you weren't around the electronic market during covid were you
finding next gen consoles like series x and ps5 was impossible
Or gpus, or ryzen 5000 series
I wasn’t focused on buying a gaming pc back in 2020
Or ddr5
same luckily, just an xbox
That’s when the coronavirus started
Yes
i heard that gpu prices were nuts
And silicon shortage
$1300 3060 ti, $1500 3070, $3000 3090
Now you see why 40 series pricing and segmentation is the way it is
3080 10gb was $700 and performed I think 10% worse than a 3090 at $1500
Now we have 4080 at $1200 and 4090 at $1600, while 4080 was 35% worse
4080 super even if it's only 20% worse, at $1000 it's still much worse than last gen.
all i know is that the 6950 came in at like 1250 msrp and I got mine for 650 so
I really hope next gen gpus aren't as bad value as this gen was
Amd is supposedly abandoning the high end, there's rumors of XTX performance at $600
so ive heard
it might be closer to 7900 XT performance with much better efficency
not xtx
I'll probably go for a next gen card, but this one is just so disappointing
And it was hyped up so much too
whats your rig rn
13600k 3060 ti
I was planning to do a second pc but that's prolly not going to be needed anymore
10 series: good
20 series: meh
30 series: good (other than the gpu shortage)
40 series: meh
50 series: good(?)
Is 50 series even a thing yet?
expected by end of this year or early next year
likely next year
rdna 4 should be late this year
I fear I’m gonna be banned from this server if I buy a gpu I was told not to and now after what I found out there may be no choice because I really just want to have a graphics card that’ll give me great vr experience. Like I’ve been trying hard to listen but with what this guy said what are the odds? It’s like a 1% chance.
You won't get banned for not listening to advice
It’s not that I’m trying to be stubborn or an ass. It’s that I might have no other option
First off you will never get banned for spending your own money. That's not how that works
Second it is certainly more than a 1% chance, just try and see what happens.
If you dont get one then there are other options. It's not the end of the world.
Even I'm guilty of not taking the advice on this server sometimes
When I was asking about drives I didn't get the one falcie recommended and I got the one I originally was looking at
@potent portal funny story if you remember when I was looking at buying the s70 blade. I ended up getting it and it slowly started dying, started with game crashes and stuff, and eventually ended up deleting ALL MY FILES and then only showing up as a 2gb drive
Turns out I'm not alone and quite a few others have had the same failure
Moral of he story I should've taken your advice haha but not for the reason you probably thought of at first
Moral of the story, they know what they're talking about about
Felix has given me fantastically cheap builds already as it is because I was likely gonna spend $4500 at least on a pc not knowing anything about the parts I was buying
And he got me down to $2000 knowing well and having a solid powerful gpu
Like I was so shocked
I’ve been holding onto the links to the builds he gave me for a while
Can almost fit an xtx in $1500
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/6LQsPF
Part List - AMD Ryzen 5 7600, Radeon RX 7900 XTX, MagniumGear NEO AIR (2023) ATX Mid Tower
Just need a cooler
7600 comes with one
The stock cooler is fine for those
I feel lucky I even got help building a pc by these people. If I didn’t get any advice at all I could’ve made a totally bad decision and wouldn’t realize it until I later on found out
And then I’d have regretted it a bunch
probably not midnight, probably around 9am eastern since that's the time that the 3070 released
i remember being in online class in the morning, then going to try to buy the card
Remember this isn’t me being stubborn or disrespectful towards experienced pc builders. It’s just the 4080 super most likely will sell out less than an hour after it launches
But will it hurt trying to get one?
What's the use in worrying about what may or may not happen. You can't control it, just try it, and if you don't get one, then you have other options. Why make a decision based off of a chance.
Good point actually
Oh
so youre saying a 360mm aio for it is.. overkill
Nah 360mm bare minimum for a 7600
That's just to keep it at 95c. 420mm if you want it below 90
Honestly everyone should just have a custom loop
Nah what
What happened to the 540mm 3 in 1 coolers?
Any 4080 super builds out there on newegg yet?
No
Did I mention 48 gb of ram and miss an answer about that?
You know you want it
https://singularitycomputers.com/portfolio/quad-560mm-water-box/
48GB is overkill for most gamers but it would be good for "future proofing" if you get a 2x24GB kit
So any problem with 64 gb of ram and filling all 4 ram sticks? Maybe I can just add 2 more of the exact same ramsticks to the build Felix gave me
Many said 32 was all I need for pcvr?
4 ran sticks isn't great
It can potentially hurt perf, id do 48gb
No potentially, it's pretty common for DDR5 to be limited to 4400-4800 with 4 sticks
Those ramsticks will work on this build right? https://pcpartpicker.com/list/TyPsPF Felix gave me the link and I’ve been hanging onto it
Part List - AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D, GeForce RTX 4080, Phanteks Eclipse P400A Digital ATX Mid Tower
If you really want that 4 stick look you can get Corsair dominators and the dummy stick kit but that costs almost as much as actually buying the sticks
Yes the 2x48 kit will work on that
What is this

Ye I'd do the 48gb kit with that list, and honestly if you want to order everything but the gpu now those are some pretty nice sales on the case and mobo
And cpu has an igpu, so you can run the pc before you have the gpu if it arrives later
Yes. Ddr5 in general gets insufferably hard to run.
