Seeing a 4090 in person at micro was an eye opener tbh they really are gigantic

cyan ravine
#

Hour and a half is a lotta gas lol

wary gale
wary gale
#

So that’s like 60 max

lone flame
cyan ravine
#

Yep 20 sounds about right

lone flame
#

Was cool just seeing the expensive stuff ngl lol

cyan ravine
# lone flame

Man I saw a buttload yesterday, only card that interested me was the gre nitro

#

Every other card is boring

#

Except arc

#

Arc is cool

cold imp
#

whats crackin guys i think im banned from buildapc but i need help planning a build can i ask here

lone flame
#

It was just weird being my first time at one, seeing all these products I’ve only seen in videos and IRL people who talk tech that aren’t Newegg people lmao

#

Was really cool

#

I’d like to go back again

cyan ravine
#

Also with/without monitor keeb mouse

#

And/or wifi

lone flame
cyan ravine
#

Some of them are a bit toxic tbh, start fights in other servers

lone flame
#

Also before you help Clemv2 will I need a RGB header thingy for my fans

cold imp
# cyan ravine I'm down. Hit me with budget, purpose, and aesthetic preference

$2-2.5k US without peripherals might be able to stretch a bit higher
it's for a friend he's getting into 3d modeling and blender and whatnot so i was looking at building around a 3070 but honestly idk i haven't looked at computers for a long time. also light-moderate gaming and photo editing perchance
aesthetic preference i just got "preferably white"
don't need a wifi card he has ethernet

cyan ravine
#

Ok that's quite doable

#

Is there any gaming involved yes or no

cold imp
#

yeah

#

fps, modded minecraft

cyan ravine
#

Ok I know what to make

#

Does he want to use every dollar or nah

#

I could go explosively stupid here

#

Or I could keep it reasonable

wary gale
#

Bro it just got sold for 32

#

32 for a h9 is insane

lone flame
#

USD?

wary gale
#

Yes

cold imp
lone flame
#

was it legit? I’m on my phone I just glanced at it

wary gale
cold imp
#

he budgeted for a monitor separate but i dont think he wnats to blow it all on the pc necessarily bc hes switching off of a laptop so he will have to buy a monitor at soe point

cyan ravine
#

Actually I might have overestimated it a bit we'll see

cold imp
#

okay

cyan ravine
#

@cold imp how knowledgeable is he about pc's

#

Is he willing to learn a bit to use it

molten rune
#

Other friend's rebuild/upgrade wanted to try and keep the AM4 socket as long as possible

There's probably a lot he could fix here imo, I'll ask him what his budget is.

Edit: budget not a concern, but currently case barely fits his 5700xt

cold imp
cold imp
cyan ravine
#

Alright I'll keep it a buck

#

I got it to 1811

#

Not really room to negotiate much though

#

It's kind or carefully fit together if that makes sense

cold imp
#

in what sense

cyan ravine
#

Like if I change something, something else mightn't fit/look good

cold imp
#

okay

cyan ravine
#

e.g the ram, it's covered by the cooler fan

#

The cpu, if I do am5 it's 100 more

#

Etc

lone flame
cyan ravine
#

Bit of a weird spot here

cyan ravine
cold imp
#

thanks for the build man i'll send it over

cyan ravine
cyan ravine
cold imp
#

is rtings still good for monitors

cyan ravine
#

Yes ofc

cold imp
#

ok

cyan ravine
#

I have to go but lmk how the build goes mate

cold imp
#

yeah fs thanks again man

cyan ravine
#

Ask in here if you have questions others will chime in later

cyan ravine
# molten rune Hmmm.

Like the last upgrade worth doing on am4 and he's one of the few examples that qualify

#

He's not on zen 3 yet so it works

#

Anyway, I gotta go now, tons to do today

#

Good luck everyone, ask in here if you got more q's ✌️

#

Someone will pick up the phone lol

plucky timber
#

Imagine being the lucky few on a b450 that has good enough vrms to handle zen 3 and get a substantial upgrade

molten rune
#

I'll have to look.

#

But I have a budget that wouldn't allow me to upgrade

His would however

dusky hearth
plucky timber
#

but i see a lot of ds3hs around

plucky timber
#

it's a really good board for how much upgradability you get out of it

wild crane
#

ITS DOING BIOS UPDATE I THINK

plucky timber
#

POG

#

what fixed it?

wild crane
#

I did it on a pc and not a chrom book so all the flashing red lights stopped

plucky timber
#

ah

#

so the formatting was funny

wild crane
#

Is that good it went for a while like in the vid

plucky timber
#

yes

#

it takes a while to flash

wild crane
#

Do i turn it off and put my gpu in?

plucky timber
#

is it done flashing?

wild crane
#

Yes

#

No red bios light

plucky timber
#

yeah so plug everything you unplugged back in

wild crane
#

Ram gpu etc?

plucky timber
#

yes

#

and if it works

#

you'll have a really good upgrade path

wild crane
#

Im gonna turn my pc off and put everything in

plucky timber
#

sweet

#

turn off the power supply just in case

wild crane
#

The power button from my case isnt working

plucky timber
#

yeah that's because uh

#

it's the headers

wild crane
#

They are in

plucky timber
#

probably not in correctly

wild crane
plucky timber
#

they're a pain

wild crane
#

Illjust turn the psu pff

plucky timber
#

yeah

#

clear the power first

wild crane
#

It is off

plucky timber
#

it's already off?

