Just a reminder 3070 was $499 and was within 5% of a 2080Ti ($1200 GPU)
Nvidia can try when they want to
Yes and no
Got threatened by AMD and decided to bury them during 30 series. Bye bye AMD
Never recovered
oh nah i was talking abt the fact i'm surprise it only got up to an extra 100 since the 2070s given recent pricing and performance gain trends for graphics cards
I’d trade my 9060xt 16GB for a 5060ti 16GB
"only"
yeah that kind of only but an only nonetheless
DLSS transformer model is like actually worth getting an Nvidia card rn
@median kelp I like going down memory lane with this stuff. So when the RTX 2070 launched for 499 it was between the speed of a 1080 and a 1080ti. 1080ti had MSRP of 699. So for 499 it wasn't "atrocious."
No offense to anyone
It was the first 70 card no to beat the 80Ti in a long time
The 1070 was faster than the 980Ti, had more vram, and had a $379 MSRP
Don't forget that
yeah its pretty good but in cyberpunk they got this issue with foilage having this annoying pixelated noise and dlss 4 makes it look even worse
It was also significantly better than the 5700XT at launch
Mostly because of the RDNA1 driver shenanigans
Value diminished a bit over time
This is why the 2070 being slower than the 1080Ti for $120 more than the 1070 was absolutely insane
But now the 5700xt outpaces the 1080ti
But the $100 nvidia tax was worth it
By a good bit
It actually had RT so
20 series was the worst value cards at that point since the GTX 400 series
20 series did have bad value at launch but it wasn't from the performance. Compared to recent uplift? It was amazing
AMD even with their issues stressed out Nvidia so much they made a baller 30 series
how big was the performance bump to 30 series?
Insane
ik 40 series had a big one
Yeah compared to recent "generational improvements"
Now nvidia just raises the prices without improving performance
40 series was actually really small improvement but was insane on efficiency gains
RTX 4060
The value issue with 20 series was they pushed ray tracing as an amazing new technology. And none of the cards could run proper RT smoothly
huh fr wasnt the 4070 on par with like the 3080 or 3090
I love how your statement doesn't include me giving you anything
3090 isn't a good example
It was only 15% faster at most than the 3080
yes but that's because cuda count was increased
You give me a 9060xt and 5060ti

That wasn't the agreement Roomba
And like 5% over the 3080Ti
oh right marginal compared to 3080ti
5070 however..
The agreement is "Do you have a 5060TI? If you have a 5060TI, I will give you my 9060XT 16GB"
is a different matter
They realized they could make the 4090 an insane class jump

And to make 90 series a massive class jump, they cut the 4080 to HALF the cuda cores of the 90 series
yeah the class that hypes up the genration its in, the poster boy
5090 is even more of a scam
5090 isn't a scam
5090 honestly isn't bad
MSRP is overpriced, actual price is even more of a scam
it's just not something everyone need
The 5080 pisses me off
I want a 5060ti 16GB, a 3080ti, or a 4070 to trade with this card
I need nvidia encoding
Imo the msrp itself is overpriced
The 5080 lost to 25% of games to the 4080 Super
i'd say 1.6k msrp is actually not bad
lmao Tulip the moment you said "2070 was bad because it didn't beat the previous flagship" the first thing that came to mind was 5080
remember inflation
It's not 1.6k tho
the fact 5080 is slower than a 4090 is atrocious
That's 4090 msrp
5090 msrp is 20 hundies
5090 msrp is 2k
The 1060 has the same % of cuda cores as the 1080ti that the 5080 has of the 5090
If it was 1.6k I'd be fine with it
but tolerable
5090 Founders cards MSRP was 2K
They literally are selling a 60 class GPU as an 80 class for $1000
I don't think any of the aftermarket cards launched with a 2K MSRP
and actual prices are 50-75% more
it's just that nvidia doesn't give a flying heck about gamers anymore
$400 markup is outrageous
4 and none of them have been available consistently
Well besides that one PNY one?
