Question for yall
Best case scenario something came loose in the PC, worst case you have to rebuild the boot loader or reinstall. Nuclear case is the SSD peaced out.
Is it possible to use one pc, two monitors, and run each monitor as a seperate account?
Using virtual machines yes. You can even have 2 sets of peripherals.
Doubtful it just went kaput, unless it's a really bad model
It's not is a Samsung 980 pro
Oh no
What
Thinking of convincing my hotel owner to let me build a PC and replace our two sh*tbox all-in-one PCs
But I want to do one tower and two monitors
Oh God what happened
NOOOO
Thank God I run WD back SN850X
AHHHH
The good news is if that's the case Samsung will replace it
Oh thank God how do I file a claim? Or it might not even be the case
First things first is to get a health report on the drive
You can pull the smart info using a live Linux USB and that'll tell you the drive health
Why does it have to be Linux? And where do I download or get one
Linux is easiest to work with here because it'll run off the USB without installing
Ok
Ubuntu is an open source software operating system that runs from the desktop, to the cloud, to all your internet connected things.
Either version works, 22.04 or 22.10
Use Rufus to write the file to your USB. It'll delete any data on it in the process.
How would I run windows with a VM?
Ik how to do it, roughly, with Linux. I've done it ONCE before
You have one copy of Windows running the main machine and another copy running in the VM
Mostly
If I had to launch software that needs access to the cloud/wifi would it still function?
Got it
And connect through that to the Internet
I'm just tired of these PCs that we have that barely meet the system requirements for 1600x900 even though the screens are 1080p
Yeesh

I3 tenth gen, 4GB ram, and a 256gb nvme
Trying to run multiple cloud sync softwares and anti-virus simultaneously
Oh, and we're on W11
Sounds like a job for x99 doesn't it @leaden mauve
Sorry, i3-11th gen
Little issue here I don't have a laptop or an extra PC to do that
Probably gonna do a Ryzen 5 5600G, 1050ti, 16GB ram, 1TB nvme
Lost the charger to my laptop and everyone else has macs
Mac would work
zen/zen+ threadripper is obsolete
i wasnt responding to you
the world doesnt revolve around you, weirdass
Wait...yes you were. I made the comment about threadripper
Bro chill
Not the modern ones they don't have a USB plug-in them only usbc I would need a usbc drive and no store near me sells them
I didn't? But oki
I'm so screwed
No USB docks either?
Nope
Do you at least have the windows install USB still? It's clunky but I might be able to get that to work
Drive fell and bent
Pain
But would a USB-C drive work like I could get one from Amazon or something
whatre you dailying rn, just curious
Yeah it should work if the new PC has C also
I wonder how small they can get now that the USB A connector isn't the limiter...
As long as it's not one on the GPU it'll work
Ok
We have a I3-10th gen, 4gb ram, 256gb nvme, and the Intel igpu
oh yea i forgot you mentioned that mb
Ok lemme just order one and wait five days
4gb ram
"we"? you share the PC with someone?
10th gen i3 is a pretty capable cpu when it has more than 4gb ram
It's a work pc
Ouch. Once you're ready you can follow the official guide to make the boot drive. https://ubuntu.com/tutorials/create-a-usb-stick-on-macos#1-overview
Trying to run multiple cloud sync softwares and anti-virus simultaneously
so i assume the company or whatever is gonna pay for the replacement?
keeping the cpu, upgrading to 16gb, and getting a gtx 1080 would be a much better choice
than 5600g and 1050ti
Gonna try to convince them, yeah
dont pay for a replacement out of pocket, that's not your responsibility
a 4gb ram all in one, they really just wanted to manufacture ewaste
probably so people would feel the need to upgrade right away
convince the company to pay for your upgrade by documenting how much 4gb ram slows down your workflow
Ok thanks might as well fix my fans as well it's blowing air in and I have 2 big exhausts in the front
Once you have that on the Linux desktop run this in terminal: smartctl -H /dev/sda
And replace sda with whatever the drive ends up being, probably nvme0 or something. You can find that in gparted.
Ok thanks
Pop the results into chat here and someone will tell you on a scale of one to screwed how bad it is
slap one of these bad boys in there
I wish
lol
def not
model of the board is toward the bottom
yea
thats a board i got with a 7900X for 200 bucks
was a great deal
this was another x299 board i got for 65, then sold for about 200 lol
the intel 7900x yea
Not to be confused with the 7900XT either
tbh, the 7900X > 7900X
All these names gets confusing
Don't forget the Radeon hd 7900 either
Aight last update on the GPU repaste. Full wz2/DMZ run only got my GPU to a maximum of 77 degrees. Down from 85 (or maybe higher, I honestly wasn't paying attention after 85), that's a marketable improvement
nice
Im thinking of using thermal grizzly kryonaut extreme thermalpaste and thermal pads on my 3080 rtx, 5900X, and on my motherboard
Ok yeah i’ll come back with my results later but now on a less serious issue fans to MASSIVE exhaust on the front and on little intake at the top
Should it stay that way or should I change it
X is for subzero cooling
I don't mean the liquid metal
I know
Ok
At ambient temp the extreme is worse than the regular
The extreme exists because it holds up better to liquid nitrogen
Ahh
Now it's not even turning off
Oof
Pain
What paste and pads would you recommend? I am liquid cooling my CPU and GPU was a 360mm radiator and 3x noctura 120mm industrial 3000rpm fans on each radiator
Ok who wants a NEW PC /J
Regular Kryonaut, MX-6, or NT-H2
I'm done with this POS
Gotchya
NT-H1 is acceptable if H2 is out of stock, it's like a 2 degree difference
What about pads?
What does orange light on ROG Strix mean?
Motherboard?
I usually get the thermalright https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B08ZN5WY72
I believe that's DRAM
which light?
Orange light
Placement of said light is important
what did it say on the light
I have a ROG Strix Crosshair VIII Hero
like the placement of the light
I believe it's dram. I could be wrong
On motherboard next to the ram
There's a stack of 4 lights there
Up on a self I can't reach the manual I have a broken leg
"Boot" is expected since you don't have a boot loader atm
which board do you have then?
look into this guide and find which of the 4 leds are on
Since those are out of stock the Gelid are good too https://www.amazon.com/Gelid-Solutions-GP-Ultimate-Installation-Conductivity/dp/B08PKKMX76/
The GP-Ultimate is designed to provide perfect thermal contact to heatsinks when installed on PCB with height differences and uneven surfaces such as power MOSFETs, chipsets, analog ICs, micro-controller units and other high-temperature SMD components. Thanks to its enhanced multilayer matrix, su...
on another note my laptop has been acting weirdly with every boot
i installed an intel wifi card last year
Rog X570
AX200?
has always worked fine, but a few days it tends to boot with the wifi not working
a restart fixes it
nah it's an AC8630
Solution, upgrade to AX200
Oop
which position is the led that's lit is on?
first, second, third or fourth?
I had a gigabyte wifi card that bluescreened my PC and ruined my bios. I had to do a windows reinstall
Hey ralink has been great on my laptop, monitor mode works flawlessly on Kali
it worked great yeah but it was wifi N
2.4 only too
that was the bottleneck for my downloads
now the cpu and hdd are the bottleneck
Mostly hdd
HDD? Not SSD?
nah my cpu is pretty old
HDD are pretty slow
4710hq is at full load under download
im too broke for storage ssd, only got one as boot drive
You should see my Turion 2 P520 struggle to play roll20
It's a dram issue I just looked at the manual but I don't know how to fix it
Silicone Power a55 1TB SSD is 50 usd
Remove ram, try to boot. Boot WILL fail. Turn off, and reseat ram
or running one stick
which kit do you have?
and which slots have you installed them
if you have two, almost all mobos prefer slot a2 and b2
single stick defaults to a2
Ok good now I'm stuck with the stuck in bios issue but I already have a solution
Thanks
i think my works fax machine is dying
maybe thats a good thing
I'm pretty sure ik the issue
so true

