Yep
Not worth future proofing a cooler unless you plan upgrading very soon to it
Cooler prices have done nothing but drop
Sweet! Should I just sit as is with no upgrade, then?
Update; I currently have it set to 4k120hz, even turned off hdr, at 444 12bpc in NVCP and it’s still flickering every 2 seconds now
Run 422
Didn't you hit like 90c + in games?
Does thus look good pato?
Uh
They released smth new and I'm positive I hope I can get the scholarship
I did, but haven't since I recently move my pc to a more open spot! It was up against a two walls in a corner
Can you show me the ones you posted yesterday?
there is no 422 option in nvcp, only RGB and 444
Ah okay then if you're currently getting a lot less that's fine
Probs fake
Building that thing from amazon
Costs like the same thing without sales taxes
So probs used or fake yk
Here it is
Ah okay well if you don't trust it that's fine although it's a better deal
12400f is a good bit better than 5500
But with a 1660 super you won't be able to notice
And that one has more storage, nicer case and probably nicer psu
So that's a good deal???
Niceee
Should be 670jd with kb and monitor and mouse
Sure? I didn't know the market there tbh
Yes
So good price in your opinion? Now I just need to pray for the scholarship
Sure?
Aight thanks
@cyan ravine So I bought the 32gb ddr4 but my pc wont start when it’s in
Is it possible my pc won’t accept the card?
@dusty cedar
@earnest olive
Put the sticks in slots 2 and 4, counting from the CPU
They're currently in 2 and 3
I tried it with just in slot 2 and it didn’t start @potent portal
How to clear CMOS (works for AMD and Intel)
https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/articles/000025368/processors.html
Those aren't in all the way
It takes a little bit of force, press on both sides of each stick until you hear a click on both sides
Ahhhhh success
Man I thought I pressed hard enough but not enough concentrated force
It can be tricky to tell if you haven't done it before
Worried about breaking the delicate parts
It's less delicate than you think
Really only the CPU pins would be delicate enough to break if you dropped it or pressed on it
👍
I don't have it with me yet (it's what I am planning to order roughly in the start of July for my new PC)
i’m terms of performance, should I buy an asus dual oc or zotac gaming twin edge oc for a 3060ti gpu
There's effectively no difference between them, whichever is cheaper
i mean
if you buy used for a good price
why not
i wouldn't buy new at msrp though
Hence I said new
ah i missed that
Used is wiser
Cuz all you get for cheap new rn are erm
Ventus 2x with g6x version of 3060ti

100c+ vram
I mean the price of 280 aint bad
280 for ventus 2x g6x tho
that's problematic
not card breaking just kinda iffy
hm, that's good while it lasted
Eh I'd probably say a bit better since they get way more optimisation
yeah and that they technically get more vram
10 on 6700 instead of 16 unified memory
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/r27Zk9 want more opinions on my budget build thanks
imo save some money and go gen 3 drive, gen 4 doesn't do too much benefit for day to day use, and even gaming, and also get like 2tb especially if you are planning on gaming (which looking at your specs, you are)
It's only a $3 savings to go gen 3, might as well do gen 4
It'll save whole minutes of your life over 20 years by booting windows faster at least
Very nice build
If they had the budget for more storage they would be better off putting it into like a 6750xt tbh, more storage is easy to add
And 1tb is plenty of storage especially at that budget
I’d spend the extra $100 to get a 13400 but that’s just me
I've never used a full tb of storage
Not worth would again be better off being put into the gpu
i used up 1tb of storage in a week lmao
I use my pc for gaming too
1TB holds at least 4 CoD installations
I think I'm currently at like 600-700gb used and i have COD cold war and mw2
also to be fair, i hoard my game installations since my internet speed is pretty terrible
But really most people aren't data hoarders like us, they don't install every game they might possibly feel like playing
I also hoard all my game installs, mostly why I have 9Tb in my PC
if i had the internet speed to be fairly quickly be able to re-install games, then i would delete games way more often
If your internet is 100mbps+ it really doesn't take that long to download stuff
I recently downsized my storage believe it or not. I took one of my sata SSDs and put it in my PS4.
i have 40 down on a good day
not really lmao
Even more oof
Granted I still have a 14TB storage server so that doesn't exactly hurt me... but that's not the point lol
i live like, 2 hours from downtown toronto
Oof
Yeah, i live about an hour away from dublin in an estate and we get offered 500mbps and possibly 1gbps
damn
i think there are options for 100mbps internet where i live, but they're very expensive without any deals or such, i think it was like, 120/m? honestly idk, only rogers has their lines on my street i think
Speaking of internet, my internet just want down

I just switched back to comcast actually, $45 for 400 down. I'll just cope with 10 up.
