Not if you already own the corsair ram
k
If it's working fine its fine
But they sometimes ship kits out with a very basic issue
That no company should ever have an issue with
which is?
Mixing dies in the same kit
oh
Which would cause it to not even run xmp
lmao
Failing to run even remotely well as a result
A lot of bottom bin rubbish goes into Corsair ddr4, don't believe their marketing
It's a fairly small percentage of kits compared to the total amount, but way bigger than it should be
I'd say a few % of their ddr4 kits
Like 2-4%
thanks for the info!

Which is way more than quality control issues
any other aios that I should go with?
Ek basic 360 is a nice price
imma check what fits in my case
Liquid freezer ii, EK aio, or lian li galahad
I'd recc atleast 280mm if going for an aio
240 is just a waste
are they short ish? a few months ago i bought a corsair aio and it wouldnt fit in the case with the ram in
This would be specifically for the 13600K, the other two cpu's wouldn't need it I imagine
had to return
What case do you have?
@hasty cove hit me with your problem
So basically I’m dumb
And idk where my cables go
I certainly don’t wanna break any of the pins
Motherboard manuals often give diagrams so you can discern between cables and plugs
I have a B550M pro - vdh Wi-Fi msi motherboard if that helps
I would take to time to read the manual my guy
Msi is especially helpful for defining which plugs and cables
You can send me pics of the cable ends and I'll tell you which to look for in the manual if you want
The manual will tell you where it goes
bruh they give warrenty for RAM BOXES
Corsair Carbide Series Spec Omega RGB
https://www.corsair.com/us/en/Categories/Products/Cases/Carbide-Series-SPEC-OMEGA-RGB/p/CC-9011140-WW
Yes for royal kits
royals must be special
They are
I will
If you've had them, they come in a nice kit
I don’t seem to have image perms
Oh no problem
Ah
Thanks
Then I would get the ak620
What's a model number
is that an air cooler?
if so is that fine with the 13600k?
It is, just not for serious overclocking
Out of the box the 13600K is pulling over 200W
Which is awesome, it'll stay under control on an AK620
Yes, it's an air cooler
But you'll saturate the heatsink fast
It won't handle overclocking much, as Felix is saying
i've got no clue how to overclock yet, so i wouldnt do it right away
Ye
I can agree with this
My 280mm keeps my 13600k at 80 celsius with a bit of an undervolt
Thank you all for the help! I really appreciate it.
I'd leave it alone unless you experience flickering or stuttering
is skytech finally doing an okay build
That looks like a P500a interesting
Yeah it's a P500a, didn't even rebrand it. Parts seem great but we all know they'll still forget to click a plug in and burn someone's house down with that 4090.
Also wtf is up with that "power bar" that's a BS guess if I ever saw one. No way a 13900k/4090/32gb build is only better than 94% of rigs.
Based on timespy scores, maybe 94 is just conservative?
That build actually looks good in pics
I'd only worry about which prime p that was
And the psu
No it just looks like a BS guess because that's the current best parts you can get that less than 1% of gamers own
Their high end builds have always been ok, just overpriced
It's not saying the ram speed either
tbf on ddr5 that doesn't matter
I doubt the psu is good
yea
WAIT let me see revieiws
Kinda does if I'm spending this much tbh
The reviews are irrelevant for the most part
I'd rather some nice hynix, not some base bin 4800 micron
Unless they specify what exact part smthn is, then it may be helpful
Skytechs customer support is still ass
I'm 95% sure they have two people on the entire team
jason S bought one
What's the link to that pc @analog pulsar
I called 6 times and got the same two people in California all 6 times
That, looks almost COMPLETELY different
Different board, ram, gpu model
Kingston fury tho so he likely got hynix
its all based on whats available
most prebuilts dont come with said mobo bc if they run out
Heyyy toughpower gf3 is in there
@mossy venture toughpower gf3 1200 psu
Noisy A tier
you see the aio stucking up haha
Atx 3.0 native
nice its sli

Yes sli
Ngl that customer pic
I'd probably sell the board, put a nice pro z690-a in and call it a day