that's expected since ai is such a huge market rn
They've started to become more readily available yeah
That one PNY 5090 has been in stock at $2000 at microcenter for 4 weeks
interesting
It's not even that good at AI
The 5090 is going to suffer a similar fate to the PS5
My local microcenter has 15 of them in stock
That's the funny thing
im not talking about 5090
if it drops to 1800 ill get it
im talking about nvidia's HPC ai market
im kidding btw
Apparently that card runs vram at 105° (max)
Yeah that's one of the reasons why Blackwell was botched
All the silicon went to AI
PS5 and 5090 both had the same issue -
They were both COMPLETELY unobtainable for a very large percentage of their relevant product lifespan, and people lost interest
real
ps5 also finally getting cool looking games during the time people are expecting a new console generation 💀
I have it undervolted to 900MV at 2850mhz and it still pulls 430 watts max load it's insanely power hungry
PS5 has had some decent games tbh
Are they exclusively on the ps5 tho
most got ported to pc the next year tho
No console maker does exclusive games besides Nintendo any more
the only exclusives I still know of are that one DualSense techdemo game AstroBot
You shouldn't need consoles for exclusives anyways
other than death stranding 2 and maybe others not really
Tbh I play my PS5 pro more than my PC
Some days I am so tired from work I just want to sit on my couch and easily get into a game
oh right they have the demon souls remake and getting ghost of yotei soon too
but not a significant amt of exlusives
I do play games but I don't turn on my desktop PC every day tbh
Maybe 4-5 days a week
That's so crazy to me
Tech is more of a hobby than like anything else
I'm in I.T. I just really like the field and obsess over it
I know not everyone is like me. But I could never drop 2K or more on a GPU that I don't use every single day
In defense of the PS5
Tbh I could get by with just my 5070 laptop if I got rid of my desktop
Consoles have had better value proposition for certain parts of the year
is IT worth getting into rn? if so any particular field in it?
In defense of my PS5 pro I didn't have 2 weeks where my 4090 was unusable because of driver issues
With these stupid gpu prices
Network administration
is a degree preferred for that?
There is no chance AI is taking over setting up networks for businesses
I have a bachelor's in I.T. with a couple of certs
cisco and network+ likely
You can just get away with some couple big certs and work your way up
game prices tho boeing
and also.. the forced subscription to use online services
eugh
icic any examples of starting positions?
xbox + game pass then
Start with comptia network+ tbh if you're looking at getting into it
It by far taught me the most for what I'm doing
xbox on gamepass is decent enough ig
I would take courses for network+ but if network+ is the same as A+, it requires renewal every few years
It taught me even more than my bachelor's for what I'm doing
noted
Believe 5
So unless you're ready to jump into the field
within a year or two
I would hold off on taking the actual exam until you're ready to job hunt
Yeah and the full class (to teach you) + exam I would say is a 6 month endeavor (3 if you push yourself)
And will cost you at least a grand start to finish
That's if you don't really have any like background
If you have decent intuition you could probably do it in 2 but you better be ready to grind
Thing is, pattern recognition for AI for cyber sec is getting so much better that you need to also concentrate on that sector too
icic this is quite informative ngl compared parsing thru results on google
I believe within 5 years most intro level cyber security positions will be replaced with AI and you'll just have your high level techs working with it
I've been considering moving into network administration. like studying and getting my certification and stuff. I've basically hit a ceiling with my current position
Keep in mind the actual exam is proctored too. And no resources. If you're used to online test taking (and maybe a small amount of cheating) since 2020 the difficulty might hit you like a bus
what are entry level positions for net admin?
I've been A+ since 2006
It's great but make sure you know someone in that field, most net admin teams tend to be very tight nit from what I have seen and I would not have broken in if I didn't know someone at my current company
im pretty good when it comes to test taking ngl
I'm grandfathered into having a non-renewal A+ from comptia
How the hell
I'm 38
They moved to a renewal system around 2008 I believe
how do u usually get to know people like that and get into fields with their help? always ha a hard visualizing it
Yeah I didn't even know they ever had non renewal
2010 to 2011 was the transition. If you got certified before December 31 2010
then it doesn't expire ever
I didn't actually get into network administration at first. I was a level 2 support tech with my IT bachelor's and my friend had moved over
They had an open position and I learned a lot very very quickly
I did 3 certs in 6 months and honestly was going to go insane
Tulip my Newegg account is almost as old as you are
My dad just turned 44
loyal customer?
icic this all feels so daunting to me, so much to think abt and not sure where to start
i should've locked in during hs...