Stick to 32.
I was about to go 48 but alright maybe 32 is safer
You could, but for pure VR it would grant basically nothing
2x24 is fine, its 4 sticks that's insufferable hard to run
It actually tunes better I think
Well then good thing I only need 2 ram sticks
Specifically 4 sticks is the issue
(Don't quote me on that, felix would know)
No u right
Ah ok
Picked a good set too
Is there non hynix 24gb sticks?
Yeah I think im doing 48gb 2 24 pack
Yeah 16gb is still fine most of the time for gaming
My problem with suggesting 48 in the past is $/16gb for 48gb sets
32gb is nice to have for the headroom and not having to worry about what other tasks you have running
So this build look stable and functional? https://pcpartpicker.com/list/MX9HbL
Part List - AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D, GeForce RTX 4080, Phanteks Eclipse P400A Digital ATX Mid Tower
That’s x the same build Felix sent except I changed the ram
Looks good to me
im hoping if none of this has been bought yet the 4080 is a placeholder for 4080s?
Why are you hoping I haven’t bought it? Felix built all this for me except the ram
Wait unless you’re saying something else
Yep, looks good, if you want rgb on the cooler the 214xt comes in black and white and is the same price and just as good
the parts are fine
im just saying if nothing has been bought
when its time to buy stuff
Think that’s just colored lights
see about getting a 4080 super
Like this

Part List - AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D, GeForce RTX 4080 SUPER, Phanteks Eclipse P400A Digital ATX Mid Tower
thanks
I really want to finally build a pc but to be honest, I know nothing about pc building, and have no clue where to start. Do you guys have any part suggestions and/or ways I can find my own parts in the future?

We’ve done plenty of build guides before – But now we’re taking it to the next level. Not only will you know how to build a PC, you’ll know how to build ANY PC – This is the LAST guide you’ll ever need!
Discuss on the forum: https://linust...
for suggestions, there's a mountain of information to learn
better to hear it from the horse's mouth imo
We can help you pick them out for your budget
Oh really? You’d do that?
that's what I do most of the time here
It’s not too much trouble?
haha I love it
yeah mate no trouble at all
thing is
what takes me 5 minutes could take you days
so I don't mind it
budget
use case for the pc
(gaming, working, editing? etc)
aesthetic preferences (may be optional for the sake of a better sale)
budget before tax btw
Im looking to spend around 1400, but I can bend to 1600 if need be
Gaming
Not super important but I like the look of rgb and white (don’t know if that’s what you meant)
perfect
USD?
I'm playing around with a couple options will lyk
Yeah
Thank you! I’m currently watching the video you sent as well
can you use tiktok?
weird question but it's related to the pc
I could but I don’t have it downloaded, if it’s a link it should show the video anyway
alr
I'll leave the sale as an extra to think about
ok
two options
Part List - AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D, GeForce RTX 4070 SUPER, GameMax M60 MicroATX Mid Tower
Part List - AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D, Radeon RX 7800 XT, GameMax M60 MicroATX Mid Tower
if you can stretch it's worth it
but both are decent
if you can use tiktok newegg shop
instead of the mp44L ssd I put in
Ima have another check, I might find something slightly better
yep I did
Part List - Intel Core i5-14600KF, GeForce RTX 4070 SUPER, GameMax M60 MicroATX Mid Tower
best of the three imo
Wow, looks great, I’m thoroughly impressed
Thank you so much
wait, I forgot something
let me amend the lists
there we go
forgot fans
yeah pretty much if you can get the ssd off newegg tiktok shop that would be awesome, it's very good for $90
but the mp44L is fine if you can't
this one
what does dpc watchdog violation mean
motherboard caught something using the watchdog firmware and halted windows
soo how to fix?
event viewer might say something about it
go here
and look for the error by scrolling for critical or error events
tho its not my pc my friend
and also if I checked for my pc which is working theres also error should be fine
if thats so how do I know which one is really acting up?
if you haven't had issues, then likely
you find the dpc watchdog violation in there
if it says "pc has rebooted from a bugcheck"
that would be the bad boi
oh cool
DDU (Display Driver Uninstaller) Guide by Pato
https://github.com/NeweggTechie/Graphics-cards/wiki/How-to-use-DDU
first two things I'd try
TM5 you'd follow the instructions in the link to load the Anta777 config (the program will say it's running Anta777)
yeah I was going to tell him to do ddu
Okay, now I’m questioning my ram choice
What ram do you guys recommend that is 48GB
Also Felix he’s going with the second one you posted
@cyan ravine
you want 64gb or 32gb..?
