I wouldnt put it past humans to make shells that big
and this is somehow not just as bad?
They're just not all that good
mini Gustav gun shell
They used massive guns against the Theodosian walls
like a whole build
Gustav was 80cm
But it's not about the size
with brands
It's about how much kaboom you can pack into ot
Or armour penetration if you're trying to get through thick armour
and size lets you put more charge, but yes a lot of other factors matter too
So a "modern" 16 inch gun on an Iowa class battleship would outperform a larger gun from say 1453
shape and design is hella important for AP
Would massively outrange it too tbh
Also one of the reasons why Dreadnought trolled the seas
fire rate likely way higher on the modern
The older designs simply cannot match the range and firepower of Dreadnought
And they're firing actual uh
Well
"hella kaboom" for HE
ancient ship vs modern is a one sided blood bath
And "hella penetration" for AP
Lmao
The secondary guns would obliterate an entire fleet
@hoary zodiac what if i sell my pc before i go to college and get a matx/itx blackout pc
like the ancient one may not even be able to penetrate the hull enough to sink a modern ship
Laptop
even with a magical sneak attack
i have a macbook alr
It won't even be able to get NEAR it
not m series but still really good
yeah that is why I said a magical sneak attack
ancient ship would be dead before even saw the modern one XD
The problem is resupplying and refueling
Which
Good luck getting coal or oil
Start drilling
can only imagine the carnage an HE shell would do to a wooden ship
isnt that like itx size but matx price?
It's significantly bigger than the smaller itx cases
But not that much bigger than larger itx
well ill be getting when like 60 series and 10000 series is out so
On a practicality level standpoint compact matx is more practical
Macro-ITX when?
You can account for more
Like gpu size changes
Or new hdd
On average compact matx cases are bigger than the smallest of itx cases
cause i wanna do mechanical engineering and doesnt that need a really good computer
But against the average itx case
case I plan to buy can accomadate something like up to 18 HDDs
It's not that much bigger
Depends
Really depends
aerospace focus
A lot of unis have remote software
also i want to game on it and have it be portable so
Well you can absolutely do CAD on weaker systems especially these days
can you do it well though
Just like the dual purpose secondary batteries on USN and RN ships
Helped a lot in the pacific theater
I managed to do a little of it on an XP machine in highschool
Depends
Like
What exactly are you doing
It depends on the software, the complexity of the task
great question
complexity of the projects involved will dictate what you need
And a lot of other factors
A decent overall rig will be good
Just get something that's good price/perf
do you guys think am6 will be here in 2027
obviously a project with 16,523 parts will be harder to run than one with like 7
Imo I care about the price/$ rather than the platform
I think AM6 should hold off for DDR6
If it's not accessible it practically doesn't exist for me
Like the 5090
I still refuse to acknowledge the 5090 as a real product
$3000 gpu should reflect $3000 performance
Bugatti of consumer video cards
Not slightly better 4090
I'm not even talking about the gaming aspect
Even for productivity it's terrible
AI bros got even better hardware to play with so
5090 is even worse in that regard
ones who can afford it yeah
the real hw is like $10k
Yeah but at that point you're getting a lot more bang for the buck
You're getting handicapped a lot on consumer hardware
and yet people still pay the insane GeFarce prices
We're really past the point where you can use the Nvenc/Cuda cope
Unless you're actually doing this for a living
At which point it makes sense
Because it's an investment
Like
CUDA is not even magic. It does not make a card faster enough to justify the cost.
Say for casual video editing
These days I'd unironically take a 9070XT and cope with the longer render times
Or hell
so yeah unless you need it for work then yeah
An intel
Like
The price gap is so massive
And on average the performance gain is so crap for the price difference
It's just not worth it unless those nvidia advantages are the main focus
The whole 50 series is bad value lol
Like if 90% of the time the gpu is going to be used for an application that scales extremely in favour of blackwell
That is the only scenario that makes sense
4060M isnt bad for what it is, my laptop has one
I have a 3070M
It's probably slightly slower than the 4060M right?
