
What about buying a buddhist monk
😂
Ngl kinda right track
As long as it's the ones that have 1 speed lmao
Imagine you've just been picked up at a local crop circle by your local UberFO™️ driver
But the sedative they used to tranquilise you didn't work so you woke up
Took a look around
Sounds like that
lmao
uber getting into the space buisness
or maybe they came from space
What's the performance difference between 3600x, 5500, and 5600(x)?
45$ 5500 at Microcenter after coupon deal so..
Would probably be paired with either a 2080ti, 3060ti, or a 6700/50xt
not sure exact performance difference, but between 5500 and 5600 it's 15-20% iirc. haven't looked at benchmarks in a while tho
3600(x)=5500, 5600 is a decent improvement
Why is my PC turning on from sleep mode when i turn on the lights in the room? 😭
Bruh that's goofy
Mans got a short
A UPS to clean up the power might be in order
Yep, i really need an ups. That's for sure. Just have to find a good pure sine one
Sine vs square wave doesn't really matter unless you're using REALLY sensitive equipment. Computers don't fall into that category, power supplies can do cleanup of their own.
What matters more is the type of UPS, not the power it makes. Standby should be avoided, the switching time is awful. Line interactive is better. Double conversion is best but expensive.
Double conversation is also called online right
Correct
That's the best because it's always pulling power from the battery, therefore it's always delivering clean power
Uninterruptible power supply - the OPTI-UPS On-Line durable series DS1000E tower UPS provides true online power for power-sensitive applications, electronic measurement devices, corporate and departmental servers, UNIX servers/workstations, CAD/CAM/CAE workstations, network workstations, ATM, Kio...
Cheapest non-Chinesium one I could find that I would consider suitable
It is loud though, it's designed for server rooms
main downside of those is that they use a bit more energy due to the conversion though
but yeah also always clean power.... well, at least as clean as how good the quality of the inverter is
Line interactive is usually plenty since they often have active PFC to correct voltage fluctuations
I've recommended this one a few times https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07RWMLKFM/ref=twister_B079Z981R2?th=1
Damn
Amazon basics even has a ups
Of course, they are almost certainly just rebranding something
But damn
I didn't know UPSs were mainstream enough for Amazon to brand
If they have disney stuff then they have everything, it's an easy rule of thumb
My Xbox rechargable battery pack is also Amazon basics lmfao
That wasn't even sarcasm 😂
Ong
I went through so many fiber cables for hdmi
Active cables are gross I don't recommend
They are
Well, a couple are
4 are hdmi
Lol
Actually amazon doesn't have one thing
Youtube red
If they had that they'd truly rule the world
Youtube red hasn't existed since like 2015 or whatever
Lmfao
Bro had me dialling up so fast
Mr president, they hit the 2nd subscription
How much of a difference between 5500 and 5600?
3600 is 5500 basically so
Ya it tips like 2% in 5500 favour due to ipc, that's all
Most of the time I've heard people recommend pure sine as if square causes your psu to blow up :p
Thanks for the ups recommendations, I still don't really get the part with W and VA as in the ups rating. It may be because people online share different opinions and I have no idea what is correct
So a solid 5-10% difference
Not bad at all for 45$
12600K makes better sense if the price difference is that big
VA is the battery capacity, W is the maximum output wattage
No the 5500 is 45$ at microcenter after a coupon
Buy one for me while you're there, I need something cheap for my server
Get me one too for my server
@cyan ravine @potent portal Pay for shipping label, send me your coupon and I’ll do it
Hi, my sister wants to get a pc for streaming/video editing and has a budget of 1200 dollars with slight leeway. Can anyone help me out with a build? This is excluding peripherals.
What country, any preferences (black, white, big or small system size, etc,) do you live near a microcenter, when are you building this?
Imo something along the lines of
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/ZPB8Wt
Part List - Intel Core i5-13600K, Radeon RX 7900 GRE, Montech XR ATX Mid Tower
i cannot get jar files to work on my pc
i think the first time i did it i somehow like tried opening it with the wrong thing and now its just broken
Did you set your PATH variable
what is that
Guess that's a no
also when i try opening one it hits me with this
A common cause of that is trying to run 32 bit jars on a 64 bit install, try to find a 64 bit version if that sounds like you
Windows 11?