24GB sticks can hit DDR5-11000 though
And since there's only one die you're guaranteed to get a good one
Buy one kit now and overclock it when you buy a new CPU that supports faster speeds later
24gb just has limited selections, otherwise its basically the same thing
But why buy 2 kits when you can buy one that'll be the only kit of DDR5 you ever have to buy
Part List - Intel Core i7-14700KF, Radeon RX 7900 XT, Asus Prime AP201 MicroATX Mini Tower
And it doesn't have to be ddr5-11000, maybe you'll run it at 7000c32 or something now, and only run higher later
hello i'm looking to build a new pc and was just wondering if the build below is fine or if i should make any adjustments. Open to most things just wanna keep at least a geforce card
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/6crgKX
64GB may be useful to you, but for 99% of people that would be overkill on capacity and it sacrifices speed for capacity.
I'm gonna change this entire list

Felix is good at this just roll with it lol
lol its alright oh and my budget is around 2k as well
@grave island boop

gaming ye?
if not I can make it better for less
e.g
Part List - Intel Core i5-14600KF, GeForce RTX 4080 SUPER, GameMax M60 MicroATX Mid Tower
please don't recommend vengeance, locked pmic issues, compatibility issues, not to mention most mobos train best with hynix
corsair hasn't and will continue not to be good choices for ram
oo that looks good but i cant see the buy option for the gpu would i have to find it on my own?
At least Corsair hasn't had issues with it simply not working at XMP like on DDR4
maybe for a full workstation, but even then t-creates are just way better for similar
the gpu releases in a few days is why
I have no budget to limit my build lmao
So I’d prefer not to get anything Corsair to waste money
Tomorrow even
Corsair cases look and perform nice too
I don't recommend any except that one ripjaws kit, and again, for the last time, he won't need it nor if ever use that much before he would upgrade again
ohh ok ok thank you so much for the help
RMe has been great value for A tier units too
I will admit
wait i just took a hard good look at my current setup and a white pc might stand out too much
I can do black
do you need wifi?
If noise is a concern the RMx has a maglev bearing, near silent
yes please the wifi would be nice
yeah but how much was that l12s
50's a lot for LP
lol
would rather used amd boxer
what in the world case are you fitting lol
terra?
I didn't say stealth I said boxer
also wtf 3900x
I wouldn't
you do you tho lol
well I said boxer before we established terra so

3900x in sff is so weird to me
unless you power limit it to hell
free?
that's a good buy
i have a question what does the compatibility warning mean?
@grave island last one
Part List - Intel Core i9-13900KF, GeForce RTX 4080 SUPER, Phanteks Eclipse P400A Digital ATX Mid Tower
you need to update bios when you get it
but it has a switch so
it's easy
that's quite good
tho 3900x on lp is still whack
how would i go about that? and thank you so much for the help

In this demonstration, we’ll show you how to use Flash BIOS Button with MSI motherboard.
yea that's what I mean
I'd swap the 3900x out for x3d there imo
before it devalues to nothing
you probably have a better read on that tho with hws
5600 would be alright too
just like, you're kinda only using one or one and a half ccd's there
Aren't there thermalright 360s around the same price?
Idt the 240 is enough for the 13900kf
Nono, I meant for myself
Like my own ram choice
ohh ok ok
and i have a question why do i need to bios update i was just wondering

Part List - Intel Core i5-14600KF, GeForce RTX 4080 SUPER, Phanteks Eclipse P400A Digital ATX Mid Tower
nice
If you want to avoid it you can get a decent z790 for $30 more, but its fairly easy
Just need a USB drive and a laptop/pc to download something to it
z790 you still need to update for 14th gen
ohhh ok ok got it
it's z790 refresh you don't
With mobo change https://pcpartpicker.com/list/ssHgKX
Part List - Intel Core i9-13900KF, GeForce RTX 4080 SUPER, Phanteks Eclipse P400A Digital ATX Mid Tower
its alright i was just curious
watch this for your bios update
not sure
The 14th gen CPUs are new so an older model motherboard like a Z690 wouldn't know how to read the codes on it and it will fail to run. A bios update will provide the motherboard with the instructions it needs to read the codes.
You do also gain better ram tuning capability with a z790, if you think you'll ever do that
Otherwise honestly I'd just get the b760m pg sonic wifi
$130 with great features and good vrms
ohhh ok i get it now
time for physics hw thank you for yalls help
np
Sometimes
ohh sorry one last question are the sata ports basically where a hard drive would go?
Yes
You usually won't be using those on a new build at this point
Unless you have an old hard drive to carry forward
got it once again thank yall will probably be back here when its time to build tho lol
@potent portal my ram is good, right?
Part List - AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D, GeForce RTX 4090, Phanteks Eclipse P500A D-RGB ATX Mid Tower
I’ve questioned my choices since that ram discussion
Yeah it's good
Okay good
So...I SHOULD have 6TB of storage total...I have 2TB
Really need to look at a better keyboard and headset for that
Nova's are terrible except for that one $500 sku (pro?)
