That was the non xbox ally
the og ally also used z1
The white one uses a chip called the z2a
Exact amt of cpu cores and gpu cores as the steam deck
And same gen too
I've been drinking Costco's Kirkland brand coconut water
It's possibly the best coconut water I've drank outside of a coconut that I could actually keep for months without it rotting
It's not cheap though but it's the only bottled coconut water I've found so far here that
- Tastes like a good coconut water
- Isn't watered down either
- Doesn't have added sugars
- Doesn't have artificial flavours
Though it's about the same price as buying a green coconut from the store
Apparently it uses Thailand coconuts
Man i hope costco sells more kirkland branded products
the rog ally in 2023 used z1 extreme
Same or often better quality than the name brands
i guess asus downgraded it later
Fr
Honestly every Kirkland branded thing I've tried so far hasn't missed its mark
i remember seeing a catalogue book when i got my tuf a15 in 2023
I need some kirkland branded pom juice
it came with the laptop lmao
The branded stuff is expensive
kirkland is also branded
just a different brand
im just fooling around, i know what ya mean
Yeah but the products likely dont pass thru several different hands increasing the final cost which gets passed onto the customer
Best part is half of the time the Kirkland stuff is literally just the good name brand stuff just not with the brand name on it
brand image is both real and artificial in the same time
Man i hope Costco sells more Costco branded products
one dollar hotdawg
i heard they now check for membership before letting people buy hotdogs
Kirkland signature kinda is like president's choice products, though honestly I think they've gotten a better rep than president's choice now in Canada
(President's choice is basically the "generic" brand that loblaws, the largest grocery chain in Canada made, originally with personally curated products by the president of the company)
costco is the original subscription model fr
one that actually provides tangible value
and provides the company a stable source of income
Nowadays I don't think the president's choice is actually vetted as closely to be top tier anymore
The original products are still good but there are some misses
modern subscription services are made to rip their users off
Sam's Club preceeded Costco by a couple months
Yeah they likely just order the stuff from the same factory but the customer doesn’t have to pay for the labeling and other logistics cost of other brands cuz its likely straight from manufacturers to warehouse which is basically the store
man modern companies just think that subscriptions are a way to perpetually scam people
..which is working too, unfortunately
How goated is sams club in comparison to costco
Seems like they bring in more interesting stuff than costco
Like that keychron hall effect keyboard combo they didn’t let me buy online without a huge no membership fee

I don't like sams club purely because they're owned by Walmart
SHIT WAS AROUND 100 BUCKS AND INCLUDED A DECENT WIRELESS MOUSE AND I COULDNT GET IT
AND NOW ITS GONE
Technically Costco owns the actual first one called Price Club, but Price Club technically wasn't for normal customers
Now they should make midnight club
Dunno, never been to a Costco
What bit rate do i want to make sure an approximately 3 minute long 3440x1440p 60fps screen recording with av1 format is under 100mb
Bruh
Maybe 2500kbits
My favorite nickname for a store to date is "cave on foods"
So there's a chain of grocery stores in Canada called save-on-foods and like I believe right before Y2K they had a new location with rooftop parking which was made on a roof that was not designed to have cars parked on top of it
The roof collapsed and then the chain was given the moniker of cave-on-foods
av1 saves more space than the bitrate suggests btw
i have 15 second clips that are only 20 mb or so iirc
on 4k bitrate
Can't believe someone greenlit that
What
There were no fatalities since they did see the beam bending and pipes breaking
Grease a couple palms and you'll get anything greenlit
So they evacuated
true. no one really reacted that much when i posted a screenshot of new Deck prices somewhere
Iirc it was an engineering issue
Show em da cash and you're set
The engineering plans changed multiple times and the engineer that reviewed the plan for the rooftop parking lot was looking at an older document that didn't have the cost cutting applied to it
Yes but isn't it goofy to park on top of a store?
it's honestly normal efficiency
Wow
It's worth noting that there's basically no parking in Vancouver and underground parking is quite expensive to build
Ah there it is, it's just too expensive