10
Another way to that window is to open file explorer and right click your pc, and hit properties
Then you'll want the advanced tab
Near the bottom is environment variables
what is the path value
Point it at the folder where you have Java installed (or OpenJDK or whatever you're using)
Specifically the folder that contains Java.exe
This way when something tries to call for Java in the terminal you don't need to manually specify where to look
i dont know where java is installed its just in my file explorer somewhere idk
im sorry i dont understand files at all thats one of my worst things with pc i dont understand like 90% of it lol
its just in my downloads
If you used the default location when you installed Java then it'll be in your Program Files folder
Did you run those to install them?
Then the installation folder will be under C:\Program Files\
Which are you trying to use? The regular JDK or OpenJDK
whatever lets me open a jar file for my minecraft shaders lmao
I'd go with OpenJDK personally
So you'd look in C:\Program Files\OpenJDK\[version]
can i just type that into search this pc
You can type it into file explorer
cause im gonna be honest i have no idea where to look im sorry 💀
The bar at the top of file explorer works just like a web browser, you can just type a new address to go there
says no items match my search
Do it without the [version] since I only put that because I don't know the version
Yes
still no items
Ok I see one issue that stands out for me
Java 21 is insecure and has been deprecated, so you'd want to use Java 23 instead. Also you got the hotspot version and not the full one.
This would be the latest version, 64 bit only https://download.java.net/java/GA/jdk23/3c5b90190c68498b986a97f276efd28a/37/GPL/openjdk-23_windows-x64_bin.zip
It's possible Windows detected the out of date Java version and decided to block it
Because Java is notoriously insecure
You'll want to remove older versions before you install, you can find them in your installed programs list
im so sorry but where is my installed programs list
when i say i know like nothing about files or file explorer this is what i mean
😐
Revouninstaller might work
Forgive the bluntness, but if you aren't comfortable with even uninstalling a program then I would advise you not to run a server off your home network. It only gets more complex from here, with things like port forwards and NAT to worry about, and opening up your computer to the Internet is risky. Doubly so if you don't understand the risks.
i never planned on it
Hi sorry about not responding yesterday, we’re in the US and the nearest Micro center is about 50 mins away. She told me she prefers a black pc, no rgb, and a mid tower and looking to build it around the next 2 months since I’m thinking there’ll be some holiday deals
Is anyone around to help me with some troubleshooting on an issue I’m having in my build nothing major just alot of confusion
Don't ask to ask, just ask
?ask
Don't ask to ask, just ask!
Lol
Currently reading how to ask questions the smart way, you just lead me into a whole side quest😭
Would you want to build it yourself?
Or prebuilt?
How many ram do i have to download on my graphics processing unit to play minecraft?
yeah like that
you have to add the three question marks with the space before them at the end of the question
like this
How many ram do i have to download on my graphics processing unit to play minecraft ???
You also have to spell parts wrong
Ah i see thank you guys I now should be just a little bit better at the art of asking foolish questions 🧐
I'd get the 7600x3d bundle from microcenter
If her video editing is major enough, 12900k bundle instead
Part List - AMD Ryzen 5 7600X3D, Radeon RX 7900 GRE, Montech AIR 903 BASE ATX Mid Tower
do you mean the 7800x3d or is there a 7600x3d im just now finding out about
omg theres a 7600x3d
since when
A few months now
damn i never knew
Lil bit cheaper
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/xjhPbL
Part List - AMD Ryzen 5 7600X3D, Radeon RX 7900 GRE, Cougar MX330 ATX Mid Tower
And yeah 7600x3d is like 3-5% worse than the 7800x3d
Great cpu, just wish it was available outside of mc
also sorry to bug you with that jar stuff last night i just dont understand it
you probably wanted to grab and shake me by the shoulders
More like I wanted to remote into your computer and do it myself lol
oh its a mc exclusive that makes sense
no wonder i never heard of it
Yep same deal as the 5600X3D
if i didnt have trust issues id prob let you lol
I don't blame you at all, I wouldn't let me either lol
how comforting ill def let you now
Has anybody had an issue with windows 11 freezing after unlocking the pc
Actually yes there's a recent Windows update that bricks the OS
Its a fresh install, it worked for about 30 mins while i got all my new apps downloaded and restarted it
Then it just started freezing every single time
Yep sounds like a case of KB5043145
Any recommendations
There isnt an update for me to reverse from so im sorta stuck on nothing
So is 7600x3d the way to go?
