I think the 1060 gets 1500 mhz?
like a really hilarious cheap mobo or psu
5600x is a low power cpu though, it won't be much of an issue
Does it have OC capabilities?
I wouldnt cpu overclock much with that motherboard
meh I'd just flip the entire old pc without storage
Is it better than the PRIME A320M-K?
Full rig upgrade basically?
yep
You could also do this, and add the profits from it to the budget
open up your budget a bit
Should be able to get 225-350 for it depending on the buyer
that would give you a lot of options
I could turn the list into something that's quite nice
Also how often does the average PC gamer upgrade their CPUs and GPUs, after like 5-6 years?
Sure I'd appreciate it
Yeah also I have an Acer Predator monitor that goes to 165hz, someone told me there's no way I'm reaching 165hz with my current GPU, that's true right?
Well
165 fps, no
Hz is the refresh rate, most gpus can run 1080p 165hz with ease, but most games a 1060 will not hit 165 fps
Gotcha
decent ballpark
Part List - Intel Core i5-12600KF, Radeon RX 6700 XT, BitFenix Nova Mesh M ARGB MicroATX Mini Tower
could also sku the way of a 5600+6800
I'd spend the extra for GT 650
results will be fairly similar but no ddr5 nor much upgradability
oh yeah the psu oops
Thanks, WOW that is a rig!
fixed it with the GT
Wait there might be one other option, give me a sec
Think we're starting to get to that point where, if not at the very bottom of the barrel, ddr5 is taking the fore
What's DDR5?
It says I have 16GB of RAM
bigger better better number
how difficult is to get colour specific parts outside of like black and white for lets say around 1k-1.5k if there are even any? ofc i know spray paint and the such are options but
yeah I'd say 16gb isn't really equitable now
it feels like you cant find anything that isnt way overpriced in any nice colours
spray paint as you mentioned, definitely the easiest option
32 GB is the new standard for RAM?
colour matching outside black and white very difficult
Ok there's a way to get 12600kf, b660m pro rs, ans 16gb ddr4 for $201
ark uses 16gb of ram at like 1080p
real
Wait
max graphics of course
12600kf b660m pro rs 32gb ddr4 for $225
id think so, being not in enough demand ofc
it's not unusable, but it's definitely not gonna last much longer
If you go on newegg, go to their combo up savings
yeah and its not that expensive
Select 12600kf, b660m pro rs, and the 32gb ddr4 OLOY kit of ram
are stickers a bad idea at all on the internals in a build?
Far better value
nope
So if I wanna cheap out and just get a new CPU/GPU, what's the best I could do?
12600kf, b660m pro rs, 32gb OLOY ddr4 kit from this link for $224
https://www.newegg.com/Combo-Up-Savings/EventSaleStore/ID-1740
fair enough
Ft120 air cooler
i'm starting to build a pc, and i was wondering if a ryzen 5 5600 with a gtx 1050 ti can run fortnite on at least 100 fps
Gt650 for psu
1050 ti is a bit low for fortnite, do you already own anything?
it could but at performance mode
Or is this a completely new build
no lol
What's your budget and country?
i was also thinking about a 1660 super
around 500 to 600 usd (i'm in texas)
Alright do the same bundle I mentioned above with this
https://www.newegg.com/Combo-Up-Savings/EventSaleStore/ID-1740
12600kf, b660m pro rs, and 32gb ddr4 OLOY kit
Comes to $224
i would look on your used facebook marketplace market
Ye
alr
you can find some good deals on facebook marketplace
just have to take the tim eto look
Here's the rest of the build
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/qPc9PF
Part List - Intel Core i5-12600KF, Radeon RX 6600, Cougar MX331 MESH-X ATX Mid Tower
i have all the parts i want on amazon and it comes to $597
like it might take a hour to find a good deal
@small sail https://pcpartpicker.com/list/2z94mD
https://www.newegg.com/Combo-Up-Savings/EventSaleStore/ID-1740
12600kf, b660m pro rs, and 32gb ddr4 OLOY kit
Part List - Intel Core i5-12600KF, Radeon RX 6800, BitFenix Nova Mesh M ARGB MicroATX Mini Tower
That would be a lot better than anything else available
1050 ti isnt good
6600 is far better than the 1050 ti, it's around the 1080 in performance
how much is it on amazon
well its with a 1660 super instead of a 1050
I think we can do a slightly better case
Part List - Intel Core i5-12600KF, Radeon RX 6600, BitFenix Nova Mesh M ARGB MicroATX Mini Tower
that would let you upgrade the gpu later
i have a motherboard, ram, ssd, cpu, cpu cooler, and case; i only need a graphics card
if not this
Part List - Intel Core i5-12600KF, Radeon RX 6600, BitFenix Nova Mesh M ARGB MicroATX Mini Tower
what have you bought and the 600 is for the gpu alone?
i got nothin. everything i listed is what i got in my amazon cart💀
then yeah one of the above lists will be better
600 is scraping it in
and suprisingly you can get a VERY good i5 for 600
apparently a 6600 is the way to go then
yeah you should get 165 pretty constantly with it in fortnite prob even 240
1080p yea
i play on my ancient dell, so really anything at this point
So either way I have to full rig it? I can't just go with a CPU/GPU?
its going to be like 10 times better
i play fort on 20-30 fps on THE LOWEST SETTINGS POSSIBLE. it looks like an 8-bit game at this point and still crashes
your gonna get 200 plus
bet
its the same one on the parts list
only? dang
i had 500 already, so maybe ill find a 550 watt
i wouldnt get 400 if i were you
I would yea.
