Most context I've given was stated in Linus' first recent response, the recent-ish WAN show one
Ye I watched it
I still think beyond all methods taken, this situation occurred due to poor communication
The whole thing tbh
Amazon.com.au don't get crap 😭
Anything non US is ignored sadly
A problem which they had back in Aug 23 with the original GN vid
It's funny because amazon is cheaper than retail here
The subscription actually pays for itself
Idk, really hard for me or anyone else to say who is truly right
I don't think Linus is completely in the wrong
But his response handling is still awful
No option for prime gaming?
I can't change on this because it's just so obvious lol
Go back a page show me the options there
For this, we kinda need to see communication behind the doors with Steve/Linus
But GN's comments are a bit grey, I think he could've done better
Yeah we really don't know
Hit the prime option
I think Steve's taken a neutral stance for the sake of his IP
But it's coming across very differently
And scroll down and u should see the gaming section if not then yeah aussies dont get crap
By happen circumstance though Megalag already did the "Right to reply" part Linus felt troubled by

Oof so no gaming option
And for that Steve could say "We didn't think to reach out for comment as megalag did that already"
Ur originally from the states right?
That would've cleared Steve of everything imo
No
Oh ic
So I think both parties aren't completely right but I think Steve is definitely a lot further from "Wrong" here
Lol
Kinda yikes if you ask me
It was pretty easy to math this one out since it was Ada refresh
The numbers really didn't surprise me
Though the lack of what feels like any actual IPC uplift of any significant degree was very surprising
@hoary zodiac how abt trying to log into prime gaming from a web browser?
I'll be interested to see what a 4090 with a similar power envelope and increased voltage would do vs a 5090
Google says prime gaming is available in aus
Look up prime gaming
Cos iirc the 5090 is at like, 23K, vs a OC'd 4090 at like 20.5K
Which implies like almost a 10% difference
Play your cards right and a 4090 can hit near 21K
So a good 4090 being almost within 10% difference for 20% less cash (Or the 5090 being 25% more) makes it look worse 💀
Though that's on a synthetic, not all games will look that way if you don't compare stock to stock
Ah icic
Worked with my amazon account even though the prime is only for amazon.com.au
Got it let us know if u can get it working
Ohhh noice
I'm claiming all the gog studf
Are they even good?
Is it good?
Haven't played it
It's in a backlog
That was before I stopped playing games
I do need to get back into my gog tho
Need to get this game working on linux
Welp lmao
@mortal grail hello governor might i ask if u partook in experience of the game the outer worlds with a controller or a keyboard and mouse?
Pretty sure you can do either or
Oh just wanted to ask which one feels better
I tend to have a really hard time relearning controls once i decide to switch
Mmmm depends on your control preferences I think
I don't think I can be the judge of what you prefer there 💀
It was going to happen sooner or later with their ties to China
Makes sense
Like asking me "What ice cream flavour would I like?" With little to no context lol
I mean yeah, I barely use it once in a blue moon, but its gonna be a huge pain for all the memes friends have sent me that I have saved
Unless you're the based Australians just blanket banning all teenagers under 16 from social media
💀
Favorite hot dog brand
?