T-mobile was good for a couple years but it's getting too congested and my speeds were dropping, not to mention the unstable ping
That sounds decent
I live in the country so I have bad options for WiFi lol download speeds are bad
Uploads is meh
I can still game without lagging which is the only good part I guess. I get like 50 ping on. A bad day lol
How high is the improvement from ps4 to pc out of 10
fr
my upload is 4mbps
on a good day
luckily most days are good days
but the bad days are like 1mbps up 💀
and like, sometimes even lower downloads
oh mb i shouldve posted this here
Part List - AMD Ryzen 5 7600X, GeForce RTX 3060 12GB, Lian Li O11 Air Mini ATX Mid Tower
pretty meh for the price
bit cheaper, same cpu performance with better xmp ram, and 30% gpu perf increase https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/list/cRMD6r
Part List - AMD Ryzen 5 7600, GeForce RTX 3060 Ti, Lian Li O11 Air Mini ATX Mid Tower
No
just no
It should not cost that much for a 3060build lmao
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/tQFDDq The pato build
Part List - AMD Ryzen 5 7600, Radeon RX 6950 XT, Deepcool CK560 ATX Mid Tower
its canadian
Rip
Uhhhh what should we do
I have the settings currently set to 4k60hz with no hdr & "use default settings" on NVCP for stability sake. No cuts at all, so that's good

Try this^
Is the XFX speedster XT model worth it over the Non XT model?
Which models and what prices? You described GPUs that at least 3 different models would match.
Anyone able to give me an idea on pc issue? So far: moved my pc recently to a friends, sat on its back for maybe an hour or two, rode in his trunk. When I went to set it up, gave me red error lights on the motherboard. At first dram and cpu, took them both out and re slotted, not it’s only vga and boot light. After playing with my GPU I realized it slots really weakly on the left side (hdmi side) and I’m thinking it sagged and got bent. Any ideas? So far I’ve tried: cmos reset, bunch of psu/power resets, I don’t have an extra pc to try swapping stuff around but going to a shop is last resort. Additionally thought, my monitor seems weird too, it won’t display to my laptop and seems off, I’ll be testing the display after this message (I also got a brand new hdmi and no change) best guess so far is damage from sagging. I’m not too smart so thank you all for any help.
Specs: basic ryzen 7, (sorry I know nothing else) msi GeForce rtx 3070 venture OC (pretty sure it’s a ti tho) 650W psu, and 48gbs of ram. No clue on what motherboard.
Right now I cant get the cpu cooler back on bc I’m having bolt issues, but I lay it on the cpu pre boot and there’s still a thin layer of paste, I’ll get more, but I’m almost certain it’s the GPU
Red light in the motherboard manual said RAM and CPU correct?
Sorry for not updating. It was literally my monitor
I’m so mad
I do stupid stuff like that all the time
Lmfao
At least nothing is broken
$200 fix vs $800 fix is a W in my books
Oh, for sure
How do I go about upgrading a 10 year old Asus M32 Series compuer tower to windows 11, does anyone have the answer because I don't want to buy a new computer if I can just upgrade it myself.
Are you sure you want to use it for windows 11? The hardware wouldn't be officially supported by windows 11, but you can bypass the requirements
I will try to bypass the requirements, with the instructions on how to get around the windows requirements thank you.
Take a look at this
https://www.tomshardware.com/how-to/bypass-windows-11-tpm-requirement
It's okay
Yes, thank you, I will give that bypass route a try. Thank you very much for your help.
You're welcome
Thanks Felix! I’m stuck on after step 6. I can’t reinstall any drivers or even access nvidia experience to begin with because my pc keeps booting and safe mode & won’t connect to the internet
Update, Full DDU process successful! What's next?
Ethernet!