If you end up with more from flipping the pc. This.
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/fcPwFs
Part List - Intel Core i5-12600KF, Radeon RX 6800, BitFenix Nova Mesh M ARGB MicroATX Mini Tower
same sale
I had all the parts in a list I sent here
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/fbr4mD
Part List - Intel Core i5-12600KF, Radeon RX 6600, BitFenix Nova Mesh M ARGB MicroATX Mini Tower
Curious, why should I go full rig? Is it dangerous and incompatible with the other components?
nah it's more like, you'll net higher overall and you can carry it over to a stronger system
Felix is suggesting from a point of value, but if you need it cheaper, I'd keep your case and current storage
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/J7HPL9
Part List - Intel Core i5-12600KF, Radeon RX 6600
It's up to you if you want to invest this deeply
500 or 600 is watt i'll do (ba-dum tshh)
If you absolutely need it cheaper, 5600x, keep your mobo and ram for now.
end of the day these lists are all decent
True, I'm just curious, the lists are great it's just the cost that turns me off lol
Part List - AMD Ryzen 5 5600X, Radeon RX 6600
Plus I like my case
me too
That depends on model
There's a lot of psus that are fire hazard
Taking it under the assumed instance you sell your current pc for a given amount
The cheapest psus that aren't at the moment are abn 550 and 650, apevia Prestige, 600w, and evga GT 650
Oh then that's fair, I don't really intend to get rid of it, I just wanted to do a couple upgrades
Sure
You could also look for a used cpu, like a 3600, 5500, 5600, 4500, etc
the thing with pc gaming rn, the entry level has been fluctuating between 550 and 700 for years
Or a used gpu like a 1080 ti, 5700xt, 2060 and above, 6600 and above, etc
It's just I'm not into a full-rig sort of thing but at the same time I don't wanna get a bunch of components that end up not being compatible or fry it
yeah used 5700xt works
Biggest thing is I'd upgrade your psu for sure
my main concern is the motherboard tbh
Actuallt no, biggest thing is get an SSD
You think used CPUs and GPUs would be a big upgrade over my current ones?
prime ab350 wasn't great
yes
Getting an ssd for your OS drive is HUGE
I've heard SSDs are very important for a performance boost, yeah
You know how when you turn your pc on, stuff opens and your pc lags for the first 2-20 minutes?
There's no short exaggeration of the number of times faster your pc will feel with a whole overhaul
And opening games and such can take a very long time?
An ssd for your windows drive will fix that COMPLETELY
Yuuuup, disk usage is always 100% for me as soon as I login for like 10 mins, very annoying
Like, 5-15 second and your pc is completely usable
Damn
Atp I'd just go for the $36 16gb kit
SOUNDS GREAT TO ME lmao
Should be $200 for cpu mobo and ram
thats what i'm getting
lol
Pls tell me the psu you're getting isn't the Thermaltake smart 80+ white
Anything would be a huge difference for me, I've gotten accustomed to my 6 year old pc but it's noticeably far slower than when I got it
WHY'S IT MORE
Is it cheaper than the pro rs with the sale?
one says save $5 the other says save $15
Makes sense
the psu i was gonna get was the thermaltake smart 600w. is it a fire hazard yes or no?
smart is a bomb
it's a power supply
it does power supply things
with zero safeties
And its on amazon too
i'm broke af so i cant go super quality lol
I would save a little bit then
but this'll do
If we can snake oil you $15 into FAR BETTER safety, I'd gladly be a salesman
difference between a house fire and no parts lost
lol idk
it's that big of a difference
would rather spend the extra money and get something that will last and work than get something that might have a chance to break what you just bought
at this point my laptop could blow any minute
ive learned from experience
if ANYTHING you walk away with today, it's the good psu
when i say i'm broke, i mean the only thing i can afford myself is the case
parents buying?
nah just me
Can you link the other parts you're buying? Odds are there's cheaper alternatives for some
it's better to cheap out on literally any part over the psu
we've fallen sub 600
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/FqJJ28

12600kf, b660m pro rs, and 32gb ddr4 OLOY kit
Part List - Intel Core i5-12600KF, Radeon RX 5700 XT, BitFenix Nova Mesh M ARGB MicroATX Mini Tower
my parents are the ones who are gonna make me pay for anything
are you saying youre still saving up?