Sad that it's dead tho
That's normal isn't it
is it?
24 pins have a reserved pin I thought?
oh
I have one of those
That's your issue and not the cable running over the ram lighting?
Not that
The USB
Doesn't matter usb or 24pin, What I'm saying is you care more about those sticking up than a cable running across a lighting element?
Idc I have to take it all apart anyway
Seems pointless to me
Confirmed 3Dmark has a 13900k/4090 average score listed as 32853 so wegg has it over 800 points lower for some reason
I don't use that cooler master thing anymore cos my cables are neat
Almost 900
When I change back cpus the cable will be moved back into iys right place
Again, seems pointless to me
Wym
You don't gain anything except a fatter plug for the mobo connector
Hm
Probably mobo
The mobo is easy enough to make cheap and people wouldn't understand
Nah it doesn't say they actually tested it, wegg says it's an estimate
Oh i c
But their estimate is wrong
They already have the disclaimer that says that though
Maybe it was lower at the time they put it out?
People be tunin their chips faster
Zoom zoom

Sure but saying it's 94th percentile is still wrong either way, 3Dmark says a 32k score is 99th
5% of gamers is rather significant yes
So , this is a regular bend?
yes
Oh
You won't have those cables with 4090
There are no rgb cables like that for 4090 lol
XTX you can have them tho
Are you sure I thought they came out with something
I don't recall
Then again
I find those cables cringe
So maybe I missed a 12vhpwr one

How dare you
I'm gunna plug these into my 8pin to 16 pin
Yea but I don't feel like dealing with amd and there stupid drivers
I can't even play warezone 2 bc drivers are unstable with my 6600
Sounds like you're shilling
Boi

huh
I am here to become you
@earnest olive @cyan ravine would one of you guys like to do a brain scan do i can get to be more like you
why would you want to be me
Yes because that's how it works
pick someone better
pretty pc
sorry ive been playing to much prey game
They work with neruo stuff
Like you shove neroumod into your eye and it remaps your brain
Bios trying to push 5GHz on my brothers air cooled i5 8th gen cpu
I have no idea how
Crazy thing is it actually boots
How do I turn it down?
With asus in there target mhz means it's gunna make cpu run that no matter what
What
Idk thats what happened with my 11900k
Asus mobo gave it a set frequency and it would just stay that nit go up or down
I figured it out
Somehow he had turbo mode turned on which has it set to always run at the max the CPU silicone can handle
I turned it off and now it's running 3.6ghz
Oh
I think we should count our blessings that it was actually able to boot windows and load up applications at 4.9ghz on an air cooler
That's got to be a record....
all it did was boot?
I mean it's fine, the cpu would self manage the temps
Booted up Minecraft....
willing to bet it crashed under load
1.320V it says
Apparently
does minecraft crash or lag spike?
It was running at the same speed my 5900x, liquid cooled, runs at max...but his was more stable
Nope
2 different architectures
He even joined a voice call on discord too
sounds stable to me
Ghz is not relative in this discussion
His is older.....I figured mine would be more stable
stability is relative
especially considering the fact that some chips are dog crap, and some are golden
So we won the silicon lottery with his chip is what I'm hearing?
Same with Minecraft lol
But no clock watchdog bsods means it was at least able to run
If not, then no
Not stable
Nope, no bsod at all
occt is good for stability testing
You could stick a 280 LF2 on it for $50 and find out how good it is
it will alert you when errors occur
Honestly, I'm just surprised it didn't thermal throttle with an air cooler
A be quiet cooler
Drp4?
hmmm
dark rock is p good generally speaking
It was likely fine lol
Discord and minecraft wouldn't push it anywhere near 100%
Bleh I see a prime z390
you mean you dont run 1.9V on all yuour chips?
weird
🗿
My whole family has been running Vengeances for years with no issues
Must feel weird living in the realm of abandonware
With XMP turned on
far has hwbot syndrome dont listen to him
And see I myself, have been fine with vengeance, but I have troubleshooted too many bad vengeance ddr4 sticks in my time to say I ever trust them
thats a good way to put it
im gonna use that from now on
"HWBot Syndrome"
Must be pretty terminal to be using this stuff
bruh

believe it or not i own ddr4
a total of 80GB or something
Less than me then
Still less
All of my builds run 32GB