hmmm
oh you're booting into safemode without networking
uhhhhh hmm that's usually if something has gone wrong
try this
press win+r (run dialog should appear)
type in msconfig and click enter
in the general tab, make sure that it's set to normal
in the boot tab, make sure that the safe mode box is not checked
and then restart your computer and see if it boots into normal
Yup, all fixed! thank you for your knowledge; I'm going to copy+paste it for later help if ever needed
np
Alrighty! when using the r646's native 4k x 2k, I see this:
When changing to 120hz in Windows Advanced Display Settings, the only options avalible inside of NVCP are RBG and 444
strongly recommend upgrading it with an SSD if you plan to run modern windows, either 10 or 11
quick google says they don't come with SSDs by default
SSDs are really cheap now and will make it feel like a new machine
even with a 4th gen i3 and 8gb ddr3
if you have a higher configuration, even better
you won't have to remove the existing hard drive to add an SSD either
without upgrading to an SSD, your PC might actually feel slower on a newer version of windows
if you've got an i5/i7 and 16gb ram and only use it as a browsing/office machine you can realistically squeeze out another 5-10 years out with a $34 SSD upgrade
if you've got 8gb ram, it's probably fine for now, but it's also not expensive to upgrade that to 16gb with used ddr3
even if you're not much of a computer guy, ram and ssd upgrades are some of the easiest upgrades you can make to a system
(at anyone wondering why i'm recommending a sata ssd, i double checked, despite running a devil's canyon cpu it uses an 8 series chipset with no m.2 support)
the board does only have 2 ddr3 slots, so it's impossible to upgrade it to 32gb ram, 16gb would be the maximum
im getting my psu tomorow and i've set up a stupid little test bench to make sure everything's alright before it goes into the case
im on crack lmao
Hey guys I’ve got a question. I just built a new PC and I’m having an issue I’ve never had before. My build is an Asus Prime Z690-A motherboard, i9-13900K CPU, gigabyte RTX 2070 super, and 32GB Corsair Vengeance Ram. I bought a new case as well. I have got everything hooked up and managed and when I press the power button, everything comes on. However none of the ports on the back of the motherboard are working and none of the ports on my Graphics card are working. Also my GPU fans are running full blast for reasons I don’t Understand. It’s a good card, I took it out of my last build and even put it back in to test it and make sure it was working. Not sure what to do .
You may have to update the motherboard bios to support the 13th gen CPU.
Oh I didn’t think about that!
Thank you!! I didn’t think about that!
i hope this is not that much of a bad idea
other than dust that may gather over the course of under 20 hours
it's perfectly fine, though personally i would have just used the motherboard box rather than the tempered glass side panel lmao
wait
why is the cpu cooler not on the cpu
?
????
Hey I have a problem my pic shut off while I was playing and the only thing that stayed on was the ram does anyone know what happened?
also i find it funny that you have everything plugged in despite not having the psu
Pc*
only the ram?
Yes
huh.
I’m lowkey scared cause it’s not turning back on
that's pretty strange ngl since usually even if the mobo is broken, the fans would still run?
I switched off the power supply and unplugged it and when I plugged it back is and turned on the psu only the ram turns on
hmm, try unplugging everything and re-plugging them and see if it fixes it at all
i haven't seen this situation before, but i barely ever work with ram with rgb lmao
Okay thank you
i'll brb in a little bit, ping me if it is fixed or not fixed
Hey does anyone know how or know of a decent video that explains how to update my new board to support 13th gen processors? It won’t load into the bios and I don’t have a 12th gen or another cpu with LGA1700 to run on it so I’m guess I’ll have to do it with a usb
you just need the file on a usb (might have to be fat32) with a specific name (check the manual)
as long as you have the bios flashback button or whatever the manufacter calls it
Look at their io
this is completely standard
No bios flash button
Ah, they stated the board above
heck, miners ran $10000+ setups in a similar manner for 2 years straight
they were fine
Prime z690-a doesn't have flashback
oh i see
honestly should just return the 13900K and get a 12400 lol
upgrade to 14th gen refresh when you're ready to upgrade the GPU too
14th gen should be compatible with z690 and you can use the 12400 to update bios for it
i5-12400 is already overkill paired with that 2070 super
wait, 14th gen is going to work with z690? got damn
i thought intel said only 12th and 13th gen
yeah, but it's not a good thing
oh
15th gen we will have next socket
it's only happening because meteor lake-s has bad enough issues that desktop 14th gen will just be raptor lake+
the classic intel move
💀
inb4 we get raptor lake++++
and then meteor lake finally comes to desktop for 18th gen but has to be back ported to intel 7 after intel 4 completely fails
stagnation 2: electric boogaloo
AM5 shills gonna trash Intel hard for that if it were true
but hey, at least it's better than when they made 8th gen use an incompatible socket despite being the same architecture
and I'm sure it wasn't for technical reasons considering users were able to mod it to work with... tape...
there was no v3
it was just v2
they also weren't technically physically compatible
at least not without modification
but that was deliberate
You can bios mod em and the newer cpu will work tho
no
it's more than just a bios mod
depending on the manufacturer you also have to block certain pins
Intel moment
The only reason I have the 13900K is because my wife and I run a store where we get liquidated Amazon pallets and we just so happened to get one in one of our pallets (I had a friend test it on his board to make sure it worked before I took it and ran fortunately)
intel changed some pins around specifically to make it harder to direct socket
I'd just sell the 13900K then and get the 12400 anyways
Understandable. I may just do that.