Part List - Intel Core i5-12600KF, Radeon RX 5700 XT, Deepcool MATREXX 40 MicroATX Mini Tower
or are tehy going to buy and then you just pay them back over time?
$509
Could also do a used nvidia gpu
Like a 2060
Oh wait
Just swap the ram to the 16gb kit, and its $24 cheaper
$485
Would rather go no case 💀

Is there any chance of you being able to order off of places other than Amazon
not really
That completely sucks ok let me see what I can do
ordering specifically off one place is how you get the cost to skyrocket
deals are in every store not just one
then why did you come to the newegg server

We're suggesting newegg and amazon
and if you do the 5700XT, as a used card that would be the fastest card you could do
Sub $500 now, we're heading into jank
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/dxdyRK
https://www.newegg.com/Combo-Up-Savings/EventSaleStore/ID-1740
Select 12600kf, b660m pro rs, and 32gb ddr4 OLOY kit in the newegg sale
Part List - Intel Core i5-12600KF, Radeon RX 5700 XT
we're starting to really peak as far as value for money here
for context, 5700XT is faster than a 6600
Part List - AMD Ryzen 5 5500, Arc A580, Cougar MX331 MESH-X ATX Mid Tower
$10 over
7900 GRE vs 7800xt?
It's hard to recommend something that hasn't been tested thoroughly, and there isn't a single entry on hwbot that shows how well it overclocks. If the vram overclocks well like Felix and I think it will, then the GRE is a no brainer, but I haven't seen anyone overclock it yet.
Start bugging GN and HUB to overclock their cards. It's not something they normally do but if it turns out to be interesting enough then they'll do a video on it.
If Der8auer or AHOC get their hands on one that would be ideal. They do a lot of unconventional overclocking and know how to push the limits.
they should of just called it the RX 7900 for its global launch
they did the same with the RX 6800
It launches tomorrow so we should get more info in a couple days.
if it can overclock well im excited
might be another good rnda3 offering
thats at the "midrange" price
also will make 7700/7800 cheaper prob
If the memory can easily go from 18 to at least the 19.5 the XT is rated for with just sliders in afterburner then I'll be happy to recommend it
It should be the same memory chips as the XT and XTX so it should in theory barring vbios limits
I'm imagining it'll match the 4070s, or at least come very close
i thought it was supposed to be like 5-10% faster than 4070s
GN shows it beating the 4070S by a small margin
HUB shows it losing by a small margin
was his pulse OCed at all
i only watched a bit of it this morning before I went into work
If it scales well and easily with oc, then it'd be very well priced
We'd likely see price cuts in 4070s/4070 on nvidias end if that's the case
If it was then it's just a standard factory OC of like 30Mhz on core
Sapphire nitro+ gre shows power limit slider goes up to +15% which gives it a 280W limit
7900 XT tdp is like 330 right?
or was that XTX
Does it having lower clock speeds affect it though
or is that absolutely ignored because of OC
If we're overclocking it anyway we can ignore that for the most part
It's a navi 31 die so we know it should be able to hit "2400" (actual speed is very different) given enough power to do so
speaking of OCing.. i want to be on the top of this for whatever reason
bottom 35% 💀
You've got a full 2500 points to catch up then, and overclock CPU, GPU, and RAM on LN2
how do i beat him then
a whole dollar 😩
Use MPT (more power tool) to give higher power limit, oc and undervolt
And ram tune
Ram tuning would help gpu score more than you'd think
maybe ill play around with it more when I caseswap and get a new psu
6950xt eats power
Damn better buy it right now
Is it possible for an HDD to corrupt while not installed or in use?
For some reason, whenever I try to swap my girlfriend's HDD with my old one (yes I remembered to swap both sata and data connectors and not to leave the other one plugged to a different sata connector), it boots to the Recover warning screen, even though it's not the boot drive being changed
It was never corrupted before
Well crap
It was that drive
My other HDD boots with no problem
For some reason, that specific hdd corrupted while not in use I think
Somehow preventing the PC from booting at all
They could indeed corrupt over time without use
Some idiot is gonna put this in #tech-deals 💀
shoot my wifi just cut cya
Hey could someone help me I’m not sure what to plug in where on my psu
Might be dying as well; depends on how it's stored and transported
Also HDD boot in 2024? That's wild
That's the thing, I never used it as a boot drive
I actually used my other HDD as a boot because my ssd was taking a while to arrive but then I immediately switched to nvme
Oh plugging in the drive into the system causes issues
Yeah that HDD is most likely damaged
that's really unfortunate for me
I've seen old drives cause PC's to fail POST
1.8tb of files gone
If they're important files, you could spend like $200 to get the files back
I don't think they're worth $200, but I did have a bunch of games, two years worth of clips with my friends, and some saves, mods, and other misc files I used
Well, I'm not 100% certain that your drive is dead dead, but you've tested connecting another hdd and that worked so it probably is an issue with your drive
Also I just double checked and the price could be anywhere from $100-1k
Depending on the type of failure
It should be like a 3 prong cable it’s a little bulky at the end
It should come with your psu
You could try connecting it through USB once you're already booted to windows
And then try repairing the drive in windows
You'd need an hdd enclosure but they're cheap enough
No gaurantee it works though
Is this motherboard fine I can get it part of a deal https://www.newegg.com/asrock-b650e-pg-riptide-wifi/p/N82E16813162079?Item=N82E16813162079&nm_mc=AFC-RAN-COM&cm_mmc=afc-ran-com-_-PCPartPicker&utm_medium=affiliate&utm_campaign=afc-ran-com-_-PCPartPicker&utm_source=afc-PCPartPicker&AFFID=2558510&AFFNAME=PCPartPicker&ACRID=1&ASID=https%3A%2F%2Fpcpartpicker.com%2Fproduct%2FTz2WGX%2Fasrock-b650e-pg-riptide-wifi-atx-am5-motherboard-b650e-pg-riptide-wifi&ranMID=44583&ranEAID=2558510&ranSiteID=8BacdVP0GFs-1gaeJ5qXnatoihhxaRVz7w
So I will save like 50 dollars
Okay now I’m putting cable extensions on and idk which ones go on what 2 of them look the same but have 1 different end
its kinda concerning how most people have their partitions messed up and they think their hdd is broken
Yeah its fine
Only bad thing is that its just blue I can’t change it
What's the bundle?