Laptop or desktop
Which sticks?
they're gskill ares
Ahhh makes sense
Ares looks awesome
i got into PCs in 2016 or so
actually
Only ddr3 I ran was for my first laptop. They were Vengeances
Are these A0 b ded far?
it was Spicer
yes.
hmm?
i like to take pictures of all my benching hardware
Spicer benched these
goes in my spreadsheets
and that's how I know the binning results
I was also there when he did it so I trust him lmao
They should go higher.
How about you try rubbing fingers in the ram slots
Ah I'm not far off
Imagine that companies sell product testers the WORST binned parts they have on hand...
b die requires maxmem at those voltages
keep in mind
?
I'm joking
I know A1 and A2 go to the moon but A0 walls off a bit early

Oh i c
The new board that's going into bros pc
it took us years to confidently say "wow A0 actually walls pretty early"
Supposedly A3 is actually really really good
time to PCB-swap my dimms
F0 best PCB tbh
When was A3 out?
circa 2020-2021
Hmm
I wish my gskill pi's werent garbo lol

this is all you need to know:
gonna take off the hS?
@cyan ravine what capacity are your elites
Nah just see if it's 1 sided
16gb per stick
You should be able to get ranks from CPU-Z
I see motherboards
the best motherboards
I'm excited for tomorrow
They look old
lol
8gbit
How so?
You don't even know what I have lmao
I'm getting the last of my watercooling parts tomorrow
better socket, better components, better design all together
i dont need to know, i know my beautiful x79 boards are superior
idk how long it's gonna take for me to assemble this though
probably a LONG time
these are pictures from last night
the GPU side looks nice
yea but no quad channel
the other side is a bit of a trainwreck
Gpu saggin
GPU isn't sagging
nah
Angle my dangle
Oh no your hand just angle
apparently my axevir dimms are actually MFR which is nice @heady kayak
My main concern is going to be fitting the res into the case
I'm also scared that FedEx might've lost it
I will not be using very nice words if FedEx actually lost the package
a cable I ordered off amazon got kinda lost
the problem is
I know where my package is, kinda
It's stuck at an airport lmao
FedEx is a very big reason why that airport is still open I'm pretty sure
I'm impatient but like
usually packages move a lot quicker through Dulles
Hehe
Well it is peak now
It just started like last week
We got a crap ton of trailers now to the point we can't get the work done
flying into Dulles is always kinda amusing tbh
So your package might just sit there
because it's a major hub for multiple shipping carriers
so you see DHL, FedEx, and UPS jets
meh, it'll probably arrive on time
If it's FedEx don't rely on it lol
Anyone have a 4TB nvme SSD recommendation?
M.2 or sata? Sata is a lot cheaper right now
Oh nvm MP34 is only $30 more than MX500
The MP34 high-speed solid-state drive from TEAMGROUP supports the new generation of PCIe Gen3 x4 high-speed interface and the latest NVMe1.3 protocol. The superior performance allows sequential read/write speed to reach up to 3,500/2,900 MB/s. It is much more efficient for booting, loading games,...
Solid m.2, would it be good enough as a main drive or should I go Sabrent or WD
It's fine as a main drive tbh, B tier and all.
Higher tier drives might get you a couple seconds of Windows load time but negligible game load time
Going mini itx, going to grab 4tb m.2 nvme and at least 4tb sata SSD.
MX500 is decent right now https://pcpartpicker.com/product/p7nypg/crucial-mx500-4-tb-25-solid-state-drive-ct4000mx500ssd1
Sequential Read/Write performance reaching up to 560/530 MB/s provides best in class performance via the SATA interface. Accelerated read performance up to 13% faster than 860 QVO for added benefits for everyday computing. 870 QVO provides adequate amount of TBW for daily use, equivalent to 3 bit...

