most rgb aios i've seen that have rgb on the block can daisy chain the fan rgb with the pump rgb

3 +3 on a dasiy chain should only use 2 headers?
But his case and aio?
wait
I'll try to take this thing out
nono
yes you will need an additional controller then
In fact you could potentially chain the aio to the end of 3 fans, then the case to the end of 3 other fans
720mm aio frfr
And relegate that need
are there not power limits for something like that?
Yes 80 lights is max what I'd recommend
i'm running 14 argb devices on 2 headers, used to be 15
What fans are they
i have an active powered splitter though lol
Not that it should really matter unless it's like, SL infinities as the only one with more than like 16 lights
the data isn't a problem to daisy chain a ton, the power is
wait
@verbal plover which fans have you got
kinda glad i spent the extra money on those lian li fans that just snap together and use 1 cable for all of them
the top of the controller thing had a 2 pin LED SW in it
amperage limit, assume any unspecified headers are 1A
deepcool fc120
You're fine
Daisy chain the case light to the end of the 3 fans if you can
And the aio to the end of the other 3 fans
your board doesn't mention amperage of the rgb headers so assume 1A limit per header
Otherwise use the rgb controller from your old case
You will be quite far from the rgb header limit actually with fc120
Let alone FoS limits with over current
alright I'll try this

If you can avoid using the controller it makes the back of this case so much nicer to work with
not to mention you'll probably have to tape it LOL
Yeah or some random screw hole
molex doesn;t have any connectors in the mobo
so that's just leaave connected to the psu
right
Ye
felix do you know what time it is
it's time for me to open up another free chinese psu

huh

there are two sockets for vhpwr but they only give you one cable
they are very generous with the cable ties lol
80+ gold? Not even 95
also love the addition of non daisy chained pcie cables
Maybe if one socket fails??
can't imagine wanting to continue using the psu after something failed on it
See over on the right
bruh is this PSU glued shut
I undid all the screws and I can't take the cover off lol
nvm got it loose with pry tools lol
Yeah that kinda looks like it
Two slots probably for the future Incase Nvidia has a GPU that uses 2x12VHPWR cables.
@cyan ravine ❤️
.....
Also Kingpin 3090 ti
Does HoF even use all that power?!
It can under LN2
That's 1200w rating.
NVM now it makes sense.
ok so
But like in realistic use.
gpu came with 4 8 pin to 12 pin cable, what this for
You don't buy a Hall of Fame card without trying to get into the hall of fame
It's SUPER expensive
Does any card actually make use of 2x12vhpwr without exotic cooling such as ln2.
Does any card make use of one without subzero cooling?
Sure sure the 4090 has a 650W limit, but it doesn't hit it because of voltage limits
True.
4090 are very voltage limited.
I wonder if 4090ti will also be voltage limited if they release it.
Or the titan.
It's the same chip as the 4090 but fully unlocked
So yes?
The 4090 is actually cut down
Ik.
It'll still be voltage limited then yes
Rumors are saying 4090Ti is 142 of 144 SMs. Might make it the first generation we've had in a long time with no full die card
Ahh I see. I thought the ti would be full unlocked and no voltage limit.
Is the voltage limit to prevent frying the chip?
More SMs means more current is required not really more voltage. So 4090Ti could be PL limited
Would be a fun project for me to work on in the future to make myself a self sustainable PC using solar panels.
Especially if it draws 800w+ active use.
Setup a big battery and a few panels to keep it fed.
You'd need a fair few panels on your roof to do that off grid style
Especially since most of the time you're not at 100% efficiency
Unfortunately so.
See that cooler fan? Flip it 180 and you can hide the cable
Looks great tho
I've heard 4090 Ti is the same 600W
They tried 800W and the pcb literally melted
Yeah but the 4090 usually doesn't break 450W, 500W at most, so a 650W limit would still make it voltage limited because it's not 30% more cores
4090 can spike much higher
well, finished poking around inside the new psu
Depends on the load but yeah, it's a spike
What's limiting them from just making a giant pcb with like 30k cores?
can't really see too many things of interest inside tbh
Not a sustained
Spikes sure but they don't account for that in the TDP
i'll probably upgrade my main rig to it just because it has non daisy chained pcie cables
I know heat is a issue but what else is limiting them?
Die size
yields
Silicon quality, pcb space, die size, leakage
Yields far better way to say silicon quality
Cooler size, atx spec
they say they'll have more products for me to review in the future
woohoo more free power supplies
Aren't they able to to make a large die and use the same like TSMC 2nm tech?
You also have the architecture layout
They're already pushing the limits on die size. Next gen is likely MCM like AMD did.
The die is mapped to run at certain configurations
Mcm is multiple GPUs working together right?
You add more it's essentially the same as making a whole new architecture
Oh.
Think of it like the blueprint
It's made to run like X, with X transistors, y cuda, z tensor, xx l2 cache etc etc
Multi Chip Module
The compute cores on RDNA 3 are separate from the IO die, and the IO die is a cheaper process node. This increases yields dramatically and reduces costs.
All working together
Just throwing more in is something they've actively been working towards in the industry
And by changing one thing you:d have to change the rest right?
Think I got the basics now.
Didn't Nvidia make a promise to accomplish MCM by like 2025?
I remember a little bit of chatter about mcm.
It's only leaks I'm aware of
Cos AMD's MCM has worked extremely well out of the gate
What exactly is mcm?
For rdna 3
Is it multiple computers working together?
Granted they had ryzen before, but cpus are a different beast