What’s your gpu
4070ti super
I have extensions tho
I have 3 pcie cables and 3 spots on the extensions
Yeah you plug them all in
The extension goes into your gpu and then you plug the 3 in with pie cables
But use separate 8 pin cables
is the AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D worth the price tag?
Am thinking of getting it
just wondering if it is worth it
If you're gaming, yes. It often beats the 14900k.
While costing $200 less and using 1/3 the power.
I've got a few minutes, sure
Part List - AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D, GeForce RTX 4060 Ti, Montech AIR 903 MAX ATX Mid Tower
Dont worry about the 4060 ti
Yep
and whats your thoughts
on a Mini ATX
Its cheaper
but what actually will I loose?
You only lose some PCIe slots and sometimes M.2 slots, occasionally a fan header or something.
so basically
If I just want to stick with 1TB storage, and only want to go up to 64GB of DDR5 ram
I should just stick to an ATX?
There's already 2x M.2 slots on that board if you want to get another drive later, and the memory support is the same between ATX and mATX.
That's one of the best options
It even has 3x M.2 slots
Plus removeable wifi card so you can upgrade that to wifi 7 or something later
and I can still connect it to power and connect it to fans correct
The only thing thats missing is the same features but less on the ATX
Yep
This board in particular has more features than many full size ones
❤️
[Product Features] [DDR5 Unleashes Game-Changing Performance] Experience even faster frequencies, greater capacities, and lower voltages with the latest release in our series, the DDR5 UDIMM module. Take your gaming abilities to new heights with turbo speeds of 6000 MHz. It's available in 328GB (...
Am a bit confused on the difference between these
and which ones I should choose?
Looks like the same kit ..?
yea literally looks the same to me
6000 30-38-38-96 on both
I was just wondering because I would like to use prime
Ok I can finally buy my parts just wanting to make sure everything is good https://pcpartpicker.com/list/Xgc2fy
Part List - AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D, GeForce RTX 4080, Montech AIR 903 BASE ATX Mid Tower
I could spent the extra 40 dollars for this motherboard
But probably will get more storage
Okay could someone help me I’m trying to daisy chain my fans together and also get my aio to turn on but I have absolutely no clue what I’m doing
Ok well I ordered all of my parts
Alright, I've got a new build with the Asrock Z790 Nova, the Cpu temp doesn't display on the LED block, it shows temperature everywhere else including the Bios, any body have any ideas? Bios is updated to the most recent version and everything else works
I9 14900k
G Skill 8000mhz
Stay quiet 1500w PSU
Do you mean the 7 segment displays on the top right side of the board? Those aren't meant to display temperature, they're for debugging the boot sequence.
Which fans, AIO, and motherboard?
Just a Dr.Debug lol thank you @potent portal
I don't blame you for the confusion, especially since some of the extremely high end boards do use it to display temps after the boot sequence is done.
It really should be standard, you learn something everyday. Thanks again. @potent portal
I agree, they're very cheap and simple devices
Tcc12 fans elite ax ice motherboard and frozen prism aio
RGB model fans or no RGB
I finally got the 3 fans on the side to spin and light up now all I need is for my other 2 fans to light up and my aio to light up
Rgb
Ok, so with RGB you want to be careful how many you put in a chain. Most motherboards can't reliably power more than 4.
Sometimes 5
I have 3 in a chain
3 in the aio in a chain and 3 in a chain
The aio ones aren’t lighting up and I have 2 other fans that won’t light up
You've got them lined up like this?
I got lucky the 4080 open box came back in stock
Ok I have 150 dollars for a m.2 what’s the max I can get
Like max tb
Should I wait till the 4tb comes back on sale
That 4tb was a great deal, not sure if we'll see something like that come back anytime soon
Do you already have an SSD of some kind?