Both 8GB vram?
laptop I got for $180 then put aout $100 into for RAM and SSD
from a friend who thought it was dead
but later found it was not but already replaced it
I would've taken that in 2022 when I sold my pc
Wtf
My laptop was actually pretty cheap for the time
It was used
keep in mind 9070xt headroom for oc is crazy high and it beats 5070ti
Don't know how since the laptop model was still really new for the time
Well here's the thing
I'm applying nvidia bias
so yeah, less than $400 got me a laptop with 48 GB DDR5, i7 13620H, 2.5 TB SSD space, and 4060M.
And the value argument is still crap
That says a lot when I'm going out of my way to make nvidia look less...
Obscene
And it's still garbage value
now you know how the more reasonable Apple fans feel
Real
I actually really like Apple for prosumer uses
I really wanna get an M4 macbook
To test its compute performance
i hear those are good for battery life
Apple is great prosumer product but terrible consumer product
The consumer side is just overpriced crap
Yeah tbh the iPads are pretty decent
iPhone prices are obscene
Oh they know exactly what they're doing
this is one thing that if Apple starts failing in it will be over lol
💀
They need their products to be pretty. lol
I'd honestly take an iPad as a drawing tablet
The displays and apple pencil make a pretty compelling argument
still cheaper than some of the Wacom crap
istg Wacom went even harder on selling for the name than Apple did
Apple is marketing for mass appeal
Wacom has a niche market and kind of a monopoly
Not really because
China
Lord Thermaltake does not allow low tech devices to be overpriced
I put a PA 120SE on an x3d and it is glorious
The power of Chinese manufacturers spells doom for these kind of products
Based
Thermaltake is competing with themselves at this point
Which is the funniest part
the cooler is rated for way higher TDP than an x3D can do anyways
They've beaten every one of their consumers except for Noctua
Noctua had an actual niche so
Noctua strikes me as the Apple of PC cooling
They can survive unlike literally everyone else
Noctua going all in on acoustics + performance is honestly a great move in hindsight
Sets them apart from consumers
Thermaltake or Thermalright?
Because thermaltake just came in and steamrolled everyone in the market with low cost units
That is Thermalright.
You got the Thermalwrong lol
Will thermals take Thermalright to more than alright? More at 10
next step is going to the 120 SE with kryosheet
See
I'm a RK120SE enjoyer
Extra ram clearance
But that's not the main reason
Literally the cheapest cooler on the market
Thermalright does it again
Outcompeted themselves
I paid about that for my PA
This is actually stupid they're closing the gap with the single towers now
no it was within a year or so
Hmm
Maybe the price hike is because of model recognition
RK120 is relatively unknown for now
Tbh half of thermalrights' coolers are unknown
Purely because they make so many of them
And doesn't market them
The products market themselves tbh
Meritocracy
1000% worth it
Confuciussm at it's finest
The funny thing is I'm microing $4
While if you look at the macro market
The more expensive thermalrights still blow the competition out of the water
this cooler taught me how to clip fans on to a heatsink lol
I remember paying the same price for a single tower back in '19
PA120SE is cheaper than the cooler I bought in 2008
Do you remember the Macho Rev B
even without accounting inflation
with inflation accounted, it is a blood bath
$50 cooler
Actually came pretty close to a NF-D15
At least... For the time ofc
Nowadays the PA120 is way better
Both in performance and price/perf
At the time it was pretty good tho
Tho Thermalrights was a very unknown brand back then
I just saw it as the "WTF? $50 NH-D15?$ cooler
my 2008/9 cooler was like
So imagine my surprise
When several years later
Thermalrights does the same schtick again but this time they steamroll the entire air cooling market
I wonder why the Macho wasn't more popular back in the day
It doesn't hold a candle to the PA120
But back in the day it was pretty good in price/$
this went so hard late 00s
A double review checking out the Thermalright Macho Rev.B and Le Grand Macho RT! These are designed for CPU TDPs in excess of 240W, but how does this translate into performance with regards to a 91W 6700K? And can they defeat coolers like the D15S and Dark Rock 4?