Help turn on my pc,fan on, but no display, periphral mouse keyboard etc didnt turn on,
Clear your cmos first
It says Intel but applies to all
Also make sure the display cable is plugged into the gpu and not the motherboard
Thinking forward. I dont want an HDD.
thinking forward?
no
think now
buy what you need now, and by the time 8tb of ssd actually becomes useful, it will be significantly cheaper
an 8TB hdd will run you like a hundred bucks
and this notion that HDDs are "old tech" is complete nonsense
significantly more technologically advanced than nand flash and a controller pasted onto a pcb
Hdds are good for mass storage but when all you might have is a tb or 2 why not just ssd tbh
Yes i concur
at least half a TB of ssd is mandatory for any system build
for any reason
after that its p much speccing storage based on use case
I’m fine with 512 nvme
I have 3tb SSD but if I was more responsible I could pretty easily get by with 2
2TB ssd is good for call of duty and stuff then a hard drive is good for extra games
How many call of duties are you playing to require a 2tb ssd entirely for call of duty
I have warzone, warzone 2, 400gb of bo3, and bo4 on a single 1tb drive
I have my os, overwatch 2, warzone, csgo, fall guys, cod cold war and other things and I'm not even close to using 1tb
I'd be fine with a single 2tb drive
I've got 5.5tb and I use maybe 2tb, but a lot of that is stuff I don't play anymore
If the ssd I bought from Walmart is the 1tb one, I might get rid of my hdd
I'll put my os on my 660p and just use my sata ssd and the nv2 as game storage