Well honestly, if you just want a taste of it
you're wild for that
I think I was putting 45-60 hours a week on top of a full time job in
if i just want a taste for it? gulp
i respect the dedication
But they were offering over double what I was making as a tier 2 for entry net admin
I saw dollar signs I ain't gonna lie

If you don't know much about IT and you want a lower cost option
Google IT certification is $59 a month at your own pace
I'm currently making 25/hr plus about $1000-1500 commission a month depending on sales. I think I'd make a lot more doing net admin
And if you push they got an accelerated 3 month timetable
Since im in an IT major my goal is to be a SysAdmin or something around that
(because yes it has good pay i think)
When I started on entry I was offered $37.50 an hour but I had to get my certs first
icic, hmm think i should look into that ngl, could even get college credits for certs thru my community college
Is that good or bad
its insane
Thats insanely good for starter
It's really good, most entry level is about $30 rn
goddamn now im seeing dolla signs
That's with a bachelor's that costed me $70,000 and 3 certs
I wonder what my entry salary would be
500 cigarettes
I make more now
Bro even micro center aint taking me
Epic reference
what did u major in?
I work for a warehousing company on their net admin team
Im guessing bro is in CS
I.T. without concentration
I did 2 minors instead of a major/concentration
I did data science (don't use, worthless with AI) and "support" (I actually used their a help desk agent)
CompTIA?
or is the third just A+
I mean Network+ is CompTIA as well
They might actually line up with my career
A+ wasn't specifically required
I can get 5 aws certs for the price of a+
I needed azure because my company uses it
so what specific specialty u go into in IT is dependent on certs?
what career are u going for?
IT = keep up with the times
Engineering
I heard they changed up azure certification recently
um i hope u graduate with a whole head of hair
Impossible
They're redoing a lot of Microsoft certified
i genuinely wanted to get into engineering ngl
What are they changing
didnt attempt it tho, home situation was bad, and in my eyes didnt feel like i had enough to work with to get through it
Not sure and I don't think I'mma renew mine since I already know what I'm doing at my current job
I heard they're overhauling the entire Microsoft certified
Microsoft is a pain in the butt for certs
hehe you think Microsoft is bad
Micromid
I'm kinda at a crossroads
wait until you need to get an Apple certification
It's either going to be computer engineering or software engineering
i dont even know where im at
Which is now required to work for Micro Center's service department
I thought they weren't so bad with all their materials and renewing
Although I have not taken a cert with them yet
God as a tier 2 I struggled with Mac OS because I didn't actually own a Mac
I feel like one of yall have taken discrete math
I think CE is more worth it in the long run because if I need the software stuff I can just do a cert
Nothing at my current company uses anything apple
hate how its part of my IT curriculum
Like no thank you
already a W
S24s were issued
beautiful
Yeah deal with Samsung
do u know what is changing tho
Procurement price was $340 a phone (it was this year after s25 came out)
Nope didn't even look
Imagine not having to do math
bliss
S24 is the first year Samsung committed to a 7 year update cycle too for base level security
guys does green tea have smth else other than caffeine? feeling more alert than when im on coffee
These are stupid easy to get esims on too
I thought the point is that it's not supposed to be caffeine filled
Coworker told me they got all the phones up and running in 2 days for over 100 devices
Or was that peppermint
green tea has more caffeine than black
what
Yeah I was thinking peppermint
and when I say green tea I'm talking about actual loose leaf green tea, not the bottled and canned crap
dunno my eyes feel wrinkly af but im feel extremely alert and ikd like i can do math ig?
$340 a phone is also insane bulk price for a one year old model
yeah that's legitimately nothing
And it supports dual sim for people with multiple roles too
I'm on an S24+, my carrier was doing a trade-in deal when it launched
i've never tried loose tea leaves
dunno if teabags count
S24 ultra for me, trade in deal with my job benefit was $300 trading in a note 20 ultra
$700 trade-in bonus on any qualifying phone from Samsung. And I happened to have an S10+ kicking around so I traded that towards it
I paid $300 for my phone
Can you do my math
Please
Then I pay US mobile $210 a year for unlimited data on Verizon it's beautiful
I paid approx $500 for mine but I have the 512
arent u in ur 3rd or smth 💀, im technically still at a first year level
I have the 512 as well, 256 ain't enough if there's no SD card tray
Nah I'm first year
I'd be complaining a lot more if I was in 3rd
also went with the plus instead of Ultra simply because they're internally identical aside from the lack of S pen and the main camera is like 50MP instead of 200MP
i should sleep ngl almost 2am
It's the first year the Plus sways more Ultra than base
thanks a lot for the info and tips @median kelp
Okay I actually use it as a Bluetooth remote
The most
that's funny
Like remote camera button or to control presentations
Then they got rid of the Bluetooth on the s25u
I'm never upgrading
That's what my wife said when they stopped making the Note
and then eventually security updates ended
If you're connected to a display doing power point, you can press the button and it goes to next slide
that moment when tomorrow is the last day to complete some programming assignments and you haven't started yet
🗿
gotta lock in
These go one of two ways
Do you wanna see something cool
Takes 2 hours, works super fast, and you're like " oh okay nice"
Oh yeah I need to get the laundry into the dryer
Or you're trouble shooting for 20 hours straight
Binging monster energy drinks
And crying
well... Luckily its a beginner programming course
but its java
Bingeing*
😭
Is the e still present?