What's the io die?
Input Output
The die that communicates with everything
So the brain?
Sure
Frontal lobe maybe
And the compute cores are the muscle to do the lifting?
The MCM approach is the way to beat the "can't we make a bigger die?" Problem
Lots of little dies working as one united unit
Uniting units united
Roughly understand. I unfortunately need to sleep now got work tomorrow. Would appreciate if you guys would teach me more about mcm tomorrow though. I've had a fun time learning.
😄

Mmm something wrong
Everything turn on correctly in the computer
Nothin wrong
No burn smell or anything
But I am not getting any signal on the monitor
And since I already turn it on the comp is prob in the bios and I don’t want to turn it off might it brake because of it
mine was removed
I tried both the gpu and the mobo
Any debug leds?
Typically right side of the mobo, any lights light up?
There’s some text next to that light or there should be. Any chance you can see it?
Looks like your boot led is on, check your drives and make sure they are properly connected
What are your system specs?
seems like os just isn't installed
:////
But I am simply not getting any display
I thought I would get to see the mobo
Leave it be for a bit like 10 minutes after a boot
^
It’s been 30 min
Turn it off and do cmos reset
Case power button
Hold it down until it turns off
Do something like this after you turn it off
Wouldn’t this require taking everything out
No
It won't
But it depends on the placement, but it's usually just gpu needs to come out
Maybe just the gpu, sometimes the button battery will be under it
not all mobos have a cmos drain prong though
This one seems like it doesn’t
Yeah, but the coin batts are always usually under the gpu
:/
Don’t have to redo any wiring, just pop out the gpu 👍
Lol

sometimes a restart solves a problem
That's fine
Idle means nothing
Unless it's idling at like 80c lol
Then something is terribly wrong
Also the wifi thin
I need to plug the anthenas in the back of the mobo and that’s it right
That needs antennas to be screwed into the back
Yeah
Might have to install drivers once you're in windows
#build-pics message anyone know what aio is that?
Is not galahad 360, because galahad dont have lcd
aio fans are tho
there's galahad with lcd
An outstanding All-In-One CPU cooler. Primarily intended to enhance your system's performanceAvailable in two size two color, 240mm and 360mm, black and white. Supplies with ARGB high static pressure fan with a variable speed of 800 to 1900 RPM, can operate in PWM or DC mode, and have a rated airflow of 69.17 CFM.Mounting with a finish look and ...
the site shows two variant
hm doesn't looks like lcd
well that's something else then
That why, because i never see galahad to screen something else
There are small magnetic screens you can buy supposedly
Waaaath, that is new for me
But there’s no wire coming off of that, maybe it’s a different aio
everything working but fans not turning on
or its not detecting them or something
Double check the connection, install os check software
Ok this Msi bios is kinda complicated
I have the usb connected
On top and with the blue light already
Ah there should be some sort of boot order, you might need to put the usb in front of any other boot drives, also just throw it in the motherboard directly
Then whenever your ready restart the pc through the exit button top right
Uh
Give it a second and then try again I guess, it should be able to just see the usb as a boot device
Imma give it 5 mins, If it doesn't turn off and sent picture
So I can be more clear
bruah
I turned it off
And now I turn it on again and now there is the window install
:V
Okay I forgot the place
but where is the place to get the windows key for cheap
we cant really say where due to rules

Why does it keep blackscreening every time the computer restarts
Memory training and stuff it’s normal don’t think too hard about it
Well I’m surely not turning it off again because it said restarting to install window
Them restarted
Now black screen
Patience
Imma go ahead and do the 3 midterms I totally didn’t do due to my chad time management
One small question could the blackscreening be cause due to the fact that I have both the hdmi and displaport connected, one in the mobo and the other one in the gpu
https://youtu.be/xhHtHMQygzE watch this, should answer most if not all your questions if you have any

At this point the only isssue is the wifi
If you’re having trouble with drivers you might need to just plug into the Ethernet jack on your router directly, after that should be fine to use Wi-Fi
Hi
I want to get a i7 13th gen and was wondering if I need an aio or can I get a fan cooler
A beefy air cooler can work if you're just gaming
AIO is recommended for lower temps, lower noise, better performance, etc
The new egg site doesn’t have that many white aios
Or it is hard for me to navigate on my phone since my computer decided to produce magic smoke
Lian Li Galahad
The MSI coolers have a mass recall that's ongoing right now due to severe clogging issues

