That's a while ago
Also, I went to Microcenter myself just this past Thursday
Was not worth it
It’s so so far from me so I rarely go
Mines 4 hours there, 4 hours back
Lucky
I wish fry’s was still around tho. That’s like the best and funnest
But yeah, bought a case that I can't use rn
I rarely buy stuff from Amazon. Their packaging is to use air
Spent $400 on a case and 9 fans
All of my Blu-ray boxes and other stuff is always horribly dented
I never had issues with Amazon honestly
Maybe it’s based on location
Maybe your guys suck
They get paid more than me 🤷♂️
I work for free as an intern
I have 5 job position responsibilities but only get paid for one

Yep
Man this is gonna a giant pain to replug all the cables in later… my pc is like a rat’s nest
I blame Corsair RGB cables
you dont need to do cable management if you dont like it xD, you can always slap the cover and forget the whole thing
Uh
this is mine :3
Isn't the pump in the cpu block on those
Upside down?
It's an upside down case
Yee
That's just how I had it laid actually
I will be doing a vertical mount too
Just need to get different 90° adapters since the ones I have don't fit the card
@earnest olive
@delicate flame
@cyan ravine
this is what you pinged me for
which one is better
I'm in bed
we literally had this conversation yesterday
...
and its also 32gb
Which cpu
Yeah 3600
okay
also
since ur in bed
fish fungers
i have a question
will the case i get come with fans
and like water cooling
or do i have to build it myself
Idk
I just joined this conversation
It'll come with fans iirc
And ofc you'll need to build it
When we make lists here usually you should have everything to get using said lists
whats a said list
Pcpartpicker list
No
hi fam
Factory error
Lmao
Exploded while plugged into the GPU
lol
It's not probably about the graphics card, it more like dp that has the clips you have to squeeze before removing
If you don't that happens ^^
It could have also been some bad quality cable
Got the new power supply to replace my dead one
anyone know a gpu vertical mount for the RTX 4090 and for the Lian li XL case
Anyone have any ideas on best bang for buck for mobo and processor upgrade? Probably ram too... friend is on an fx6300 and needs something modern lol
What use case? Gaming?
Toughest game he's running is rdr2, otherwise it's nothing too bad
I think best value cpu atm if just gaming and not wanting to get crazy is a 12100f. They are $106 and perform really well in most games.
Yeah, if he absolutely needs it cheaper look at used
ebay has one for $84 atm
3600, 10400f, 10100f, 12100f,11400f for used Market
I was going to recommend used on at least the ram since I know that tends to be fairly safe
3300x for absolute cheapest I would say
10105f is a good budget cpu. can reg find them for $75 on ebay.
Ram, if going 3300x/3600/ whatever other amd cpu you could find for cheap that's 3000 series or newer, go for a 3600c18 kit
Otherwise 3200c16 kit
ram is cheap anyways.
Can buy one new for $40
16gb kit*
Mobo, depends on specific cpu
Likely just whatever cheapest b450/b550 for amd, and cheapest b560 or h610/b660 for 10th/11th gen or 12th gen
fx6300... tell him I'm so sorry for the suffering he has endured these past few years
as a previous fx6300 owner i endorce this statement
I never owned one
but I used to game and run a server simultaneously on a slightly worse cpu
(i5-2430M)
Apparently he already has ddr4 ram so he might be good there
what speed/timings?
Wow based team red enjoyer
Some 3200 so it's decent probs being hamstrung by the mobo and processor
Woo I fixed the entire PC now. Doesn’t look like the dead PSU fried my other components
Let’s hope this Corsair PSU last longer
should be
nice, congrats
glad it didn't take anything with it, and what psu is it?
Hell yeah man, glad everything is fine! Same question though, what model PSU from Corsair?

are you sure he’s running an fx6300 bc that ram is not compatible with the fx6300
fx6300 is strictly ddr3
As a p(ot)ato
My old one or this new one?