Or 7800
Guys I think I got an even better deal than last time
187 euros
This one was 230 euros
Ofc with psu is a bit better but less of a deal cuz of the ryzen 3 3600
I think
7600x3d
If you see the 7800x3d bundle within $50 or so, go for it
What country?
yo, back again
got a little favor to ask
could yall make a part list for a build in romania? budget of like 4,950 lei
gaming rig, will need wifi, and budget is only for the pc itself
Part List - AMD Ryzen 5 7600, GeForce RTX 4060, Deepcool MATREXX 55 MESH ADD-RGB 4F ATX Mid Tower
appreciate you chief
does anyone have a list thats $1200 for everything "Minecraft (modded and I REALLY wanna use shaders), Roblox, terraria (modded), Stardew (modded), I’ve fallen outta sims a bit but I wanna keep it in mind, I wanna get into some other games as well "
is what my cousin says
they need mouse and keyboard and monitor
Good keyboard mouse and monitor on top makes that tough
They need to go used nvidia if they want something worthwhile
Probably used 3060ti build with like a ryzen 5500
Then a $100-$150 monitor, good keeb and mouse
Part List - AMD Ryzen 5 7600, Radeon RX 7600, Deepcool MATREXX 55 MESH ADD-RGB 4F ATX Mid Tower
1200 would get you a good tower on it's own with a 4070 super, any less and 40 series just plain sucks so used 30/20 series is the play
would you buy a 7500f off aliexpress?
she said "f no"
wifi and whatever works
No wifi but wifi is $20, ax200 kit
Might even have to be lower end than this
This fits
Part List - Intel Core i5-12600KF, GeForce RTX 3060 Ti, SAMA IM01 MicroATX Mini Tower
Probably won't do better than this
Maybe 3070 if you're really lucky and needs to be used
4060 will perform much worse, so will any ryzen's at this level that aren't either used or off aliexpress
Ebay
Fbmp
I mean my suggestion is very clear for specifically minecraft with shaders a low end 40 series card sucks for value
yeah
And 3050 is not on the radar
keyboard is 139? wat
why is that so much
why is that mouse 85$?
wat
Cos they're good choices
These are endgame picks for a few dollars more over ass budget
85$ for a mouse? and 139$ for a keyboard
I think it's worth doing
lol
Yeah she's about to spend 1200 dollars and the two things she'll be interfacing the most with deserve more than a basic price if it's possible
Minecraft can run on a throwaway dell optiplex, missing the point of the suggestion
She buys good once, she won't need to buy again
Well a lot of the good choices aren't cheap anymore unfortunately
And I've wisened up a little over the last year
Lol
85 is good for something on par with the best
she honestly doesnt care
ill probably go with logitech options at work
walmart has some good choices and 10% discount
Logitech doesn't get recommended anymore
Especially not with their late discussions over people renting their mice and not buying
Their what
Yes this is a thing
The CEO walked that back immediately after massive public backlash. "It was just a boardroom idea, not something real" kind of thing.
Yeah "Oops sorry, accidental idea"
She sounded really serious about it
They were testing the waters
At least they weren't talking about going the Apple route with DRM and serials on all the parts
they wahat
Apple couldn't do that even if they wanted to
EU forced them out of it
in america sure
New iPhones don't have serial locks
It's cheaper to manufacture for 1 type of product instead of 2
isnt apple watches banned in usa right now
The new 16 ones aren't locking out right to repair like the previous models
Ya, it's a good move
yeah
Genuinely happy apple did it, changed my opinion
Even if they were dragged kicking and screaming to do so
Germany
Thats like 800-900$ worth of a pc for those games except RT shaders for minecraft I guess
American prices are crazy, paid <100€ for high end razer mouse
;(
https://de.pcpartpicker.com/product/nNTZxr/corsair-cx-2023-650-w-80-bronze-certified-atx-power-supply-cp-9020278-na on the cheap end
Thx m8
Better quality same wattage
https://de.pcpartpicker.com/product/qJpmP6/cooler-master-mwe-bronze-v2-650-w-80-bronze-certified-atx-power-supply-mpe-6501-acaab-us
And good quality 750
https://de.pcpartpicker.com/product/sscG3C/cooler-master-mwe-gold-v2-750-w-80-gold-certified-fully-modular-atx-power-supply-mpe-7501-afaag-us
No need, upgrade will only happen once we get a huge bump in our income next year
After vacation and paying for drivers license
So planning on keeping that pc for a year max and switch over end of next year
To something like a 4070 or probably better by that time, ryzen 7 x3d and ddr5 ram
With custom watercooling
So for now only a cheap secure PSU is enough
Shared List
Would this be a good build or not? i don't know much about pc building or the components.