Is this worth posting
In deals
Is an oled monitor 1440p 240hz going for 699 right now
What's the original price?
1099
I mean a 30% dip in costs in worth posting I'd say.

Does anyone have a pic of what the pin layout for the gigabyte eagle 6750XT looks like?
Do you mean the power pins it uses or something?
Yeah
The actual slots on the board
Probably 6 & 8
Just google it you'll find a pic
- googles "Pato feet pics" * I'm not seeing anything D:
Pretty sure dough is just eve rebranded, keep in mind, for the previous spectrum monitor, it was a good product in general, but the price went up, it got delayed about a year, and you'd be better off buying something cheaper that fills most of the boxes in general, like this for 430$ for 1440p240:

Asus VG28UQL1A - https://geni.us/N4HJ
MSI MPG321UR-QD - https://geni.us/PjV...
It wasn't a scam and the product was generally fine, just keep in mind their preordering process is kinda crap
And 700$ is still very steep for 1440p240, dunno if just being oled makes it worth that much
The product was generally fine but like most smaller companies the firmware was iffy. I don't know how much has been fixed.
what are the best fans i can get that look good? ik theres delta with their 14k rpm but i want something that looks nice
i was thinking lianli slinf?
What does "look good" mean to you?
It's different for everyone
This guide is pretty good
deepcool fc120 is a new addition too btw
ok
could i use this motherboard? https://pcpartpicker.com/list/YdzzTn
Nope. Wouldn't handle a 13400
Also that motherboard is way way worse than the one I listed
i'm still confused why it says incompatible
It says that for all the 12th and 13th gen chips
It's a bug of the website for the most part
ok
It's basically saying that the bios it comes with will be out of date
But you can fix that by using the motherboard's flash button
To give it a new bios that is up to date
The bios is basically what sits below windows, doing all the legwork to make sure all the parts work together
ok
By updating it, it will recognise what cpu is being put inside it
The bios flash feature of the board means you can do this without paying an extra cent
Other boards without bios flash require an extra cpu to update it, like the DS3H you suggested
So basically a second cpu just to use the pc
Which becomes a pointless endeavour
ok
If it worries you, you can go back to the 12600K but you'll have to downgrade a little bit
But honestly it's as simple as plug a usb in and press a button
ok
All good?
yep