an easier way is just to create underground parking
is it easier to dig underground?
idk
You'll miss out on solar panel space in return for not needing a parking lot, but let's be honest stores aren't installing solar panels
im just guessing
At least not supermarkets and the like
Which is actually a big waste tbh
During the design phase, the thickness of the roof beam that failed was reduced by 27% to a size incapable of supporting the loads above, even with lateral bracing. The reasons for this change have not been determined. "The beam was greatly under designed. The beam column assembly lacked essential lateral supports. Failure was inevitable.
💀
Lol
They were just trying to combine the car park's floor with the store's floor
Duh
But yeah that entire multimillion dollar project was riddled with issues
Just poor planning and design
And trying to cut costs at the same time
"cut costs"
wtf is steam on with the new pricing btw
you could get a legion Go 2 at a similar price
They probably lost more money than if they built it right the first time around
Always have
Cutting costs means just pushing expenses forward with interest
Valve not trying to sell at a major loss due to ram prices being jacked up to infinity, gotta amp up the price of the deck
That thing’s 2 grand now btw
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Station_Square_collapse here's all the details if you're interested in the case study
The Station Square collapse, also known as the Save-On-Foods collapse, commonly referred to as "Cave-on-foods", was a major structural failure of a new supermarket and parking facility in Burnaby, British Columbia, Canada. On April 23, 1988, within minutes of the grand opening of a new Save-On-Foods store, a 6,400 square foot (590 m2) portion of...
Looks like it was an overestimate i see one for 1500
Still overpriced
yes
Wait no
The chain is still around to this date and everyone still knows it as cave on foods
Most if not all these handhelds are not worth it for the price
Yup 2 effing bands
alright
If you're going that far, just get a PC or laptop atp
I guess we wait for Intel G3
All to play games on low settings under 60 fps at 1080p with 50% resolution scale
That I don't understand
I can understand how Nintendo gets their moeny now
And hardware
Yea
Damn they’re basically a media conglomerate
@opaque sedge woot time
Competitor handhelds making the switch 2 look good
I have a switch 2
Chat…
why tf am I looking at handhelds
huh ?
If you already have a PC and laptop do you really need a handheld tho?
Lol
I was just looking at it for fun
I refuse to use bazzite on my pc
cause I do work on there
and I'm stuck with a mac
Oof
Hmm maybe i should get this for my steam deck
what I'm saying is I want to try steamos/bazzite
So you only have Mac system?
Because if you do have a regular PC you can try dual booting
Na I have a PC with Cachy OS installed
Oh
I don't want to do dual booting
@opaque sedge actual trash slop of a drop tn
It's for work
Alr
yeah only decent thing i saw for myself was the microsd
I'm genuinely waiting for arm chips to get better for handhelds
I would enjoy the microsd if the switch 2 wasn't pay walled for their specific sd
Not getting those x86 variants due to how stupid expensive they are
And battery hungry
batteries 🤤
they still can't hop over the compatiblity part
Great to have a steam deck
Bfr nov 2025

ngl I was always thinking of getting a handheld
That I'm somewhat annoyed with
then the gods at woot aligned the stars
gave me a handheld with a 2:1 keyboard and screen
I remeber Valve is working on some Arm compatibility thinginy
I forgot the name though
If it's true I hope it's good enough where the performance is nearly 1:1 someday
Yeah they call it fex
I genuinely wonder if the steam frame is even gonna be able to run pc games all that well
LEts see Intel G3 by July
Looks like an old ass chip
So the funny thing
Don't worry personal computing will be long dead by then
it isn't supposed to run it
AYN Thor: Exclusively 6'' AMOLED Dual Screen Gaming HandheldQualcomm CPU | Customized Full HD 6" AMOLED Touch Screen | 3.92" AMOLED Touch Display (Bottom Screen) | Android 13 | 6000mAh Battery | Hall Sticks | Lite=SD865 8+128GB(UFS3.1)Base=8Gen2 8+128GB(UFS3.1)Pro= 8Gen2 12+256GB(UFS3.1)Max512=8Gen2 16+512GB(UFS3.1)Ma
I like this one
Cloud ftw I guess
Unless the frame is gonna run the games at a super low resolution only sharpening the areas where ur eyes look at
Nintendon't DS
Oh I do need myself a 3DS/New 2DS/New 3DS
They advertise it as a standalone headset that can run steam games independently
Their wanting you to stream the game from a Machine or PC
wait
How u gonna get the games tho
Can run switch games! 🤯
Yep cuz if that were the sole purpose of the frame
Why would they develop fex
Nintendo's gonna hunt you down like a dog for saying this
ah
eBay
outside of streaming, the steam frame is also a good vr headset tbh

it's native to steam vr and all that
Nintendo ninjas don't mess around yes but I got the strats fr
diffrence between Pro and max for the thorn ?
Ez
Reminds me of the cyberpunk dialogue mentioning arasaka ninjas
So with the base model you already get a decent chip
SD8 gen2 is pretty solid for what it can do
VPN shield activated
DAMN IT
but still good
WHAT AM I GONNA DO WITH A 2230 SSD

