alot of people don't realize this but when the isp technician comes over to install the router, you could tell them where you want the router to be placed, and as long as you have a crawlspace or an unfinished basement, they may help with installing the router in the ideal location (if it requires crawling through the crawlspace, they might not do it for you, but they can leave you with enough slack to run the cable to the area you want it)