#

hmm JFP1 looks right

#

you have power led and power switch on the top pins right?

wild crane
#

Yes

plucky timber
#

yeah

#

hmm

#

turn on the psu again

#

and then press the power button

wild crane
#

Let me get my ramm in rq

plucky timber
#

Yeah that's probably why it's not turning on

wild crane
#

Does the ssd need to be screwed down?

plucky timber
#

Was it screwed down before?

wild crane
#

Yea

plucky timber
#

Oh an nvme

#

Yes

#

Definitely

wild crane
#

Is it required

plucky timber
#

Don't over screw it tho

#

Yeah

wild crane
#

I may have lost it

plucky timber
#

They fall out really easily

#

Oh

#

That's a pain

dusky hearth
plucky timber
#

Duct tape

jagged ember
#

itll work without a screw on it

dusky hearth
#

if you have a heat spreader on top, then you wouldnt notice the difference

jagged ember
#

it just might come loose if you jostle it hard enough

dusky hearth
#

mobo heat spreader specifically

plucky timber
#

I'm more afraid of it wiggling around

dusky hearth
#

what, it doesnt have legs

#

its not a worm lmao

#

it is something that you probably should fix, but not an immediate necessity

jagged ember
#

yeah sometime in the future

#

which i need to do still for my laptop kekw

dusky hearth
#

lmfao

wild crane
#

Im just gonna leave my pc flat for now

jagged ember
#

which arguably is even more dangerous

dusky hearth
#

fr

#

did your laptop not include a screw

jagged ember
#

it was for the second slot

dusky hearth
#

mine had one preinstalled iirc

jagged ember
#

so no, it didn't come with a second one

#

yeah it wasn't preinstalled, stupid dell

plucky timber
#

Some ssds are nice enough to include a second screw

dusky hearth
#

(a screw in the empty slot)

#

some ssds include a screw

#

i forget which one, i think it was mp33 that included a screw

wild crane
#

Ok i put everything in imma boot up

plucky timber
#

Those things are really easy to thread

#

This is why I don't overtighten them

dusky hearth
#

thread lol

wild crane
plucky timber
#

Strip*

wild crane
#

I forgot to plug the gpu in😭

plucky timber
#

Lmao

wild crane
#

Ok now everything is good

#

Turning it on

#

The gpu isnt on

plucky timber
#

Did you plug in the power cables?

wild crane
#

Yes

plucky timber
#

Gpu fans?

wild crane
plucky timber
#

Some gpu fans don't turn on until it reachers a certain temperature

#

Yeah plug them in

wild crane
#

Plugged in

plucky timber
#

Power on

wild crane
#

Still nothing to my monitor

wild crane
plucky timber
#

Hmm

#

Oh yeah btw plug the hard drive back in

wild crane
#

It is

plucky timber
#

Hmm

#

Did the gpu click in?

wild crane
#

Do i need to plug the keyboard in

plucky timber
#

The sata cable on the bottom looks unplugged

#

You know that one cable I told you to unplug yesterday?

wild crane
#

Yes

plucky timber
#

Yeah that one

#

Not too important but might as well

wild crane
#

In

plucky timber
#

Hmm

wild crane
#

Nothing

plucky timber
#

I'm assuming you have the display cable in the gpu

wild crane
#

Yes

plucky timber
#

Strange

#

Hmm

sacred obsidian
#

Make sure the power pins are seated properly and all the way. I've had trouble with the split ones in the past

wild crane
#

Do i need ro enter bios?

sacred obsidian
#

Do you see bios screen when booting up the PC with that GPU in?

wild crane
#

Nope

sacred obsidian
#

Is this a new build or upgrade or what

wild crane
#

Upgrade

plucky timber
#

Try reseating memory

sacred obsidian
#

Does the old GPU still work

wild crane
#

How does one do that?

wild crane
plucky timber
#

Take it out and put it back in

#

Make sure it clicks in

sacred obsidian
#

Did you have to add wires to the PSU to power the new card

wild crane
#

The ram sticks

plucky timber
sacred obsidian
wild crane
sacred obsidian
#

It could be either not plugged in on the PSU side properly or in wrong place potentially

plucky timber
wild crane
#

Still nothing

plucky timber
dusky hearth
sacred obsidian
#

I mean if that's the case that's also bad lol

dusky hearth
wild crane
#

Whats cmos

dusky hearth
#

i'd assume not then

sacred obsidian
#

The battery on the mobo

plucky timber
#

Yeah

wild crane
sacred obsidian
#

You unplug the power completely from wall, then take out that little battery and wait about 30 secs

jagged ember
#

30?