@hoary zodiacSide note, the Jetsons/Digit just got a huge update for 1.5x-2x performance, so I am now even more hyped to get a digit lmao
Jokes aside the Australian ban is a bit overblown
Are you saying the ban is overkill, or the reaction to it?
It's overkill really
Booted up
There's a more surgical way of addressing the problems with social media here
The hardest of decisions
Feels like it's a net negative especially for people with social anxiety
Especially in today's society
My boyfriend is Australian, so I feel strangely affected by it as well lmao
that especially
I do get it, but yeah, its a net negative IMO
As someone who grew up on the internet
I won't have achieved most of the things I have without social media
I grew up on it as well, and I was severely affected by it, but I am happy how I turned out lmao
Yeah, same here. Tho my social medias were really niche
I would have never met my ex-boyfriend turned life long best friend, or basically any of my good friends, who are all online
Granted, I was 100% doing stuff I should not have done, and I have a ton of trauma I am still healing from, but I wouldn't trade it 😅
Inflation II: Electric Boogaloo
I miss it when prices were somewhat stable
Want to rent an apartment alone? Too bad!!! It's 2025!!!
Anyways back on the AI topic
So for 3K....
How does the value proposition look against blackwell now
Assuming its not terribly slow, which I highly doubt it will be, its an insanely good value
I am expecting it to be as fast as a 3090, minimum
and thats at like FP16. At FP8 or FP4, its gonna blow it out of the damn water
The digit right?
Yeah
well, thats hard to factor for
this is all speculation, really
but I am sure the digit will be a good value fromw here I am standing
Is it a standalone unit too?
Yes, a super small hyper efficient mini PC smaller than a mac mini
👀
I did several hours of research into how well the jetson orins run, and previous products as well, and the Digit is likely gonna be extremely viable
even if its just double the performance of the Jetsin Orin AGX, I will be extremely happy
That's honestly really exciting
and it will likely be a lot more than double the perf. Plus the jetson orin AGX just got a 1.7x performance uplift
Relatively accessible in price too
for what it is, yeah
I am extremely excited for all of the cool things I can run
if I could get 2... I could run a model that beats chat GPT4o
I've been messing with a new super small model, and its very damn smart
Like, its throwing punches with open AI o1, which is their top model
I wonder what you could run outside of ai applications
Likely not much
With all that compute power
not really many things need compute like that
You can have small businesses running AI models
Yeah it's like mini pc size
its far smaller than most mini PC's
You could have an AI assistant in hardware stores/grocery stores
Just tuck this thing in the backrooms
Or hell
Have a couple of these in a datacenter
You can run an entire business' worth of automated system with just a room full of these
the president has his own crypto
is this the end of the cycle
or the sign of a new one
mad funny
i need help with something regarding a PC
Hello @eager sapphire! It appears that you're asking for help. Please ask again in the appropriate category so you can get faster help from people specializing in that field. Your question may not be answered here.
I wanna know some infos about what you would consider for an office PC and if what I built makes any sense
What is the use case?
Thats what Im asking
Would it be good for any applications that a company might use
I dont care if its video editing or rendering I just need to know what it'd be good for
Hard to say without any context
This could be a gaming company
Or maybe a word processing company
I dont mind either
Maybe a watching youtube company
Well we don't know without better context lad
Lol
Look I built this pc for a company that I made up, I havent given a lot of context in the written part of the exam, only "a pc using an apu for best price/performance which can easily handle our processes" so in the presenting part of the exam I can explain what it will be used for by that company and what they do
So right now I just need some ideas for that part
I can spin it however I want to it just has to make some sense
An apu implies a ryzen pc, but the use case is heavily dependent on whether it's intel or amd
So the criteria is a 5600G?
Yes
I would pick a relatively affordable cooler and motherboard
32gb is affordable but enough room for igpu ram allocation
As well as complex work like multiple windows, chrome, word etc
A simple 1tb ssd, since the work implied won't leverage faster speeds
I'd just go with the good old haswell optiplex
This is the list
The list has already been sent away
Welp
So I cant change it anymore
Meh
I went with easy cheap options that will work fine
Costs too much for an office pc
Looks fine except board and ram I'd have spent more and less on the case
I mean it depends on what kind of use case it actually is
I put it together whilst doing the entire written part throughout the night which took me around 10 hours so I wasnt all there anymore
Suppose you could tailor the ram allocation on 16gb
It won't feel particularly powerful though
Oh that's better
Yeah for an exam question it looks fine
Board is hilariously cheap but that's all tbh
What kind of work are you doing on it that requires 32GB
Its a presentation
Idc what i just have to make it sound plausible
I would NOT use 16gb if I could avoid it for basic windows
APUs like 4-8GB ram
Windows can be up to 8 alone
Yeah you want a bit more honestly
32gb is useful for multiple windows applications as well
Win10 is barely any better
Debloated LTSC
Its using win10
I wouldn't overcomplicate it
Whats ltsc
Yes
Remote in to fix the problem
What's an apu dependant workload hmm
Think the spin is there's not
If it was an intel pc quick sync exists
Oh nvm its win11 pro