Old PSU that died was Seasonic focus GX 650
it'll definitely last you longer than your old seasonic focus
i know this is hard, but what could be causing about a click a second on my pc? like its slower than a fan but idk what it is
It could still be a fan. Often a wire slightly rubbing on one.
Thats what I thought too
Im 99% sure thats the case because his best CPU upgrade would be like the fx8030 or something like that
I had fun with my brothers PC today
How dare you out me like this

Welp, I think my GPU AIO just died
And I'll help you hear this message from our sponsor, Linode
Does any one know about a sff cases that support 4x240mm rads
The two I'd check just off the top of my head are o11d and y60
I'm not saying they will though, just the two I know of that I'd say are worth checking
I'm looking for something smaller
Looking for some budget case fans, don’t need RGB, would prefer if they’re in black, gonna put them in a Phanteks P300A, only need two 120mm’s or 140mm’s
I would like to stay under $20
P12s or p14s
All day every day
Arctic p12 pwm pst
Hmmmmm
Are those the cheapest I’m gonna get without buying garbage?
Theres probably some ok options at a slightly lower price but the p12s will be wayyy better
^
P12s some of the best fans on the market while being cheaper than most competition
Alright I’ll take your word for it, I appreciate it
Anyone able to help with this case
Also
2x240
Not 4
She doesn't listen well lol

Pretty sure o11 can fit 2
Is it small
That's the thing
We need small
011 mini
: 🤔
Small which way
Like, a small box, do you need it short, do you need it short length wise
Like shoet
Short
Really hard to explain
I have the n400 currently
She has it I mean
I need something taller than that
Twice height works
Doesn't need to have windows
Same length would be nice
Small space on her desk to work with
anyone have Deepcool AK620 on an X670E who could take pics? Checking clearance issues
shouldn't have clearance issues, those mobos have standardized clearances
id get the aero
I'm not a gigabutt fan but it looks alright
gigglefart
Why they don't have cpu_pump header as asus
@fossil cedar halp lol
no need for one
it's much better than plugging it to cpu fan header and max speed in bios
wit wat
probably called like cpu_opt or something
Above
Weird place
Yeah aorus boards have it at bottom right lol . Most pump cables can't reach there
@potent portal @cyan ravine following your suggestions on gpu was not the play
amd has been the worst driver experience ever
constantly needing to update or ddu
either my games stutter or my 2nd monitor freaks out or my whole pc just stutters every few minutes
I mean tbh we've tried a lot of the steps at least as far as I can remember. Maybe it's time to RMA the gpu or take it back and swap for something else
Like if you did "/sfc scannow" in administrator command prompt and the pc found corrupted files then you could at least somewhat rule the gpu out
Idk what else to really say, unless you have something like an 4KHz/8KHz polling rate mouse or some other software is just really buggy
I'm at this point as equally confused about this as we've done as far as I can remember most steps out of the playbook
Hey been looking into getting a PC or gaming laptop under 700$ perferably 500-600$ if thats possible any recommendations
yeah
I have the Razer Viper Ultimate @cyan ravine btw
but it's never caused this issue so I seriously doubt that's the case
then I really don't know
If you check the psu is wired up right, rma it, at this point we've physically replaced and checked everything
warranty it
idk did you rma it already?
no
or swap it for a new one
could be the mobo?
just start rma'ing things you haven't replaced yet
or comb your system for software that you haven't uninstalled
the mobo I bought from a friend
the ram ssd and hdd I've had for quite a while
same with the case
maybe I should hard reset my pc?
no other software such as what
things like steam and other stuff?