OK so...
Bing and yahoo
new?
I have an update regarding the full refund not that the guys who saw my original message are still here
If anyone said this to me I'd probably die
what refund?
I'm ducking
Java is by far the easiest to learn language and is my favorite
hang on lemme ask Jeeves
I was just given a full refund on amazon for something that costs around 800$
Jeeves nuts
Because Amazon was at fault
Your age is showing fr
to each their own, hopefully i find the fun in it
I'm just old enough to know the early internet tbh
My dads main email is still an aol email
And the best part is that I can keep the item once it arrives lol
i see
of course it is
man LUCKY
I'm interested in the back story
why nothing this good happens to me
He says he keeps it because it's hilarious to see reactions
Java, Indonesia
In a way yes an agent just ruined my order by mistake and that costed him his job
I'm kidding I'm kidding
Not his job
Probably
👀
So what's the back story
was it a gpu?
But we got to an agreement that I would get a full refund if it won't arrive by the original estimated day of the delivery which was in October
if you share your story I'll tell you how I got a free GPU during the shortages in 2021
But after some talking
I managed to lower it down to 2 days
And now they said they will just refund me regardless
I have all in writing
Wtf
long ass delivery
It really was a huge inconvenience
Nat 20 speech roll
Yeah the package hasn't been shipped yet and it's been 14 days
Now 15
I'm assuming this isn't a sold & shipped by Amazon item
The agent somehow just reset my order
I got refunded for a CPU I bought off of AliExpress (ryzen 7 4700GE) because it didn't arrive
But then 4 months later out of no where
And my gift card balance that was applied to the order was just gone
This package with literally 9 different shipping labels showed up
Had been redirected so many times
I got 2133MHz ram instead of 2400 and I didn't even bother to return it
In short it was just a pain to deal with
Me too
@copper fable but what's the item
this reminds me of that one dude that bought a used xbox 360 (i think) and it arrived a year later, bro didn't notice until it reached his doorstep
A gaming monitor
and who's the actual seller
$800 monitor
A known company
oh that shit is gonna arrive broken as hell
More or less
Doesn't mean it's exactly 800$
But anyway, it is a very good monitor
I ordered a gaming monitor for my wife on Amazon a few months ago because it came with a free key to Monster Hunter Wilds
Sold and shipped from Amazon can still be a pain. Had a PSU that had been opened, swapped out, and resold. No name power supply. They replaced it for me but took 3 weeks to process the old one and send another unit.
Actually something else
28" or something
They legit shipped it in its original box with no extra packaging
Ultrawide?
Yes
Since @copper fable isn't giving a full story, I'll give you guys one and it'll be super enjoyable
Would be faster to buy another and then return the one you got right
I mean I was sitting in front of a 2k monitor and I could barely tell the difference
And I have a 4K monitor
because 2K visuals are goated
I would but then it would take forever
"Erm acktually 2k is actually 1080p 🤓🤓🤓"
I havent gotten many free things. Got a free upgrade from 970 to 1070 during 2018 gpu shortage cuz prebuilt had defective GPU. Also got free lego mindstorms ev3 computer thingy cuz mine had a defective screen (but is otherwise functional)
Hahaha
It's not just that guys
You are not going to believe me
Can we talk about how inexpensive monitors are? I bought a 4K 144hz monitor for $800 in 2021 (Samsung Odyssey 28"), which was a super good value at the time for high refresh rate 4K panel. Same monitor is often on sale for $300 now just 4 years later
For free... again amazon's fault
Wtf
wow this is actually unfair COOL! 👍 👍 👍
I used welfare money to buy a 5700XT
During GPU shortages I ordered a Radeon VII on eBay because it was supposedly around the same performance as RTX 2080 but with more VRAM.
It arrived and I wasn't that impressed. So I opened a return, eBay generated a return label, I sent it back.
The guy who sold it to me had moved, and he hadn't updated his address with eBay. So it went to his old place. Signature required, since it was an expensive GPU. They didn't sign for it, they marked it return to sender. I got the GPU back.