Holy shit
Hyper threaded quad core
Unironically that overclocked would've lasted a decade
I OCd it to 4.00 GHz on air cooling,
no overvoltage either
even with locked multiplier
You can imagine how speedy Vista was on that
also had 1 TB HDD, and 1 GB GDDR5 Radeon HD 4890
That would've been good even in 2020 tbh
This was at a time where Radeon got the jump on Geforce for memory bandwidth
yeah so imagine how it did with games of the era
Especially with the single threaded perf
Wouldn't have to buy a new cpu until coffee lake
Great investment
it ran XP Pro x64 and Vista dual booted
Is that when RX 2900 XT or something
HD*
ATI Ruby still a thing?
HD 4800 series was first to GDDR5
I think I have a 4850
I have this thing lying around at home
I have a bunch of old crap in general
9500 GT
And I think something else I forgot about
And then jump to HD 7850
I wasn't even around in the PC space
Around most of the prime time of the gpus I own
Which is funny really
Although
I was rocking a Q9400 + HD 7850 rig in 2017
Funniest thing ever because it's terrible value relative to sandy/ivy bridge
But I thought it was cheap and I didn't fully realize that perf/$ was a thing back then
It was actually a lot more capable then it had any right to be
Heavily bottlenecked the cpu and DDR2
Still ran ghost recon wildlands at 25-40fps
Console experience
Which is actually pretty good considering that it is a literal pile of crap by today's standard
Gamers

Engineer gaming
alright
ive narrowed the laptop search down
its between the lenovo pro 5 or pro 5i

350$ seems like a lot
i think im going with the intel one
its faster single threaded
Neither
Get a 9070xt
good morning everyone
morning
Is this used PC worth $1100 CAD?
I5 14400f 10 cores 16 threads
RTX 4060ti
32gb corsair ram
1tb nvme ssd
Liquid cooling
z980 motherboard
Good morning naht
Yes
11... thousand?
$1100*
yes
Didn’t we talk about this last night
Yeah a few ppl told me it’s overpriced
that motherboard doesn't uh... should be Z690 or Z790 anyway
guys stop loving 9070 fr just tell me whats better
5070 or 5070 ti at 350$ diff
Why
5070, but it’s not really a good deal
A 9070xt will be much better at that price range
i love nvidia more
any other options but 4060ti? is it 8gb or 16gb? cuz that's a major difference
and it looks nicer
I think it’s 8gb
No you
but i see like 30% 5070 ti is better than normal one
so 350$ not worth it ?
also 5070 comes at 12 gb
well, depending on games you play, et. al., 8gb is probably enough but it's already getting to where it's too little so think about how that'll be in 3-4 years
For the games I’m playing it’s fine I’m just wondering is it worth the money or could I get something better for the same price
or in plain English: try to avoid 8gb graphics cards
so is it better to have 5070 and then sell it and upgrade to something like 5080 super when prices are cool ?
I'd think so. If I had to guess, the resale value alone will be much better because 8gb cards are getting to be too little
you are genius

lol thanks but I'm merely a parrot
Automod what is going on with you
if you can find a way to do 12gb or 16gb, you'll likely be in a much better position in a few years. New consoles should drop soon & they set the tone for developing games
@main loom I can’t tell what you said to get muted, so I can’t unmute you yet
Unmuted, ty for explaining
thank you
anyways i checked the prices again im wrong between 5070 and 5070 ti both are msi gaming trio
are 290$
I really gotta fix automod’s logs
Being a pain in the ass
785$ vs 1075$
if I'm understanding correctly, even Nintendo Switch 2 has 12gb of VRAM (ya unified memory but effectively the same thing for comparison to PC) & Nintendo usually has the most mediocre hardware of Xbox, PlayStation, & Nintendo
12 gb vs 16
At that point, it’s not even worth going nvidia
so you really think guys i can enjoy it with 2k and stuff for 2 years ?