due to a poor choice in motherboard your current options are to either buy a 12th gen CPU to update before putting the 13900K back in, or take it to a shop and pay them to update it for you
or flash it with a ch341a programmer if you have that I guess
I’m just impatient and ready to use the new pc lol
if you're already buying a 12th gen CPU you might as well just keep it
can probably drive out to best buy or equivalent if you're not in the US and grab a 12400 off the shelf
would be fastest
Or spend a bit for some cheap celeron
Plop it on, update bios then put the i9 back in
you could go for a celeron and keep the 13900K but it's kind of just pointless with a 2070 super
True. Strangely enough the closest Best Buy to me is like an hour and a half because I live in the sticks in Alabama lol
I plan to upgrade my GPU very soon. I have a stack of AMD motherboards that I’m possibly about to trade someone for a 3070
so you can imagine how wasteful 13900K is for a 2070 super
12400 is also a perfect match for a 3070
I know I’m interrupting this but do you have any idea which board is better of a Z790 Aorus master, Taichi and Strix E?
And yeah 13900k 100% overkill for 2070
why do you want another z790 board?
Dead PCie slot
His current one has ded slot
what happened
Broken a trace
did you leak water on it
I’m stupid
Not water leak, a deep scratch
I mean given you're interested in ram oc maybe you should just ignore all of the above and get a 1dpc board
you clearly have the money to spend
How much would I be looking to get one for?
Because I also need a motherboard that can easily be dailyable
the budget route would be an itx board for low 200s I think
z690 kingpin goes up to 400
z690 u-x is 425, z790 aorus tachyon is 600
z790 apex backordered for 700
you should probably ask someone like gary or felix about 1dpc ddr5 boards though
Apex as much as I would want one I also need to have decent IO/M.2 slots
I'm not very knowledgeable about them besides that they exist
I think I’ll just stick to a 2DPC boards because of that
Not as if a 1DPC will help much with my IMC not liking anything about 64Gb 6800
it might help more than you'd expect
Are there any 1DPC boards that have 4-5 M.2 slots?
Wait nvm I’m just going to get another Aorus master because of the damn monoblock
💀
Completely forgot that i ended up going with the monoblock and not the velocity2 block
I did put the cooler onto it earlier and put it on the mobo box due to two comments I saw, the cooler shouldn't be an issue because I took it back out of the case with the cooler on just fine. It has a pretty strong grip on the backplate and whatnot.
@dusky hearth still nothing ):
can I get into a video call with someone so I can try to clean my gpu lmao
Cleaning a gpu doesn't take much effort
never done this before lol
Just make sure the fans doesn't spin while you're taking like compressed air can to it
People doesn't really do video calls here for help
zzzz
Finding guides on youtube would help though, if anything
Only ram and no fans spinning still?
Also try seeing if the pc will post with the minimal amount of hardware connected
And clear cmos
Btw when you unplugged and replugged everything, did you reseat the cpu (and also inspected for any damage or such) just in case
Yo can anyone help me put together a good 2k pc build?
It’s okay if it’s over 2k by a little
Yeah for sure, what’s it gonna be for?
Gaming, streaming, coding, workstation, or something else?
That’ll help us get you started with a base knowing where to focus your budget
Gaming
Alright alright
Let’s see here
@livid hound, you need wifi or do you use Ethernet?
Ethernet
Alright, gimmie a few secs
Isopropyl alcohol is safe to quickly clean certain electronics?
Diff person
Yes but apply it to a cleaning cloth and not directly to what you're cleaning
Yes, 90% recommended but 70% is okay too. Just make sure it dries completely
^
im using cotton swabs because my mt dew cup spilled lmao
nto entirely
I tried taking all usb hardware when turning on and I haven’t reseated cpu I’m gonna buy some thermal paste tomorrow to do so. Although I doubt is the cpu because I’ve only had this pc for a year and I made sure to buy the best parts I could find and afford I’m thinking it might be the psu but I’ll keep you posted tomorrow I appreciate you trying to help tho thank you so much
Mtn dew is corrosive so you'll want to get that off asap

Part List - Intel Core i5-13600KF, Radeon RX 7900 XTX, Phanteks Eclipse G360A ATX Mid Tower
Same list I did last day but prices remained the same
Oh NVM
Wait, mobo has to be swapped. No wifi needed
Yeah maybe 280mm AIO and 13700KF would be a bit much for a gaming build
?
Oh
Do most Z790 boards have wifi?
Part List - Intel Core i5-13600KF, Radeon RX 7900 XTX, Phanteks Eclipse G360A ATX Mid Tower
Nah
This motherboard has WiFi?
Does 7900 XTX really eat that much wattage
yes
Tyty
btw scroll up a bit more if you want wifi board
made two lists already
Newer generation GPU’s generally scare me
The one with the z790 board ??