If it has to be newegg that's the one to get
The best AIO for 12th/13th gen Intel period.
And the infinity mirror is a nice addition
That one I can’t find on new egg
That is rgb

I want it to look like that
Is it? I thought it had white fans
i love seeing all the O11D knockoffs out there lol
Yea that one is nice
What's your budget and what's your use for the pc
2400
Again don’t hate me, but league
Alr
I dont find Lian Li Galahad SL 240mm Black on my country x.x I want to match all part and right now I have case and fans from Lian Li but miss that AIO x.x
And some rust
And discord. And research
But I want something that makes me happy to look at
why we dont have Newegg on Europa x.x
@cyan ravine I am sorry for bothering you
Oh no I'm making the list it's ok
But on the site, I am on the building my pc portion and i search deeepcool
And this is all I get
Do you need wifi and a monitor
What resolution are the msi curved monitors
I also want to know can I use my hard drive and ssd from my old pc?
That was a pre build
You'll get to reuse them, but what resolution and hz are the monitors
What y?
They work
Are you trolling me now, I’m paranoid now. On your suggestions.
No no, for this budget, you want better monitors or the pc is too fast for them
So you won't get to use the performance of the pc cos the fps is far beyond what the monitors can do
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/mYj7xs
With this ram
https://a.co/d/3tpjFaJ
With these extensions
https://www.amazon.com/AsiaHorse-Sleeved-Extension-Connector-Combs-White/dp/B0B56LHGRC/ref=mp_s_a_1_2_sspa
And this hub
https://www.coolermaster.com/catalog/coolers/rgb-accessories/masterfan-argb-and-pwm-hub/
The new MasterFan ARGB and PWM HUB is capable of connecting up to 6 sets of Addressable RGB (3-pin) headers and PWM headers simultaneously. It enables users to expand cooling capability and enjoy greater system performance. Its small and compact design allows you to control your PWM ARGB fans in high efficiency while still can keep your cables...
Granted, we can make something much better if you wanted to focus on *performance over aesthetics, but if you didn't want the new monitor then I can change the build because without a new monitor you'll probably only use like, 40-50% of what the pc could actually do when gaming
And this is league of all things so it'd be more like, 20%
You could probably do a big 4K screen just fine
There's also this screen @sinful prawn
https://pcpartpicker.com/product/TxddnQ/gigabyte-m27q-x-270-2560-x-1440-240-hz-monitor-m27q-x
Might help a lot for league
250 hella nice
fr

that was around christmas
I don’t want screens,
I want to spend that just on the pc
I think my screens are fine
Alright we can tailor the system to run off your current screens
Otherwise you're paying for performance you couldn't use
Just cause it’s not 4k?
Cos they're 1080p yes
We're not super elitist like some other communities that will not be named, but if you've encountered them you know.
You're free to enjoy what you like. You're not required to buy the latest CoD and only play that. I personally enjoy simulator games.
Yes that seems to be the general consensus , you want to see the mother board I picked
I really don’t know what to do, I bought my pc 4 years ago it was i9 9900k it should still be working
I had a rtx2070
I wonder if I can just share my list
That should still work for 1080p yeah
It's expensive for no benefit, there are cheaper white motherboards that look good
Part List - Intel Core i5-12600KF, Radeon RX 6750 XT, Lian Li O11 Dynamic Mini Snow Edition ATX Mid Tower
I’m really scared of the magic smoke
You won't get magic smoke
Z690/z790 are all very much built to extremes where, in maybe a couple boards at most, can't handle the best chips
Assrock boards 💀
This list is overkill btw, we're already going to be over the 1080p 144hz hurdle for your screens
What, gigabyte?
There aren't many if any at all good white gpus at this price bracket
It has a silver back so it's actually mostly silver
Ye
Well I can pick another
$100 on fans 😅
Price won't be anywhere good though
I don't think I've spent that on fans in my lifetime
Is that bad?
For 6 fans it's not great but not as bad as it could be
White fans do cost more and I'm guessing they were picked to match the AIO
They're cheaper than the RGB p12's
Kekw
Part List - Intel Core i5-12600KF, Radeon RX 6700 XT, Lian Li O11 Dynamic Mini Snow Edition ATX Mid Tower
If you don't like this gpu then it'll start being a case of horribly overpaying for a white one

@cyan ravine
Hey your soo helpful! Thank you soo much. I was wondering if maybe you can help with one more thing
ASRock Motherboard (Z390M PRO4)
That is the old mb is there anyway you can find that for me not from china?
You had a 9900k in that?
That is way beyond me man sorry, you'll have to comb used sites
Why is Radeon soo More cheaper? It can’t just be a brand thing, can it?
Because people don't understand radeon
Yes
For the same performance you often pay like, 20-30% less
Oof
AMD is also willing to take a slightly smaller profit margin
That explains the smoke
Ok recap, give me 2 minutes