I wouldn't be able to tell if there was issues probably if I did that
razer corsair background stuff like teams discord wallpaper engine etc
I can close everything
tho the only thing I have open besides steam is discord in the first place
also
it seems to happen everytime I put my pc to sleep and then come home from work or the next day there's some kind of issue
and restarting my pc usually fixes it
If these issues occur on a blank install I'm honestly out of ideas software wise
maybe it's just the mobo dying tbh
with the mobo and psu replaced there really will be nothing else to say could be broken
rgb fan isn't working anymore and other stuff was being a pain when I first installed everything
I haven't replaced the mobo
I never said I did either
we've really exhausted our help here we aren't trying to mislead you
no I know it just so happens to be the case that when I listened to you guys things turned out this way even though it's not your guy's fault lol
well because this isn't normal pc behaviour lol
Im tempted to just replaced the mobo at this rate and if the issue persists then look into replacing the gpu
I really doubt it's the gpu if the warranty was unsuccessful
have you rma'd the gpu?
What is RMA
as in replaced the gpu with a new one from newegg ?
or something different
no I haven't
try RMA'ing the gpu then
that would take how long ?
like fr try a blank install with your games, if that's fruitless, RMA literally everything you can under the sun
idk, depends on the manufacturer
some can turn around in a week, others can take weeks and weeks
sounds easier to just ask for a replacement
but you don't lose money by doing it
well they'll make you do the warranty check anyway
since when
pretty normal merchant practice
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/vLwHFg is this a good build?
Part List - Intel Core i5-13600K, GeForce RTX 4070 Ti, Lian Li Lancool II Mesh C RGB ATX Mid Tower
to make sure the claim something's broken is genuine
it's not bad, let me touch it up a little
ok
@spring hedge can you afford $50 more
yeah i guess
so I have to give asrock a list of my whole pc set up ?
actually hang on
its fine
that psu can be cheaper give me another couple minutes
felix at work making stonks builds
ok $50 more expensive but wouldn't change anything @spring hedge
Part List - Intel Core i5-13600KF, Radeon RX 7900 XTX, Phanteks Eclipse G360A ATX Mid Tower
i would just skip buying win license
If they want it yes
but i can't say it

I tried having a look but everything seems to be more expensive rn, maybe someone else can help with this?
@cyan ravineso yeah I guess so
not sure the easiest way to get majority of that stuff
my hdd and os stuff I have no idea
wth are these themes on this lmao
what is the fsb for my cpu
1:16
CPU/Processor (Brand,Speed, FSB,Cache Size)
is your fsb
cache size I put 32mb cause that's what it say
no need to provide fsb if you can't
it's probably asrock being asrock lol
I just put FSB 1:16
guess I should specify it for ram rather than cpu
where would I find the os and driver
obvious what my os is but what does driver mean for this
@cyan ravineI emailed them so hopefully it won't take too long for a response and once I send it off hopefully it won't take forever either
if the warranty is unsuccessful once the whole thing is done and it's not the gpu then I guess I'm gonna rma the cpu tho I'll see if that's the issue when I rma the gpu and use my 1060 3gb
I guess if it was the cpu I'd find out while the gpu is gone so if it's not then I guess a new mobo it is
@cyan ravinequestion tho
I wanna look at my gpu usage during games and see if it dips when my game stutters
if it does would that mean something?
I'd give them chipset driver version
uh
idk if I did
Operating System: Windows 10 Home 64Bit/Version 21H2/OS Build 19044.2486. is what I put for the os
I mean if it's basically locked at 90%+ generally no
yyeah
You can check with task manager
ye Im using msi afterburner
rocket league isn't a good way to test but also for some reason apex legends and Elden ring sometimes don't lag at all
only rocket league and brawlhalla sometimes
@potent portalbro
my pcs audio will cut out twice and my pc will just lag
every minute or so sometimes longer sometimes shorter it will just lag and audio cut once and then a few seconds later do it again
We're all pretty stumped at this point, we were talking about you earlier. There's only a few common factors left.
My theory is a bad/false ground but that's really hard to test for without special equipment.
