oh ok
looking a lot better than a 12400F finally
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/nWZbGL
PC Builder - AMD Ryzen 5 5600, Radeon RX 6600, Deepcool CC560 ATX Mid Tower
(Just a draft list, not suggesting for anyone rn)
AC/AX are (abbreviated) names of wifi standards, gigabyte didn't make them up
802.11ac/802.11ax
everyone does the same thing
my MSI board is b450 pro carbon ac
but yea it's just the protocol
especially useful now to differentiate between ac and ax
@potent portal are chipset drivers suppose to mess with applications lol discord died after i installed it
restart after driver installs
I think I installed the INF or something
Screens went black then came back bur discord died
If you only installed the inf and not the actual driver files yes that can break things
But yes you should restart the computer after installing
i installed all 4 from website
Discord has a tendency to blank out like that when video drivers crash/reset
Browsers too
Restart fixes it
That means one of two things. They bought carbon credits from farms to "offset" their emissions or they're switching to lower power servers.
intel doesnt wanna update
That error indicates that driver is installed already
okay
hello chat. im trying to figure out how i can find out what brand coolant to refill my aio cooler with cause it doesnt tell me if i should use a specific brand
In most cases all you really need is distilled water and a little bit of biocide to keep bacteria from building up. Maybe a little ethylene or propylene glycol to keep things lubricated.
oh snap. is there like a cheap brand i can order?
What aio do you have?
You shouldn't need to refill it
Unless they had one of those defective arctic aio and accidentally spilled more than they provided in their little bottle.
AIOs are generally not designed to be refilled
My artic 360mm aio acting up again 🙄 bout to just chuck it tbh
Did you check if you got a faulty one? Also 90c at 40w looks like bad mount/plastic still on/not enough paste/ aio pump at a very low level instead of 100%
I've already been done all that 4 times now. It worked phenomenal for about 5-6 months then started doing this
Reset the bios last week and it was back to normal until this morning
But yeah I'm just gonna use my backup pc for now and when I have some time gonna check my model number and see if I have a faulty one
At least I know I won’t be getting 4090’s from Newegg
you guys think the 4090 can fit in a hyte y60 without an issues 💀
Not in a million years
lol
please ping me if you have an answer as I have the server muted
Hey I’m in my first ever build and I got everything thrown together, but have noticed a few issues. One is the power button doesn’t actually turn off the machine, two I don’t think my usb ports on the case are working (even though I have them plugged into the proper spot on the motherboard), and three, when I powered it up I got a no signal call on my monitor even though the graphics card is plugged in right. Anyone able to help me understand what I did wrong?
@paper summit depends are you gaming or using it for work if your gaming your not gana use those 12 cores hell your not gana use up 8
Well yes gaming and photoshop i also wanna try blender
then 12 it is lol
cant remember if it use cpu encoding or gpu
Idk either way it will pair nicely with 3080
What if you rendering a video hmmmmmm
You still likely won't see much benefit from a 5900x
Just for Photoshop, normal video work and normal blender
^
mostly cpu
blender heavily uses gpu more than cpu
a few select things use gpu
generally i dont think photoshop is that intensive on the cpu either
but photoshop uses cpu, probably not enough to see 5900x being worth $100 extra tbh
idk how it scales with core count tho
I wouldn't be surprised if it uses only one core lol
yeah lol
But but but 12core go brrrrrrr
na
5800x3d still king gaming chip
for the same money i would get 5800x3d ya
as a casual photoshop and blender user, you def dont need that many cpu cores
with multiple layers, high res images, and certain tools, it can be
just cool to say i got 12 cores but still not worth lol
Though mostly you just need a lot of ram
5800x is plenty for anything you throw at it
No
13th gen coming up shortly
7000 series sadly has expensive mobos
Im sticking with my mobo
Yepp
Well everything but cpu pretty much
the best thing you can put in that board would be a 5800x3d
Was gonna be budget with 5600g until i got my gpu but decided no im going overkill
https://videocardz.com/newz/amd-b650-motherboards-are-now-available-pricing-starts-at-159 gigabyte ds3h is 159, yikes
AMD has now released its mid-range B650 motherboard series for Ryzen 7000 series The B650 and B650E motherboards are now available starting from 160 USD in the US. There is no sign of the promised $125 AMD AM5 boards yet, but the prices for B650 series indeed start much lower than premium X670. The cheapest […]
not even wifi included
Overpricedddddd
I hate how b650m-a is 200$ when b660m-a is ~100$
then get the 660
B660 is lga1700, b650 is am5
It sucks
Bigger number better
1700 is 340 times as large as 5
therefore, lga1700 is 340 times as performant as am5
lga2011 is better than both platforms
lga3647 tho
LGA 4189
Lga2011 BETTER
but bigger number better
Not in weight.
I made the upgrade to windows 11
congratulations

Well then you know that answer INTEL IS BETTER
Is the wifi for the gigabyte b550m d3sh ac good in terms of wifi? Or should I get a Ethernet power line adapter
On Amazon a 5600x costs 165 should I get that over a 12400f?
That does make the total platform cost $25 cheaper for AMD but that's also essentially a dead end platform. Intel has the option to upgrade to a 13700 or something. Your choice. Performance is similar between them.