Note this all down
That particular ram is from a random brand but it is actually some solid B die, some of the best ram money can buy, and it goes on the cheap
The hub will connect the fans up
And the extensions will make the build look clean
Hope this all helps
Do you trust it?
For an aesthetics first build we did ok, AND, if you decide to upgrade to 1440p later, you can throw in that 4070 Ti we looked at, no problems
I think the bot is down but we do have a "no swearing" rule, certain minor ones are allowed but not the big 4 letter ones
Did I swear?
Twice now
Lol yeah
Thank you soo much, do you trust this
I mean we aren't bothered by swearing, but it's a public discord lol
Oh what did I say?
Yeah the store looks reputable, good reviews
First was a F, second was a S
I did not
I can DM you the log if you want to see
Don't worry too much about it, just try not to
Okay thank you
Well it seems the bot went down hard because even our logging stopped...
Guess I'll just have to be extra vigilant tonight
Can I use a 750 watt power supply on that z390 ?
Yeah, you could use any really. The board doesn't decide that.
I changed the ps on the old pc and I cut the 650 watt I had I regret that now
Anyways thanks guys
I mean it
Happy to help

Finally got my gpu vertically mounted (the stock 4000D gpu mount was far too close to the glass so used a cooler master V3 gpu mount to space it back. Got like 1mm from my gpu and the front fans lol)
Is that the 4070 ti Msi gpu?
I think that’s the one I was looking at
Can you control the lights on it?
its actually a 3080 LHR its a chonky gpu but you use msi center to control the rgb so not a whole lot of controll sadly
so like
when i run xtu benchmark thing my cpu instantly thermal throttles
but the temperatures during all other times are fine
me confuse
It hits it with a moderately heavy all core workload
Basically worst case scenario
So nothing to worry about?
Nope no worries
Thank you! Your pc is really cool!
I woke up to this....
(I had to use link as it wouldn't send the pic for some reason)
what the hell happened there
Brother has a desktop resting against a monitor that's sitting on top of another monitor, that's on top of a laptop
Are you sure that your brother is completely sane?
No. No I'm not
Hi there - I'm attempting to put together a system with some specific requirements and having a challenging time ensuring that I am selecting compatible components. Would anyone know if there's someone, or some service out there that I could access that could help me with an order?
I could
What is your budget, country, and use case
Do you need wifi or are you going to use ethernet
And do you care about looks, if so do you have a specific aesthetic you're looking for?
@rustic linden
alright i limited the power draw so it doesn't thermal throttle
Amazing! Thank you. I'll pull the details together.
Here are the details. Much appreciated for any insights or comments, it's been ages since I've had to pull specs together. Budget: Under 7K CAD
Use case: Work (though this would be incredible for recreation!!! One day maybe…)
- Graphics intensive: CAD, GIS software, analytics processing etc.
-
Remote Teaching: interactive whiteboarding -
Mobile: workstation will be primarily stationary in office, but there will be frequent site visits to client offices for short term assignments (hence laptop and portable screen). -
Connectivity: LAN in office, wifi on the road
- Laptop
- CPU: 10 cores
- Storage: 32 GB (SSD) or more
- Memory/RAM: 64 GB or more
- Dedicated GPU: 8 GB or more
- Screen resolution: 1080p or higher
- ? Maybe: MSI Vector GP76 12UHSO-893
-
? Maybe: ThinkPad P16 Intel (16”) Mobile Workstation
- Dual Monitors: min 22”
- Nothing special
- Docking station
- Compatible for dual monitors, and touchscreen
- Portable Touchscreen Monitor ($500)
-
? Maybe: ViewSonic TD1655
Where I was losing confidence was compatibility between graphics card, 3 additional monitors and docking station. Plus trying to find deals...
Docking station?
Most gpu support at least 3 screens
I have an exam so I can't answer now
It might be worth it to just get a desktop for primary use and a nice laptop for portability at that budget
But I dont know how strong you need it for the mobile part
If you end up going purely laptop, obvious choice is 4090 for gpu
I dont really know much about current gen mobile cpus, but some variation of the 13900 or whatever the high end amd mobile cpus are named
@obsidian wigeon you know more about laptops than I do
Hm, well this would easily fit the best laptop lol
And a few monitors