Maybe if it was 2021
Is that for gaming? You can get a WAY better setup for that ~$1700 USD
Yeah gaming i just put what online said was good
Good lord
Who is online
I wanna meet online and slap 'em

Even by 2021 standards this is yikes
The cooler and SSD especially yes
Quick prognosis @grim shard for the same money you could have 3x the performance
@grim shard Are you close to a microcenter by chance? They have the best deals
I mean i dont play much so i dont need alot of storage but like idk about the rest? and no im not im closer to south texas
Yea
Ok this is easy
You should be able to get a 7900 GRE or 7900XT build, decent 1440p monitor
Okayy again i know barely anything about computers i mean like i know what a cpu and processor is but not good from bad ones
Is the 7900 GRE and 7900 XT like the case? Or the processor?😅
GPU
Lol yeah im cluless
Not a $1700 one
Oh okay well cheaper is better in most cases I'll look up the GPU tho
Also no need to pay full retail price for Windows
I thought thats the only way to get it
You can either transfer/upgrade a license you already have or get one for $5-20 depending on how loose your morals are
Ah okay well i do have a pc but its really old like win 7 2009 old so idk if i would be able to like upgrade that? Like the specs and everything its a mini atx
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/Y4zNJy
https://www.amazon.com/KEEBMONKEY-Mechanical-Acoustics-Connectivity-Standard/dp/B0D2ZZL1GF/
Do this
I gave you same and better cpu performance and wayyyyy better gaming performance
Quite literally 3-4x faster fps
Much better mini-led monitor
Which in simple terms is the step just below OLED
AMD option, similar performance https://pcpartpicker.com/list/7WFGvj
Part List - AMD Ryzen 7 7700X, Radeon RX 7900 XT, Fractal Design Pop Air ATX Mid Tower
Way way better
Pretty much agree yeah, tho maybe slightly better value ssd
The only real advantage going AMD is the option to upgrade the CPU later
You don't get that with the 13600K
Okayy so amd over intel basically? Because i saw that there was some draw backs with the intel cpu the new ones specifically
Here's a snapshot
Actually let me edit this one sec
Here's what your fps looks like
The Intel chips have been self destructing, but that's mostly the high end i9 and i7. There's very little gaming difference between those and the i5 so either get the i5 or go AMD and don't worry about it.
Bigger number better in this situation
Either or are good. The amd one is a little more future proof, the intel one is a little more performance
Pick your poison (use the same ssd tho)
It's all up to you at this point. There's no clear cut winner at this price range.
Yeah what matters is that you got the gpu worth your budget
I would suggest this for 1tb
https://pcpartpicker.com/product/XB9wrH/teamgroup-t-force-g50-1-tb-m2-2280-pcie-40-x4-nvme-solid-state-drive-tm8ffe001t0c129
Okayy yeahh well im gonna do some more research then 🙂 thank u for the links
All good
Btw @grim shard who is online
Don't meet with online again
💀
You nearly got scammed by bad info
Here's a 13600k review
Think "5950x but faster"
"cheaper"
That's the kind of PC I would have seen built during the lockdowns when you couldn't get a 3060 for less than $800
Yeah for sure
Nowadays I wouldn't pay more than $200 for a 3060
It's a $700 pc pick, not a $1700 one
I fixed it
Intergraded graphics was messing stuff up somehow
Apevia prestige 600w is $51
euros felix
can someone help me format my flash drive i keep getting an error
you could try forcing it via command line
open command prompt (cmd.exe)
run diskpart
type in list disk
find your usb drive, and remember the number
type in select disk <number>
clean
wait for it to complete
create partition primary
format fs=exfat (or you can pick something else like fat32, or ntfs)
lol that's just the reset button not being wired right
Like accidentally putting a LED on the reset switch
Looks like they are tripping the psu to me
Ocp wouldn't reset like that
Literally what my pg850gm did when it was trying to take out my 3080 but alright
It’s clearly a gas powered system that takes a few revs to get going
Lol, rather, ocp shouldn't trigger like that
Who knows that wish.com horror is in that rig
Probably bro's first PC, given that it's a Lian LI
guys both deals are off the table one guy tried to scam me it seems/made the whole process take so many more days its easier to just buy new parts myself
so I own a ryzen 5 5600, G.SKILL aegis DDR4 and a b550 mobo, what should I upgrade first? ram right?
How much ram and what speed
And what gpu, storage, and power supply
is there different speeds between the g.skill aegis variants? like the 8gb having faster/slower CL?
than the 16 gb
that dont matter just wanting to know if I should upgrade my ram and then use my old ram for GFs PC
I have a rx 6600 and would want to upgrade to a RTX 4070 maybe
but if ram is also important in my case then I would switch out those first
Yes there are multiple models of the same kit of ram normally.