Should be fine
Also 5600 non x for 130$ is a way better choice, assuming you're a normal consumer and probably won't upgrade for many years you'll need to buy a new motherboard and ram anyway so I'd get the 5600
What's up
Neither
Theyre both absolutely terrible
I would get ABS on newegg, or if it's noticeably cheaper cyberpowerpc
Isn't ibuypower the ones who were using superglue
Not sure if they still do, but they definitely have
Origin is just super overpriced and terrible build quality
Ibuypower is terrible build quality but can have ok prices
I've upgraded two friends cyberpowers who had the cpu cooler hot glued to the motherboard
I stand by the two companies I suggested above
Theyre the only ones that are consistently decent
Sure it wasn't ibuypower?
I know they use super glue
Never heard of cyberpower doing it
Yes
if i get it right correctly cyberpower is ok?
the cooler mount had the screws but hot glue around the edges
These were older builds though. Ryzen 1000 series
The other day they had a 12600kf 3080 build for 1300 something
Actually sorry yeah it was ibuypower my bad
Ah ye that makes more sense
Ibuypower is one of the bottom of the barrel companies
Skytech still worse though
I get them mixed up
Lol
hp is ok, dell is worse; i would't go for dell. With all pre-builts, you might have to add a better cpu cooler or a fan
@mossy venture I finally replaced my GT 1030 in that one build
10105f/ 6600xt 😅
My backup pc until I get my aio thing figured out
There's no arguing with that. I just replaced my parents Dell desktop with a custom built because that computer had a laptop CPU cooler that couldn't keep up with the normal demands. 🤣
Nice
How much was the 6500?
It was my brother's he paid $550 for it in January 💀
The 6600xt?
I read that as 6500xt
Oh lol all good
what would be a good cpu for gaming and work that would be under 150 dollars?
something like 10400f or 11400f
otherwise 12100f
under 150 doesn't get you much
5600 is $130
@young fox
Any one ever do a psu swap on a dell optiplex 3020? Looking for suggestions mainly haveing mount compatibility worries
5600 non g non x is 130 atm and better
Yep just no igpu
Looks like a modified 12VO design power supply. You can only use officially compatible units because of that design. Dell likes to pull proprietary stunts like that.
@potent portal my first build was in this case but moved it to a temeped glass case but for some reasons the on the aftermarket PSU that was added that moved over to the new case doesnt have stickers or stamping otherwise id just buy the same PSU
But work gave me a 3010 and the 3020 had a better cpu so i moved HDD and psu hopeing to add a gpu but no pcie connectors with dells 290w
You can Frankenstein a build so it works. If you jump the right pins you can run a second power supply for the GPU.
my friend has a gaming rig and i’m wondering, is a gtx 1660 super and gtx 1070 too much for a 450W PSU? and if not, would he need to upgrade the PSU if I gave him my RTX 3060 to replace the 1070?
he has 2 GPUs lol
Itd be fine
Oh 2 gpus
What's he do with the pc?
For just gaming, no point for two gpus
I've ran a 3060 ti on a 500w
what’s a good PSU wattage for the 3060 combo thing
What model is the psu?
Ah
i don’t even know for sure it’s 450W, i haven’t seen it so i don’t know. That’s just what google says though
yeah
i’m not selling him my GPU until i get a 4060 so that might be a while lol
no integrated graphics lol
450W would be enough to run both cards though?
assuming that’s the wattage of his psu
maybe
he might be better off with a 650W PSU though
Or fal, theyre active rn
One sec while I catch up
he wants the 4090 which obviously won’t support the 450W PSU
Mobo would require new case
oem bloatware in the bios?
it's the proprietary hardware I hate more
ah
oof
i was wondering how easy it would be to upgrade an alienware computer
doesnt look like it’ll be easy without replacing pretty much the whole thing
Ye, they suck for upgradability
- 450W is probably too small for dual GPU, even if it miraculously has enough PCIe power connectors
- Dell makes upgraded PSU models that are larger capacity, and it's one of the things they make that don't totally suck
At that point you'd pretty much keep cpu, maybe ram, ssd, and gpu
he’s already running 2 GPUs
Right but upgrading to the 3060 is where that becomes problematic
A dual fan model might
since the case is different
i’ve got one with 2 fans anyways lol
which i’m gonna sell to him when i get a 4060 or smthn
evga is the brand
The XC I'm guessing then
That model is 202mm long measured from the slot cover
It should fit
nice
Looks like the highest capacity PSU they make that's compatible is 850W
You could go for that for "future proofing" or a smaller one
850 would be enough for a 3090 lol
Definitely
honestly if i were him id just sell it and either build it by hand or buy a good prebuilt
sounds like such a pain to work around this proprietary hardware
That would make it easier to upgrade later down the line too
It comes down to what's more important to him, the cheapest solution that'll work or ease of use
he could probably sell his alienware for the price it costs to build the same pc (with off the shelf components) i’m pretty sure
it’s funny how alienware makes the worst computers and markers them as “elite” and “superior”
and also raises the price a bunch
The R7 is going for $500 on ebay used
oh
like $100-$200 more to build the pc i think
which isn’t much tbh
$3,000 msrp for the aurora r7????