I contact eBay and they tell me the situation with the address, and say it's up to the seller to issue me a new label at his expense. He doesn't. I get refunded.
I'm like gosh it's so annoying they are making mistakes but at the same time: keep making mistakes
Because I profit from it
Hahaha
I mean free is free
I can literally buy a 8TB nvme
GPU shortage was a wild time, and probably the funniest too
I have that promise in writing as well
so many bad decisions were made
I bet you most people here don't even know what a Radeon 7 is because that card failed so spectacularly
HBM2 AH CARD
After I got refunded I sold it on eBay for over $1000 because shortages
But well I like amazon
Even if they wouldn't be giving me free stuff
Their customers service is so good
I had started a regular auction for like $99 with no reserve and it got bid up to over a grand
Amazon be jank sometimes. If Newegg shipped faster it would be my preferred over Amazon because I've never had an issue with Newegg
But I am addicted to 1 day shipping
Sometimes 5 hour shipping
That reminded me of when a guy selling me a mobo forgor his 512gb 970 evo. Contacted him and he said he'd send me a shipping label to whoever he could sell it to (he wanted to sell it but didnt want to pay shipping effectively twice), never heard back
Radeon VII had a niche
I bought more items on ebay than amazon/newegg and never had any issues yet
Wasn't a very good one
I'm really close to Amazon warehouses so sometimes it's same day shipping
Oh then there was one time
But don't you get it I PRAY to have problems with their items so I can get compensations hahaha
Even though I'm rural GA
Because they are the goat when it comes to compensations
From my experience at least
They just take weeks to fix the issue for me with no extra compensation
I sent in a Ryzen 7 3700X to AMD for RMA because it kept blue screening and they sent me two back brand new complete with the Wraith Prism coolers
You need to know how to talk to them
I've mastered it
You can too
Hahaha
When I sent my 13700K for RMA it was the most annoying thing I've ever done
oh you're that guy
Gunboat diplomacy
I mean I don't do anything illegal
That scene was probably the dumbest bit of the whole movie. And that movie had a ton of problems
I mean who's going to look worse here
Intel tried telling me to go through microcenter because it was a "bundled product"
I'm just letting them know bout my issues and most of the time I profit from it
😂
The consumer or the multi million dollar corporation
Microcenter said that only applies if they sell it in a computer
Sent me back to intel
For example even if my item is partially defective they would give me a full refund most of the time
So that's a profit
Intel is insistent
Intel after seeing 14nm again:
I get a signed letter from the person at my microcenter explaining
14nm++++++++++++
Such a yummy node
i have 25" 1440p 240hz ips precalibrated and very deep dci p3 coverage
for $180
9980XE
Only then does Intel take my RMA for my dying 13700K (launch batch with clear degradation) after 2 months
Skylake
nutty price
And takes 3 weeks to ship another processor
con is it is smeary
They were insistent I had to go through microcenter because I bought a motherboard CPU ram combo
....
but overdrive fixes it
Monitors have gotten cheaper these days
that's dumb
it can overdrive to level two with no inverse ghosting
I'd still use it because im currently using a VA panel
another con is 1 year warranty
Especially OLED/QD OLEDS compared to how they used to cost
Oh only 1 year
That literally only applies for pre built where the CPU is sold in tray versus in box so idk what Intel was on about
i still think it will last though
The bundle I got literally had a boxed unit
You guys know what the biggest problem is with warrranties, is that in the US, they can deny you warranty if you don't have an original invoice
Well the funniest part about the monitor is that they've told me that monitor is non returnable so if it arrives and it's defective or damaged, I can get a full refund without returning the item
So if you receive an item as a gift, companies are allowed to just tell you no
So I kinda pray that it will arrive a bit damaged but functional hahaha
Warranties are also allowed to be non transferrable in the U.S.
Sony for instance, if you have a PS5 that you got as a gift for your birthday literally last week, and stops turning on
they will tell you to send it in and then they will charge you to get it back
But I shouldn't complain either way
Meanwhile at HP:
They've done more than I ever thought would be possible
have parents do it :troll
So if you buy something and lose possession of it (gifting or resale) they are allowed to have it non transferrable
then worranty works
I actually ran into this with a second hand zotac GPU
Yeah it's a scam
:troll
It was 6 months old, vram died, but the seller on Facebook marketplace sent me the original receipt/invoice
Gigabyte pulled the biggest scam on me though.
out of all the companies I've sent an RMA in for
I only know that the manufacturer doesn't allow to return the item either way so there only way it to just trust the customer and give a full refund
i hope my sf750 warranty transfers
Gigabyte is the worst
But of course I will send them proof regardless
They told me even though the warranty was active, the original buyer had to be the one to request for it, even if I had proof I purchased it from them
If that ever happens
Asus RMA:
although it is an op unit i should be good even if i have no warranty

I sent a Socket AM4 motherboard to Gigabyte for RMA because one of the memory channels died.