@cerulean snow you're the better danny
😱
Smh not even coping
Look my profile picture right in the eyes and tell me I’m wrong
Bopping for mod
What are peoples thoughts on this build
AMD Ryzen 7 7700x
MSI B650 Tomahawk WiFi6 Mobo
4x16 GB Corsair Vengeance DDR5 5600 Ram
2x1 TB Samsung 980 m.2 SSDs
XFX Radeon RX 7900xt GPU
There can never be enough what do you mean

and too much samsung
real talk tho the build isn't good
don't buy ryzen 7000 unless it's the upcoming x3d models
or you got free ram deal from microcenter
4 sticks on ddr5 is also bad
ssd choice isn't very good
Why is 4 sticks of ddr5 bad? And what ssd would you recommend?
It reduces perf with 4 sticks compared to 2
Also reduces stability in some cases
Gimme your budget for the whole pc and I'll get a quick list put together
4 sticks in a lot of cases struggle to run even decent spec on both amd and intel for ddr5
If you really prefer amd
I would suggest to wait for 3d cache chips
If you want a pc now, Intel is your answer honestly
I'm willing to wait
Then let's talk about this later, prices of stuff could change by then
I have a decent PC now, just looking to upgrade
God, I'm in a dilemma
I'm going to be within 15 miles of microcenter today
I wanna go, but ik it'd be financially inappropriate of me to do so
would you really get that strong an urge to buy something
MC usually doesnt even have super good deals tbh
ebay >

as in?
Broken parts, a box was demolished, ebay wouldn't refund me even with photo proof
when was that? that's very surprising that ebay didnt take your side, like super surprising
Almost a full year ago
There was once that someone put a brick into the box and shipped it
That's why you always film when you open high value items so you can prove the seal wasn't broken and what the contents are. Bonus points for filming installing and testing parts.
Weird but ok. Ebay is usually known for siding with the buyer 99% of the time.
good morning everyone. quick question that I suspect I know the answer to, but need to know for certain:
Is this card a PCIE 16x or 8x? https://www.newegg.com/asus-geforce-rtx-3060-ti-tuf-rtx3060ti-o8gd6x-gaming/p/N82E16814126620?Item=N82E16814126620
It's gen 4 x16
thank you for the confirmation =]
You're welcome
I say buy buy buy
My microcenter is 3 hours away
I guess it's "close"
There's also the fact that there's a warrenty
And it's cheaper than amazon
Only reason I'm going there is I'm not paying for gas
Ik.
I wouldn't call it convenience but yeah
Well I'm in texas
I'm probably closer to A microcenter than 90% of other Americans
One in Dallas, one in Houston here

Only 1 so far
And honestly my 2nd ux seems to be better so idk
I might return it
It's all in the air right now

Nyope
Ye I ordered a 790 and it shipped
Msrp before you wonder how
My memory dum cos ux oc is hell

Well, not really on this second one
Me am smarter

There's a Micro Center near Bellaire if you're in Houston. crappy area but at least it'll solve your problem :) (again, in Houston)
i got a blue screen 3 times im just download some games 😫
his leg
What error codes?
Ok DM me the contents of C:/Windows/Minidump and I'll analyze it