no way
what a scam
Yep, that's Alienware for you
i knew they were overpriced but i didn’t think they priced it that high
They give you horrible parts and inadequate cooling and call it premium
Oh but you also get the light up alien logo, that adds 2k to the value
It's been like that forever, since before Dell bought them and they were actually good
and people who are just trying to get into the gaming market can see it and go, “expensive but good for gamin” without actually knowing the value
typical
the big companies always ruining good things
i hope he didn’t buy it for $3,000 though

he said he got it a while ago so it’s possible
Yeah that would be a slap in the face, 83% depreciation in 4 years lol
4 years being based off it having an 8th gen processor and we're just getting into 13th
he paid 3,000 for it

i looked up the MSRP of each part and it would’ve been worth around $1,300
idk it’s a rough estimate
Sounds about right for mid-high end brand new
the most expensive part would literally be the case then
made of solid gold lol
i still can’t believe that though, that’s worse than apple lol
Guys so im looking to get a Strix 3080 OC and im looking for a good cpu to pair with it so that i dont get a bad bottle neck. So far im looking between the Ryzen 9 5900x and the Ryzen 5950x. Which one would be better?
You wouldn't get a bottleneck even using a 3000 series cpu lol
A 5600X is more than powerful enough
5950X is actually worse for gaming than the 5900X in a lot of cases
Personally I use a 5800X and it's been perfect
But if you REALLY want the best you want the 5800X3D
At first i thought the 5900x was the best then i found someone saying that it would bottle neck the 3080. Then they said that the 5950x would be better. Which felt alittle off to me so i came here for some more advice.
Sure it'll bottleneck the 3080... at 1080p low settings
1440p or higher and the GPU is the bind
That's currently the same price as the 5900X
How much would the strix 3080 bind the cpu? Would it be anything to noticeable?
When you're gaming you want to aim for close to 100% usage on the GPU anyway, that way you have better frame rate stability
Having a gpu bind isn't a bad thing unless it's because of a massively underpowered gpu compared to the cpu
I noticed the link you sent the clocks are with windows 11. Has windows 11 actually gotten better now?
It's comparable to 10 in almost every game on nearly every system
But you still don't need to upgrade until 2025
Unless there's new features you want
Yeah i almost want to stick to 10
The urge to upgrade because "higher number better" is strong
Okay so i need a refresher on the cpu cores and thread count thing. If we base performance off of that would the Ryzen 9 5900x be better then the Ryzen 7 5800X3D? Since the 5800x has less of both cores and threads? Whats making the FPS so much better?
Meanwhile I still have a 1070 lol
Architecture
Core count does not matter at all for gaming. No game currently uses more than 4c/8t and the 5600 is 6c/12t.
My current build contains a Strix 1070 and a Ryzen 7 200x and im i need and upgrade lol
Core count isn't really an indicator of gaming performance
Same, I'm dailying x99

You could use a 64 core threadripper and it'll get destroyed by the 5600X in games
But 128 core epyc
Whats even the most taxing game out rn?
Maybe MS flight sim?
I mean there's taxing and there's unoptimized
Oh wait no they improved that
Maybe ms flight sim indeed
Like star citizen is just horribly optimized
Rip
My current pc struggles bad with high graphics Black desert Online lol
Online games are just badly optimized
I can barely get 100 fps in ESO at 1080p medium
(in raids)
I just want to build myself a pc that could kick some ass on higher graphics and be able to have it be able to stand its ground against newer games.
I have a problem can i ppst it here or nah
Here's fine but if it's related to something more specific it can be helpful to use the related category
Idk what is the problem
The reason why im doing the strix 3080 OC is because its on sale and it looks like the best deal ill get for awhile
So my pc boots up in Windows loads then shuts off i one time got it too load and almost was in windows desktop but then it shurs off
I meant what causes it
Hmm ill check tomorrow
Did you take off the plastic protector on the cooler?
Itnisnt new
Liquid cooler or air?
Air the old intel one and its second hand
Ah the stock cooler, yeah that's not ideal
I7 2600
Shouldn't be shutting down before boot though
It posts and almosts gers into windows
You tried booting into bios yet?
Tried but then it was like nope go boot up
Are you spamming the right button for bios?
Whats the best Asus motherboard to pair with this guy if i get it?
Don't lock yourself to a specific brand
Never do that, actually
Yes
What features do you need? Wifi? USB C?
Its tab for this one
@upper ore
A friend of mine told me that buying similar brands work best
Maybe for rgb but that's about it
Dont need wifi
Im using an MSI Mobo with an Asus gpu
Same brand of components isn't a guarantee for compatibility
I had a MSI mobo and GPU and it wouldn't post at all lol
Or stability
And i dont need USB C but if it has it im cool with it
Micro or full ATX
Actually it could be a huge chance that its overheating since there is dust in the cooler
I dont think any component in my computer is the same brand as another
Ill check it out tomorrow
Full i plan on vertically mounting my 3080
Asrock mobo, gigabyte gpu, cooler master case, arctic fans, corsair psu, id cooling heatsink, crucial ram, pny ssd, intel ssd, Seagate hdd
But I want an only noctua build
Struck between these 2 cases so far https://www.newegg.com/white-corsair-icue-5000x-rgb-atx-mid-tower/p/N82E16811139165 and one of the Phantex Eclipse cases
P500a?