The wall outlet, or even the fuse box
uh
Noise on the ground because of poor installation practices will definitely cause audio crackle
yeah it's not that
it's been perfectly ok thus far
2400 watts plenty enough on the circuit for my pc cause nothing else in my room takes much
as for the box Idk
Having plenty of power available and having dirty power are two very different things
You can validate this by trying to use the pc in another room. If it's perfectly fine? It's dirty power
Doesn't need to have popping or unusual behaviour
Not trying to press this too much but we are really running short of ideas on our end
@fossil cedarbasically earlier i was looking for a case for gf pc something small but will work with 240mm aio and a 3080ti hybrid 240 aio toohttps://pcpartpicker.com/user/ballads/saved/zKymCJ hoping to find something smaller than this... currently we have the nr400 and i was looking for something that width and length but height doesnt matter.
Amanda - AMD Ryzen 7 5800X, GeForce RTX 3080 Ti, be quiet! Silent Base 802 ATX Mid Tower
so why would a ground issue only happen now @cyan ravine
not with all my previous pc parts and stuff
the power consumption hardly different and the eletrical work was all done recently
Like I said, we're grasping at straws
It's worth a shot anyway
I can't explain it reasonably but it can often lead to different behaviour if power's involved
@cyan ravine any ideas
my wall of text lol
also open to changing cooler and making a smaller case work
Fish
I can't think of what to do to fix my ground issue
besides rerunning wire
which is money and annoying
Indeed, I don't have a better answer for that one
But you said you recently did work there so I doubt it's the case
another way to test
But I don't really know what else it could be
Yeah
Or we could again try a blank windows install and see if it happens while gaming on that
@haughty void have a look and see if the meshroom S could fit
Hm ok
Lian li dan a4 maybe if it's able to fit an atx psu
that would work if the card wasnt hybrid :/
@tepid roost
Like again, I really don't want to say it is, but I'm about out of ideas
yeah I'd rather Rma it first before messing with that
mcflurry
Alr
even just a 25ft roll of 12/2 is way too much
try bringing to friends house or family member
and test there
explaining whats going on
I did the eletrical work with 2 old co workers from my eletrical job
and then see if it happens
yes I will try that when I can
cause it would be a big pita if you were to rma and find out it wasnt the issue
yeah it'd be annoying but I'll also find out before it's even back when I use my other gpu instead
that'll let me know whether it's the gpu or if it's the cpu/outlet
also I will try a new install of windows just because what the hell
as it is the only other suggestions I've gotten besides rmaing reinstalling windows and outlet/box wiring are just dduing pretty much
Idk if that's all there is or something someone forgot or whatever but I'll try the windows reinstall first
I can even switch my gpu to my 1060 3gb and ddu before I send my 6700xt off for an rma if need be
that would be easier tbh
all i know im trying to look at cases and a few look amazing then you check clearences and NOPE
that way if it's not the gpu which tbh it most likely is I can avoid rma
We've not really forgot anything at this point
I really doubt the eletrical is just magically messed up as soon as I install new pc parts
Alright I just wanted to make sure
we shall see then
I'll try my other gpu first
and if the issue persists I'll try a new install of windows
and if even then I'll take care of the wiring issue
@cyan ravine RAIJINTEK OPHION EVO Mini

Raijintek provides the products - high compatibility, extreme engineering, remarkable performance, amazing design, necessity of demand and multifunctional usage – for high recommendation everywhere to make up your life.
also I'll make sure all of my power stuff is properly plugged in when I change the gpu out
its also got atx psu support
hmm
Maximum CPU cooler height up to 82mm
but ill need help finding something like that
for the 5800x
Ngl that case looks functional and decent
does that sound fine Fish?
the way we would need to do is hybrid card which would put the rad at top
something not plugged in properly psu wise could possibly cause this correct?
just curious
A backwards psu cable could but something would've truly broken by now I think
ok
Loose cable...maybe???