I doubt we'll see it that cheap again
Mp44l 2tb atm I think
Yeah I’m pretty sad I didn’t get it because I had to put my money in the bank and the deal was gone by then but no i sold my other pc with drives in it
Alright
ye mp44l
or if you want to go to the peak of the mountain, this
https://pcpartpicker.com/product/mnxRsY/hp-fx900-pro-2-tb-m2-2280-nvme-solid-state-drive-4a3u1aaabb
$10 more but unless you do 4K work it's not gonna do anything
So no difference
pretty much
the what version
I've never known an ssd to jump off walls if that's what you're asking
Which better only 7 dollar difference
Buy me one too
I wish I’m broke now lol spent 1800 dollars today
With 7800x3d ye
But 4090's just aren't worth buying anymore
That 4080 is literally the best deal on high end by a significant margin
That zotac one you got
Yes does open box come with the box and the accessories?
someone posted this in the AMD server 💀
No accessories, not sure about the box
If you need accessories it will be just a gpu support brace and amazon has those for like $5
Is that a Xbox?
I just really want the box first time I bought all of my stuff brand new / open box
I mean
You can contact them if you really want the box
Odds are it's probably coming in said box
But you can always check
I know the feeling, I went back to my pc store after getting my first pc to get the i9 box for it
Boxes most important part
I thought it was a PSU shroud lol
https://newegg.io/d83c95e Is this a good build or nah?
It seems I can never run out of issues
After simply moving three games over, no additional drivers or save files or anything like that, my PC is acting weird again
Whenever my girlfriend plays Valorant, the PC audio gets cut off entirely, then eventually, the keyboard dies too, then the pc shuts off and then needs to be manually booted through the UEFI
Which, I have no clue why it's happening now
It's not just Valorant I think, it never happened before with that game or before I even started swapping drives
I thought it was a driver issue, used DDU, nothing changed
this funny lil thing happened to me
Yeah
How to clear CMOS (works for AMD and Intel)
https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/articles/000025368/processors.html
Defines CMOS technology and how to clear CMOS using the jumper or battery methods.
You usually have to hold those for about 10 seconds
Oh fr
With the PC off ofc
Completely off
Ok so I'd check to make sure everything is seated properly, starting with the memory sticks. You can also try with just one stick of memory.
It booted up fine once and it told me to press f and I did
And this happened
Okay I checked the seating on the ram and the gpu they’re both fine
I won’t even lie to you half my rgb just turned off
The cooler and CPU too, sometimes bad mounting can cause memory issues
Okay
Did you already update the bios?
No
I'd recommend that too then
If it gets stuck on one of those lights for more than a couple minutes then it could indicate an issue
The boot light just means it's looking for windows
Maybe but I'd be worried about the bios first, it's not supposed to appear corrupted like that
Or, squashed maybe?
Either way that should be updated
The latest update fixes some critical security flaws
How do I do it from that screen though
Hit down on your keyboard until enter bios is selected then hit enter
If it lets you into bios and it's not corrupt looking then you should be ok to plug in a flash drive with the update
Off boot? Because I’ve tried that it doesn’t give me an option it just goes straight to that screen
Otherwise you should use flashback
Enter BIOS option just goes back to that screen?
Ok so you'll want to use flashback if you have it to update
What is the exact model of motherboard?
It’s the ASUS b650m ax elite ice
Download and extract that to your flash drive with the windows installer
Rename the B650MAELITEAXICE.F22b file to GIGABYTE.bin
Plug the USB into the bios flash port on the back of the motherboard
It's the red one at the bottom that says "bios" next to it
Okay I’ll do that
Once you've done all that there's the q-flash plus button at the top of the back panel
Could my ram be in the wrongs spots? I have it in 2 and 4
2 and 4 is correct 99% of the time
Okay I’m gonna download that
Acer predator oled shot up $90 today
Lame as hell
More will come
There's this one too https://pcpartpicker.com/product/BBhv6h/aoc-ag276qzd-265-2560-x-1440-240-hz-monitor-ag276qzd

Opinions on buying a refurbished 600w sfx psu from Corsair?
Which model and how old is it?
SF600
The new ones are out of stock. I'm looking on Amazon too but they only have a 850w one
My estimated pc wattage is only 324w 😅
.
Are you building an ITX system that needs a SFX power supply? Because if so that's actually a really good option.
If you're building a standard sized PSU system then that wouldn't fit
I'm using Lian li O11 dynamic mini case
I bought an ATX psu and it didn't fit the case 😭
Yep that's a SFX power supply one
O11 has lots of different varieties and it gets really confusing fast
as long as it's got a warranty it's worth a shot
How do I know its got warranty?