This is gonna get fsr 4 soon
You don't need it
Guys the arc g3’s gonna be over 1.5k…

kay
I mean its def not gonna be cheaper 😭
(Which is usually the intent most of the time anyways)
Hm
Rule #3
If i ever won a giveaway i would prolly get immediately attached to the thing and be unable to sell it
:p
Silly
If I don't sell something it is usually because I am too lazy to go through the hassle of selling it for pennies
qualcomm's attempt to enter handheld market directly
I see
it basically is the same chips as 8 series stuff iirc
I think i can sell the 4070super for 5 hundies

Alright
What are bands
1k
Handheld not a phone anymore? Bummer
What is more importent
Is one band
Why are you calling a grand a band
Cuz
A phone that I can take pictures and videos with (It's kinda my Job)
Or basically a better 3DS + emulation
Didnt the 3ds have a camera
Does the better 3ds not have one
The 3DS had a trash cam
by better 3Ds I meant AYN Thorn
No camera?
I remember other kids in school taking pictures during field trips with the 3ds camera
oppo Find X9 Pro
Which has top tier phone camera
or
Ayn Thorn: Inifinite free games
WHICH IS FUNYY cause
Both run andriod
Free…
Then just do the phone and get one of those control pad thingies for it
The camera on the 3DS was worse than practically every other contemporary camera except the ones on other handhelds
And cheap phones that were reskins of turn of millennia Nokia phones
Fellas i need ram advice
I have a 2x8 pack of apacer rn and i found a guy selling a 2x16 or 2x8 of hyperx fury. All the same specs, which one would run better with the apacer
don't waste your money
A creeper exploded in the Xbox server room
Fine i’ll buy more fake lego sets

Isn't there no promo ?
Wait
wrong channel
Wait
I can install Bazzite on Ayn stuff ?
ah just the Loki

If not for this AI shit
I could have put my spare pc parts to use
For less than 4 hundies
Ok looks like 4 tb ssds are somehow better value than 2tb and 1tb ssds rn

moar
I wish it was 0.1
but they're 150/250
Tried comparing the festival sites of Fh6 and Crew motorfest
Um what?
My guess is 256gb of storage and 8gbs of ram+ wildcat
not bad i guess, if you slap linux on it
I'm a student
but bad for windows on 8gb
Without a edu email
full 700 is honestly
hard to swallow
but an xps for that little cash is definitely unprecedented
i bet that 700 can get someone a very good m-series macbook with 16gb of ram
M4 airs are around that price
ya
i think dell can push the price lower if they just come out with an even lesser model
with a less fancy screen
mmm, 5.2kw psu
what's this for, a small llm server?
80+ ruby certified psu, that translates to at least 96.5% peak efficiency
What igpu does it have?
nothing good
wildcat lake is low end
it's aimed to be aggressively priced to try and compete with macbook neo lol