Just get pc38x/pc37x
And the keyboard would be quite mid for such a high end pc
What's disk manager say about that?
The drives aren't populating
There are a lot of other things I'd change tbh
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/Kp3pWt
Part List - AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D, GeForce RTX 4080 SUPER, Corsair 2000D AIRFLOW Mini ITX Tower
An example
Not populating as in they're not showing in disk manager at all?
as in they aren't registering for american citizenship
I’ll swap the headset out
But I don’t use a keyboard much. I play a lot of my games with a controller
Still I would make the investment for $30 more in a good keyboard
you had a 4090 there
which I wouldn't get either but like, basic tier keyboard with high end pc? I'd step it up
and I don't often say that
Which one of these air coolers above is efficient for cooling because I’m getting a dual air cooler obviously?
The evo is the same thing as the phantom spirit just with better fans
Value wise, phantom spirit non evo. If you want it to be quieter, look cooler, and be a little bit better, evo
Fractal Torrent Nano just doubled in price on the amazons 💀
Not sure if efficiency is really a measure for a cooler
The amount of power the fans draw is negligible compared to the power a cpu is drawing (& outputting as heat)
I guess noise efficiency perhaps
Indeed both irrelevant
effectiveness ig
you dont want an overkill cooler but you also dont want a cooler that isnt capable enough to cool the chip
Oh irrelevant wasn't what I meant to say. Overkill sure can be ok if it just means a PA120 on a cpu that's fine w/ a single tower. Able to run passively if desired is a nice quirk. Concur on the last part, but I didn't run stock pushpin cooler even on an E8400 dual core.
Originally they wanted a 360mm AIO but we talked them down to a dual tower on a 7800X3D
It took hard evidence showing margin of error differences in performance to do so
Any Newegg Prebuilds worth looking at for 4080 Super?
There's none in stock on newegg right now anyway
And there's no world in which I would recommend a $3300 4080 Super Corsair PC when you can build a much, much better 4090 system for less than that.
@stable cove yo I'd grab this
https://www.zotacstore.com/us/zt-d40810d-10p-o
If you didn't grab a 4080 super yet, seems they're all oos
Open box 4080 would be a good deal at that price. You can overclock it to beat the super anyway.
What 2TB sata 2.5" SSD do y'all recommend?
Mx500, 870 evo/qvo, silicon power a55, vulcan z in that order
Right now a55 best priced it seems
https://pcpartpicker.com/product/DZkj4D/silicon-power-a55-2-tb-25-solid-state-drive-sp002tbss3a55s25
Do you only have a sata slot available?
There'd 2tb nvmes a bit cheaper
Xbox One s
Ah alr
What’s bad about overkill because too dang hot is what you don’t want
Hot just not you know
i meant overkill as in way overkill
too overkill and you're spending more on cooling than you are using by a whole bunch
sure, you probably want some thermal headroom, but i wouldnt consider that overkill
you really just need to keep your cpu under tj max; before thermal throttling
thought id take a screenshot showing the workload
lol
4k gaming, recording, editing, and having a bunch of other stuff open
lol
all at the same time
I got you over in gen chat
Unless it's smthn else
I just need a board be sure my board is damaged in the weirdest spot
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/Mjb3jH
Trying to make a good build that would last me some upgrades in the future, I'm not too sure about the mobo what do you guys think?
I'd say the idea is there but I would make some changes. Is it just being used for gaming?
And do you have a gpu already?
Overall this is better. It's 48gb instead of 64gb, but the actual performance of the ram is a LOT better.
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/9DvrPF
Part List - AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D, Corsair 4000D Airflow ATX Mid Tower
64gb actually hurts performance over 48gb/32gb
I game but usually do some work coding, editing, and some heavy work as well
Do the tasks you do require 64gb ram?
Nope, 32gb would be sufficient but I just wanted to avoid upgrading my ram in the future as well.
Sometimes I hit over 24gb while working, I need to open several things at once.
Lemme see your build in my country prices, hold on.
Ahh not in the us. What country?
Saudi Arabia
Why did you change the m.2?
the P41 is a bit faster, might be slightly higher quality in other regards as well
good value
though the NV2 is TLC while the P41 is QLC- does that not matter as much for nvme drives?
Didn't find the exact ram, but found same with 32 gb $133
I honestly have no idea about these kind of things, I will go with what you guys provided, I still have 2 more slots if I need more capacity.
I'd trust Bacca over me on the SSD choice
QLC or not, P41 plus easily beats NV2, yep. Part of it's perks are good "rnd" speeds as in dealing with many smaller files while sequential is mostly referring to bigger files.
is the cooler enough for 7800x3d?
more than enough probably, 7800x3d is actually pretty easy to cool
will it handle oc?
I would think so
AM5 headroom is somewhat small, should be good either way.
yeah was gonna say not sure how much OC you can get outta that chip
Just asking for insight I usually leave stuff at stock.