Ooh oki
oh wow 90 days is really short
at least it's long enough to have you covered if it immediately explodes lol
That makes me worried 😂
but idk 90 days gives me pause
seems like they don't have much faith in their own refurbished units if they're only willing to stand behind them for 90 days
Is it bad to buy a psu with 500w more than you need
no
No, the system will only pull what it needs
evga put a 1 year warranty on straight up used stuff as well as refurbs
only if it's at an excessive price
I cringe when I see people buy a $200 1000w psu for their otherwise $700 PC that draws 250w peak for "future proofing"
scalpers Third party sellers usually

Was looking at this one if I dont buy the refurbished
Yeah that's what I see alot of people say.
Thanks for the help guys😃
sorry i touched a cord and all my fans stopped working
i have it plugged in do i need to flash before i lauch or do i lauch bios first
Is the 7900xtx better than the 4080?
yes
objectively speaking for the normal consumer
but when the 4080 is $828
it's way better
Yeah the 7900xtx with tax is like 975 the 4080 with tax was 877
that's not even a contest
4080 is better
but otherwise the XTX would be both cheaper and better than the 4080/S
Did the super version just come out?
How much more?
$1000 msrp
Better than the 4080 msrp I guess
way better
I fell asleep early last night, sorry.
It varies by motherboard. Some of them you press the flash button while it's off (but power supply is on) and others you press the power button and then the flash button. My motherboard turned out to be the latter, which is not mentioned in any guide I saw including the video from MSI.
I know of at least one recent gigabyte board that does need you to power it on first so try that first.
Your good what you told me to do worked I just had to put the motherboard update on a different flash drive
Sometimes it can get picky for no apparent reason about the flash drive
I want a Strix 3080 to replace my dual 3060
And I want a 4070 to replace my Strix 3080
I'd do 4080 just so its an "upgrade"
???
???
???
Yo guys i was looking to upgrade to 32gb of ram. I alr have 16, and it would be like 40$ cheaper to just get another 16 instead of two new 16gb sticks. Would i be better off performance wise getting two new 32gb sticks? Is there a performance difference for 4 sticks vs 2 is what im asking?
There's a fair chance that just adding another 2 sticks will simply not work, because the different memory dies don't get along.
The same model sticks can use several different dies
Especially if it's rated for 3200 c16
Part List - Intel Core i5-12600KF, Radeon RX 5700 XT, Montech AIR 903 MAX ATX Mid Tower
this is my current build
what google says is it depends on the mobo though
Yeah that team group 3200 kit could be any one of 8 different dies
oh ok, so why does that not work? just curious
The memory controller gets confused with the different timings that each stick is calling for and fails to map the memory properly
so even if all 4 were 3200 and cl16
Even if they have the same main xmp timings, if it's a different die then it can have different base speed and timings
oh ok, so i have to buy 2 sticks of 16?
Some sticks will run at a base speed of 2333 c24 while others will have a base of 2933 c30 for example
The best option that will 100% work is to get a kit of 2x 16GB sticks
alr that sucks bc i wanted to upgrade my gpu as well. 5700xt isnt very good anymore
You can sell the old memory to make up some of the cost
Yea i will prolly do that. I still have a psu mobo and case to sell as well
My PC is just a bag of problems
Does anyone know why a strange buzzing noise happens from my PC whenever an animation happens on screen?
It's specifically in sync with any animations
Like highlighting text by drag clicking will make the buzz happen in the intervals that I highlight text
I noticed it when I opened and closed a drop list during a job application and the buzzing happened for exactly the duration of the animation
And now with youtube it's constant
sounds like coil whine
either gpu or psu typically
Can anyone provide me with a good ethernet? Cat 8? 50+ feet? through amazon preferably
@potent portal is cat 5e ethernet worse than wifi 6 wifi?
I found it and my wifi is being funky but the only one we have is 5e
yes
You can do 1Gb over 5e, and the latency will always be better than WiFi
Can someone review this for a friend? https://au.pcpartpicker.com/list/BF3CkJ
Part List - AMD Ryzen 9 5900X, Radeon RX 7800 XT, NZXT H5 Flow ATX Mid Tower
New
Ok
They are building a pc
is this a gaming pc or a work pc
I'm guessing the former

Part List - AMD Ryzen 5 7600, Radeon RX 7900 XT, GameMax Spark MicroATX Mid Tower
not done yet
Part List - Intel Core i5-12600KF, Radeon RX 7900 XT, GameMax Spark MicroATX Mid Tower
one of these two would be better
Thanks @cyan ravine
np
it took me longer than usual as I don't normally do aussie lists lol
there are alternatives as well
I usually would do this myself but being lazy rn
AM5 mobo - MSI gaming wifi b650m

Asus tuf bronze 750w
Yah
lot of good cases rn
Actually
@lyric scarab
the intel list is just plain better
I didn't realise how close in price they are
Ahhh
@cyan ravine okay they said they are doing work and rendering
They also prefer a Ryzen 9
The 12600KF is almost as good in multicore as the ryzen 9
the 5900x
don't buy a 5900x new in 2024
if he wants that he can buy it from me 😂
not worth it brand new
but rendering they'll want nvidia
Can you edit the list if you don't mind?