My GPU radiator won't fit the case
It'll fit at the bottom but then it presses right up against where the pins for the case power buttons are blocking me from plugging the power button in
Hi everyone, it is my first time building a gaming pc and I am really unexpert in the topic. I'd like to know if the parts I chose will fit or be compatible with the other parts. I hope someone can help me with this. Here's a link to the parts https://newegg.io/3ecede7
If you have any comments about it, do not hesitate to give me a heads-up. I would like all the help I can get 🙂
hmm
you don't need the windows key and the 3060 is a really bad price let me build you one what is your budget?
between 1500-2000 bucks
is there any color scheme to this build?
looks like its white color scheme
Part List - Intel Core i5-13600K, Radeon RX 6950 XT, Corsair 4000D Airflow ATX Mid Tower
Part List - Intel Core i5-13600KF, Radeon RX 6950 XT, Phanteks Eclipse G360A ATX Mid Tower
this is better tbh
we did about the same build
980 pro is very unneeded
would probably need a firmware update too, since the ssds have been reported prematurely failing
Part List - Intel Core i5-13600KF, Radeon RX 6950 XT, Phanteks Eclipse G360A ATX Mid Tower
or add a little more for 2tb of the same ssd i put in there
get this https://pcpartpicker.com/list/kZf7Nc
Part List - Intel Core i5-13600KF, Radeon RX 6950 XT, Phanteks Eclipse G360A ATX Mid Tower
i was gonna do the 970
meh
and add like a 2tb hdd
970 is good but the price is sad
80?
mp33 is half
whats the difference between i5 and i7?
for 1tb
not much for gaming
the i5 is nearly identical in gaming performance
i have a gaming laptop with i7 but i’m switching to a properly cpu
the 13600kf in itself already has more than enough cores
yeah, but imo i would stick with this
13400 is perfectly fine but the price is similar to 13600kf
what about the difference between ryzen and intel? does it change something for gaming?
nah
no
cause i’ve seen ryzen is cheaper
intel on top
that is slower
oh k k
but amd cards are better price to performance
there is 5800x3d but i wouldn't get it new right now
huh right
it's still 90 bucks of difference
for 4 more cores
thanks for the recommendation i’ll take a look tomorrow morning
Part List - Intel Core i5-13400F, Radeon RX 6950 XT, Phanteks Eclipse G360A ATX Mid Tower
here's 13400f
rommy is right tho
13400f also has more than enough cores
eh i would kinda wanna run 3600c16
but if i was him i would spend the extra to get more cores and threads
but its whatever
10 cores is already too much for gaming
but his budget allows it
doesn't mean he should spend all of it tbh
he siad 2k was max
my 6850k did 1440p somewhat less than perfectly but still well enough
we just gotta let him decide if he wants to spend the extra
Part List - Intel Core i5-13400F, GeForce RTX 4070 Ti, Phanteks Eclipse G360A ATX Mid Tower
this with nvidia gpu
im kinda tempted to sell my pc and build a new one
because i kinda want a 4070 ti
looks cool
Part List - Intel Core i5-13400F, GeForce RTX 4070 Ti, Phanteks Eclipse G360A ATX Mid Tower
wait
pg riptide is still cheaper than the b760
just update bios with flashback and boom
stonks
how much do you think i could get for my pc
uh
something like 1.4k tops i guess
i paid about 1200
1.2 would be more reasonable
for it
do you have a part list? but why would you sell the whole thing
to build a new one
i can get all the parts rq
yes but why is what im asking
so i could get 4070 ti or 4060 ti
🧐
bruh
w
i would just instead proceed to save up for gpu instead of selling a whole pc for one
well i could sell the pc and just save the rest which would be less than saving up for jus tone of the gpus
like the 4070 ti
theeen the rest of the pc gets cheaped out