I wonder if the costco b390 laptop for 1500 is still available
That thing had 32 gigs of ram and a 1tb storage
Damn costco’s including 4 games with the lego 2
This is the one with the b390 right
Damn
also 35w maximum tdp doesn't look good at all for how low power intel wants this to be
but it should still be efficient anyway
it's based on panther lake
Trying to find this in costco’s website, they had this abt a month or two ago
Damn crazy deal now that i look at it
do you.. really need that tho?
…
if you didn't get it before, it's a sign that maybe you didn't need it this whole time
Mhm
You already have a 5080
Budddy
Man Android keebs take a while to get used to
Desktop
at the rate people are asking me to replace their phone screens for free, i gotta get a heating station or a heat gun to make taking the damn phones apart easier
a hair dryer does the job, but it's just a slow process
do you.. actually heat a phone's adhesives with a soldering iron?
Probably using hot air lol
makes sense
I only can solder audio cables so I only using cheapo soldering iron. But good stations have hot air as well which is cool
I tried to do an online race in FH6 and the other players were so much faster I ran out of time before finishing.
I would not recommend it.
Only the hot air would make sense but even then that's kinda risky
Especially when even just a hair dryer typically would be barely enough
Heat gun would be the best option though
I mean is it even possible to find decent screen replacements ?
most of them in market is trash copy
Depends on the phone
The major phone brands generally have a way to purchase a new screen
the phone i'm performing the replacement is an oppo a94
it's clearly not a genuine replacement, the screen that i'm given
it's my step dad's phone, and my mom decided to ask someone at work to order a screen for it
Sometimes only repair shops can buy them though but I think more places are selling to individuals now
Ah
it's lcd, but compared to a shattered oled that's the original that is currently on it
it's definitely an "upgrade"
it's pretty gnarly
it basically obstructs the screen
touch layer still works, and it displays an image without any issues
Also huh
Can the LCD really fit? Aren't LCD screens thicker than OLED because of the backlight
Hmm
Also you need to remember to get new adhesive
The old stuff is definitely not reusable
imma just clean the old adhesive and seal it shut with some adhesive out of a tube
my mom assumed i'd have adhesive laying around, so i had to order one for her lmao
what's left is we're waiting for the adhesive to arrive
it's an adhesive specifically made for adhering screens to chassis
should be plenty strong, and meltable if i need to replace it again
Yeah that could work
Though for adhesive from a tube, you need to put a pretty conservative amount or it could stick to other things which would be not ideal
i'd have preferred tapes
but my mom is trying to be as cheap as she can
not my phone, so i'm not too concerned
i just gotta not mess stuff up
one good thing about this specific oppo model is that to take the screen off, i don't need to dislodge the glued-in battery
the sub board that connects to the main board has a display connector facing forward thru a little cutout in the chassis
still do need to take the side bezels and back cover off tho, but that's not too hard
yeah there's lots of lcd copies of screens . and most of them lagging because it's not 120hz lol
I wonder if there has been... Actually nvm I've already seen someone do it before
Technically beyond what I'm even thinking of
Specifically a sedan that is lifted as tall as a lifted truck
Or higher
Damn this Honda fit is missing the plastic on the blinker/brake light
The bulb is still there but instead of red it's just the regular bulb colour
They just did an illegal left turn
There was only a single left turn lane here and he used the lane you're supposed to go straight in to turn left
Ok Garmin video speichern
@elfin mural I hope this isn't true
The XPS 13 only has 2 ports
1X USB-A
1X USB-C
so the xps is gonna range from low end to high end eh?
that's an interesting move
also tbh it's an xps, ports being scarce is probably part of what i expect
I mean
XPS's have been lacking ports
if i really need more ports, i'd get a usb hub
I kinda just need a Ultrabook with SD card slot Oled screen touch screen and 1 USB-A
SO like
So much io
I sure hope there's at least a few more ports on the other side
But at the same time not really because that would be a terrible place for more ports on the side where you would use a mouse
I'm gonna bet 3000 MSRP
Real
pretty sure this is a placeholder
damn Intel
where is the 338H chip
Maybe
Oh yeah the article said that there were no images for it apparently
So yeah this is just a random placeholder probably
this is prob the XPS 13 then
Wtf
I just looked up the xps13 and it only has 2 USBC ports

