at least X79 is cheap
Still haven’t got around to it.
X299 has no purpose
One of those bucket list things.
Other than pcie lanes
Is any Haswell architecture even on X79?
X299 is hilarious
Got this done
That's X99
Slightly more expensive (the better option imo)
Ok and so swap the psu, take the old ram out, also return that
Then we come to gpu
They're both dirt cheap anyways
Ah, my mistake.
You can build a whole gaming pc out of it for like $500 with a used 5700xt or something
If you can find a used one
Waiting on someone to ship a GA-Z97X-UD5H for me.
@mossy lion ideally this
https://pcpartpicker.com/product/c3RYcf/powercolor-fighter-radeon-rx-6700-xt-12-gb-video-card-axrx-6700xt-12gbd6-3dh
But you could very well do this
https://pcpartpicker.com/product/rJBzK8/acer-predator-bifrost-oc-radeon-rx-7600-8-gb-video-card-apbf-arx7600-8g-oc
Return the 580
thing I don't like about consumer haswell is core count
Can I even run my spare GTX 1660 with such an old board?
Meh, I’m just gonna fiddle with the i7-4790K’s IMC.
Yeah I'd reckon a 4790k can drive a 1660 fine
You'll just be cpu limited in newer games
I don’t have any other GPU for testing.
Ran a 1080 w/ 3770.
Would prefer not running an iGPU.
I should run a 1080 with a c2q
I have a 1080
And an almost complete 775 pc so
Just can't be bothered to take apart the pcs
Since I'm selling my haswell pc
E5-2666v3 and GTX 1080
Whole build was only $230
Well I'll just buy the GPU which one do you recommend I spent 130 on it
Chinese used market is dope
@cyan ravine
I linked 2 above
.
You should have some money saved from returning the other ram on top
So it shouldn't be as bad of a wallet hit
Now 4K would be a tall ask, but you would very easily get high fps at 1080p
4K low might work on apex
4k is annoying even for last gen top end cards
Not really
ok last last gen
Where has the time gone
Into games
Fallen titans

Back then I was incredibly stupid
Weren't we all
I nearly bought an alienware 1080ti sli system
I am not considered about 4k gaming more so about it being stuck to 1024
I plugged a floppy power connector onto my motherboard and it didn't turn on
It was my first build
Then def just one of the two I linked
6700xt will handle 1440p really well on apex
7600 should do too
Both exceptional 1080p cards in general
What about 3840x2160
That's 4k
Low settings lol
4K low probably Not for anything else other than apex when I say that
If you want to maintain 4k you're going to have to sacrifice other settings
It will look worse than just gaming at 1440p high
Ok that's fine
um
Thanks everyone for all your help 😁
What screws are used for case fans?
Where did it get stuck
Motherboards have a 4-light sequence called a post debug
It will light up on one of the 4 when it gets stuck
What is the name? Wondering cause my bottom fans are missing some screws causing uneven pressure resulting in occasional rattle.
oh nvm its on
Oh neat, nice
i had to plug in my f panel cable
but
the nzxt case fans are not on
but thats okay
Plugged in yes
i need help again how do i get past gigabyte bios
ive enabled xmp and done all my settings
and every time i exit it i just get sent back to bios
oh also my case fans are not working
to get past bios you need to install an os
boot led just means there's no os
you need another pc or laptop
and a usb drive with 8gb at least
then you can use media creation tool for win 11
im almost done with that, but how do I go about getting my case fans to work? will they work when I boot the pc with win11? @obsidian wigeon
are the fans plugged in to the correct headers?
and fans should work even without os
do they spin up, slow down then stop?
if so that means they're working
no they haven't spun yet
they're all plugged into my rgb hub that might be the problem tbh
do they need to be plugged into my mobo?
ok cool ill do that after my os transfers to my boot drive
rgb cables goes to rgb header, or rgb hub
the fans are rgb so does that change anything
i got the h6 flow rgb so the case fans it came with are rgb
ok gotcha
you have to connect those to your board
nah, but do go for pro
alright
@obsidian wigeon they're on now, but not spinning
i plugged it into the argb header on my mobo which is what turned them on
is there something else that I need to plug into the mobo?
aio and thats it
do you think they would've came separate in the case or already plugged in?
find other cables you haven't used from the fans
they're on the fans, just not hooked up to the board
ok gotcha
yea im ngl i can't find anything that isnt plugged in
alright that's fine then
maybe it's just bios fan profile prioritizing noise over cooling
the way to know is to run something that heats your pc up enough, like a game or a benchmark
if the fans spin up, then they're working fine
oh this is weird i found a build with my case and his fans arent spinning either
so maybe its plugged in just not wanting to be used yet
yes
woah my cpu is at 68c under like no load
did i mess up with thermal paste application
i thought it was good enough
which cpu?