9070xt’s are like $700
i really want nvidia
im being dumb
Lay out your argument why
Fsr4 exists on the 9070xt so 4k60fps is much easier achieved with frame gen
i mean because i really like nvidia more with the stuff and trust it more and i like the msi gaming trio version
and most of 9070 are expensive localy too
and witthout some cool looking brands
so im just now stuck in 785$ for 5070 VS 1075$ MSI GAMING TRIO VERSIONS BOTH
AND 12 GB VS 16 GB
It’s not $290 faster
well i know that 9070 is more worthy and stuff
9070XT is a really good product. FSR4 is--from my understanding--on par with DLSS & AMD is now pretty caught up in raytracing performance. Nvidia's drivers have been plagued with issues since like January... MSRP to MSRP, AMD is the better option but ig that's debatable since 9070XT at MSRP is a unicorn
i heard 5070 ti is the same as 5080 with oc so would 5070 have good oc ?
The ti is a lot faster than the non ti
@main loom are you US based
nope
if you just have to get nvidia, you'd be wise to wait a few months cuz supposedly the Supers are coming
Just go 5090 ez
ehh... also iirc (if rumors are true) the 5070 should be biggest uplift of all Super series cards too. I gotta check that tho but supposedly 5070ti & 5080 Supers should have 24gb VRAM like 4090
What country
so maybe 5070 is more worthy since a 280$ diff than 5070 ti , and i do 2k only and im more into esports and enjoying games with high fps
so maybe yeah waiting untill prices drop
then sell my 5070
and get 5080 super
saudi arabia
Oh if you’re into esports, no reason to get a 16GB atm
so to confirm the intel cpu shenanigans arent present on the 275hx?
i mean i do games also but at 2k
Just go with 5070
not planning for any 4k soon
5070 Super rumored to be 18gb VRAM btw
u mean 5080 ?
https://www.costco.ca/lenovo-legion-5-gaming-laptop-160-in-intel-core-ultra-9-275hx-32gb-ram-1tb-ssd-8gb-nvidia-geforce-rtx-5060.product.4000379404.html because i think im gonna go with this laptop
18gb vram isn’t something we’ve seen before is it?
RTX 5070 SUPER incoming The card would feature a full GB205 GPU. According to Kopite7kimi, who has been regularly sharing updates on the RTX 50 series, a new SKU is already planned for launch. One thing to note, however, is that these updates can change before the card reaches the market, although previous RTX 50 […]
oh
curious how the layout would work
9 2gb?
so i guess yeah 5070 more worth it
or 18 1gb
3gb chips iirc
Thats just weird
now time to buy new storage and cpu
A60 time
cant have my laptop being faster than my dsesktop 😭
you could get an RTX5050 & put it in a garbage can? lol
unacceptable
That 5090DD hurts to see
https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/list/JwBTTM
is this a good build
ASUS and GALAX RTX 5090 series compete in 3DMark Port Royal, establishing new world records Splave and OGS have taken the flagship NVIDIA GPUs under liquid nitrogen cooling. Officially, the average score for the RTX 5090 graphics card in 3DMark Port Royal is 37,726. Apparently, it is possible to add an extra 10,000 points to […]
Switch the PSU to a refurb from corsairs’ refurbished online store and yeah
@obsidian quest
My 1660S barely draws even a quarter of that
@sinful blade honestly man thank you alot i saw the diff between 5070 and ti its like more 10 fps
i have saved some money now
and would do the right thing
thank you alot
🫡
I wish Galax sold in the US more so maybe prices would go down lol
are they gonna drop the 5070 price slightly or?
since the 5070super is coming out
Hhmm
tbh I dunno but iirc for 40 series, the non-Supers just kinda stopped existing
they kept the 4070 around
damn I gotta be honest, this is some really nice looking garbage
dont really see cards like it
ig a 5050 does need to have some redeeming quality lol
I wanted the master chief lookin gpu from a while ago
Minimalist styling
this is a cool 4090
a little too anime for my taste generally but I like the green lol
I don't remember the master chief one tbh
It was a MANLI one
MANLI RTX 40 GPU with a spirit level MANLI announces their new RTX 4090 GPU from Gallardo series. MANLI has a new GeForce RTX 4090 GPU based NVIDIA reference PCB but featuring completely custom cooler. It’s a proper 3-slot cooler as well, so if you have no room for the crazy 3.5 – 4 slot […]
@sinful blade last question i really love the psu of asus gold aura i like how it looks and the straps they provide for the cables but it priced at 270$ while i can get seasonic for 175$
what you say ?
is seasonic a good brand
yes
Asus PSUs seem overpriced
i dont think that i will find good refurb ones
The actual Master Chief card does look pretty good though
but i really like the straps and the look of asus aura
i thought about the doom dark ages one
when actually i will not be able to see it
heck ig they stopped updating this https://cultists.network/140/psu-tier-list/
seasonic or corsair or which brand better ?