If I were to add a gpu, what would you recommend?
I don't need the gpu mainly for gaming so AMD is not an option for me since nVidia performs better on Ais and rendering stuff.
but don't know with what should I go, 4070/super or 4060/ti
4060/ti are both pretty mediocre
Thanks everyone.
You can't overclock the X3D chips anyway. It's locked out.
Look for the cheapest kit you can find that's 5600mhz+ cl32 or lower
Cpu, 14600k, 14700k, 13600k, 13700k, 7600, 7700, 7800x3d are all what you should look for
G.SKILL Ripjaws S5 Series (Intel XMP 3.0) DDR5 RAM 32GB (2x16GB) 6000MT/s CL30-40-40-96 is what I got now.
Anything cheaper with what I said above?
Basically the die is the same in any kits 5600mhz+ cl32 or lower, so it can do the same 6000c30
Any cooler you find would be enough
I'd grab the cheapest tower cooler you can find
The 7800x3d is incredibly easy to cool
Also, what gpu are you using? Unless 4080/7900xtx/4090, I would just go with a 7600 and use the stock cooler
Unless 7600x is cheaper. If it is, same thing, cheapest tower cooler you can find
CTCED532G6400HC32ADC01 is the cheapest I could find
6400c32, perfect
Would be fine
I'm planning on getting 4070s, will there be a problem if my cpu is way better than the gpu?
What are the ssd options for you? (2tb)
Wow those are the cheapest??? That kit is stacked af
No, just spending more money on it and likely won't see much of a benefit
prices for me kinda dumb
Unless you play 1080p, which a 4070 super is incredibly overkill for anyways
I work a whole lot more than I play so I didn't consider these tbh.
Just wanted to grab something that could last some time
That's the reason I was going with 7700 at first
Currently I have i7 9700, but other pieces are trash prebuilt pc.
It does handle my stuff pretty well ngl but the problem is the RAM got a bad one
You mentioned AI work right? You probably want whichever Nvidia card has the most VRAM in your budget, I know the minimum for many training sets is 12GB.
Even if that means getting a used 3090, that would speed up your generation a LOT
Thank you guys once again. 🌹
Demonstrating the effects here of switching (I realise ur not US-based)

Part List - Intel Core i5-12600KF, GeForce RTX 4070 Ti SUPER, GameMax M60 MicroATX Mid Tower
For a.i I would 1000% consider a used 3090
Or a 4080 Super/4090
Used 4080
Anything 16gb vram or higher
And with a large bit bus
Yes. 12GB may be the minimum but the more the better.
From what I know, 12gb isn't enough for some
Some of the larger LLM models need more yes
On the ones where 12GB is enough the difference between that and 24GB is huge. Like 1/4 the processing time.
It's also the bit bus
All 40 series suffers pretty hardcore in a.i time because of it
The cards weren't intended for a.i so they shipped them with what one could argue, minimal buses for games
But meager for a.i for sure
They want you buying quadro and rtx ada
I'd consider a 13600k/14600k if it's cheaper, also depends on motherboard prices
I would look into if your workloads are multi thread based. If they are, a 13th or 14th gen 700k/600k would be a better choice
If they're not, I would go for 7600 or 7800x3d
7700 is an odd middle ground, it's not noticeably better than 7600 for gaming
Bad
It's a 3% difference
4080 open box alr down to $930, that'll be the way to go.
Or 7900xtx is still better value
damn
Tbf it's still a 200$ price cut
So like
It's better
To use GN's opinion, it's a good improvement, but it's improving from disgustingly bad, to moderately ridiculous
I wonder how long it'll be until Nvidia never deal SKU price cuts, but instead release a "new" "X Super Ti X Ultra X Xextreme" for a price cut. Cuz that is why 4080S happened, Nvidia wanted a price cut but with some hype to it. Only a matter of time until literally every price cut Nvidia does is like this.
Inb4 a new SKU for every single sale that happens
i have a friend that wants a pc for 2k after tax (Texas, USA), for VR games/unity/blender (they create vrchat worlds)
they need MORE than 8gb vram, and a monitor in that price would be nice
good cpu and good gpu are fairly important
@grim urchin dual monitor arm (gas suspension ususally is the best)
make sure both monitors have VESA mounts though
how? lol
they will have screws/screw holes in a square on the back of the monitor
ususally basically right in the middle
alr let me check
btw if you see the monitor stand going into the monitor around that area, you might have to take off the stand to see the screw holes
not all monitors have the holes though unfortunately
also yeah that's a vesa mount holes yeah
could u maybe recommend me one?
would you rather have a more expensive but also more adjustable gas shock dual monitor mount, or would you rather have a considerably cheaper but not very adjustable monitor stand?
well how expensive do they get?
could i get a good one thats around 200 CAD?
yeah probably
cheap type is like $20-40, expensive type is like 80-200 usd or so
80 usually is single monitor though
Felix
ah ic ic
yeah could you please recommend one for like around 150 usd?