7800x3d
Did you just install your cooler
if it throttles, you gotta check for cooler
what's that?
like if it starts going crazy
or smth
it means the cpu dropping its clock speed to keep itself from getting damaged from high temps
ok gotcha
the limit is around 95c i think for the cpu, but hitting sustained 90 usually isn't a good sign
Last time I ask for a little help tonight lol. another friend is looking for a graphics card. Wants nvidia brand, price range of about $500 US$
still at 60-65 in geometry dash lol
should i wait to play a real game
ya
4070 would do i guess
ok weird
7800xt is worth a look
alr
but that looks normal so far
it spiked to 74 during launching but is at 47 in a solos game
is it worth my time to check the paste application anyways
just to make sure
7800x3d just hot being itself
alright
It will be warm no matter what
actually im at 62 in game
Which is normal
Nope
It's the same as mine
on a custom loop
Because that's just how dumb am5 is
When it comes to temps
That almost reads as a haiku lmfao
ok, he also has a i5-12600K picked out, im an amd cpu user, is that any good? I have no idea what game titles he plans to play, he is a console player switching to pc
is this a new build
I believe so, he is picking out parts and I guess plans to build it or pay to have it built
if this is a new build, what's the budget?
What's his budget and need for the pc, gaming? Need wifi? Need monitor keyboard mouse etc?
1 sec
weird, the rgb for my galahad trinity isnt on
i think it just might not be working
it says its on in the lian li software
I cant get ahold of him I believe he may have gone to sleep.
All I know at the moment is he is coming from xbox and the ball park price I have is $1100
That would be a decent 6800-ish, 6800XT-ish build, maybe even a lot more
the motherboard he was looking at does not have a wifi card so maybe he doesnt need it
bro wtf, the ram he is looking at is CL46??? isnt that terrible?
Question @brittle tinsel is the 1100 including monitor
(jk)
I can fit ddr5 here too looks like
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/wwFqN6 @brittle tinsel have a look at this
Part List - Intel Core i5-12600KF, Radeon RX 6800 XT, SAMA IM01 MicroATX Mini Tower
Would suggest a used nvidia 3080 12gb if he insists on nvidia at this price bracket
Better than a new 4070 for less
Alternative colour choice:
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/qjC9n6
Part List - Intel Core i5-12600KF, Radeon RX 6800 XT, Montech AIR 100 ARGB MicroATX Mid Tower
thank you, I will pass these along to him.
@cyan ravine sup man
would the Radeon 7800 XT be decent enough for 1440 gaming like call of duty, apex legends and games like that?
everyone knows CL is the only thing that matters
gotta get that smooth mousefeel
that's why I daily DDR1-400 1.5-2-2-5
yeah
Ddr5-2400c6-8-8-172
DDR5 controllers can't even run cas that low
Meh. VA monitor.
So many people have no idea what it was like having only single core CPUs also.
Right? I would have loved to have 512MB back in the day, but I was stuck with 64MB
8MB of which was reserved for the iGPU
Trying to think of my 1st real ram kit. Had the 1.7ghz Northwood though. Probably started w/ maybe 2x256 or 2x512. $/GB sure was wild 20+ years ago of course.
Is pricing a Gigabyte AORUS ELITE Radeon RX 6700 XT 12 GB Video Card at $315 ripping people off?
Free shipping
Used?
Yes
It was used for 3 total days for basic windows operations.
Still a ripoff?
no
@mossy venture it’s this one
Dude tried offering me $175 for it today
So basically this guy wasn’t smart
His shop was just pc parts so probably a scalping reseller
what is a good Intel to pair with a 3070?
whats wrong with new?
