it makes psus more efficient and require less wires

dell is known for not the best repairable things but they do alot of work in the server space, and their psus are very high quality

their desktops that use the 12v only psu has an efficency that iirc could have been rated at 80+ platinum (or some other crazy high efficiency)

it's basically just a modified server psu for use in a desktop form factor

you can tell it by the fact that the psu is thin and long