#

that's not generally enough

dusky hearth
#

hold the power button for like 15

sacred obsidian
#

That's what I've always done lol

jagged ember
#

1 minute or more if you don't press the power button

plucky timber
#

I power on the pc for a bit then turn it back off

jagged ember
#

if you hold it down yeah

wild crane
#

How do i take the battery put

sacred obsidian
#

Push the little clip on the side

dusky hearth
#

or if there's a clr cmos jumper or button, that usually is more easier

plucky timber
#

Press the clip holding it in

sacred obsidian
#

It should pop up

dusky hearth
#

i absolutely hate taking out the cmos battery

#

it's such a pain

plucky timber
#

Tweezers required

jagged ember
#

it's just annoying fr

wild crane
#

Its out

plucky timber
#

Power on the pc for 30 seconds

#

Then power it back off

wild crane
#

With it out?

plucky timber
#

Then put the batt back in

dusky hearth
#

make sure the power supply is switched off or unplugged

plucky timber
wild crane
#

Alright i turned ot on

plucky timber
#

do we all have different ways of clearing cmos

wild crane
#

Wait a minute ish?

jagged ember
plucky timber
#

💀

wild crane
#

Imma wait a minute

dusky hearth
#

yeah that sentence could be confusing lmfao

jagged ember
#

if you power it on while it's plugged in the cmos isn't getting cleared

plucky timber
#

Oh it's just phrasing

wild crane
#

Wait mine is plugged in

#

Should i turn it off

jagged ember
#

unplug and hold down the power button for 30 seconds is what you're supposed to do

wild crane
#

Oh ok

dusky hearth
#

having the power switch set to off works as well usually

#

-> me being too lazy to unplug

jagged ember
plucky timber
#

Indeed

wild crane
#

Done now put battery back in and power up?

jagged ember
#

you want to be as clear and concise as possible when giving instructions

dusky hearth
sacred obsidian
#

Has it been 30 secs already?

dusky hearth
#

in case you didnt clear it properly

wild crane
dusky hearth
#

so you dont have to remove the batt again ☠️

#

yeah

wild crane
#

I turned it on

dusky hearth
#

if it POSTs and makes a display, then you can put the batt back in

wild crane
#

Nope

#

Nothing

#

The gpu fans arent on tho

dusky hearth
#

yeah that is expected ish

jagged ember
#

gpu fans dont always spin

wild crane
#

Do i put the bat back in?

sacred obsidian
#

Did you make sure the 24 pin and CPU power are both in?

dusky hearth
#

we could try resetting the CMOS once more in case it for whatever reason was a user error
though is your gpu in the first slot and power is plugged in properly?

wild crane
#

They are

dusky hearth
#

what are you upgrading btw, i wasnt here to see the start

#

was it the gpu

dusky hearth
#

oh

#

hmm

plucky timber
#

He just flashed bios

dusky hearth
#

bios version supports the new cpu right

wild crane
#

How do i check

dusky hearth
#

would have to look at the support list

plucky timber
#

What cpu do you have and what bios version did you download?

wild crane
#

I did whatever is at the tpp of msi tomahawk b450 bios

#

AMD Ryzen 7 5700X 8-Core, 16-Thread Unlocked Desktop Processor

dusky hearth
#

latest bios should probably support anything from 5000 series to 2000 series hmmm

wild crane
#

Thats the new one

sacred obsidian
#

Wait a minute, can you take a photo of the side of your PSU with the info on it

wild crane
#

1 sec

dusky hearth
#

i kinda doubt it would be OPP

sacred obsidian
#

I thought he was upgrading gpu

plucky timber
#

Nope

dusky hearth
#

i'd expect it to at least POST

plucky timber
#

Something funny's going on

wild crane
#

Thats my psu

plucky timber
#

Show ram configuration

#

I may have a hunch

#

Since that was unplugged for the bios flash

jagged ember
#

I'm thinking possible ram retraining

sacred obsidian
#

Wait but you told me in the other chat you had a 550 watt

plucky timber
#

Different pc

#

That's the prebuilt right?

wild crane
sacred obsidian
#

Ahh ok that's why I was confused

wild crane
plucky timber
#

Can't make out the last slot but

#

Looks like A2 B2 to me

wild crane
#

Whats that mean

plucky timber
#

Basically it's occupying one slot in both channels

sacred obsidian
#

So when the pc turns on, does the fans spin or is there any indication of power?

plucky timber
#

Most modern boards prefer a stick in A2 and a stick in B2

plucky timber
#

Ok that's good

wild crane
#

Are they in the roght spots

plucky timber
#

Gpu fan doesn't necessarily spin

plucky timber
#

A bit dark tho

wild crane
#

Also does the fans spinning means the mpther board works at least?

dusky hearth
#

no

plucky timber
#

It means there's power going to it

wild crane
#

Ok

dusky hearth
#

do you still have your old cpu

plucky timber
#

It broke

dusky hearth
#

oh

#

F

wild crane
#

Yes but some pins brok off

jagged ember
#

oh god

dusky hearth
#

wait

#

where did it break off

plucky timber
#

Oh no

jagged ember
#

are the pins inside the socket

wild crane
#

No

#

I dont think

#

😭

dusky hearth
#

probably should've checked first lol

wild crane
#

I cant tonight

plucky timber
#

Did it break off after you pulled it out?