And yes storage and psu 100% matter
If you're using an hdd for your boot drive, you 100% want to get an ssd for windows
And if your psu is dangerous, you definitely want to replace it first
heard from some dudes that it was and from others that it wasnt
seems weird
imo
average brand favouritism
I own the EVGA 750W Gold Supernova
Good psu
Evga has a few bad ones, but none of their gold supernovas are problematic
There's varying levels of quality still like felix is saying, but none that are a danger
80+ Gold fully modular
o ok
Like g6, g5, gq
GT thank you
Sounds like a build we'd suggest so far
I ate my words
Go back 2 years
It is gold
Yep good unit
I did get it recommended cuz I always check with others to make sure I dont fall into brand traps
And I'd put it at like a b+
It was one of those few "Would be top tier but" psu's
My favorite type of person when buying pc parts
You got something you can reuse here. Would recommend in a lot of builds
corsair charging 200+ euros for an AiO is criminal
yeh Im just asking what I should reuse and what should I upgrade
I love this guy
I want her PC to last long too

Well psu is def a keeper
You could hold onto the b550 if it's a good one
ram or GPU? I dont want to pick my pc apart fully and then have to build her PC same day
6600 is reusable so is the ram and cpu
You just repurpose those another way
If the b550 is solid you can keep that, or move to a new build altogether
gonna have to buy a new case too 😵💫 gonna be exhausting but atleast I get to clean out all the cathair fr this time and not just with a airpump
5600+6600 will run on that apevia I told you about yesterday
Ya new case is possible
but will i get more FPS with a new set of ram? and by how much?
I haven't seen a very detailed list yet but specifics in question this could be a pc still in good value
New ram will only do more if you need more
And in doing so you buy a new kit and only use that kit
Mixing is not recommended
is there a voice chat?
I'm soon to sleep lad
It's 3am
my eyes hurt
💀
nice
Choose Your Parts
ok hold on
If you can make a list here of the existing pc parts, we can tell you which are worth keeping which aren't
So far I'd keep the psu for the new pc then get an apevia prestige 600w for the 5600 one
Part List - AMD Ryzen 5 5600, Radeon RX 6600
U are confused I think
?
So Im only trying to buy her a new pc my pc only gets upgraded if it makes sense and isnt a huge investment
I have like 400 euros for this I'd like it to be aeound 300 tho if possible
Around*
Ok, we go the other way
Apevia prestige for u, supernova for her lol
The parts all look good, case and ssd (I hope it's an ssd) would all be passable
Frankly a ram upgrade would be justice, that's all
Ok how expensive is it tho? I was hoping to go a bit cheaper on her psu since I will upgrade early next year anyways
The parts I'm suggesting are basically the cheapest possible rn
Yes just dont remember which one and am on phone rn
If you want cheaper, cheaper doesn't exist in the psu department
As far as ram, used on ebay for some 2x16gb ddr4 kit works, makes its $30 not $50
So $80 to upgrade yours max
For her, not sure what your whole budget is but $400 let alone $320 is barely enough for any half decent pc
Ok lets say this then: i upgrade my ram using ebay, she gets my old ram, I buy her the ryzen 5 5600, another supernova GT (i would like to go with 650w tho), a mobo (need help for a decent cheap option) and the rest she keeps from her old PC
Used 5500 + cheap board like b450m-a ii + small ssd + 5700xt + cheap case would be maybe $350-ish
Im just trying to buy a ryzen 5 5600, a mobo a ram kit and a psu
So that we wont have to share my setup
And so we can play games together
Possibly a new AiO for my system and maybe a new case
*New ryzen 5500 + tuf a520m wifi ii + 512gb ssd (A60) + apevia prestige 600W + cheap case (sama im01) + *new 32gb ram kit would be about... $400-ish?
Something like that
Never heard of apevia
And i will probably upgrade my ram just no idea what would be better
Currently i use 2x 8 gb CL16
Is there a list of better alternatives with 2x 16gb option?
I do multitask a lot with my pc and often have 10 tabs open whilst playing some mid to high processing games
I can barely make a 5600 fit

Part List - AMD Ryzen 5 5600, Radeon RX 5500 XT, SAMA IM01 MicroATX Mini Tower
Oops that's a 5500xt, anyway it's a placeholder
You'd use the ram here in your pc
Use the 2x8 kit in hers
About the only good psu under $80 rn
Specifically the one in the list
And only good for very modest pc's like the one above or the one you own
Sure why are we keeping pets?