Felix question
Is this inaccurate, or does 7600 just barely lose in multi core
And basically tied in single core
Part List - Intel Core i5-14600KF, GeForce RTX 4070 Ti, GameMax Spark MicroATX Mid Tower
can't physically do better
wait I can
Part List - Intel Core i5-14600KF, GeForce RTX 4070 Ti, Jonsbo D41 Mesh ATX Mid Tower
better case
Could also do a 7700
https://au.pcpartpicker.com/list/fjMppB
Or a 13600k/14600k. All three of these outmatch the 5900x by far all around.
https://au.pcpartpicker.com/list/J4TWCd
Part List - AMD Ryzen 7 7700, Radeon RX 7900 XT, GameMax Spark MicroATX Mid Tower
Part List - Intel Core i5-14600KF, Radeon RX 7900 XT, GameMax Spark MicroATX Mid Tower
better multicore than the 5900x
Ahh
but the problem with the the 14th gen
he needs to ask the store to update the motherboard bios
which
and I will QUOTE THIS
is a $20 job
Buy a pentium, flash bios, return it
Oh rip
A bios flash would be decent via the store cuz I doubt he knows to do it on his own
no bios flash on the cheap boards, you need to install a cpu
Oh oh
14th gen has this issue that it won't really work
lol
there's the ds3h at this tier
but for 14th gen K?
no
better to just get him to update the current board
then he has a psuedo z790
all good
can't wait for zluda to be mainstream so I can stop suggesting 4070 Ti
lol
no it's kinda true
sorry just saw that
nobody needs cat8
also do you mind terminating the cables yourself, it would be alot cheaper if you're doing alot of runs
or if you're in canada or america, you could either buy from infinitecables or like cablesupply
the issue lies in that most workstation tasks favour intel, but yes, the AM5 counterpart is comparable
in this case with the 7600 definitely so
since it's rendering and production work
can do over 1gig over cat5e tbf
you can easily do 2.5gig in most circumstances, and even technically 10g in very little circumstances
though not many people are going to be doing 10 gigabit LANs
overkill for 99.9% of home users
If it's a short run yeah it can do more. The spec is for the max distance run.
true
but idk what home use would have max distance runs of any networking cable lol
maybe from the house to a shed
actually that was a use my friend had; though he didnt want to trench to bury a cable from his house to his shed (he lives on a farm) so i believe he uses wireless uhhh
forgot what that tech was, but it's similar to what linus did between the buildings
not nearly as expensive though lol
Intel #1 smh
for reference, unless you need to be carrying over 40gigabit signals, there is no reason for you to use category 8 cables lol
I did something similar to that years ago but just standard wireless routers because the tech wasn't widespread enough for consumer use. It was my college buddy's dad's house in the middle of nowhere. He had a satellite Internet connection but it terminated in the barn, and he also had concrete walls. Most of the network was PoE wired between APs but the convention to the barn was wireless.
i think my friend did that same ish thing
did you use omnidirectional antennas, or did you use some sort of directional antenna
would probably would be pretty inefficent with omnidirectional, especially with the FSPL
and also because his house is out in the middle of bum-f nowhere, he uses a celluar modem as his internet access lmao
which basically consists of a m.2 (usb 3.0) celluar modem module, a very long usb cable, and a bananapi router
i could only imagine how much wattage would be required to send RF over long distances with an omnidirectional antenna for that much distance lmao
im too lazy to calculate it at least lmao
though i should probably practice since im also studying for CWNA
should I try getting the 7900 GRE?
well..
you think about it/
If I return my card, I earn 76$..
if they don't refund the cashback
which in a morally correct situation, wouldn't happen
they certainly didn't do anything when i got my card RMA'd
so I doubt they'd do that
plus I could wait till next tuesday for a possible triple cashback tuesday.. 😏
I don't have issues with VRAM rn
yea you shouldn't
I only have vram issues when I try launching roblox studio though 😔
I think the GRE is better over the 7800xt only when you engage in overclocking
and that's the big issue
OC is still here nor there on AMD
but the GRE should show tremendous scaling with OC
I'd honestly just stick with the 7800xt
sounds like way too much effort for arguably the same value +-5%
I predict microsoft giving you a part 2 of problems if you return it 😂
I just simply
on that point alone
I would leave it
It's not significantly better than what you have
Sky
making money on
are you a masochist
:(

Just screw microsoft tbh
no I wanna mess over microsoft
It really is
but what if I just kept doing triple cashback tuesday
got cashback, returned the card
if you get caught they'll charge it all back
if you want to flip cards that's not the way to do it
lol
Plus idk why but my location says im in Iowa
Doesnt matter how many cookies you steal from the cookie jar if your mom cant count
Just take advantage of it

Is this the point where I have to remind people that fraud is illegal and we cannot condone that conduct
even if I use my 5G
When newegg tries to explain white collar crime:
Fair point
Fraud is, in most cases, probably illegal
Well you gotta remember that this is all plotting, were not openly admitting to fraud (not yet atleast 🤫)
man that is a textbook businessman response
only most cases
lmfao
Well that was a good laugh, I'll bbl

Lexar NM710 or Solidigm™ P41 Plus? There is ~$40 difference betwene their prices 2TB.
which one is $40 more
well, i'm assuming its the lexar one
the lexar has higher R/W by quite a fair bit
is it worth a $40 difference though... i'm not sure
p41 plus is more expensive
oh then get the lexar
alr ty
it's higher end than the p41 plus

Dawg na don’t do this I need real time tutoring
I’ll even pay you
Just videos stress me out cause like I can’t ask questions just in case I’m doing it wrong
You might want to ask a techie.