Yeah these apus aren't really good for realistic use cases
Still fine
They aren't meant to be amazing lmao
Could say its being used for really light gaming for some evenings after everyones done with work as per request of the person I had contacted about it
It's got a speciality of being simple
I would dodge that imo
You're cornering yourself on an edge case
It's an office pc
Focus on the fact you can do multiple outputs, multitask windows
Remote pc support
Its a central PC i have set users and their file access which is part of the written exam
That could work
Hmm
Active ongoing amd support on an older cheap platform
Yes
To save costs
This is why you pick windows pro
I mean theres always options
I do thats the issue they will press me with questions about it after i presented it
I do have to know details about every PC part as well
uhh proxmox vms yada yada
You'd remove some serious advantages doing this imo
I'd make sense of it if it was a basic dgpu and a more serious cpu
Yeah but forget good multitasking
What's the windows overhead actually like
Does it kill performance that much to split the cores?
You'd definitely have issues of running multiple windows on less than 3 cores imo
It's not that, it's the programs you'd run
The ram overhead is a thing not the cpu overhead
The igpu would ironically have good utility cos you can be generous with 32gb
But 6 cores, I'd be sweating at 2 lol
For any serious work personally
If it was really rudimentary like
Just word
Just slow and basic internet
Ok fine
But not with the word multitasking involved
Man I'm way too spoiled
Single use multitasking?
Like they all run the same program set?
I'm out of touch
Or one user
Lets stick to options that works if single users use the PC but its beinf used for various different operations
Graphic design?
Due to everyone being in different departments
I would say 1 or 2 users would be quite adept for pretty serious multitasking
Still same company but some using different programs
I'd just give it to one person tbh
I guess? Maybe
One person with a specific skillset
Single users, multiple use cases would work
The one that gets paid the most
Its a central PC used by different people
Two users as well imo
And the cost being for something like that would be like what $400
$200 per person is reasonable
It has 10 users set up with different read/write access
10 is too much imo unless it's super basic work lol
Central workstation for web designer/graphic designer/accountant/marketing
For files
Files is fine
Thanm you
Thank* i hate touch keyboards
Would work but imo 1-2 users unless you want to really inhibit workflow for the sake of more users per node (pc)
Esp. graphic design
Well it depends on the business
If they're hired on different hours
Or different shifts
That's not ethical lmao
Nah its just a pc that might be used if someone else's PC fried or sth I guess?
Stick to 9 to 5
Not necessarily
Like I said its open to any possibilities
It works for a work pc but if you want multiple people tapping into it you'd avoid segregating too many cores
I just have to sell it as such
Still stick to expected hours and not 4 people 1 per 6 hours or something ridiculous lmao
Nah like localy using it not remote access necessarily
Nah not that
But 3 of the 10 on different shifts use it
Locally I'd say 2 is easily justified
Even 3 at a stretch
The cost of the pc is how much
I guessed 400
Like 200-133 dollars per person is really reasonable for a pc tower
In terms of effective cost
570€ including taxes
That's still within estimates
That's really reasonable
Basic monitor, keyboard mouse, another like €60?
That's really reasonable per person for a new pc lol
I would take the value proposition there and build off by divided use case
It's a jack of all trades really
If one person needs it for something particularly demanding they can kick everyone off and use all 6 lol
The flexibility is the selling point
Yes
Over just buying a bunch of optiplexes
And the cheap supported parts, very reasonable
But I also thought of remote access setting the PC as their central work station with the most power used only for simple office tasks
Sapping that to just spam people onto basically chromebook tier pc's with 2 threads or less is kinda nasty
Waste of a 6c/12t tbh
I mean, kinda?
Remote support is a big bonus of win pro
Basically like their server which will have most things saved on it
Would work better
You don't have a lot of space tho
1TB is fair but for multiple people not a whole lot
50GB for the install max, then 300-350 pp
1TB is nothing considering potential work cases
Thats upgradeable or I could say they had some extra storage within their facility and thats why I decided to go with something simple for now
It's not just excel and word docs
I wouldn't say there's extra
If they're evaluating on what you're selling, you're not selling extra
You could imply extra, don't assume it
Like "If they need more storage, it's upgradeable [wink]" lol
Not "The client has more storage from an old pc"
They could also just have a 5090 laying around
Not very strong argument imo
They evaluate my knowledge about IT/installation/
And some electrician knowledge
They could also have a E5-2680 v4 so now they have a server running proxmox ve with 20 instances of windows 10 running at the same time
Oh yeah but you can show them it's upgradeable
But never assume
That still shows you're being thoughtful
Honestly yeah^ good example lol
I'd say they wanted it to be highly personalized and be accessible for future upgrades and such
You could say they wanted it
But don't assume it exists
Cos you could open the doors on assuming the client has anything
Now I'm tempted to get a stupid X99 bundle and put a crap load of windows vms on them
Which I'm sure won't reflect well on a presentation unless it's pure upgradeability
This part^
It could be upgradable in the sense it doesn't have OEM BS
Yessss
Like proprietary parts
Excellent point
Very cheap to repair

