The two slots you have left empty are in fact the primary slots, the one's you have them in are secondary, if the board follows a standard ram trace layout

It's not really an issue per se, but you do usually get better ram performance using the other two slots

If your Lenovo manuals say otherwise though, don't listen to me

The chip is just a hot chip by nature

It just likes to be hot due to the cache layout on the cpu