5000X is ok if you get the airflow panel but yeah P500a is great
Yeah
https://www.newegg.com/matte-white-phanteks-eclipse-p500a-atx-mid-tower/p/11-854-115 havent decided on the color yet
I like the look of black p500a better
Actually this one has better VRMs https://pcpartpicker.com/product/BYBhP6/asrock-b550-steel-legend-atx-am4-motherboard-b550-steel-legend
Yeah so im just getting my Gpu rn since Amazon is running an amazing deal on it. And then ill just hold out until like black friday and new years for deals on the other stuff
I said it earlier so I'll quote myself:
"Black Friday is a bad time to buy tech in general. They mark things up so they can look marked down and some companies go so far as to make stripped down models especially for sale that week."
Depending on price, 5000d airflow might be a better option
What about the newegg new years deals?
Those are more normal deals
So for example this strix 3080 Oc is on sale on amazon for $849. If i look at every other site i looks like a good deal but is it really?
It's ok but you can find 3080s for about $500 used
Im pretty sure its new because it doesnt say used or refurbished
Yeah $800 new is normal right now
But if you don't mind a gpu that was used for less than a year used isn't bad
But when i look everywhere else its like 1k
That's called the strix tax
3070 is $530 btw. Another $300ish for 3080 is far from a deal. $150 strix tax VS FE for example.

Alright sorry im back my dinner just got here
Is that actually a real thing? lol
Ah that sucks, I was planning on getting a 13600k on bf
Yes, very much so
Ik its probably an inside joke but cant help it i love the strix cards
I honestly hate the look of them
NEW tech is another story, because it isn't discounted at all lol
And Asus is probably my favorite company for pc parts for some things and not all.
Oddly 12600K was only $230 back in May. I should've got it tbh. We know 13600K is gonna be $300ish and the lower stuff is supposedly still ADL sadly. Although nowadays we have sporadic sales of 12600K(F) at $220.
Quick question is the even that noticeable of a difference between the 3080 and 3090? Like is a 3090 even needed for most games currently out?
Well not the 12GB 3080.
The one im looking at getting is the 10gb
No one needs the 3090, it's maybe 5% more fps for double the price
https://www.amazon.com/ASUS-Graphics-DisplayPort-Axial-tech-2-9-Slot/dp/B09DDJTSPZ/ref=sr_1_4?crid=1K6YUMKQ8NHQQ&keywords=asus+strix+3080+12gb&qid=1665609980&qu=eyJxc2MiOiIxLjg4IiwicXNhIjoiMS41MSIsInFzcCI6IjEuNTkifQ%3D%3D&s=electronics&smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER&sprefix=asus+strix+3080%2Celectronics%2C91&sr=1-4 Idk if you guys can see it but this is the one im getting.
What's funny is my 3080 ti gets better fps than the 3090 I had
Just know that strix has been $800 a month or so ago.
The 12gb one even
Yeah but they sell out so fast especially on newegg. Like it shows that newegg has the cheapest but they are always out of stock
What?
That can be it sometimes just bc it's higher on list doesn't make it better like if you do the aorus 3080 ti vs the evga XC3 3090 ofc the 3080 Ti is gunna come out ahead it can pull more power and boost longer
I was mainly comparing Strix vs Strix
@potent portal also look what they have ahhhhhh I WANT IT

Well if 3080 ti better then 3090 and both are a strix I think we have a problem
I mean i didnt say it in chat but its all that ive been taling about recently lol
Fair enougu
Lol I just got here
I'm waiting for it to release to see if it's as sad as leaks say
With it being 2% better than 12600k in single core
Ik i was just saying that for the others that have been here lol
I saw the LC Suprim for $1600 yesterday once.
i don't care what current price is, but the 3080 should be $800 max even if strix.

Im so stuck is the 10gb Strix RTX 3080 not worth it when the 12gb is right there?
Get 12GB
So the thing is that the 10gb is on sale for $849 and the 12 is not on sale and its $987.38
Thats $138.38 difference without tax of course
Well 12GB is like a 3080 Ti but cheaper and which a 3080 ti is like a 3090 sooo hypothetical a 3080 12GB is kinda like a 3090 giver take a few less fps
So that extra 138 is worth it for the extra 2gb?
No it is not
Not to me, but I also wouldn't* buy until the 12GB model goes under $850, especially seeing it for $800 & the TuF at $750.
Considering an XLR 12gb is $740
That 4090 is going to thermal throttle like there is no tommorow
https://www.amazon.com/ZOTAC-Graphics-IceStorm-Advanced-ZT-A30900J-10P/dp/B08ZL6XD9H?ref_=Oct_DLandingS_D_4cb74dba_65&smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER How the heck is this guy so cheap?
Get Amplified with the all-new ZOTAC GAMING GeForce RTX 30 Series based on the NVIDIA Ampere architecture. Built with enhanced RT Cores and Tensor Cores, new streaming multiprocessors, and superfast GDDR6X memory, the ZOTAC GAMING GeForce RTX 3090 Trinity gives rise to amplified gaming with ultra...
Well for the Prime sale that makes it 869.99
I've seen better 3090s cheaper
Ftw3 on amazon was $825 a week or two ago
3090 ti xlr8 was low 800s yesterday
Wait no
It was $730 lmao
Oos now though
Are you talking USD? Because thats insane and almost not true
Realize most 30 series are almost 2 yrs old at this point and were mainly vastly overpriced for quite a while.