Tbf it's a lesser evil than most new 40 series cos the price isn't too terrible
Just not the greatest value new
At the same price point iirc the 6800 exists and just completely destroys it
yeah, thats why Im thinking 3070, I figured it would be better than the 4070 in terms of price to performance
It is
I will agree with that, def is
But he can afford a 6800XT which is just, so much better than anything nvidia in that price class
6800XT is like, almost 3080 Ti in terms of raster
It's a slightly better 3080 12gb
im trying to avoid amd because last time I had amd, (my friend still currently has amd GPU) and its just non stop BS with driver issues, amd panel not opening, OBS crashing from amd and stuff like that so thats why im avoiding amd gpus
How long ago did you have amd?
Personally, 4 or 5 years ago
Cos about a year ago I would've made a case for drivers being still a bit problematic
But since rdna 3 released amd has gotten, reallllyyyy good
but my friend currently has amd gpu and whatever the amd software is called causes soo many issues
Between amd and nvidia I'd say the driver experience is just about at parity now
adrenaline or whateven
Has he tried ddu
What gpu
I believe we did that at one point and tried to reinstall the driver and had issues with that
Certain display configs, messing with a lot of settings, overclocking etc, can cause these things
AMD cards like to be messed with as little as possible
I’m gonna be completely honest with you
There’s once in awhile a bad card in a amd batch
I got that unfortunately
Somebody here did too
I dont know the exact model right this second but it was a new card in 2019/2020
We both got a pa-300 from a 6650xt/6700xt
Sometimes yeah, you get that one guy who with their windows just impossible to make it work
its not a new card if new means within the last 2 years
5700xt?
than its the 5700
Since end of last year tho drivers have improved tremendously for rdna 2 and 3 I can say that with a lot of confidence
Tbh you don’t need to worry about issues now
Like, october 2022 I first got to try rdna 2, it felt very like, flimsy
But it's your decision. Cheapest nvidia gpu worth it new right now is 4070
Cause if you look back in September with the 6800xt vs 7800xt
They were literally on par
Like you'd press a few buttons and you could guarantee break the drivers
Refurb 3070 and 3080 ok at $300/410, but atp why not just go used
Nowadays? It feels almost 1 to 1 with nvidia
Like really close
I daily a lot of cards, from both sides
7800xt eventually got better drivers, but so did the 6800xt. 6800xt now beats 3080 and has a better heat and wattage usage than the 3080s
I also do a lot of recording, not streaming or obs tho
maybe it will help if I add, he wants to play ark survival ascended in 1440p medium settings or 1080p high settings. so which of those 2 would be a better choice for gaming?
I would say for what I know, AMD is worth a shot
I steam through the amd drivers app
For rust
And my usage doesn’t go over 75%
Even with high settings, sharpness and etc
When I had a 6800xt, it came within 1% of 3080 tis in timespy with 5mins of ocing, not even messing with the power draw
For recording it I'd say 1080p and a 6700XT or better.
1440p a 6800xt should be more than fine
I guess technically its no longer slobs that I call obs, we use streamlabs
Streamlabs still have affiliation with obs
I’ve never liked streamlabs tbh
oh do they? I thought they dropped the obs part
So over complicated to me
7000 series has av1, if intel cpu with igpu could use igpu for qsv as well
It would be a thing I'd learn today if they did lol
Yeah AV1 and 7000 series is decent for recording
For obs as well to my knowledge 7000 series doesn't have any b frame trickery or complications
this is what it says from back in Nov 2021
Streamlabs has promised to remove “OBS” from the name of its livestreaming software, Streamlabs OBS, following backlash from streamers and the open-source livestreaming platform OBS Studio.
back to the processors. which of those intels would be a more buget friendly pick?