AMD option @livid hound https://pcpartpicker.com/list/grLxyK
Part List - AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D, Radeon RX 7900 XTX, Phanteks Eclipse G360A ATX Mid Tower
Oh okay
Also falcie, peerless assassin cheaper tho
And A620 is actually usable for any am5 cpus
Uhh, I did some mistake
Just realized it
Why not get Phantom Spirit? Extra $2 for seven heat pipes instead of six
$8 more for RGB Phantom Spirit
The cooler is easy enough to swap according to taste, same as the case. As long as it's a 6+ pipe dual tower (or fat single tower) it'll handle the X3D.
Hmmm, makes sense
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/4RR878
@livid hound
Part List - AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D, Radeon RX 7900 XTX, Phanteks Eclipse G360A ATX Mid Tower
AMD build
Part List - Intel Core i5-13600KF, Radeon RX 7900 XTX, Phanteks Eclipse G360A ATX Mid Tower
What’s the 7800X3D on par with compared to Intel?
Legit?
Tops out even 13900K lol
Part List - Intel Core i7-13700KF, Phanteks Eclipse G360A ATX Mid Tower
NGL I feel stupid
Wanted to give it a try
It's part of the learning experience
Then again cutting back on the CPU seems better for a gaming build
It's not really cutting back
13600K already has a ton of cores
And 7800X3D is very gaming focused
You'd think, but modern high end GPUs are actually hitting CPU bottlenecks at 1440p ultra
Really???
Bros getting 13700kf and 7900xtx for warthunder at 1080p
Nah someone else was doing a $2,000 gaming build
Was a little baffled you still chose that over any other AM5 board
Cuz cheep and good
I usually prefer the expandability of B650/E but that's preference
But looking at it objectively it's actually decently built
tbf the A620 still has two m.2 slots anyway
Emough for gaming uses
And one usb-c
What’s the cheapest AM5 board with PCIe gen 5?
All am5 has pcie 5
Wait nah nvm
A620 has no pcie gen 5
But does it even matter
4090 ain't saturating 4.0 x16
I hate having to think about the future
If AM4 was cheaper by a noticeable amount I’d probably be doing that RN
Nah
Still way more than enough bandwidth for future gpus
Wait what, the A620 pro rs wifi has 3 m.2 slots for ssds?
wtf
Wait really?
$129 board with 3 slots
Where’s the 3rd LMAO
On the back iirc
I saw one with it on the back.
Horribly inconvenient.
The corner is that pcie 3.0 slot
That sounds horrid I was gonna say
Asrock being so based rn
eh
And the 7600 beats it
^
It does?
yap
By a lot lol
which one is this
just went to get isopropyl all over everything and screw up rags
ASRock A620M Pro RS
damn I use an ASRock B450M Pro 4; no Wi-Fi but I have an ASUS brand antenna to match
ASRock has been pretty good for me
My first and only GPU is ASRock
5700 non-XT
Asrock got tired of being the budget brand everyone avoided and started actually putting in an effort to improve these last couple years
I'm confused how a $129 board with wifi has heatsink for vrms, and 3 m.2 slots
Hey they make good budget stuff now
I’m hoping to snag a 6700 XT brand new for $320
Or around that
There’s a discount RN for the ASRock one
I’m probably gonna have to lowball my non-XT 5700 by a mile if I wanna get rid of it
Asrock has been hitting hard lately
Z790 for 179
A620 for 129 that's packed with stuff
AM5 CPUs do have 24 lanes now so it kinda makes sense since A620 only gives 8
If that board was in all black I’d be in love
ye I get that
24 lanes on cpu is plenty for everything installed plus a gpu
And 8 that's on chipset
It's surprising that they're actually USING all the 32 available lanes yeah
I paid $170 for a non-XT 5700 and now I’m living with that mistake
I’d hope I could get rid of it for that on r/hardwareswap
I got someone that wants to buy my 12100F for $65 shipped
To be fair if I can sell it for more than scrap parts I’m happy
Would a CX650M be a good overclocking PSU?
CX is C tier
For stuff on AM3/FM2+
Awesome
At least I don’t gonna trash that
I have no clue what I’m gonna do with my motherboard or RAM as well as case
B660M DS3H is garbage
16GB of DDR4 is dirt cheap too
cheap gigglebit garbo as always
Pretty much
I’m fine with that
scraping for 6700xt
I was probably gonna donate it or something if I can’t get rid of it
At this point yeah LMAO
Could a CPU running out of PCie lanes be the reason why the GPU doesn’t work?
I’m curious how capable the iGPU on 7600 is
trash
No it'll just drop the GPU to x8 mode
it's just to get by as a display output
I mean is it enough for TF2?
