VRR is basically the generic term? you need to either use gsync or freesync to use vrr basically

it's not a feature you need on a desktop pc

mainly phones use it, switching between 60hz and 120 for mid end ones, and higher end phones going from 1hz to 120hz depending on the content

one of the main selling points of VRR was to stop screen tearing (without needing vsync) but i haven't had any screen tearing on any of my displays in the last 5 years at least without vrr nor vsync

but the flicker is almost certainly not going to go away