Thats what she said
Thx for ur help tho
So i guess theres no better setup than b550 and 5600 atm
Can someone please message me, my PC won’t turn on or anything. Not RGB light no fans spinning, no indicator light on my motherboard or anything. Tried a different power supply and still nothing. Please message me.
What cpu and motherboard
AMD Ryzen 7 5000 series with AORUS X570 Elite WiFi
Was it just built/bought?
It was built. It was working perfectly fine 2 days ago come home yesterday and couldn’t turn it on. Never had a problem in the 3 years of having it
What psu was in it
And when you tried another, did you reuse cables or swap all of them
A corsair 1000w, then I tried to put my old psu in and that was a 750w
I swapped the cables out
Hm, id suspect ram or mobo first then
Just very odd, failure so soon after building would very likely be assumed to be psu
Is there a way I can test the PSU? So when I get home I can test and make sure
Appreciate the help
ok so anything else I have to look out for on a mobo if I dont care about wifi and USB-C
Am4 right?
other than the obvious AM4 and DDR4/3
Though
https://pcpartpicker.com/product/pQNxFT/intel-core-i5-12400f-25-ghz-6-core-processor-bx8071512400f
ik
Nah that's for you
12400f and 12600kf are both better value than the 5600 atm, but its up to you
A mobo with wifi would cost more, and 12600kf doesn't come with a stock cooler
she's gonna be streaming and multitasking isnt ryzen always the better opion in that case?
No
no stock is rough
12600kf would 100% be better
12400f is very slightly better than 5600
Part List - Intel Core i5-12600KF
12600kf outmatches the 5700x in games, and matches it in multi core performance
but Im happy with my 5600 cuz I have not had an issue so far in anything I have done and Im running it using stock cooler
but its more expensive when Im trying to save money
due to it not having a stock cooler
and having to buy a normal cooler would not be smart cuz we have 2 cats and they jump on our desks
so if I dont go stock I have to go AiO otherwise its wasted money
?
A $20 cooler is perfectly fine
And 12400f does have a stock cooler
but with the intel chips throttleing Im not informed enough to know which have that issue and which dont
12th gen is safe
ik for a fact the new ones do but the old ones also have had some issues
13th/14th had a fix released but those were the only ones affected
12600kf is currently 80 euros more expensive than the 5600 in my country atleast
Part List - AMD Ryzen 5 5600
Oh
Thought you were in the US
That sucks, what country if I may ask?
germany
the US thinking they are the whole world again 😭
though I still would probably have stuck to the ryzen 5 if its not a huge price gap
since Im also already familiar with it
So I assumed
nah
all good
I just wanted recommendations
for hardware
u good I still looked it up

honestly asrock looks pretty cool for a white build no?
if I can I would make a white/pink build cuz of her GPU
So since Im also upgrading my current system, whats better, the 2x8 gb 3200MHz aegis with cl16 or a trident z 2x16 gb with 3600 MHz cl18?
2x16
No point in upgrading without going to 32gb
CORSAIR CX650 ATX 650W Power Supply - 80 Plus Bronze Certified - Low Noise - Coated Cables - Non-Modular - EU - Black
This one good?
It's ok
I'd suggest one of these rn for Germany

Iirc you're the dude who's upgrading in a year so DC about a great psu rn
"It's ok"
Recommends the same power supply with a different wattage 🙃
I mean, it is just ok
C tier
All three of them are
Abn 650 was just a bit cheaper
Test my psu and it turned on, not to sure what’s going on. I also replaced the CMOS battery with a new one and still nothing. Could my motherboard just went bad all of a sudden? Literally over night. Want to try to figure it out before I take my PC up to micro center and have them look at it.