You could prolly go smaller if you wanted to go that route
With a new cpu cooler
Like phanteks evolv shift xt
anything is possible
I'm not good with sff tho cos I can never remember which ones take atx psus
Nr200p might work??

we have the nr200
but i wanted to use atx psu
i currently have a 750w i think
give uno secondo
oh crap wait
Rip
so my sff psu is bad
Lol
low wattage
i like the shift and amanda does too
Shift fit atx psu?
Le sadge
use a sfx psu
Oooo
The V SFX Gold delivers the high-quality experience you’ve come to expect from the V series in SFX form factor. Enjoy the same great features with 80 Plus Gold efficiency, full-modular cabling, an FDB fan, 16AWG PCIe high-efficiency cables. But now you can have it in a mini-ITX case. With the V S...
amazon is fine
gf is buying stuff she doesnt care about time it takes
this all for her lol
Yeah that's a good one
No clue
Reuse or grab p12's if you need more
I know it takes 120's
So a 240 rad will def fit
Height: 5.43 in - 137.8 mm
i wish i could find someone using this for a hybrid card
:/
Try looking around places like reddit for builds using your combo
Sffpc discord might also know
I wish I knew more to help lol
i know
im trying to find someone who did a hybrid card
like i said i'd do aircooler
Everyone I know who goes SFF tends to go down this path of major research
if we could use the hybrid
@cyan ravine yo would it be wise to use the same pci cord for both plugs in the gpu or use separate or does it not matter
Separate is generally much better
Ehhhh
I'll do separate cause I had one pci PSU cord plugged in
Also why isn't my rgb on my fan working bruuuh
L fan
No idea on that one
If it's plugged in and nothing then it's possible that the strip inside it is dead
Or maybe even the rgb header
idk
I'm really kinda leaning towards mobo at this point with all its knicks and knacks lol
between me abusing it
and the last owner heavily abusing it
bro burnt the usb 3.0 header
but idk if that explains all the issues or not
@cyan ravineif I have still have stutters tonight I'll try changing surge protectors and changing gpu
If it's dirty power a surge protector won't do jack to help
Btw Fal I never told you how that worked out
in fact it's probably like 10 years old lmao
I have a newer one sitting around somewhere collecting dust that's good
I shifted my cables around, paperclip tested the psu, popped everything back in, never done it to me again
IT'S WEIRD
Idk what was happening
Fish
also
how would it be the ground?
Grounds have to do with surges not with power at all
the neutral being lose would cause me to not get power at all
and the negative the same
so it would make sense if it were my surge protector but my wiring/outlet makes zero sense
What do you think is happening inside that PSU
Falcie it still doesn't mean it's the outlet itself
1000 mini surges per second
it would be the psu/surge protector at that point
if the neutral was loose I wouldn't even get power in the first palce
place*
Never mentioned the ground
Dirty power implies a dirty input
We're all pretty stumped at this point, we were talking about you earlier. There's only a few common factors left.
My theory is a bad/false ground but that's really hard to test for without special equipment. Falcie said that
Oh that
Bad ground can imply like
You know what I don't really wanna try answer what I'm not the best on
Im talking to an eletrician as we speak lol
a bad outlet would've been fried by now or just not work at all
it doesn't make sense that the wiring/outlet is the issue
Not if it's a false ground
but the surge protector is a possibility
A false ground in a pc can be caused by cable bridging or arcing
Falcie explain better with the ground
do you mean a ground in the psu or something in the pc or do you mean the wiring
Quick question: 2080 with a 12900k, 32 gigs of ddr4 3600, would this be a bottleneck?