12400/f
alright, appreciate it
12600kf at $155 is a great deal
Ah it's $170 now
never heard of that
13600kf at $255 is well priced but that's not exactly budget lol
I believe I made a list with a 12600kf
For mobo, b660m pro rs and 32gb neo forza 3600c18 or b760m pg sonic wifi 32gb 5600mhz cl32 or 6000c30
I made 2 in fact
yeah actually the two you sent last night were with the 12600
yes I did, I sent those too him
Imo this for mobo https://pcpartpicker.com/product/ggddnQ/asrock-b760m-pg-sonic-wifi-micro-atx-lga1700-motherboard-b760m-pg-sonic-wifi
he knows nothing about pc and is switching from console but he is being complicated
Oh I see, is this a different person
Could do this for ssd, for gaming doesn't really matter https://pcpartpicker.com/product/Zwhv6h/corsair-mp600-core-xt-2-tb-m2-2280-pcie-40-x4-nvme-solid-state-drive-cssd-f2000gbmp600cxt
different person? its the one from last night, he is a friend of my best friend.
the one with the amd issues is another friend of mine.
Riptide has OC, kinda a different class of board
I see ok
Sounded like 2 people for a second
Lol
True but from what it sounds like I doubt they'd really use it
I mean fair? But the second list has sonic
Ah didn't see that
What gpu should I get for a i513600k on a 390-500$ budget
7800xt 6800xt
U can use amd gpu with Intel cpu no problems?
Of course
Gpu and cpu have nothing to do with eachother compatibility wise
is g skill a good brand? they have the same ram as teamgroup but cl28 instead of cl32 for like roughly $10 more....
g skill is decent
would you pay the extra for the difference of 4 cl?
Yes, btw whats the total budget for the build?
And did you already buy the cpu? If not, what are you using the pc for?
I know nothing about ram let alone DDR5, all I know is the lower the timings the better.
Here is the team group
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0B3GYZHYK?tag=pcpapi-20&linkCode=ogi&th=1
Ah, can I see the list just outta curiosity?
i'd probably get 6000cl30 instead
they shouldn't be much more expensive
and guaranteed good die
perfectly good
@flexiblefelix fiancé has a challenge for “those pc guys”
The most ripped off pc.
Overpriced but still useable
But just the worst possible sellers, with the worst possible price. Whole setup. Desk, chair, pc, case, keyboard, etc etc.
What will upgrading the cpu help with? Running multiple apps ?
@cyan ravine
upgrading cpu would help you getting more stable fps
or higher altogether
smoother too because 1% and 0.1% lows are better
upgrading to a 5600 would be a nice jump
Part List - Intel Xeon E-2274G, 3 x GeForce GTX 1050, Silverstone ALTA F2 ATX Full Tower
I-… what
Hey it's usable
5600 is actually what I already bought . Need to order thermal paste and do a bit more research as I heard it is a little harder to install
For every angle
They need to see 4 sides of my head and one of my socks
And one for the pets
CAMERA 1
CAMERA 2
DOG CAM
don't think you need paste since it does come with a cooler already, unless you meant that you have an aftermarket cooler already
Awesome
What needs to be done as far as setting it up ? Or nothing
Example the gpu i had to do drivers
nothing, other than updating bios before you upgrade
make sure the board has bios that's new enough to support 5000 ryzens
Just use the webcams as the desk
Ok guys I’m currently trying to build a new pc and need help finding a white intel motherboard for the kediers c590 with two ssd slots and the slot for the WiFi and Bluetooth chip
I'm guessing you're looking at LGA1700? That's Intel's current socket.
Asus motherboard’s that end in dash A
U can also use pcpartpicker then sort
I can’t put a picture in chat
Yea I know but it’s fine for the setup I’m doing cause they are coming out
I’d just scroll through Amazon, but all pc cases are basically a rectangular box
Nzxt airflow case is pretty neat
You ever see the ones with the interfaces on them?
Yea but there mods
Yea
These cases are harder to set up than the regular ones I’m guessing
Not really, I mean if there’s an lcd panel meant for the case it should be really easy
Most likely have them
There’s also small monitors which are kinda like that u can diy
I’m not smart enough to diy that kinda stuff myself
Gonna keep looking around
If you got some good looking cases lemme know
Imo it’s not worth it bc 99% of the time your pc is on your looking at the monitor
That pc case is the hyte y70 btw
Doesn’t come with the built in panel I think
I might honestly get a pre-build since I don’t have the time or the money for errors in building it myself
Some flashly looking prebuilt are really overpriced sometimes so I’d just compare prices with other prebuilds if they have the same specs
Try Phanteks or Fractal Design
They make some pretty good looking cases that are relatively inexpensive
And also Lian Li
They make really good cases
Visit our latest product the Y70, a mid-tower ATX pc case now with LCD side panel screen display. Shop today on our website HYTE.com
@cosmic sparrow comes with panel
It’s really not worth it tho imo unless u just have money to spend
If you're willing to go without the display, there's a lot of good cases under $200
True
A lot of them are less than $100
I have one in mind thats like $50
Which one might that be?