I ain't ever going to even consider that laptop
I don't mind needing a docking station for like when you're at a desk but I don't want to drag around a dongle for plugging in a projector
pretty sure my next laptop is a xiaomi one
No longer getting a framework? Lmao
i wish wireless mice would begin using usb-c dongles
or at least, ship with an adapter
My uh
some do actually
yeah mine came with both. I leave the usb c in my backpack for when I go out
I would be the target market for this if it didn't cost $800
X870E Dark Hero but it's the "ROG 2006" edition hence the 2006 color scheme
FUTURE
2006
that's interesting, i'll see if the mouse i ordered has a dongle or not
I would figure out a way to mount my new-in-box Zalman CNPS9500 cooler on that board
it's estimated to arrive in 10-18th june
It certainly is an interesting colour scheme that would be mostly covered by every component you put in there
I just went with a cheap b650 board (open box MSI Tomahawk) for AM5. It is sufficient for the 9800x3d.
My PC is using an MSI board too
X470 Gaming Pro. Bought it used on eBay for $50 complete in box
I haven't had any weirdness with MSI boards yet like I have had with Asus
To add on to that I do have a job as a photograpgher and me like touchscreens
one Asus board I had would always tell you it failed POST but then boot fine anyways.
Anecdotal evidence is interesting to know but seldom leads to a pattern
That said
I've had boards with weird issues from every single manufacturer
Anecdotal evidence can lead to a hypothesis at best.
maybe a working hypothesis
Anecdotal evidence is why nobody buys Intel anymore
I said what I said
Steve from Gamers Nexus is an Anecdotal Evidence Broadcaster
I've had no issues with any of my MSI products either so far
it's easier to take anecdotal evidence to heart than facing the boring, and sometimes painful reality of having to research on your own
but I still have intel 🙁
Though I do research on everything I buy so I don't buy the shit stuff that don't work
I had an entire swath of bad MSI boards from the AMD 600 series chipsets
blindly buying parts is never a good idea
what would happen is they'd tell you there was a USB overcurrent error. When nothing was plugged into USB at all
it would prevent POST
That goes for anything honestly
We had dozens of boards like this
but it was dozens, out of the many hundreds we bought
gambling is rigged in favor of the house anyways
and the problem stopped happening on new boards so I didn't give it much thought
so there is certainty in you losing money
meanwhile many people will be like "my singular item stopped working therefore this entire brand is shit"
yeah unless someone buys like 50 of the same model and half of them die that's not a strong argument
I've talked at length about the Intel issue before
and I get steamrolled by anecdotal evidence
and even then it can be a bad batch
or model
its still fun to meme on those though
two very specific models from a single series of PSUs they made
oh trust me it's fun because, I was able to get dozens of the unaffected models of Gigabyte PSUs for pennies on the dollar when all that went down
anyhow, i find high polling rate mice to be a gimmick
speaking from my personal experience of using a mouse with 1k polling rate
i just switch back to 125hz after finding no benefit at all
sometimes I've found high polling rates to cause micro stuttering in games
all while gaining majorly in battery life
high polling rate takes up more cpu load, so yeah
Some people will agree with Steve when he posts a "shitting on a brand" video
Other people will disagree and call him a clickbaiter
I'm in a third camp where, he'll say "These two Gigabyte PSUs are bad" and I'll go buy the other models which are heavily discounted. Because the people watching the video will go "Gigabyte PSU bad" and not pay attention. So I can get 850W Bronze PSUs for $32
it can harm performance
The thing I hate about social media is that not only that happens, but a fair bit of people take something they saw as Gospel and keep saying something is bad even though they've never used it, and didn't fact check it
But to be fair, I have technically done this sometimes, though only if I have enough evidence to do so, or if I'm not certain I would make it clear that I'm not certain
i just find it ironic after finding out that high polling rate on mice is a marketing gimmick
people still blindly cheer on for everyone to go for high polling rate
Now, worse than average support and RMA processes ARE grounds for dismissing a brand
125hz already reports enough inputs more often than any human could tangibly make an input lol
Only if you're a new component buyer
NGL I think the main cause of people thinking that all gigabyte PSUs are bad are all caused by people who were just meming on it and the people unaware are assuming it was the truth
fr nobody needs a 10,000 Hz mouse
imma die on this 125hz polling rate hill
cuz it has proven to me that it has more benefits than anything higher
If you're the type of person who builds a PC out of a mixture of new and used parts. Like, let's say today you were building an Intel 12th gen system as an upgrade from your 8700K, because of budget limits. You wouldn't shy away from a 12900K because Intel had bad RMA practices
You wouldn't care
yeah true
You would still want to try to avoid parts that are infamous for high failure rates ofc
Well yeah of course
pretty sure every brand has their stinkers
and mouse sensor.. honestly the tech has plateaued with no meaningful improvements. it's the one area that people also hyperfixate on in mice
I have anecdotal evidence that, out of the roughly 1500 PCs my day job shipped with Intel 13th-14th gen CPUs, we had approximately 3 failures that were legit
"look this has paw 3395, get it over this crappy paw 3311, the extra money is worth it dude"
the only reason i'd pay more for a mouse if it utilizes optical switches and encoder
We had more than 3 failures all together but most of the failures were as a result of people flashing their BIOS and leaving the motherboard's default power limits enabled. Which fried the CPU
Funny enough, almost every person who had that happen had said the only reason they flashed their BIOS was because they heard it needed updating from a tech friend of theirs
or from youtube
so indirectly, the fearmongering actually caused additional failures
that cost my company money
which is why I'm so fiercely against the type of content Steve makes
In my opinion I feel like he doesn't do enough clarification work and plays it up for the camera. But that's my opinion.
the more i watched gn the more i realized that he's pseudo-informational in the cases where failures happen and he blows it out of proportion
though drastic reporting has a side effect of forcing swift acts, so i'm personally on the fence on being negative on him
I think Steve started off being more informational but slowly drifted towards more sensational content because it was what works
I'd be more concerned with durability of the switches
that's why i want optical switches and encoders to be commonplace on every segment of mice
rn they're reserved to expensive stuff, for obvious reasons
My main thing about mice is the features pretty much
Like a side scroll wheel is so nice to have
Or an unlockable scroll wheel
He no longer does enough positives to outweigh his sensationalism, in my opinion
even though I've personally benefited from some of his stuff
like the Gigabyte PSU thing, buying the unaffected models for pennies on the dollar
I did the same thing with MSI MAG CoreLiquid coolers
fair enough
first generation had the gunking up issue which Steve uncovered
I bought the V2 models for like, under 40 bucks new for 240mm ones
his increased sensationalism has also led me to watching his vids less
because when that dropped, the community went, "MSI cooler bad"
I stopped watching GN completely around 2 years ago because it was already feeling too sensationalized for me at that point
He's made several videos about ASRock motherboards burning up AM5 chips
and never found out why
he never actually took the time to find out the core issue causing the problem
unless he published a video about it that I missed
I understand he has a business to run, he has people on payroll who need money to survive
money comes from clicks
it is what it is
Just the way he presents things it's like they're all the end of the world, and it could use a lot more proper framing and context in terms of overall industry impact
et al with the Intel thing. The way he made it sound, it was gonna be another bumpgate all over again (for the uninitiated, that's the nvidia issue which led to extremely high failure rates in NVIDIA GPUs in the 2006-2008 timeframe. Famously, macbooks had big recalls due to this)
That was like a near 100% failure rate
because the materials used to secure the GPU die down to the green PCB substrate were inappropriate, and it would lose contact
Intel issue was not made big enough
I don't really consistently watch techtubers much. space has gotten pretty boring tbh. I only ocassionally watch an ltt vid. probably mental outlaw is my most watched but idk if you consider that a techtuber
It's a matter of when the cpus will become unstable instead of if
If everything in the space was fine and dandy people would be complaining he is too positive all the time
1440p360hz to 4k360hz would be a decent uplift
Yeah LTT is somehow one of the only techtubers that makes content that is fun to watch sometimes
Definitely not all of it but there's an occasional one that I would click and enjoy
Though they're definitely not very informational anymore
But they're... In a way less sensational
yeah not really I place I am going to learn something
literally bigger blunder than the Pentium division bug IMO
I want a small phone
is it?
I'm just speaking from the thousands of PCs I've built with those processors and the 3 legitimate failures we've experienced since 13th gen launched
Which was almost 4 yrs ago
I'll let you know if we start getting dozens of claims
as of right now it's 3 out of a few thousand lol
I wanna guess the msrp
it would be insanely bad
I'm also not saying 3 out of a few thousand is acceptable. I'm just saying it's a pretty far cry from your claim of "they're all going to become unstable"
I just would have anticipated more than 3 legit claims in 4 yrs
if they were ALL going to become unstable
that's the thing with halo products
you either wait until it trickles down into cheaper skus
or pay the early adopter tax
I ordered a black mousepad
Never getting a white one ever again because they age terribly
form who
My local tech YouTuber merch
Made at the same factories Linus uses but more oriented for my buying power
Ig shipping costs are also lower since we are china's neighbors but Canada isn't
lg refers to ?
Hey question do you think I should swap out the top exhaust and rear exhaust will noctua chromax gen 2 fans and leave the Arctic p14 pro reverse blade fans as side intake for a less clutter of RGB
I have the noctua 140mm chromax gen 2 fans as bottom Intake just cat see them cuz they in the basement of the hyte y60
Hm
This is blasphemy
I sometimes think of putting oil on my mousepad so that it feels smoother
maybe you should get a glass pad
Next up, a headset with a block of steel inside one ear and made of very flexible material