Someone like Felix, Hay, Bacca, or maybe even falcie?
I don't do handholding for pc builds
That second vid is like a whole encyclopaedia, it will literally answer almost every single question you could possibly have
If learning how to do this is too scary, get a friend who knows how to do it for a 50
It's quite literally lego for adults. It's made to be easily put together
Like a camping tent, or a desk that is definitely not from IKEA
i handhold
Trial and error is the best teacher 😎
I started off upgrading prebuilt dells and hps etc when I was younger. Eventually did my own build from scratch.
If it makes you feel better, it's fairly hard to do something "wrong". It's not like building a circuit from scratch, you kinda just put all the pieces into their respective places.
Hi idk where to ask this so im just going to put it here. I currently have a AMD Ryzen 3 2300X CPU with a AMD Radeon RX 6600 GPU and after doing little research I apparently have a 40% bottleneck. I am getting fairly poor performance on games like helldivers 2 and was wondering if i should upgrade my CPU to increase FPS and graphics quality. I dont know how much the bottleneck is actually affecting all this so i really want to hear anybodys opinions/recommendations on what I should do. thank you
i'd recommend going to something like a ryzen 7 5700x3d or something like that
though if your mobo or psu can't handle it, you might want something with a bit less power perhaps
also make sure your mobo supports 5000 series; it should, at least if it's a custom built system
Yes you should upgrade your cpu, but don't trust bottleneck calculators
Theyre ass
oem pcs might not have the bios support
And very inaccurate
But yes upgrading your cpu would allow higher fps
Higher graphics, no
also yeah bottleneck calculators are only good for like, the specific app, and you might as well try to run the app to see how much you bottleneck
A better gpu would mean better graphics
what do you think about a Ryzen 5 3600
^
unless you get it for free, i honestly would rather you buy a lower end 5000 series than a better 3000 series because 5000 series has much better single core than 3000 series
more important for you since you're gaming
I saw some noticeable gains from 3600->5600x
What country are you in?
And what motherboard do you have?
north america
ill just send a ss of my specs for you
north america isnt a country LMFAO
^
You can dm me it
What do I connect after I did the motherboard
Motherboards already connected to the case
cpu into the socket, nvme SSD into its slot (if you have one) ,ram sticks into their slots, cpu cooler, gpu into pcie slot
then you'll need to plug in a couple PSU power connectors to the motherboard, and one into the gpu
kinda busy, sorry. I'd recommend a youtube video, the one by Linus Tech tips is pretty good
Next I would plug in the 8 pin CPU power on the top left (the extra 4 pins are optional)
Then the CPU cooler and 24 pin cable
At least the cables, if not the whole psu
sometimes it's hard to reach up there past a cpu cooler I suppose
Just follow a YouTube tutorial
Robeytech has a good one

tbh most build tutorials are pretty good (except the Verge's)
U mind if I send u pictures and u like tell me what to do next
I’ll pay you 20 like I legit need help I’m lost
And like the tutorials ain’t helping me idk
🗿
why you building a pc if even a video doesnt help 😭
you could have easily paid someone $100 to build the pc for you considering the parts that you bought
also you didnt push in the left ram stick all the way in
DM'd
I have a request for a friend.
whats up?
As portable as possible.
(But as powerful as his ps5)
budget?
That's gonna be like
3700/5600 ryzen
6700 radeon
16gb memory
512gb ssd (gen 4 for ryzen 5k)
Itx board (a520i)
Smallest case you can find and an apevia prestige
depends on budget
I mean as portable as possible
Try like $600.
A750 time
5600+B450+A750+used everything else too should come in around $500-600
Or the crazy route https://www.newegg.com/p/2SW-002G-000G5
GPU isn't as strong as the PS5 but upscaled you'll hardly notice
Part List - AMD Ryzen 5 3600, Thermaltake Core V1 Mini ITX Desktop
whatever used gpu fits
the mobo price is a guesstimate
Part List - AMD Ryzen 5 5600, Arc A750, Fractal Design Pop Air ATX Mid Tower
Amazing what you can do these days with a low budget
For real
214xt isnt needed, but ye
figured itx would be preffered
also idk why but i saw 500 not 600
good list
If portability is key ITX is the way to go
I forgot that it comes with a default fan
id say that core v1 or ridge 4.0
WAIF
for case
there's some minor things id change but overall it's great