It’s in this parts list
Part List - AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D, GeForce RTX 4070 Ti, Montech AIR 100 ARGB MicroATX Mid Tower
I’m gonna run to Micro Center and see if they carry all the parts I need
If not I’ll get them through Newegg (I don’t really wanna)
is the 4070 ti the only white gpu at that price bracket?
You might be able to get a radeon for a lot less
I’d change the cooler
Btw u won’t be able to see if the nvme is white or not
I have fought tooth and nail over what cooler to use and I was recommended that one by the mods so I’m gonna stick with it for now
Maybe
I see a 7900XT for $799
Outperforms the 4070ti in most cases
There's also the 7800XT for under $600
Prob does except Ray tracing
Also has more vram

In this review, we benchmark the new AMD RX 7800 XT GPU and test it against the RX 6800 XT, NVIDIA RTX 4070, RTX 4070 Ti, RX 7900 XT, RX 6700 XT, and more. The GPU market still has last-gen options available, complicating the decision-making process for the RX 7800 XT. In some w...
This video contains a comparison between the three cards
I'd take a look at it
Overall it's quicker
If you want to save $200 without losing too much the performance take a look at the 7800XT
Even with RT factored
And it's because of this, that the 4070 super exists
Same with 4080 super
XTX is an overall win but raster it's just much better
Are there any XTX at the $700 price range tho
Yeah, woot
Would be ultra good value if there were
$800
WOW
White?
:outofstock:
Ok anyways
I’m swapping the video card for the RX 7900
7900XT is also $799
I really do not care about the internal colors
there's also the 7800XT if you don't mind losing a bit of performance for $200 less
If you got a recommendation for a cheaper or better performing part lemme know with a parts list cuz my phone keeps deleting my saved lists
I’ve made like 8 already
It’s very annoying
Honestly the list is pretty decent
I haven't seen the list
There's not much bad value parts, if any
I think I made one yesterday for you tho @cosmic sparrow
Well generally non white pc parts are cheaper, but by not that much most of the time
Part List - AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D, GeForce RTX 4070 Ti, Montech AIR 100 ARGB MicroATX Mid Tower
Oh lemme grab it (I’m so glad that I wrote it down on paper)
Solid ngl, 7900xt or 4070ti either way
Can be optimised a bit more but that's a good list
If you want to spend more imo, go oled 240hz
Would be the next meaningful upgrade
Or xtx
You'd peak after that tho
Part List - AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D, Radeon RX 7900 XT, Montech AIR 100 ARGB MicroATX Mid Tower
I swapped out the gpu
Any issues with asrock?
Not really sure of their reputation in the gpu space
Ah
Newegg Pc build (Recommended - AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D, GeForce RTX 4070 Ti, Montech AIR 100 ARGB MicroATX Mid Tower
So this one is solid
That's a 4 slot cooler
Lemme tidy it
Few dollars saved and a slightly better psu
Welp the white t-create went out of stock but still:
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/FV77MV
Or white psu:
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/RQqMXk
Part List - AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D, Radeon RX 7900 XT, Montech AIR 100 ARGB MicroATX Mid Tower
Part List - AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D, Radeon RX 7900 XT, Montech AIR 100 ARGB MicroATX Mid Tower
Bit more of an improvement, 4070ti still works with these
Part List - AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D, GeForce RTX 4070 Ti, Montech AIR 100 ARGB MicroATX Mid Tower
Consider this if you want to spend more imo:

OLED panels OP
Imma go with this one and the other monitor since I’m gonna be kinda tight on cash
As long as they work for what I want I could care less
It will, should be quite nice
A friend of mine Is building a pc and stumbled upon a slight problem, he has a 360mm thermalright aio, there's a CPU fan connector but no pump connector apparently, motherboard is a asus tuf gaming a620m plus, can't find it either from the images, can it be connected on another regular fan header?
yes
No problems about the 1A max current output of the normal headers?