This is the cheapest 4090 laptop I could find
Comes with 32 gigs of ram and 2tb of ssd
Any docking station with thunderbolt would work for multi monitor
Or you can use hdmi, displayport and thunderbolt to dp or hdmi for three monitors
@rustic linden If you also don't want to plug any monitors into the laptop, this dock would work with a thunderbolt 4 cable connected to the laptop https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0BQJWKBMF?tag=i0914a-20
The Thunderbolt Certified 16-in-1 Quad docking station from Plugable delivers peak performance. The innovation starts with our display connections. Connect your 4K screens through 2x HDMI ports and 2x DisplayPort ports - a rare level of display flexibility in a Thunderbolt dock. But the real expa...
Not sure if it's available on canadian amazon, but you can look it up
Any of y'all have any experience with custom loops?
I'm wanting to go a mix of hard and soft tube. Not sure how bad that would be
oh yeah btw how important is data integrity and stability for this (professional lineup of gpus, ecc RAM, etc), and are you able to get your company to subsidize some of the cost (or is your current budget the budget your company gave you?
also btw CAD and GIS aren't particularly gpu intensive, they tend to use more cpu perf and ram
would highly recommend either going purely hard tubing or purely soft tubing. a mix will look goofy
if it's your first custom loop, use soft tubing
I want to go hard tube, but there'll be a few spots that are short distance and where one fitting would be at a higher elevation than the other
I plan to use hard tube and 90° fittings as needed
no bends?
I don't trust myself for bends tbh.
I might buy a spare set of tubes to practice on.
If I like it, I can always return the 90° fittings
How saggy are the soft tubes? I have a CPU aio and they're pretty saggy
you should be fine as long as you pressure test the loop after you finish to make sure nothing pops out and/or leaks
noticably at least
with less slack, then it sags less (obv) but def noticeable when you compare them to hard tubing
I thought about going soft because it'd be easier to take apart. But the sag....
well, this is for "straight" runs with soft tubing
if you're doing bends with soft tubing, it's less noticeable
Got yah
I might still buy a extra set of hard just to practice bends on
The other part of soft that's making me wanna stay away are kinks in the tubing
Kinks and twists
for example. a run like this with soft tubing will absolutely sag (even if slightly shorter)
but with the bitwit pink build, that one has bends and such, which means people aren't expecting something perfectly straight
as long as your bend radius is wide enough, it won't kink
Here's what I'm eating to water cool
I'm gonna be replacing the radiator in the CPU aio as well as the soft tubes
got damn that gpu sag
Yeah....
I got a sag mount installed rn
I lost it for a good bit, but it's in there now
if you worry about aesthetics, fishing line tied to the top of the case and the corner of the gpu will also help support it (just make sure it isn't touching the fan or something hot)
ah so that's an old image i see
I'm not really. Not for the gpu
I used to run an external GPU via a vertical mount and two pcie extensions
Week old
external gpu?
A Asus Cerberus 1050ti outside the case
And I have the pcie extension cables that go from the motherboard to the GPU, two of them
And then I had it mounted to a vertical mount
lmao
Best pic I have, but yeah
Strix is big sad having 2/3 of bottom fans blocked.
lmao
install the driver
The crew 2 gold edition
i cant from the NVIDIA app
so
press next ?
its say field to install
DDU (Display Driver Uninstaller) Guide by Pato
https://github.com/NeweggTechie/Graphics-cards/wiki/How-to-use-DDU
Theoretically I could switch my GPU and the nvme raid card...
then try to install driver again
Plus, I'm going liquid cooling soon so...
I have gpu block on the way
Nice. Can't unsee the blocked fans is all, lol.
I mean...I have 9 fans so....
Been debating going down to 6
Here's the flow chart I wanna do
Where's your exhaust?
It's all exhaust
It all looks like intake 💀
Fan nose pulls
no exhaust
Fan tail pushes
your diagram looks wacky
wait oh this is a custom loop plan.... right?
Mhmm
Top and rear. Bottom is intake
Might be getting rid of rear tho
Keep in mind that pic is from the Asus website. So the fan facing is not what I'll be doing
Oh looked like they where all intake by your arrows, why not use the side?
Side is where my sata SSD is
Sata ssd can go anywhere
I'm honestly thinking of replacing it with a 2TB NVMe
Even if you dont you can still put it literally anywhere doesn't matter
Plus, 3 intake and 3 exhaust sounds like nice math instead of 3 intake and 6 exhaust or 6 intake and 3 exhaust
That would be my guess
The single one on the side will be where the reservoir is going
Oh yea
Hence why I wrote "reservoir"
I acknowledged this in my brain 5 minutes ago and then I forgor
I don't sleep that long
Sleep is for the smart, I haven't slept in 20 years
I work nights

and it lets me send the gif by itself
and not a screenshot of it
wow
i just realized that this wasn't general chat LMAO
i'll just leave this here 💀
same but only if it’s annoying and off topic

