windows does a lot to try and ensure automatic updates will apply to a wide range of hardware, however, theres a lot of hardware out there. so: windows update will make your computer useable (majority of the time), but you want the most up to date drivers from the manufacturer of ur hardware components and those are usually things you get from the product web pages from the manufacturers themselves