Corsair is usually in A tier with most of their psus
they should do something like this again but exclude Disney somehow... nvm ig that won't work nvm
I've never owned a Corsair PSU but heard good things
I usually get Thermaltake or EVGA
I haven't bought a PSU in awhile
Corsair doesn't make most of their own units, their lower end units can still be pretty bad, Seasonic also doesn't make some of their own crappy lower end units like s12iii
Starfield GPU was pretty good too
too bad the game sucked
shared braincells
i heard seasonic is doing asus psu`s
Then again I did try running the game on a 1060 6GB
i think that was below minimum spec
I ran it on 12900K/3080ti & it ran alright
but the game was so boring i didn't even want to keep playing
the crappy engine & poor optimizations were only the icing on the cake of a game that did way too little with way too much
29308490280 planets
& like 95% are copy & paste
I don't know why Bethesda is still messing around with the Creation Engine
to be fair, for the planet thing it's a given there will be some planets that will have nothing in them
but for the ones that had people in them, they recycled the same dungeons or something
HOF without white PCB just isn't the same
ya like identical
just delete those planets
don't waste my time lol
all they had to do was copy mass effect and no mans sky
Your wife stole some of your clothes
lol wym blue is a color
I only own blue, gray, and black lmao
I don’t own a single thing of shorts
There were unmentionables in that picture
good thing i didnt see the unmentionables
but anyway, if you know yourself you only own blue, gray, and black maybe she's on to something, unless for the blues they aren't really dark blues
It’s just blue, dark blue, gray, and black
no light blues?
sometimes blue can be so dark it looks like black, and its a bit hard to tell the difference between navy and black
lol I found my best ship I built in Starfield
If it’s cheaper for you, go ahead
Entirely up to you
i can even do 5070 ti or 5070 or even 5080 if im not being a dumb choosing 500$ and a 500$ mb
i choose r7 9800x3d and msi x870e carbon wifi
thats alone is 1000$
size comparison
that was the best part tbh
yeah the whole space exploration thing was lost on me because you could just fast travel to planets with no exploration needed
not like NMS where you can warp drive there
ya but occasionally you'd find other ships & stuff flying around
I mean the whole game felt incomplete
remember when it was cool to build your own keyboard? jthat always seemed so unecessarily expensive to me I dunno
i always just bought premade keyboards because the base was always so pricey
ya it was nuts
cool thing to do but some keycaps & stuff were like hundreds of dollars
especially those specialty keycaps
i thought about that nvidia keycap that looked like a 3080
had a fan you could spin
looks good
I want the 4090 enter key
But idk if I can remove my keys
ok ive decided on the 4tb
ya it's worth it imo
I always regret not getting like more than 2tb at a time for whatever reason lol
yeah i did that with 1tb
e f and g are hard drives
I have the same thing except all of my partitions are actual drives and they're all SSD's (990 pro m.2 SSD drives and 870 QVO 2.5 inch SATA 6 SSD drives)
so are mine
all induvidual drives
18k hours on a HDD is wild lol
Good, it's a terrible drive
why
Sata with shitty QLC and no dram
How lol, i've had zero issues with them and had most of them for 3 years now
There's nothing wrong with SATA 6 drives for everyday use
Hence why I also said shitty QLC and no dram
Bc its m.2's vs bulk SATA 6 ssd's lol
The Samsung 870 QVO is the company's new QLC-based SSD that reaches capacities of up to 8 TB. In our Samsung 870 QVO review we're taking a close look not only at synthetics, but also real-life performance, which is surprisingly weak, especially considering they want $115 for the reviewed 1 TB variant.