That’s all I need to hear
Because I’m using 5 Gen4 M.2s and was hoping maybe that’s why the gpu won’t work
I mean to be completely fair I’ve seen people run War Thunder on mobile 8th gen i5’s

CPU: AMD ...
Ultra low quality
Time to get my TF2 game back on
Don't forget indie games. Most of them will run on it very well too.
@obsidian wigeon my machine is 10x faster with the memory upgrade
Zero crashes as well
Nice, grats on your gains
Deep Rock Galactic I would assume so
Haven’t touched that game in a bit
I feel like I’m not completely inept with computers now after my crash course
Seems like amd doesn't wanna say the exact igp model that am5 cpus has
Although I still have no idea what settings to run in game
But it's capable of running val at 80+ fps 1080p low
Are there any War Thunder benchmarks?
digging around rn
Ight, no worries if not
But I mean
Even UHD 630 runs it smoothly lmao
I can't find bench vids of the game with the cpu, but I don't doubt it being able to do WT
Yeah it’s a game that has ultra low quality settings from 2013
They've done an engine overhaul since then tho
That’s true
Still though
Still ticked they’ve broken a lot of the mechanics though
I wonder how many fps I'd get at 1080p low
I will forever wonder why I spend so much to play games that probably aren’t even newer than 2015
On my 5700 well over 300
I get 180 on movie settings 1080p
You'd be the first to test AM5 desktop igp on war thunder lmao
I'm curious as to how it will do now
I've got an overclocked 5800X so I'd guess either 350 or whatever the engine cap is
I’m gonna be completely honest I abuse ultra low quality
Gets rid of the stupid foliage
So much more clear
Completely forgot some games have capacity limit
This is a legitimate strategy used by pros
Seems stupid
Or just render distance max foliage off
I learned from the pros
They need to fix the tender issues
I’ve seen people die so many times because WT wouldn’t let their 3090 Ti render something like ten kilometers out
I think the engine needs another rehaul
Fortnite in performance mode gets over 140 fps
Physics and rendering in general RN are extremely inconsistent
What’s the point of a game engine capacity?
Why limit someone
It's usually physics engine limit
When they design the game engine, it's only capable of running so many frames without dying
^
My new reshade preset that does not use depth buffer while still looking epic. And it uses only 0.125 ms cpu and 0.500ms gpu. There's little to none fps hit.
Video recording might look bit laggy and that's because of the bot overhaul mod.
Looking at this wiki and several posts made online, it's safe to use for multiplayer ? I'm not responsible ...
Probably explains why TF2 wasn’t even utilizing 1% CPU
Engine limit on old games are also stupidly low
Valorant at 1080p low gets around 300 fps
Are there any benchmarks for the 6700 XT on Source 2 engine games like Half Life Alyx?
There definitely are
I mean who didn’t have a potato PC back in 2009?
I was a console gamer then lol, 30 fps for lyfe
You either had a console or a crap pc
I had both somewhat
That's the early 2000's for ya
It was more so of a half taped together laptop
I installed Halo on a school computer. I had no expectations on how well it would run but that little Pentium iGPU did surprisingly well.
This was around...2009 I think
PC gaming kinda changed how I looked at things since how it runs really varies across different desktops or laptops
I only got my first laptop in like 2013
And it was a ripoff lmao
My mom didn't know better back then
For console you kinda expect the same for you know the rest of the consoles
Ouch
i3 2310M when Haswell was already out
Ah the mistakes of youth
I have a PGA Sandy Bridge i3 laying around
Unsure what to do with it, played Minecraft a lot on that
The cpu is still with me
Were GPU’s common to see in laptops at the time?
My first laptop was a gift with money pooled from multiple relatives. The only somewhat tech savvy one picked the laptop. They said they chose it because it was the only one in budget that had a dedicated GPU. It had a Radeon HD 4250 Mobile from 2008. This was in 2011. Adn the laptop runs to this day, I've been considering upgrading the processor again because it's actually socketed lol.
Oh that’s awesome
It runs to this day, I use it when I go to a friend's house to play DnD
The glory days before AMD bought them and sold off their fab
Just for AMD to stay alive lol
Had it not been because of consoles, they wouldn't have been around with AM5
The thing came with a single core processor but I upgraded to a dual core a couple years later. It can go up to a quad core.
When I was thinking about building my first PC I was constantly going back and forth between if I wanna build a desktop or get gaming laptop since I wasn’t too confident at the time
Was it perhaps equipped with turion?
It's got a Turion now yeah
Or just some Intel Core 2 Solo or something
Was extremely close to paying $600 for a 1050 Ti and 10400H
Ah
It originally had a V520
Expected, all AMD laptops were like common
Especially cheaper end
Well AMD+ATi
I want to bench my laptop for hwbot points since no one has my turion on there, but that would require installing windows and my GPU does NOT like that idea.
