i would say that the swiffer dry mop does get more of the fine dust than a broom can

so if you want to be extra clean, use a broom or a vacuum to quickly get rid of the large particles, then go over once with a dry mop

and then it will be practically dust free

honestly this also kinda goes for the swiffer dusters
they aren't exactly the cheapest, so go over with a rag to get rid of a layer of dust in the easily accessible areas, then use the swiffer to get the rest out

makes the dusters last a while longer

or if you have 2 swiffer duster handles, use one that is caked with dust, and the other that is new
use the dusty one to get rid of most of the surface dust, and use the new one to get rid of the rest (this is what i do)

once the "new" one gets too dusty, i get rid of the old one and put a new one on that and the previous "new" one is now the dusty one for the dustier areas lmfao