jagged ember
#

yeah, if the pins fell off that might have been a pertinent first step to take

wild crane
#

I dont know my grandpa did that part

sacred obsidian
#

Carefully remove the new CPU and check if it has damaged pins, and then carefully put it back if it looks good

dusky hearth
#

i probably wouldnt put it back before checking the socket

wild crane
sacred obsidian
#

I mean if everything looks good to the naked eye, I'd put it back immediately for safety more than anything.

dusky hearth
#

i guess?

plucky timber
#

carefully

dusky hearth
#

do you still have the cpu container

#

would put in there after taking out the cpu anyways

#

also did any of you ask if there were any debug leds lit lol

jagged ember
#

I think he doesn't know how to take out the cpu

sacred obsidian
#

Honestly I forgot about the original container 😅

wild crane
dusky hearth
#

well

#

i certainly cant see

#

😂

jagged ember
#

me if i took off my glasses and stared really close at it lol

wild crane
#

I cant either i have 3 cpus and i think tjays the old one

jagged ember
#

try taking a photo with your zoomed phone camera

dusky hearth
#

3? damn

sacred obsidian
#

Lol same. Is the pins on the cpu or the mobo side?

wild crane
dusky hearth
#

am4 is pga

jagged ember
#

am4 is still pins on cpu

sacred obsidian
#

Oh ok it's am4

dusky hearth
#

did you miss the 5700x3d lol

#

wait

#

not x3d

wild crane
#

The old one is a ryzen 3 withe intergrated graphics and i have a 3000 seroes ryzen 7

dusky hearth
#

just x

sacred obsidian
#

Honestly bruh I haven't been paying attention to the pc scene for a long time and IDK how high the numbers got when they switched lmao

dusky hearth
#

they switched at 7000

jagged ember
#

also did we check for debug LEDs already

wild crane
#

No?

jagged ember
#

I know you brought it up before but I don't think we got an answer

wild crane
#

Whrre would yhey be?

dusky hearth
#

top right for tomahawk afaik

#

yeah top right

wild crane
dusky hearth
#

see what is silkscreened on it

jagged ember
#

that's them

sacred obsidian
jagged ember
#

the red ones

wild crane
#

Ok what do they mean?

dusky hearth
#

look at the label

jagged ember
#

each light will have letters written next to em

wild crane
#

Ok

jagged ember
#

(silkscreened is the official term)

wild crane
#

Dram?

dusky hearth
#

that could be either cpu or ram tbh, but ram is easier to test

#

idk if that's been done yet though

jagged ember
#

me neither

dusky hearth
#

have you tried to turn it on with only one stick

wild crane
#

How woukd i test it

jagged ember
#

I came in same time you did lol

dusky hearth
#

lmao

dusky hearth
#

try with one stick

sacred obsidian
#

Take out both ram sticks, put one in to a2, turn it on

wild crane
#

Whoch is a2 f

dusky hearth
#

the left one

wild crane
#

Left most

dusky hearth
#

goes a1, a2, b1, b2

jagged ember
#

the one closest to the cpu is a1

wild crane
#

Ok just got one in a2

jagged ember
#

the one farthest is b2

dusky hearth
#

try turning it on

wild crane
#

no debug light now

#

Wait now its back

#

Wait now its not

sacred obsidian
#

Give it a sec

jagged ember
#

i also just want to confirm you did this after you turned the pc off

wild crane
#

Cpu

dusky hearth
#

btw have you been turning off the power before doing hw changes

wild crane
#

It switch9nt between all of them

dusky hearth
#

(you should have been doing that)

jagged ember
#

you didn't just take the ram out of the socket without power down?

dusky hearth
#

ok good

jagged ember
#

whew

#

nearly kenzied there

dusky hearth
#

lmao

wild crane
#

Its going through all the lights

dusky hearth
#

my friend shorted the ram VRMs with a screwdriver by accident once

#

☠️

sacred obsidian
#

Over and over?

wild crane
#

Imma swithc rams

sacred obsidian
#

I have another idea if this doesn't work

#

If this one doesn't work, try putting one stick in A1 instead. Left most slot

wild crane
#

Now its just on cpu

#

Amd vga and aoot?

sacred obsidian
#

Wat

jagged ember
#

that says boot

dusky hearth
#

all 3 leds?

#

at the same time?

wild crane
#

Oh

#

No

#

Also gpu fans are on

dusky hearth
#

probably just warm enough to spin now

wild crane
#

Is that bad

dusky hearth
#

no

sacred obsidian
#

What led is on right now?

dusky hearth
#

rather it's a good sign that the vbios chip is still working fine

wild crane
#

Non

dusky hearth
#

for the gpu

#

hmm

sacred obsidian
#

Ok let it run for a min and see if it posts

#

It might take a few when you move stuff around a lot

wild crane
#

My keyboard is on now too

jagged ember
#

ram training might be happening

plucky timber
#

He did update bios

jagged ember
#

go get a cup of water

plucky timber
#

So

wild crane
#

Imma make a milk shake brb yall

plucky timber
#

Maybe let it run for a couple minutes

sacred obsidian
#

Make me one

dusky hearth
#

damn

jagged ember
#

just like step out and take a lil break yeah

dusky hearth
#

a whole milkshake

jagged ember
#

also damn bro's making a whole milkshake

wild crane
dusky hearth
#

"my milkshake brings all the boys to the yard" as they say

wild crane
#

Side adventure

dusky hearth
#

lol

sacred obsidian
jagged ember
#

new quest: make a milkshake

sacred obsidian
#

Fiery's house soon

wild crane
#

Milkshake takes priority

#

Ok now to see if the pc works

#

AAAAHH

sacred obsidian
#

WOO

wild crane
#

WAIT

jagged ember
#

lets go

#

ez clap

sacred obsidian
#

So this is with one stick in a2, correct?