Before you go that far you can get a tester, if changing the power strip doesn't work
There's always going to be a bottleneck somewhere, but that's a great setup for 1440p ultra
I can borrow from a friend but I doubt that's the problem cause I shouldn't even be able to be on my pc in the first place
surge protector is completely sensible tho
between the power difference between my previous set up and now and the fact that the surge protector is very old
kk thanks
Any
Without taking out the outlet to physically inspect the wiring testers that can find bad grounds are usually around $300
Bad grounds in particular will cause audio issues
But does it detect false grounds? Simple $15 testers don't
sounds like your talking about a tictracer lol
At any rate this is just what I'd look at next if changing the power bar doesn't work
either way it's not that lmao
the one my friend has is good so I'll try that if the power bar and gpu change and other stuff doesn't work
but first I haven't even tried any games since making sure things were plugged in properly
also @cyan ravine is it possible that either one of the cords was loose and causing or that me separating the pci connection was the fix?
Maybe
rocket league is running perfect rn
no stutters beside the initial launch into training so idk either it needs time to kill itself or that was it
shall see we
@cyan ravineI hate pc parts
it literally did it right after I sent the msg
also @cyan ravine it could be usb issues because in the past I had a razer taipan mouse that went bad and caused a similar issue cause it was shorting the usbs and some other stuff
Possible
would explain the audio cutting out too since my headset is still plugged into my mic
my mic may be bad idk
Audio cutting is audio driver related if it's using an audio cable instead of usb
Usb...idk I don't recall
it's going through usb because the mic is usb
my controller is also plugged in
which is possible
maybe a bad cord or something
nvm I played another game and had the issue without my controller plugged in so scratch that
also something to note is that this only started happening when I had to switch to using my headset on my mic and the 3.5mm wasn't working
3.5 could be drivers or the mobo?
mic/headset could be causing cause either the headset is messed up or the usb is messed up or something?
Either tbh onboard audio is always iffy
I didn't realize the audio was through USB, that's not a bad ground then
that's good to hear
Yes mobo is fine features wise
features wise and power wise?
I'd imagine just checking everything
maybe the board is just ready to die lol
Power you only need to worry about when using top tier chips, r7/i7 or above, and even for those your board is good
ok good
so
since it's not the ground
Idk if it's the mic shorting stuff out because the pc lags but the kbm and controller work fine still I think
Try no mic and headset?
Hey man if the whole event turned out to be the peripherals I would be relieved more than anything lol
yeah same lol
would it be the headset or mic tho?
idc either way cause I want a new mic
this was from my brother cause he accidently bought two and it was close to 200 I think but it's not good at all for the price
and a usb/wireless headset would be nice soon
Anything could surprise me at this point
not the mic and headset then
still happened
so at this point
I guess it's the cpu mobo or gpu or windows at this point?
I could ddu and switch my 1060 real quick but I'm kind of lazy to do so
switch to my 1060*
@potent portal would it still be my gpu if the audio was cutting out?
It can be yes
I played risk of rain 2 and it didn't happen a single time
is it possibly just rocket league and brawlhalla having some file issues or something?
It's entirely possible that it's just some sort of issue with specific games at this point
yea
because it hasn't happened a single time on ror2
apex either
idk about elden ring I haven't checked
at this point maybe just a hard reset and reinstall of windows would just be a good idea
Nothing is too outlandish at this point
^
audio settings
very specific
which windows are you on?
10
use this guide
garbled audio?
Im confused
is this for the stutters on games I've been having and audio cutting out or just audio issues?
Those issues could be related or they could be from different issues entirely
what should it be at
and why would it only happen in rl and brawl what
but I'll try
Hey y’all I don’t understand amd, as I was an Intel kid, but I’m trying to see what is the latest cpu to upgrade for my Asus Sabertooth 990FX R2.0
it's at 1 channel 24 bit 48k hz
44100hz is best fit for gaming
Different games will use different audio formats
FX-9590
aka crap cpu
ok nah that didn't work I don't think
Literally worse than a first gen Ryzen 1500
restart what my pc?
yes
Can I upgrade my motherboard but keep all my parts to get me in Ryzen territory?
Nope. Ryzen means you have to jump to DDR4 memory too.