If I had anything in this assignment but since we chose it ourselves and I chose basically only IT and assembly of the PC its pretty negligible
Not having proprietary is a strong alternative take
Providing proper warranty documentation in a simple folder
You can get an off the shelf psu
Saves disorganisation
Or off the shelf motherboard
Or hell cannibalise a pc you found in the bin that was thrown put because someone put corsair vengeance in it
In the case of business time you'd hyperfocus replacement over warranty
For multiple units you could retire a unit and repair it with contractual services
Right to repair
Thanks for the help
There's a farrrr better use case to talk about here
Price is a big part of presentations
Focus on that
Yes this is one of the reasons I'd name
Anyway
What is the catch
Why is it so cheap
Keyboard cleaning day
Good luck getting those key caps back on
It's honestly borderline ewaste atp
Probably fake given that they actually list which i5 it is
The joke explained: listings always say "it has an i5" or "it has an i7" but never say which i5 or i7
Shut up stinky. I'm getting the guards
@elfin mural @proud jackal GUARDSSS

Lmfao
I was talking to my mom about the fasfa
She’s like I make too much idk why those people require you file one
Context: Im getting free college through stuff but they require fasfa even if your denied
so I lowered the BCLK of my CPU by 0.5mhz and it solved my NVME issues?
or not, I'll play some Forza Horizon to see if whether it's actually good
Could do
Be careful not to lower it too much
On Ryzen especially if you step out BCLK more than 103/97 you can ruin your nvme drives depending on the board
Man I don't think I'll ever touch BCLK on my motherboard but... Since it overclocks nearly everything 😏
Nah I shouldn't do it, that'll require crazy extensive testing for all components except PSU
Bruh
If you need to retest everything just for that then you weren't stable enough in the first place

A bclk stepping of 103 isn't even a dram bin
I mean you never know, I'm probably edging that fine line of stability
I feel like the CPU oc would fail first than anything else, ram second since it cannot boot at 3100/3200mhz
🤔
That fine crack
💀
Ok so I have bclk at 100mhz, maybe changing it to 101 won't hurt
For sure
I do wonder if I can exclude both cpu and ram when attempting this... If not then I gotta revert them back to stock lol @mortal grail
If you exclude both then nothing benefits

Intel uses a different bclk method, it's isolated to cpu+ram in at least a vast majority of cases
Oh
So pcie stuff is unaffected afaik
Ye
Ryzen doesn't do that
So if you don't have a bclk pcie chip on ryzen you can destroy the m.2 playing with it
I see
Double check this btw LOL
Bclk can be reaaallllyyyy dodgy if you are playing with a board that doesn't isolate
I only have this
Then don't bother with bclk

It's such a granular change you'd be definitely overdoing it
Ok
Eeking less than 1% out
Especially when certain situations with hardware combos extremely prefer a specifically trained bclk
103mhz