dp
or rather
the higher bandwidth choice
would you rather have one cheaper or do you want to aim for that mark lmao
what do u say
tbh i'll just send you the more expensive one since that one is more "future proof" since it can support more weight ig
alr
https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B08CXJPQG9 15% off atm even
also im also in canada so it was still easy for me to search for ones in cad lmao
Wdym
also i found out that all the monitor arms at my college are herman miller ones
I don’t know anything about display options
your display might have dp1.4 but hdmi 2.1 for example
hdmi 2.1 is faster
says 5 off for me
How do I check
how about one for around 100? lol
OH
Oh my I don’t even have the monitor yet
oh then nvm i can get my friend to order it for me haha hes got prime
lol
you can only get 100hz for that money
https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B0855ZBPXD here's the 100 anyways
less pretty
diff person
ok
wait
oh
i see what you saw lol
lmao i was too busy looking at the amazon
https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B07CWQ5S1Q this also works but max is 27", so you're slightly more limited in monitor movement range
HUANUO Dual Gas Spring Monitor Desk Mount Provides an Ergonomic Solution for a more Comfortable & Productive Work Environment! no 27 is good as thats what they both are
well, just in case if you decide you want to upgrade to a larger monitor in the future
also at least personally, i prefer more adjustment
these look like they get really close to my face no?
well, they can
but that's the beauty of adjustable monitor arms
you can move them closer or further away from your face
last question, whats the difference between those two? other than that one is only 27 and the weight limit
please no more options ive looked through like 20 different monitors they all look the same to me
this is the best one
pick it
Where's the hard drive?
I assume that's a xbox series s, in which case the SSD is on the back of the motherboard
So...on the other side?
looks like this
But the board is flush with the case....oh...it's one of THEM drives....shoot
Guess this ain't gonna work
yea...
Those drives be expensive
And I have zero way to format
I use hard drive as a general terminology
I looked up how to replace it and they all showed a 2.5" sata
seeing as I've taken one apart I can definitely confirm no sata
Darn
there's an m.2 slot, and a ssd slot for their proprietary out the back
How would I go about swapping the m.2?
the same as a pc
you'd want a 2230 one by the looks of it (I didn't remember it being that short)
low power 2230 like a p41 plus
going with a fast gen 4 would lead to throttling probably
How much would a 2TB run?
a lot
Ballpark?
On tiktok shop I think the 2230 version is 55 for a 1tb, 2tb maybe around 105? Not certain
not a clue I never google it
105 for a 2TB ain't bad
Otherwise honestly
https://pcpartpicker.com/product/PHGhP6/teamgroup-mp44s-2-tb-m2-2230-pcie-40-x4-nvme-solid-state-drive-tm5ff3002t0c101
I'm not certain tho, one sec I'll check
That's....not BAAAD
Well, 1TB is better than 512GB
Same price elsewhere
If it takes full size nvmes, p41 plus 2tb 2280 is $90 on tiktok
Or $102 on newegg
what matters is you get a low power one
since it appears to be on the other side of the motherboard
which has like
zero airflow
But I want 2tb
mp44S might be ok
qlc
yuck
actually
Ey
If it fits it sits
Why?
(fyi p41 plus is also qlc)
ye, it still performs well
this doesn't have 2.1
blehhhh
use dp
as long as they have good firmware to deal with pslc stuff, qlc does fine even as you fill up the drive
oh well then it's probably fine
I split Xbox game pass with 2 other people
Mp44s is 3.1w max tdp
I have TWO external drives rn
It's def fine
I'll take what I can get that's 2 tb
Lemme check ud90 tdp rq
It's not like I'm running a Ryzen 9 7950XT and a 4090
That is the same for TLC as well, QLC/TLC will have SLC read cache
It's a 2022 Xbox series s
it just has to do with how well the controller deals with moving data around so you have more cells that can be used as pslc
need to learn more on ssd's
I haven't done nearly enough reading
I'm like, adept at best
I mean same tbh
I cant find ud90 tdp
I use silicon power a60 in my desktop....
ive never used dp do I need a specific cable
Mp44s at 3.1w will definitely be fine, if you want to go for that 2tb
👍
Also realistically speaking, there is more then enough room for 2280 with some janky mounting no?
a lil more than mp44s but still fine
?
I mean, from images it looks like you might be able to just not screw it in? since it gets pushed up against the back of the case anyways? but the back of the case might have something that gets in the way
Addlink s91....that'll work
yeah that one probably not too bad looking at it
Why not the mp44s or ud90?
Idk anything about it to be honest lol
@grim urchin if one of your monitors can go vertical, do that. If not, I’d suggest getting a small shelf above to the left of your desk
Or put the PC under the desk
Or turn the PC 90° and have a monitor sorta in front of it, if the desk depth allows
^
Or get a metal flat case and place monitor #2 above it
Nobody expects the crazy option
Optiplex ftw
The true way to use it too
I wonder if kids know about this
That we used to put monitors on top of pc's even in 2005
I did that last week lmao
When my room was under rewiring
I used my PC with the monitor on top of the case
@grim urchin put the second monitor on a VESA mount and rotate it so it's vertical
did you upgrade your existing pc with existing windows install?