wild crane
#

Restart right?

plucky timber
#

Oh my god

#

It boots

dusky hearth
#

could try with 2 sticks again

plucky timber
jagged ember
#

yeah do two sticks after power off

plucky timber
#

Yeah turn the power off

wild crane
#

Ok

plucky timber
#

Cheer lads

sacred obsidian
#

Only took a village 😂

plucky timber
#

Replace the beer with milkshake

jagged ember
#

i want to say it was the milkshake that fixed it

sacred obsidian
#

Or... Beer shakes.

wild crane
#

I slipped while running in excitement

plucky timber
#

Beer shake cocktail

sacred obsidian
#

Actually a beer shake sounds gross lol

plucky timber
#

Very

dusky hearth
jagged ember
#

pc wasn't damaged but human got damaged smh

sacred obsidian
#

😂

jagged ember
#

that milkshake better be fine it was the only reason the pc worked-

wild crane
#

I gotta clean up glass rq

jagged ember
#

oh god

plucky timber
#

NOOOOOO

sacred obsidian
#

I guess it wasn't

plucky timber
#

NOT THE MILKSHAKE

dusky hearth
#

the pc lives.... but at what cost

jagged ember
wild crane
#

Pc is still booting

wild crane
jagged ember
#

oh

sacred obsidian
#

That's fine give it time. If it gets stuck on that vram light it means that stick you just put in is dead. Which means you just gotta replace that one stick

plucky timber
#

Lmao

wild crane
#

Im not responsible enough to put my drinks into glass😂

#

Just knocked some stuff off a shelf on accident

#

My pc also keeps restarting it hasnt fully booted yet

sacred obsidian
#

That's why I buy plastic cups that look like nice glass ones

plucky timber
#

Probably windows being funny

jagged ember
#

that does mean it's alive tho

#

just binbows being stupid

wild crane
#

Its back to the black screen with windows logo

plucky timber
#

It's might be trying to figure out what's going on

wild crane
plucky timber
#

In classic annoying Microsoft fashion

wild crane
#

Good start tho first screen ive gotten out of this pc in like a week

plucky timber
#

critical service failed

#

Sounds like a windows problem

wild crane
#

How do i fix that(

plucky timber
#

Uh

jagged ember
#

pfft windows being stupid fr

wild crane
#

It just keeps restarting

plucky timber
#

I want to say reinstall windows

wild crane
#

How does one do that?

jagged ember
#

probably just do a startup repair with installation media on a flash drive

wild crane
#

WAIT

plucky timber
#

But maybe order new ssd screws first

jagged ember
#

unless you don't care about any files on your current install

wild crane
plucky timber
#

Oh my god

wild crane
#

Wait nvm

jagged ember
#

oh hey

wild crane
#

It just restarted again😂

#

😭

dusky hearth
#

might just be windows being confused about a new cpu

plucky timber
#

Windows does that alot

dusky hearth
#

new phone who dis

wild crane
plucky timber
#

It fixes itself

#

Or it doesn't

dusky hearth
#

theoretically

jagged ember
#

I'd prep a windows media installation on a flash drive using a different computer

plucky timber
#

Windows is a prick

#

^

jagged ember
#

great

sacred obsidian
#

If you get into recovery mode you can reinstall Windows from there

dusky hearth
#

there's actually a way to do it on android phones as well

jagged ember
#

windows 10, right?

dusky hearth
#

idk where the guide is though

wild crane
#

Yes

plucky timber
#

I mean in theory it works

#

Probably like linux

#

Do you just copy the iso using the terminal?

wild crane
jagged ember
#

download that on your other pc, plug in a flash drive, run the program and get it installed onto the flash drive

#

it does say windows 10

sacred obsidian
#

I would just reinstall from recovery mode. If he does fresh install from media after changing his CPU, isn't there a chance it won't recognize his key and he'd have to buy it again?

jagged ember
#

its linked to his MS account probably

wild crane
#

Wait my pc turned off

jagged ember
#

and i was thinking of booting from it and doing a startup repair instead anyway

wild crane
#

I dont kn ow why

dusky hearth
#

are you still running 1 stick or did you put the other stick in

wild crane
#

1

plucky timber
#

YOOO

#

ventoy is on android?