Slightly worse b580

hey can someone tell me anything about these ram sticks
im pc noob idk if they are old new or whatever
oh cant send pic here
what's the sku
You got an image of the box or the sticks?
There's usually a sticker on one of the sides, take a look at that if you can
Titktoks actually rerolling out atm
Yeah, saw that on my news app. Something about the trumpster wanting 50% of the company.
8gb in 2025??? atrocious!
I can almost afford a 4070 super
wish i had money to buy nice pc parts like that
yeah same
I'm watching out for a B580 on the local market for ~250 USD
apparently local chains are in talks with suppliers at the moment
uh huh
right now the only B580s on sale are scalped ones
since they're going for 500-600 USD
B580 should only cost around 300 USD after import taxes
what currency is that
PHP
you're filipino?
😴 yeah
where is @wary fjord
sleeping
it's 3AM in Asia-Singapore methinks
For SD... a 6900 XT on Linux is almost as fast as a 7900 XTX on Windows... rofl
Okay?
Idk but it's back up for muricans atm
4060ti for 400 USD seems a bit overpriced for my own tastes
Yo prebuilts with 50 series is now being advertised
If I saw a 5070, instant cop
Founders edition 5070 gonna be 242mm smallest 50 series so far and still 2 slot at $550 I'd lock in even with 3080 (i got 10gb of vram and i do both gaming and work stuff so the boost helps)
is this forint
It is
You can get a 4080S for less and get more perf and VRAM
But yes @remote geode they are in forint
And the configs are painfully awful
Also no 5090 on offer because those are "delayed" allegedly
oof
it's probably not "delayed" moreso that they can't get their hands on it cuz bigger system integrators has their hands on them first
imagine if we get to a point where Nvidia cards are all OEM only
Where is 4080 super cheaper than FE 5070? They're still going for at least 800 used from what I can tell
FE 5070 will cost like 450k here
Used 4080S is down at 380k
Both HUF ofc
The meta might be ordering stuff from Germany tbf
The import taxes wouldn't make it worth it for me
Yea I don't think that's going to work for the US
Well being in Schengen works for me
But EU pricing is generally significantly higher than US ones anyway
god I would import a B580 from China but the import taxes is going to kill me
But from Amazon
~19,000 PHP for a B580 😦
Get your phd instead of your php
it's not available here yet
Ah
except for the ones that's already scalped/imported it already
selling it for 4060 prices (~25,000 PHP) on Facebook Marketplace
Idea
it was gone for so long though
Not on app stores tho
App stores have a hold on it until decision is reached
Watch
I don't use it so I never lose it
I believe the ban is still in effect
That's why it's not in app stores
Using the app isn't banned
Distributing and maintaining it is

twitter is a cesspool of mental degradation and trash bait posts filled with hatred on the side
i do think its one of THE worst social media platforms ever
Don't forget it's also where you more and more often have to resort to getting tech support from companies by @ing them rather than through a normal email ticket system
thats wild
Meta and IG are so bad and they'll start making AI generated content to interact with people.
Dead internet theory is herrrreee
stupid companies proving it ✅
I saw a John Pork Ai bot on IG the other day 😭
LOL Marvel Snap was caught up in the ban too because its owned by Bytedance. Its back now though
They nearly got snapped
Oh.
So many games are gonna be blocked if they try going after chinese owned studios again.
Heck, based on the "20% ownership" in the Bill BG3 would get banned too. Tencent owns 30% of Larian.
Larian, Epic, Snapchat, Digital Extremes, and Riot. are fully or partially owned by Tencent. Then you'd have MiHoyo and Netease probably get gone after too. 🥲
bruh
because american tech companies want more of your information without foreign competition
Ah but you forget, there is no self interest in banning BG3
Attempting to force a sale is self interest
Elon Musk said he wanted to start a gaming studio
Oh
so yes
He's known for buying his way in rather than actually starting one
Ban Valorant

I've noticed a lot of people complaining about cod/fortnite players who migrate to other shooters cause they never have any idea what they're doing.
and they refuse to learn too
I dunno, I never know what I'm doing in multiplayer shooters either and never seem to learn
Saw a team lose right at the end on Marvel's Rivals because they all left the objective 🥲 like bruh

Cheats don't need to run on your device. Just a capture card and a kronus to move input from one PC to the other. Works on consoles too
ye

Thats why I mentioned Netease above
Netease
Netmarble
Tencent
is like the only top 3 i know from my head
Tencent, Netease, and mihoyo are major gaming companies.
And they already said Tencent is a "Chinese Military entity"
They added a ton of tech companies to the list. Like CATL which makes lithium batteries for Tesla and is teaching Ford how to make them in Michigan
huh interesting
I imagine with a carve out that'll allow them to still sell to Tesla but nobody else yeah?
TBH I'm surprised Ford hasn't been pushing back.
They rely a lot on foreign companies and the US is making enemies of all of them basically lol.
I imagine they don't want to tick off all the pickup truck owners and have the admin remind people they have factories in Mexico
Especially since they are already going to be getting flak in the form of the EV tax credit getting bonked
Ha