^
ddr4 ram is cheap these days
about 40 bucks for 16 gigs
5600 also fairly cheap
You'd have to buy a new CPU, RAM, and mobo to do the platform upgrade
Part List - AMD Ryzen 5 5600
for quick n dirty reference
about 300 bucks to upgrade
This is my streaming pc, I put the elgato 4k60 pro in there Saw later that it was only compatible with a ryzen 7
Which R7
There's over a dozen
For reference that 5600 Foxy recommended is equal to a 3700X, which is vastly superior to any 2000 series
Hey guys! I'm completely new to building my own PC, but I researched all the parts needed, i'm not sure if the components match up to work correctly. Would I be able to get some help? I miss being able to game without lag lol
Plug the parts into https://pcpartpicker.com/list/ and it'll tell you if they'll work on a basic level
Choose Your Parts
pcpp will also help somewhat at least
You can share the list here and we can tell you our recommendations too
I meant to say it still works but the main issue I’m having with the pc is that it won’t stay asleep or hibernate
@obsidian wigeonno stutters so far on rocket league
that's good
I also got a blue screen at times for sc07610
@obsidian wigeon uh for some reason when I opened apex legends it went into a lower res and now my youtube video sounds sped up but isn't
its like they have helium now for some reason
What's the primary purpose of this system?
gaming, streaming, and personal use
Ok I'd wait a bit and get 7950X3D when it comes out at the end of this month
Not really. If anything it's weaker than Intel in gaming. X3D will change that.
lol i figured get the best GPU and CPU and MB, upgrade the rest as I go
yeahhhhhh i'm noticing that lol, i'm tired of lagging in my system, i knew you guys could help! i've never built one before
@potent portal any idea why after I opened my game my youtube sounds sped up?
my mic is flashing red again maybe I should just restart my pc cause I didn't earlier when fox said to
4080 or 7900XTX will handle 4k ultra at 120+ fps in almost everything
Reboot?
going to after match
https://www.aquatuning.us/AtsdCartSave/load/key/b6597c3aacbb497c5f4896f58c65162c good list for a cpu/gpu custom loop?
@sage forge Here's what I'd go with for a 3k budget. Spends money where it needs to be for best bang for buck. https://pcpartpicker.com/list/cqvmMb
Part List - GeForce RTX 4080, Corsair 5000D AIRFLOW ATX Mid Tower
7950X3D and 7900X3D go on sale the 28th
Either will do
Thank you so much! i'm gonna check it out right now.
Oh also no need to spend full retail price on a copy of Windows. Going price on resale market for 10 keys (works on 11 too) is about $25.
oh sweet, that's awesome, thanks for the heads up
i've found some for as low as 10-15 usd
Depends on where you look. I prefer the more reputable markets but if you're willing to compromise that there's deals.
I've seen as low as $5
right
i have a recent mobo and power supply being given to me soon of which the spec i don't know, although the latter might be optimal for a 10 series card, and a ryzen 3 coming back to me once i meet up with friends
i am building this one for my brother, who just finished building his house recently
my only question is, which gpu would work best with a ryzen 3 3200g, like a sweet spot?
yes i know this is a lower end cpu, but it can work for wiiu/ps3/360 and weaker
Maybe a 1070. 3060 at most.
3060 not ti?
yes
Right
PS3 also requires a lot of power to run on the CPU so don't expect much there
maybe i'll pass on ps3/360
My 5800X barely keeps up sometimes
ps2, og xbox, everything nintendo?
Yep that'll be decent
that's much easier ya
even switch?