Thats like comparing a non m.2 ssd to a HDD and saying a HDD is bad bc of the price lol
OHHH you're one of those... throwing links is a instant block..
the hdds are cheaper
lol
Bro cannot accept that the qvo is a bad drive
im saying the fact that the smaller and faster drive is cheaper than the big and slow one is dumb
So are SATA 6 drives compared to M.2's with the same storage amount..
You can literally get an sn850x 8tb for $600 LMAO
Literally not the same drive (from the same company)
Hello all.
when did i say it was
Is anyone available to assist me with HP Omen gaming laptop issue I am having?
I hope you aren't giving your PC build customers QVOs
!ask
Thank you Steviejoe
All right. I have a 2021 HP Omen 15z-en100 gaming laptop. A few months ago the left side USB-A port failed. The Flex I/O connecter board #1 (I believe that this the designation for the board) has two ports: one is the USB-A SuperSpeed 3.2 Gen 1, 5Gpbs port, and the other is an HDMI port.
crazy how people can amass this much of a following with so little brain
Since the HDMI port is still functioning, I believe it may be just the USB-A port itself and not the board or ribbon
Literally consumer prices are NOT the same as whole sale.. 8tb 870 QVO SATA drives are $550 and 8tb 990 PRO m.2 drives are $585... I've been in business for 8+ years..
Would it be feasible to just replace the port without purchasing a new board or ribbon?
I thought you blocked me hmm?
Also, $35 more ($4.5/tbh) for a top tier nvme vs a bottom tier sata is a no brainier
Toxic af reported to mod..
I would imagine the ports are soldered to the board. USB-A isn't too complex so you might be able to do it?
bros malding that he scams rips off his customers
What is happening rn lmao
Dude is trying to justify the QVO to save a few bucks when nvme options are miles better
You're right Steviejoe. They are soldered to the board. I have been having difficulty finding the board and ribbon for my laptop, so I think the port would be the best option to save money. However, I have never worked on a laptop in that degree before. Just general maintenance, such as cleaning, replacing a battery or installing storage.
i just asked abt ssd 😭
you could try a repair shop
anyone with decent soldering skills could bang that out
Here's the problem.
Yeah same, ive not done much soldering let alone on a laptop board
¯_(ツ)_/¯
I moved away from the States back in 2016. I wouldn't trust the techs here to do a good job.
Where I live curently, in Ecuador, South America.
I can't take the risk of destroying my laptop because of my inexperience. This rig cost over $2k.
i mean the laptop port is broken alreadt
I think it's close to other IO that he doesn't want to break
The port failed. However, the HDMI port is still functioning.
i mean yeah
I believe the HDMI port and the USB-A port are on the same board.
So, more than likely it's just the port itself.
Possibly. I may have done it unknowingly.
Vex, I moved away from the States back in 2016 to Ecuador, South America. I wouldn't trust the techs here with this type of laptop.
Thta's the problem. Not many are.
Even though they say they are, they hare not.
are*
well idk what to tell you thne
either mail it to a tech in the us or deal with it 🤷♂️
The easiest thing to do would be to replace the entire board and ribbon. It's just detaching the original ribbon and removing the screw for the board. Then, attach the new ribbon and screw in the new board.
then find one ig?
I'm having diffuclty finding the parts and I was wondering if any of you have any suggestions of a good website to find the parts. That's if they are even available anymore.
I usually go to Newegg, but they don't have them.
I tried a few other sites and no luck.
top right
this?
Yes
That is two USB-A ports. I need one with one usb-A port and one HDMI port. Hold on, I'll circle the location of the USB-A port.
i know
but that area is the main board
only way to fix that is a new mainboard or just swap the port

I can't post pictures.
Corsair RM1000e - 1000w 80 Gold Fully Modular PCie 5 or seasonic 1000 watts
It's the port closest to the Ethernet cable port.
i know what your talking abt
thats the main board
not a breakout board
The sound of depression hitting
Well, then it's just the port itself I have to replace.