Help when i turn on my pc,fan on,loud gpu fan spin, but no display, periphral mouse keyboard etc didnt turn on,
I've done changing hdmi cable, unplug and plug gpu and ram, only windows ssd, but still cant even boot to bios
Is there a red light on anywhere on the motherboard
Did you try clear cmos like it was recommended earlier?
Is clear cmos mean remove and put the cmos battery back?
Yes
Yeah but pc has to be unplugged and you needa wait like 5 mins
Im so sorry but my motherboard is cheap tier so no light
Don't apologize, it's fine
After doing cmos properly like pato is saying, make sure the ram is fully in the slots
Has the pc worked before, or was it just built/bought?
Wait so first i need to unplug psu power cable, remove cmos battery, wait 5 min,put it back and, turn on pc?
Yes
Yes that's what it says in the link that was sent to you earlier
My pc is absolute no issue at all before and ihavent use it for a week or so,and this happen
Ok removing the cmos now
i thought there gonna be a beep sound when ur pc have issue
That hasn't been a thing since before windows 7
So in windows 10or11 no beep?
well i hope my pc part is ok,gonna be sad if my gpu failing
it's not tied to operating system
you can even get those beeps on z790 and x670e
with any operating system you want
windows 11
hannah montana linux
it's a little something called bios speaker
they just used to come as bundled accessories like sata cables do now, some cases actually still bundle them, I have one laying around
its still loud gpu fan,and no display oh god idk what to do
modern motherboards still have the header to connect them if you feel so inclined
loud gpu fan and no display is often a sign of dead gpu
^
I'd test it in another system if you have access to one
or if your cpu has integrated graphics try booting without graphics card
would try reseating the gpu first
he already did apparently
clean the pcie contact pins
remove the graphics card and try again
it suddenly happening makes me suspect the pcie slot got dirty
no bios at all dank
boot with no graphics card
Still no display, and i have igpu
Even cant even load the bios
ah, it's something else then
cpu and ram failures are pretty rare, might be failed mobo
I only put cpu,memory2stick,ssd(windows),gpu/igpu
i try the removing ssd still loud gpu
ok i try wml
No display
try the other stick of ram
But the case fan and the cpu fan run fine
Okay
it's most likely board failure
no display
yeahh
did you happen to update the bios recently?
maybe you updated to one that dropped support for your current cpu
Yes i update the bios
what cpu and what board
But,i check that its support the sec gen ryzen 3 2200g
what board
Asrock a320m
yeahh you messed up
But it was alright for years
"*ASRock do NOT recommend updating this BIOS if Pinnacle, Raven, Summit or Bristol Ridge CPU is being used on your system."
2200g is raven ridge
then probably just a board failure
why is still running for year after i update the bios
Maybe
sounds like dead board
If i go to local store they probably say memory and storage and motherboard fail lmao
and they'd probably charge you for simple diagnosis
man what happen if i bought new board and this issue still appear lol
i wonder how much local stores charge for diagnosis
considering how thrilled people are to pay me $100 for it
Depend on folk looks
i got into pcs in the first place because my local store was charging too much for stuff
now i'm their competition
it's possible since new bios will likely drop support for older ryzen
ey what about the psu??
i doubt it
you're clearly getting power to the board so
it still turns on, meaning the psu is very likely fine
probably not
But, if the motherboard dead then why my fan spin
dead motherboard can still work, but not boot
motherboards are very very complicated things
the power to the fans might work while something else doesn't
No wonder why its called motherboard
motherboards have multiple layers with many tiny wires on each layer
and you can have a failure in any wire in any layer
should i remove and put the cpu back ?
wait i forgot to say, the restart button and the power button is not turning off the pc,but only turn on
That's how it is, you have to hold to turn it off
that's normal for a boot fail, you need to hold power to turn it off