Top of the line CPU 🔥
I really hope it happens man, further gives the game personality
I wonder how many threads simulating pong you would have to spawn to fully saturate 192 Epyc cores if nothing else was a bottleneck.
65535 sessions of pong
Guys is this for $600 CAD a good deal? And is there a 6gb version of 5050 or is it a typo?
I thought it's 8gb of gddr7
https://www.acer.com/ca-en/laptops/nitro/nitro-v-15/pdp/NH.QZ9AA.003
I would trust none of the specs given Acer themselves say this laptop comes with DDR4 running at 5600MHz, Acer has no idea what's in this thing. Let alone Staples
I can't find record of a 6GB mobile version of the RTX5050 existing, but it wouldn't surprise me if it did
And well, for 600CAD that's really good, just keep your expectations in check. The mobile 5050 is listed by Techpowerup as being tied with a desktop RTX2060, but I would take that with a heavy grain of salt. Additionally the 13420H will hold that card back, even though it's only theoretically as fast as an RTX2060, as Intel's laptop CPUs are notoriously slow. They have to clock super slow in order to keep within heat requirements for laptops, because 13th/14th gen is not at all efficient in the first place
Just be sure to update the BIOS all the way to the latest if it doesn't already have it
and run the Intel processor diagnostic tool on the laptop before buying it
It's also a nitro V so it's going to be hot and loud. For $600cad though you'd have a hard time finding better. Would you be getting a used one?
The 4050m had 6gb of gddr6. The 5050m is 8gb gddr7. So if there is a typo they either messed up multiple things or it's a 4050.
real spec is most likely ddr5 5200 mt/s
I have a similar model but with i7 and 4060m
big question is if that RTX 5050 isn't heavily power limited
it will be on a Nitro if its anything like my Nitro with 4060M
That's not a question
its 75w
The answer is Yes™
max q ah gpu
well that isn't too bad, there are cursed 4060m's that are like 35w
The Q stands for Quotient bc Nvidia divides the power by a factor of 2x to 5x lower
thats not a 4060 anymore
RTX 4030 lmao
Radeon iGPU would wipe the floor with it
If it's like 80 instead of 110 it's not that big of a deal. Doesn't degrade performance too much and the cooler is terrible anyway on all the budget models except maybe the loq.
adding salt to the injury oof
its true
like literally my ROG Ally would beat it
with an undervolt it might be better
Truth
I used to have a Lenovo with a mobile 3060, which outperformed a 4060m
Because it was allowed 75w
Sorry I misspoke mine was 90w
my laptop's 4060M is enough for light VR gaming
Idea pad 3 Gaming edition with a 5600H
its actually a crime because some laptop manufacturers don't properly label their gpu specs
they be like: "RTX 4060 8GB" and thats it
no max power listing
Acer tells you the wattage on their specs site
Also Acer: "DDR4 5600"
bare minimum
13th gen mobile doesn't support past 5200 iirc
Kind of werid they'd be overclocking it too. It's supported up to 5200 natively.
intel nerf moment
It's nerf and nothing
hey jimmy give this dude a whole lotta nothing
that 32 GB is wrong too. Real max is 96 GB IIRC
even if it is ddr4 it would be 64 GB max
It would depend on bios/microcode.
checking my laptop cpu for example (R7 8845hs) it shows a whopping 256gb
Got me wondering what my specs are
go check bruv
Mine is max 32gb because it's soldered on the package.
in order to unlock my 4060m's max power limit i need to use this bloatware called "Omen Gaming Hub" and nothing else