Then when and how would i get my hands on a new card that is the price that everyone is saying they have seen? lol
Worst case scenario is waiting until after 4080/4070 drops and 30 series then really needs some discounts possibly.
Yeah thats gonna be what another 2 or 3 years lmfao
Look at #tech-deals
I posted it yesterday
Such a weird lineup, 11700KF and 4090
I desperately need help. I have never had this happen and don’t know what to do.
This dash in the top left is all I see on the monitor and it won’t boot.
It booted before but I had to restart for a software update
After 15 minutes I got this far by just waiting
Pny is one of the best gpu makers for nvidia
What are you smoking
Well I got in, but my boot time is 20 minutes over 1 minute or less. Caused by a razer update???
Run command prompt as admin, run an sfc/scannow and chkdsk
My friends both had computer issues after updating razer synapse today
"Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files and successfully repaired them.
For online repairs, details are included in the CBS log file located at
windir\Logs\CBS\CBS.log. For example C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CBS.log. For offline
repairs, details are included in the log file provided by the /OFFLOGFILE flag."
Windows has scanned the file system and found no problems.
No further action is required.
hopefully that fixes that man
Razer is a common problem I've found. I had one person that couldn't boot unless they unplugged their mouse, and another person that got electrocuted by his mouse. idfk how
Is razer software required to use razer mice?
Bc if not I'm uninstalling the software when I get home
Nah just for button mapping, sensitivity settings, and rgb mostly
Yeah im def uninstalling it then
got electrocuted by his mouse
👀
I feel like that might be user error idk
Can confirm that Synapse isn't the best though
Nah it was a short circuit inside the mouse
Because other things plugged into the same port were fine
Gotta touch more 9v batteries to get up tolerance.
It was only a USB 2.0 port so 5V 1A max
weak 5W lol
It's not the voltage but the amperage that'll kill you though
You can take 100kV at 0.001A and be "fine", but 0.1A is possibly lethal
Since when? I remember they were great for quadro but I always remember them being pretty bad for GeForce
They're not exactly the best but most of them are definitely not the worst
Is all of TeamGroup T-Force XTREEM ARGB DDR4 RAM 3600 Samsung B-die are what, how do determined that if so?
Hi
And there's more cores and faster bandwidth but like bacca said there's cheaper 3080 12GB and PYN I heard is very nice
A bit of a fable. Btw I know usb 2 isnt 9v. Just take the joke that isn't funny.
Gpu prices have dropped Severely over the year like 3090 ti supposed to be 2k you can get it for 1k or even cheaper like that one game stop deal for $730 it's wild how prices just plummet
The United Kingdom of Northern Ireland and Great Britain
But if you thunk about it there's no more shortage which means the gpus arnt rare anymore which means there's just a lot which will make prices drop
Don't
If you pass your rma period and something is doa
You're screwed
Buy everything together as closely as possible in time
Don't buy one thing per month or something
Return if it's broken
Everything
Buy all your pc components at the same time basically
Oooooh
@jagged ember one time I bought a new mobo bc I thought after a part dies its gone forever didn't know warranty was a thing before hahaha
So when you put it together and something is dead
You can return it
If you space it all out you can't
Oh nono not too spaced out
Im getting the rest of it next month for my bday so not too long a wait
😭im not paying for it sadly
Tragic
Put everything together as soon as you can
Not in the case, just put in enough to see if the PC boots
Yeah im having my friend help me the moment i get everything together
If you have a friend with compatible parts you can test things with that would be ideal
luckily i do
And yes you don't need a case, or storage for that matter, to test boot
Hello, I was trying to figure out why one of the ram of slots on my mobo wasn’t working and I tried resetting cmos to see if that would work but not my pc won’t post any ideas?
How old is the pc?
Can’t tell you for sure maybe 2+
The motherboard says it supports ddr4 2100/2400 mhz but the ram is ddr4 2666 but it worked fine before
It's possible for a single slot or channel to die.
Are the sticks in slots 2 and 4, counting from the cpu?
There’s only 2 slots it’s a h110 pro btc +
Well before it was booting with one slot but now after the cmos reset none
You might need a new cmos battery
Usually they need to be replaced every few years
Yeah all the battery would affect is configuration settings, and if they're corrupt it won't post
Can it be any cmos battery and where do I buy one?
They're super common coin cells. You can get them anywhere that sells batteries. 2032
The 2032 is used in a lot of electronics, mostly small remotes, thermometers, garage door openers...
Isn't it weird we haven't made those rechargeable
😜
Just some from your local drug store or walmart, doesn't matter what brand
If the board is DDR4 then DDR3 won't fit
These are fine?
Yep. Duracell is always a good brand for longevity.
I just like duracell cause that’s the brand I’ve always used my whole life 😂
Thanks I appreciate it
They're the more premium brand that costs more but lasts a bit longer so you don't need to change batteries as often
Fingers crossed it helps. Do a full power drain after putting the new one in.
I just hope it works cause I have someone buying the pc on Saturday 😭
How do I do that
Unplug it and hold the power button for 10 seconds, release for 10 seconds, press for 10 seconds again, then wait for 15 minutes. That drains all the capacitors.
After that you plug in again
Could I maybe try that now?