Can I have anyone's help really quick
I'm looking for an EKWB monoblock for my Asus ROG Crosshair VIII Hero Wi-Fi x570 board
Nvm found one
Coming along nicely so far. Ups just showed up maybe 10 minutes ago.
@fringe iris Try taking out the RAM and putting it back in. That often fixes RGB issues.
oh lord thats alot to do usually it randomly just acts up.. Gkill software sucks
ill wait before I do that lol reseating the ram is annoying when my aio is in the way lol
Yeah the RGB software game in general kinda sucks. You can try using a third party unified solution like OpenRGB instead.
Not even close to being done but just wanted to share some progress I've made. I'm working on cable management as I go so it's taking me longer to do. I'm not in a rush to finish it.
Z series kraken coolers are
Umm things got deleted
Yeah wrong chat lol
All the z series?
Cool really cool I thought it only displayed the temp
Thank you
What that mb z790?
No. The hell where did I put that box. Gimme a second
Msi mpg z690
Cause I was looking at this https://www.newegg.com/p/N82E16813144564?item=N82E16813144564
And some said here not to get it, but it looks just like yours
I love the dragon on the side
It is sexy
Depends on your budget and what you want and will actually use from what I understand. This is the first time I've built a pc like this. I'm so far out of the loop it's not even funny. But I guess thats what happens after you have kids so it is what it is
Honestly, I wouldn't get something strictly off a company logo. That's just me though. I got my motherboard based on color, which also was probably a bad idea but it goes with what I had visioned for my pc.
Which also I thought I had a somewhat original design only to sit here watching YouTube videos while waiting for my parts to come in and see dozens of people already have what I had in my mind when starting this.
There's 1 person in particular that has my exact setup that I wanted so I ordered some fans that were different just to change it up a little. Even if I had to pay a premium to do it.
That makes sense, just do what makes you happy
ive got a question now that im done with my build. this is my first build on this scale ever. so before i turn my pc on for it's first time, do i use the graphics card display port or the one on my motherboard so i can setup my bios?
use the gpu's
It's not detecting my nvme how do I get bios to detect it
What are you using the extra features in it for?
Cool looking mobo
Go for combo
That makes it make sense
Also remember you won’t be looking that much at your mobo once everything is build in it
What you will be looking at more is the peripherals like fans and rgb strip cables, etc etc
So a suggestion I have is, go for a functional mobo, spent the extra money on more rgb fans.
But ask those more informed than I am. (This is base on looks like mention above, your money is worth more in a better gpu)
Did you plug it in correctly?
Or it could be that in this part of the bios you can not see it just yet, saw that with some Msi boards
It only goes in 1 way
I mean yeah.
Just wait for one of the more knowledgeable guys, since I don’t want to go and say what it could be without being the most knowledgeable around here.
Idk what to do right now tbh. I guess I could try to shut down the pc and pop the windows USB in and see what happens but if bios isn't detecting my ssd then I don't think anything will happen.
I already flashed the new updates to the bios.
One day I want to build my dyi cooler maybe
But mostly cause on the Newegg site, that one seems the nicest and it’s white. I’m sorry
just try to disconnect and reconnect it, might just be installed improperly; probably your best bet
Never mind. I'm dumb. I didn't seat it properly earlier today when I woke up and was getting the board ready for the case when it got here. It works now
How do I set the boot order. Or is that automatic these days?
its automatic but to be safe you can throw the nvme in first or the usb with windows on it
Is that a 980 Pro?
Yessir
Ok once you have Windows installed the very first thing you need to do is install samsung magician and update the firmware. There's a major bug killing the drives.
Or ma'am. Whichever
Oh I know. I downloaded it on my laptop just to make sure it works already

Ah good. You're ahead of the game.
Pretty cool tool to have tbh
Yeah those things rip
That boot order look right though? It's sayin hard disk and there's no option for my nvme
Yep
question dunno if i can ask it here but: i want to buy a gaming laptop and im thinking about razer or alienware (no changing my mind) and i found 2 laptops
Alienware is 1100 euros and the specs are, i9 8950hk, gtx 1080 max q, 1080p 120hz screen and 32 gbs ram.
Razer is 1400 euros and the specs are, i7 9750h, rtx 2080 max q, 1080p 240hz screen and 16gbs ram
I wanna know which one is the best for the money, also I heard about the razer that the aluminum becomes very hot if the components become very hot is that true?
or should i go up to a msi katana or asus rog both with 3060
Katana or ROG
This is a no brainer, you can ask me anything with experience in 3 out of 4 of these laptops
Not these specific skus but very close
mhm sadly alienware and razer are soo stupidly overpriced
Personally I recommend the Katana, good specs if you can find one of the cheap ones new
really love their designs and such
Yeah and they aren't really any better tbh, it's all in the aesthetics and not performance
okay! thanks for your help, is it very very loud
agree
One moment mate let me see what I can find rq
okay
GF65 is usually the play but lemme see
Yeah they're back, GF65 is still good lad @karmic mirage
okay thanks