Nope it's just that radeon hd
I wish I could experience Windows 7 and Google’s old style again
2008 indeed
Intel was the only first to do that
GMA whatever crap
Graphics Media Accelerator, only capable of just that, running media
You can. Windows 7 still runs fine on modern hardware and you can use certain websites that use archived versions of old sites like Google.
Games are out of question
Really?
Hmmm
It even struggles with HL1 for god's sake
Yeah, I mean it’s probably obvious
But a lot of people have gone for the oversimplified look
Can’t believe my brother still sometimes thinks his email is still Hotmail
My email IS still hotmail though
Old internet has some vibe of nostalgia
my email is also hotmail
My email is gmail
He made it when he signed up for Xbox Live I’m pretty sure
You can type hotmail.com and it'll take you to your inbox
My first email was also gmail, but I lost it
I made mine because a spy kids game online required registration
lmao
i don't remember exactly what prompted me to make my email
but i think it was because i saw my dad using hotmail and i went on and made my account as well
When I was younger I thought having an email was some pristine thing
I’m serious, like I thought it was on the level of getting your own credit card
Then again I was stupid at the time
getting a credit card is prestigious?
They can be a tool if you know how to use em
Valid
Ez refunds when problems happens with purchases
Chargebacks doesn't care about what where you purchased says
You get "your" money back
aka credit balance
When problems happens?
Like when you bought something but didn't get it as described
But the shop, retail or whatever refuses to refund
You can issue a chargeback
Ohhhh
I’ve been considering doing a monthly installment on a GPU TBH
It’s like $15-$20 a month
No clue
U cant unless u do it under someone over 18s name
I can just get my brother to do it
I would only finance something like a whole laptop
My bank had a stupid spending limit on my card so I usually have to pay someone else to order something for me
What’s the gpu everyone wants these days?
4090 ti ain't out yet smh
Both are wonky
The Nvidia brainwashing is kicking in
As for xtx yeah it's $959 rn for cheapest one
Still contemplating if I wanna get a figurine to put into my PC case
I’ve seen quite a few people do that
Adds a little character to people’s builds
All I want rn is just a better laptop cri
I’m starting to think my eyeballs wouldn’t even be able to tell the difference
I wish I had that money
For the most part yeah
It’s more resolution people care for
I want something with like 1050 tbf
Cuz am desperate
1050 will still be huge upgrade
What do yall do for work?
I don't really have a job rn
I think Floppa posted a 1050 Ti laptop that’s used on eBay for $250
Concrete during the Summer and snow removal in the Winter
And then the side farm work
This explains a lot
I’ve been pouring so much money into my truck I would’ve had my PC done by now
Fixing it up?
problem is society wants you to have a good credit score
The truck that is
Mostly yeah
don't, only finance a car or house at most, don't finance a computer
I’m gonna scrap if it it needs another trip to the workshop
311,000 miles on a snow plow truck hurts
@obsidian wigeon why not use all this tech knowledge to make cash?
I can't
Geek squad?
Dad thinks I'd waste money flipping pcs lol
It’s a hard thing to pull off
I woulda been a crew to some tech place had I not been disabled
is there even best buy in thailand
Oh dang you’re young?
That’s pretty young
Just disabled so I can't work normal jobs
Very
Good chunk of us here are in the 18-20 range
I imagined you late 30s early 40s
lol nah
Along w everyone else i was talking to
By then I would definitely be having a job
My dad keeps telling me to get a good education so I don’t break my back before I turn 30 pouring concrete
But like all the men in my family is essentially high school dropouts
All ended up doing manual labor
I’m still curious what a tech career would look like
pain
Yeah, people can be demanding to say the least
I’ve been rewatching silicon valley
not just demanding, just unable to follow basic instructions
Seems pretty sad
people seem to be incapable of following a list of instructions in an email
they do one step and email back, and....

It's a good time to get into programming or networking, but bad time for most other fields in computers
Soooo many layoffs at tech giants rn
Aws
I don’t understand some people when they say you should find a job you enjoy
You can learn a programming language in 3 months and use stack exchange snippets to supplement any knowledge you might be missing
Like I feel it defeats the purpose of it being fun if it’s work
It ain’t work if you find it fun
(sometimes less than 3 months depending)
Find a job that makes the most money for least work
The most advanced stuff they teach here is HTML
Retire early then do what you want
There's free online courses if you want something structured, but self teaching isn't too hard
I’m still tryna figure out overclocking on AM3 and FM2+
harvard's programming courses are free on youtube
Just learn to code, can’t do much career wise with overclocking
I’m not the fastest when it comes to picking up on things
Tell that to hicookie
Doesn’t mean you shouldn’t try

How do you even test this stuff?