when 50 series drops im gonna nab the 5080 or 5090 👀
In a nutshell, if I had the same budget I'd walk away with an XTX or 4080S instead for that much
i got the 4070 used for a wild deal
Define wild
300
Ok I forgive this
lol
Ram ssd and psu could be better tho
i got the ssd a while back bc it was all that was available for instant gratification, havent needed to get anything new yet so it's still here. the ram is not my first choice either, but was around. psu was also on sale so i scooped it up
paid like 90 for the ssd, under 100 for the psu, and the ram i actually bought retail because the ram i ordered was gonna take over a week to get here and i wanted my pc functional n o w
so 105.99 for the ram
Ssd and ram is oof
facts
tips on better ram and ssd though? i want whatever gives me more fps and less latency, i hate rgb 😦 hold on ill send a pic of the setup as it is right now
i did not finish the cable management bc i got excited to set everythign up
Ignore the psu
The ssd and ram represent a median price for "good" for the last 8 months or so
And those are the current good picks in a like for like scenario
Or if you wanted 1tb, $60 is the norm, has been for a while
Atp dram choices have evaporated though apart from adata sx8200 pro
fanmaxxing
tbh i want at least 4tb storage space and have been considering a 2.5" ssd
bc im not trying to drop 400+ on an nvme
Wow that case has a hinge? How much was it
i got it for 45 on fb marketplace
$215-$240-ish is good for 4tb
45 is really nice
Ok specs are weird but you made up the losses so I dig it
3 intake on the front, 2 blowing upwards into the gpu, and the rear and aio configured as exhaust
specs are a little weird lol
also do you know what i can use for a benchmark? O:

Pick a colour
Jk, 3dmark is a great standard
i literally just got all my drivers installed and bios updated like 30 minutes ago
have installed a total of like a game and a half
You should update your list with the correct pricing btw
It'll save people asking lol
im not really sure how to do that o:
It seems like it's a good price overall so I think with that context filled people will like your work

It was 3 am and I had to make a choice, i bought it
Wonderful I'm very happy for you and your pet, you can keep him
How can I get past this screen?
dang just after putting windows 10 on a sd card to run it
Windows doesn't run off of removeable drives like SD cards. Linux will though.
#tech-deals lots of Radeon price cuts, could this mean they are trying to get rid of inventory or something for RDNA 4?
it was a windows install flash
Or is it just the magic 8 ball gif at this point
Check your boot order in bios then
Pretty much this. Leaks and rumors point at trying to whittle down on last gen stock before the launch of next gen but they are just that, leaks and rumors.
We don't expect next gen GPUs until Q1 next year
Really?! I thought previous launches were always late Q4, and would be being officially announced around like now?
Normally that would be the case but Nvidia is delaying their launch to focus their production on AI cards they can charge 10x more for, so AMD is likely going to take advantage of their delay to improve their own product. Even if Nvidia does launch a GPU this year it will only be another paper launch with very little stock available.
Current rumors lean more towards February for the 5090 and possibly 5080
Interesting
RDNA 4 flagship needs to be like 7900 XT performance with better RT for like less than 600
Focus on better entry and mid range cards and you win the market imo
High end people will always buy nvidia imo even if AMD was right alongside them in performance
That is AMDs strategy this time around yeah. They're on record as saying they're ditching the high end market and focusing on the market where 90% of the buyers are to cut costs.
If RDNA 5 comes out with a halo product that will probably make me upgrade
I’m sitting on a flagship card for half the MSRP it launched at I’m chilling by lol
If the 5090 leaked specs are real then there's no chance AMD could come close
Honestly AMD being mid range and energy efficient means more to me than like 600W the high end 50 series is gonna draw
That’s just not sustainable
Remember that 600W is just the rumored baseline spec and power is one of the things Nvidia allows AIBs to mess with
That's why we have official 1000W BIOS from Galax for the 3090
A what
What’s like the limit of a North American wall outlet
Cause I know Europe’s is a bit higher
Imagine that 3090 with like an overclocked 14900K plus a bunch of fans and RGB
You prob get close to that 1600 limit
It doesn't actually pull the full 1kW
Even with LN2 the most you'll usually see sustained is about 650W, spikes to about 800W
But if you SLI 3090s...
Oh and 220V outlets are 10A so they're typically around 2200W depending on the region specific voltage supplied
i forgot 3090s have SLI
thats crazy
didnt radeon have their own version of that? crossfire or smth?
Yeah crossfirex
Better yet, 3x sli 3090s
crossfire is such a cool name for a feature like that ngl
Hey guys okay so I have been having a problem for the past couple days where when I'm playing games my pc randomly Alt-Tabb's making it where I have to click back to my main screen to regain focus I don't understand what's going on everything I have looked up hasn't worked has ANYONE had this or know how to fix this
Tried another keyboard?
Yeah I did i brought a new keybored around 2weeks ago logi 815and have just started having this problem liek a few days ago
You're having this problem on 2+ different keyboards?
Nah i got a new keybored because i had the same one for about 6years (old crap keybord from ebay) now the one i have now is brand new but now im having this Alt-Tabbing issue
So it might be a problem with the new keyboard
see i thought that but i brought the newbord about 2week ago and have startted having this issue within 2days maybe 4 tops
It could still be the new keyboard. Just because it's new doesn't mean it's flawless.
Yeah true true. Thanks guys.
Well try a different keyboard before we say our thanks and byes, nothing's established as broken yet
true true
Is this fine? Or too much?