It's got no OS
Holding down the power button sends a signal to turn off
sometimes even holding doesn't work and you just need to switch off the psu
board ded
Thats what i do,switching off the psu,is it harm to psu
no
nah
i just wanna to make sure my board is 100% dead
In my experience it is the case
I managed to kill mine by accident, somehow scratched it deep enough it refused to work
Had warranty on it so I went ahead and rma it
i remember ihave this issue before the loud gpu fan but i only hold the p button and turn the pc on again, and it boot up
The board scratched ? how ?
Scratched it with the gpu's bracket lol
It was a pretty deep one, I can see the wires inside
the only way to be 100% sure is to try another board
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/x87Fhk
Would I need a new case for this build so far? In the notes section it suggests the gpu might block a few hdd bays
Part List - Intel Core i7-13700K, GeForce RTX 4080, Fractal Design Meshify 2 Compact White TG Clear Tint ATX Mid Tower
wait does mold kill board?
Cause i see green things in this board
bruh why is your mobo moldy
Im sorry ,can i dm u the board picture?,
just post it here
Wait u can post pic
...yes?
Didn't I make you a list last night?
bruh
@wooden spoke https://pcpartpicker.com/list/HvPknt do this instead
Part List - Intel Core i7-13700K, GeForce RTX 4090, Fractal Design Meshify 2 Compact White TG Clear Tint ATX Mid Tower
better and cheaper
your list won't even turn on
Yeah I hadn’t picked a power supply or cooler yet
prime z690-a does not have bios flashback
Won’t it work with the 13th gen cpus with a bios update?
i mean if you really want to go buy a 12th gen cpu just to update bios sure go ahead
LOL
just use the list i sent you it's better in every way
Ooh, didn't know there was a white ls720
Cheapest in stock is I think 1800
still worth waiting for a 4090 instead of buying a 4080
Point made though
Wait so the asus prime z690 won’t work with the 13700k?
Or better yet used 3080 or 6800xt/6900xt
it will IF you manage to update the bios
so you need to buy a 12th gen cpu just to update the bios
It would work, but you would need a 12th gen cpu to update the bios
Ohhhhh
Because tou won't be able to turn the pc on before the bios are updated
Dumb lmao
not all boards allow you to update bios without a cpu
Thank you guys
so you either need to choose a Z690 that has bios flashback or a Z790 that supports it out of the box
i am currently running my 13700K on a Z690
I'm running my 13600k on the same z690
Is there any asus z690 board that has flashback?
Asus makes surprisingly mid boards for the price, or just overpriced boards
Buying based off of brand is almost always a bad decision
I mean look at corsair, one of the most popular choices yet half their products are mid asf
Logitech too, just good marketing
but if you insist on asus z690, then you're better off just buying a 12th gen celeron
their cheapest board with bios flashback is more expensive than prime z690 + celeron
lmao
embarrassing that they advertise bios flashback as a feature on a $300 board
that's not a feature, that's a bare minimum expectation
Ahh good points, definitely gonna consider other boards, I just like their design/look/Rgb
looks similar enough to me
Not like you'll see the chipset cover under the GPU anyway
That board looks pretty cool actually.
You got a point there haha
Would the Rgb software used to control everything be from asrock? Or could use any software given it’s all addressable
You'd have to use either the one from the manufacturer or openrgb
now i use openrgb on my msi pro z690-a ddr4
That 4090 isn't in stock it's pcpp misreading notify now as buy now on asus
Gotcha, I’ll have to look in to asrock’s software
yeah we've been over that
just get a used 3090ti if you want 4080 performance and don't want to wait
Would do this
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/vD6f4s
Part List - Intel Core i7-13700K, GeForce RTX 4080, Phanteks ECLIPSE G500A DRGB ATX Mid Tower
otherwise the 4090 is worth waiting for
i can't recommend a 4080
also i saw something about 4080 price dropping once 7900xtx launches
sounds plausible
it definitely needs a price drop
then again, nvidia has just been comically evil lately
gtx 1630
4080 12gb
4080 16gb
3060 8gb