Where is the best place to scan my pc and giving me pretty much all of my hardware details... cause honestly I forgot what it is
Hwinfo will tell you
Demon how u building these pcs for so cheap lol
@austere condor would you happen to have a 7980 or 9980xe
Used parts probably?
For some reason my desktop doesn't want to left click, solutions? Everything works except the left click on desktop, right click is ok and other apps work fine
Solved
The problem looks like to be the overall desktop, doesn't even work with keyboard (using tab or typing a app/shortcut/folder name)
Bruh ion know anymore is the 12600k worth i heard that if u tweak the memory well it can be as good as the 12900k
You still won't have as many cores btw
But in game performance yes.. that'll improve a lot
Yeah I meant that in a game context my b
ohh, do you guys have tips on what I should do
I'll be assembling the parts rn 😳, like common things I should remember, and how to make an ssd a boot drive (I only have 1 ssd rn, not sure if I should make it both my boot and storage if it's alright)
both excited and scared 😆
read the manuals if you have questions, to make the drive your boot drive you just install the OS on it and yes only having ssd for os is very wasteful imo
manual > google > asking a person.
like Pato said, install the OS on your SSD, instead of your hard drive (if you got one). pro tip for that: keep only the boot drive (or the drive you want to boot from) plug in while every other drive is unplugged. it’ll make identifying the drive to boot from a lot easier
Not only that but windows will sometimes put the boatload on a different drive if you have all drives plugged in
i don’t understand, why don’t people just install linux instead of getting a windows 10 license when building a computer? linux is free and you could use the money you save on better hardware
gaming on linux has been looking very promising too with the steam deck
my rig runs linux and i only had issues with drivers at first, but once that was settled, i basically forgot i was on linux at all lol
i get the same performance on linux as i did on windows, sometimes even better because of less background junk
Windows is free to use too
Linux is also less tech illiterate friendly a lot of the time
Windows is free, since windows 8 you could use windows perfectly with a tiny watermark if unactivated
Also a lot of things on linux just straight wont work
Some steam games are getting more compatibility yeah but try play an epic or battle net games
Rommy
Just tried turning it on after running those yesterday. Same issues.
Would vga debug really not allow a boot?
what i do to combat this is i add those launchers as a non steam game, however, some games have an anti cheat that absolutely hates wine/proton
Yep
Had a question about side mounted fans and bottom mounted fans and the way they should be oriented.
Oh wait can’t post photos here one sec
Have to Imgur
the three games I spend 99.9% of my gaming time playing have 0 compatibility with Linux whatsoever
let's not pretend linux is all the way there for gaming
it's making progress
@wanton cedar dm them to me I'll post for you
Reason: Bad word usage
Oh can’t swear lol
Try to move past the bad cable management
Been moving around parts all day and will clean it up once I have everything situated. I wanted to know what is wrong with the fan orientation there
Or is it okay?
Gotcha okay. Now the way the bottom fan is facing, that is exhaust or intake?
Currently facing*
Because I thought with GPU fans being intake I should have the bottom fan as well be an intake fan
The side with the plastic frame is the side the fan blows towards
So the front ones are set to intake in that pic and the rear exhaust
Gotcha okay
“Your front, bottom fans are intaking. Your top and back should be out taking but your back is intaking”. Is what someone also suggested I do
To maximize air flow
Is there any validity to that?
Someone also suggested
#1 take out the side fans
#2 put all 3 fans if possible to the bottom under the gpu and make sure they are all intaking air.
#3 turn the fans at the back around so they are exhausting air
#1/#2: Could do that to maximize the airflow directly to your GPU. Could also just get 2 more fans to put there as well as what you already have installed.
#3: Your rear fans are already exhausting so you are good there.
Gotcha okay!
Yeah it’s just a lot to take in. You folks say the back fans are exhausting while others say they are intaking
Just lots to learn is all
Anyways going to def do #1 and #2
yeah.. I'd stop listening to whoever is telling you the rear fans are intaking lol.
@frigid night @potent portal alrighty so this is what I’m working with now! In the Imgur in order it’s bottom mounted fans, then the top mounted AIO, rear case fans, and then the front fans https://imgur.com/a/0OGJPZH
Oops forgot to include the link there we go lol
HAF 700 EVO is fun to build in but a pain to move around lol
I need this emoji
@potent portal I tried a new battery and it didn’t work
any recommendation on AIO for AMD 7950X?
You think I should try different ram?
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/qVNLqm Whats everyone's thoughts on my new build?
PC Builder - AMD Ryzen 7 5800X3D, GeForce RTX 3080 12GB LHR, Phanteks Eclipse P500A D-RGB ATX Mid Tower
And os
you can slash at least 400usd on those 4 things
Yeah, g360a would save $57
Gf1 850 just as good and would save $85
M27q-p $140 or so
Os, $130, as windows is free to use
Can anyone help I reset my cmos cause my mobo was only reading one ram stick and now it turns on but it’s just a black screen
I replaced the battery but it still doesn’t work
how much is a windows 10 key tho?
like 20usd?
oh I didn't know srry
you dont need a license right away to run your system
you can spend that money on better parts
and worry about the license later
what are the "benefits" of a license tho?
some security updates mostly
but the watermark on the right lower corner is the main issue
its kinda annoying
Why even is that a rule anyways?