#

Damn

wild crane
sacred obsidian
#

Turn on the PC, as soon as you see boot screen hold the power til it turns off. Do that 3 times then turn it on. It should reboot into recovery mode for you

plucky timber
#

Funny multiboot usb flash tool

wild crane
sacred obsidian
#

No, hold power.

wild crane
#

And its back to restartong

sacred obsidian
#

Hold power until it turns off, then turn it back on and repeat 3 times.

wild crane
#

Wait send the download for windows 10 again please

sacred obsidian
#

You shouldn't need it if you can get into recovery mode

jagged ember
#

Idk why its the Canadian site when I'm not even there kekw

wild crane
#

Does this usb work

sacred obsidian
#

Recovery mode has it's own reinstaller

jagged ember
#

If the install itself is corrupted

plucky timber
#

Any usb works

wild crane
#

Download tool?

jagged ember
#

Also anything on that flash drive is gonna go bye bye

jagged ember
#

If you got something important on that drive save it

wild crane
#

Its empty

#

How do i download it now?

jagged ember
#

So click on the link and hit download

wild crane
#

I only see update now

#

And download tool noe

#

Oh download tool now

#

Right?

jagged ember
#

Download tool yeah

wild crane
#

Ok now open?

jagged ember
#

Once it's downloaded yeah

wild crane
#

It gave me a pop up hit accept?

jagged ember
#

Yep

wild crane
#

Getting a few thing ready

jagged ember
#

It's making a milkshake too

wild crane
#

Oh great i can share with yall

jagged ember
#

Wonderful

wild crane
#

Wait can i swith the old pc to windows 11 freely?

#

I like the look more

jagged ember
#

Sure you can but depending on what's in it

#

Could be not supported

wild crane
#

Nvm ill keep 10

jagged ember
#

I forget their hardware requirements tho

dusky hearth
#

if you use rufus you could just ignore the requirements

wild crane
#

Its needs to be 8 gb

jagged ember
#

Oh

#

Also that yeah

#

I forgot to mention

#

I just assumed most drives would be 8+

wild crane
#

I dont got a 8 gb drive i dont think

jagged ember
#

Anything bigger?

wild crane
#

Spidrman can only hold 3

wild crane
jagged ember
#

8+GB will work

dusky hearth
#

technically even an external ssd could work afaik lmfao

#

as long as it's empty

jagged ember
#

Also true

wild crane
#

What about an xbox drive?

jagged ember
#

Would have been my next step haha

dusky hearth
#

is there a way to connect it via usb?

wild crane
jagged ember
#

Ooh you might not be able to use it for your Xbox after iirc

wild crane
#

I dont ise it anyway

dusky hearth
#

also yeah there might be custom files on it

jagged ember
#

Something About how it's formatted on Xbox makes it exclusive

#

So stupid

#

But it would work for an installation media

wild crane
#

can i change thay?

#

Ots not popping up

dusky hearth
#

you would likely need to reformat the drive

wild crane
#

Thats not gonna work i dont think

jagged ember
#

I think it needs to be formatted in drive management

dusky hearth
#

honestly speaking, you could wait till tomorrow

jagged ember
#

Yeah

wild crane
dusky hearth
#

buy a cheap usb drive

jagged ember
#

That too

#

Probably try to get the PC in recovery mode for now

wild crane
#

But who would i be to not look

wild crane
#

What about this?

dusky hearth
#

dAMN

wild crane
#

Good?

dusky hearth
#

a physical windows disk

wild crane
#

What about it?

#

My grandparents old

wild crane
#

Does it work tho?

dusky hearth
#

should

wild crane
#

Okimma turn my working pc off

#

Turning not working one on

dusky hearth
#

i wouldnt call it not working one anymore

#

i would call it the semi working one

wild crane
#

No windows one

#

Nwo

sacred obsidian
#

Geez I haven't seen a physical windows disk in years

wild crane
#

And my wo

wild crane
#

Goddamit am i glad to see it tho

#

Ok its on and restarting now whay

jagged ember
#

Oh my god I come back and see the physical disk

sacred obsidian
#

Yeah that's hella good luck lol

dusky hearth
#

even the shops with the windows boxes also just come with a usb

#

where i am

jagged ember
#

When am I

dusky hearth
#

who am i

jagged ember
#

How am I

sacred obsidian
#

I honestly didn't even know windows 10 had disks 😂

wild crane
#

Its diagnosing my pc

#

Good or no?

plucky timber
dusky hearth
#

possibly good

jagged ember
#

If it ends up booting into windows good

dusky hearth
#

most people dont know you can make installation media with an android phone

jagged ember
#

Telekinesis

sacred obsidian
#

I knew you could get it with premade USB sticks

wild crane
#

Also if i get my old one to work can o return the mew one to newegg?

dusky hearth
#

hell, most people dont even know how to make installation media with a pc

plucky timber
#

Or a usb

wild crane
wild crane
sacred obsidian
#

Advanced options

plucky timber
#

That's in the windows install

dusky hearth
#

if it's within the return period yeah

jagged ember
wild crane
plucky timber
#

Did you boot into the install medium?

wild crane
jagged ember
#

He didn't get the installation media cause he doesn't have a thumb drive big enough

#

Troubleshoot

sacred obsidian
#

Troubleshoot

dusky hearth
#

Troubleshoot

plucky timber
#

Wait

wild crane
#

Reset this pc or advanced options

plucky timber
#

I thought he's using the disc

jagged ember
#

Advanced

wild crane
jagged ember
#

O he is lol

#

Kekw

wild crane
#

Im at this

plucky timber
#

Yeah you're not on the disc

#

You're on the

#

Wait what

dusky hearth
#

they're on the wait what?