Should the pump be set to 100% always? Or should there be a curve?
pump should be 100% all times
and tbh just connect pump connector to the cpu fan header
for easier control
Ok thank you
So the 3 fans just go on a case fan header right
Bruh I recommend this mb to my friend and I didn't even think about the pump header, I thought it was something all motherboards had
Even my 40€ mb on the second build has one dedicated
cpu fan header works the exact same
and some boards will complain if you don't have anything hooked to cpu/pump header
Finally fixed the whineing from my fans.
My middle fan, one screw was on slightly to loose.
@obsidian wigeon friend's pc is running, pump 100% speed and he can hear water moving, does that mean there are some bubbles he has to move to the rad?
When the pump is at 100% it's going to make the most water noise because it's agitating the water. If you're working out bubbles, 50-70% is good. The noise will go away on its own.
Depending on how much air it can take a few days to a week
Can you get a psu that's overkill?
Yes
Yes
You can also get a psu that can over-kill your pc
As in burn your house down
Usually the venn diagram is not overlapping much
My personal opinion is that max of 150 over max load
But I am an overprepper
I just want for future lol apparently I'm more excited on upgrading my son's pc then he is !
@potent portal
What’s the build you have in mind?
Been upgrading my son's pc
Need to install ryzen 5 5600
Don't mind the ssd the wiring in the back was a nightmare
If you know any of the parts, you can add it to https://pcpartpicker.com
I would get rid of that gigabyte psu asap.
That's the plan lol
Fill in a list for that site, and I can put in a good w psu
How so I send it
Copy the link at the top.
Part List - AMD Ryzen 5 5600, Radeon RX 6700 XT
Hello all and Happy Holidays! My son and I are building new PCs and have come across a problem. When we power on the system, the yellow Q-Led remains yellow and there is no display (monitor says no signal). All components are new. The first RAM I installed (G-Skill) was not on compatability list so I purchased another pair (Corsair) that is on the list but the problem continues.
Both builds are the same except for the video card (which is not installed right now).

Mother board I am not sure
Its a cheap on that came with a skytech
Biostar
Looks like a320 from looking on Google
It's probably looking for an operating system
Do you have your install USB ready?
Oh wait, got people mixed up
Swapped put gpu yesterday worked fine till this morning
Doesn't let him go into bios
How to clear CMOS (works for AMD and Intel)
https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/articles/000025368/processors.html
Defines CMOS technology and how to clear CMOS using the jumper or battery methods.
That's good to do for any major hardware change.
Biostar is known as the brand that's the cheapest of the cheap outs, it's possible you won't be able to upgrade the CPU to the 5600. I can check if you get the exact model number. The CPU-Z mainboard tab will tell us.
Damn, biostar boards in 2023
What's the difference?
It has a 2600 right now
What's a good mother board for 6700xt and ryzen 5 5600
His birthday is next month anyway lol
I bought a prebuit for a 9 year old at the time its been good for 3 years !
It's likely b450mh
With skytech
They really like that mobo for cheap am4 builds
It's also the singular worst b450, from what I remember
The difference between the 2600 and the 5600 can be as much as double, but the motherboard needs to know how to read the CPU code since it's very different. If the motherboard has the update that tells it how to read the code, then it'll work fine. Otherwise it'll need to be swapped out.
Gotcha
Well I'm going to end up doing it sooner then later
For now I need to get it out of that screen
Nice lol
@granite imp built computers for his kids too
If these things weren't so expensive I would build one for my self
But all I play is cod I'm fine with series x and monitor I would need atleast 3500 pc lol maybe more
@severe hull I could build you a list for ~$1000 that would do fine
Desk+pc+kb&m+speakers included.
Could put a 6700 xt in there.
That's not bad
That's using FSR balanced though, basically rendering in 720p
easiest thing to do would be to check the board here and see which LED is lighting up
6700xt can probably do 100-120 in cod at native 1440p
really?
ok yeah maybe not in WZ
but my 3060ti gets 100ish in MP and iirc the 6700xt is a decent margin better than the 3060ti in cod
becauase with DLSS on a 3060ti i get about 180-200fps i think it is 1440p low, now thats mw2 idk what mw3 is like don t have it
i guess yeah probably pretty similar
How do I do ddu

You have to pay ?