It's not illegal
Or well not always illegal
It's hard to tell where those grey market keys come from, some of them might be from stolen credit cards etc. and people are using it to launder money for example.
Fair I guess. Though there are places that sell legit OEM keys for $20
(OEM keys are legal to resell, at least in the US)
Indeed but even those are marketplaces with unknown origin of the keys. I think there was exactly one site that was transparent on where the keys originate and I don't remember the name.
Exactly this. If it's posted on this discord someone is going to think it's being endorsed by newegg.
PC Builder - Intel Core i5-12600K, Radeon RX 6900 XT
At that price point you might want to consider a slightly better SSD than mp33
what's your total budget? and probably want to up your PSU that 6900XT wants at least a 900W supply, and like dude said that mp33 is bottom of the barrel unless you just want space on the cheap
not necessary to upgrade psu
Hi
leadex iii is good
yeah that
its doable buy why cheap out on a 1.5K build....a 850W is $10-$15 more at max
Like?
it was just a placeholder sorry i rushed through it
I can do leadex iii gold flower 850w
850w is nice to have, but if necessary, 750w is doable for whatever reasons
either way, don't need 900w
should always go with the manufacturers suggestions....saving that 20 bux isn't worth the stability of your system
could save 15$ and not have to suffer with Corsair
manufacturers overestimate power for various reasons
They don't know what you're pairing it with
This^
point still stands...and a PSU is a longer term investment....i'm not saying overspec and buy a 1300W supply but if you're buying a top end card treat it properly....plus if he gets a 12700 or 12900 in the future he'd have to buy another supply when he can just spend an extra 20 and be cool
don't need to
not running a 12700K and a 6900XT on a 750W...you'd be a fool to...not saying you can't but why just to prove what point?
its fine i can jsut get an 850w
You still can, especially without overclocking
These chips are very good about sticking to power limits if you don't remove pl
Lol I’ve been running a 5900x and a 3080 12gb off a 750w decently OCed and still works wonders
pl1 at 125w performs 99% as well as if you maxed it to 241w
Even then you'd still have enough overhead
anyways
doesn't matter
Crazy question
750w will work
If I cut the rgb wires off of fans will that break anything?
if you already have a 750w unit or can only get a 750w unit for some reason, don't let that discourage you
They are getting in the way and being annoying
Gonna explode my 650 lol i need a new psu
uh, which part
I have fans that have a power cable and an rgb cable
And I’m only using the power cable
Samsung 980, P41, crucial p5
Definitely would not recommend, but theoretically you can cut them off and put electrical tape on the ends
Idk exactly what's best
for future reference p41 is way better than 980 and p5
It's like
mp33 tier (e13t/sm2263xt drives)
mp34 tier (e12/sm2262en drives)
im getting p12 i think they're good idk
And then Rocket 4 tier (e16 drives or equivalent)
and Rocket 4 plus tier (e18 drives or equivalent)
Like the best of the best honestly
Much air flow
Cheap
Very quiet
arctic p12 is nice
man pcpp is lying about sn850x price, I was getting excited
What is sn850x
XS70 still good
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B09T2WNKNZ
With a standard data transfer rate that's 2x faster than the 3.0 version, the XS70 PCIe Gen 4x4 with 3D NAND flash memory and NVMe 1.4 support is exactly what serious gamers need to crush the competition. Mind-blowing continuous read and write speeds up to 7,300MB/s and 6,800MB/s, respectively, e...
wd ssd, it has fun bics5
Finally got around to building my friends pc and now we are just trying to get wires out of the way of the fans
Fun stuff
Shoving wires in the shroud is the best form of cable management
Gimme like 10 minutes
I’ll take a pic after all the wires are not being annoying
hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
Impatient? lol
Idk what those are so I’m gonna say probably not
It’s 1080ti 12600k 32gb ram 850w psu
Gpu gonna get upgraded soon ish
😔
PC Builder - Intel Core i5-12600K, Radeon RX 6900 XT, Phanteks Eclipse P400A ATX Mid Tower
RAM
Cooler meh, can do better
PSU
too expensive
Case you could also do cheaper but if you like it that's a decent one
XPG Core Reactor 850w is 110$
g360a is a nice case
freezer ii 240 is fine tbh but if you grab g360a you can top mount 360mm rad
psu is usually 115 or so
im just using that because thats the actual item
Im the stupid person who bought the p400a a while ago 😔
GF1 PE is 89
So cheaper still
That ram is a total no tho imo, just, I wouldn't even look
Too many XMP issues with vengeance DDR4
You could consider ripjaws, they have something like a 4000MT/s kit near that price
Might need to play with it to get it to train gear 1 (or downclock it a bit to stay in gear 1)
gf1 was my second option
GF1 would be better value if you get it for that price
Still an A tier
Team group would be better yeah
u think a 280mm rad for an aio would fit on the top
whats b stock
Same cooler just way cheaper
i asked earlier but no one ever answers me
It's refurbished or slightly blemished stock (Often it's not tho - good as new)
oh
Often returned and then resold as fully functional and a full package again
The discounts are worth it, the 360 LF2 is $68
so its basically used
would change case to g360a and grab 360mm though
But functional
It's refurbished
Used but with a warranty
i see
Considering it's more than half price on some sku's it's 100% worth it
i bought the p400a like an entire year ago i would switch if it was returnable
woah why is my ebay link so long
Everything after "?" Delete
ok
wack

ok thanks
Np
What about 360
welp
Never really looked at that before
hopefully it will still look good
It'll look fine lol
3 intake on the front and top and rear are exhaust right
Ye

Ye that's not bad, if you can afford the step up of 50 or so M27Q/Q-P is better
All I want is a curved monitor so i don’t put a strain on my eyes 1440p and atleast 144hz for a decent price
Now that I think about it
I’m asking for a lot
Hello sorry it took me so long to respond. My aio is a Gaming T750 240 LC cooler,AVC and it makes this bubbling sound and ive tried tipping it at different angles and shaking it a little but nothing works if i do need to replace it would there be one u recommend

can anyone recommend anything for upgrades it would help a lot I'm clueless?