Here is the drive…are we gonna need a heat sink with it?
no you wont

there is almost never a well priced build at best buy
no gen 3 ssd does
I understand that
some high speed gen 4 ones do
Oh ok
oh
technically it's not a "need"
I told her to go the route having a company build it but I guess she just wanted to get him something
was just an observation
you might not get the full performance out of the drive though without one, though assuming the motherboard isnt the cheapest one availiable, it might have a heat spreader on it
yes
and how much did it cost?
60 bucks if they paid that listing cost
my crucial x9 4tb external ssd have 2x 2tb nvme ssd inside lol
it does indeed have a heatsink
this wont run most demanding releases
it have very early m2 ssd which don't have 4tb version so they put 2x 2tb ssd inside lmao
that's like a gtx 1070 perf right
i forget what it was a similar perf to
fine for esports i guess if that's what they play
honestly at that point it probably would have made more sense to do a completely custom build instead of buying and upgrading a prebuilt like this
cpu also is quite underpowered
might be fine for a 4070.... at least in titles that don't need much cpu performance at least
Ok she added a 3060 or 3070
But switching out the GPU and added the M.2 is the extent of the upgrades
how much did the prebuilt cost? and when was it bought
It had 8 GB Ram and upgraded it to 16
Bought Christmas regularly $850
And bought it for $700
hmm..... still wasnt a good deal lmao
I don’t doubt it…I really honestly believe all pieces of tech are overpriced s
But that’s just what I think
If anything is a good deal, either something wrong with it or the shelf life remaining is not long
i wouldn't say all, but nvidia really be pushing the bar higher .... or lower?
higher in price, lower in value for what you pay for lol
Apple of GPUs
Or unless you get lucky and someone really needs money and trying to off load something or they don’t care about money and just want to get rid of it
We don’t know much about PC’s
well, at least macos lets you buy cheap and honestly well made software for a one time price
like pro tools and uhhh logic pro
That’s why I am in this group. I know the basic stuff but I couldn’t put together a PC and make it look presentable if you paid me
Like I know GPU, Ram, and where the chip is and obviously the case, and I understand general basic knowledge of a PC bur don’t understand the different tech components and how they affect each other
When I bought my PC, I told the guy I just want the best available. Just hook it up. lol. I an a little more knowledgeable now as in I kinda know what case I want next time, but before this PC, the only thing I knew were the graphics were better
i've said this pretty often, but most people honestly don't need to know the specifics about a pc, just how to do basic diagnosis and parts swapping
there will always be online forums and chat services with people willing to help (whether for free or for a small fee) to help you decide on upgrades or full build lists
so people who might not quite want to spend the time could still save a bit of money by diy but not need to get into the nitty gritty of the industry
Well obviously online and internet helps, burn if there was no Reddit or YouTube, I know for a fact I couldn’t do anything like that without reading
But obviously people did that sort of thing before the internet
before somebody created pcpartpicker, it was alot harder to get into the hobby
but now with the massive database that pcpp has, it's easy to check for compatibility
and parts that are lower priced
All I am saying is I suggested she go a different route for the PC, but my different route would have been quite a bit more money because I don’t understand how to shop for parts other than looking at a list and seeing different PC components graded. Like I know 4070 is better than 3070, but I wouldn’t know that AMD chip is the way to go for gaming or like specific ram and/or other components work better even though they may not be as “good”
Is PC part picker updated
To reflect like brand new items
Is it user built or is there like a team of moderators that put that site together
Like if a brand new case comes out at like CES, would you be able to see if such and such GPU would fit
are these fine temps while gaming
When jt talks about compatibility, does it talk take in account size of components or strictly from a technical perspective?
Yes, it probably has like 90% of the parts available
Maybe just not the most obscure ones
It does have a rudimentary size compatibility checker though it's not 100% accurate, and you should double check, but this is only mainly important for small form factor builds
Thanks for helping ya’ll
could be better, but its fine