Normally we would just make a pea blob in the center
Don't have to worry about "too much" thermal paste as pretty much all formulations nowadays are nonconductive
I need a budget pc under like $800
What are your opinions on aliexpress
7500f is like $123 from there and is the best value cpu you can get right now

do you want a prebuilt? Or are you able to build it yourself?
hi i got 2 to pick i js dont know what one https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/list/WMfRfy or https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/list/g2XtPF#compatibility_notes
The first one imo because of the better GPU. That'll be the biggest impact on performance between them.
Ur a regular bob ross
Is $1500 enough to build a quality 1440 future proof build? I have an SSD but not a monitor, would otherwise be starting from scratch
Planning to sell my old rig for about half of that
"Future proof" is very buzz-wordy since no one can predict what the future brings, but 1500 gets a quite good PC and monitor
Sorry for the buzzword, was thinking like “won’t need to upgrade parts anytime soon”
i think you can get a pc with 790 0xtx rn
sorry for the space
i typed too fast
7900XTX is able to get 4K right?
yes
Depends on the game but generally yes, especially with upscaling
but i'd reccommend 1440p
I’ve only ever used 1080p so I figured 1440 was a perfect upgrade
1440p 27 inch is where it's at
Is part picker the best place to start still?
I think I’m ironically at 1080 27 inch with my current build. Nice to know I’m on the right track
that'll look much nicer once you hop to 1440p
once you go 27 inch on 1080p
you get something that's called screen door effect
are you looking for a specific look with your build?
rgb? wifi?
WiFi, indifferent to RGB
alright
Part List - AMD Ryzen 5 7600, Radeon RX 7900 XTX, Montech AIR 903 MAX ATX Mid Tower
You said you have a SSD already so I didn't include it
If $1500 is a hard ceiling on the budget then you can go down to the 7900 XT
Intel Mac I'm guessing, nice
Also nice retro handheld collection
Are any of those modded, like the IPS mod on the GBA?
somehow going 12600kf made the list even more expensive
oh yeah
cooler requirement
Yep 7600 saves you from needing one entirely
wait
slightly cheaper
i forgot about the fact that ssd isn't required
Part List - Intel Core i5-12600KF, Radeon RX 7900 XTX, Montech AIR 903 MAX ATX Mid Tower
here's my attempt at it
could use some more refinement but
this is basically it
Right neither of these are quite min/maxed builds but rather parts that are good matches for each other
You could technically go cheaper by doing an AM4 X3D build but I wouldn't recommend that these days for a new build
the 12600kf's saving grace is its performance on ddr5
as well as the sheer core count
might be useful if you play a lot of beamng (self bias incoming)
i have 8 cores on zen 3+ but i find using traffic in this particular game to be..
not very lively
can't keep too many cars in the map without fps taking a nosedive
hey guys can somebody help me with a 600 dollar build for my cousin he prefers a white build with rgb he mainly wants to play rocket league and cod
I currently have a 5600x with a gigabyte 3070. I play 1080p at 360hz and in some games i dont get the full 360fps. Is the 5800x3d a good upgrade or will it bottleneck?
5700x3d
Or 7500f/7600 if you'd be willing to go am5
How much of a difference is there between 7900 XT and 7900 XTX? It doesn't look like too much of a difference unless I wanted to go 4K
Around 15% iirc
The xtx has an extra 4gb but that won't really matter for 1440p, at least not anytime soon
And I don't see 20gb being necessary for quite a while
Might be closer to a 10% difference
Just found out I might only get $600 for my old build so the savings are looking more appealing lol

5600x, 1660 super, 870 EVO, B550 A pro with gigabyte wifi adapter, cheapish case, corsair 8x2 3000 mhz
Is that worth $600 or more?
Also i think the asus tuf 1440p 170hz IPS is $150 at wegg
If you got $600, fantastic
Is it not worth that much?
Am I overcharging my brother?
Yes
I went based off of PC part picker's value
I'd sell it for like 400 max
It’s often inflated
Markets are vastly different
On Newegg, I can find a 1660s for $230, but on eBay, I can find it for $70.
You'd be looking at a used PC more than likely at that price, good luck
@cyan ravine nice a fun BSOD that's stupidly annoying to deal with
Kinda thinking it's my SSD though tbh. I had the same thing fail on a previous SSD, similar issue
XPG SX2000 (some model like that lol)
Kernel, fun, could be literally anything lol
lmaoo
I'm thinking it's my SSD
This is with a 1TB ADATA XPG something. I had the same issue with a 512GB variant of this SSD
Send me the contents of your C:\Windows\Minidump folder and I'll analyze it to see if there's a pattern