plucky timber
#

huh

wild crane
#

So wait do i go backM

jagged ember
#

Startup repair would be my first step

plucky timber
#

Wait are you in the windows recovery or the disc

wild crane
plucky timber
#

Anyways doesn't matter for now

dusky hearth
#

disk windows recovery

sacred obsidian
#

Yeah

wild crane
#

What do i do?

sacred obsidian
#

Windows media has start up repair told too

wild crane
sacred obsidian
#

Click start up repair

wild crane
#

Done

jagged ember
#

Hope it works

wild crane
#

Diagnosing pv

#

Eait it is using disk

dusky hearth
#

time to sleep and wait

plucky timber
#

No it's checking for disk errors

jagged ember
#

Gib time

#

Also it's checking drive for errors

sacred obsidian
#

That's step 1. See if it fixes. If not, navigate back and try system image recovery next. If that doesn't work, then I would use the reset my PC option

jagged ember
#

It just says disk because they don't update the wording

wild crane
#

Ok

plucky timber
#

Could be a funny efi 🤷‍♀️

#

Or anything really

wild crane
#

But this mean my pc isnt cooked?

plucky timber
#

Windows isn't very specific

jagged ember
#

Yes

dusky hearth
#

considering that you're able to boot

wild crane
#

WAAHOOO

jagged ember
#

Just windows is broked

dusky hearth
#

yes, your pc isnt a lost cause

sacred obsidian
#

Nah your PC is fine. Rn it's windows being dumb about something

plucky timber
#

As always

#

I'd order a bunch of ssd screws

dusky hearth
#

me when software issues

plucky timber
#

I reinstall windows every year

#

It's just that annoying

dusky hearth
#

damn

#

dedication

plucky timber
#

Every year something funny happens

jagged ember
#

I just run sfc and dism constantly

dusky hearth
#

i wait until my windows install is broken enough that i cant stand it anymore then reinstall

wild crane
#

Also do yall think my ram is done or can i try putting that back ehen im done

sacred obsidian
#

Make sure you tell your Gramps you fixed it all by yourself, without the help of random strangers on Newegg, cause you're secretly a super genius

dusky hearth
#

you could try

#

real

jagged ember
#

Try with the other stick after it's done

sacred obsidian
#

You can try putting it back in. If it gets stuck on the vram light, then that stick of ram is bad.

dusky hearth
#

i kinda doubt the ram is dead tbh

#

it likely was just the ram training

plucky timber
#

Yeah

wild crane
dusky hearth
#

considering that the ram was working before the cpu upgrade presumably

jagged ember
#

Ram now knows how to sit

#

Next it needs to roll over

wild crane
#

Attepmting repairs btw

plucky timber
#

By Newegg peeps

jagged ember
#

We are the research

dusky hearth
#

combined we probably have months of research

#

if not years

plucky timber
#

Yeah

wild crane
plucky timber
#

Foxy was here for a while too

jagged ember
#

Foxy smort

sacred obsidian
#

Just remember when you put the ram back in, give it time to boot.

dusky hearth
#

well, it's honestly not just research

plucky timber
#

A lot of past experience

jagged ember
dusky hearth
#

it's also hands on problem solving

wild crane
dusky hearth
#

yeah

jagged ember
#

Yes

plucky timber
#

My experience is probably outdated at this point

dusky hearth
#

i wouldnt say so

wild crane
sacred obsidian
dusky hearth
#

most should still apply

plucky timber
#

Yeah

wild crane
plucky timber
#

I'm a rookie when it comes to anything newer than AM4

#

Especially with DDR5 platforms

dusky hearth
#

my hardware knowledge of what's currently good is absolutely outdated though

wild crane
# plucky timber Yeah

My new prebuilt is more outdated then my pc i built liek 5 years ago only new thing on the pre built is windows 11

jagged ember
#

All I know is 7800x good

dusky hearth
#

only goes up to 3000 series ryzen for me lmfao

plucky timber
#

I just look on pcpp and sort by price

wild crane
sacred obsidian
dusky hearth
#

i just look at rtings for the stuff they test

sacred obsidian
#

That's when I stopped using my PC.

plucky timber
#

It's probably up to Ryzen 7000 for me

#

Intel is a blank

wild crane
#

Should i reset my new pre built and re box it?

plucky timber
#

Mostly because they're been kinda mediocre except for the mid range

plucky timber
#

Yes

dusky hearth
#

all i know about intel is like, 12th gen was better value

wild crane
plucky timber
#

Future upgrade money

#

Yeah good idea

dusky hearth
#

i doubt its still true

#

maybe it is, maybe it isnt

#

lmfao

plucky timber
#

It was true because

jagged ember
#

Return it fr you can't sell it for more than the price you bought it haha

plucky timber
#

i5 something

wild crane
jagged ember
#

Nobody's gonna buy it

plucky timber
#

12400kf?