if not the gpu will cap around 80w iirc
reminder that AMD made a GPU that used an SSD as a pseudo VRAM extension
super cursed card
not even 3200
Nope
And Plundervolt locked
😡
I gotta find out my max power draw too for the 8gb “5070”
i hate plundervolt and their lame ass excuse to prevent people from undervolting their laptop cpus
Like 2016 - 2017
whats your laptop model?
I think
1WH
1 watt hour?
heh jk
AMD is no stranger to cursed video cards
💔💔
its the aero 16 correct? @upper wedge
Which is really bad because 10th gen really needed it
X16, there’s an older aero 16
They once used HBM in a laptop GPU that got included with an Intel CPU. That one takes the cake for cursed IMO.
both 10th/11th gen
and it was severely kneecapped HBM
1024 bit instead of the normal 4096 IIRC
I love gigabyte so much
8 GB on a 7 class is criminal
well its still being pushed and theres nothing you can do about it
-nvidia
though this is happening
I remember when a 70 class would have been called high end
and 80 was basically enthusiast
570/670/770/970/1070
things are so messed up now
heh
exactly my point
lol yeah 70 class used to be considered high-end
60 class was mid-end
Go back far enough and even 50 class was mid-end, I'd imagine
the 50 Ti maybe
Definitely Ti
Yeah, people forget that OEMs can just decide not to support something
which is kinda absurd to not support something the underlying hw does
Meh
They're an OEM they have no obligation to support anything they don't sell
Support doesn't mean it won't work. Just means Acer says "we only guarantee 32GB will work, YMMV"
yeah I've seen an HP desktop that only supported one RAM config and refused to boot with anything else
HP is notorious for whitelists
would be infuriating if a cpu had undervolting support and the OEM blocks it
or if there's an nvme slot but the OEM cherrypicks which nvme drives are "compatibile"
💰
giggleybite
A lot of people (prolly old builders who recently upgraded their builds) still seem to think 70 class cards are high end