Then ripping your hair out troubleshooting
^
I feel like if I wanna officially call myself someone who enjoys tech I should know the basics of overclocking on a certain platform
Or coding
He was doing insane things overclocking, breaking records of professionals, and Gigabyte hired him to overclock for a living
Oh damn
It's essentially a face for the company
"Look our product can push this fastest!"
We had a guy who lived in my town who got hired by Bungie to test Halo games like a decade back
i'm not an overclocker, but i'm still enjoying tech
Still kinda jealous
Game tester sounds like a fun job
Let alone for actually good games
Well until you have to sit hours on end finding glitches and issues lmao
Back when Bungie developed Halo
It's not really gaming tbh
It can get fun, but probably mundane some days
Yeah let's get jobs at CDPR, never a dull moment there!
Eyyy my Polish finally will be useful
I’m a little be curious about the process behind designing CPU’s and GPU’s
Sand
It looks like it’s all done under a microscope
It's from very pure sand
Which is exactly why all their game testers said "F it" and stopped reporting more than their minimum quota of bugs. And then we got CP2077.
"BAD GAEM I KILL YOU"
Though I’m NGL there are some funny Steam reviews on games
No cases of that actually happened but imagine waking up to that every morning
While your boss is overworking you
regular microscopes ain't going to cut it
also it's done in software nowadays
Interesting
ye
in fact, most circuit designs are done in software
CAD designs and stuff
I wonder what would happen to the progression of technology without that software
Software can do simulations
it would be developed eventually
More so with invent of AI
prior to using software, they probably were drafting it on paper
I’m not gonna lie post apocalyptic movies and games genuinely make me think
Like, would you rather be alive in a crumbling world or just be dead
if society was destroyed, like back in the post-roman times, we would have quite a while till we get back to where we are today, especially if all the people who have the knowledge are gone, and the records are also gone
also yeah surviving an apocalapse is near nil zero
Thrice Upon A Time in the NGE rebuild series was really interesting
Really had me thinking about how much of a desire people have to rebuild society
It’s been a hot minute since I’ve went pure camping
I like apocalypse games but not living in it
I get grumpy without proper AC
Dying Light is so good
Who wouldn’t
Actually without it being exactly 72
72 way too hot
Those types of games just really get me thinking
Maybe I over think things
rn I'm just playing contraband police game
But it seems like such a grim outlook when society still attempts to live
In a world where a civil society has been abolished
That’s true LMAO
I’ll give you three GT 1030’s for one RTX 3090
ungabunga
Bargaining
bartering*
Close enough
pretty diff tbh
I’m a little eepy, woke up at 2:00 AM today band it’s like 11:00 PM now
I gotta work tomorrow I just realized

Would it be worth doing monthly installments for a Google Pixel 6a?
no, just buy it if you have the money
I’m dirt poor because stuff is stupid RN
if your phone still works, no point
Overthrow the top 1%
Little Caesars and water LMAO
Give it to the bottom 50
Meh, if I get an Android I’d be able to save money by calling on wifi and such
My iPhone 8 is falling apart
Why are all you tech geniuses also poor?
spent all our money
Addiction on tech
It’s a cycle
You buy new stuff, new stuff becomes old because newer stuff comes so you sell your old stuff to buy the new stuff
Gotta save it like jeff bezos
also if you really need a phone (tbh best to get it before the phone fully fails) borrow some money from your parents to buy it in full at once rather than use financing
Man I wish it were that easy
Yeah I could get a loan and pay them back
$300 seems decent for only a year old flagship Android
Brand new too
not flagship
Well
midrange kinda
It's a midranger
Samsung IG really has most of the flagship stuff
6A has always been the cheaper Pixel
pixel 6 was the flagship of 2 years ago, pixel 6a was the midrange of 1 year ago, and pixel 7 was the flagship of this year
of last year*
Well Pixel A anyway
this year would be pixel 8 afaik
There's now pixel 8 pro
I can't fully call em flagship due to them using their own soc with last gen perf
iPhone gets on my nerves because I need a stupid pair of earbuds or an adapter both of which I don’t have
Maybe consider looking at stuff like Samsung S FE
Apple just sucks overall
I do like my pixel 6 a lot
They're the more enthusiast focused phones
OLED is the best feature imo
How much are those?
Around $200-300
I really don’t wanna spend too much
Killer
Or at least refurb
I might be able to pick one up at Walmart maybe
Nah Amazon has it
Like a thirty minute drive though so I’d better check online
I doubt walmart has older models
Hmmm yeah