#

No

#

There's no K in 400

#

12400F

wild crane
#

After this wholr new cpu problem i will not be upgrading anything that isnt ram

plucky timber
#

Ironically

sacred obsidian
#

I'm willing to bet the issue is someone removed the ram and it wasn't seated properly. Idk why the ram would've been removed tho

dusky hearth
#

cpu upgrades usually are not this bad LOL

plucky timber
#

(i think it was your gramps)

wild crane
#

Maybe idk

#

Doesnt matter now

plucky timber
#

I think it was just ram training

#

New bios

dusky hearth
#

im sure your gramps is a lovely guy but damn he broke the pins off the old cpu

#

i think that tells enough

#

lmfao

wild crane
sacred obsidian
#

I mean it happens. That's why we tell people to reseat things. You never know. The only time it sucks is when people say "ok I reseated it" when they didn't lol

plucky timber
#

Yeah

#

Ram is very annoying

dusky hearth
jagged ember
#

Exactly

plucky timber
#

Half of my issues were probably memory related

#

Something something memory oc

#

Windows went kaput

wild crane
#

Also how long does attempting repairs take?

dusky hearth
#

i have memory issues due to my cursed mix of bdie and cheapo ram

sacred obsidian
#

It can take a while

plucky timber
#

Milkshake time

dusky hearth
#

2x16gb silicon power and 2x8gb patriot viper

wild crane
#

Also how does one reset a pv?

#

Pc

sacred obsidian
dusky hearth
#

lmao

plucky timber
dusky hearth
plucky timber
#

That was because I dropped one of my sticks but I also needed more ram

wild crane
plucky timber
#

How long have you been using it

#

Usually the windows reset works

wild crane
#

A few hours

plucky timber
#

Ok yeah just reset it

wild crane
#

Where is windows reset?

jagged ember
plucky timber
#

True

jagged ember
#

Format the whole thing and do an install

plucky timber
#

Gets rid of everything

sacred obsidian
#

Same. Studying for a+ has been so difficult. Like I can build a PC and do a lot of things no problem but don't ask me to memorize what raid does what or what bash commands do what like they just won't stick

plucky timber
#

Accounts and stuff

jagged ember
#

Makes sure it's hard to recover anything from the PC

wild crane
#

Well i just wanna return it

plucky timber
#

The difference between an A and an A+ is like a different between a C and an A

#

The amount of extra work you have to put in

wild crane
#

All i have is my google account tarkov acount and discord

plucky timber
#

💀

jagged ember
plucky timber
#

Yeah you don't want anyone getting their hands on your info

#

So

wild crane
#

Oh yea that too

plucky timber
#

Account logins

jagged ember
#

That's the most important account

wild crane
#

Ok fair point

jagged ember
#

Microsoft one haha

sacred obsidian
#

Are we both talking about the same thing? Comptia a+ cert?

wild crane
#

Do i need a windows 11 drive to do the reset?

plucky timber
#

Wait

#

Oh

dusky hearth
#

better method is to securely wipe the drive with 1 and 0 randomly, then reinstall frfr

sacred obsidian
#

😂

plucky timber
#

I thought you meant grades in general

jagged ember
#

Windows 11 yeah, since that's what it came with

dusky hearth
sacred obsidian
#

Nah I'm trying to get tech certs

wild crane
#

I aint got a cd for that

plucky timber
#

Uh

#

Time to get a new usb

wild crane
jagged ember
#

Oh yeah he doesn't lol

plucky timber
#

Ok so

dusky hearth
plucky timber
#

You should order:
M.2 screws
USB drive

sacred obsidian
#

You can just boot into recovery mode derpyBlob

wild crane
#

Ill worry about it tomorrow then and guess who im going to for help‼️

jagged ember
#

Not a windows reset that doesn't really do too much haha

sacred obsidian
#

Pretty sure windows 11 recovery mode provides that option

plucky timber
#

It's like fixing a broken hammer with a broken anvil

sacred obsidian
#

It asks if you're restoring it to sell or to keep for that reason

plucky timber
#

Terrible analogy but

wild crane
#

WAIT

jagged ember
#

Windows reset != Full drive wipe

dusky hearth
#

which part of the hammer you fixing

wild crane
#

This good?

dusky hearth
#

if it's a steel hammer it's kinda hard to fix since the whole head is tempered

plucky timber
#

Very terrible analogy 💀

dusky hearth
#

lmao

jagged ember
dusky hearth
#

good luck getting the correct temper on a hammer head

jagged ember
# wild crane

You can try hit continue now if that screen popped up after the repair

sacred obsidian
jagged ember
#

Fair

plucky timber
#

It does become a problem when the install becomes corrupt

jagged ember
#

But it'll be more secure and tomorrow he'll have a drive he can use for the same purpose later

dusky hearth
jagged ember
#

And yes, it doesn't work well if the installation borked somewhere

#

Okay brb

plucky timber
#

Same with any os really

#

I have a handy multiboot with a bunch of isos for this reason

dusky hearth
#

im going to sleep 🛌

wild crane
#

Wait now it just goes back to what it was doi g before

#

Your device ran into a problem:(

#

Press any key to boot from cd or dvd?

plucky timber
#

Yes

wild crane
#

Ok diagnosing pc

plucky timber
#

Try shutting it down then starting it after

#

Not just a restart

wild crane
#

Restart or advanced option

plucky timber
#

Uh

#

Shutdown

wild crane
#

Ok turned it off

plucky timber
#

Then press power button

wild crane
#

Ok

#

Went back to the sme thing ran into a problem restart