so you wanna get smth like that
okay now it makes sense
still kinda weird to me to think of it
but if it works it works
ik
yeah kinda weird to sell your whole pc just to get another pc identical to the one you had before
its not tho
but whatever floats your boat
and thats why foxy said, just save for another gpu
thats 800
no need to sell you whole rig.,.. is identical
oh i get it
12600k same as 13400
ik but 4070 ti good
you'd essentially be paying back for same pc
except what changed is that you had extra for gpu
which still sounds similar to saving up normally ya know
i paid 400 for it
yeah well... tech devaluates pal
true
sell pc, you still gotta save up
sell gpu, you also still gotta save up
except the gpu being missing still means you have a working pc
12600k has igpu
not very good but it gets the job done as a placeholder
i do 1440p
you will see almost no improvement there
well, his money anyway
yeah... too much pita when you already have a powerful pc
because the 4070 ti is better than the 6800
40 series is not worth for anyone on 30/6000 series.... plain as that
if you only manage to sell it at 300
my pc cost me 1165.67
keep the gpu and continue enjoying it
and wait patiently for 50 series
i use like a thing called signal rgb its pretty good
yeah i should just save to 5000 or just not buy another gpu and buy other things
but cant have enough pc parts
i wanna see if i cant get my 6700xt fixed
and sell it
im just happy that my 750ti can handle hogwarts
how do you have a 750 ti
gulp
👍
oh also my uncle is sendiing me some pc parts and i think it has a 4770 in it
is it good
or its a 4790k or somthing like that
so im going to try and build a pc with it but the motherboard is super small
below micro atx
is it a good game
there are some limits for cruelty... and then that
i have seen like xqc play it but the start of the story was boring
ill try it this weekend
What GPU water block would y'all recommend
I'm gonna be replacing mine, but don't want to pay $200+ in shipping from Germany
Guessing it's for that 3080 strix and shipping to US?
Mhm
I want to continue to use Alphacool, but....
I'm also thinking of getting a monoblock for my CPU/motherboard
Are you anywhere near a microcenter? They have some in stores
4 hours away, one way
Still closer than my nearest store but we'll call that one a no
Plus like 5 toll roads in and 5 out
Too bad too they have the bitspower block for cheap
I was actually there yesterday
That's where I got my fans and case from
I just didn't expect to run into this issue
Ok I'd either go for the Bykski or the EKWB
https://www.aliexpress.com/i/3256801284446342.html?gatewayAdapt=4itemAdapt
https://www.ekwb.com/shop/ek-classic-gpu-water-block-strix-rtx-3080-3090-d-rgb
EK-Classic GPU Water Block Strix RTX 3080/3090 D-RGB is a high-performance full-cover water block for ASUS® ROG Strix RTX 3080 and 3090 graphics cards.
EK® Classic - Efficient & Timeless
This product is a part of the EK Classic Product Line that is characterized by minimalistic and clean design while maintaining class-leading performance. Less ...
issue i have is ekwb doesnt have my case in the config just yet
my case literally just released
It doesn't really need to be in the configurator, it's just the GPU block
But if you really don't want EK then go Bykski
well, im gonna be replacing everything at this point. so itd be helpful to now how many rads and such...though i might be able to use the 011 case...
If it's one of those O11 clones sure you can probably use the O11 as a template
hmm....corsair doesnt have a render of either
wait..no, they have xl rendered
ok, so ik how to do ekwb now. i can run 3 radiators as long as they are slim.
@potent portal EKWB no longer offers the x570 monoblock. Only x670e
Well they only made so many. It's pretty niche.
Case won't close
Finally got my first PC build all built. With some technical issues lol due to old GPU not working.
Just got to get SSD installed and then I can start installing everything else to start gaming
Nope
Depends on how much value you place on the labor of building it. It's about $150 more than building it yourself.
I built this for 1000 could y’all revamp
Part List - Intel Core i5-13400F, Radeon RX 6700 XT, Phanteks Eclipse G360A ATX Mid Tower
If it needs to get revamped
Is there a site that I can go to to put in a prebuild and look for parts to upgrade it?
Build your own
You can enter the parts you have into pcpartpicker and you can choose and filter parts in there based on your needs
Unless it's a HP or Dell prebuilt in which case you're likely screwed
It’s an acer predator. I was gonna swap out the processor with a water cooler, a gpu, and a better power supply than 500w
That board doesn't have flashback, do you have a 12th gen cpu to flash with?
If not just get the 12600k, it's the same processor effectively
so if i get the same parts i should just build it myself
There's a few edits done here, nothing too major. I ran off the assumption you don't have a way to flash B660/H670 to be compatible with 13th gen. https://pcpartpicker.com/list/FVJ8tn
Part List - Intel Core i5-12600KF, Radeon RX 6700 XT, Phanteks Eclipse G360A ATX Mid Tower
If you're confident you can then there's no reason not to build it yourself. I can put a list together for you with better parts at the same $850 price point too if you want. Even with a white theme if you wanted.
btw iirc the 914 kinda sucks
yes please
that would be great
As long as it's better than the 214 and I don't see how it couldn't be with 2 extra pipes
914 spec says 2200 rpm
id do this if you can go 20 over
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/TpZRmr
Part List - Intel Core i5-13400F, Radeon RX 6750 XT, Fractal Design Focus 2 ATX Mid Tower
Don't do 3600 memory with a 13400, SA is locked so the max it'll do in gear 1 is 3466
my bad then thinking of diff one
oh yeah i originally had 5600 build forgot to swap
Part List - Intel Core i5-13400F, Radeon RX 6750 XT, Fractal Design Focus 2 ATX Mid Tower
Working on it now
okay
Here's what I got for the white theme https://pcpartpicker.com/list/2HV6W4
Part List - AMD Ryzen 5 5600, Radeon RX 6650 XT, Fractal Design Pop Air ATX Mid Tower
White parts do typically cost more
But that build is clearly superior in every way over that prebuilt
i have a whole black theme so
is there a way u can make it with all black or
its fine all white though
aslo
also
@potent portal
wouldnt uh
this be better then this
cause lower cl
in general 3600c18 and 3200c16 have the same equivalent latency, but 3600c18 has higher bandwidth, so 3600c18 is better
that's also 32gb vs 16gb
cause someone told me
LOL i didnt even see that either
there is a performance benefit to 32gb dual rank even if you don't need more than 16gb
someone is wrong
ok thanks
they're correct that you won't notice the difference in speed/cl because xmp sucks regardless
but you're also ignoring the double capacity
and the increased bandwidth
xmp timings kill your bandwidth anyways
but it'll still be a little bit higher yes
in general I wouldn't pay more for 3600c18 than 3200c16, but I would choose the 3600c18 for the same price
in this case the 3600c18 is cheaper per gb so
oh wait this is ryzen
ok yeah 3600c18 just beats 3200c16 by a good amount then
go for the 3600c18
np
Not sure where to put this. So my pc just started doing this it. If it is left on while I go afk for a while it will turn off my screens but they can’t be turned back on. Along with this I can’t turn it off unless I turn the psu off when it does this. It just started doing this two days ago.
Any ideas what could be causing this
Windows being Windows
It's either the GPU drivers or the OS got corrupt
We've got tools to fix both