This one
Look for this one in the EU
It's a solid 3060 laptop and all it needs is a cheap 8gb sodimm ddr4 stick
jesus christ those are cheap as hell
they look great
So for that model you'll want, and note this down, and 8gb sodimm ddr4 2666MHz or 2667MHz
or
2x16gb 2666/2667MHz ddr4 sodimms
only the 3050 variant is available here
769
yeah expensive as hell lol
Alr let me have a quick look
i also found a msi vector 1469 which has a 3060, 240hz and 16gm ram
Here we go
https://www.amazon.de/PO-MSI-GF6510U-048-MSI-GF65-Thin-10UE-048FR/dp/B08R3TJ1VJ/ref=mp_s_a_1_1
Only 1 left lol
For nearly twice the price it's not really worth tbh
yeah okay
it doesnt state which gpu tho
This one isn't too bad
GIGABYTE gaming laptops combine current gaming elements with trend-setting technology. The combination of Intel Core H processors of the 12th generation, Nvidia GeForce RTX laptop CPUs and the 144 Hz screen make these laptops a perfect tool whether they are dedicated to everyday tasks or dominati...
I know by the product name it's the right one
okay
rtx 4050
That's not too bad, not any faster than the 800 euro one tho
If barely
The g5 one I linked would be similar performance for nearly 200 less
in the netherlands it the cheapest i can find
but thanks for your help i appriacate it
i agree should i go for that then?
all gaming laptops under the 1000 euros have gtx 1650s or rtx 3050s
Yeah I'm not really seeing anything else yet give me 2 more minutes
okay
If you can afford the bump up to the msi 4050 one do it
But this ideapad is the only cheaper option I can seem to find apart from this gf65
ill do that then
thanks for your help
All good, it should be a nice laptop
im trying to find the gpu wattage
4050 should run anything really that's reasonable
I believe it's a 45w gpu
It's equivalent to like an 80W 3060 iirc
So it's acceptable for 1080p
okay great!
if i wanted to play vr like lower settings is that possible
Uhh
It'll be a bit of a stretch I think
A bit more burly of a system would run it definitely
yeah okay i could have expected that
or i could go msi katana with rtx 4070 for 1699 or is it not worth it that much
Ah you found it too
Yeah that's kind of what I'd do
Performs like a 3070ti laptop which is honestly not bad
Ye
Much better buy than the Razer lmao
There's a bonus with MSI, their software has a toggle to sync with razer stuff
If you like their peripherals
oooh okay
what are good places to buy used pc parts
where you live?
man my new pc is lightyears faster than my laptop ever was. 🤯
Thank you so much for looking into this! I appreciate the leads you found. I'll be taking a closer look this weekend.
You're welcome really, do ask if you have any questions
@lyric crag i love it but, 4 sticks? What speed?
Have you stress tested your memory
4x16 is really hard to run but 2x32 isn't
Ddr5 issue
I am aware of the issues that comes with 4 dimms
I mean ok, as long as you're aware and you've made triple sure it's stable
It's not impossible but definitely much harder than 2x32
Hey at least it's not a corsair kit
Oh yeah def
Less chances of crashing
As I've found out even ddr5 corsair has issues man
They lock the pmic down for no reason
Self-own
They have the highest 2x32 bin and yet you can't even use more sane voltages to run it
Not sure where you live, but Ebay and r/hardwareswap are good places. Just remember, PayPal is your best friend when purchasing from these places.
the new ryzen cpus whats highest ram they can run
Is the I9 12900k and RTX 4080 a good combo (i know the 13900k is out$
Pretty sure 13700K is better, but if 12900K is cheaper it’s good
Consistently, 6400 I believe
The 13600k beats the 12900k in gaming
And matches it in multi core
how about intel...ig what im asking is does faster ram not matter after a point
You will not feel a difference between 6000mhz and 6400mhz
Pretty sure am5 cpus care more about latency after a certain point
i mean the new z790 can do like 7800+
I'd buy that 5600c28 kit I believe it is for $130 for am5
Might be 5200c28
Either way will oc incredibly
It can do that, yes
So I finally bit the bullet and order a 4080. I have a 2070 Super and at 1440p it just can't keep up with everything I want anymore. I wanted to wait but I'm tired of games dipping below 60 hz. Or dropping for 80 Hz average ( I run. 144hz.)
Thanks. Excited for it to come in.
how can i upload pic of my build to the build pics channel? Sorry, dumb question, but I'd like to share
Should I get windows 11
You'll need to chat for a bit until your name turns green before you get image permissions
Oh, I see.
You can. There's nothing really wrong with it any more, and it's basically required if you have an Intel CPU with E-cores.
Upgrade whenever you're ready to give it a try. Windows 10 will be updated until October 2025.
Well, here's my build. Finished earlier this week. My first time. Very excited!
CPU: Intel i5-13600K 13th Gen Raptor Lake
CPU Cooler: DeepCool LT720 Liquid CPU Cooler
Fans: Lian Li Uni Fan SL120 RGB
Motherboard: ASrock Z790 PG Riptide
Memory: COSAIR Vengeance 32GB DDR5 5600
GPU: GIGABYTE GeForce RTX 3070
Storage: SAMSUNG 980 PRO M.2 SSD 2TB
Power Supply: CORSAIR RMx Series 2021 RM805x
Case: Lian Li O11 Dynamic EVO White
Wow that’s a lot longer than I thought
To think the bo2 year is almost upon us
yeah i was about to say that if you get 10 and it's official itll upgrade you to 11 automatically anyways so might as well just get 11 and be done with it.
Yeah I was just curious since I kinda wanted to try out a new UI.
i went to bed one day with windows 10 and woke up with windows 11 and hated it
Nice setup. A couple things I wouldn't have done personally but nice all the same.
Did you revert back to 10 from settings? I think that was you that did. Too many people to keep track.
no
the option was there but i never did. there was a prompt that said even if you revert you can only do so for so long before it auto upgrades again.
if i remember right yeah
That's easy enough to fix, disable TPM in bios and it'll fail the requirements check
11 sucks with navigating and the transition to apps from programs but it's not a bad os tbh. just annoying to navigate at first
It does take a little getting used to. M$ decided to copy some parts of the Apple UI.
Are you using W10 or W11?
11
do you prefer it?
I upgraded a few months after launch because I have to help other people with it 🙃
so i take that as a no lmao
I don't prefer one over the other really
11 has more tracking which I'm not thrilled about but that's easy to stop
i prefer to not use apple anything
Well in that line I prefer Linux
Honestly im debating getting an android for my next phone
the only apple product i ever owned was an ipod mini several years ago before they made phones
or a shuffle
whatever it was called
apple sucks
Apple comes across as so elitist to me. Remember how you couldn't update your Apple TV recently unless you had an iPhone or iPad to scan the code on screen?
So if you didn't have that you were left with a brick unless you looked up the rather complicated bypass method
thats actually crazy
I really only use it becasue all my friends and family use it
I used to think they were better. I mean they have better hardware but that doesnt mean anything if ur limited by everything
better hardware in their phones btw
I like to use emulators on my phone and Apple says "hell no" when you try to put one on their app store
theres nothing better about the hardware. they've always been playing catch up with samsung
EXACTLY
I hated that so much
Apple is just a standardized experience, if you only do what they want you to do, it's a great experience. If you want to do anything else, you're out of luck.
their cpus are always faster but that the only thing tho
the memes about it isn't just for jokes. its always been facts. apple useres excited to get something thats been on android for at least 5 years standard at minimum
It's like consoles, optimization towards doing one thing
Camera relies on post processing
id be halfway into a pokemon black playthrough and the emulator gets revoked in a week
yeah literally
that can good if thats all u care about
which for me it is because i barely do anything on my phone
but I could never use a mac
It's also kinda the opposite of consoles, because consoles use that optimizing as an excuse to get away with rather low specs
good lord. this image on a curved monitor makes it look like its moving
cough Nintendo
I feel like id vomit looking at that
On the PC side, like apple is amazing for audio and video editing, but when you take that same hardware to do games? You're out of luck
Use wallpaper engine 🤓
Id use apple if i was a business man
I could'nt focus knowing that I can game on the same machine i do my job on
imo
its static on my flat screen monitor but my main monitor it looks like its moving for real lol
Lol
whats ur monitor
which one?
whichever one the picture is moving on
oh. uh, i ust got it so i should know this but i dont so hold on
its cheap but it's still pretty nice
speakers in it are 100% junk but thats what my headset is for so its whatever
It's supposed to be decent enough
its 1080p its gonna be cheap that doesnt mean its bad
i don't need anything more than 1080p
only problem is i dont know anything better