Considering most of it is locked to 30fps
with a ryzen 3
switch maybe
wiiu is safer bet
modern console isn't easy on cpu to emulate
Switch at native 720p res maybe
i don't even like a lot of modern games
pc or console
for pc i'd mostly put indie stuff on it from steam
not even newer aaa
I agree
I just got my 5 year old hooked on Star Fox 64
maybe even wii u will be stressful?
ooo star fox
It's the Wii WAD version
since the wiiu is much stronger than the wii on native hardware, about on par with ps3
but i heard emulation got easier
(I couldn't buy that now if I wanted to since the store is dead but I do own it legally anyway)
i honestly couldn't care less but i have to pretend like i do to avoid mr bing bing wahoo's wrath
and discord's
i'm chill about preservation
i lost a lot of stuff in a house fire in 2013 or so anyway
Well the Wii U has about the same GFLOPs on the processor as the PS3 at least but the PowerPC processor is actually easier to emulate than the custom BS the PS3 had
right
i wonder what bloat i should be removing while retaining everything from ms on win 11
cause idle cpu usage is 30-40% on my laptop
8 core processor
1 core dedicated to the system menu at all times
1 core for audio
6 cores for games
And they all do parallel processing and texture loading REALLY weirdly
i got 4710hq on this thang
Devs HATED programming on PS3
it's a wonder how tlou devs managed to bring out the most from ps3
Bethesda took so long to release the Skyrim DLC that they ended up giving it away for free
at least ps4 is just a pc
ran great and looked great
ps4 moved to amd
that's one of the few x86 non-m$ systems i've seen
Saw the X and got defensive lol
x86 too
nice
Xbone series just uses a modified Windows x86
xbox has always ran modified windows
yes
wasn't the 360 weird
with using a ppc architecture
or was it also x86_32 like the original
Kinda weird but Apple used it too
Recently yeah
arm is solid on apple
mostly sbc's use it atm
but anywhere you're limited to phones and sbcs
remember that mac that looked like a trash can
M1 is without a doubt Apple's best innovation to date
eta prime found one and made something work lately
The trash can Shaped Mac Pro was cutting edge tech in 2013 but how does it hold up in 2023? In this video we see how well the 6 core Mac Pro handles PC gaming and emulation. We have Windows 10 running on the Mac Pro and we test out games like Injustice 2, God of war, the Witcher 3 and more. And of corse we need some emulators so PPSSPP is used f...
the trash can shaped one
My first Mac, used mostly for Oregon Trail
i love that crt
this was not the one though
i was saying it superficially resembled a waste basket
Yeah that one was... controversial
it was a beast even if it looked bad
as someone who's always stuck with low end pc's as a kid
i worked with what i had and didn't find out about ssd until 2019
once i had one, chef's kiss
Over-promised and under-delivered
lol fair enough
when did you two find out about ssd's
long ago
oh nice
back in like 2016 for me
that's early
It was well before that for me
when they were still somewhat expensive
i remembered seeing 64 gigs ssd being expensive
now they're 60 bucks for a 1tb m.2
Remember the ones that were literally DRAM chips on a tray?
Had to have a battery on device to avoid losing data if you unplug it lmao
since this is the build chat, i'm building my bro a pc with a custom case, and am going to try to find a 3060-level card used
probably poor endurance
how much do or should they go for used
apart from needing battery
1070 ti or so
No worse than DDR3 itself
i also can give up some of my ram to my bro
but i wouldn't go near 300 with used 3060
since i have a 32gb 4 sticks
i don't need 32gb yet
16gb is enough for the stuff i do
so i can give an 8gb stick or two to my bro
for his build
meanwhile im trying to find ways to debloat while keeping ms store
the case will be wooden and hung up on the wall
it sounds counterproductive but i want it to stay lmao
i like making custom
since cases are expensive
to just buy
and i have a lot of wood lying around
from older projects
I have 4 games that I play fairly regularly that crash if I have only 16GB and I don't increase my page file size
Well 16GB would be in dual channel mode and 8GB would be in single channel
It's cheap anyway
3600C18 for Ryzen is like $40 16GB
ram is dummy cheap for ddr4
okay!!
as low as it'll get
i'll look for ddr4
are there any hardware swap discords like fixit fixit fixit?
in addition to that one
thanks!