Which involves soldering.
Okay. You're right. However, could you please recommend a good website to get that port? It's going to be a SuperSpeed 3.2 Gen-1, 5Gbps port.
Someone needs to create a snap on and snap off port. That would make it much easier.
aliexpress tbh
Hmm. Okay, my friend sent me this website. I looked at the customer reviews and it didn't seem so good. However, I could use your opinion. Here's the link: https://www.digikey.com/en/products/detail/linkplex/LUB-3005-BE-001-J-29/21318777?gad_campaignid=17336967819
They don't. I'll need to send it to a courier and the courier will bring it to me. Another good friend. So, I will not be charged for shipping.
So, that part will work fine. Correct?
?
its a middle mount

@worn wave is sata storage without nand even worth buying?
looks right from the top
Sata ssds can be ok at the right price point
if you mean HDDs... yes it can be
I think nand is literally what a ssd is
What do you mean without nand then?
Nand flash chips are the storage medium
but like its 25$ more than cashc
I have 5 ssds
sorry the cache
Dram
For sata ssds you ideally want dram
Even HDDs have cache too btw
Brb Awesome
Nvme ssds don't need dram as badly
If you have m.2 slots on your mobo I would get an nvme drive
it will come down to if you value $ per GB or performance more
Prices have fallen a lot the past few years
yeah i am but i wanna replace some of my sata hdds with sata ssds
I put two NVMe drives in my laptop
if thats all it affects than thats fine
There are other factors to look at for SSDs too though
Reliability of the controller in particular
I should try put an nvme in my z87
but that should be a non-issue on the good brands for the most part
yeah i dont buy anything other than wd samsung crucial or seagate
MSI drives seem good too
Well ye those are the main ones
Bx500 is low tier. But if you're not running your OS off of it it might be fine
https://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/crucial-bx500-ssd,5377.html
that actually seems good
but do not buy some random noname SSD
Dramless sata yikes
$100/tbh is pretty expensive
thats cad
What happened to mx500
73 usd
crucial bx500 is 2tb for 163 tho compared to 200
where lol
I paid about that for my absurdly fast MSI drive. Rated at like 7000 MB/s and 1,000,000 IOPS
trusting second hand storage?
drive brutally killed load times lol
wait what the hell why are nvmes cheaper than sata

SSDs do wear but it's typically 1) very slow and 2) easy to monitor via software
only if enterprise. I would not trust used consumer drives
Less materials
40$ less materials?
enterprise is what you want for mission critical servers tbh
they arent rlly cheaper
for gaming, its overkill as hell
I am likely going to get a 20 TB enterprise HDD tbh for archival of things
Archival... one area where SSDs can not replace HDDs yet
I might separate OS install and other stuff across two SSDs since my laptop allows for that
You can have one unpowered for 10 years and come back to good data still being there. Do that with an SSD, and good luck lol
yeah dont leave those unpowered for too many months
might still be fine but you are overdue to refresh them
3 to 5 years is the limit according to google so solid chance this reminder saved some data
Doing another build
Specs?
Is this used pc a good deal for $1,050 CAD?
I5 14400 F 10 cores 16 threads
RTX 4060 ti 16gb
32gb corsair ddr4 ram
1tb nvme ssd
liquid cooling
motherboard z790 wifi
Decent
Damn it went down?

Get it
get it?
Yeah he accepted $1,050

i want a new motherboard
Goes hard
i want a motherboard that will let me run dual gpu
lolll

Oh so you want a Nintendo Switch 2? Well not so fast, BUCKO! How does it compare to the red hot PC handheld gami...
linus son is as tall as linus
lmfao
Typical atx board
Linus is a little bit taller
trash performance
and his son is like what? 13?? 14?