DDU (Display Driver Uninstaller) Guide by Pato
https://github.com/NeweggTechie/Graphics-cards/wiki/How-to-use-DDU
Awesome I will try these thanks!!
When I reinstall the drives should I still be in safe mode?
No you'll be in regular mode to install the drivers back
Ok awesome thanks
No radiator or reservoir? You'll probably need a few more fittings too
hard tubing is a massive pain if anything goes wrong
Definitely. Having extra of that is great.
also clear tubes mean more times a year cleaning your loop
The distro plate is the reservoir AND pump
Part List - Intel Core i3-12100F, GeForce RTX 2060, Cooler Master TD300 Mesh MicroATX Mini Tower
any thoughts on this (yes I know 12400F is way better but I'm on a budget
)
I'll buy the case and psu here and ship the rest from amazon tomorrow
Part List - Intel Core i3-12100F, GeForce RTX 2060, Thermaltake V150 Tempered Glass ARGB Breeze MicroATX Mid Tower
this case is cheaper and has intake and exhaust fan
Part List - Intel Core i3-12100F, GeForce RTX 2060, Cougar MX330-G Air ATX Mid Tower
if you're spending 65 on a 550W you may as well spend 15 more on a 750W
Ah it's one of those, nice.
Hope you've got your fill and drain system planned out.
im replacing everything so...
Right, but you'll still want a way to pour liquid into the loop that preferably runs through a funnel so you don't spill on your expensive computer. You'll also want a drain port so it's easier to flush your loop when it's time for maintenance.
I would also try to avoid covering ram and reuse your soft tubing for the cpu block if you can
again, hard tubing is a huge pain if something is wrong
if you make it usable to troubleshoot it's leagues easier
Yeah it would suck if you put the CPU block on and all the tubing, filled the loop, and it turns out you need to take the block off because it's on too tight or something
like you can have the cake and eat it too if you are thoughtful enough about it
or mount is terrible, which is not uncommon at all
and then you have to get the mount off without taking the cpu with it