Not sure I don’t recall if I do what do I do 😂
Do I hold the power and boot up again?
seems windows didn't like that
you can fix it with a windows reinstall
there's other ways, but im too sleepy. it's almost 12 in the night
Does it matter on AM5 if you have a Displayport on the mobo or not?
no
Nice
you can try enabling tpm
should be in security tab or something
or even cpu settings
mind if I DM you rq?
sorry but not now
Aight
i gotta sleep
f7
This is not a hard reset tho
Windows reset doesn't usually do a good job
Oh well just wiping all drives so it doesn’t happen again hopefully
Will see when it’s done the process
Hopefully it works
Cause then you'd have to do it again which is just annoying
But if it doesn't work, you'll just need to create a windows installation media on a flash drive, boot off of it and format the drive during installation
I’m guessing I’d need a second computer for that option
Hopefully it doesn’t resort to that 😦
Nah, you can still use the PC you're resetting as long as you can use a browser on it
If you can't though, then yeah
All my pc parts are getting shipped and they’re on their way. I got my extra thermal paste, my spreader, and a usb drive.
Whatd you get for gpu? Just curious
Alright nobody get mad but I got the one I’ve kept on talking about the rtx 4080. I was gonna get the super but was sold out all over online
Yeah it sold out fast like I thought it would, but if you got a good deal like that open box zotac regular 4080 in #tech-deals that wouldn't be so bad
How much was it?
If it was over 1050 I'm going to be sad for your wallet
It was about $1200. I’m sorry you get concerned about my wallet but there’s always more money to make down the road
Yeah but this is the same gpu for $270 less
https://www.zotacstore.com/us/zt-d40810d-10p-o
I think all that’s left for me to do is get a screwdriver kit online and should be set for the pc arrival.
You really only need a #2 screwdriver. Maybe a long shaft one if anything.
I’m pretty sure I’ll have my 4080 for a while. Most of the time the 4090 ends up being $2000 and when 50 ti series cards come out they could be extremely overpriced and scale past 2 grand
Those graphics cards in the future could be not worth buying no matter how great they are just because of the number in general
It's impossible to predict the future on this. Nvidia might end up making separate product lines for AI and gaming so they can continue to overcharge AI customers without alienating the gamers and continuing to lose market share. Or they could do something else entirely, who knows.
It’s just at some point the price has to get high enough for people to say no and just be satisfied with what they have already
a single monitor mount or double?
ive been thinking to get one for both but idk
Either. IMO though single is better in case you wanted to go back to one monitor
if i get a double, couldnt i remove one stand if i wanted to go back?
Nonetheless I’m pretty sure my rtx 4080 pc will have a lot of beef for vr gameplay
For VR? Not really
1080ti? Sure ig

It’s probably much that I went all out on a cooler with the dual. Rather have real efficient air cooling than no cooling at all. Just wouldn’t hurt to have since it was only around 40 bucks compared to the other parts I bought
Hey, cancel the order and get the super
https://www.newegg.com/zotac-geforce-rtx-4080-super-zt-d40820d-10p/p/N82E16814500580
I've lost count how many times I said "Don't get the 4080"
It’s shipped already so I can’t
And my experience on Amazon was once it has shipped you can’t get your money back. And sides despite the price the 4080 should still have great graphics and a high potency just not as much as the 4090.
It’s just $200. I have like $10,000 in my safe and there’s always more money to be made down the road.
You can send it back in the same box for a full return
I have a huge account with amazon. I know how their returns work
When you get older you'll realise $200 is actually a lot of money
And it's the better card
Make the effort
Dude I understand you’ve told me not to get it but you’re putting a ton of stress on me over $200. I really want my pc built
I need a break
I thank you for your help but just please
Lmfao
I am never using razer again
really no faster way to check my ram than doing that 3 hour troubleshooting thing?
i just tried different ram and the pc straight up didnt boot but im thinking the ram wouldnt seat properly due to clearance
im preeetty sure thee 4080S is better and cheaper
ok thn just stop talking here and go waste your money without telling us
nope
is this brand new build?
Send pic
no
of?
Ah
Some kits like teamgroup deltas will get stuck on fans in some cases and mobo combos
thinking of switching off aio soon anyway tbh
it was a g skill kit
Trident z can also do that
prolly y
ive been hearing that aio arent better than air coolers is there any truth to that
ok then i wont do that lol
maybe its placebo but it seems reseating the ram did something lmao
But what's really important, of course, is that AIOs look heckin' sick
No it really can help
Lmao
Sometimes ram just does not agree with the way it went in
Like at all
I know it’s just I got the original 4080 and it’s already shipped. I understand these guys are helping me and I respect them it’s just it’s too late for me to undo my purchase and I don’t know what to say
Felix has done a great job helping me. He knows his stuff and did a phenomenal job setting the pc build up for me. I am not trying to be rude or mean to anyone. I just want everyone to let me calm down about the $200 please. That’s literally all I ask. Dear god please try to understand
And I respect him for all that help just remember that
I think it’s time to wait for me to build my pc and turn it on so I can install windows because I want to make progress
Bro if you bought it, it is what it is and what's done is done....get your stuff, build it and enjoy your PC...don't let other people worry about your pockets nor beg for them to understand your decisions. It's for you at the end of the day, not them.....