Their agent took apart the AM4 socket, but was not careful, and broke some of the plastic on it.
They claimed it was like that, and offered an out of warranty repair for $100. The board was only like 80 bucks to begin with
Should I just accept the refund and save the money or use it to buy something else?
Lesson learned I need to document the condition of anything I send in for RMA
wtf
Cause I can techincally get a 5080
Always take pictures before you do
Because the super one isn't coming anytime soon
Get a 5070ti **** the 5080
Is it for MSRP?
Yes of course
5080's are available at MSRP all day rn
Yeah nobody wants a 5080
They were still at $1200
999$
And for $1200 why wouldn't you get a 5070ti
I'm seeing it now
I don't like the coolers on the primes
What size PSU do you have @copper fable
The ASUS Prime GeForce RTX 5080 features a 2.5 slot design with a carefully arranged layout for the shroud, heatsink and heat pipes to let the three Axial-tech fans leverage chassis side-panel ventilation and deliver optimal thermal performance. A premium phase-change GPU thermal pad provides sup...
Zotac solid line is better than Asus prime
So about that 750W
Prime = Cheap
Not sure if that's actually good for it or not
Which exact model
Zotac solid is the best MSRP line IMO
Corsair CX750 something
Is the MSRP solid down to $999 as well?
I don't remembe
zotac pascal went so hard
CX750 is trash tier
Not that good
cooked
If you're gonna spend the money for a 5080 then spend the money on a PSU that won't explode
double cooked
I don't think it will explode lol it will just not last for long
And it will probably crash more often
You called?
Dont worry, Intel Core i5 110 is here
This is spoken truly like someone who's never had a PSU fail
Well that's a link if I ever saw one
shortest newegg link
I would buy a 1200W platinum if possible
Just to be futureproof
The zotac solid better than the Asus prime for an MSRP card
@copper fable what's your CPU
Same price
i have never had one fail but i have also never used one for a long time
Lian Li EDGE1200W
It's gold
AM4 motherboard, Ryzen 7 5800X
Need to get that upgraded as well
Basically a whole new pc
🥲
Cause then I'll need ram
B550
man you lucked out alright
I will actually just buy a new pc because I want this one for hackintoshing
Using the RX 6800XT
With a B550 chipset and 5800X you still get PCIe4.0
I got a thermaltake tough power GF A3 1200 Watt for $105 on sale
Yes but I want hackintohing to work
That's my current PSU for my 5090
So I'll have to get a new pc
i think soon hackintoshing will end
I know the GF A3 is only a B rated PSU but for $105 I couldn't resist
eventually it will be mac silicon only for future versions
think its like late next year or just some time next year
Rosewill has some solid PSUs
Yes... but again current macos will still function
And it will last for at least 5 years
It's good enough
yeah if they keep support for a long time should be good
Anyone wants to choose the parts for me?
RTX 5080 Ryzen 7 7800X3D/9800X3D
Do you want it built or are you gonna build it
Never built a pc myself but I know how to install the gpu, ram and nvme... but never actually installed the cooling and connected everything to the psu etc
But I guess I can try building it myself
and never installed a motherboard into a case
Shouldn't be that hard right
lol
Yes hahaha
But you know at least I know how to put a pcie expansion card like a capture card hahaha
Kidding though, it's really easy
Oh lord my cable management would be damned
I knew i was gonna see a plug
I've built maybe 60 or so computers over the years but like my cable management is YIKES
lemme just
That's how I got 2.5Gbps ethernet by installing a pcie card
me using itx:
No I'm not...
forced to manage
But again I can just use amazon
Okay low-key why would you need more than 1gb/s
For buying the parts
Because why not? we already have 2.5Gbps
then I can't build a PC for you sorry lol
I mean I don't pay for the internet
No but I mean, can you choose the parts
I've never felt bottlenecked by 1gb/s
Or even anything over 500mb/s
I did when I installed GTA 5 using the rockstar games launcher hahaha
Okay even at 1200 down that we get from att
When I first moved here we had 300 down but really was more like 330 down, then the isp upgraded our plan so we got 500
Oh and by the way, how much do you pay for unlimited data plans in the states?