It should be free
@stoic island you got a minute?
Hi
Was wondering if ya had some time to help someone with a windows 11 install
I can try
kk, @zinc glen come in here. this is good place for troubleshooting and building
looks like a generic requirement error @stoic island
alright looks like jp is helping them working on tpm so we'll see what comes out of that
yeah just keep an eye out
no luck might just go with windows 10
idk
nothing worked
Confirmed cpu it's a biostar a320mh. So can it handle the ryzen 5 5600?
Yes but you'll probably need to update bios, make sure to do that first
Can the vrms even supply 80w? Knowing how bad the b450 version is im scared of the a320 lol
What's vrms?
What's a good upgrade
I'm thinking corsair 750 for psu and what motherboard ?
Voltage control essentially.
Regulates power supply on your board so you don’t try anything.
Also what power supply model?
?psu

As far as picking a motherboard for you, it’s only a few questions.
Would you like onboard WiFi assuming you don’t already have a WiFi card on hand or wanna run Ethernet?
Do you care for specific I/O?
Does the look of the board matter to you?
I should have mentioned it - yes it's the DRAM light
I have a question about a vintage intel core i5-4590 and needing to buy a new motherboard
Few other small things vary, but I’m gonna assume for your use case it won’t matter.
“Vintage.”
What’s going on?
Looking to upgrade your CPU?
My bios decided to off itself and took the motherboard with it. So I’m just looking to see what would be compatible with my i5
Need wifi other stuff no
Mind you I built this pc back in 2016🤣
Any LGA1150 socket motherboard.
This is for your Ryzen 5 5600, yes?
Or was that someone else?
Awesome I’ll start looking! I appreciate you!
Anytime, lemmie know if you need anything else.
Yes!
Gimmie a quick second.
@severe hull https://pcpartpicker.com/product/kcCFf7/asrock-b450mac-micro-atx-am4-motherboard-b450mac
Chance it might need a BIOS update.
This is a good bit better of a board https://pcpartpicker.com/product/T6YmP6/asus-tuf-gaming-a520m-plus-wifi-micro-atx-am4-motherboard-tuf-gaming-a520m-plus-wifi
Tuf a520 my beloved
Both are more likely to not need a bios update too
is there anythign to do in the meantime other than replacing my psu?
wouldnt changing my power plan help me?
Yeah that looks like psu to me
No
If the psu is tripping it's quite a serious thing
There's always the chance we are wrong, but psu replacement would be my first suggestion here
Usually if it was anything else (USUALLY) the event viewer would give some indication
okay, do you know if amazon would accept a 3 week old psu lol
Pretty sure
anyone know which psu to get?
Few min
ty
do you need my build again?

Nah
I'd say one of those two
Msi one imo
perfect now im gonna find out how to take back an item from amazon
Should be fairly simple, the psu itself should be able to run a 6700xt no problem. If they won't refund you you could try for a replacement
i have a 6800
thats prob the issue there
Yes but it’s okay i forgive you
I’ll get a new psu soon hopefully
Haha yea they know more then I do tho
I’m a newbie when it comes to this
All good. It's easily fixed cos it's amazon anyway
Just initiate the return rn
List your reason as "wrong unit"
You could claim faulty, it should still go through
Give them your whole story if needed
They'll send you a label and give you 7 days to box it and send back
Once you've sent it the chargeback should be in your account
Ah well, better it rebuilding than it falling apart and frying tho
Corsair units are definitely on the better side imo for catching something going wrong
Not all but most
the cable managment in my pc is so bad im suprised it didnt blow up
the case itself was a pain
Their head of department is a very vocal public guy, loves to really push his agenda and it's a good agenda for psu safety
thats good
Which case?
We appreciate all the feedback we can get, we are a bunch of volunteers on the web, so good feedback is a dime a dozen
It’s the phanteks 300ga or something
G300a?
Ah, I think I know what you mean
It's a standard case so they have some rather narrow nooks
Standard layout can be annoying like that
In a lot of cases tbh
The benefit though is it is a cheap mesh box with fans
You make off with a decent deal performance wise
Albeit the interactivity is not the most desirable
Mine didn’t come with fans
And the gpu could barley fit
Oh the 1 fan variant?