can u see the difference between 144/165 and 240?
my other monitor is something from walmart idk what it is. it was given to me when my wifes dad died since it was his and he broke my pc
damn
no
Very few people can tell the difference reliably
the human eye can't notice a difference past 60hz
gameplay is smoother and more responsive though
That's a myth
Ok i can notice that
It's just diminishing returns after a point
i was running among us at 3k fps last night according to nvidia
Ive never seen 240
60 vs 120 is super noticeable, 120 vs 240, depends on the person
well, it peaked at 3020
I got 9k on minecraft once
I don't mind criticism. Hit me. I'm aware I made some mistakes most likely and/or choose some components I didn't necessarily need and could have went lower spec.
i can only realistically get 240 on a 240hz monitor
The Gigabyte M27Q and the ASUS TUF VG27AQ perform very similarly. They're both 27 inch IPS monitors with a 1440p resolution. The Gigabyte has better response times at max refresh rate and 60Hz. Its refresh rate is slightly higher, 170Hz compared to the ASUS' 165Hz, but this isn't noticeable. Although both monitors have a Black Frame Insertion fe...
no lol I know what better I just mean I havent seeen anything better
in person
Ohhhh
ty tho
yeah way better response and proper hdr
i wish i had those
the hdr on this thing is crap
The uni fans are too expensive for how bad they are, and I would have gotten faster memory using the savings from buying cheaper fans that are better.