Do you guys suggest a better drive for the price
If you have any suggestions, we can take it back
And I can always get something off Amazon. She doesn’t really do Amazon but she could if it’s a better deal than the SSD we got
Many times she just looks at price of stuff and not really value when it comes to stuff like this
Mp44q is $51
It's better, but the difference really won't be noticed by most people
Is there a better deal on maybe a 2TB
I know it will be more expensive but maybe get 2TB and not have to upgrade again sort of thing
2tb is like the sweet spot of $/gb
The brand is Teamgroup?
It's a great ssd, on par with the crucial sn850x, hynix p41, Samsung 980 pro, etc
Teamgroup is great
Yes
They've been around a good while and use a lot of the same components "mainstream" brands use.
Kinda like all the same benefits of the other drives just not paying for the name/logo?
It's your choice but I've suggested the drive over 100 times by now and haven't had any complaints. I can grab a diff suggestions
Pretty much
Team group is a fairly large brand but just not as well known as Samsung or such
She is out of town…gonna swap it out when she gets back
But Samsung is a very large company
That’s why I joined this community
I know I wasn't trying to come off annoyed, I genuinely dm grabbing another option
I would have never heard of that brand. I read a lot of random tech news and stuff and crazy to think never heard of that brand
It's not my money I won't decide for you lmao
Don’t think I have heard of anyone else mention it in other communities
I def. appreciate it. Gonna have her swap out that Crucial and go with that
Teamgroup, silicon power, thermalright, montech, antec, some other brands aren't very mainstream necessarily but make a ton of great parts
When you say it’s better but won’t notice difference, guessing you mean read/write speed is a little faster
Thermalright is more widely known now tho
Don’t think have ever seen any of those brands on Amazon
Do they all sell on there?
It's a lot faster, mp44q is 7200mbps if i remember right. However games really don't care about peak read/write speeds
Either there or newegg
B&h and adorama are also good websites to buy from
Guessing Newegg the shipping is comparable to Amazon
hmm newegg website had a slight redesign huh?
Not just that
I'm not a fan of newegg or Amazon, I just buy from whatevers cheaper typically
You have to look at the kind of ssd, I’d avoid qlc
Varies item to item, and on location
Go for tlc
Yea, I personally like shopping online because there are so many more options and choices
Some of them are cheap cause they’re qlc and or dram less
For why
Thanks ya’ll
Lasts longer
I’ll def stop by tonite and chat.
I wish I did
Source?
LOL
Girlfriend request
Can’t rn but maybe this https://superuser.com/questions/1816522/how-much-longer-of-a-lifespan-do-tlc-ssds-have-compared-to-qlc-ssds
Have a good one ya’ll. Thanks again for all the info
Most sata ssds are qlc and I've seen plenty of those live 10-20 years
Peace
@worthy meteor
That shorter life span could be from 30 years to 25 years
Unusable
I'd want to see samples specifically
Yes ofc
Was just random numbers
From what i know, as long as you're not doing consistent writes, like someone doing video editing or content creation in general, it doesn't really matter
On the hard drive note, so I had all these mechanical drives that had a power cable to wall to run. So like you plug it in the wall and a couple of them would also need USB power to actually boot up to see all the contents
I went about 8-9 years without using them and they sat. They sat in a bin. EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THEM the power supply was shot. I enddd up paying to have one restored because not only my backup but my backup backups. Don’t ever buy those drives.
I bought those back in 2008-2010 when I knew nothing about that sort of thing and they were cheaper than Mobil drives (no wall power cable needed). Somewhere along the line, the power supply terminal just crashed and went to crap.
Still don’t know what caused it.
Macrium has a thing to rebuild the bootloader
did you delete the efi?
MacriumRescue.iso
QLC cells themselves don't have to be any more or less reliable, it all depends on the specific piece of nand, there's crappy tlc that's less reliable than good qlc, and there's crappy qlc that's less reliable than good tlc
qlc nand are slower natively, and have smaller pslc caches because of how the cells work
it runs outside Windows
I'm more worried about controllers than nand tbh
let me run it to show you what it looks like hold on
it runs on my Ventoy drive as one of the ISOs
one second I had CPU set to run 60x all-core & didn't fix vCore before I stopped playing around with it so gotta fix that first lol
this 13900KS is toasted for sure lol
Just got mah first tattoo (its a little red from swelling, plasma and what not)
there are good cheap qlc drives that perform better for most tasks
like for example mp44q can hit 7000/6500
that's a lot faster in terms of seq compared to sn570
So first I go here
iirc mp44 > mp44q > mp44l
Then it goes here
Something something mp44L has worse controller
I'll see if I can find a link for it
but you'd need it working... eh
oh wait you can get to win8.1?
okay go to Win8.1 & open cmd as admin
in Explorer note the letter of the drive with windows missing
then in the cmd try:
bcdboot [drive letter from explorer]:\Windows
it should say "the operation completed successfully"
5000/4500