$200 is $200 but in the end no one here is stopping you
We were just reccommeding the best course of action, as best as we know anyway
Apparently the kid doesn't care about the money so why stress him about it?
If he's that impatient then it's whatever at that point.
Let him have his fun
If a friendly recommendation is stressing then it's up to the person taking it
No one's forcing em
foxy thinking rn about what $200 can buy in thailand 💀
yes
See that's the issue...he already asked yall to not bother him about it twice...he said it when he bought it not to trip...so that last thing he wants is 5 more people telling him to return it, or trying to explain what the value of $200 is.
Remember I respect Felix and everyone in here gives great advice but I had to make a decision people are not proud of and we need to get to the next step so I can get my pc ready and going
yeah I’m sure the value of $200 in thailand is super relevant to him
people waste way more money on way dumber things it is what it is
I've seen worse, but it's okay. Enjoy your pc
sometimes I still think about that one build I saw on pcpartpicker
Mah hart, mah sole
don’t let the laptop manufacturers hear you or they’re going to be very upset
lolol
I dropped 1.2k for 4050
I feel it
"but it has oled!!!" when laptops are expensive
introducing the new asus tuf strix flow dash matrix with a core ultra 9 199xe, 192gb ddr5, and a breathtaking 8k oled screen, all powered by incredible ray tracing power (geforce rtx 2050)
dlss required
starting at the low low price of one mansion in dubai, only at best buy
has cool gamer rgb light strips blocking the air intakes
don’t worry if you’re getting 6 fps, at least those 6 frames look REALLY crisp
with hdr
So yeah no hate or nothing. I just really wanna make progress with my pc. That’s all
you know what I really don’t get? the obsession with screen brightness
the reviewer:
cons: the laptop screen is too dim with only a peak brightness of 80000nits!
the laptop: is literally the sun
where you actually use it outside
discord light mode at 80000nits
So what I’m going to do is wait for my pc parts, put the thing together when it arrives, and then figure out how to install windows on it without paying for it

you can use windows without a key forever
and skip entering a key during installation
or you can just use arch linux
"i use arch btw"

Eh, idk, Im kinda with Linus Techy Tips, display brightness war is a bit of a thing needed for making displays look more realistic. What you see outside is pretty damn bright compared to even bright modern displays.
I have another homework coming up soon for which windows is not allowed
Use msdos
meh maybe I’m just a vampire but my 250nits monitor is too bright I gotta use it at 35%
crazy to me seeing 1000 nits being called too dim
i run my 270 nits lappy at like
do they just not have eyes LOL
60%
High brightness for photorealism, but otherwise low for everything else. Then when going for proper brightness photorealism, it kinda has to not change brightness drastically quickly (which some videos/games/etc do).
my environment is perfect for sun to shine
So basically high brightness is only ideal for the proper content.
Also worth noting that peak brightness is usually for things like specular highlights, not always for the entire viewport
Except that he spent 1200 on the same card we linked for 930 and was in stock so
Moot point
We don't speak up to bully, just to coax
Newegg is arguably very tame compared to other pc enthusiast servers
^
And I recognise the point he wants to move along personally, but you know
Like any pc server
If you say something that doesn't agree with the masses
People will speak up
Since what I've acknowledged is not what the next person has acknowledged
And everyone here wants to help
I'm not gonna acknowledge rousing on someone as healthy behaviour but at the same time, I'm not gonna acknowledge that everyone was in tow to the same conversation either
Anyway, hatchet can stay buried now
So we all know what to do. I wait for my pc parts, build it, and then you all let me know how to start installing windows. If we can’t do that I won’t be able to get my pc up and running and then I’ll have spent all this money for nothing.
Felix’s advice is admirable and I thank him a lot but staying focused forever on saving $200 isn’t going to help me make progress with preparing my pc.
I can get my pc put together by myself no problem at all but I gotta make sure I can get windows installed onto my computer right or I can’t use the computer properly or play vr
We'll worry about that once it's here
youve said that like 8 times today
Use pcpp
coop was actually missing some of the stuff I use in that build. Idk if it’s updated but it didn’t have the 4070 ti super or the PSU
Use pcpp
I reckon I could save you a good near 700-ish for the same build
pls don't buy from one place
Gimme about 5 minutes I'll help
You just gaming?
Just gaming and general use. Starting from scratch, haven’t done a build in like 10ish years
yeah I can save you 700$ and get you a way better gpu
as fast of a gaming cpu