It doesn't seem to need much upgrades
Other than maybe some case fans if it doesn't have one already
Ram can definitely be changed tho
Since OEM 3200mhz ram always runs at jedec spec with cl22 or cl20
Not really sure where else to put this but I’ve been wondering if I can get some help with an issue I’m having on my pc. https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/657753562247462922/1029541809510154311/B7F2C1B3-9476-44D4-8E8E-70266FF2EE83.jpg
This pops up when I start my computer
The first time I started it, it worked for about a minute then it just kept restarting over and over again
This is my boot sequence if that matters
I have 1 ssd and 1 hdd
Is there a way to install a infinity mirror inside a Fractal torrent?
Or is double sided tape the only way.
Depends how much you care about ruining your case
Why, is option B drilling holes?
drill holes on the infinity mirror? o.O
The motherboard doesn’t support XMP, he’d need a new one
oof
That’s the only downside to the Lenovo legion prebuilts imo
Well that and cooling
Don't most of them only have a single place for a fan at the back for an exhaust?
Mhm
Let's see if this $35 cooler can handle my 5800x 😏
It can
Omg it fits though. By like a paper thin amount
Claims to be 135mm but with mounting bracket I was nervous it wouldn't
clearance measurement take everything into account from the base of the mobo including brackets
I winged it and was successful 😅
Hopefully it will do a good enough job until I get my aio figured out
ventus not good tho
I mean, it'll run hot but it shouldn't throttle, atleast without ocing
ye
Hi there, Newegg sent me here...I was wondering if I could get some help with a motherboard selection please?
Slovskii in another chat said try here
So you're building a new PC I'm assuming correct?
It's arguably the worst model
The number of fans doesn't really mean anything
Technically, yes. I built a decent machine about 5 years ago with a 3700x. I just bought a 5950x. Looking at rebuilding in new case basically and I want to make sure I get great audio as well. I do design work for a living so that's important. Considering Gigabyte X570 Aorus Elite WIFI
There's dual fan 3070s that are better than ventus 3x 3070
Lemmie double check what socket that is RQ
Alright, AM4
I'm stupid
Do you need any wifi or anything?
What's your budget? If you really care about audio, you should get a separate audio interface and/or dac/amp
Yeah, @stoic island would be a better person to help you 😅
For the jump in price between boards that have like a alc892 to alc1200, you could just get an apple 3.5mm to usb-c dongle for 10$ that's a better dac than both
Or, is it even important to worry about the motherboard and just go with a soundcard?
Internal sound cards are relatively obscure now, external interfaces are common
The motherboard can still matter for other reasons for a 5950x, general io and VRMs mainly
Anyways, right now, what's your budget, how much are you willing to spend on a motherboard?
For once in my life I can say I have a good budget, I'm more concerned about overall performance I suppose, just don't want to be stupid
So could I assume 200$?
For sure
For your design work, do you care about having extra USB slots for any reason, any big storage concerns, and any extra pcie add in cards you want to use?
@stoic island is typing an essay
No need for extra USB slots I don't believe. My 500GB hard drive is certainly not enough. I don't think I need anything crazy as far as storage is concerned. I use an external drive pretty regular for backup.
Do you need wifi or are you using ethernet
Actually no need to WIFI. Using 1G fiber with ethernet run direct.
Any aesthetic preferences?
I kinda want to do some RGB this time, but not a huge deal. If it's a tradeoff, function over aesthetics.
Not sure if I want to get into the headache of custom water cooling but it looks fun...lol. I do like a challenge 😆
Custom loop isn't worth it for 99.9% of people
Thank you so much for responding!
You're looking at minimum 1k for the components to put a custom loop together
Plus the headache of making sure it all works, and the added risk to the system if something is done wrong
Also changing the liquid every so often I believe
Yeah, seems like a nightmare honestly
Do they even make RGB water cooling?
You can put dye in and use backlighting
Can't really find nice boards with just straight up rgb, here's just a decent nice board, you can just get more rgb stuff on top

hello everyone, I am trying to pick a laptop within the price range of 550-700. As this is the first time I will buy a laptop, it is very challenging for me to choose the one that will suit my needs the best. I almost never do gaming (when I do, I avoid graphics heavy game and play something like raft, minecraft and others like it, always on low settings) , I watch movies, series and study, hence read a lot. For those purposes, I try to prioritise screen quality over anything else. My studies will begin in less than a week and I have to buy a laptop, therefore need advice. My top picks are:

Quick question, Euros or USD?