NVIDIA moved the bar when 90 class came out with RTX3000
my zephrus has a 76wh battery too for a 3070ti
80 class shall become entry level because every other class below will be deleted and there'll only be a limited number made to be sold at lottery for $2k each

how much for AC adapter power?
TWO HUNDRED AND FOURTY WATTS
BIG
SMOL
Damn the newly announced intel handhelds have a bigger battery than ur laptop
yea thats enough for a 3070ti laptop
there was a laptop that used an AM4 socket before
Woah
my igpu laptop i'm getting has a bigger battery than my laptop
it would have 86 watt hours
What laptop
thinkpad t16 gen 4 (arrow lake)
Yeah thats size of the batteries on the upcoming intel handhelds
💀
How much
1.7k cad
all that for just 2 hours of gaming
not a good one
At low settings below 60fps
and that wasn't even the only one
must be thermal throttling 24/7 though

Thats a hot top
oh shit they're bringing back socketed laptops
Could it even reliably power the ryzen 9s?
No he linked an old article
Unless u found a new one?
probably with heavy throttling
orange you glad i didn't say banana
Bruh 2010s tech was like the 2000s era for German cars
Damn what kind of batteries did those things have
The same kind they use in electric cars now
Lithium ion?
Damn evs are taking our batteries
It was a joke about an SLI laptop needing a battery the size of an EV
"Forget form. Let's stuff a desktop GPU in a laptop and make it like 10cm thick" the same as "let's put a V10 TDI in a family SUV"
We should go back to laptops with two batteries. And one is externally accessible and you can hotswap them while the smaller internal one takes over.
Dont macbook pros have like 4 battery packs in em

pretty sure even liquid cooled laptops have been tried
I think they have a really weird shaped battery is all. Like it's a bunch of littel batteries so they can squeeze it into the available space but it's functionally 1 battery.
multiple cell configuration yeah
I meant one like this, no screws or anything just a spring latch. And it has a backup battery inside so you can just swap this out.
WEll that one's a dell and I don't know if they had that feature. Lenovo did but I don't have one laying around.
Dell was among the first to offer modularly replaceable batteries
the Latitude C series started it all
and this is like, around 1999 with a Pentium II mobile
Two bays in the front of the laptop which could each accept a battery, a CD drive, a floppy drive, ZIP drive, secondary hard drive...
so you could equip them both with batteries if you wanted
the true predecessor to the Framework
A real keyboard and more than 2 usb ports too. Modern high end laptops kind of suck.
Dell Latitude was a line of laptop computers manufactured and sold by American company Dell Technologies. It is a business-oriented line, aimed at corporate enterprises, healthcare, government, and education markets – unlike the Inspiron and XPS series, which were aimed at individual customers, and the Vostro series, which was aimed at smaller...
Dell ruined the latitude series IMO
if anybody has a late model Dell C series laptop, like a C600 or higher, I'd love to own one
they were super popular 25 yrs ago
There is no reason for there to be Latitudes that are 2 in 1s
I ended up getting a slim 7i aura for work. Would have rather had a thinkpad e14 but they don't sell the lunar lake with the high res screen in the US.
Very glossy, a bit thinner than I'd like but other than that it's okay. The 9i they don't even give you a usb-a or hdmi and a lot of other high end models don't either. Some don't even have a combo jack.
Are the 5070m 12gb out yet?
Some are
Every company had to make 2 in 1s for some reason
I wonder if I can shove a bigger battery with a similar size into the laptop
Even ThinkPads have 2 in 1 variants still
I saw one someone using one in my college 3 days ago
yeah but they didn't have to shoehorn that into the business line
Wait they made all of them 2 in 1s?
no
It was the craze for a while. I'll be happy when they quit obsessing over thinner and lighter. I want ports and a battery and a keyboard with good travel. I don't care about being 1mm thinner than last year.
I only found out the XPS 13 only has 2 ports on the entire laptop and that's crazy to me
The new xps have a terrible keyboard too. Just square tile keycaps with almost no gaps and the whole thing is flat so there is no indexing.
Latitude line was discontinued last year
neat
this thing
Dell calls their business models "Dell Pro" now
💀
cringe ngl
You still get the jf but that's it.
They finished making their logos minimalist now they're making their names minimalist too

they also ofc shoehorned copilot nonsense into them
That's just mandatory now. Windows is going to let you rebind the key into something useful like back into right alt though. So... progress.
It's n1x cpus right?
whats this????
oh there is one Latitude model line left... and its cringe
grossly overpriced
also "Dell Pro Max"