Smth like that idk
Dont really watch ltt like that
True and I like that
yeah, other youtubers.. you know everything
Good on him for doing that
he shouldnt get the legion go
Oh nice 🙏
legion go is loud, heavy, display is too good for the gpu
legion go has a 1440p 8 inch display and can balrey run that
Jay keeps things private too unless its something big with his health
Yall remember tech of tomorrow?
who
He had major health issues
ufd tech family has worst ngl
And his channel kept declining
if i had to get a handheld today id prob get the xbox ally x
I don’t think he uploads anymore
give me a ally x and a battery bank
when i get my laptop its going to be my main portable gaming machine
is this cp2077
I don't think this is a card
For free. Sure
Mb
Its not anymore
looks pretty good tho
yes
post or pre pl
IO heaven
post
i hate pl !!! raaah
I sacrifice 5080 and went for 5070 for it
i really don't like the move that they did when they did the level scaling
This mb is at 500$
Thx to @worn wave for the reco
i dont even know what that is tbh
thinking its an update i just said post
lol
Dang, that was fast lol
tldr: back in the day where you can headshot enemies with 30k damage with a silenced revolver
craazy
Yeah lol
now enemies feel the same wherever you go
Sleep
Well lemme know how it is. I haven't used one personally cause I have an apple watch but I've heard for $70 the cmf watch is pretty great
back in the day some areas had weak enemies and strong enemies
nothing that modding cant fix
it's baked in the game iirc
🤔
what did power ever do to you
college basketball?
@lone mango @fresh timber
My hood lifts up the other way 🗿
yes
you shpuld get that fixed
i know a great doctor for that kind of thing
how to convice my grandpa i need $300 to make the home wifi good
i don't think it's supposed to go like that
i woulf smash
tell him you're going to give it to blackrock
lol
im prob just going to buy xfinity wifi pods
i assume that's some mesh network thing?
Hm
we need it in this house
and by we i mean not me cause idc
pc ethernet, me happy
why am i overthinking this
theirs only a few place the router can go, and as long as i get ethernet i couldnt give two smacks
worst thing: Overthinking on tests
i just wanna get gigabit to my pc
nah, mods limit his speed to 300mbps
i underthink on tests
Beam tubers can be pretty annoying with monetization of their content ngl. I saw one that straight up just added super fast rivers to grid map and wanted patreon sub to download it lol.
Like nah I am not paying for a copy paste job in the map editor
not too long ago i watched a video of someone clowning on some of the cars downloaded on patreon, those models are legit ripped from existing models of the game leading to odd situations
Straight up I just remade it myself
In less than 10 mins
I would not recommend paying for mods that are not well known. Very few are worth the risk.
+potential added virus
And some are straight up stolen content
a shame really because i thought the modding scene for beamng would be pretty good
there are some but people wanna get them $$$
Yeah but unfortunately there are scammers among them
real
Hmm.. Wonder if any good USB 10gig NICs exist
Fr
Looks like there are but they are somewhat expensive for a USB 4 one...
I am debating waterblocking my CPU & RAM vs a GPU upgrade. I am having a lot of fun and mental torture doing all this overclocking.
@idle nexus
waterblocking ur ram 😭
homie atp just buy new sticks to fiddle with instead
probably cheaper that way too lol
$350 ram and ur on a 3070
I don't game much.
do you use the cpu and ram for stuff or is that just to have too?
I definitely want to upgrade it eventually though.
Work and hobbies like Blender, Premier, Photoshop, and some other stuff.
how much ram is it
Like I would love to have a better GPU but I haven't had this much fun doing something in a very long time.
The kit I am looking at?
yes
2x32GB 6000cl26-36-36-96 1.45v
I am trying to get a highly binned kit for my next set of RAM.
is an ethernet surge adapter a good idea for a dorm
I want to keep my temps on both the CPU and RAM well under control to sustain high frequencies.
that's $350?
wow i had no idea 64GB kits were that pricey
Yes.
Best bin that isn't EOL.
6000cl28 at 1.45v is $260ish
If I use soft tubing would that allow me to basically make my own aio allowing me to take my waterblocks on and off a the components without draining it like an AIO?
Hm
Yay
Im selling it though
Buyer may want to use front panel audio
Hmm seems to loop the CPU (Direct Die) and RAM will cost just under $800
Somebody got stick bugged
You can tell it is the same video twice because it is the same video twice. Now I'm not going to watch it
Oh