Slightly different topic, should I lap my 5800X. I could get a few more degrees but I'm not exactly hurting for it.
I heard an interesting tidbit Fal
Apparently the coldplate variance on the LF2 is enormous
you using offset mount ye?
Yep
lapping may give a couple more degrees
if you're seeing a little headroom sure
I mean you saw the difference on both my brand new chip and my older alder chip that was warped
can be anything from spectacular to basically nothing and meh
if under full load and unrestricted you're still away from throttling it probably won't do anything tho
just got another ssd, anyone know if i can just add it to my pc that ive been using for a few months now?
yep
if you have a slot for it yep
then it's just a matter of initialising it and turning it into a drive in windows
I'm peaking at 67 running R20 lol, I definitely don't need to but...
run it full tilt and see
try OCCT CPU small fixed 16 threads extreme AVX2
r20 doesn't really measure up the same way
R20 gives a rough estimation of temps during CPU heavy games at least
oh def
I'm def being unrealistic but still
better to overshoot especially if you have the headroom
you'll probably hit the 80's in occt
86
you have almost 10C of headroom tbf tho
If I ever get around to dunking my rad I might lap it then
hmm for cold yeah ok
Anybody have solutions for these two things? When I boot up my new pc it says hdmi input then doesn’t display anything. Also when setting up windows it wants me to connect to wifi or Ethernet but it doesn’t show any options for my wifi
A) running off of igpu or dedicated GPU? B) do you have a wifi card installed?
You might need to install drivers for wifi but if on windows 11 setup you can setup without internet if you do shift + f10 to open the command prompt then type
OOBE\BYPASSNRO
And hit enter, it'll then restart by itself and you can make an offline account
As for the first problem, what's the cpu and do you have a graphics card in the system?
If you have a graphics card make sure the hdmi is connected to that and not the motherboard
Need to decide my parts... I have MSI 4070 Ti Suprim X OC GPU and SilverStone HELA 850R PSU. Trying to future proof as much as possible. Need everything else lol. Right now its in a locked Legion T5 w/ a 10th gen i7-10700 and 16GB DDR4 UDIMM dual channel 3200 (Capped at 2933 from MB) RAM, 150W Air Cooler. I replaced my 1660 Super for the 4070 Ti Suprim X and replaced FSP Gold + 650 non-modular PSU for the Silver Stone HELA 850R Cybernetiks Titanium ATX 3.0 PCI Gen 5 Fully Modular with built in 450W 16 Pin Nvidia Connector so I don't have to have 3 8Pins going to a 3X 8Pin to 16pin Nvidia adapter cable. It's a direct connection now up to the 450W with a single cable from PSU to GPU. I am having a difficult time deciding what to get because of the new hardware being released constantly.
I just installed 5700x to asrock x570 phantom gaming 4 wifi but cpu and dram led lights staying on and not booting
I5 13600k is probably way to go
Personally I'd consider waiting til next gen for cpus if you're not absolutely itching to upgrade or at least wait til the ryzen 7000 x3d chips come out
Probably replace case if it's the case I think it is
Did you update the bios
Yeah tried few bios versions
Oh forgot to clean cmos
Not worked again
I hate asrock mobos
Can anyone help me find some more possible solutions for screen freezing on my Dell pc?
I've got a dell venue 11 pro 7140, nice tablet but lately the screen is starting to freeze randomly and I necessarily have to force it to turn off to be able to use it again
Just freezes. The last frame it was showing and it stays like that forever. However it looks like it responds to keyboard commands (I tried alt+f4 + ↓ and pressed enter and the system did reboot).
I've saw many people with this same problem and everyone said either intel rapid storage techn. or panel self refresh (intel hd graphics) was the problem, tried both but nothing...
I updated the bios... Nothing...
I'm trying to update most drivers but since it freezes I can't do much (+ slow connection doesn't help for the download)... What else should I try? Bios settings: there's nothing that helps with the screen. Firmware? Idk... Slowly update all drivers?
I'm also thinking abt reinstalling windows but that would be the last solution I'd like to get to
- this freezing doesn't occur in bios or boot so it's all about the os I guess (no hardware problems)
" hope I don't have to return this "
howdy yall. is there anyway to get a keyboard and mouse to sync with Asus Aura? That does not mean sync with the keyboard and mouse like Razer does. I want Asus's adaptive color that syncs with video output, but want that to extend to my peripherals too. Would be great if anyone had insight the Googles does not... ty
The keyboard and mouse would need to support Asus aura first
For some reason the freezing occurs more frequently if I don't leave the pc turned off for "long enough"...
Basically: pc freezes/crashes, i force it to turn off, restart it one second after and the freezing will reoccur within few minutes
But if I leave it off for like 5 mins the freezing will reoccur after 10/15 or even 30 mins later...
And btw it doesn't always respond to keyboard input when it crashes
Maybe some temperature sensor "locks" the pc to prevent "damage" when it reaches a certain temp?
It’s not letting me type in the command prompt? Any ideas?
It’s letting me type in now but OOBE/BYPASSNRO isn’t recognized
what happened after you type that and hit enter?
any sort of "invalid command" or something?
It says it doesn’t recognize it as an internal or external command operable program or batch file
My chrome is using like 500 MB to 1GB running is that bad 😭
I have 32 GB so it isn't really affecting anything
But with one tab I'm at 600 MB usage
thats normal on chrome, like every additional tab use between 200-400Mb
and the first tab is like 500 alone
Thought the jokes were an exaggeration 😢
with 32 gigs i shouldnt worry that much
not like you run 30+ tabs and your favorite game on top of it
Usually you have to press into it
It is windows 11 not 10 you're installing yes?
I got it booted up and everything now I’m just trying to connect to wifi
I got it to work
Ah okay
I just can’t seem to connect to wifi
You might need to download drivers from a different device and usb transfer them to get your wifi running if Windows doesn't pick up a driver
Hm
(assuming your motherboard even has wifi/you have a wifi card in the pc)
Yeah my motherboard has wifi
Positive?
In that case go to the motherboard website -> support
Then there should be drivers there for wifi
is this good: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/XnbLmr I have already bought the psu and will buy other parts tmr.
Part List - AMD Ryzen 5 5600, Radeon RX 6700, Cougar MX330-G Air ATX Mid Tower
looks good
awesome. i’m excited to buy and build. it’s my first pc
good luck
best gpu for 1440p gaming
what budget or bottom line
4090
why my 7600x hitting 91c with 360 aio lol
probably bad mount