and i thought 500 was fast
Mobile data
now we have 1.2 gig but i get like 600 max in my room
A 90GB game takes 10 minutes
More or less
varies by area a lot tbh
Like literally I go make me a drink and it's done
But average
Why would you need faster than that tbh
might even go as far to say pricing can be hyper local like housing
I pay like 11.96$ for a 5G 10,000GBs a month
It's called "unlimited" but it is actually capped to 10,000 GBs a month
But who even reach that amount in a month lolL
not me definitely
for example we have a plan for $80 a month for 1.2 gig
i use like 2tb at most in a month
Why is it so expensive
but thats the same price as no plan 500
fr
and in europoor that is the case too
Lol
then the lowly french pay like 80 for 8 gig up and down
if not even a little cheaper than 80
I mean...
in romania you can get 1 gig for like 10 usd per month
But who would want to live in Romania
Sorry for saying that hahaha
They stole it from Hungary
I'm kidding
there are so many isps in romania that the prices got ridiculously cheap
america nightmare

@copper fable what country are you in? I'd have to set pcpartpicker to your country to see what parts are actually available there
Israel and wait you can choose the country there????
I didn't know that
yeah otherwise it's pointless
because I'd be choosing parts that may not be available where you live
french get 8 gig fiber for $50 a month roughly
Israel is not currently in the list
yeah I was about to say
if you go to pcpartpicker there's a dropdown at the top right corner for the country
Yeah makes sense but you know even though newegg is sending to Israel it doesn't mean the shipping costs are not like 100$ or more
what if you order it from the EU
In amazon I just ask for shipping refunds but most of the time they have free shipping
I didn't know Amazon offered service to Israel, that's cool
I mean it'd be more insane if they didn't
A prominent mediterranean nation not having amazon
wdym. We take a lot for granted here in the States
Yes of course and we have a free shipping promotion since like 2020 I think
And with the current uh
the current status of disagreements between different countries in that general area of the world
But not for everything
I don't just assume everything is available everywhere right now
It's great that everyone in chat is a rational human being and not starting stupid arguments
And for things we don't I just go to the customers service and they offer a shipping refund
Yeah hahaha
But yeah, my expertise in choosing components is limited for other areas of the world
It's either extremely overpriced
If you're going 9800X3D i definitely recommend a Liquid Freezer III liquid cooler if you can get one
if you can't get that cooler, then a 7800X3D can be cooled with a lot more simple means
So no in our case as long as it's sold and shipped by amazon or amazon exports llc, then it's the same price
And in a very funny twisted way, it's sometimes cheaper for us than for you as you have taxes and we don't for things that costs like than 75$ (import fees)
funny thing
it costs around the same for people to smuggle gpus from the US to china
Hahaha yeah but usually it's only more expensive by a few dollars
compared to how much the consumer pays
But you have same day delivery
We get same day delivery on some things
And everything is basically available
but it heavily depends on what part of the US
You know how many times I wanted to order something and then realized they don't ship to Israel
Yeah but even at the worst case scenario shipping don't take more than 5 days max
as an example, one of my friends lives in a city in Wisconsin. A lot of people live there but it's not one of the really large cities. Think like, 50K people
And the items you normally would think would be same-day or next-day delivery
he gets 3-day
that's with prime
Oh
Lol
Still very good
I'll pray for 3 days shipping
I only once got a package from amazon within 5 days
And I was shocked
I've never experienced that before so I felt like I'm privileged hahaha
Have you lived in Israel your entire life?
But yeah it usually takes around 10 - 20 days
Yes, indeed.
I would have no problem with moving over to your country though
Things are very different in different parts of the world
But that will probably never happen
I'm sure there are things you enjoy about Israel that we don't have here
I know...
Yes of course
There is something special about this country, all the holy places and the people.
It's different than the rest of the world, don't know how to explain it.
But if I had to choose then I'd choose the U.S when it comes to freedom, at least for purchasing whatever I want without being limited hahahaha
i hit a peak of 780 down now i understand the ax210 love
i am far from the router and this is also 5g
It's just that the VATs make things more expensive, the same gaming monitor that you'd pay 699.99$ for, I would get for 800$+ dollars
But that's true for the rest of the world
if my desk was in its old spot and i had a tri band router i could maybe get close to a gig over here and get full speed over there
with 5g i prob could get 1 gig at my old spot
I'm wondering how much I'll get using my mobile data
I had mobile data internet and it was not good
Yeah but it depends
Speed varied so much and I had constant nat issues
If you have it tethered to your PC and you don't have WiFi/Ethernet availabe
That's what my friend does
He doesn't have internet at all so he uses his mobile data
I was talking about like tmobile home internet
Ohh home internet
Good enough for gaming
I have used it before
No I was talking about how mobile data can be a good option if you can't get home internet
Cause it uses 4G maybe?