Their greed is showing
we all knew they were greedy but they took it to new levels recently
3060ti g6x too
F'ing 3060 8gb that's the same price for 30% lower performance
In some games yeah, average is about 20%
is it
3060ti g6x exists
3060ti g6x isn't a worse card than 3060ti g6
it isn't ye
ig it depends on the pricing
i don't think it's same perf
Price/perf will be worse ofc
the bandwidth is the same
G6X version has more cores
there are benchmarks of it matching or beating 3070 in some cases
we should see like 10% increase
hm, that sounds reasonable
if it's priced the same as g6 3060ti that would be cool
beats 3070 in god of war
same vram amount as 3070
tied in witcher/rdr2
so amount ain't an issue
it's higher bandwidth than the 3070
nvidia repurposing stuff moment
so you see it doing better in games that like memory bandwidth
3070 and 3060ti both have 448 GB/s bandwidth
3060ti g6x is 608 GB/s
it also gets a pretty large gain in 3dmark
g6x on laptop when
lmao, asus 3060ti g6x product page doesn't show TGP in "tech specs"
Like 60 euro just to do with euro being 1.05x usd now
I like this build, I haven’t heard of PNY for gpu’s so not too sure I’d stick with that part. Is there any fractal cases that are white and would work with those same components, also, any reason to go with gskilk over Corsair for ram?
what's the point of having a "tech specs" page if you're going to leave important specs out
6000mhz ram is a lot faster than the , and pny do decent gpus
Why you want fractal so much? But if you do the meshify 2 should fit
I saw this too, likely gonna wait a bit before purchasing, I had an abs prebuilt for like a year then it started crashing on all games, so did an RMA and have $3200 CAD store credit to use
Pny is rhe biggest aib manufacturer for nvidia, as they make all of their workstation shrouds (maybe most, but a very large amount at the minimum)
I honestly just love their design, but to be honest I haven’t looked around too much for cases
i mean
Oh damn, didn’t even know that existed
at least preferring a specific brand makes more sense for cases than some other components
^
There's usually decent case from every brand
Or at least one that's not total crap
If you're going to wait no point in making a list now anyway
Did I not make you a Canada list last night
Not really sure how 4080 behaves power wise, so might need a 1000w instead of an 850
https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/list/Hwwb6r
Part List - Intel Core i7-13700KF, GeForce RTX 4080, Fractal Design Pop XL Air ATX Full Tower
40 series transients are much lower than 30 series in general
sounds like something you could google before recommending a waste of money
4080 has the same tdp as the 3080 but with lower transients
True, but man said he wants a 4080. Last night when I made a list within budget with a 4090 he said he didn't want it
So I made him one with the 4080.
I did say might tbf, I figured someone else would give input on if it's needed or not
well the number is readily available
So is input from other people
🤦♂️
Sips I said might because I didn't know, I didn't tell him to get a 1000w. If he were to buy one just off that it's not my issue
the amount you're typing about this vs typing "4080 tdp" into google
The amount you're typing about this vs just typing "4080 is fine on an 850"
And then everything afterwards
The entire conversation could have ended with that single sentence
the entire conversation shouldn't have happened lol
Whatever sips, you always have to be right. You can't just give information you have to show that you know more than the person you're telling
Even 4090s are fine on 850watt
I know they're fine on an atx 3.0 850, but not sure about with a 2.0
Haven't seen anything about that
No they are fine
It's ok for pre-3.0 units too
Atx 3.0 is literally about doing double the rated excursions iirc
Like a 850watt has to do like 1600watt spikes
To clarify, decent units that you would have wanted with a 3080 to begin with
Something like a rm850x ig
Yep most A tiers like that
Even the ones that had transient issues before because 40 series has less transients
lol ok
it's literally 2 seconds to google
you don't even need to open a link
less work than finding a 1000w psu to recommend
just don't know why you would decide not to google this number
difference between tdp and what it will actually pull, atleast it was with 30 series
Even the cxf is more then fine
I didn't know 4080 also didn't spike like 30 series, idk what you want from me
yes, so i answered that
then you were the one who started going on about not caring about the base tdp
which is easy to google
yo can anyone help me with putting windows on my computer
ok sips
install windows to a usb drive, turn the pc on, go into bios, set the usb as first in boot priority
how do i set it as the boot priority
depends on what brand your mobo is
MSI
might have to click and drag it
clicking and dragging did the trick
you shouldn't need to even set boot priority if it's a new drive
but should i be dragging it left or right 0-0
bios will not find boot manager on drive then go search for any other bootable media
do i like turn it off and on again?
should be a save and exit button top right, or just click the x and it should pop up a list of changes and if you'd like to save or cancel them
oh alright
F10 for short
It was the UEFI USB that you moved up right? So it installs the correct UEFI version of Windows
Nah you don't need a key. You can get one later if you want.
what does the key do
Just a couple features won't work without and you get a watermark on the bottom right of the screen
Nothing major
Personalization menu mostly
should be find i guess
You can use wallpaper engine to bypass
Yeah we hear that about other discords a lot tbh
makes sense
CAUSE NOONE WANTS TO HELP PC NOOBS
besides you friendly folk here at newegg that is
which windows should i be using
Most people want home
home, home N, home single language, education, education N , Pro , Pro N
very few differences between home and pro
what does N even mean
N means no media features like windows media player
Regular home is fine yeah
And pro features don't work without a key but most people won't use them anyway
Custom
And if you're installing to a new drive let it initialize as gpt and then just select the unallocated space and hit next
idk even know what color my fans are gonna be
They're RGB right? That's the nice thing, you can change your mind at any point
Once it reboots make sure to remove the usb
Nah monitor more affects color quality and picture clarity, graphics themselves are determined by the gpu
It rebooted?
Eh if it's at that point just leave it ig
I forgot that windows integrates with the bios in UEFI mode so it tries to set the bootloader to the top
for some reason it says ethernet not connected but i got a wifi motherboard
You might need to grab your WiFi drivers and put them in the USB, you should be able to skip for now unless it's 11
is windows 10
You can just skip for now then
alrighty
If you don't have another computer to download the WiFi driver on you can use your phone
im typing on the laptop i used to download the windows on the usb so ig i can use this one when i need it
Perfect
Sure
should i sign in with my microsoft account
If you want, not really necessary but can make things easier if you use the Xbox app and stuff
i definitely wanna use xbox app
microsoft edge wishes it was used for anything other than installing chrome
"There's hundreds of millions of Edge users!*"
*Because that's the number of Windows users that can't uninstall it
Ah right, what motherboard
i use edge sometimes
I use edge occasionally too... When Firefox stops working
the horror
to test if some issue i'm having is an issue with the website or with firefox
it's not worth fighting to uninstall it bc it just installs itself back later lol
im confused here
why does a wifi motherboard
need an ethernet cable
DO I LOOK LIKE I HAVE ANY MORE MONEY TO BUY ONE
Yep
bet
Then extract it and install, you'll have your wifi
should i delete the windows setupt from it
windows setup doesn't hurt anything, you can use the rest of the USB normally
i only got 16 gb on this thing so i dont think theres much more space
plus i can always reinstall it right
good to know
I build lots of PCs so it's useful to have around
smart
Windows 10 uses like 6gb for the installer
You can extract the files and run the installer, right click it
right clicked
expand. open in new window, pin to quick access, give access to, include in library, pin to start, send to, cut, copy, delete, rename, new , properties
how do i extract these
Alright double click it instead then, and drag the files out and onto the desktop
Sheesh they made the file structure weird for that driver
fr
Reboot and see if you can connect to wifi
Right click the start button and hit device manager
done
realtek pcie gbe family controller
That's fine we can fix it from there