oh well also just remembered the 7000 cpus are supposed to just use as much power as they can til they hit 90c iirc
boost speed is weird at those cpus lol it idling at 5.3ghz but slowing down under load lol
uwu
I just heard a loud pop from my desktop and it shut off. Now it won’t turn on but my PC monitor still gets power to turn on
Did my power supply explode or did something else happen
That’s pretty weird. How come my monitor is still able to turn on tho if the power is dead?
Unplug everything from the PSU and grab a paperclip. Flip the switch on the back of the PSU to off. Put paperclip in these 2 pins, and flip switch to on. See if the fan spins.
Which 2 pin? And this is to see if the PSU is working if the fan is working?
Mine is fully modular. So I still keep the big cable plugged in?
If the fan spins then the unit itself may still be good if you're lucky. If not it's dead dead.
Yes
Don't try to turn the pc on again with it plugged in, it could cause further damage
Dang I thought sea sonic supply are supposed to last long
Monitor gets power since it has its own wall plug
Seasonic normally does have good psus, but they also have some bad ones
And model matters more than brand
Seasonic has ones like the focus gold, and then the s12iii
If it does die, how likely is it to kill my pc components with it
Depending on the quality, how bad the spike was and what you were running, I can tell you with confidence, absolutely no idea
Depends on the model, and how lucky you are
I give it a 25% chance something died if the unit is totally dead
I was playing hearthstone and suddenly a loud pop
Most common thing I've seen go is SSDs
Oo sounds like a transient death
If it has good protections, which seasonic generally does, odds are the unit killed itself before much if not everything else got damaged
I dont know of any semi recent seasonic units that have bad protections
Yeah if the unit is good and wasn't grossly underspec
Do you know the model of the psu?
It'll also say on the PSU itself
Yeah, on the side
Focus GX 650
What cpu and gpu
Ryzen 7 3700x 5700 XT
What’s that
Eh nvm looked up the 5700xt wattage
Gold or bronze?
Gold
Odds are its just the psu dead then
That's definitely A tier then
Yea that’s why I got it cause reviews say it’s reliable
Falcie
But then it just went pop
Just bad luck if it's dead. If you're lucky it was short circuit protection and can be fixed when the short is removed.
rip
Good psus like that have built in protections in case things like this happen
So just buy a new power then?
Which is why its a good idea to buy a reliable unit, like you did
Yo
one sec I wanna restart my pc rq
Yeah, or could probably have seasonic replace it on warranty
cause my games are stuttering
I just ddued 2 days ago
these drivers have been terrible to me ever since I got my card
Oh I never once shipped something in my life so idk how this works
They'll either send you a shipping label or the address to send it to. Just put it in a box following their instructions on what to include in the box.
Biggest problem is I have an exam on Monday so this needs to be resolved now. What luck I have
Once you test the PSU you can grab a new one from best buy if you need to
Then when you get the replacement unit from seasonic, sell it
I’m gonna open my pc now and check. Give me a bit
Make sure the hybrid mode switch is on cooling mode or the fan won't spin even if it's good
I'm feeling like there's some sort of conflict of drivers or a background program
Even windows update can cause that
I just ddued
yeah ik
I have no windows update currently besides it wanting me to upgrade to win11
I finally reached Samsung support holy crap they make that really hard
no programs in the background also @potent portal besides discord
should I turn hardware acc on?
There's ways to find out without a doubt if it's a background program or service.
Disable all your startup items in task manager. Then in services tick "hide Microsoft services" and disable everything that's not critical.
Also @potent portal I checked my SSD and it's dead so I had to file a claim but they make that near impossible took me the whole day just to reach support
Yeah sounds about right for any company TBH
Took me ages to get my motherboard RMA
Do I really have to unplug everything to test? Some of the cables just won’t pull out
As long as the cable isn't connected to something
So you can unplug the PCIe power from the GPU instead for example
Falcie
I have like no angle to grip these cables
Oh that works then
I don’t have to pull from the unit itself yet
I disabled most of the stuff
I had almost all of that on enabled
I'd always close more than half of it as soon as my pc started but ye
Razer 💀
?
It's known for causing issues
I only have razer synapse not the whole game boosting crap and other stuff tho ;\
Same diff
Disable it while you're testing at least
ok
Now when the SSD comes here I have to REMOVE the GPU which that's risky because it already has a chipped pin
Pain
Chipped pins are fine. My GPU has 3.
falcie
Oh nvm then
do you know what RZsurroundhelper is?
It sounds like that razer surround I had before but I deleted that
Worst case on pins is you lose a PCIe lane but you have plenty of bandwidth still
Oh ok
Some programs leave things behind when you uninstall
ok so I can disable it then
Yep
should I restart my pc once more now that stuff is disabled?
My power test adventure interrupted by dinner. BRB for a while
@potent portal haven't restarted yet but I have synapse closed and my game seems to be fine so far
I need to try rocket league tho cause that's where it was the worst
Hot tip, use revo uninstaller next time to uninstall programs
Deep search option
?
What Revo uninstaller does is scan for files, registry entries, scheduled tasks, etc associated with a program before running the uninstaller. Then after the uninstaller runs it scans again for things that got left behind.
Any tips on how to unplug the giant motherboard connector? I noticed there’s a clip but idk how to undo it
Pull it straight out while holding onto the clip
Do I press the clip near the top or near the bottom close to the motherboard ?
Press it near the top
Am I allowed to hold on to the paper clip with my bare hands when I turn the power on
Ok going to assume big no
vertical mounts my CPU
Ok PSU isn’t turning on when I did the paper clip test
Officially dead

Time to research how RMA works
It’s more like I never shipped something before so idk which box size and how much cushioning to use
You still have the packaging?
Usually for rma you need to ship in the original box that came with the psu
Ok
Put it in the box, get a slightly bigger box, fill empty space with newspaper or packing paper
Does UPS provide free tape?
I think sea sonic said I have to pay for shipping too
do I just pay that upfront at UPS?
Mhm
Pretty lame considering this isn’t even my fault
but eh
At least I get a free replacement
That's why I use Amazon and test when I get it...next day or same day(depending on delivery time) warrenty return for free
This PC was built in 2020

it be looking fine.