It can be very bad you know
Nah I think it is how iphone tethering is
But my phones are old so idk how good it is now
I mean you could just get the cheapest 5G phone available and have basically a replacement to a home internet
5g on my phone is fast, but the tethering speed is very low
Not necessarily
How do you tether it
Like with an actual usb cable?
I think that's the best way, no?
My older android was faster but still very slow with tethering
i have 5g in a decent enough area
Cause it's using 4G
it's not a replacement for home internet at all
latency is problematic
for real time online gaming
Nooo you don't get it
I'm saying
For cases where you can't get home internet
At all
sadly that's my case
Yes latency would be bad
so im living with 5g
But still
Correct but what I am trying to say is that my iphone has 5g but has even slower tethering
that sounds like hotspot throttling
I see
not the phone itself
First let's tether it with a usb wifi adapter
Has to be
Then with a cable
like the carrier locks your speed when you tether
I have seen it be locked, like unusable but my android had none of this
OK now it's tethered
I'm running the same speed test
Oh wow
WTF how
I'm getting somehow more
And latency isn't that bad as I thought it would be
'
Still great ping yeah
That's pretty usable
It actually is
And have that in mind
That
I'm using a usb wifi adapter
If that even matters
Now let's test it again but this time it will be tethered with usb cable directly

OK WTF
Bigger number betterer?
OK I think I know why
Dunno why my download latency is so high
it does, majorly
phones have weak antennas compared to an actual router
Even less maybe
But still that's impressive
The previous one I mean lol
So you are saying that my wifi adapter is way better than the actual phone's antennas
I mean generally
Would you say I better off using a usb wifi adapter?
Instead of having the phone itself tethered with a usb cable?
USB A TO USB C I mean
You could prolly test LAN speeds with smth like OpenSpeedTest or smth. Been forever since I last looked at tethering, but I think when I last looked at it there were speed penalties cuz built in modems dont like working on two network things? Idk, could've been wrong at the time and very much could be wrong now-a-days
Pretty sure you can also do reverse tethering through adb commands if on Android. So the PC is the tether host

Well I only use it when it is 100% necessary so it doesn’t really bother me
It is very very rare that I would use it
If I tethered more often then I would have looked into it
I slept on this cpu

In this video, I'm testing the AMD Ryzen 5 7600X3D vs the AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D with the RTX 4090 24GB in different games like Fortnite, CS 2, Minecraft and Cyberpunk 2077 in 1080p, 1440p and 4K gaming.
The AMD Ryzen 5 7600X3D came out in 2024, it has 6 cores with 12 threads, the base frequency is 4.1GHz and the turbo frequency is 4.7GHz. The R5 ...
R5 way better than I thought
Genuinely surprised with that
Besides cyberjunk it uses like 50-60w
linux driver penalty is nothing
So an update
Another agent decided to not honor the promise of the full refund
I just quickly ended the chat and went to a new agent and that one said they'll be giving me a full refund once the order has been delivered
Talking about amazon
My wife has been fighting a case with eBay trying to get a refund on an Xbox series X that was supposedly in immaculate condition
But then we got it in
And roach fest
So many roaches
That they’d peed on every circuit board and everything was all corroded, didn’t even work when we got it
Quite literally tore the whole thing apart and cleaned it with alcohol and had to scrub the hell out of it
I went to sleep but it better not have been a deez nuts joke
These companies tend to hate scammers lol. I had Amazon once email me back from a support request to tell me they yeeted a scammer that I reported lol.
What
Drunk fb market posting
Bro i straught up bought a pc for it to shut off and never work again
6 hrs in
Lmfao
I got it Saturday n it stopped working Saturday
that's rather unfortunate tho
Almost started crying hopefully can get a different one

bruh
Where did you buy it from?
Opportunity to socialize? I'm single now and my friends are always busy. Yeah give me that opportunity pleaseeee
I should finish my bachelors degree at the college I work at (I think they'd give me like six free credit hours and I'd also get scholarships lol. I could probably pay out of pocket maybe like $250-$400)