Yep
Alright will keep that in mind

Pc won’t turn on after a forced shut down, motherboard lights are on, tried a bunch of different things I saw online but nothing helped still won’t turn on at all
switch it off at the back
hold the power button down for 10 secs
turn it back on at the back
turn it on at the power button
does it click twice?
spotify algorithm is broken
keeps putting songs from this one artist in my release radar cause i listened to one of his songs one time
ive said "don't recommend" to like 40 of his songs by now and i still get a new one from him every week
Wdym by does it click twice? Like make a sound?
No nothing happens
Nah no fan spins no lights nothing
is the power button plugged in
Only the constant motherboard lights are on
front panel plugs might not be plugged in
Yeh I thought that too, so I unplugged them and redid them and even tried putting the resets button to the power on pins to see if the power on button was broken but that didn’t work
it doesn't even try?
And also I used the button to force shut down so don’t see how it would be the buttons
Nah nothing happens
Fascinating
it sounds psu related
check all the psu cables?
redo the cable management to see if it's a rogue ground
Even though the motherboard lights are on? Maybe psu not giving enough power?
sometimes ground detection will cause a psu to refuse to turn on
yes
even though the lights are on
So just put them in different slots?
that's like asus standard fanfare it's unrelated
yea sure
shuffle them in the case
like where you've routed them
Oh okay like tidy up the cable management?
ye
rearrange it
if you have a rogue ground, it might be touching a pin against the case or something
What’s a rogue ground? It doesn’t look like any pins are touching the case but I’ll try tuck some in
like
power is touching the case when it shouldnt
or touching something else in the case
causing a circuit
if a psu can detect that then it won't turn on
Hmm was a good idea but it doesn’t seem like that’s the issue
I think this guys offering me 140$ and a 6500xt for my gpu.
This is for my 6650xt btw. He said 120-150$ but he wasn’t so sure
I would of cried if it was 7800xy
But there’s a guy giving me 200$ cash
For the card
So..
200 is good
It’s around a 30$ lost from when I bought it last year
I'm actually a bit confused ngl, I feel your pain rn lol
So annoying :(, maybe my motherboard or psu stopped working all of a sudden or something,, doesn’t make sense and will be a pain to fix
which mobo is it @south lark
And power supply
Asus prime b450mk very old now
did you ever do any cpu change or ram change in the last few days
Any cleaning, moving of the pc, or power outage in the last week/few days?
Idk I’m just reading the side of the power supply it says 650g+
No nothing like that, there was a storm yesterday but not problems yesterday or up until the freeze today
3060 ti
Yeh pretty much, I was just installing a new app
Mmmm by chance do you have a second ssd/HDD
tempted to say take the power out again
Any other storage system
and hold the power button for a minute
eh why
I don’t have any other ssds unfortunately
no that's unlikely
an ssd will either do that when it's faulty day one or show 10000 warnings on boot first due to S.M.A.R.T readings
it's AM4
I'd believe the cpu dying first before the ssd
or ram, bad mount
The cpu is pre new
mobo is an m-k which is, meh
usable but questionable in it's nature
as with most lower end am4
Prime in general is low end of am4
actually, did you plug anything in with a usb recently?
Mid vrms
sometimes a shorting usb connection can be the culprit
Not really, I do use a lot of usb things tho
No but only 1 spare port
hm
still interested to try this
try only mouse and keyboard plugged into usb
if even just only the keyboard
how old is the G+ psu?
Maybe 5 years old
ooo ok
Yeh I’ve been trying with nothing plugged in
Sadly no
what cpu have you got
i know which one
I can’t remember now
Yeh that’s the one
you could try warrantying it with evga
if not successful, I can suggest an alternative
Yeh well it’s just annoying because I can’t even figure out the problem
psu issues can do that
Would the psu going make it freeze like it did?
yes it can
if it finally kicks the bucket, it's open season for issues
this is speculation but I think there could be something there
Yeh but I feel like it would just turn off no? Or is that stupid
one sec lemme get you a recommendation
not always
I've had psu's kill my cpu while I'm installing
(rip my 12900K)
So it could have killed my cpu too?
